Rozafa Shani

In my land, ladies have to know how to fight too.

a character in “King's Candidates”, as played by Aniihya

Description

Full name: Rozafa Xhevahire Liridona Shani

Nickname: Roza

Titles: Baroness of Shurete, Princess of the Shureti

Gender: Female

Age: 27

Sexuality: Bi

Occupation: Huntress and Ruler of Shurete

Nationality: Shurete

Appearance: Image

Appearance description: Rozafa is a tall woman with blonde hair that reaches her lower back and she has turquoise eye color. At 6 feet and three inches (1.88 m) she is even tall for her own nations female standard. She is somewhat busty but at the same time has a sturdy build implying that she may be rather an adventure person and not a defenseless female noble. On formal occasions she wears a knee-length dress that while elegant, seems also practical in use due to plated padding from the hips down the skirt. The upper part of the dress has a rather open but standing collar and a short tie. Her usual clothing consists of a blouse (see pic) with some frills and a short tie with either a short armor skirt and tall boots or durable leather trousers with boots. She always wears her leather fingerless gloves, tradition woven leather armlets and woven leather choker as well as a necklace with a blue crystal.

Personality: Roza is a proud and strong woman who would rather make a rational decision than abide by etiquette. She is regarded as a fair ruler in her homeland and is a rather popular ruler for this. While her height and build may be a bit threatening to other nobles, she is a fairly kind person who tries not to judge people. She sometimes seems rather tomboyish since her homeland has a different view of gender roles being rather a matriarchy with almost equal rights for both men and women.

Equipment: Else than her clothing, it is usual for her to wear some armor while always sporting a decorated hunting rifle and a pistol. She rode a horse to the capital of Valade rather than being transported in a carriage. Roza also keep a light sword on her just in case.

History: Unlike many princesses, Roza wasn't groomed to look nice and fulfill duties of a female noble. As the eldest sibling, Roza was entitled to the throne. She was taught in using weaponry, the art of warfare, diplomacy and becoming a ruler. Roza was driven by pride and the will to achieve. Once she came of age, her parents abdicated due to difficulties they had as rulers, putting the burden onto Roza. Roza, using her smarts, solved many of the problems by granting the citizens greater freedoms while still maintaining order. Two year into her reign, two of Roza's five siblings tried to coup the government while two others fought by her side and one wasn't at all interested in becoming involved with politics. The coup failed and by law the reigning monarch was to execute the leading figures by decapitation, which Roza did. The following years, of her remaining siblings, one became the captain of the town guard, one became a teacher at the military academy and one became the royal gardener. Once she caught up with her work, she began to wonder about a partner missing in her life. So she set out with a couple of her most loyal companions to Valade, where she was first thought to be a general or a knight. Meanwhile her parents and the sibling who became a teacher are running the nation of Shurete.

So begins...

In was the early afternoon when a tall woman on a horse accompanied by seven warriors rode through the gates of the capital of Valade. People looked towards the group in curiosity, wondering from where this foreign group was from or who the tall woman in the center front of the group was. The outfit as well as the weaponry she had equipped caught one's eye. A rifle with a decoratively carved butt and a shiny iron decorated barrel worn on the back, a pistol sheathed at the right and a rapier on the left. The long blonde hair blown by a light breeze. A city guard came up to her: "State your business, general."

The woman looked a bit confused and then chuckled. In a Shuretene accent, the woman replied: "General? Do not just suggest ones status by ones looks. I am Rozafa Xhevahire Liridona Shani, Baroness of Shurete, Princess of the Shureti, Ruler of the Shureti Queendom." "Queendom you say? If you are the ruler of this so called Queendom, then your proper title should be queen." The guard said. One of the men in the back then let out in an angry tone: "Talk to my ruler in the deserved respect, guard!" Rozafa turned back to him: "Calm down and give this man some ease. We are in a foreign land, so sense of respect may be a bit different here." The guard bowed and said: "I admire your kindness fair lady. The way you handle your people is admirable. But queen or baroness, please state your business."

"I am here to attend the grand ball and make the prince my future husband in order to officially use the title of queen as it is tradition in my land that a ruler must be wedded to officially be named queen." Rozafa replied. The guard then said: "I understand. While most men only seek women who look nice and raise children, maybe the prince may find interest in a strong amazon like you. Shall I guide her highness to the castle?"

"No need to be so formal. I prefer to be a ruler that is close to the people, so Miss Shani may be more appropriate. And escort would be fine even though the castle is clearly visible from here." She replied.

The guard guided the group to the castle. It wasn't far. Maybe a good ten minute through the city. At the castle gate, a man who seemed to be a member of the royal guard waited. "What general do we have here? A possible candidate for the prince?" The man said. The guard went up to the man: "I beg your pardon, but she is the queen, baroness or whatever of the Shureti Queendom. And yes, she seeks to wed our beloved prince." The man gasped and bowed with his head to the ground: "I am very, very sorry for my mistake. I didn't expect you to be a woman of such power!" "Stand up. There is no need to act in such a manner before me. I prefer people to be less formal and more familiar to me. Acting in a way known to many noble families is something that sort of makes me feel ill. I despise snobs and the culture of wealthy nobles. Please, if you have a room, then let me stay in a room with my companions, nothing flashy." Roza said.

The royal guard then said to the city guard: "Even though she is quite the amazon, I am beginning to like her." The city guard replied with a grin.

A servant came out to the group of nobles at the gates. "Our Lord is waiting in the Grand Parlor. Please follow me." Rozafa followed the man to the Grand Parlor where a young man was waiting. The circlet on his head meant that he must be the prince. Rozafa bowed and said: "Rozafa Shani, future queen of Shurete and current ruler of the Shureti. I am glad to meet you and I will make you my husband." That sort of came out not right. For one of Rozafa's men, it seemed like: "You WILL become my partner or else." One man from Rozafa's group said to the other: "I feel sorry for the boy. While Roza may be a great ruler, warrior and strategist, it seems like she would be more the husband in a relationship."

Rozafa caught part of that and gave the man a sharp stare. "I am sorry my lady." The man said bowing with his head to the ground. Rozafa then continued: "I have been looking for a partner for some time now and with you, we could establish closer relations between our nations."

"Introducing Her Royal Highness, Rozafa Shani of Shurete, Baroness of Shurete, Apparent Leader of the Shureti people," announced the herald.

George smiled politely as a tall woman and her entourage strode in to the parlor. He bowed slightly, a greeting from one heir of to another. Most of the people there, the princess included, had the traditional features of Shurete. Golden hair, bright blue eyes, and tanned skin. The princess's skin was slightly tanned as well, suggesting that she did more than just sit inside all day.

"Rozafa Shani, future queen of Shurete and current ruler of the Shureti. I am glad to meet you and I will make you my husband."

George's eyes widened slightly. That was straightforward. While others have desired the same thing, I don't think anyone's been so... blunt about it. His lips twitched, and he suppressed the amused smile.

He heard the tail-end of the man's comment, and it became harder to keep a straight-face. (He managed, though, to keep his smile bland and placid.) His father's servant behind him was not so amused and was currently glaring at the princess's escorts. George quelled the man's glare with a brief wave of his hand.

"I have been looking for a partner for some time now and with you, we could establish closer relations between our nations," continued the princess.

"That is very true." George made sure his tone was neutral. "As you may have guessed, I am Prince George of Valade, and current heir to the throne." His smile grew a bit more genuine. "It is a pleasure to meet you. I've heard much about you, and I can confidently say that the rumors do not do you justice."

The princess was definitely more vibrant and... straightforward than the stories suggested. "I'm afraid we cannot talk for long, at the moment. I still have many others to greet." Unfortunately. "I do hope we meet again at the ball, though." Which was true. He did want to know more about the leader of Shurete.

He nodded to the servant waiting by the door. "Sam, please show Princess Shani to her quarters." He turned back to the princess and bowed again. "Thank you."

Oh my. Quite the turn up of nobility just to meet the king, well... the would-be king, so supposedly Miranda had misinformed the blockhead guard about who she had an appointment with. Actually, she wasn't entirely sure about that herself. 'Meh. King. Prince. They're all the same high-horse people, aren't they?', probably. Miranda never quite understood the difference, not that she ever cared to remember.

Still, quite the turn up.

Amber eyes carefully inspected the cultural manifestation of queens and princesses out in the back. Daunting, for sure, and Miranda felt that they'd think her a vagabond. And she had picked out her best suit too. This one only had eight tears total. (and she had been especially cautious to blow off all the cobwebs) Such grace was unheard of from madam Crackpot! Hmm, observations had to suffice until proper introductions were made. Besides, she didn't want to mess up on the first day. That'd be most dramatic.

So the professor stood back a bit, careful not to let her tardiness distract the pompous entourage of suitors eagerly waiting to take a bite out of prince charming while she shamelessly judged them from afar as they sauntered into the castle.

Her pondering gaze first fell, predictably enough, on the one lady (if you could even call it that) towering above the others like some sore, muscular thumb it was difficult not to notice her. 'Snow White's turned huntsman, how utterly... terrifying.' If you're into that. And something told Miranda that the prince would prefer a more delicate appearance, rather than a punch in the gut for breakfast. Definitely opened an enticing debate on who'd wear the trousers in that marriage.

A stifled chuckle broke the neutral expression. The thought that this colossal woman was a potential suitor for the prince had amused her, when Miranda briefly pictured the proud Amazon in a frilly wedding dress before the altar.

A hilarious result to be sure, but unlikely.

Next up came a more traditional and dignified character, certainly unique in her presence but ethically pleasing in the eyes of noble circles. Miranda joyfully recalled the young woman's attire to be representative of Austron artificers, a country she had the honour of visiting once. Learn from the best her uncle always said, and where else would you find a more technologically oriented culture?

“The Silver Hand, was it? How nice to make your indirect acquaintance.” The professor's eyes fell on the mechanical limb that the Austron ruler so proudly displayed without shame. 'Tsk, tsk, tsk... Where is the subtlety in that now?' Miranda glared at the woman with an almost obsessive grin, she certainly found the current line up an interesting bunch. Perhaps she'd find entertainment in this charade after all.

The other two, quite frankly, weren't all that spectacular. Not that modesty was wrong, but... you know, eccentricity is the spice of life (or so the saying goes). She did remember a few impressions, like 'Sunhat sure has spunk' and 'Entourage, eh. Going solo, potentially dangerous, but obviously no fussy mothers around to bother you.'. The rest was already accounted for, and had gained Miranda's... so-so interest to actually stay when offered more than plenty.

That said, after the higher class had introduced themselves and drooled all over the poor, poor prince, it was time for the lesser caste to make acquaintances. Well, not that Miranda wasn't nobility (in some countries she still was), but fate decreed that she had given up the official title not too long ago.

“Presenting, Lady Li-” An oaken cane encrusted with black paint gently prodded the herald, a slim finger pressed against her lips as she hushed his words.

“Tut-tut-tut. Spare your breath, dear. The likes of me don't need no introduction, and if the prince has forgotten about little old me? All the more reason to remain silent, yes?” The woman feigned a poor man's Cheshire grin before once again allowing the cane to press against the floorboard as she shambled towards the, apparently, 'bored out of his eye-sockets' prince. They were by no means friends, but Miranda had the pleasure of spending ample hours engaging in intriguing chatter with the Lancaster boy back when she served the royal family. So it went without saying that they, at the very least, were no strangers to one another.

“The gall of some servants... Preposterous, don't you think?” Miranda began, stifling a laugh before she put a halt to her limp-walk only a mere inches away from the carrot boy; A single hand removing the old tophat, prompting the woman's wild hair to literally spring upward into an even messier arrangement.

“Georgie!” So unorthodox. “I'd say how nice to see you again, but chances are you've completely erased my existence from your memories. Royalty tends to disdain my presence, apparently. Weird.” Her thoughts dwindled for a moment, before she creatively added; “Oh, right. I'm ecstatic to attend the coming ball. I will be on my best behaviour while I reside in your humble home... Your Lordship.”

With another pause for breath, Miranda ominously leaned in closer to George. “Psst, you don't happen to know where your father is, do you? I was actually supposed to see him, but I couldn't resist sneaking a peak at your ball and chains to-be.”

Roza was led into a room by the royal servants. Her guard joined her in her room but the servant sort of objected. "We have separate rooms for you entourage." The servant said. Roza put her hand onto the servants shoulder and said: "We insist on staying together, who know whether my guard get a rustic room on the other side of the castle." The now nervous servant bowed and excused himself. "Rozafa, you scared him away. The people of Valade are so skiddish. We should send more female envoys to this place so that the people of Valade know what true women are like." One of the men said. Roza giggled and said: "I guess their women only take care of the household and wont be able to protect the family once their man is gone or disabled. I just hope you guys don't wanted to have such a doll. Their skin is probably as soft as that of a baby and they will piss themselves once confronted with physical labor as they were raised not to do."

A third joined in on the conversation. "Awww, will you stop it. They are a different people. For them our women are beautiful brutes." The whole round laughed. Rozafa then wondered: "Might they have a training area here? We could try out the new weapons there and spar some." While talking, Rozafa presented a heavy and wonderfully decorated maul and her two guns.

The group set off to look for a training area.

Roza walked down the hallway with a giant maul with a matte golden color to it and decorative engravings. He guard was behind her. She saw an open door and a couple people there. "Just walk and don't stare." She said quietly to her men. While looking back, she accidentally bumped into a handmaiden and knocked her over. She grabbed the handmaiden's hand and pulled her back onto her feet. While doing this Roza said: "Oh. I am sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going. Me and my men were just heading outside to find a training area to try out some things and spar a little."

Peeking into the room, she noticed two young women. She suggested that they were princesses. One was more obvious than the other. For Shuretian standard they looked frail, however Rozafa guessed that was something usual in these lands. Still, giving their appearance, she offered the two: "How would you two like to spar with us? Even if you had never touched a weapon before in your life, I could still show you a think or two."

Then she remembered how rude it must seem for foreign nobles to be so direct and intrude. "Pardon me barging in. Let me properly introduce myself. I am Rozafa Xhevahire Liridona Shani. I am Baroness of Shurete, Princess of the Shureti, regent of the Shureti lands or what people in Valade seem to call it, Queen of Shurete. But I do not want to be named by title. It was annoying enough when the High Counselor of Anadon kept calling me empress last month because he thought that the protectorates of the Shureti were integrated into the queendom as conquered lands." She said.

"Princess Victorine Jeran, heir to the throne of Tessar" Victorine curtsied first to the princess of Pennyhill, then to the princess... queen... empress... person of Shurete. Victorine was definitely more accustomed to Anastasia's type, the shy and frankly unamusing prissy princess. Rozafa didn't quite fit into her perfect imagery of a princess... well, she actually overwhelmed the frame of perfection "It would be my... honor to spar with you, but i am afraid that i will have to pass although... maybe some other time your majesty, i am a little tired, but I'm sure the esteemed princess of Pennyhill would gladly join you"

Victorine's lips curled upwards into a smile, if the other princess took up the Shurete's offer them there was a good chance she'd be sent home early, right? Besides, Princess Rozafa would surely have some other weakness to exploit, and the other royals would too and then after the competition was eliminated, it would be her, the queen of Valade and Tessar. Whilst deep in thought Victorine absentmindedly let out a giggle at the thought of Princess of Pennyhill fighting a hulking woman like the Shureti Princess.

Anastasia looked towards another girl coming into the room and conversation. She defiently hadn't thought much about it really. She just wished she could continue her book but if she would come queen it seemed like she would never finish a book in her life. She needed to know that this was what was happening she smiled at the new princess that came into the room.

"Princess Anastasia Silverstone of Pennyhill." She said with a curtsy to the other princess. She watched as Victorine spoke in charge. She smiled towards them both and looked at them with a smile.

"I would love too but I was busy finishing a book. And I am not that much in for spar but maybe another time?" She said with a smile towards the other princess that she had no idea why she would ask a question like that anyway. But she was honored at the fact the other people wanted to do something with her.
