Slender, gloved digits tugged at his scarf as he waited idly. Wanting to check his phone but knowing if he kept checking it he would no doubt be teased for it. Awaiting the pale haired and often overlooked boy he had once attended school with; no longer although they were still friends of course. Muddy-hued eyes flit up and down the street before dipping to the ground. Dithering over his ankles where he absently took in the high-top imitation converse that were laced all the way up, the basketball design laces that had tickled his fancy for some reason though they clashed with the green design of the shoes and no doubt made him seem younger than he was.

"Come on, Kuroko." He exhaled slowly, not exactly cold but more impatient than anything. They hadn't really agreed where to go beforehand but he had no doubt they'd manage to find something if they looked long enough. That was good enough; perhaps a small, local cafe would be good. "Hurry up." Intoned to himself.

Making his way to the meeting spot had not been easy; rather than transportation, it was the fact that he had to find someone to cover his shift. It was alright, taking a day off like this. Meeting with an old friend was definitely worth the work, and he was happy more than anything to finally be united with a close friend. A face he had not seen since middle school, Kuroko was amazed that the other still had the same number.

Walking around the busy streets, the phantom found the person he was looking for, and headed over, uncharacteristic goofy grin gracing his usually-stoic features. However, his usual face was resumed once more, and he tapped the other's shoulder. "Ogiwara-kun."

He started, an abrupt jerk. It wasn't an unfamiliar sensation to have the other suddenly appear but it would be more accurate to say he was simply unused to it after so long. Where he might have caused a fuss out of surprise he skipped to the chase and half turned, slinging an arm around the pale haired mans' shoulder to pat it before letting his arms drop to his side again. Wondering if Kuroko would have asked him to stop, like the old days, if he hadn't let up out of politeness.

"You look well, Kuroko." He prompted cheerfully as he tugged his scarf down so he could speak more clearly. It was good to see him, to see the broad smile on his face; he hadn't changed. He felt reassured by that thought. "I figured we could go somewhere warm like a cafe, my treat because I invited you out?" Or something to that effect. He'd gotten taller huh... Though not by much. Or had Ogiwara simply shot up a lot during puberty? He had no idea, hadn't specifically kept track really. Hands jamming into his pockets. "Hah, but, I'm not too familiar with the area so maybe we can walk around until we find something?"

The reaction was definitely something he missed. Sure, it was commonplace at his jobs, but when an old friend does it, he couldn't help but smile at the silly jump. When he felt the arm around his shoulder, Kuroko was quite compelled to request that his friend take the arm away, but because they had not seen each other for so long, he decided that perhaps tonight they just relax. There was no reason to draw any boundaries anymore, not when they had been so close before drifting apart.

"You as well, Ogiwara-kun." The greeting was returned in kind, and Kuroko snuggled a bit more into his scarf to avoid the cold. "Anywhere is fine for now. To be honest, I would much rather we not catch up in such a cold environment." Seeing a small café nearby, he headed towards it, and turned back to Ogiwara. "Are you coming? I'm sure we can catch up and discuss the day over a nice cup of hot chocolate."

"Coming." He confirmed with a grin as he increased his pace until he was level with the pale man and then matched it. It was refreshing getting a change of scenery, away from studies and the like. "So, have you been up to anything interesting lately?" Being slightly taller, he automatically reached for the door though he didn't offer to hold it until he had already entered and subsequently half-turned towards him. Ahh, what awkward positioning, but then he was too excited to be seeing him to be thinking about silly things like minor, common courtesies and etiquette.

"So you don't drink coffee? Or tea?" He asked softly, surprised. Somehow he had imagined he would, it just being a normal part of getting older or something like that. As they sat at a table he chose the opposite seat but didn't sit directly opposing the blue haired man so he could stretch his legs out without kicking him. "Hmm... Hot chocolate does sound nice though." Lunch too, although he wasn't sure if Kuroko had eaten. Should he ask? Pensively he paused, so used to simply texting him. It felt a little weird to be reunited so suddenly and he itched to just reach for his phone instead.

"Do you want something to eat?" Fingertips brushed his brown hair out of his face before he settled his chin on one hand, arm propped up by elbow played atop smooth if slightly sticky table. He paused, waving for a waitress; "Can you wipe this down? It's a little dirty. Please." Asked out of automatic politeness and then sitting back as she proceeded to do so quickly. Eyes flitting from the woman to his conversational partner. "Like a sandwich or something?"

Kuroko walked in after Ogiwara, just a bit irate that even his childhood friend was now taller than him. However, casually hanging out with an old acquaintance was a nice change of pace; he was so used to everyone approaching him with the desire of knowledge and information, after all, so a casual outing such as this was quite rare for the broker. The café was a quaint little place, and though Kuroko rarely visited this area (if at all), he did know of this place and its food and drinks.

He saw that Ogiwara was about as awkward as he himself was. For the longest time, before losing contact since middle school, the two of them had kept in contact via phone and text messaging. He was indeed itching to reach for his phone, but having met with Ogiwara after so long, he thought it rude to do such. Instead, he looked up to his friend, and watched as the other tried to strike a conversation. He figured that perhaps he would also join in.

"I think I will have a hot chocolate...and perhaps a sandwich. It seems to be a good time for lunch." He mused, looking over to the menu that was folded neatly at their table. Placing it down, he then turned to look at Ogiwara, and tilted his head a bit. "What about you, Ogiwara-kun? What are you going to have?"

"A sandwich is probably a good idea... The salmon sounds good..." He muses aloud, tone pensive, as he glances through the small but no less delicious sounding selection of fillings in a contemplative manner. He added, quickly, in a polite tone; "And... Tea. I don't always drink it but it sounds good about now." Sitting back comfortably, he lifted a hand, tried to get the attention of a waitress as the one that had been wiping the table had left. Smiling at them when they approached. "Ah, can we order? I'd like a sandwich, the salmon. A tea- no sugar, thank you, a hot chocolate- Kuroko, do you want it with marshmallows or anything?" Falling quiet to give him an opportunity to order.

Kuroko tilted his head as Ogiwara muttered something, and he later realized that the brunet was contemplating his order. The waitress was passing by, and Ogiwara had waved her over. Kuroko turned to the waitress when she had arrived, and after Ogiwara had ordered his food, the phantom man placed his own order. "I'd like a turkey sandwich, and a cup of hot chocolate, marshmallows on the side." Once she had left again, Kuroko turned to his friend. "How have you been, Ogiwara-kun? It's beel awhile since we last met." Perhaps a bit too straightforward, but breaking the ice was better than eating in silence.

"Yeah, how many years?" He whistled softly as he contemplates it, ruffles his own hair slightly in an unconscious gesture. "I've been fine, good-- Studying you know?" He'd text Kuroko about this before but it felt good to talk about it. He relaxed a little. "Honestly had no idea so I just picked the two things I liked best. Sport. Forensics and Criminology. Not really a great match huh?" Laughing nervously as he took in the other man's expression. "So, what about you? You talk less and less of yourself lately."

"I believe since third year of Middle School...." Kuroko recounted the last time that the two of them had met. Hearing Ogiwara's choice of majors piqued Kuroko's interest, and he nodded. "How are your studies coming along? Those are interesting classes you have picked." When redirected to himself, Kuroko just looked to Ogiwara, head tilting. "Really? Is that the case? I apologize. As of now I'm working two part-time jobs to pay for my grandmother's hospital bills."
