Around the world, Light Bearers were becoming more popular. They were a danger that needed to be reigned in, as evident by the destruction in Japan. Together, the UN voted unanimously to take custody of such creatures. It quickly became apparent that these humans could be used to wage war and successfully take over other territories and the countries that held onto them used them like toy soldiers in their games of war. When a certain woman, known only by the letter K, revealed that regular humans could be crafted into artificial light bearers, a new age of science and research began. Consequently, it also triggered the worst war humanity has ever seen. Due to these strange powers, America no longer had the monopoly on military might. With resources such as oil and petrol dwindling, there was no better time for war then now, to take all the resources and live on as the Earth's ruler. World War Three, or perhaps better known as the Light Bearer War, had begun.

Image
Image

Image

The strikes were deadly accurate and otherwise silent. Humanity had always expected World War Three to rid the land of its unsteady peace. Rather than deploy weapons to wipe out nations that could cost the nation billions of dollar, they instead opted to use humans whose only price cam with three meals a day and the occasional medical treatment. As war raged on, the Goddess knew that there was only one way to salvage the situation. She was struck with the idea to gather souls, shedding fragments of her own being in order to save the Immortal Girl who had been lost in time. With each soul collected, she bound them to an unassuming object that would be scattered across the land. Each fragment were key members of the tragedy that had befallen humanity as it turned itself from a civilized nation full of farmland, cities, and neighborhoods; to a wasteland of scattered cities with oceans between them. Not to mention the humans fighting over the dwindling resources that needed to learn to adapt in order to survive.

Image
Image

ImageNearly one hundred years later, civilization rose from the ashes. These pockets of survivors began to rebuild, one brick and garden at a time. Old crumpled cities were now hospitable enough to house humans, farms that had not been sunken in floods had begun to thrive; humanity's chance at survival was at a record high. However, as with all things, human greed once again rose in the form of the Conqueror, going as L. It was he alone that was able to subjugate many cities underneath his rule, with the intent of being the Earth's overlord. Naturally, when one leader rose above the people, another moved to unite the divided. A resistance began to form, as a man named Jace went from city to city, gathering support to resist the Conqueror. It was on one of these missions that a meeting of fate was arranged. Jace returned from his daily rally to give his only daughter, Miiko a plastic rose with a ghost known as the Martyr bound to it.

It was time for the Goddess's final hope to come to fruition.

At this very moment, it was a very good thing neither Stella or Essie were present at the strategy meeting. She didn't want to get caught up in Captain Varus's insanity. He had drawn his sword against Jace, his eyes burning with competitive fire, yelling something about how the better duelist should decide the next move, and then Jace refused to fight, because it was stupid and childish. Varus then claimed that they were brothers again because Jace had invited his fleet to this meeting - to which Jace replied that Varus was akin to a wild animal, and he was more useful muzzled and leashed than out allowed to do whatever he pleased. Naturally Varus laughed and beckoned for Jace to scratch behind his ears, it was a strange affair altogether and thankfully Essie wasn't there to deal with the human headache Varus was.

"It was corrupt before." Essie murmured, holding her hand out to give the box over to Stella for examination. It wasn't the journal, but it could still be something of importance that the scavengers still haven't uncovered just yet. She glanced at Yui with a quarter smile, her black hair swaying in the cold Yavinese wind. "Police monitoring your ever word, black vans coming to get you if even one thought wasn't in line with their philosophy." She shook her head, no, it wasn't just America with problems back then. "...I heard about things in Japan, it was awful there too, wasn't it?" And both sides, America and Japan, were more than happy to hunt down and prosecute light bearers, killing them. Shoku was a fan of public executions, while President Cross was more a fan of quiet snuffings where no one could see.

As for Prisca, well, Essie had no intention of forgiving her. Her sin was too deep to just forgive that easily. She would be okay with fighting alongside her, but that was as far as she was willing to have their relationship go. If Essie willingly let Prissie back into her life, her twin would only go back to her old patterns and be the incessant parasite she had always been, all over again. "If your plan works, it'd be easier to reconnect with having her here." Essie murmured as the three of them made their way to find their old childhood clubhouse, with a notebook right there waiting. Essie offered a smile to her Caster, pink dress flowing with every step. "It's good you found it, I hope what you're looking for is in there."

Naturally the Star noticed that Yui was tiring, so she conjured up a single star and made it larger, large and flat enough for someone to be able to ride on. "Here, Yui, we don't want you tiring yourself out." She lifted the Immortal Girl on and controlled the star to have it follow safely with minimal turbulence. She then sat herself down and yawned lazily. Maybe a part of her thought it'd be nice if Stella and Miiko's bond could be repaired. "Are we bringing it back, or do you want to read it here?" She asked her Caster, gazing curiously at the journal.

"Oh, thank you Essie," Yui happily sat down on the star, relaxing her tired feet. She couldn't wait to go inside and warm up with a home cooked meal made by Gavin or Athena. Stella retrieved the journal and sat down, taking a break. "Yeah, I'd rather read it here so that we don't hav to listen to their ridiculous fighting," Stella replied, drawing in a deep breath. She flipped open to the first page, uncertain of what to expect. "I'm sorry," it was written over and over, dozens of times on multiple pages. In some places it was followed by words, such as waste of space, or I'm so stupid. Stella bit down on her lip, she wasn't sure what she had expected but this most certainly was not it. She did not tear up, however, Stella wished that she was able to give her sister a hug. Instead of being beside her, her sister was playing soldier somewhere in Capitol City with her own spirit and secret mission.

Stella closed her eyes and leaned her head back. "Miiko," she whispered, wishing that she could tell Miiko what she was thinking. Instad, however, Stella flipped to the first page with an actual entry. She held her breath, wondering if it would be more words of apology, or something a bit more telling.

Today is the first day I feel like myself again. I went down to the market place to help Mommy with an important errand, one that she said only I could do. Her hands are shaking badly again today and she and Daddy keep stealing glancing at each other over meals, speaking in that parent language I don't understand. I'm lonely. I want my sister, they've made a grave for her at the base of the tree but have no body to buy. She isn't dead, I keep trying to tell them, but no one will listen to me. Stella is still alive, my sister is out there, I have to find her. Today I went searching, I'm no good at fighting, but Stella told me that you don't have to be strong to win a fight. I hope she isn't mad at me, sometimes I think about how it should have been me and not her, because at least, if it was me who was taken, then they would never need to worry because I'm not smart, or special.

I don't have powers like Stella, which is why I have to be the one to save her. I went to the market to help Mommy, but I traded for the first time on my own. I remember what Daddy said, never pay full price, everything can be bargained. I bought rope and wood, I'm going to build myself a boat. I've collected pieces of metal too, although at some point I'll need a book to teach me how since Uncle Varus isn't allowed here anymore. Don't worry Stella, I'm coming to get you, it might take a while, but I'll find you.

Stella closed the journal, opened it again, then closed it. She stuffed it into her bag and paced the length of the room, a pit having formed in the bottom of her stomach. She tried to imagine her little sister, hardly eleven years old, writing these words. She tried to imagine her wearing that scarf on her head and that goofy grin, happily trading away whatever she owned for items she believed would help her on her journey.

Instead of reading over Stella's shoulder, she did the respectable thing and looked away, allowing her mind to drift to different possibilities, to different ways everyone's lives could have gone. If things were just a tiny bit different she wouldn't even be alive right now, she'd be dead, of old age, hopefully after having lived a good, full life. Naturally that chance was stolen from her, but if she hadn't encouraged that poisonous clinging attitude Prissie had developed, if she had instead helped her meet and befriend others, maybe none of it would have happened. "I'm still not used to being alive yet." Esme admitted with a shrug, finding herself with Yui, because Stella was lost in the world of words that was the journal. "I heard from Stella that the Goddess that brought me back is someone important to you."

There wasn't much she knew about the Third World War, even having been alive in the time period. Yes, she died almost a year before the war itself was ended by Yui's own grief finally reaching a limit, but that didn't change the fact that that history was a part of her own history. While some saw it as a resource war, with dwindling oil, petrol, country leaders began to get desperate. Another common theory was that it was a war to decide who got to monopolize and control the light bearers and thus, rule the world using their strange and often, powerful abilities that no normal human could ever do. To this day Essie wasn't sure which of the two were correct, or if there were hidden reasons for the war that she still hadn't yet discovered. It was probably a mixture of all three.

In a different world, she could have ended up with Callum, the two of them becoming a nice, almost decent couple. And Prissie, she could almost definitely become an actress if she wanted. Though only when she was alone, Essie did spy some times when Pressie acted in front of a mirror, to try and make herself a stronger, braver person. If she could get over that shyness, then she would have found happiness in her life. "Yui, can you thank that girl for me?" Essie asked, because she had a feeling she herself couldn't reach the Goddess, but the Immortal Girl definitely could. "For letting me come back, to give me time to sort through my thoughts before I have to die again?" All in all, Essie was happy for the chance to help right the world, for a chance to make a difference, even if it meant she wasn't going to get to enjoy the peace, that didn't matter to her.

Finally Stella finished reading and Essie said nothing but patted her on the shoulder, careful not to upset her handbag where the star tiara was carefully hidden in a pouch. "We should start heading back before they get suspicious." The more suspicious the adults were, the more questions they'd ask. "They might yell at us for being lazy and neglecting our duties." Or worse, the adults might start wondering if they were involved in Jellyfish and Daisy's disappearance. She moved the star to let it hover next to her. "Are you okay to move, Stel?"

Miiko had her hands wrapped around her knees, the sun slowly rising as they sailed in the opposite direction. She had fallen asleep peculiarly early and was now awake even earlier, the difference in times having thrown her off of her sleep schedule, or perhaps it was the fact that she was in a school with a schedule which they followed to a T, so accurate, that it was almost painful not to be on such a schedule. "Can't sleep?" Sam asked, sprawling on the sundeck beside her. It was cold, but Miiko could hardly feel it. "It's strange," Miiko admitted. "Living two lives, going to school, having friends. I've never had anything like that," Miiko said, taking the cup of tea that Sam had offered her. "It was the same for me," Miiko perked up, looking at him. "It was?" Sam nodded, "yes, it was."

"When I first started, I was an orphan. I had burn wounds, I had to pretend that I had amnesia for the longest time and that memories only returned in bits and pieces. Although that was the easiest part, I didn't want to remember." Sam admitted, scratching his cheek. "But now, it's easier I guess, after all this time." Miiko felt terrible of course, "So did they ever find out who bombed the orphanage?" Sam's expression darkened. "I dove into it once I had access, trying to figure it out." He whispered, "but it was unsolvable. The two sides blamed it on one another because they were both there, throwing bombs and making attacks," Miiko placed her hand on his knee. "Sam, if you ever need to talk to anyone about it, I'll listen." Sam smiled, "I appreciate it Miiko, I do, but it's still so hard." He swiped at his eyes to wipe away what could be tears.

"Sam, I'm serious." She said, knowing that he would probably avoid it. "It's okay," Sam shook his head and took a sip of his tea to clear his throat. "Emma White, what was she like?" Sam swiped his tears away once more and coughed once. "She was adorable, a shy little mouse that could only manage a squeak when she was in front of her family. When she went missing, it was like a light went out in the orphanage." Miiko froze, "she went missing before the fire?" Sam nodded, "her and Irina would often sit outside in the garden. Irina disappeared right after that, both of them were seen talking to a man, the local baker who would often come by to offer us leftovers, but he was found murdered two days before they disappeared." A chill went down her spine.

"And they never found her? Or Irina?" Sam shook his head, "I'm still working on it." He took out what appeared to be a notebook, similar to the ones that they used in Yavin, although these were mostly standard. "I've never been able to trace it." Miiko leaned her head on Sam's shoulder. "What was the real Irina like?" Sam laughed, "just like Rose."

On a boat, in the middle of nowhere. The nameless girl was confused, she looked around - and felt something strange wrapped around her, something that didn't make sense. She panicked and whimpered, she wasn't allowed to wear things, she would get in trouble, the Masters would - "Don't move, your injuries are still pretty bad." A girl with brilliant red hair was on the small dinghy next to her, rowing it in the middle of the ocean, no islands in sight. "You're safe now. Do you have a name? You can call me Stella, I'm of the Rebellion." The nameless girl was panicking, she tried to move - but then she felt the bandages and gauze nearly all over her body in crisscrossed lines. "I just said don't move, I know you're a kid, but you should at least know what I'm saying."

The nameless girl opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out. She wasn't mute, she was always able to scream before, but nothing at all came when she tried. The girl, Stella apparently, she sighed with a bit of frustration. "Great, a mutie. Look, just stay calm. The Republic, they're bound to find catch us if they find us, so we gotta be careful." Republic? But that didn't make sense, the nameless girl wasn't from Capitol City, from from Enrya. It was night, the sky was dark, nearly black, but they could be seen easily if they weren't careful enough. At this moment, Stella was about fifteen years old, and the nameless girl was quite a bit younger as well, her blue hair almost shimmering against the dim moonlight. "If you're wondering why I saved you, just look at that mark on your arm." Stella pointed and the nameless girl took the bait and stared.

Why, when did she become a light bearer? Why was there a glowing mark on her shoulder, a music note inside of a bubble, it didn't make sense. Her eyes went wide with even more confusion than before. "Trust me, you don't want to know what the Republics do to light bearers. Even worse, you're Enryan, they hate them." Yes, the nameless girl knew all about it, as an Enryan, she knew the cruel whims of the Capitalists as they walked around the city as if they owned it. The Enryan people were being cruelly oppressed, all because their ancestors fought a war in the past and almost won, before the Republic was even what it was. "I'm going to bring you to the Rebellion, we'll keep you safe there, okay? Oh, but, um, you need a name. Can you write your name?"

The nameless girl stared at her hands, at her reflection, then looked back at the red haired Stella, shaking her head, bewildered. She didn't, she didn't want that name, she wanted a different name, a new name. She didn't want to be her old self that was less than human, she wanted to be a new thing that had the right to be human. "Your hair is cute, so I'm gonna name you Jellyfish." Stella poked her fondly on the nose. "Just wait til I introduce you to my sister, you two'll get along great."

"Once upon a time there was a boy who loved a girl and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering; The History of Love. Well that's just gross!" Gavin stood, dusted his pants off, pocketed his book, and set off into the jungle. Gavin was a boy of many things, but relations was not one. Raised by nature, he had no family to speak of, no questions or past to tie him down. He lived in a forest of dreams, free to make, do, or go wherever he pleased, whenever he pleased. However, with all this freedom came a burden of loneliness too great for a child to wear on their shoulders alone. He looked out the open window, an entire jungle spreading underneath his feet and felt breathless at the insignificance of his own existence. "The last few pages are missing, they're always missing." In a library chocked full of abandoned books, Gavin could scarcely find a novel left whole.

"My... home." One day, Gavin went to the door to call to the jungle and found that it was empty. The land around his beautiful territory had been razed of its trees, its dirt uprooted, something called a Republic setting up a base. Gavin spoke no language of their's, their unfamiliar words and mannerisms were fearsome. Every gesture could have been meant to hurt or maim. He had to protect himself first and foremost. "Hey! Hey! There's a kid here!" A woodsman called, pointing at Gavin with his ax. Gavin lifted the book nearest to him and lugged it at the woodsman's head. "Why you stupid little brat!" The boy did not wait to hear what other gibberish the man had to say, he ran off on his own, into the great green yonder of his home. He scattered books wherever he went, shimmied up tree trunks and used vines to propel himself from one place to next.

"Wow, look! It's a real life Tarzan!" A young, brilliant boy with glasses perched on his nose observed. Gavin had been cornered at the beach, the one place he had believed he would be safe. "Hey kid, what's your name?" They asked, they poked and prodded, but Gavin did not speak their language. They tied him up and sent him on a ship, the boy wearing a tag that spoke far more words than he could. Gavin, meaning 'uncertain.' Perhaps the most appropriate title they could have given him, ironically derived from books of King Arthur. "Don't worry, we're going to Capitol City, a place where you can be anything you want! Well, except a jungle boy." The one with glasses said, kneeling in front of the bars where the other boy was trapped. "My name is Pablo, we should be there in about a week, so sit tight." Gavin spent most of his time pacing, or finding comfort in the one book he had brought with him. "The kid can't speak, but he sure can read."

"Let me go!" Gavin would yell in gibberish. "Release me at once!" On day three their boat was stopped mid ocean, raided by a man and his motley crew of rebels. "There's a kid in here!" Jace Miya said to Varus, who scoffed. "Leave him for the fishes," Jace glared. "It's a kid Varus, he doesn't look like a Republic soldier," the others had abandoned ship, leaving the child alone in his prison. Jace opened the door and extended his hand, the boat quickly sinking. "Come on, I'll take you someplace where you'll never be caged again."

It seemed in the early morning, Miiko had accidentally brushed against the bitter rabbit, allowing Prisca to manifest once more. While she could get by by sleeping physically, for a Spirit, there was nothing quite like returning to her Summoner, because it allowed her energy stores to refuel, it gave her mind a way to process the events of the day. Their minds, these bodies, they weren't natural, so returning to the source made it so that their bodies adapted and updated in order to keep up with the daily grind. Otherwise a Spirit eating endless candy would never gain weight - their bodies would undergo that change in the Summoner and come out modified based on what they did that day. The same applied for muscle, or hair length, or anything, really.

And then she heard a sound, someone was crying. They should almost be at Ornet by now, but still, Prisca had to admit that she was curious, at least a little bit. So she crept to the other room of Sam's boat and heard Aria, she was very much awake, and she was crying, thinking she was all alone and had privacy to protect her pride. Not that Prisca could understand anything she was saying to herself, seeing that it was Japanese. "Ronan... Luna, M... I can't even say your name..." Aria choked and squeezed the pillow harder, slamming her fist against it. "It's so hard... why... why am I the only... th-the only one here...." She sniffed and tried to bury the tears but that only served to make it worse. "It sh-should've been... all of u-us... Y-Yui w-wanted the whole family, s-so please.... somehow.... come b-back to us..." Prisca had a feeling that she shouldn't be here, overhearing, so she returned to her room with Miiko and rested her head on her arms on the desk, listening calmly to the rocking of the sea.

When Sam had breakfast ready, tomato, lettuce, and tofu sandwiches, Aria's eyes were spotless, as if she hadn't been crying at all. "Morning." She said cheerily, waving her hand. "Almost Ornet! So close!" Was it excitement or dread brewing inside of her when it came to coming back home... only a home separated in time, with everyone she once knew dead and gone? "How was your sleep, Miiko?" Prisca asked, finishing her breakfast with a grin. "If Sam's Spirit is here, we both need to be on our best lookout so we can find it!" It wasn't like Prisca to act with such gusto but after finally getting rest in her Rose, she couldn't help this extra burst of energy.

On the horizon, inching ever closer, there it was, Ornet. It was Tokyo, it looked almost like what Tokyo would... except different. Overgrown, nature had taken over what was once human civilization, vines, moss, grass, was growing where it once hadn't been able to. Nature took back what was hers once again. For a moment Aria's grief was obvious in her eyes as she gazed upon her old home and how it was gone forever and Prisca could do nothing but hold her hand, because she felt that same pain, waking up in her home town of New York, drowned by the water almost everywhere you looked.

Miiko finished her breakfast without much fuss. Sam made such strange and delicious things, she had never eaten this strange sponge called tofu. "It's so good, Sam, you should really show Gavin how to make some of these things." Sam winked, "well when you're living on you're own, you pick up a trick or two." He replied, clearing their plates. "I slept well," Miiko spoke in reply to her spirit. "I woke up early though, I think it's because we're on that schedule." Miiko swung her legs underneath her seat, humming to herself. "I'm ure it's buried somewhere in here, it's like you said, they were talking about something like it in school, weren't they?" Miiko stood to look out the porthole. "I can see it!" The four of them ran outside in the brisk morning air to gaze upon the city that was once Tokyo.

"What's that large red gate?" Miiko asked, shivering. She could see her breath in the air, unaware of the pain that Rose and Aria shared in their subtle glances at one another. "That's Ornet's Sacred Monument," the shrine gate of the Sea God. Of course, Sam didn't know that though, he had grown up believing that it was the source of energy for Ornet. "I like it, it's so... different." Miiko smiled, "We have to pretend again don't we?" Sam nodded. "Yes Emma," he winked. Miiko went inside to retrieve her jacket and day bag, this was going to be an interesting adventure. She decided to change clothes at the last second, figuring that if they were going to be outside all day she was going to need to wear something a bit warmer.

"Ready Rose? I mean Irina," Miiko asked, taking in a deep breath. She took the hand of her spirit and stepped off of the boat, onto land. Emma's first impression of Ornet was that it must have once been a very colorful city, what with all these signs and posters that were now faded, but once so vibrant that they screamed they wares out at you as soon as you entered the belly of the beast. "We should check the least popular places first, I doubt that it would be somewhere with a denser population. Otherwise someone would have found it," Sam clapped his hands and rubbed them together, getting his blood pumping. Emma pumped her fist in the air, "adventure!" She squeaked, then blushed and hid quickly behind Irina. "U-um, I-I mean ad-adventure t-tim-time," she held Irina and Sam's hands, walking between them as they skirted around the belly of the city and towards what looked like a more residential area.

"Is it strange being back here?" Sam nodded grimly, "it brings back memories. Some good, some bad," Sam had been born in Ornet, although he had never spoken before about his lineage. Now that Emma thought about it, Sam never spoke a word about himself. "What happened to your parents?" Emma asked, hoping she wasn't prying. "I don't know," am replied and Emma was worried that it was the truth. "I never met my parents, they dumped me in a trash bin behind a supermarket," Emma gasped in horror. "Oh Sam, I didn't know," he shook his head. "It's fine, it's not any different from what your parents did to you. Or what happened to Irina's, we're all orphans, we shouldn't be sorry for each other." That was right, they were all supposed to be orphans.

"Behind." Aria said and then with a shimmer and flick of her fingers, she covered herself in an illusion, rendering herself invisible. Of course since Ornet was Republic territory, they couldn't just let her be seen or anything, Aria would just have to follow along silently behind them. They arrived at Ornet, the boat at the shore at what was once Tokyo, Japan's biggest and most populous city... and now, only city. It was very surreal to see the green vines taking over the buildings, the skyscrapers, reclaiming the land for itself. "Welcome to Ornet, we are glad that you are here." Irina said with an ironic smile, taking Emma by the hand. "I suppose a nice cultural break would be good for us." Considering what happened with Ronan, and the fact that Emma was supposed to be shy, it was a good idea.

"The rumor, what was it again?" She glanced up at the much taller Sam, trying to figure it out. "Under the Electric City." According to Aria, that had something to do with Akiba, didn't it? But maybe over the years the meaning of 'Electric City' changed into something only Sam here would know. Sam went on about his past, not elaborating on much but giving enough information so that they understood. "We're all orphans, though abandonment might be worse than what I had." At least Irina had been loved as a child before her parents were killed in a bombing, at least she wasn't abandoned like Sam and Emma were. A part of her was still worried about the possibility of meeting the real Irina and Emma, but hopefully that wouldn't happen, not until their job was done and it wouldn't blow their cover.

Finally they reached a subway station, stairs leading to the vast underground world. In her head she thought of the subway system to have been drowned by Yui's ocean, but that wasn't the case. "You two remember, don't you?" Sam had a small smile on his face. "Ornetians live in the subway cracks, under the surface." The top of Ornet was almost abandoned, but there was a vast, multi-leveled city built underground. "It's probably not down there." The fact was though that only the destined Caster could remove the Summoner from it's spot, no matter how many others saw it. No doubt many Contraltians have tried to take the star tiara before Stella claimed it for herself.

Then Aria spoke, from somewhere in front of them. "Akiba, follow." She said quietly, making the wind blow. "Follow wind." She needed to stay invisible after all, you never know who might be watching. In the past, many gangs fought for control of Ornet, it was only thanks to a certain Haruka Shoku that it stopped. As gang members, Yakuza, died on the surface in territory wars, Haruka evacuated the innocents underground and helped set up a massive infrastructure to create a new Ornet under the ruins of Tokyo, she even set up a system that tapped into Ornet's Light Seed Shard, using that to power the city and bathe it in light despite being underground. "If your Summoner is here, it'll be hidden somewhere already pre-established at the time of the Calamity, so it wouldn't be in any areas built after."

Rather than going underground they walked the abandoned streets. Emma held tightly onto Irina's hand, the worst thing she could do here was get separated in an unfamiliar territory and be lost among the crumbling sky scrappers. "I wish the rumors about this one were a bit clearer. All we have to go on is what your classmate said," Sam mumble. "If I worked in communications, maybe we wouldn't be going on this wild goose chase." Emma shrugged, "maybe yes, maybe no." Aria was the one who knew the surface the best and therefore they followed her guiding winds, Sam's one hand that wasn't holding Emma's other hand resting on a hip holster. "It's scary," Emma said quietly, shrinking on herself as they walked. "I kind of don't like it." She shook her head, wishing that they had gone into the underground city after all. "It's cold and scary up here," the streets were so quiet that the only audible noises were the ones coming from the distant din of the subway tunnel.

"Where are we going?" Emma asked, hoping that someone would answer, even Aria in that chilly whisper of her's. Eventually they stopped walking, they were in the heart of Akiba and everywhere you looked were what were once neon signs, heavily lit to display all of their wares. "What's that?" Emma asked, pointing to a picture of a half naked woman dressed in black ropes. "Nothing, you don't need to see that," Sam shielded her eyes. Despite being sixteen years old, Emma was awfully innocent. "Come on, let's move past this part," they walked a bit further, arriving somewhere a bit cleaner to take a break. "Here, we can rest our legs and warm up in here," Sam pried open a closed door, the inside of the shop smelling like dust and old people. "I taught myself to read some of the old characters," Sam admitted, "I found a book about the dead languages on one of my trips. This is what they called a manga cafe."

A manga cafe? They did a sweep for cameras or listening devices and once it was declared clean, Emma turned to look for Aria. "It's all clear, you can come out now!" She called to their ghostly friend, hoping that she had followed them into the cafe. Sam handed out hot drinks for them all, having kept it warm in a thermos. "Ah, that's better," Emma's teeth chattered and she wished that they had a car to transport them rather than having to walk on foot. "I know this isn't ideal, but thank you guys for accompanying me on this journey." Emma stuck out her thumb and smiled, "Don't worry about it Sam! That's what we're here for!" She giggled, wishing that their break would not have to end.

This time when they took the streets it was snowing. "Do you really think it's up here?" Where they walking to anyhow? The Monument? No, that was in the opposite direction. "Say, we're not headed towards that large red spiral are we?" It was a tall building with red and white stripes that looked to be made of crisscrossing metal strips.

It was hard to see this as anything more than a ghost, a cemetery of a once bustling, booming city. Although Irina had never been to Tokyo back when she was Prisca, she knew it was supposed to be full of people, everywhere. Seeing it completely devoid of activity, it was awful, to say the least. Aria wasn't enjoying it either, from under her shroud of invisibility, she was doing her best to prevent her heart from crying out at how changed her reality was now. "Let's go in, I need a break." Her crystal white hair swept a little as they entered the manga cafe, and Emma was so innocent oblivious to the more erotic side of human nature, naturally. With a shimmer in the air next to them, Aria appeared with a flashy grin. "Welcome to Akiba." She said, waving her arm grandiosely.

Sam went to busy himself at the antique old coffee machine, getting them warm drinks in order to continue on their journey. Thanks to Raven's connecting of Underground Ornet to the shard of the Light Seed, she also connected the surface to it as well. If someone wanted they could turn on the old abandoned buildings and bring light back to the surface. "My old home." There was a vast sadness that only Irina could really understand. They were displaced by time, no matter how friendly or welcoming people might be, the truth was that they didn't belong here, and once peace was gained, the Spirits would have to leave. Would Aria and Yui still stick around? That was anyone's guess, really, wasn't it? "Tokyo Tower." Aria said, pointing them at the big tower Emma saw as they left the warmth of the manga cafe. Tall and spiraling, that was their destination.

It had been rebuilt after the war, though the Tokyo Skytree was gone, the Tokyo Tower was made back up. Still, it was still dilapidated now, the wear and tear from Raven's day until now were eating away at it. In truth, the only reason Aria knew where it was was because she saw a message in the diner, written in Kanji, it was from Raven, telling her that there was something there that she might need, at the newly built Tokyo Tower. Well not so new anymore, it was about ninety years since then, but the message was still there, waiting dutifully long after Raven's death. The four of them trudged their way through the now falling snow until they reached the base of the tower.

Then Irina felt it, the spatial warp that all dormant spirits made when they still haven't been awoken yet. "It's the space shift, there's a Spirit here." The Martyr warned, it seemed Aria was correct after all. They entered the building and found a room that shouldn't be here at all, a room that looked all too familiar for Irina, she fell to her knees, her head pounding. How? Another Spirit was in the same hell she was in, the same American science lab room where they ran experiments on you, the place was full of test tubes and chemicals and vials and pain and screams and scientists that threatened to cut out your larynx if you didn't stop screaming...

And in the middle of it, on a pedestal, was a small ring, meant for the middle finger, with an insignia on the top of it, of a one winged angel, a gift a certain Xavier King gave his little sister before she was kidnapped by the Americans on the eve of World War Three.

Emma looked up at what they referred to as the Tokyo Tower. A relic of the past, a monument of the future. "Look, there are birds living in it, how cute!" Emma said with a smile, following them inside. Something was off, her stomach felt strange, Emma felt as though she were going to throw up the delicious coffee she had consumed earlier in the day. "Do you think it's in there?" Emma whispered, a chill crawling up her spine. "I hope we don't have to go in," but they did. Emma entered the barrier, her eyes widening in terror. Inside of the warped barrier was something that looked familiar only because she had seen it in another memory landscape. "It's just like yours," Emma whispered, holding onto Irina tightly, protectively. "Sam, you're the only one that can retrieve it." Emma informed him, Sam nodding and swallowing.

He stepped forward, touching the ring. As soon as he made contact the three girls were blown backwards, nearly pushed back outside of the protective barrier. "Do you know her?" Emma asked Irina, hiding behind her. Sam placed the ring on his finger, the girl living through her worst nightmares emerging to the real world. She went from 2D to 3D, now solid and reinforced. Sam held his arms out, her naked body drifting into his grasp. "Does anyone have an extra jacket?" He asked, furrowing his brow. She was asleep, having lived out her nightmares for one hundred years, Emma thought that perhaps she deserved a peaceful rest. "I have an extra one!" She recalled, pulling the coat out of her bag and handing it to Sam so that he could wrap it around her. "Iri, was that what they called America? It's scary, I don't like it."

Emma wrinkled her nose and closed the latch on her bag. "Why do Spirits always appear naked?" Sam lifted her up into his arms once more and pulled the hood over her head. "I don't know, but let's get back to the boat before we all freeze." Emma nodded in agreement and took Irina's hand once more. "Just a little longer Ari, then you can come out." Emma whispered to the light bearer. The now five of them made their way back to Sam's boat, Sam wearing the ring that was his casting item so that she didn't disappear. "What do I do? What if she doesn't wake up?" Sam asked, placing her down on the couch in the common room. "Irina and I will make her something warm to drink and get her a blanket!" This would give Sam the chance to connect with his new spirit.

"It makes me miss home, going on all of these adventures." Miiko said once they were in the kitchen. She pulled out a packet of hot coco and began to boil the water. "So that place, it was like the one in your nightmares. Is that what you told me about? Where they made you a light bearer and a soldier?" Miiko inquired, hoping that she wasn't touching upon a topic that was too sensitive.

Irina felt pale and sick, she never wanted to see this place again, she never wanted anything to do with this place, not after spending a month in there with no rest or relief throughout. If she even tried to speak she would have ended up puking her guts out, the whitette couldn't handle it. Luckily Sam knew what to do and took the ring of the one winged eagle, and that familiar face appeared, first almost a shimmering existence, but finally able to materialize in the real world. Irina saw her a few times while on the field, but they were never particularly close. "Eliza King." Aria said quietly, from her voice she sounded as if she wanted to throw up. "B-best friend sister little." This girl was from Japan, kidnapped by America. The method that worked to turn Prisca into a light bearer, they used it on everyone that came after her.

Miiko produced a jacket to cover her, unlike most Spirits who were able to introduce themselves right off the bat, this Eliza girl didn't seem to be able to at all. "Th-the ugliest... side of America." Irina mumbled queasily, almost clinging onto Emma for support to walk. She had a feeling Miiko was going to get curious about those events. "Cl-clothes aren't part of our soul, you know." A summoner only contained the soul and the Goddess's light, it had nothing to do with clothes or possessions. Eventually they made it back to the boat and they let the boat go out to the open ocean, out of sight before stopping the engine to let them rest. Aria, Prisca, and Miiko went to another room as Eliza began to stir awake, and this was when Miiko asked the question.

"During the Third World War, Japan had the light bearers, no other country had as much as Japan did." It was time to start the explanation, with as much as she knew. Aria was listening, eyes perking up because she knew what was being discussed now. "Because Yui existed, Japan's people were exposed to more light than anyone else... so more natural light bearers were born because of it." Did Miiko understand what that meant in the big picture? "...So that meant Japan had a massive fighting advantage. America had to get creative if they wanted to even the playing field." Aria frowned, remembering the memories with pain in her eyes.

"America took Yui." The wind mage growled, fingers tight around the handle of the hot cocoa mug. "Hurt her. Cut her. Took her light." Prisca nodded gravely, looking away. "...Because they cut off her limbs over and over, even after Yui escaped, America had enough samples to start running experiments." Awful, horrible experiments, to find any way to make the body accept forceful bursts of light. For someone who was never meant to become a light bearer, this process was hell. "Then, with me, they found a method that worked, and started kidnapping more people to get more artificial light bearers. Eliza was one of them." There were dozens, but for every one success, there were a hundred more who were burnt alive in the facilities because their bodies couldn't contain the light.

"Ugly... America?" Miiko inquired, sitting down at the table. America had a past that it was not proud of, or at least, that Rose was not proud of. Aria had joined them in the kitchen, joining in as much as she could about the bad acts that America had committed. Kidnapping, experimenting, burning bodies. "It sounds an awful lot like what L is doing." Miiko admitted, taking a sip of her hot drink. She was really only sipping hot water with lemon, since she was not in the mood for something overly sweet. Miiko had to stick to the diet that they had put her on in school unless she wanted to get punished after their next weigh in. "I don't want anyone to suffer like that ever again." Miiko decided, "Rose, will you help me? You too Aria, I want to save the light bearers." Miiko pushed her seat back and stood, feeling restless. The boat had stopped moving, they would not be back in Capitol City until tomorrow afternoon, or evening at this rate.

"And you were made to be one of those? That girl too?" Eliza was what Rose had called her. Eliza was now a part of the family. "Is she our age? Also sixteen?" Miiko looked between Aria and Rose, wondering if all of the spirits were familiar with one another. "That means there aren't all that many left to find. Who else do you think has a spirit?" Miiko crossed her arms, "I know she denied it, but I think that Lise might be a light bearer, which means that out there somewhere is a spirit waiting for her." Miiko had a strange thought then and she sat back down, having finished her pacing. "Do you think our meeting was an accident?" She confided, eyes clouded with worry. "Because everyone else already had their powers, but I didn't get mine until we met!" Miiko did not want that to be the case.

"It just feels like all of the other light bearers were given their power with a purpose in mind and yet, I didn't have one." Miiko took off her glove, looking at the cat with its crown and rose, awfully intricate. She looked at the spider lily that adorned Aria's hand and wondered how one could be so much more powerful than the next. "I'm sorry if I ask too many personal questions," Miiko added, hoping that they would not get sick of her prying and want to stop talking to her. Rose was Miiko's first and only real friend, since the people that believed her to be part of her family were all being tricked. While Miiko felt terrible, she knew that the onyl way to make them truly family would be to convert them tot he rebellion. "If we could provide proof that L was jailing innocents, we would have a much easier time converting soldiers into rebels."

They cut off Yui's limbs over and over again? Why would they hurt the poor girl like that! Miiko didn't understand how anyone could ever hurt such an adorable little kitten. "Does it hurt being away from her?" Miiko asked Aria, a stupid question that she probably should have kept to herself since the answer was obvious. "You'll be reunited with her soon, don't worry. I'm sure Mommy and Daddy will let you onto Yavin any day now and then you can be happy together."

From hearing how Yui and Prisca and Eliza suffered in the past, and then of course keeping in mind the suffering of the light bearers of today, Miiko was inspired to want to help. Prisca giggled and took her by the hand. "You're a light bearer too, you know, of course you want to save us all." This time was weird though, because usually light bearers were all on one side of a conflict, unless they were manipulated or darkened. This time though, Lise and who knows how many else were on the Republic's side. "We're America's success stories." Prisca said with an ironic roll of the eyes, evidently she didn't see herself as a success, and neither did Eliza. How could you, after suffering through the forced conversion into a light bearer? "Will help." Aria said, and her red eyes flickered with steely determination.

"Seventeen." Aria said, which made Eliza a year older than both Prisca and Emma. The reason Spirits seemed to know each other was because only notable people who had an impact were made into Spirits and put into a Summoner, it was a complex interconnected web at play here. Prisca was the first American artificial light bearer, Callum was the leader of a rebel group opposing both Japan and America, Daisy was a campaigner in Japan that indoctrinated millions to join the military, Eliza was the kidnapped sister of one of Japan's light bearers, Annie was the mechanic that created Shoku's famous airship that destroyed the wall L set up outside of Hungary, Fox was one of the HIVE's leaders who died fighting against Shoku's regime, Essie was a light bearer executed for rebelling - so anyone else that was a Spirit was obviously someone that had a role to play a hundred years ago. "That's seven accounted for, so there's still three more Spirits we don't know about yet." The chances of Lise being a Caster was very high, though, wasn't it?

Miiko not getting her powers until after meeting Prisca was very different from the norm indeed. Everyone else was using their powers before having found their Spirit. This difference had to be significant somehow. "Important." Aria said quickly, her mind was spinning for a way to make sense of this. "Goddess, my sister, don't do this on accident." Her eyes were blazing. "Chosen for special reason." As the elder sister of the Goddess, no one but her would be able to know this - and maybe Yui too. "I'm your Spirit, you can ask me anything you want, o-o-okay?" She frowned a little though, thinking about it. "We can't depose L without defeating the Senate at the same time. One without the other is more threatening than both together."

"Yes." Aria's mouth twitched in great emotional pain, every second she had the burning yearning to return to Yui's side. She was supposed to be Yui's guardian, and after a hundred years, it was her job as a big sister to never let Yui be alone again. As the only two left from that time, she needed to be there for Yui. "Soon." She said affirmitively, wanting nothing more than to be with Yui again.

Sam believed he had done everything he was supposed to. He had cleaned and bandaged Eliza's wounds, or what appeared to be wounds, had dressed and bundled her up in blankets and had attempted to wait patiently for her to awaken. "It's almost dinner time, I should start cooking," Sam stood, the boat had yet to begin its journey back towards Capitol City. He had just touched the doorknob when Eliza's eyes opened and she bolted upright, screaming. "Hey! Hey, it's okay!" Sam said, holding his hands out to her calmly. Eliza blinked a few times and grabbed a pillow to guard herself. "So you're... my caster?" Sam straightened and nodded, holding out a hand, uncertain as to what else he was supposed to be doing. "Yes, my name is Sam, Sam Hans." Sam sat down in the seat across from Eliza and beckoned towards the coffee table, at the hot drink that was till billowing with steam. Eliza reached for it and sipped at the warm drink, leaning back and closing her eyes.

"How long have I been asleep for?" Eliza inquired, her voice soft. Sam quickly did calculations in his mind, "by my estimation, one hundred years and four hours." Eliza choked on her drink, she coughed and spluttered, promoting Sam to jump into action and gently pat her back until she signaled that she was well enough to continue. "That long?!" Sam nodded, wondering if he should approach the situation with a bit more delicacy. "I thought I was dead," Eliza began, "but then there was this strange light and I was reliving my nightmares over and over, I lost track of time." Sam shivered, knowing what it was like to relive your nightmares based on the ones he had every night. "In all technicality, you are dead." Sam said, hoping he wasn't being too harsh, "you were brought back for a second shot, to assist those who want to bring peace and stability to a world wrought with war."

Eliza groaned, "you remind me a lot of my brother's boyfriend," at this Sam blushed. "But I guess that's a good thing since he was a nice boy." Eliza smiled keenly and sipped at her tea. "What's with that smirk?" Sam inquired, his cheeks no longer pink. "Nothing, please, introduce me to your friends on the other side of the door. I can hear them giggling," Sam stood and opened the door to the galley up, gesturing for his allies to enter. "Everyone, this is Eliza King," Miiko was the first to bound inside, waving brightly. "Hello, I'm Miiko! But for the time being, I'm Emma." Eliza seemed confused but did not question what that was supposed to mean.

Miiko stood beside Sam, taking off the bandages to reveal her light bearing mark. "You'll be safe with us, don't you worry. Oh Rose! Come say hi! I think you two know each other," Eliza seemed baffled. How could she possible know anyone one hundred years in the future? "Miiko, I'm not certain how good of an idea that is," Sam believed that perhaps they should ease Eliza into this, but it was too late, Miiko had already ordered Rose to come forward, whether she had intentionally made it an order or not was a mystery.

Both Aria and Prisca were familiar with Eliza King, though in different ways. Prisca approached first, representing the part of Eliza's life after having been abducted by the American Government and turned into a light bearer to fight against her homeland and her loved ones. "X14." Prisca murmured, referring to her serial number, which was how the light bearers under America were named. "It's X1, my real name is Prisca, though my Caster calls me Rose."' She was speaking as Rose here, as the warrior, not the timid little shy mouse. Understanding dawned on the girl and she nodded, holding out a hand. They both had gone through similar things, and they both survived only to die in the Calamity. "I'm Eliza, Prisca." They shared a destiny, even though they hadn't been friends back then, now they had the chance to be.

Aria spoke in Japanese, eyes full of hope that maybe there was someone else that knew her language. Eliza seemed to recognize it as Japanese but anything more than that was impossible. She shook her head, apologetic. "...I - I thought I knew Japanese..." She definitely knew who it was though. "Aria, you're here somehow." The wind mage looked disappointed but not surprised. "Sister.... changed language." She managed to say, because now everyone only knew one language for the whole of humanity. "When you gone, Xavier always regret." Aria felt the need to speak on her old best friend's behalf, holding Eliza by the hands. "...When found you... and you kill him... Xavier died happy, see you again." During a battle over the skies of Austria, Eliza and Xavier found each other... and she was so broken by the reprogramming that she killed him and only realized two days later what she had done.

With that Eliza broke down into tears, the brutal memories of how she killed the last of her family sparking in her mind. In a way the two of them, Eliza and Prisca were children of Yui, it would be good for them to get to see her again, one day. "Sam, can we go back to Yavin?" Since they still had three days left before having to report back at the Military Academy, they certainly had time. It wasn't like anyone was going to question where they went or anything. "I think we should drop Aria off there, and let Eliza meet the Rebellion so she'll know what's going on." The way she was right now, newly brought into a strange, nigh impossible world, well, suffice to say, it wouldn't be bad to give her a break and ease her to the situation slowly.

Aria and Eliza were kind of peripheral friends, but for someone that was so close to her brother back when he was alive it was very much a comfort to have her here, even if it was somehow impossible. Aria went to hug Eliza, who was once a classmate of her sick younger sister whose name was erased - even if Eliza didn't remember her, it didn't mean her kindness was gone. "We should take them to Yavin." Prisca offered in a low whisper to the sound of the gentle tides around them.

"I think making a stop in Yavin is a good idea," it was too dangerous having Aria around, Sam felt as though depositing her in the hands of the rebellion was the best and most responsible thing to do. If they found a light bearer at his house, Sam would be in a terrible amount of trouble. "I'm going to go set in the coordinates and start on dinner," they would hav to take a boat to Jasper and then to Yavin, because of Sam's boat was found anywhere close to Yavin, the coordinates could be traced by L and the entire rebellion would be screwed. Miiko remained quiet while the three girls had a reunion, feeling a little bit awkward since she was the only one that didn't personally know Eliza. Miiko could understand what Aria was saying and it was heartbreaking. The brunette could only hope that she would never have to kill her sibling, or be so far gone that she couldn't even recognize Stella.

Miiko went to the porthole to look outside, "The stars are beautiful," she murmured, setting herself down on the window ledge to watch them blink from their position in the sky. The good news was, was that they were closer to Jasper than they were Capitol City, therefore they would get there by morning rather than noon. The engine revved, the boat began to move and Miiko heard sounds in the kitchen, Sam was cooking up a meal fit for a welcome back to Earth. "I should probably catch you up with all that's happened in the world," Miiko decided, since she was the only one that could do this. Had anyone done this for Aria yet? Or had she simply been adjusting to the language and new culture that came with the destroyed planet? Miiko stood, wishing that she had a whiteboard like Captain Roz.

"After the Calamity, the world was submerged underwater! Almost everyone died!" Miiko sounded strangely excited about this. "The world went boom because Yui-well, I'll let her tell you that part, but afterwards, the remainder of humanity had to rebuild. That's where the Monuments come in," Miiko drew what could be considered a house with her fingers in the air. "They're the essential pieces that allow our islands to thrive, a life force, I think you could call them. Once the islands formed, people were able to move back onto land. There they built small civilizations, unknowing about the other islands. As humanity advanced, they set off to learn more about what the world had become, after a hundred years of near peace between islands, I said near, there are some islands that are waging war, light bearers began to resurface."

Miiko took in a breath, aware she had been speaking quickly. "Sometime during the last fifteen years, a man named L became the elected official of Capitol City. Before that, he captured the light bearer named Yui, whom I think we could consider the mother of all light, unless we want to consider the one called M that no one remembers to be her? Which would make sense. M is for Mother!" Miiko nodded, "M is for Miiko too! Anyhow, L found that some people having these light bearing abilities is too dangerous and similar to how the world ended in the first place, so he has made it his mission to jail light bearers and keep them isolated from the rest of society. He also wants to take over the rest of the islands and bring them under the Capitol's reign."

Prisca went to excuse herself to the deck then, letting Miiko tell Eliza all about what's been happening. And that was when on the horizon, as the faint outline of Capitol City made itself known on the distance, something else was going on. She didn't recognize those boats approaching them, but she had a feeling Sam would. Prisca dashed down to find Sam in the kitchen, halfway through making dinner for them. "Some boats are getting close, something weird is going on." Sam took a look out the window and he paled. "It's the SSF, the Senate Special Forces, this is bad. Rose, I'm going up top, tell Miiko to come and Eliza and Aria to hide." Rose nodded and went down to where Aria was staring out the window, she had already seen the boat. "Enemies." She murmured tensely.

"Aria, you need to go invisible and hide, hide Eliza too." She nodded and with a shimmer both Aria and Eliza vanished. "It's the Senate Special Forces, soldiers that directly serve the Senate." She told Miiko, taking her by the hand to go back above deck to where Sam was. Big brother Sam had his megaphone out, conversing with Special Agent Hoffman. "The Senate wants to do an interview with your two sisters." Hoffman declared as all three of them made it, standing together as the three enemy ships surrounded them. "No one should be above the law, any refugees, no matter who vets for them, needs to be screened for the safety of our citizens!" It sounded reasonable, but they couldn't afford to be screened, not if they wanted to remain free. But how were they going to evade this?

Sam had an idea, and he spoke bravely. "We're on a therapeutic break, thanks to a certain top secret project that hurt my sister, Emma." Sam said loudly, no doubt worried about the food he was in the middle of making as well. "If you still want them screened, please hand in a formal inquiry to President L once we have returned on this coming Saturday." Hoffman's nose scrunched him and he glowered. "L's a corrupt President and you know it." He hissed, and Irina had a faint feeling he was going to attack them if they weren't careful. "He's always giving special favors to his Elite Four, letting them avoid the law's judgment whenever he wants." The power play of the Senate and the President was clear.

"Pablo Star consistently evades paying his taxes, and he's always doing secret projects that the Senate isn't allowed to see." Hoffman was almost on a rant now. "Lise Windsor is a child yet she's allowed to fight and kill in wars?" Irina held Emma's shoulders, just in case this was about to turn violent. "Orianna Bell's own sister betrayed us and is aiding the Rebellion, what if Orianna is secretly feeding them information? But L blocked all attempts to interview her!" He pointed his finger directly at Sam then. "And now you're running around at sea, evading us when we're trying to see your sisters and ask them basic questions." Sam frowned and went back to the controls. "We have business in Jaspar, we can continue this once we arrive back at Capitol City."

The cannons on the other three ships cocked, they were ready to fire. "Don't move or I'll shoot." Hoffman said, a clear threat, but Sam wasn't even almost fooled. "Our ship was recording this exchange, if you attack first, it'll be you who broke the law and attacked a Republic Government Official first." He smiled, the true prince of the rebellion. "I suggest you wait for our return this Saturday, we can talk then."

Miiko was speaking in a vastly descriptive way to Eliza and Aria, who were both confused and trying to keep up with Miiko's word-a-second speech pattern. "And then Stella disappeared!" She was just saying when Sam and Rose came in to tell Aria and Eliza to hide. "What is it? What's wrong?" Miiko asked, grabbing her jacket. She held onto Rose's hand, sensing that she was going to need to play the part of Emma. "What's going on?" Emma squeaked, the personality coming forth, needing no prompting or preparation now that Miiko was used to switching back and forth. She did not let go of Irina's hand, having a feeling that something awful would happen if she did. Who were these boats? Why were they suddenly surrounded? Sam was already mid conversation with them by the time the two girls had surfaced.

"I'm scared, what do they want with us?" Emma inquired, tugging on Sam's sleeve. "Don't worry about it, I'll take care of this." Sam turned back to them, making sure to point out that they were only scaring the poor, traumatized girl further. "Sam, I don't want them to take me away, I didn't do anything. That robot only picked me because I was the smallest," Emma made sure to play that card, she looked small and frail, not exactly the typical picture of someone who would enroll into the military. Perhaps they would only believe that Emma got picked because of the fact that she was female? They were, after all, attempting to make the military seem more welcoming to girls as a viable career option. What Emma would make of it, she wasn't sure.

"Please don't let them take me!" Her knees grew weak and she fell to the ground at Irina's feet, "I won't let them," he reassured her. "Irina, why don't you take Emma to calm down? We'll be continuing shortly." Sam was right, the Senate could not stop another military vessel simply because it was suspicious. Emma allowed them to carry her inside and once they were out of sight she wriggled out of the person who was carrying her's arms. "How did I do?" Miiko asked eagerly, the boat sailing quietly towards Jasper once more. Sam quickly squeezed past them to go check on the food in the kitchen, not wanting it to burn. "Do you think they bought it? I did my best to act scared." Miiko even pretended to pee herself a little.

"It's safe to come out now!" Miiko called, wriggling out of her jacket and placing it on the rack to hang up. "Do you think they'll let us keep going peacefully? You don't think they're asking for reinforcements do you?" Miiko inquired to Rose in concern.

Despite the Elite Four having seemingly a black mark in all of their histories, Irina knew for sure that it was in her interest that the Elite Four continue to exist. While she's only met L once so far, in Jaspar, Pablo, Orianna, Lise, and obviously Sam as well, they were all reasonable people, weren't they? "Any concerns you have can wait until Saturday." He was going to send L a message in the meantime and try to have Pablo or L take care of matters to divert the Senate's attention. "Have a good day." Irina gave a peerless smile at Special Agent Hoffman who was very evidently not an ally. "We're going to save Capitol City from the rebels, and this is how you repay your future soldiers." With a smile she helped Emma into her arms and carried her out out of the way, mentally congratulating her for the perfect performance of the scared little girl.

It seemed the SSF knew better than to give pursuit, evidently they were well aware that they couldn't continue with the attempt to take the girls in for questioning. Once they were safely away from the enemy, Rose booped Miiko right on the nose. "You were great, I was worried you were actually scared for a moment there." If she could fool Rose, she could definitely fool the Senate Special Forces, couldn't she? "Yes, they can't attack us, not unless they want a diplomatic incident on their hands." The way Rose saw it, it was like this. "They want concrete evidence against L in order to get rid of him, and they think we're in on his conspiracy so they're targeting us, the supposed 'weak link' in the Elite Four." It was funny how two rebels were being considered allies of the Elite Four and L, wasn't it? Oh, how the wheels of fate spun.

It was still going to be quite a while until they reached Jaspar, they had enough time to sleep and then wake up and still have a few hours until they reached the commercial hub of the Eastern Isles. Sam set up the autopilot and now they were well on their way once again, their dear big brother and fellow rebel had gone back to work in the kitchen. "What... happened?" Eliza asked, clearly she was still confused about everything in this new world. It was hard to adjust especially early on, Prisca knew very well what it was like. "Enemies, but because Sam's a part of the Government we got away with diplomatic immunity for now." Still, how long L and his cadre could keep the Senate off their backs was a question she didn't want answered.

"M-Miiko, we should collaborate a story that fits no matter what question we're asked..." Just in case, you couldn't be too careful now. "We can't let the politics of the two sides get in the way of our mission." She thought, was there a way to do it? A way to make it work? "Jace probably expects us to find a way to abuse the politics to make both sides kill off each other..." Before she could think too hard and hurt her head, Sam's call reached them, that food was ready. "Wonder what to eat?" Aria licked her lips, glad for a distraction.

Miiko giggled, "I'm fine, don't worry. I scared you didn't I? But um, truth be told I was a little frightened of what would happen if I got taken away by them." Miiko squirmed, feeling as though she was being watched, even now. She breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that no, they would not be taking Miiko nor Rose anytime soon. "I'm just afraid because Ronan was a robot and well... we all know how machine sort of failed us," Miiko watched the ships retreat through the porthole in the living area of Sam's boat. "Oh, but you probably don't know about that... I guess I'll have Sam explain, since he's more mechanical." Miiko wasn't all that smart, she wouldn't be able to tell her spirit in a way that made sense. Sam had much more brains, he was more than likely the man for the job.

"We should discuss this with Sam too, but I had an idea. What if we said that we went looking for another of the orphans after hearing that they might be alive? But instead we came across someone who was injured and sick, not expelled per say, but an orphan, just not one of the ones we know?" Miiko already had an elaborate background all cooked up for Eliza. "This way she can keep her first name and she won't need a new identity or collaboration because she'll exist, she's just not from our timeline." Neither were Aria or Rose, but that was beside the point. Rose already acted as though she belonged. She had a swagger about her that spoke in volumes of confidence. It made Miiko look up to Rose almost as much as she looked up to Stella.

Miiko shook her head once more. "Daddy wouldn't want us to kill anyone, he wants people to live, but he wants to dismantle the senate and remove L from power, that way the people can speak for what they want by themselves." Miiko crossed her arms, but not in an standoffish manner, more like an uncomfortable one. "Did you know most of the people living in Republic City can't leave the City without permission?" That shouldn't have come as a surprise considering they couldn't even leave their designated zones unless it was for work or school. "They're entire lives are spent like bees working mindlessly to feed the Queen of a hive. Daddy doesn't want that, he wants freedom and equality for all, which can't happen with L and the Senate in power." Even if L was technically an 'elected' official, what were his qualifications to lead a country?

"Girls, dinner!" Sam called, having set the table. The smell of food wafted into the room and Miiko's stomach rumbled with the reminder that they had not eaten lunch. "I guess we should collaborate our story with Sam's now?" She suggested, the purr of the engine underneath her feet rather comforting. Miiko took Rose's hand, finding comfort in the gesture as she walked with her spirit towards the galley.

Dinner with the five of them, Sam, Aria, Eliza - who was still a little confused about everything - and of course, Prisca and Miiko were all here to eat. Miiko and Prisca had spoken of important things, and now was the time to bring it all up. "We came up with a cover story for Eliza, s-so.. so she doesn't have to worry about, um, a fake identity on top of e-everything else." She squirmed, suddenly embarrassed. "N-not that I don't think she can h-handle..." Self loathing boiled inside of her, why did she always have to rely on Rose or Irina to handle things, why couldn't Prisca, her real and true self, be anything more than a pile of crap? All she could do was stutter and be shy, no matter how much she could act haughty and flawless like Irina, or bloodthirsty and serious like Rose, they were all just fake masks to hide the pathetic truth.

So they told both Eliza and Sam the fake cover story, that Eliza was an orphan they found while trying to relocate missing members of the family that might have survived the bombing. It was a grim reminder of the fact that Irina and Emma might just very well be out there, somewhere. "So you'll be an orphan, just not one of ours." Would Eliza be considered family? Hopefully she would get the same protection that the Elite Four gave to Irina and Emma. "Okay, I'll do my best." Eliza nodded, trying to commit it all to memory. Sam seemed mildly impressed. "Looks like you two were hard at work, weren't you?" Yes, but now they needed to come up with a story that would fit together just in case the Senate tried to take them and interrogate the sisters separately.

"I... s-s-suspect th-that, um..." Prisca blushed again, stuttering and falling all over her own words. Why couldn't she be like Irina or Rose, why did she have to be her wretched self? An act would always remain an act, her true self would never, ever change. "W-we'll be asked... a-a-about that... that m-mysterious man th-that took us..." She squirmed, looking down, avoiding everyone's gaze. "J-Jaspar salesman wh-who died d-during the at-attack, maybe." Or perhaps it was a stupid story for how they ended up in Jaspar. Not to mention, they would have to give a name and then run it through the logs to see if there really was a salesman that died there. No, that plan wasn't going to work.

"You'll probably be questioned about Nino, too." Sam said in thought, not pointing out the humiliated Prisca, thankfully. "It would be suspicious to say you never heard of her - it'll be better if you say you know her as the architect behind the Sand Prison." He paused and added, almost like an addendum. "And she helped make the SimulCrum as well, since Pablo never fails to give her credit where it's due." Aria blinked in confusion and then pointed a finger right at Prisca. "Who?" She asked with amusement. "Usually so calm, why so shy?" Prisca flinched and tried to make herself as small as possible in her chair.

|| Stand By Me|| Florence and the Machine ||

After dinner Miiko turned in early, feeling ever so tired from a full day of activity and the scare of nearly being taken by those goons that worked for the senate. "Goodnight Rose," Miiko whispered, laying down in her bed. She was dressed in her pajamas, her bitter rabbit set carefully upon her bed. She wasn't touching her though, because she wanted Rose to be able to retreat into her artifact and recharge for the next day, which was surely going to be an interesting journey to Jasper, hopefully without the interference of the Republic's Senate. "Don't let the bed bugs bite," with that Miiko fell into a deep, peaceful rest for the evening. She did not feel the bed move or Eliza crawl into it beside her, finding Miiko easy to hug while she rested. She couldn't sleep in Sam's room of course and it should be fine since she would disappear in a matter of minutes.

Yui stared out the window longingly. She had moved into Miiko's room upon Stella's insistence since they wanted Yui in the main house and not in the place where Gavin and Jellyfish resided, which was a different small house located right across of Jace and Athena's. Since they were uncertain how long it would be until Miiko returned and Essie had now moved in, they needed to maximize space, so Yui could no longer sleep in Stella's room. She had her own bitter rabbit, the one that Miiko had given her just before leaving, a sign of friendship Yui hoped. She was doing much better here and while she still refused to use her ability, Yui had gained weight and seemed to be thriving once more in an environment where she could spend everyday outside. Where she could curl up on the couch with a set of protective older figures that would watch over her and were related to her own family.
Yui dare to think it, but she was beginning to consider Jace and Athena almost an Aunt and Uncle.

A knock on the door disrupted Yui from her thoughts. "Hey there," Gavin said, giving a friendly wave. He wasn't accompanied by his spirit, who apparently enjoyed taking evening strolls alone to gather his thoughts. "H-hi," Yui said shyly, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. Her hair was so long that it swept across the floor. In the daytime Yui kept it tied up or braided, but it was beginning to grow heavy and bothersome. "I brought a gift," Gavin took a pair of scissors out from behind his back. "Want to come outside? It's chilly," Yui nodded, following Gavin out of the house, past where Athena was knitting on the couch and where Essie and Stella were tying to put together a puzzle, having spirit-caster bonding time. Yui wished that she had a spirit, if she did perhaps she wouldn't feel so lonely.

"Here, I think this is a good spot." Gavin cleared a chair, removing the snow and putting down a tarp. "I'm ready," Yui said, sitting down and allowing him to tie off her hair. "This much?" He inquired, going to about mid back. "Shorter, I want it to be up to here," Yui pointed to the bottom of her ears, short hair. "Are you sure?" Yui nodded, "it grows fast, so if I don't like it I won't have to wait long," Yui closed her eyes, waiting. The snip of the scissors made the first cut, Yui's head instantly feeling lighter. "A new beginning, a new you," Gavin said as he snipped away, the remainder of her hair just below her ears. "Do you want to see?" Gavin had brought a mirror with him as well. Yui looked into it, eager, only to be dismayed by the fact that she still looked like herself.
No more mature or older, like she had hoped. "Thank you," Gavin handed her the hope of hair that he had tied up. "What do you want to do with this?" Yui took it, uncertain. "I want to burn it." This hair had been grown during the time she had been in captivity, perhaps if she burned it, it would finally get rid of that last bit of her old self.

In a realm above the rest, as the five on Sam's boat were prepared boarding the ferry to go to Yavin, Mizuki and Thanos, the two players of the game, sat at their game table, a new conundrum on their hands. "The Ronan thing was dirty." Mizuki muttered, biting her thumb at her enemy, Thanos, the embodiment of darkness and of power. Mizuki was the opposite, naturally, representing light and justice. Neither of them really existed as their own individual entities anymore, the ones playing the game were closer to being concepts instead. "Not as dirty as bringing Aria back to the game." Was Thanos's trite response as he made his move on the table. While Mizuki had specific pieces she could use and manipulate, Thanos's pieces were more akin to a thirst for power, he played by triggering the sin residing inside of someone and having them act on it to hurt others.

Then someone walked in to serve them tea, allowing the two players a bit of a break for the time being. Michael Angeal - because he was an angel, he was able to exist outside of his Summoner, the pin of an angel wing that resided in the mountains of Aurum, waiting for Ally's descendants to find. "Michi, it's almost time." Mizuki murmured to him and he nodded, their conversation ending just as quickly as that. "I'll do my best, Mizu." Thanos watched with amusement but as soon as Michael left his expression darkened. "We both know this game is only a farce." He said, glaring hard at his opponent, who was already devising plans for her next move. "We should just abandon this boring game and go to the next one, this game is just a fake attempt to bring back what was lost." She pretended to ignore him and continued to stare at the board. "You're a concept now, you're not allowed to show favoritism anymore."

It was against the rules for a concept to do anything but serve their role. It would be like a parent showing favoritism for one child and ignoring the other. "A true neutral and impartial Justice would have been on the Senate's side against Enrya's cruelty." L said again, eyes narrowing further. Mizuki shrugged and turned away from him. "Once I give that girl a happy ending, I'll be impartial." She said softly, her fingers dancing daintily against the game board as she organized pieces. "I won't play favorites after that, okay?" For a moment she thought Thanos was going to get up and leave the game but he remained seated, and made his next move, preparing for another attack.

In the beginning the game didn't really exist, in the beginning it was just the two of them, but Mizuki knew Yui's last chance of a happy ending was here, and knew she couldn't let go of her humanity without saving her cute little sister, one last time. Was that so much to ask for, was it such a bad thing? "...Thank you for being willing to play with me." If Thanos hadn't sat down and agreed to be her opponent, this game would be impossible and Mizu would have had no choice but to be impartial, even if it meant hurting Yui. "It's to teach you how to reign as a Concept." Thanos growled, eyes flashing dangerously. "It was supposed to be Yui in that chair, but you stole it from her. You weren't meant to have this fate, so I will train you until you're suitable." That certainly sounded like a challenge. Mizuki grinned wildly. "Train me all you want, but you won't stop me from giving Yui the ending she deserves!"

Re: Kith and Kin

I'd like to continue but if the GM themselves doesn't show interest in it anymore I think hoping for it to continue will be a bit pointless^^; I can't yet make rapid fire posts so I don't want to bring Clara back in the event everyone starts posting regularly:T

Re: Kith and Kin

i suspect this is indeed a case of lost momentum...courtesy of technical difficulties

Re: Kith and Kin

I was in love with this roleplay, is there yet hope? Are you there?

Re: Kith and Kin

I almost thought the site was down for good! Well I'm totally still into this roleplay

Re: Kith and Kin

So my post has been edited. I just deleted the part where she saw the Breaking News report. Any who. I didn't expect for the site to be down for so long. Unfortunately I only about three days left til school starts and I've birthday party to attend tomorrow and then a baptism the next day>~> I won't be able to write for Claramae for a while since Tuesday is the first day of school:T

With that being said I'll just leave Clara as she is, so I guess you could just edit her out of the more recent posts^^; Sorry for making ya'll do this. I'm sure it's quite the hassle to look over the posts and take out the bits with Clara in them>.<I should be ready to post again by the weekend of next week albeit I won't be able to post at my usual pace;~; I look forwards to us resuming the posts again. Even if I won't be able to post for her I'll be sure to stay up to date with what everyone is doing IC^^

On a different note. Yay! I'm so happy the site came back on^w^ I thought it'd be gone forever hehe. . .

Re: Kith and Kin

@Polar, thank you for letting me know.

@Nekohina, I know! I'm so happy everything is up again!

Re: Kith and Kin

holy shit, everything works again

Re: Kith and Kin

@Queen
I won't be on for the rest of this week, save for later today, and I'll be pretty busy next week as well>~<

With that being said I think it'd be best if you guys were to ignore the fact that Claramae had even arrived. I don't think it'd do me or anyone any good if she is dragged around and just ignored because I won't be able to play her. I definitely don't want to hold anyone up. I'll be back later today to see what the verdict is and then I'll proceed to edit/delete some parts of my post. I sincerely apologize if I cause you all trouble in doing so>.<

Oh and just to let some of you know, regardless of the fact that I'll be editing my post, Claramae did not have a look that said she did not find the others. She was very much happy to see them. Also earlier in my post I had her take off her cooks uniform before she left the restaurant she worked at. They're just little details that you guys missed but it was just nagging me so I just thought I'd point that out to you guys>~<

Re: Kith and Kin

Ignore this sorry...

Re: Kith and Kin

@Neko
You and me bothx3

Any who I posted^^ Yay! I didn't mean to write so much but I got excitedxD Any who I look forwards to how Albrecht tells them he's there as well as when Magna and Isana come inx3

Also any word from Jeydon? Or have they been booted?

Re: Kith and Kin

hmm now that Im actually looking at my color picks...I do believe I need to find some better colors for the sake of visibility. Because I honestly can't tell my texts apart.

Re: Kith and Kin

Yes, I suppose we can do that.

Re: Kith and Kin

Don't suppose we can convince you start this up within the next day or so and let the last one uh "catch up" as it were?

Re: Kith and Kin

Can't wait to start :3

Re: Kith and Kin

It is possible that they found each other before the others, yes. Also, Jeydon has until midnight to finish their character, otherwise they will be booted.

Re: Kith and Kin

I cannot wait until we begin! I look forward to roleplaying with you all, are we simply waiting on one more character now?

Re: Kith and Kin

Hi Polarbear, I sneaked myself in.

Re: Kith and Kin

@Jynxii
Oh~ I see you chose Yunox3 Why is she so damn pretty yet so friggin scary>~>

@Neko
Hey! Didn't see you therex3

Welp Claramae is complete^w^ Feel free to send me pms or something for whatever reason you can think of>w<

@Queen
Just a quick question. Is it possible for one or two of the siblings to have met up before they all get together? Say Albrecht arrived at the same place as Miiko, would that be possible?

Re: Kith and Kin

yaaay. \o/

Re: Kith and Kin
