A murderous, vile water spirit from the murky depths.

Description

The Neck, also known as Nix, Nyx, Nixie, Näck, Nek, Nykr, Nykk, or Näkki, a malevolent spirit of the ponds, a vile demon of the lakes, a deceptive seducer of the depths. The Neck is a transgender shapeshifter, sometimes it appears as a male, sometimes as a female, sometimes as both, sometimes as neither. It seduces others with it's singing and it's violin playing, luring them into the depth in which it dwells, waiting for a time to strike, for when the enthralled victim walks too close to the habitat of the Neck, it strikes and drowns it's victim, and effectively devours it. It's looks can be decieving, as it appears as a beautiful, voluptous human figure and combined with it's enchanting singing and violin playing, very few can resist it's temptations. It's true form is a disgusting, truly horrifying merge of a human, a plant and a fish, eager to devour anything and everything that falls to it's trap.

Yet, surprisingly, he has a surprisingly humane pastime, as he tends to swim around and slack off in riverbeds when not actively hunting. In some nights, he rises up from the depths and walks among humans, feasting with them.

It is said that he will teach it's music to anyone who offers a certain gift to him. There are also some ways to fend off the Neck when going swimming...
A flock of nix roses and lily pads mark the homestead of the Neck. At times, a chilling scream can be heard from nearby lakes or ponds, indicating an evil omen...

In it's true form, The Neck appears as a rather tall humanoid with a slender build. It has a hideous facial appearance and rows of small jagged teeth ideal for carving out flesh from bones. It has small snake eyes embedded in rather large and dark eye sockets. It's hair consits of various forms of seaweed, and it's wet and green-tinted skin has clusters of barnacles in it. It has long fingers with sharp fingernails, as well as webbed hands and feet. It's other bodily features depend largely on which gender it is currently appearing as. It has some tied-up seaweed for (just barely) covering the genitalia, as well as for decoration for some other parts of it's body. It smells like a mix of dried frogs and mold. When disguised as a human, it appears as a gorgeous and luscious pale-skinned blonde, either male or female.

So begins...

The positively luscious young male-looking creature sat amidst the swamps, playing his violin tunes all by himself, waiting for strangers to come by. The last dryad ,that was dying to touch his skin ,was so very very unsatisfying to him, so he hoped to meet a burly centaur or something of that shape and size.
He suddenly felt an exceptionally cold breeze coming from the northern forests. Disgruntled by this fact, he turned back into his positively hideous form and disappeared in the murky depths below. The soothing flows of dark and thick swampwater felt more natural to him anyway, the air feels so dry and unsettling. But what was more unsettling was the pillar of smoke above, coming from the forests. While he was safe from a possible forest fire, the lack of a forest might drastically affect his chances of getting food, so he swam up a riverbed towards the forests...

The swamp-thing was definetly closer to the pillar of smoke, but he was awfully suprised by the absence of a forest, and the presence of a huge desert. Clearly he had spent too much time stalking people in the marshlands. Luckily, the trees bordering the desert provided a better view from the top, as well as small woodland creatures for snacks. Standing above the treetops, he saw a huge mangled structure on fire, producing an enormous stack of smoke, as well as a handful of humanoids and a dragon next to it. He could but wonder the current situation, as some humanoids were laying on the ground, and others were screaming for whatever reason. Sadly he could not examine the situation any closer, as sand and the already hot temperature are not healthy for a creature dependant on moisture and water. The only sensible thing to do at this point would be to wait for them to enter the forests, surely they won't stare at the wreckage all day...

After days of non-stop singing and violin-playing, The Neck started to grow tired and impatient. He was furious to see that even more people seemed to have appeared at the wreckage, disproving his earlier theory. He was even more furious to take note of his own stupidity. Who on Kothar could ever notice a singing beauty on the treetops, if people are walking below him? He sighed and continued to observe the situation over by the wreckage. If only he could fly and snatch that small female he spotted aside the creatures. Though the girl might be a nice person, nice enough to tolerate his true appeareance perhaps, his hunger was getting ahead of his logic.

Seeing some clouds up ahead, he might have a chance of reaching the desert comfortably wet and not burning alive. He continued to wait for his chance to get a decent meal.

Now that the little group of monsters and humans were finally heading out of the desert, Alex breathed a small sigh of relief knowing that no one was going to die... Probably...
Turning back towards the corpses of the crash, she knelt down next to the closest one and pulled out her death dagger which she was about to use to conjure the dead werewolf. Moving quickly and efficiently she cut a small amount of skin of the back on the humans neck before placing it into a vial where it would be kept as fresh as possible before she could return home and add the DNA to her conjuring pot.
Once finished, she shrunk her body back to the size of a pixies and felt her wings appear on her back, taking off into the air she quickly zipped and weaves past the group into the forest, landing by the a small river that was near the entrance to the forest. Stopping to glance around and make sure their was no danger she gave a satisfied nod before looking upwards as she felt a drop of water hit the back of her neck... Basically drenching the poor pixie.
Flying up to investigate found her looking at the back of Neck's head. "So even creepy water spirits get curious. I thought you only cared about eating people... Oh wait that's probably why you came huh." She stated as she flew round so that she now floated in front of the things face. She had never had a problem with neck before and had talked to the spirit once or twice, escaping easily with the help of her undead, speaking to it whenever she came across the spirit.

Alice waded through the thick smoke of unconsciousness, family images swirled around her like teasing specters. Non-existent tears rolled down her face. So cruel was the universe she was born in, become one of Earth's last hopes and then, just when they find a possible solution, it's swiped away leaving a 13 year old girl, who didn't even want to go on the trip, alone and a middle aged man who didn't even know how he got there. What were they going to do now? They couldn't contact Earth and they were surrounded by potentially dangerous creatures. Alice had read enough to know what they were, but she wondered if they acted and could do what her books had said. Light slashed through the smoke Alice was waking up. She was going to live, she would seek out a species here willing to take care of her. She couldn't live on her own. She didn't know enough about the creatures here.

Alice opened her eyes, she was being carried by the werewolf into the treeline of a forest, "Thank you." she whispered before relaxing into silence, she would be okay soon.

"*snort* H-..What?"
The Neck had fallen asleep over time, truly awareness was not his greatest gift. To his disgust he saw a pixie in front of him, that particular pixie he have had trouble eating over the years. He had given up on her a long time ago. Even though his morbid appearance, the pixie always sought to speak to him, and this troubled and annoyed him. After several seconds of loathing, he finally opened his mouth:

"Great, out of all creatures on this armpit of a planet YOU show up. Shouldn't you be caught in a spider's web, or playing pranks on minotaurs? Get out of my face you wretched bug."

"Nawwww!!! Necky-Poos! I thought we had finally had a break through, you cut me real deep, reeeeeeaaaaalllll deeeeeeeeeeeep!" She mocked a pain in her heart as she gave the spirit a cheeky grin, "Now, now, let's not go all hormonal on me. I just wanted to give you some of my much sort after and desired company but hay, I see how it is." She said as she changed back into her human form and rested herself gently on one of the branches. Still facing neck she gave him a cute smile before continuing, "Now dreary, why not tell dear Aunty Alex why your hiding up here in the trees? I'm sure our guests below would love to see you beautiful Face..." She trailed off slightly, glancing down at the group that was now entering the forest.

The Neck scoffed at the vague attempts at humor the sad little pixie made, though the mention of a group of human travellers seemed interesting. One more minute without a proper meal would surely make him go feral. He would not let this bug ruin his chances at a meal. In a blink of an eye, he definetly looked more appealing than a moment ago, curly golden hair resting at his pale, smooth shoulders. A violin played enthralling tunes in his delicate, pale hands. He spoke with a more softer and harmonious voice:
"I always did think you looked a bit more desirable in that size, less like a puny insect. Some flesh on your bones would look good on you. But, alas, your brain has not taken the effects of your transformation. But you are right, they would like a soothing tune to their life. A trek over a hot desert after falling from the sky does no good to your nerves."

"Really, you just have to go and eat everything you lay your eyes upon... Except me that is." She sent the now handsome water spirit a wink. She knew she pissed him off but that was the fun bit, he was generally the only person she knew that could trade insults with her like it was a game. "Why thank you deary, though I'm sure you mean I look much more appetising when I'm big. Though I should inform you that someone's smarts is not effected by the size of the brain, for example, humans have bigger brains than pixies but we are generally the one who trick them as they fall into our traps." She commented as she glanced at her nails, examining them with vague interest as Necks violin started up.
"You are aware there is a Werewolf, Succubs and Ice dragon in that group. Though the werewolf might be susceptible to you music, I don't think the Succubs would be effected at all while the dragon is to strong for you music, and seeing as they all seem to like the humans I don't think your going to get your meal anytime soon..." She trailed off as she turned to watch the group along with Neck.

"You got me all wrong pixie, i do like humans, i like you all. My hunger is a burden i hate to carry, but alas, i too must satiate my needs, even if it means losing someone you like. Humans cannot outsmart those who are more mentally eh..challenged than them, because those who outsmart them rely in magic, in trickery. Our powers of illusion have granted us control over them. And why do we control them? We control them to satiate our own desires because we can. We are the manifestations of the divine who play their own games over the lives of mortals and immortals alike."

The neck turns his head towards the passing group. His music swirls around him, floating phrases of tongues long lost.

"Yes, they have grown fond over the outlanders. Pitiful. But it is true that i am very unable to reach them while they are protected by that disgustingly cold creature. And you, you dare to defy your true nature just to appear as one of them in your own habitat? They are trekking over your lands, your forests. Soon they will breed like the filthy insects they are. They will chop down these lands and desecrate the shrines and groves you have lived your whole life in. You are smart enough to defy me and my music. But you truly are a fool."

"Hay! Just because i have a creepy obsession with the dead doesn't mean i am mentally challenged!" She growled out defensively before crossing her hands over her chest and sending him a pout, "And don't get all high and mighty on me, illusions are easy to break if the mind is strong enough. You should know that from past experience." She sent the spirit a cheeky grin before hopping onto her feet and began to walk across the branch, arms stretched out as if to keep her balance.

"And ewwww! The only two humans alive is a 13 year old girl and a middle aged man! I don't think they will be going at it like rabbits any time soon neck." She commented as she sent him a are-you-kidding-me look over her shoulder before she turned her body around and began to walk back towards the spirit, eyes focused on her feet. "You spend so much time insulting my intelligence but really, who's being a little paranoid? Hmmmm? You. You just said so yourself, we are the reincarnations of the divine..." She paused for a second before giving the spirit a once over, remembering his other form and giving a shiver, "Well most of us are at least. I have no fear that i could kill those two little humans if they became a threat to my home, though i highly doubt it seeing as there are only two of them." She commented as she finally made her way back to the spirit and plopped herself down again, leaning back onto her hands as she gave him a long look. "Why not just chill for once and see what happens, who knows it could be entertaining." She sent a smirk at the spirit.

"Humans are pack animals. They'll soon discover the disappearance of a vessel. They'll come. But i guess you are right, little one, i am being paranoid. But i am ready." He walks along the branches, feeling refreshed by the light rain that has come upon the forest. He returns back to his less appealing form, though this time a more feminine one. In a blink of an eye, she grabs a red robin from the air, squeezing the creature in his fist. "I'm ready to show them that they are not welcome here." In a split-second move, she snaps the spine of the bird, letting a faint chirp somewhere from the depths of the broken creature.

"I forgot how lovely you personality is." She commented blandly as Neck turned back into his hideous form, a female version this time, and watched as he killed the little robin. Hoping up, she walked over to where Neck was standing before gently taking the corpse from his hands and holding it cupped in her own, "Just remember Neck, everything that is killed can come back to haunt you in one way or another." She whispered as she brought the little robins body up to her lips, righting its neck and gave its feathered head a kiss. Moving back she held her hands open and watched as the little bird hopped onto its feet and took off into the sky. "That's why I do everything I can to help spirits move on or rejoin us in the world of the living...", He face looked meloncoly for a second before it was gone and she sent Neck another cheeky smile.

"Come on deary, let's go introduce you to the group. Unless you want to hide up here and be a creeper." She commented, "That reminds me I need to go and deal with those human corpses later, you can come eat some of them if your feeling peckish." She commented nonchalantly.

Feeling disgusted to the fact that the pixie undid his point, he tried to ignore her lesson about morals and necromancy. She saw nothing in necromancy, just another illusion. An illusion that mimics life. She followed the pixie.
"Not everyone desires to spend an eternity in this mortal coil. The spirit world should be no-ones business. As a pixie you should be very aware of this."

"I'd rather steer clear of the group. Surely they would know who to blame when a human goes missing. Besides, they would not appreciate my appearance...And no thank you, the flesh of the dead has no value to me."
She sat down on a branch, showing no interest in the pixie.

"Yes, it's true that no one wants to be immortal but that doesn't mean they want their life snuffed out before it's time. Necromancy is just a way of extending the life of others, unlike those damn human stereotypes..." She grumbled to herself as she thought about the little girls comment about zombies.

"That's a good idea actually, don't try eating any of the humans or I will be a tattle tale! Don't worry who you appearance love, it grows on you... Eventually..." She commented as she began to shrink her body to that of a pixies again and now floated in the air, silvery wings beating softly.

"I don't get what's so bad about dead flesh, technically you eat if everyday when you dragged whatever poor soul got leered in by your music into your home and eat them. There is no way for them to be alive while you eat them so technically your eating dead meat." She commented before glancing at neck and pouting when she noticed the spirit was no longer paying attention to her.

"Fine, I see when I'm not wanted." She said as she made her way back towards the hole in the canopy she had come up through before pausing, glancing back at the spirit and getting an evil smile.

Spinning around quickly, she turned her body back to human and flung her arms across the poor spirits back as she gave him a deadly hug. "I will chat to ya later! <3" she said into its ear before jumping back and falling through the trees to land in front of the little group.

"Hay guy! Ready to get these humans all healed up?" She questioned as she pulled out her dagger and began to swing it lazily between her fingers just to give them a little scare. Though her dagger could be used to reanimate the dead, it could also heal wounds and other nifty things.
