Nijimura Shūzō

"What do you think you're doing...brat."

0 · 259 views · located in Exodus

a character in “KNB: Boardwalk Territory”, originally authored by moguwai, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Canon/OC: Canon
Name: Nijimura, Shūzō
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Faction: Civilian (retired Yakuza)
Appearance:
Hair color -- Black
Eye color -- Grey
Attire -- Normally dresses in dark colored button up shirts and tie with black slacks, a black jacket draped over his shoulders on colder days.

Personality:
On the surface, Nijimura has a very levelheaded and possesses a rather quiet disposition, taking everything in stride and always contemplating his choices before settling on a decision making him a well-respected leader. Nijimura is also an extremely family-oriented person, placing his family's well-being before any of his own desires. Despite his normally calm demeanor, Nijimura also has another side to him. When he is angered or irritated to the breaking point which rarely happens, the cool male resorts to violence, venting his anger upon whoever the poor victim is.

Background:
Once the respected leader of the Yakuzas, Nijimura led his faction towards victory and glory. However, as the Yakuzas gained more and more fame and notoriety over the years, the young leader received a note one day stating that his family was now in the hands of dangers. Without much consideration, he dashed alone into the unknowns, much to his peers' advice to save them, only to find out that he was far too late, their deaths eternally staining his hands.

Days slowly passed, escalating to weeks as he drowned in his own misery and uselessness, his warped thoughts eventually directing his hate and blame towards the very faction and people who pledged their lives to him, the very people he led. With the misguided negativity embedded within the young head, Nijimura left without a word, cutting all his ties with the Yakuzas and disappearing from the territory.

Gossip has it that the ex Yakuza leader is now living the life as a civilian and owner to a well-known bar named Exodus situated in Teikou Square, working as an information broker of sorts.

Special Abilities:
-- Hand-to-hand combat
-- Fast reflexes (but not as fast as Aomine)
-- Zanbatō (long sword) wielder

So begins...

{♜} -- Fingers glided languidly over the flat keyboard, eyes intent on the bright, glaring screen as minute characters gradually started filling up the empty, white space. One may have believed that being part of the Yakuza was a hoodlum's job, but Nijimura begged to differ. As the next head in line for the Yakuzas, the young heir knew better, knew clearer than anyone the burdens and responsibilities that came with the title.

Digits paused in their ministrations when the cellular device on solid mahogany desk started to vibrate, announcing that his attention was now needed somewhere. Lifting an index and thumb, Nijimura rubbed at his temples in hope to elude the threatening migrane as he picked up the call without even much as a glance at the screen.

"Yes Father, I'll pick her up at the Airport."

What will it be like, in this bland world?

{❦} The very thought, if heard of context, sounded more like something that an alien would say. But, in a way, that was exactly what this girl was. After all, never before had she left the confines of her father's grasp until it was no longer there; what sort of life would she live now that she was to live in another country? A part of Wenhe believed that, as she walked down the terminal from where she exited the plane's jetbridge, if she looked back now she would still see Taiwan behind her, would still see her home and the people who taught her everything. But, of course, looking back her eyes would only meet the sea of people that also were in the plane with her.

So as the heels of her best shoes clicked against the tile floors and her free hand fixed the skirt of her best dress before going up to tuck away the stray hairs back into the neat bun on her head, the girl of sixteen, almost seventeen, couldn't help but feel a lump in her throat similar to that of when her father hadn't come home. Is this fear? Anxiety? Honestly, amongst the insipidness of it all, that was the most logical answer. But that couldn't be the answer, anymore: she was the owner of her father's weapon company. Fear, worry, anything related to such emotions were no longer an option. And approaching the exit of the terminal where the ravenette was sure she would meet someone from the family that had offered to let her come to Japan in the first place, one very thought crossed her mind once more.

What will it be like, in this monochromatic world?

{♜} -- A quick glance shot towards the clock told him that he was on schedule, the flight he was awaiting for landing only fifteen minutes ago. It was important, his father reminded him on his journey. Important that he be the one receiving their 'guest' from abroad.

The word itself left a bitter taste in his mouth. It was merely a wordplay and since a long time ago, Nijimura had known of the intentions he had for him and their guest. It wasn't that he completely disagreed with his old man, or that he was rebellious. He had long grown out of that adolescent age, but as a Yakuza, Nijimura had seen too much losses and death to allow such a responsibility to be thrown onto him.

A responsibility he was raised to be ready for.

Sighing softly to himself, gray optics remained unmoving from the arrivals exit as they searched for a face that matched the picture in the pocket. It didn't take him long though, when he spotted a petite asian female with a neatly tied bun exiting the automatic sliding glass doors.

"Is this Wenhe Xiao-Dan?" He spoke as he approached the girl, eyes appraising the other to make sure he had gotten the right person. "I'm Nijimura Shūzō. Welcome to Japan."

{❦} With nothing but the reminder from one of her employees that the person picking her up would "find her on the dot", Wenhe couldn't help but wonder just how well the family knew her. Her father, obviously quite well, but she herself? One could only wonder if perhaps this wasn't the first time that they'd heard of Wenhe Mingyu's daughter.

But again, she had to chastise herself for thinking such worries. Honestly, they were a good business partner and kind enough to let her stay with them while she came to settle here in this country. The last thing she should be thinking of is something that adds a hint of wariness to their name. And looking forward large erinite orbs settled to someone who'd introduced himself to her. The girl blinked for a quick moment of silence before nodding in response, her hands folding neatly onto her lap as she bowed respectfully in greeting.

"I'm Wenhe Xiao-Dan," she said, the girl from Taiwan hoping that the years of Japanese practice had come to pay off. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

Staring down at the floor of the airport she tucked another stray hair behind her ear, standing back up straight and fixing her glasses before looking up to the man with the steel-colored eyes. "Please take good care of me, Nijimura-san."

{♜} -- Her greetings in a strangely accented Japanese was returned with a curt nod from the young Yakuza, an acknowledgement of her regards. Long arms extended themselves to the baggage behind her, automatically taking them into his hand as he led her towards the black automobile that awaited them outside.

The walk was silent, save for the occasional clack of heeled shoes and shuffles of feet. Monotonous gray optics kept to the front with a purpose, never once looking back at his guest.

"You'll be staying at the Nijimura residences," he finally broke the silence, never once breaking his stride. "Unless you prefer otherwise and I will do my best to arrange for suitable lodging for you."

{❦} While she'd been raised with private tutors and lived a comfortable life, the last thing she'd been expecting was for him to take her bags. The calm on her face broke for a moment with concern and her lips parted to almost let out a "Wait" so that she could at least hold one of her begs to lessen the burden. But, with the reminder of her arts teacher from years before, it was best to be grateful for the hospitality that one would offer; no matter how short of time they'd known one another.

Folding her hands back in front of her lap the girl only followed along behind him, her hands brushing against the silk of her dress and hearing the crisp chiffon that filled the skirt underneath shuffle a little. It added a strange irregularity to the monotony of their footsteps, and in a way it was relaxing to hear something not expected, even if it were herself that made such a barely audible sound.

But once the barely familiar voice rang in her ears again Wenhe's head snapped back up so she could look up at the back of his head, her head shaking from side to side at the offer of her preferring to stay elsewhere; even if Nijimura couldn't see. "Ah, no, it's alright... I am... Very grateful, for your family letting me stay. Truly, I owe you all my life, for this."

And it never struck her, just how accurate that last statement was.

Confidence oozed from her pores, not in an arrogant way but more in the fashion of a woman who knew why she had come and what she had come for; long story short she had planned to get drunk. Dressed comfortably although it was fair to say that comfortable meant a different thing to the Yakuza then it did to most people, a black suit with pastel blue tie tugged loose. A flowery pin in her loose, wind blown and dark hair. Heels; her favourites, the ones she could quite easily run in if she had to thanks to a lot of practise. Hey, but she wasn't here to be eye candy (although such a label would no doubt be questionable at best by the majority of the Japanese population). Arm in arm with a few 'brothers' from the clan, she had declared with a soft and motherly tone that she would get the first round. Pleased to be called Reo-nee by them whether she was thanked or not and had practically pranced up to the bar with smooth and confident strides to get served. Busy, it had taken a few minutes to get the barman's attention. Thing is, she hadn't really been paying much attention the first time or so. Simply asked, paid, wandered off with her drinks while having her ear chatted off by her companions. They were all much more experienced then her when it came to fieldwork. She almost regretted having been sheltered and schooled afield.

Oh, but, at some point of other- possibly when it had gotten less busy and subsequently the bar wasn't being constantly assailed with requests for drinks- there had been some sort of familiarity. Some click of recognition as time passed and it left her leaning across the bar surface, leaning on one elbow, as she smiled softly. "Hm~ I'm having the strangest sense of déjà vu you know?"

{♜} -- It had been a rather slow day, compared to the other days. It was on particular days like these that gave the young bar owner a sense of foreboding of a surprise that life was about to spring at him. Surprises that weren't necessarily that of the good kind. And it was when the group of people that had strode in through shaded doors was his premonition proved correct as ever. It took him almost no effort to identify the newcomers as members of the Yakuza, the mere thought of the single word enough to send anger boiling through his veins once more. However, anger was quickly smoothed away with that of a neutral yet professional smile that didn't reach his eyes as Nijimura greeted his customers in silence, the only thing giving away his emotions the hand that was gripping the glass cup he was polishing in his hands with more force than required.

Fingers worked deftly at every given order, and in times that there were no one to serve, he busied himself with the polishing of already sparkling clean glasses. All to distract himself of the impending rage that boiled within him. However, the thought of the single feminine face that kept returning to him disturbed the young bar owner -- it seemed awfully familiar, yet not at the same time.

The next of her returns did nothing to solve the perplexity that was gnawing at him, his stares starting to linger longer with every time she came back to him with a new order. He had not intended to question her identity despite his curiosity -- work ethics, he told himself before allowing her to leave once more. However this time, she did not.

"Really." He spoke in a disinterested tone, setting yet another polished glass on the counter. "So many have said under the influence of alcohol, Miss."

"I suppose, except I'm not drunk yet." Replied with a sanguine smile as she continued to gaze at his face thoughtfully. Something about his eyes... Not to be cliche; her thoughts were anywhere but romance right now. "...You really are... Familiar though." Tapping a finger to her lips as she considered what to do. "...Can I get your name? If you don't mind that is." Names were harmless right? --Sort of, depending on who you shared them with. Resting her face on one hand, propped up where her elbow had settled on the bar surface. Ignoring the hollering of the guys from the table who wanted their drinks with a dismissive wave, halfhearted rude gesture all in good sport.

{♜} -- Setting the last of the freshly polished cups upon the display rack, Nijimura raised his gaze to finally take a good, close look at the lady who had been boring holes into him with the unwavering stare of hers. With no other activities requiring his immediate attention, the information broker took his time in scrutinizing the girl he assumed to be Yakuza -- after all, he did notice the company she came in with.

"I believe it would be dangerous, given the nature of both our work." He replied smoothly, keeping his words vague. "After all, I could be easily...compromised."

She fell silent, scrutinising the others stern expression. It really was familiar... "You didn't go to a boarding school did you?" She asks, trying to narrow things down and it's moments later with a startled expression she dares to coo softly; "Shuu-Chan?" The face... His voice... No it definitely had to be. She didn't have an iota of doubt, abruptly lunging across the counter for a hug and pulling up short halfway because-- Well- He might think he was being assaulted (close enough). "Shuu-Chan! You've been here all this time? I was really upset to come back and find you gone!" She has dropped the lifting of her pitch, her voice is a little rougher and more stern-- but no less effeminate just. Upset and happy all in one. "First Miya-Chan and now Shuu-Chan... This is a lot of nostalgia."
