With a touch of the rose from her Caster, it was enough to drag Prisca out of her pleasant purgatory dream. It was just as well - eventually, once Miss Burns, the homeroom teacher, once she got their eyes on them and invited the sisters to the Library Club, everything would only start to take turns for the worst, ultimately resulting in disaster for everyone. Miiko screamed in fear as Rose arrived, telling her to enter through the door next time. "U-um.." Rose fidgeted with her borrowed nightgown, pulling at the hem, looking down as always. "Spirits enter their Summoner once they're asleep.... r-remember?" Did Miiko forget? "I-I'm sorry... but you t-touching the Summoner is wh-what wakes me up." She still felt bad for startling Miiko, no matter how much her Caster pretended she hadn't been frightened.

The weather was going to only get chillier and without a ready supply of heat and electricity it was going to be rough for her. While Governments were harsh and cruel in Prisca's day and age, they did have amenities such as heating and video games and the internet, things that simply didn't exist in this world. Humanity and civilizations as a whole were still on the mend, so it was going to take a very long time before the luxuries became possible once again. There were quite a few people to meet, Gavin and Callum were attending the meeting, as were Jellyfish and Daisy - though the former was fast asleep and the latter was rigorously writing notes down to inform her Caster once she decided to wake up and rejoin the meeting. There was also another, some sort of engineer genius girl with red hair the same shade as Callum's.

"Thanks to yesterday's supply run, I already have plans in place to set up Yavin's power grid." Nino said with a flashy grin, looking a little bit too pretty to be some mechanical tinkerer type. Prisca half expected her to be someone a little more rugged looking, not this attractive sporty-looking girl. Things were looking good on that front at least. "We can get the factories working again, have them arm and gear our rebels for the Jaspar battle." Because Jaspar was going to be a big operation. If they could defend it, then the economic city of commerce would put their lot in with the rebel alliance, maybe even help fund them when needed. "The Red Fleet is causing trouble up in the far north right now." Gavin added as a side note to Jace. "We can take advantage of their distraction to get to Jaspar and start getting the defense ready."

So they would have to establish relations with Jaspar's mayor. Gavin and Callum seemed to want to take care of that role, and Daisy volunteered to go with Jellyfish to help build walls and barricades to hold back L's army. That left the organization and distribution of a local fighting militia force to Prisca and Miiko. And then the next thing she knew, they were on the ferry to Jaspar, ready to start preparing for the invasion.

Miiko sat huddled in her jacket on the deck of the ferry, blowing on a mug of hot chocolate. The entire team was here, with Jellyfish awake and alert, making wild hand motions towards Daisy, Gavin and Callum handing out hot chocolate, and five other rebels all in disguise. "Want some?" Miiko inquired, handing a mug over to Rose. "It's so cold," Miiko groaned with a heavy yawn. She huddled against Rose for warmth, wishing that this darn boat had proper seats and not just benches. "I wish we could have just stayed home today," Miiko seemed to be just full of complaints. She hid her face in her scarf, wishing that she had better gloves. Perhaps if they passed a glove stand Miiko would buy a new pair because her's were now old and tattered. Rose was borrowing Stella's gloves, otherwise Miiko would have worn those.

Miiko's face fell, her expression becoming serious for but a minute. "You don't think we'll see Pablo and Lise again, do you?" If they were caught handing out weapons, they could get in a lot of trouble. "Not only is what we're doing illegal, but we're-well-you're a ghost!" Miiko whispered this as though Rose didn't know she was a ghost, she didn't want to offend Daisy or Callum, but since Rose was her's, well then Miiko supposed it was just fine. "If people find our there are more light bearers, there'll be another war all over again!" The ferry had some difficulty trying to dock in Jaspar due to the heavy snowfall. Closer to the shore, the water had froze and one of the seamen had to go out onto the ice and hit it with a sledgehammer until a path had been cleared for their boat to dock at the small wooden port.

"Watch yer step!" The Captain yelled while they shuffled one by one towards the step ladder that was brought down for their convenience. Miiko jumped right off and waited a minute for Rose and the supplies. There were two other rebels present to assist them today, ones who would do all of the heavy pushing since Miiko was quite small and weak. "Hey, when am I gonna find out?" Miiko placed her hands on her hips, light bearing mark covered by one threadbare glove. "I want to know what my ability is already, everyone else knows theirs! Apparently they knew as soon as they got one?" In an overly dramatic fashion, Miiko gasped. "What if I don't have one!? What if all I can do is summon you!" Not much use that would be in a fight, sure it was a great magic trick, but Miiko wanted a cool superpower like a normal light bearer.

While the group started walking, Miiko wound and unwound a strand of hair from between her thumb and index finger, worried about not having a cool ability. What if her's was lame? What if she could only do something stupid, like draw light in circles or turn invisible? Stella had the coolest ability, in Miiko's opinion, Miiko already knew that whatever she was given, it would not be as good or as useful as Stella's. "How long is this gonna take? It's too cold to stand out here all day and hand out weapons!" One of the rebels shushed Miiko, "not so loudly!" He hissed, stopping at a cross section.

The hot chocolate felt like liquid warmth spreading through her body as she drank it, it was exquisite, but also strangely, it made her parched and incredibly thirsty. But drinking water to quench the thirst of the melted chocolate just made her cold again it was a vicious cycle! "Th-thank you, it helps a lot." Even this quaint wintry robe wasn't enough to fully protect her from the elements. "If we do more missions, m-maybe we'll be allowed to help fight." Before leaving to the dock, Jace spoke to Prisca privately, reminding her that they were to hide and evacuate as quickly as possible if L's forces did come, because under no circumstances was Miiko allowed to fight and put herself in danger. It was all well for Rose, who was reluctant to go back into being a killer, but eventually that would have to change.

"I hope not, they were... they were probably in Jaspar to scout out the place." Lise and Pablo didn't seem like bad people, but regardless of that, they were still enemies that needed to be dealt with eventually. As for her being a ghost, well... of course she was, otherwise, how would she be able to exist here? "O-one day maybe I'll tell you h-how I died." She said this with a meek half grin, trying to be more conversational with Miiko. They were Caster and Spirit, so why was Prisca still so shy with her? "Y-your father said something about ten Spirits, though only three were chosen by their Casters so far." Would all ten be needed to win this war? What if some of the ten ended up being used by Casters on the enemy team? That was an uncomfortable thought.

Jaspar was going to be a complicated situation, wasn't it? And it was so cold, Prisca wasn't sure she was going to enjoy scuttering about outside, why not just stay inside and just relax in Tanka's house or something? Unfortunately this was the life of a rebel, not the life of a couch potato. Upon eavesdropping Daisy and Jellyfish approached - though mostly Daisy, since Jellyfish was being pulled by the arm and wasn't even looking at them. "Once we rest at three at the base, we should have a practice fight, maybe your ability will show itself then." That was how most light bearers discovered their gift, in a time of distress or need. "Won't it be l-lopsided because you two already have yours?" She asked pointedly, and Daisy giggled a tinkling sort of laugh and said nothing more as the two girls set off for their job.

Jaspar was the same as yesterday except now with a fine layer of white powdery snow lacing the sidewalks, footsteps revealing the painted lines so people still knew where to go through this maze-like city. "W-well, let's go to base first." Tanka's house. There they could warm up and he could introduce them to the local rebellion supporters that would be willing to take up arms. "Tanka sh-should be expecting us."

Miiko balled her hand into a fist, a wild grin riding her lips. "I accept your challenge!" She declared loudly, "and I will battle you when we return to the base!" The man beside her tried to hush her, but it was too late. Luckily, no one was paying the little pink haired girl much attention. "Come on Rose, let's take them on now!" It was a joke of course, Miiko couldn't take them on in broad daylight, but Daisy should have known better than to issue the challenge to the easily excitable Miiko. "We'll beat them, don't worry Rose," Miiko grinned confidently, placing her hands on her hips. "Hey you two! Come help!" Miiko sighed and lifted up her rope, assisting of the tugging packages into place. They stalked down the snow street, slipping and sliding until they reached Tanka's shop.

"Oh thank goodness! I'm so cold!" Miiko shivered, Rose seemed to have the same idea; Miiko nodded in consent. "Yes, let's!" Miiko said, taking Rose's elbow and leading her into the building. The rebels allowed Tanka's men to bring the bundle of supplies inside via the garage. "Girls! Welcome!" A tall boy with black hair whirled around, wearing a grin. "Sam!" Miiko ran into his open arms, jumping into their welcome. "Miiko, it's been a while hasn't it?" Miiko's eyes sparkled when Sam put her back down on her feet. "Yeah, way too long!" Miiko agreed with a fervent nod. "Are you gonna introduce me to your cute friend?" Sam asked, the buckles on his Republic Uniform shining in the low light of the garage. Miiko bound over to Rose and took her hand, pushing her forward.

"Sam, this is Rose, my ghost! Rose, this is Sam, a spy for the rebellion!" Sam's eyes glittered in amusement, it was clear that he thought of Miiko as a cute little kitten, just like everyone else. "Rose," he took Rose's hand in his, kissing her fingertips. "What a beautiful name that is," he stood upright, his hand dropping Rose's. Miiko sighed in slight jealousy. "We don't have many of those around here, although I'm sure your generation is accustomed to a much wider variety of botany than we are." Miiko blinked, what was botany? She didn't know, but it didn't mater. What mattered really was how handsome Sam looked today, what with his freshly cleaned uniform as white as the powdery snow. Sam was so handsome, the only problem was that he was gay. Not that there was a problem with being gay, but Miiko just wished he were straight.

"Okay you three, keep it in your pants and come help us out!" Tanka barked, gesturing to the large delivery that needed to be sorted. Miiko shook her head and bound over. "Rose and I will take the not heavy stuff, because we're delicate ladies!" Tanka rolled his eyes, but gave Miiko a small pile of weapons to sort through. These types were naturally heavy, so it was only fair to respond to this request. "Alright Rose, we're going to sort them by size, I'm not sure what Tanka's plan is, but like sized stuff will go together." How were they going to distribute it? Maybe the smaller weapons were useful for different forms of attack? Despite the fact that Miiko was in a rebellion she had never learned this vital information.

When Prisca thought about what the Goddess told her to do upon being turned into a Spirit and having her soul anchored to the rose instead of being allowed to move on to be with her sister, she expected to have heroic battles and lots of other such things. Instead she was lugging around heavy packages full of fighting arms for everyone that would need them - because they were going to need a lot of firepower to deal with L. "It's h-heavy... and c-cold." Prisca was strong, yes, but she wasn't like some huge bodybuilder. Heavy muscles weren't necessary with an ability like hers, all you need is to know how to dodge and aim for weak spots while predicting everything your opponent does. And then upon arriving at Tanka's she was met by a very strange person that gave off the exact same impression as Pablo did.

"I-I .... U-m.... I.... " The girl was stuttering more than ever before, she had no idea how to handle when people praised her like this so much, even if it was just her name. This boy was tall, his hair was black and silky and everything about him seemed to ooze with prettiness, it didn't even make sense. And here he was calling her cute. Miiko was all touchy feely with him and he seemed fine with it. It was - Rose had no idea what to do. It was always Essie that had attention like this! Her cheeks went bright red and then she just stared at the floor, trying her best to pretend she was somewhere else. How did Essie deal with it? Like a shining star that was more than used to the attention and could smile charmingly at any situation!

Well, she wasn't Essie, sadly. "I-... um, i-i-ts good to... it was nice to... meet you." She stammered in broken words and then gladly went to go distract herself with the current task, to separate out the guns. Miiko didn't seem to know why they were supposed to do it, but luckily, Prisca had more of an idea. "When I fought in the th-third world war, I learned a little bit." Though it was never because she wanted to know. All she wanted was for Callum to leave Essie alone, she couldn't have - okay, now wasn't the time to dwell on that!

"Light guns are good for high mobility squads you use to flank behind enemy lines." Rose explained as she sorted through the weapons dutifully. "You can't swap in a heavy gun user in a flanking squad because they'll fall behind, that would be silly." She then went to the big heavies, the rocket launchers and grenade launchers, grouped together. "These heavy armaments are for fighting armored targets like trucks and tanks." They usually go behind friendly lines and act as supporting anti-vehicle fire. "These ones are sniper rifles, used for sniper squads, you put them on roofs and-" And so she explained on and on, almost having fun even if it might just end up confusing Miiko more and more.

By the time they were done sorting, Miiko was dizzy and slightly confused from all of the explaining Rose had done about each and every gun. She had never known that things like this were so detailed, had never known that there was such a large need for weapons in the community but then again, if Capitol City was going to attack, it only made sense that they would need all of these-these whatever they were called. No guns of course, they didn't have any access to things like guns, but there were plenty of swords, machetes, and other large, pointy weapons. Miiko was mostly handling daggers, switchblades, and pocket knives while the others sorted the larger variety of the very sharp tools used for different forms of stabbing. Miiko herself didn't have a weapon, she decided that it was about time that she had one.

A starting weapon of course, so nothing too flashy. Miiko picked out one of the pocket knives and placed it in her pocket for later. "Alright, now that we have that taken care of, what's next on the agenda?" Miiko looked up at Rose, wondering if her partner in crime would know. Tanka overheard them and saw that they were finished, with one approving nod he opened up the garage. "Alright, time to hand these babies out!" He announced, a lopsided grin riding his mouth. "Tanka did always like knives," Miiko muttered, turning to face the cold air that was pushing into the room. Miiko's eyes widened at the line that was out the door and around the corner. "Alright girls, I hope you're ready for some work. We're going to yell something back, you'll grab it and bring it to us. Try not to hurt yourselves and don't rush! If you don't know what something is, feel free to ask me or Sam to grab it."[/color]

"Ready Rose?" Miiko inquired, putting her jacket back on now that the wind was whistling through the garage, whipping through their tools and pushing over boxes. "Glaive!" Tanka yelled and Miiko looked around. "There's no one here named Glaive!" Miiko called back, wondering who Tanka was referring to. "No Miiko, bring me a glaive!" Oh! Now Miiko understood, she looked up at Rose for help. "What one is the glaive again?" Miiko had no idea, she wasn't some sort of weapon's expert! "Hey, where did Sam go?" Miiko wanted him to see her helping and praise her. Hmph! It looked as though she was going to have to wait for some other time.

"Sword!" Miiko jumped up, "Ooh, I know what that looks like!" Miiko ran towards the pile of swords and carefully lifted one up. She took it with her, slowly walking towards Tanka to hand him the sword. "Good job Miiko," he ruffled her hair. "Hey! I'm not a dog! Besides, I just fixed these pig tails!" Miiko pouted as Tanka yelled out the next instruction. "Scythe!" Scythe? That was another one Miiko didn't know, "Rose, which one is the scythe!" Miiko called to her partner, skipping back towards the pile. Was it the really big one with the circle on top? Rose had just given her a speech about this too, it was too bad that Miiko hadn't been listening, that really would have come in handy.

Honestly, Prisca had no idea why she was given a rapier as her weapon. It wasn't like she had been a fencer back when she was alive or anything. No, the only weapon she was given was a plasma gun attached to her arm in a similar manner to a certain other girl who grafted an electromagnetic railgun to her own arm. As a Spirit, that modification didn't carry over, unfortunately. It would have been useful. "S-sorry if I confused you, I bet most of the guns I mentioned don't exist anymore." Except for light small guns like pistols, probably nothing else existed. This world seemed to focus mostly on various melee weapons. She decided to watch as Miiko decided on her weapon, ending up with a pocket knife, simple to use, but she would have to fight at close range because of how short the blade was. But with Miiko's speed, as long as she was careful she should be fine.

It was time for them to be delivery girls, to give weapons as ordered. "U-understood." Rose called to Tanka, she was ready for the challenge. First was a glaive and Prisca identified it without too much trouble. "It's this one, with the long wide blade on the stick." As for Sam, the spirit had absolutely no idea. She didn't want to think about Sam right now, he was way too good at making people blush, it just wasn't even fair. "H-he's probably doing h-his own job right now?" Maybe? Possibly. Miiko handled the sword and Rose picked up a scythe and brought it over as requested. "H-here." The shy ghost stuttered, avoiding the hand trying to pat her head. After a few more hours they were allowed to go on break.

And just as if on cue, two girls arrived, both of them looking cold, tired, but ready to fight. Or, well, Daisy looked ready to fight, Jellyfish was just staring at the space in front of her for no apparent reason. The singer was grinning eagerly and it was time. "First team to draw blood wins!" Daisy reached for her chest and then a light glowed, appearing in her hands was a microphone and a stand, except at the bottom of the stand was a long serrated blade, a sort of unique kind of spear. Jellyfish didn't have a weapon, but already she was... blowing bubbles out of her fingers? Prisca blinked and focused on Jellyfish and then she pushed Miiko back right before the explosion hit them. "Be careful." She said in battle mode. "One hit from that and we're out."

Jellyfish just looked like such an airhead, even now she was just peacefully blowing bubbles as if she wasn't even aware there was a fight happening. All the while Daisy was singing and Prisca could feel a nudging in her head, someone telling her to lay down and sleep and not worry about fighting. Who was the bigger threat here? Rose was a duelist, she was amazing in one on one situations - not so much when there were two targets to worry about. Her rapier materialized, glowing bright, and then she blinked to telegraph Daisy's moves and thrust forward at an angle she wasn't - but then Rose backed off right before the bubble could touch her and it floated there between her and Daisy, a silent threat.

At long last their challengers had returned. The weapons were all but distributed if you didn't count Miiko's shiny new pocket knife. She giggled in anticipation and took the knife out. "Alright, let's get this started!" Miiko smiled, this was going to be her first ever fight and needless to say, Miiko was excited. Of course she didn't expect to win, but she sort of expected Daisy and Jellyfish to let her win because, well, Miiko was the Princess of the Rebellion! So if course Miiko was going to win, even if she didn't technically win. Plus, she had Rose to protect her! Rose had plenty of experience in fighting, therefore, Miiko was not worried. Daisy pulled out her weapon, a very impressive looking pointy stick with a microphone at the end. Miiko closed her eyes for but a moment, feeling the world around her. This was something Stella had taught her, to taste the air, to sense the electrical impulses and the strings of life.

It was the details that you pulled from these strings which could guide you through most any fight. When Miiko opened her eyes she could see the strings all around her. The threads of life pushed and pulled, connected to the humans that danced between them. Bubbles wafted towards them and in one quick motion Rose moved to shield the two girls from the effect of it. The strings danced when the bubbles popped in small explosions. "Hmm, I'm going to need something longer," Miiko looked down at the small knife gripped in her pink gloves and realized that no, this weapon would not do her much good. "Rose, can you distract them for a minute? I need a better sword," Miiko spoke calmly, feeling dizzy with adrenaline. "We're going to have to win this fight if we want to prove we deserve standing among the rest of the rebels."

Miiko expected that this fight would leave something to be desired, but she too, had no doubts surrounding the what would take place next. It was just as they said, you could feel it almost as soon as the fight began. Miiko's thoughts swirled inside of her mind the same way one would swirl wine in a glass to bring out the scent in their brew. In a flash her pocket knife disappeared, replacing itself with two slightly longer blades. "I did it!" Miiko shouted with glee, the threads disappearing. She rushed forward to stand beside Rose, showing her what she had procured. "Look! I found out what my ability is! I can summon these materials!" Was it just for fighting? Perhaps Miiko could invite other objects to her side? "Rose, are you ready to win?" Miiko asked, steeling herself.

"I'll allow you to boss me around just this once, but after that, it's back to our normal dynamic. So, that being said, how do we win this?" If Miiko could summon objects, did that mean she could send them away? If so, then Miiko could send away the fresh wave of bubbles coming their way. With one slash of her sword, the bubbles disappeared. Miiko's chest welled up with pride, her ability was similar to the one that Stella possessed, only, Stella could move herself and other people. She could "jump," per say, from one place to another. "I hope you losers haven't peed your pants yet, because the real battle is just getting started!" Miiko slashed her little blade through the air, appearing ever so confident.

The battle had begun and almost instantly the enemies made their skills known. Daisy could slowly plant ideas in your head through singing until eventually you had no choice but to obey what she said. A siren of song, one could call her, she was having way too much fun with her spirit weapon. Meanwhile Jellyfish was creating bubbles that seemed to work like bombs. It was time to play distraction, then, according to Miiko's plan, whatever it was. "Understood." The bubbles were floating closer, so Prisca closed her eyes to predict when they would explode. And with that she suddenly jumped forward, cutting through a few of them, forcing Jellyfish to switch up her tactics. "The longer this fight goes, the harder it'll be to resist the song." Rose warned, glowering at Daisy who winked flirtatiously at her as she gyrated her body to the song.

And so it began, a full on physical clash of melee weapons. Daisy was quick with her mic stand, ensuring that no matter what Prisca did, she couldn't get a clear shot at Jellyfish at all. "No way I'm letting you get to my Caster!" Daisy sang as she thrust and blocked Prisca's swings. Rose didn't have the luxury to try and predict Daisy's movements though, she was busy using her prediction to make sure Jellyfish didn't send bubbles towards Miiko, and to dodge the bubbles headed towards her. "Your singing is grating my ears." Rose taunted and then Miiko let out a triumphant sound, showing off her new weapons and her strange power to summon objects to her. It was time to try and go for the win, while Daisy was stuck on the defensive.

Rose nodded. It only made sense, she was the one with more combat experience, after all. "Try to cut Jellyfish, but beware her bubbles." Prisca commanded, knowing that that was their only way to victory. She had to keep Daisy at bay, to stop her from being able to concentrate on her singing. If Miiko knew how to send the bubbles away before they exploded, the airheaded bluenette would be a sitting duck once Miiko was close enough to strike. "First blood wins the match, remember." Daisy hissed, she was getting more aggressive with her mic stand, trying to land a hit but Prisca was playing aggressively as well, not giving Daisy a chance to get the footing she needed to push the attack.

Jellyfish was sending bubbles exclusively at Miiko now, but she was doing it strangely. She sent the first save, but then a second wave came - and some second wave bubbles hit the firs wave to make them go faster. And then the third wave did the same to the second, until it was a seemingly never-ending stream of randomly exploding bubbles, all moving to encircle Miiko in every direction. Still, Miiko was going to have to go fast, Prisca could feel the effect of the song, it was taking far too much effort to not just curl up and sleep. She wondered if Miiko could feel the song's effect as well.

Miiko heard the singing, she had heard it since the beginning, but Miiko was so used to Daisy's song that it was not as strong on her as it was on Rose. Sure, Daisy's song had a will bending effect that made Miiko slightly sleepy, but once Rose grew used to it she too would be able to resist easier. That was the one fault in Daisy's power, it was strong when used against foreign enemies, but ones who had heard her song for too long would already be immune. "Sorry Daisy, but that's not gonna work for me!" Miiko said with glee, thinking that she could actually have a chance. "Alright Rose, you take care of Daisy then! I'll focus on Jellyfish and hopefully this win should be in our bag!" Miiko slashed one of her sword, cutting through a bubble in order to make it disappear. Poof! Like magic the bubble was gone without the normal explosion.

"I remember! That's what I'm going to try to do!" Miiko dodged, jumped, and whirled. She was awfully tired already, but knew that she needed to stay alert if she wanted to win this fight. It wasn't likely, Miiko had zero fighting experience compared to Jellyfish and Daisy, who were battle ready and knew how to handle the enemy with ease. Miiko and Rose were going to need to practice teamwork if they wanted to work together more efficiently. "Daddy isn't going to be happy if you hurt me!" Miiko warned in a tone that indicated just how spoiled and oblivious Miiko truly was. In a battle, it didn't matter whose Dad was going to get mad. It was true, however, that Miiko's Daddy would be furious if Miiko was hurt in a play battle of all things. He had tasked Rose with protecting her, not letting Miiko get into fights; even if it was for the sake of finding out what her light bearing ability could be.

Jellyfish was a hard opponent, but Miiko had done well. She sliced, diced, and pushed away all of the bubbles she could but it only took one to slip through her defenses in order for the others to all pop. In a wave of explosions, the bubbles all set off, drowning Miiko in loud sounds and sights. She fell to the floor, the long knives clattering against the concrete. Miiko screamed, her ears bleeding, both ear drums having popped. The first blood had been drawn and it seemed that Miiko and Rose were the losers. Due to Miiko's screaming, Tanka came running. "Hey! Cut it out!" He yelled at Jellyfish and Daisy, who were still persisting. He made his way through the bubbles, fishing Miiko out from within. As if by miracle, Sam had appeared out of nowhere, gasping at the terrible sight before him. "Oh my," he walked forward, touching the blood that danced out from Miiko's ears.

"Rose, take Miiko to Jace." Tanka ordered. Miiko opened her eyes, stars dancing before her pupils. "N-no," Miiko stuttered. "D-Daddy doesn't n-need to kn-know, I-I-I'm f-f-fine." Miiko insisted, the lapel of her coat stained in crimson.

Miiko fought valiantly for her first try but in the end she lost, the volley of bubbles was simply too much for her and she let out a scream and her ears were leaking blood. Daisy stopped the singing and blocked one last thrust from Prisca and the two set their weapons aside, Jellyfish looked half asleep, too dazed to realize that the battle was already over. "Fish, we won already, you did great." Daisy called, grabbing her Caster and snapping her out of the reverie. The bluenette's mouth opened in an O shape but then she nodded and her eyes fluttered shut. "Um, I'm sorry, princess, I just thought this was a chance to get to know you two better." Prisca didn't really want to get to know them though, she knew the kind of person Daisy was, they had been enemies during the war.

Rose, luckily, knew what to do with it, she had already found little cotton swabs to try to dab up some of the blood. "S-s-sorry, I'm sorry, I sh-should have pr-protected..." The ghost was already fizzling her, her battle mode over. She was always fighting solo, almost always against a single opponent, and as such, something like fighting two enemies at once was hard enough - but having to protect someone made it even more difficult. She was strong on her own, but she needed to learn more about teamwork if she really wanted to be able to protect Miiko like she was tasked to do. Tanka and Sam were here too, as Prisca held Miiko gingerly, tenderly. "I-it was my fault, I couldn't protect her. None of this was Miiko's fault at all, the ghost wouldn't let anyone blame her Caster!

She was ordered to take Miiko to Jace, but Spirits were bound by the words of their Casters, and no one else. "I-I'm sorry, I can't, she told me not to." Rose was suddenly very interested in her fingernails, and she procured more cotton swabs to help with the blood, and to help clean the ears. "B-but I c-can't stop you unless Miiko tells me to, if you take her to where Jace is." But that meant another two hours by ferry, didn't it? Wasn't it best to just treat the wound here and hope for the best? "Jaspar's got plenty of meds for trade." Daisy said, she really did look apologetic. Funny, how someone who manipulated thousands to fight and die at war, could feel regret.

Then again, Prisca's hands were very stained with blood as well, as was Callum's. Maybe all Spirits were the same.

"F-for now... Miiko, you did good, for your first try, b-better than most." She was speaking sincerely of course, many on their first fight were just utter failures. Miiko, she had good instincts, even if she was a spoiled princess. "W-we should pr-practice more against ea-each other to learn how the other f-fights." She blushed heavily for whatever reason, like a mouse freezing in front of a cat. "O-only if you want to..." They were also going to need a change of clothes as well, weren't they?

"I-I'll b-b-be f-f-fi-fine," Miiko stuttered, opening her eyes partway. The light illuminated Sam's lush black hair, making him seem angelic. Sam handed Miiko to Rose, who was clueless as to what steps they should take aside from dabbing the blood with cotton balls swiftly stained crimson. "Y-you d-did you-your b-be-best Ro-Ros-Rose," Miiko smiled, giving Rose a weak thumbs up. "Rose is right, Jace is two hours away," Sam pointed out patiently. "Let's at least stop the bleeding, then we can send the four of them back to Yavin."

"F-f-o-four?" Miiko questioned to which Sam nodded. "Of course, we'll be sending the instigators back to. Since they started it, they'll have to escort you home." Miiko was happy that at least in some respect, she and Rose still had won since the other two would be punished as the instigators. In that respect, Miiko was satisfied with the results of their battle. "Rose, come with me, Sam, have Daisy and Jellyfish clean up this mess." There were char marks on the ground, mixed with blood and what was probably oil from an unrelated job previous to the fight. Sam shut the garage door in order to block out the cold and retrieved cleaning supplies. "Alright you two, scrub," Sam ordered while Tanka led Rose to a room on the second floor of the shop. Here there was a break room with a nice plush brown sofa whose cover would hide any bloodstains. Just in case, of course, Tanka put down a few towels. "Alright, lay Miiko down there."

Miiko remained lying on the couch while Tanka cleaned out her ears. There was a distinct buzzing, blocking out all other sound. It was evident that Miiko's hearing was full of a strange buzzing like bees inside of her head. "What's that!" Miiko yelled to Rose, unable to hear her aside from a faint squeaking that she was certain was coming out of Rose's mouth. "There, all good for now." Tanka stood, satisfied with his job. Wrapped around Miiko's head was a large bandage with plenty of cotton blocking her ears in order to stop the bleeding. "Thanks Oldman!" Miiko held up a thumb's up at her partner and the bald man with the shiny head. "Who are you calling old?!" Tanka stood and disposed of all of the evidence that he had treated someone in here for their injury. "Miiko, do you give permission for Rose to take you now?" Miiko thought about it in great detail.

"Yes! I-I give m-my permission!" Miiko nodded and winced, bad idea, very bad idea to nod like that. She was just going to settle down on a bench on the ferry and then when she saw her Papa, Miiko could make a huge fuss.

On the Ferry, things were a little different. It was quieter on the way back, it was an odd time, so there weren't as many people on the trip back to Yavin. All four of them who were fighting were to return to Yavin, while Gavin and Callum finished dealing with getting Jaspar ready for the big fight. Daisy and Prisca were chatting in whispers, because they wanted to try and connect over the old world and the new one. Jellyfish was showing her drawings to Miiko, she had a picture book full of pictures around Yavin, of it's people, including some of Miiko, and she was offering Miiko to draw with her. All without speaking, of course. "Your real name isn't Rose, is it?" Daisy asked in a doubtful voice, quietly of course. "It's just a name Miiko chose for you."

Prisca grimaced, but she knew there was no getting around it. Since they were all going to be on a team, and since Daisy was from the past, it was only a matter of time anyways. "You won't tell Miiko?" The mousy spirit whispered in a sad, dejected tone. Her past was haunting her even now, it was like being stabbed in the heart just thinking about it. Daisy smiled gently and nodded. "Yeah. If Callum hates you, I bet I'd probably like you." Well.. .one thing was true, and it was that Callum hated her. And with good reason too. "I'm the first American artificial light bearer." The mourning spirit explained, keeping her head down, she didn't care look Daisy in the eye. "I'm the one that fought Nemesis... I-I'm the one that got all my friends and family killed for something stupid." It hurt more to hear herself say it than anything. Wasn't talking supposed to be therapeutic?

"And now you're here." Daisy said in a low whisper, her eyes were wide but she nodded with grim acceptance. "You're here and this is your chance to atone, isn't it?" Prisca's mouth curved downwards. If everyone was here to atone, then that meant one thing. "Then so are you. You regret what you did, don't you?" Daisy's cheeks went a little red and she made an unreadable expression. "Too many people died because of my songs." She said in a very, very soft voice. "And it was all for money, I didn't have a big reason, I just did as I was told." Daisy made a bitter laugh, and Prisca didn't know what else to say.

The ferry was almost at Yavin now, and Rose made her way back to Miiko, patting her on the head. "You did good today." She said fondly, finding herself feeling attached to the spoiled princess. "L-let's go get in trouble with your dad."

Miiko's hearing was going in and out as blood stained the cotton that had been shoved into her ears and wrapped around her head. She didn't seem to mind much, however, and did not appear to be in pain either. In fact, Miiko seemed to be glowing. At long last, she was useful, she had an ability that could help the rebellion further its agenda. Perhaps in due time, Miiko could even be the one to rescue and reunite their family? She could see it now, Miiko being praised, Stella hugging her, saying that Miiko was just as good a light bearer as she was. Would this power one day disappear? Miiko hoped not, she didn't want to be in the middle of a fight and all of a sudden was unable to summon any of her weapons. She wanted to test the limits of her light bearing gift as well, to see how big of an item it could be and weather or not it could be people too, or just small tools.

Jellyfish nudged Miiko, who looked up to stare at the mute. "Do you want something?" Miiko asked with a humph, a bit of a sore loser indeed. Jellyfish sat down on the floor beside Miiko, taking part of the pinkette's blanket to wrap around herself. "Mine," Miiko tugged while Jellyfish got comfy and took out a pad of paper, not the erasable kind either. Where was this from? Miiko ogled at the sketches within, she had no idea that Jellyfish was so observant. "These are actually really good!" Miiko praised, unable to hear the fact that she was yelling. "Wow, is this one me? Can I keep it?" Jellyfish shook her head and took the paper back, opening up a different one to reveal colored in patterns. Jellyfish then spread a package of coloring utensils on the ground, offering them up.

Miiko's eyes widened, "Really? Can I?" Jellyfish nodded and together the two girls began coloring in the lines. Jellyfish handed Miiko another green to use, which Miiko took up, the two of them finishing a picture together in the two hour span it took to reach Yavin's shores. The bitter cold bit at their skin, Miiko's eyes were puffy and red from the wind that had stung her orbs and whipped through her hair as though it were a banshee scream. The ocean was a muted blue, almost gray. The sky above matched its color, adorned with small white flakes that drifted peacefully to the ground. Rose returned to Miiko's side and pat her head, saying that Miiko had done well today. Miiko jumped to her feet and beamed, "I knew we would!" She said in a tone that was far too chipper to match her injuries.

Jace was waiting for them, worriedly pacing the dock. "Miiko!" They had sent ahead a carrier bird, which arrived much faster than the ferry. He lifted Miiko off of her feet, looking worried. "I heard about what happened," Jace whirled around and pointed at Daisy and Jellyfish. "Why the hell would you two risk instigating a fight in broad daylight! And in public no less! Do you know what could have happened?! What if a Capitol Soldier had come? Then all four of you would be in their hands and we'd be down four light bearers!" Miiko looked up at her Father with wide sad eyes. "But Daddy, I just wanted to find out what my power was. It was my idea, I wanted to be helpful to the rebellion." Jace placed Miiko back down on her feet and ruffled her hair, "that's not the point. You should have known better, I'm disappointed in you Daisy and Jellyfish."

❝Roses dyed in blood

And well, they were back in Yavin now, more or less their home town, the central base for the Resistance. Prisca felt a little bit more at ease, because here they were behind friendly lines, there wouldn't be such a need to fight or anything. She wasn't exactly happy that Daisy now knew her secret, but there was no way she was going to be able to keep it hidden forever. Hopefully the singer would keep it to herself, she wanted to keep living as the mysterious Rose, rather than the one that killed everyone she ever cared about. Callum unfortunately knew her as well but so far it didn't seem as if he was spreading it to everyone. Well, regardless, it was time to face the music, an angry father and rebellion leader dealing with the foolishness of four light bearers.

Well, everything Jace said, none of it was wrong, really. "To be fair, we fought in Tanka's house, away from people's view, so they wouldn't have seen us." Daisy said with a cheeky sort of smile, one that only served to make Jace angrier. "Your power, it's singing, don't you think enemies could have heard your song through the walls?" Daisy flinched and Jellyfish patted her arm mutely in a silent show of comfort. Miiko tried to take away some of her father's edge but while he did ruffle his hair, his severe expression didn't waver. "W-w-we're sorry." Prisca had fallen to pieces despite how brave she tried to sound earlier, she really wasn't suited for things like this. Essie would have been able to laugh it off while also apologizing seriously, but Prisca didn't have the same kind of aura that let her do that.

No, her best skill was shaking and cowering behind the anxiety that rested in her heart, making her doubt everything she did, every word she thought. "Oh, let's go to the hot spring!" Daisy suddenly exclaimed to Jellyfish, the bluenette paused for a moment but then she nodded her head in agreement. It was their favorite past time, to just float time away relaxing in the natural hot springs on Ondern, to the south. Prisca was a little dubious, however. "I didn't think there were hotsprings." She murmured and Daisy gave her an almost pitying stare. "Well, you're free to tag along if you really want to."

Well, that was one option at least. However there was another possibility for them, one that might end up being more useful and productive. "W-we could try and test y-your power, Miiko." Prisca said as a casual suggestion. "T-to see the r-range of your summon, what you can summon, th-the more we understand it, the better off we are." It was a light bearer's duty to understand their gift's strengths and limitations, anything less was to be irresponsible and careless. A kind, almost pixie-like smile rose on her face however. "We could go to the spring in Ondern if you'd rather that...?"

"Oh no! None of you are going to the hot springs today!" Jace crossed his arms, looking at the four of them sternly. "Daisy, Jellyfish, you two are going to escort Nino to the Dragon Inlet to collect precious metals." The Dragon Inlet was named as such not because there was a dragon there, not that anything like dragons existed, but because of the Legend of Smaug and his greed for items that glittered. Should you go to the Dragon Inlet you would find a cave full of glittering jewels that washed up on shore day to day. Not that they were of any use unless you wanted to make jewelry. Apparently, however, Nino had found something to use them for, other than hanging on walls and making into pretty accessories. Nino figured out that diamonds were near impossible to shatter and if you could sharpen them to a fine point, they made fantastic weapons.

Naturally that was her intention on the exploratory trip today. While Nino claimed she could do everything on her own, getting to Dragon Inlet on a day like today would be near impossible for someone in a wheelchair. "She's waiting for you near Coco's Dock, go to her now." Miiko and Rose on the other hand, had to do something else. "You two," he turned to face them. "Before you do anything, Miiko needs to get her wounds looked at. Then, I need you to organize some important documents for the rebellion." Miiko groaned, back to organizing duty? "But Daddy, I can do more important things! I need to find out the extent of my abilities!" Didn't he understand why this was so important? Didn't her Father want Miiko beside him on the battle field because Athena could no longer be there? "I want to know what I can do!" Jace sighed, shaking his head.

"Miiko, I understand that you're frustrated, but I need you to trust me." He turned to Rose, "and you," there was so much that Jace could say to Rose in this moment, disappointment, expecting better, but Jace held out a hand to give her a high five. "Next time the other two start a fight, kick their asses." He ruffled Miiko's hair one last time and sat off to attend to his own duties. "What did he say!" Miiko yelled, her hearing having gone out in that moment. "I have a better idea, let's see what I can do and then we can go to the hot springs!" They could find the time for paperwork some other day, there were other, bigger tasks at hand that Miiko so wanted to deal with. "Come on, maybe Mommy will have lunch ready?" Up the tree they went, to the quiet house perched between two branches that overlooked the ocean.

"Mommy! I'm home! I brought Rose with me!" Miiko looked up at Rose, beaming, "I think I like you," not in a romantic way of course, but in an 'I'll let you stick around,' way. The advantages to being the boss in their relationship were plenty. Miiko got to make all of the decisions, she got to carry around a cool plastic rose, and if she didn't want to hang out with Rose anymore, all Miiko had to do was put the Rose in her backpack instead of hanging onto it. Miiko had strung the Rose to a necklace that she was wearing around her neck. "Welcome back girls," Athena was stirring something in a large pot. She poured some into two bowls and placed it on the table. "I made spaghetti squash soup, I know how much you like it Miiko." Athena turned towards Rose then. "I don't believe we've formally met, I'm Athena, Miiko's Mom."

Right as the four girls were in the middle of plotting out a day of leisure Jace had to come along and ruin their hopes for something nice and relaxing to get them out of the frigid cold that was Yavin in the winter time. Especially without built in heating in the houses, it really was incredibly cold despite the extra layer of clothing Prisca had on. "But it's so cold!" Daisy whined as they were given a mission to help with the wheelchair-bound Nino who was perhaps all the more a mad genius because of the lack of ability to walk on her own. "Please, we're dying, boss!" But Jace wasn't going to waver, not one bit and the two girls were forced out. Prisca - it was hard to know what to feel about the two girls. They seemed friendly enough, not even rubbing it in anyone's face that they won, and Miiko and Jellyfish had played nicely during the ride back to Yavin.

It was important for Miiko to be able to find out what she could do with her ability, Rose almost thought that it wasn't fair that Jace was going to give them a different job to do in the meantime - and while they were given the ability to speak and read the new language, Spirits most definitely weren't able to write the new alphabet, so it was going to be even more difficult! Rose flinched, her eyes were brimming with tears when Jace put his attention on her. Here was the scolding, for being a bad spirit that couldn't protect her Caster at all, here was her punishment for being so bad. A high five? "U-uh?" The girl was so stunned that her hand automatically went up to do a high five before she could realize what was happening.

"H-he s-said to beat Daisy and Jellyfish next time."

And now Rose found herself in front of Athena who despite being sickly and frail still seemed to give off a sort of sense of power to her. Maybe it wasn't actual strength, but Athena certainly had will, even if she was being irresponsible with her health. If she didn't take care of it, she would die. "H-hello, I am Rose." She did a little nervous bow, her heart thumping hard in her chest. She turned to Miiko, trying to make sense of what was just said, her mind was reeling. "I-I'll protect you." Is what she decided to say, just to be on the safe side.

It was time to get to work, and Miiko wanted to spend the time figuring out her power. Rose then understood why they were given paperwork as a task - because it was something one person could do while the other could do something else at the same time. "Okay, and I'll fill out the documents..." Or she'll try to at least. Miiko needed to learn her gift, Rose needed to learn the language. "F-first let's try to see how big and how small the s-summoned objects are." Rose suggested as a first step.

Miiko grinned, "We will beat Jellyfish next time, won't we?" She giggled. Now that Athena and Rose were properly introduced Athena served the two some soup to warm up. There was a fire crackling in the hearth, which warmed up the room nicely. Miiko peeled off her jacket and sat down to eat her soup, getting ready to dig in next to Rose when her Mother came over to inspect the bandages wrapped around Miiko's head. "Oh Mimi," she murmured, "what happened?" Miiko glanced at Rose in exasperation, as though she didn't want to go through this again. "I got into a fight with Jellyfish and Daisy," Miiko replied, allowing Athena to unravel the bandages from around her head and unplug the cotton from her ears. "This looks bad," her Mother's voice was fuzzy. "Hang on," Athena left the other room and returned with a first aid kit.

Not only did Athena clean the wounds and stop the bleeding by the time the girls were done with their soup, but she also fixed Miiko's pigtails and braided Prisca's short hair. "How are you feeling today Mommy?" Miiko asked, wiping up the soup that had dribbled down her chin before it could spill into her lap. "I'm feeling better today," there were dark circles underneath Athena's eyes, a sign of the lack of sleep she had been getting. "I'm going to lay down and read for a little, take good care of Miiko for me, won't you Rose?" Before an answer could so much as be fetched from either girl's minds, Athena walked down the quaint little hallway towards her bedroom, floorboards creaking with every step. Miiko sat up straighter, it was time to get to work.

"How are you gonna fill out the paperwork?" Miiko questioned, "Do you know how to write our language?" Miiko wasn't trying to be rude, she just wasn't sure how she and Rose were speaking the same dialect when Rose was probably a bajillion years older than Miiko. Perhaps old ladies were better at filling out paperwork? Miiko wanted to believe such a thing was possible, because if that were the case, she could delegate all the important paperwork to Rose while Miiko went out and did important things for example scouting treasure troves or going to the Dragon Inlet and collecting shiny rocks to place on Stella's grave. Perhaps one day, Miiko would take Rose down there to visit her sister, although Miiko didn't think that Stella was dead so maybe not.

"How small? What's really small that I could summon?" Miiko thought of a rock, no, a pebble! She focused on a pebble, a really pretty one from the beach. She pushed all of her focus onto this one pebble and then opened up her hand. "Look! Look! It's so small! What's next? Medium, right?" Miiko grinned, "I can do medium!" She had summoned something medium before, those large daggers that had a thin, toothpick like addition on either side of the foil. Miiko shut her wide blue orbs once more and this time the bitter rabbit stuffed toy was what came to her. "Isn't this cool!" Miiko squealed, spinning around with the toy. "I bet you're jealous!"

Home life was a strange thing for her especially when it came to parents. It was just, for so long she thought she had a relatively normal household, a father and a mother who loved each other so very much. If you were careful, you could hear them chattering away through the walls like lovebirds. But then one day everything changed and the only thing you heard from them late at night was a deafening silence, a father who always came home late, and a mother who was always suppressing her tears and pretending nothing was wrong. Even Essie didn't know what to do to fix it, and eventually it turned out that there was nothing they could have done to change it. So watching a good mother-daughter relationship with Miiko and Athena, it made her feel... the emotion, she didn't know how to describe it. Wistful perhaps was the closest word she had.

"I-I will." Rose said with a solemn frown but by the time she had made her vow of protection Athena already excused herself to get some well-needed rest, if the bags under her eyes were of any indication. And now Prisca had seated herself with the paperwork, and Miiko was doing whatever it was she was going to do, a very important question was posed. "I can r-read... and this i-is a good chance to learn to write." It was a little strange, but if she practiced reading and figured out which sounds went with which symbols, she could learn how to write. Of course there was the problem of her mind automatically translating the new language into English... but maybe she would be okay. "If I read e-enough to get a good idea of things I'll be fine. I-if you want, you can check after I'm d-done to make sure?"

With that settled, it was now time for the real exciting part! Figuring out all the ins and outs of Miiko's light bearing gift! They were going to start small, naturally, since that would be easier to handle. Suddenly Miiko managed to conjure up a pebble, it even looked like it had a few grains of sand on it! "Good work." Rose praised her Caster with an affectionate sort of nod. "Yes, now let's medium." And so Miiko concentrated and a rabbit toy with an eye patch appeared, one that looked oddly familiar. Miiko was already posturing with it, showing off what she could do.

But something felt a tiny bit off about this. "Wait, c-can I see it?" So Rose took a look and then she found it, a name written on the tag. "I-it has a name... Nomie?" Wait, that was definitely wrong. "Naomi." Yes, that was the name on the tag. Suddenly Prisca put two and two together. "s-so you can take an object fr-from far away and make it yours..." Okay, how about this one? "C-can you try sending things away?"

As it turns out, Miiko could send away the belongings she had summoned. As much as Miiko wanted another bitter rabbit, she reluctantly sent the second one back, allowing the original owner to have their toy back. Miiko went at this for hours while Rose filled out the paperwork, until Nino returned with Daisy and Jellyfish. "Girls!" Jace came in a few minutes later, "suit up for battle!" Miiko sat upright in attention, her stomach bubbling eagerly. "Battle?" Miiko ran towards her Father, stumbling over her own feet. "Do Rose and I get to go too?" She inquired in an overly eager manner, Jace hesitated. Miiko was ready to fight, she was born ready and her ears were no longer bleeding, therefore he had no excuse to deny Miiko's request. "No," came a voice from behind them, everyone turned to watch Nino wheel in through the door from down the hall. "Not without this, you're not."

Nino handed over a long, but slim box, plain and unadorned. Miiko placed the box onto the wooden table and clambered up to stand on one of the handmade chairs. She opened up the box slowly, revealing her new weapon. It was long and pink, with a heart on the end. "What does it do?" Miiko asked, rather clueless. "I'm glad you asked," Nino pulled up the heart, revealing a blade underneath. "Whoa, so cool, look Rose! Look Daddy! Look how cool I am!" She posed, placing one hand on her hip and the other raised the sword up in the air. "Alright, now you're ready," Jace agreed, picking Miiko up and placing her back down on the ground. "Rose, I'm trusting that you really will protect Miiko," there was a certain edge to his voice, as though to say 'I'm serious this time.'

They did not board the ferry, but a smaller, faster boat with blue stripes painted on the side. It had no name, but several seats and a small dry storage. "Everybody in!" Jace announced, they were using his private boat, the one that he and Nino had built so that Jace could get to the islands in half the time of a regular ferry. Nino was not going of course, she better served her purpose on Yavin with Athena. While Nino wasn't a Doctor, she did have a security system in placed to monitor Athena's health and alert her shoulder the woman collapse or injure herself in some way. Athena insisted that it was ridiculous, but it had saved her from embarrassment on three separate occasions.

Her feet touched the sand, cold and gritty, boots sinking an inch into the pale powder mixed with crisp bits of ice. The boat rocked gently in the water, a stark scene of calm compared to the smoking city in front of them. "Come on Rose, we need to go help them!" Miiko called, prepared to set off on her own in a vain attempt to save the city. "Miiko, wait!" Jace yelled, jumping onto the sand. "We all go together," he gestured to Jellyfish and Daisy to remain on their guard while they crossed the beach and clambered the rocks onto the pavement of the abandoned market place. The smoke stung her eyes and burned her lungs, Miiko drew her scarf across her face in order to filter out the scent. "We'll start in the market place, stay on guard, but only attack if they try first! Our priority are the citizens and the Mayor!" Miiko nodded, taking all of this information in.

The Imperial Republic Army of Artaran was already in Jaspar, their forces crashing against the newly built defenses. L was leading the charge, he couldn't be a good Conqueror if he was one to lead from behind. No, he faced the charge head on from the front, his back being an inspiration to his men to keep up. "Today we take Jaspar and bring us another city closer to world peace!" Waging war for peace - it didn't make sense, not unless the warmongerer was going to instill peace for the world under one banner. There was only one way they could bring large peaceful civilizations back again, to the age where humans prospered - and having independent little cities constantly skirmishing against each other was not the way to do it. To unite humanity means to make them strong again, so that they could overcome the calamity.

"The catapults are in place, sir." Pablo's voice went through the walkie, brushing his lavender hair aside, signaling the boats armed with catapults to begin opening fire, large flaming stones sent flying into the commerce city of Jaspar, causing wanton destruction and the city became a blaze, people dying left and right as they ran out of escape routes. It was planned perfectly, after mapping out the streets during their scouting mission, Pablo and Lise. Pablo would use his catapults to start fires, and then Lise's ground troops would march the enemies and corner them so that they had to decide between death by fire or death by gunshot. Each catapult had utterly precise aiming. "Good work, my boy." L praised the genius. Another of his soldiers, a captain known as Sam, also gave congratulations. "This will be a cinch, Pablo." The two boys were close and it made L happy to see his men getting along well. They were like a big family, after all.

Meanwhile Lise, a twelve year old girl, and there was no one more skilled at combat than she. Without even a light bearing mark, the Ace of the Conqueror's Army was able to defeat Stella and capture her. She was leading a small elite team while L was taking care of the bulk force, a joint attack to strike at Jaspar and shake the city to it's core. She fought with a small eastern-style sword, long, curved, and very sharp, as well as a gun emblazoned with L's seal on her hip. And then someone blocked her path, standing in the way with a large stick with a hammer at the end of it. "Little girl, you know nothing of war." Tanka said with a hearty laugh. Lise smiled thinly, she had been looked down on many times in the past now. "I'm not the Ace just for show." Lise dashed forward, slicing outwards with her word with a sudden burst of speed.

Jace's private ship had finally docked and the city of Jaspar was alight, a massive inferno sprawled through the city, it was beyond anything Rose could have expected. "Miiko, stay close to me, no matter what, you can not leave my sight." Jellyfish's eyes were serious, a series of bubbles were already forming to clear them a path through the flames. "Gavin and Callum are stranded behind enemy lines." Jace informed them. "Daisy, Jellyfish, you two have more experience, so you two need to get there and keep them alive." Jace turned to Rose and Miiko next. "The three of us have to go to the Vine Citadel to make sure Mayor Lindon is alive and well, we can't afford to lose him." Rose nodded, her rapier at the ready. "Understood."

It was just like her Father to give them a none combative job, but Miiko knew better than to complain in a situation like this. She would have to wait for another time and place but for now Miiko would follow her Daddy's orders and get Mayor Lindon to safety. "I will!" Miiko would stay planted firmly beside Rose because Miiko was not dumb, she knew that if she wanted to survive this battle she would have to learn from the best. A little birdy told Miiko that standing here before her, Rose knew what she was doing. Almost as soon as they engaged in combat did Rose change from a stuttering little bird to a soldier. Miiko would not ask how this came to be, she did not need to know about Rose's past to understand that there were some things that could never be mentioned. If Rose wanted to one day reveal her past to Miiko, then Miiko would be fine with it, but there were bigger things to be thinking of, one being the giant man swinging a battle ax in front of them.

"I've got it!" Jace yelled, tossing a small bottle at the large man. The bottle exploded, which made the man topple over. "This way!" They went down another path, using a back ally to take them to the cross roads. "Where do we go now?" Miiko asked, coughing thanks to the smoke clogging the normally beautifully clear air. Figures stepped out of the smog, some carrying weapons, others clutching their belongings or children. "Evacuate towards the beach! The ferry will take you all to Yavin!" Jace announced, looking down at the two girls. "This way," he gestured to the red path, taking them through one of the tents that belonged to a vendor. "Daddy, how long until we get there?" Miiko asked, sticking close to Rose. "Rose, do you have any ghost sense?" Miiko inquired, unsure as to how this worked. Could Rose tell when an enemy was three steps ahead?

"You there! Stop!" Two republic soldiers marched down the ally, holding spears. "Daddy!" Miiko hissed, clutching her pink wand. Jace turned around, "Rose, take Miiko and run. Follow the yellow path. You might not see it at first, but it will take you to the center of the city. Whatever you do, don't look back. Alright?" He kissed Miiko's forehead and handed Rose a piece of folded paper with the password to the building scrawled onto it. "Now go!" Miiko took Rose's hand, tugging her away from the scene, as much as it hurt. "Where do we find the yellow path?" Miiko asked, attempting to sound calm and in control despite the fact that she was panicking. She looked down at the markers pointing towards the sea and the market. "If the sea is that way and the market is that way, then we have to go the opposite way!" Miiko decided, the hand that was clutching Rose's shaking terribly.

"What if we don't find the Mayor? What if we don't find our way back to the boat?" It was strange to see Miiko, who was normally so confident in her abilities, to be shaking so badly.

Jaspar was on fire. And it was their job to jump into the flames and save as many people as they could, and if possible, drive back the fighting force because Jaspar was the stepping stone to Yavin. If Jaspar fell, the Conqueror and his republic would have easy access to the main hub of the Rebellion, and that would mean game over in an instant. They couldn't afford to lose Jaspar, not if Prisca wanted to redeem herself and be worthy enough to see Essie again. An ax man was handled by Jace, and so the trio continued through the smoke, all of them with scarves to help filter out the harmful smoke so that they could still breathe. They had to go fast, if they wanted to save Mayor Lindon there was no time to waste!

"Not really, it's not exactly a general thing." She wouldn't get the inflow of information to her brain until she focused her brain on a single enemy, it wouldn't just activate randomly. It meant that Rose's weak point was being attacked by surprise before she has a chance to focus and predict, which was why she was always trying to be aware of her surroundings at all times. But then two republic soldiers wielding spears stopped them in their tracks. "I can take one, you take the other, Boss." Rose said, whipping her rapier up, ready to thrust it into the heart of her opponent but then Jace had a different plan in mind, one that involved splitting up the party.

Rose nodded and grabbed Miiko by the hand, making sure her Caster was never far behind her. "If we are ever separated, just call my name into the Summoner and I will appear at your side." Her eyes were wide, pupils dilated, they had to find the yellow path. She let Miiko direct her in the direction of the yellow path and the two girls took off sprinting. "If both of those things come to pass, your father and the other Casters and Spirits will win, and so will we." And then suddenly she heard a sound, an enemy was very close. More than that, she saw a familiar body laying on the ground. Tanka, but he wasn't dead. "Don't look at me, the enemy's right behind you!" He shouted as he nursed a deep wound on his side.

Right them a soldier lunged at Prisca. She focused, and suddenly all of their moves became clear. Right as he tried to attack to the left, Prisca side stepped to the right and used her momentum to end up behind him, striking her rapier right into his back. She flicked it back out and kicked him in the legs before he could do anything and then delivered the coup the gras right into the heart. She was a duelist, after all, fighting on one one was her specialty. "Tanka, we-" But the shop owner shook his head urgently. "I'll live, there's no time! The little girl, she's going for the Vine Citadel, Lindon's in danger!" They had no time. "Caster, we have to go." Rose began to spring with practiced ease through the maze of Jaspar, looking for the yellow path.

"Okay, I'll keep that in mind!" Miiko called, her hands clutching the pretty pink wand that had been given to her by Nino. It was a weapon disguised as a child's toy, something so inconspicuous that Miiko would more than likely be able to take it across the border with ease, should she ever find herself needing to go to Capitol City, not that Miiko ever expected to go dive right into the heart of enemy territory. "If I get separated, call her name on the rose," Miiko repeated to herself in a mutter so that she could commit the instructions to memory. "If we ever get separated, call the name on the rose..." Miiko was so focused, in fact, that she had not noticed Rose stopping to speak to Tanka while Miiko bustled on ahead. She froze a block away, whirling around in panic. Miiko sprinted back over to Rose's side, discovering Tanka laying on the ground and urging them forward.

"Rose, behind you!" Miiko shrieked, prepared to uncover her weapon when Rose's power went into action. Miiko watched first hand the light bearing ability that Rose had been bestowed with. Her eyes widened, it was very obvious that Rose was not as weak as she pretended to be. Why did she not exude strength and confidence the same way she did now? Miiko did not know and unfortunately she had no time to dwell on it. "Right, let's keep going this way!" Miko grabbed Roses's hand, her heart no longer threatening to burst out of her chest. Now that they were together once more, Miiko felt a strange calm overcome her, as though by having Rose here was having a soothing side effect on Miiko's panic.

"We're almost there!" Miiko coughed, the exposed portion of her face streaked with dirt and sweat. The yellow path ended right below their feet. Miiko looked up, her eyes widening. The center of the city had been blocked off with flood gates surrounding one building, a house that was much larger than all of the others. "Mayor Lindon's home," Miiko realized. "We can climb over," Miiko mentioned. "This way," she listened, not hearing an electric buzz. Miiko grabbed the fence and began to climb over, vaulting herself over the top and landing on her butt on the other side. "Tada!" No time to admire her smooth moves, Miiko and Rose had to find Mayor Lindon and evacuate him from the city.

"Let's start inside of the building," Miiko led Rose up the pearly white steps of the old Parliament building in what used to be Washington DC. The statue in the front had collapsed, leaving nothing more than a crumpled store of marble slabs. The front doors were locked, which Echo should have expected, it would never be that easy. "It's too quiet," the pink haired girl realized. "Shh, listen," not so much as a scream to pierce the sky. Miiko crossed her arms in thought, wondering if the home had been abandoned and Mayor Lindon was hiding somewhere else.

They couldn't stay here, they had to keep going. Tanka insisted that he was fine and most importantly, their mission was to ensure the survival of Mayor Lindon. It felt nice using her ability again, as much as Rose hated to fight there was a certain sense of satisfaction then went with taking out an enemy in three moves, which was how long most of her duels went simply because of the nature of her gift. "Stay close." Rose needlessly reminded as the two girls shot through the city, mostly taking the paths less traveled so as to not be seen whenever possible. Miiko then lead them to a strangely familiar building, with vines growing all over it. It was like being hit by a truck, seeing the Parliament Building like this. Hopping over the fence, the two girls entered.

With a growing sense of foreboding, there was nothing greeting them in here except for silence, an odd emptiness compared to the loud cacophony of fire and death that was happening on the outside. "Be careful, Caster, I don't like this." She had defaulted to calling Miiko Caster because you never know who might be listening in. At least like this her face was partially obscured so perhaps she wouldn't be recognized on sight as the spoiled impulsive daughter of Jace Miya. This deafening silence was way too loud, wasn't it? It was all darkened, hardly any light was allowed in, this darkness serving to accentuate the eerie feeling of despair. What was there to do but keep searching, however?

Then they finally heard a voice, a familiar one, it was the voice of a little girl, but with a professional, military sort of accent to it, rather than a childish inflection. Lise, of course. "Mayor Lindon isn't here." She said and that was enough to give Rose a brief feeling of hope, if he wasn't here then he probably knew that it wasn't safe to stay here when the battle broke out. "Jace probably warned him beforehand, how troublesome." And then there was another voice, one that sounded like it belonged to a princely tall man with piercing red eyes. "Captain, there's someone here." Sam Hans spoke and the tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife.

That was how the two pairs eventually became face to face. Lise took one brief scrutinizing look towards the two and Rose stood in front of Miiko to try and hide her identity if possible. Rose was much more plain in appearance, so she wouldn't be quite so immediately recognizable. "It's just civilians." Lise said hastily and Sam seemed to not, agreeing with her statement. "If you were looking for your Mayor, he's not here." A tight smile formed on the child's face. "You should leave, a battlefield is no place for citizens to be." Sam's eyes were almost urging them to leave, to not try and fight Lise, but he said nothing because he had to protect his identity as the spy.
