Rokuro is the sixth and last son of the Genbei, a clan of Kugè (or Nobility) in the Imperial City. Despite being the youngest, he was also the most mature of his siblings and often ventured out to the Lower Quarters to see what the world beyond his castle walls was like. Often earning his parent’s reprimands but in his disguise, he also learnt of the lives the people outside led. His insight eventually earned him a place beside his father at the annual branch meetings. However, that was when he saw the injustice that took place in the courts.
At age seventeen, under the pretence of studying under a renowned Omyoji, he visited Nishiko and sought to make a difference on his own. He lived with them and secretly shared his wealth with the poor, but one fine day when they found out his status as a Kugè –they killed him, took his gold and left him for dead in the lowlands…almost dead.
But he was saved by the Vanara though not without cost, some say he changed after he was lost. The people of Nishiko say he was replaced by an oni, when he no longer felt sympathy for them. Despite this, not many people know him by face.
*The seventh son usually studies under an Omyoji or Spiritualist, Rokuro is secretly the seventh son but was declared the sixth when Takasu, the second son was executed for killing his mother. It was kept in the family.
