The next day Jason agreed to meet with Sears. They met at a small restaurant in Malibu.
"So, I'm assuming you asked for this lunch date because you have an answer for me?" Sears asked as he sat across the table from Jason. "Yeah...I do. But before we shake on it, you got what I asked for?" Jason said. Sears nodded, he knew working with Jason was going to be tricky, the day before on the phone Jason had requested official documentation of everything Sears had promised, and he had asked for it to be signed, not just by Sears, but also by the FBI director himself, as well as being noterized by a federal judge, and he demanded original copies for himself personally. It was a tough call for Sears, Jason wasn't buying Sears deal on good faith alone, and these documents would make it impossible for Sears to go back on anything. It wasn't that he was trying to set Walker up, in reality he admired Walker for being able to get out of the lifestyle. However he knew how hard that lifestyle is to leave behind, and by sending Walker back in, armed with a golden get out of jail free card, Sears was in a tough spot. The whole idea was for Jason to get out once the investigation was done, but there was nothing Sears could do to guarantee that. He couldn't put an expiration date on the deal, as they had no idea how long the investigation would take. The thought that worried him was who he was giving these documents too, a former outlaw who was trying to help the government wipe out a crime ring, or somebody who was looking to get back into the outlaw lifestyle. But he knew that nothing happened without the documents, if they wanted to shutdown the GCS there was no other way. "Yeah, I got them right here, signed and sealed just as you asked" Sears said, sliding the copies over to Jason who looked them over carefully, paying attention to the specific wording and any potential fine print.
"Okay it all looks good. Now here's the deal...Nicky can't just magically get out of jail, there will be too many questions" Jason said. Sears nodded "We've talked to the US Attorney's office, they're going to re-open Mr.Rhodes case, citing inconsistencies in reporting and the investigation overall. That should give your lawyers all the leverage they need to press for Mr.Rhodes conditional release" Sears said. "You said he was out free and clear" Jason countered. Sears chuckled "He IS out free and clear, but like you just said...he can't just walk out of prison. Eventually the US Attorney's office will declare that they're dropping all the charges, and Mr.Rhodes will be remanded to time already served...out...free and clear, it's all in the documentation" Sears said, Jason nodded as he looked it over. "And that conditional release will allow him to leave Texas?" Jason asked. "If he has an employment opprotunity in Oregon he will. We can arrange that, once he has the job offer, that will be enough for the DA's office to grant him permission to leave for Oregon." Sears said. "Alright, then I'll be heading down south soon to hook back up with the club, I'll call you when we're ready for the transfer" Jason said. He took the documents, shook hands with Sears and the two of them finished their meal and left.
When Jason got back he found Lolly sleeping with Jack. He tapped her to wake her up, she asked how it went, "I'll tell ya later, just looked like you were comfortable" he whispered, she told him he was fine and asked again. "It went good, everyting is set with Sears, now I just gotta let the boys I'm coming down for a visit, then we can be on our way" Jason said kissing her. Seeing Jack sleep Jason slipped down to the floor, "you like playing with fire" he said quietly..."don't wake the baby" he whispered as he pulled her sweat pants down, he loved the fact that he could still shock Lolly after all these years. She couldn't even protest for fear of waking Jack up. People sometimes complained about things being boring after marriage, but evidently Lolly and Jason didn't follow suit. Jason had to laugh to himself as he watched Lolly try to contain herself and keep herself quiet as he went to work.
After Jason's game, he went out and started making calls to arrange things. Lolly came out after putting Jack down to sleep. "You look a little rattled" Jason said taunting her, she grabbed his shirt glaring at him then whispered something into his ear which just made him grin more before she walked off, Lolly said she was going to take Mireya to the store, whispering to him again before they left. Nickie had come over just after Lolly left, she said she was getting fed up helping Deacon with the yard work. "What is up with that guy? Retirement has changed him" Jason said laughing. He then asked if Nickie could watch Jack, he then went to Elly's room.
"Hey...whatcha reading?" he asked as she was curled up in the corner of her bed reading. She told him the book, "Cool...hey...do you know of anyone who'd want to go on a bike ride with me?" Jason asked with a smirk. He saw the grin spread across Elly's face. She was really quiet and shy, but her and Rey both couldn't resist having their dad take them out for a ride on his big bike. He walked with her, helping her onto the bike and putting her helmet on her. He put his on then fired up the bike, he grinned watching Elly, her and Rey were different. Rey loved to go fast, she didn't care about anything else, just going fast. Elly seemed to get a kick out of the engine roar, she also wasn't fond of going very fast, but loved it when her dad revved the motor while she was on the bike. Jason got on as Elly gripped his waist tight, the girls were too big to ride in front of him anymore. Jason revved the engine a few times, producing a giggle out of Elly before he took off down the street. They rode for awhile all over before stopping near a beach. They got off and walked and sat down by a tree watching the waves crashing in on the shore. Rey would never have been able to handle it, but Elly loved stuff like this. Jason held her as they sat together, even at her age Elly didn't mind her dad holding her from time to time. After awhile she began talking softly, this was kinda of their routine. Where Mireya would talk anytime or anywhere, Elly was a lot more shy, but when they'd have these quiet moments together she'd open up to him, not quite the way she did with Lolly, but that was just girl stuff. But there was another reason he had taken her on this trip. "So tomorrow's the day right?" he said quietly, he watched as his daughter just nodded. The next day marked the anniversary of Jetta's accident. Jason just sat there with Elly for awhile before she started talking again, he just listened as she talked about Jetta, "Yeah...your mom was a special woman" Jason said. Jason was used to the script, she'd sometimes talk about how mad she was, how unfair it was that Jetta died, all sorts of stuff, but today she blindsided him. Jason sat there thinking he knew what was coming next when Elly looked up at him and asked him why he stopped loving Jetta and loved Lolly instead. The man who had a response for any situation he ever ran into...was completely speechless. He was quiet himself as he tried to figure out how to respond to the question. "You are growing up way to fast little lady" he said with a grin as she just kept waiting for the answer. "You know...I guess it's time you heard the whole story" he said kissing her head. "Me and your mom were together a long time ago, and I loved your mom a lot. One day....I came home....and she was gone. She was still pregnant with you inside, and she felt like she needed to get away. There was a lot of bad stuff happening to a lot of people around the club. She left so that her baby...our baby...wouldn't get hurt. And nobody really knew where she went, she was gone for awhile until she finally came back, and when she did, she had this tiny little baby girl with her" Jason said kissing Elly again.
Elly then looked up and asked why they didn't get back together then. "You're going to turn into a lawyer aren't you?" Jason chuckled as his daughter continued her cross-examination. "Well...it was a long time your mom was gone...she didn't ever call, or write...I thought she had left me. Me and Lolly were always close, and fell in love with each other during that time. By the time your mom came back, me and Lolly were together, it was a little awkward at first. But you know...I think me and your mom got a long better as friends than we did when we were together. But for the record, I never stopped loving your mom...it was just different that's all" Jason said. The questions bringing back a lot of old memories. Elly asked why he couldn't just have both, Lolly and Jetta, like he did with Mireya and Elly. Jason laughed, as he had visions of the one wild night that he spent together with both Lolly and Jetta, that was definitely not a kid-appropriate memory to share he thought to himself with a chuckle. "Because it just doesn't work that way sweetie" he said. He saw Elly pick up a rock and throw it at a tree, she then punched the ground, getting upset, she said she wanted to break something but nothing was big enough. "You want to do something to get your anger out huh?" he asked as she nodded. "I'm probably a horrible parent for doing this...but grab your helmet" he said picking her up they headed to the bike. Awhile later Jason's bike roared into an abadoned gravel pit, he'd found it one time driving around. There was an old office, windows and stuff still intact. Elly asked what they were doing here. Jason reached down to his boot and pulled out a small 9mm hand gun, even in Malibu he still carried a weapon, maybe force of habit. "There's 14 shots in it...and I got another clip if you need it" Jason said handing the gun to Elly. He stood behind her, telling her how to hold it properly, how to aim properly etc. "Now...when you're ready....just pull" Jason said. Elly pulled once, she flinched at the sound, but her eyes widened when she saw a window shatter into tiny pieces. She quickly fired off the remaining rounds as Jason helped her aim. Jason loaded another clip into the gun and Elly repeated the process, he could tell by the look on her face that this had helped her more than throwing rocks. "Okay...my only rule...you only do this with me or Lolly....and I better not EVER catch you with a gun like this by yourself...got it?" Jason asked, Elly nodded then grinned saying softly "you mean you and mom", Jason smiled "yeah...that's what I meant" he said giving her a hug. They rode back to the house by the time they got back Lolly had been back from the store.
As they walked in Elly ran and jumped giving Lolly a big hug and kiss before whispering something to her before disappearing to her room. Jason went to the office to finalize things for their trip down to Texas in a few days, he'd contacted the club and they were expecting him. As he was going over his map Lolly walked in, at first Jason figured she was just giving him a massage as he worked, till she mentioned something about teaching a 12 year old to shoot. Jason looked up, as Lolly started talking.
