Personality
Kenny is something of a typical party girl with a bit of a twist. For the most part, she loves having a good time and hates whenever things get serious. She normally tries to make a joke out of any and every situation -be it a trivial matter or a very serious situation. In sad or frustrating times, Kenny usually just hides her true feels behind a mask of happiness, putting on a smile and cracking a sarcastic joke. Sarcasm is a sort of defensive mechanism to keep people from seeing Kenny's true emotions. There are only a few people that have ever seen Kenny cry and those are the people that she trusts the most. Although she is cheeky and fun-loving around just about everyone that she meets, Kenny tries not to get too close to anyone. She likes to keep people at arms length and if you were to ask her why, she would most likely just shrug and say something along the lines of, "Why get close with someone who's just going to leave?" In any case, having just about no family left, the only people that Kenny truly trusts are the Bullets and she is faithful, dedicated, and the epitome of loyal to them.

True to her party girl nature, Kenny has a very laid-back attitude and normally gives off an air of uninterested to anything that she deems "boring". Among the only things that she actually gets excited about are food, drinking, traveling, and planning out strategies for the gang. Most things that do not fall under one of the aforementioned categories are greeted with a strong look of boredom and disinterest. In truth, Kenny does love to learn new things; however, she has to keep up the persona, so she feels the need to constantly look uninterested unless the situation has to do with one of her expertise.

Though she may acts it at times, Kenny is far from ignorant and anyone who has known her for more than a few minutes can tell that her mind is constantly at work. She has a photographic memory, making it easy for her to learn new skills. This is great when she needs to memorize blueprints, maps, or complex tactics; however, Kenny sees this amazing memory as more of a curse than a gift. When she was younger, she used to get migraines from what seemed to be an overload in her brain. In addition, she would often have trouble sleeping at night due to the fact that her mind was constantly at work. This may be why she started drinking at such a young age. Drinking helped to put her to sleep and it was a time that she could finally forget something. She has since stopped drinking as much as she used to and the migraines are more frequent now. However, she has less trouble falling asleep as it seems that she is slowly gaining the ability to control the ceaseless activity of her mind.

Kenny does not drink constantly as she used to in her younger years, but the problem is that when she starts she normally drinks far too much. It's not that she can't handle her liquor -in fact, after years of drinking she is quite good with alcohol. It's just that this amount of alcohol in such a small person is dangerous for her health. Kenny knows this -has always known it- and recently she has been trying to bring down her alcohol intake by simply not partying as much. However, this is easier said than done for Kenny whose partying has become something of a habit. And, to add insult to injury, she has not told anyone about this problem of hers. Some people that know her well -a few members of the gang- are able to see this problem of hers, but if asked, Kenny's sarcastic defensive wall comes up and she will simply turn the problem into a joke.

Kenny is the type of girl that acts like a fun-loving, ignorant party girl. However, behind her facade of naivety, she is actually an extremely intelligent, loyal girl who just likes to have fun on occasion -more than one occasion that is. She only acts excited when the subject is partying or strategies and she only ever acts completely serious when she sees that someone she is loyal to has been hurt in some way. Kenny may not look or act like the most intimidating girl, but her mind and her strong sense of loyalty makes her a force to be reckoned with.

History
Kenny was born in New York City to only her mother and a possibly-half-brother, Patrick Vela, who was three years her elder. Kenny never really cared much for her mother. She was an drug-abusing alcoholic who completely neglected her children after Patrick turned seven and was deemed "old enough". So, he essentially raised Kenny from the age of four. Their mother, being a very sexually active woman, did not know who the father was of either of her children, so there was no one to pay child support and perhaps even more importantly, there was no one to act as a parent figure to the two children.

Patrick and Kenny went through a majority of public schools sticking close together as much as they could. The two often felt alienated from the group of public school children. While the other kids were mean and seemed angry all of the time, the Vela children had somehow picked up nice mannerisms and social etiquette and, to this day, it remains a mystery as to where the two siblings learned these things. In any case, the two felt left out in the social groups, so their bond grew even stronger. From an early age, Kenny and Patrick were "master" thieves. With their mother working at a supermarket and making very little -not like she would ever give them a cent- it was hard for them to pay for necessities, much less small items of pleasure that they saw. So, they had to learn how to shoplift without getting caught and eventually, they learned how to pick pockets. At this young age, Kenny also must have picked up her love for making plans and tactics. Even at the age of six or seven, Kenny was creating complex plans as to how she and her brother could shoplift the most food without getting caught.

When Kenny was ten and Patrick was thirteen, their mother finally left. The rift between the mother and her children had become so wide that the kids had not even realized that she was gone until a full week had passed. Patrick finally looked in the drawer that he knew she kept her meager earnings and a stash of prescription pain pills and found that it was completely empty. It was normal for her to leave for a few days -even weeks- at a time; however, she always kept some sort of cash and/or drugs in the house just in case she was in need of them quickly. So, when that special drawer turned up empty, the children knew that she was gone. Although one might expect for the siblings to not care at all about a mother that didn't care about them, the two were actually quite distraught by the event. It is true that their mother paid them no mind, but in some way it felt safer for them when they had a parent figure rather than when they had none. With her gone, they became just two, small, lost, and vulnerable kids.

For about a year after their mother's leaving, Kenny and Patrick stayed in the crappy New York apartment. As tradition, their mother had always left the rent money out on the coffee table at the beginning of the month and told Patrick to get it to the landlord. So, the landlord did not question when Patrick continued to hand him the money. Now, Kenny and Patrick had to start stealing twice as much in order to live. Being only eleven and fourteen years old, neither of them could get a job that would pay much, so most groceries had to be stolen. It was around this time that Grant Richards began his taking over of the world, but Kenny and Patrick were so out of touch with the world that they paid the news little mind aside from when they passed the TV store on the street.

Their attempt to live out life normally went on for the next year until child services came around to their place. Kenny and Patrick never found out who called them of whether is was just random, but they both knew that they would be sent to an orphanage and they would inevitably be separated. So, the two essentially went into hiding. For about two years -"two years too many," Kenny says-, they lived in alleys with a group of street rats. These hoodlums were horrible teenagers and young adults who tried to take advantage of Kenny and Patrick. Kenny being extremely intelligent knew not to trust a single one of them; however, Patrick had fallen in love with one of the girls in the group, Angelica, or just Angie as most called her. In some ways, Kenny could see the beauty that Patrick had fallen for, but Kenny could also see the false love that she gave back to Patrick and the way that she toyed with his heart. For almost the entirety of those two years that Kenny and Patrick lived with the group of alley rats, Kenny attempted futilely to tell Patrick that Angie was no good for him. However, these conversations only ever led to Patrick getting angry and telling Kenny that she was just mad about how they were not as close anymore.

Over the course of those two years, Patrick slowly became closer to the group and Kenny slowly grew further away from her brother. It wasn't until one cold winter day that Patrick finally came to his senses. Patrick had been told by the leader of the group that he was needed for a job where he would be robbing the penthouse suite of some wealthy man. Patrick, thinking himself the "master" thief as he always had, took the job. Kenny did not hear about this escapade until the next morning when Patrick came looking for her, looking frantic and shaken. Apparently, the job had been a set up by both the leader of the group and Angie. The suite had been owned by non other than Grant Richards's closest friend. The past two years of fake love and false friendships had been a lie and now he was a wanted man. Both Patrick and Kenny knew that he had to get far away from the city and Kenny wanted desperately to go with him. However, he denied her request saying only that he could not bare to drag her into his own mess when she was the one that had told him to get out of it so many times. He apologized a number of times and they clung to each other like life depended on it, but eventually he had to leave. Kenny has not seen her brother since.

Kenny was only fourteen when that happened and for a short period of about three weeks she wandered the streets, lonely and depressed and with little will to go on. At one point, she must have caught the flu from being in the cold for three weeks, but Kenny cannot remember. She had passed out from fever in an alleyway when a member of the Bullets found her. She was brought to their living space where she was given care until she got well enough to tell them her story. Pitying her, the leader of the gang at the time offered her a chance to become a member. She accepted with gratefulness, humbleness, and happiness and set to work showing them what she was able to do. Soon, the Bullets realized that not only was she a poor, homeless teenager in need of a improvised family, but they also realized that Kenny was something of a genius.

Since that very day that the Bullets offered her a chance to essentially start over, Kenny has been trying with her entire soul to give them back what they gave her. She always pays some sort of respect to any member that was there before her and she never turns her back on any order of the gang no matter how much she disagrees. She sees the Bullets as something of a family since she knows not whether any of her family members are still alive and in any case, the only one she would ever want to see would be her brother. So, she trusts the other members of the gang and protects the ideas and people of the gang with everything she has.

Cage The Elephant - Ain't No Rest For The Wicked
I was walkin' down the street
When out the corner of my eye
I saw a pretty little thing approaching me

She said I never seen a man
Who looked so all alone
Oh could you use a little company

And if you pay the right price
Your evening will be nice
You can go and send me on my way

I said you're such a sweet young thing
Why do you do this to yourself?
She looked at me and this is what she said

[Chorus:]
There ain't no rest for the wicked
Money don't grow on trees
I got bills to pay
I got mouths to feed
Ain't nothing in this world for free
No I can't slow down
I can't hold back
Though you know I wish I could
No there ain't no rest for the wicked
Until we close our eyes for good

Not even 15 minutes later
I'm still walkin' down the street
When I saw the shadow of a man creep out of sight
And then he swept up from behind
He put a gun up to my head
He made it clear he wasn't lookin' for a fight

He said give me all you got
I want your money not your life
But if you try to make a move I won't think twice

I told him you can have my cash
But first you know I gotta ask
What made you want to live this kind of life?

[Chorus]

Well now a couple hours passed
And I was sitting in my house
The day was winding down and coming
To an end

So I turned to the TV
And flipped it over to the news
And what I saw I almost couldn't
Comprehend

I saw a preacher man in cuffs
He'd taken money from the church
He'd stuff his bank account with righteous
Dollar bills

But even still I can't say much
Because I know we're all the same
Oh yes we all seek out to satisfy those thrills

So begins...
