    Strengths & Weaknesses
optimistic | determined to see the best in everything,
Claudia tries her best to appreciate the world and its
people. She is quick to try and turn a situation around
when things go wrong. x good listener | since she
doesn't like to talk about herself, Claudia is eager to listen
to anything people will have to say. She views each person
as an opportunity to learn something new.x tactful | knows
just what to say to people. Never aggressive, but knows how
    to get her viewpoint across.

insecure | She is afraid to be an annoyance to people,
and afraid to give too much of herself to others. She lacks
confidence in herself and her music. x idealistic | her optimism can
easily be interpreted as stark idealism. She is quick to completely
ignore bad things because of their nature. This often causes
people to view her as immature or naïve. clumsy | her
quick movements often lead to self-injury, or injury of others.
She is not to be trusted with fragile objects either.

    Miscellaneous
absolutely obsessed with latin american writing | really good at

too good for this world | likes to dry flowers |
almost never takes off her wristwatch | gets really nervous
if anyone has a camera | bites her nails when bored or concerned |
scared of heights | avoids Jell-O because the wobbly gelatin makes
her nervous | comfort over style |

"To stop the flow of music would
be like the stopping of time itself,
    incredible and inconceivable."

    efflorescence - to flower out

and she moves among the sparrows
and she floats upon the breeze
    she moves among the flowers
she moves something deep inside of me
in the end it is beauty
that is going to save the world

    BUT IS IT ME?

If you stare deeply into her grassy eyes, you might see her mildly bemused curiosity under her eyelids. A girlish grin follows suit, though you may feel like something is off , something hidden away inside of her that you cannot quite reach, like a word on the tip of your tongue. Just like that, it is gone in an instant, leaving you wondering 'what exactly is that girl trying to hide?' Claudia has always hidden things away, pushed emotions and thoughts and feelings so deep inside that she hardly can remember that they are there. When she is forced to recall that these things exist, it is a side of her that almost no one ever sees in person. She presents it in her music. An extraordinary grandeur, an exquisite delicacy, a prophetic severity, a ferocious rage, a sharp bite, a prickly snap, a mystical suspension, a wounding stab, an agonized howl...none of these things are what come to mind when someone sees her for the first time. There is that side of her though, shown through others by the sound she creates.

Claudia was raised in a small city in Thailand to an American father and Thai mother. Being the youngest in the family, she was often pushed around by her four other siblings. She had to learn to speak up for what she wanted. Of course, without being too pushy as to avoid punishment. It did not take long for her to develop a certain charm, more charismatic than the average child. Her mother taught her good lessons. Humility, optimism, kindness...to always look at the bright side and not waste energy on situations she could not change, and not to waste a breath on people who did not deserve it.

Her family moved from Thailand to the United States when she was about six years old. Almost instantly she fell in love with the city spirit and skyline. She was exposed to music at a young age thanks to her mother and older siblings, all of whom wrote and performed for each other. She was taught piano by her older sister, and eventually began to take lessons. Her life was never that difficult, and though there were occasional hardships, her life was not plagued by sickness or misfortune, unlike some others. Claudia never took this luck for granted though. She was always humble and appreciative of other people, no matter where they came from or what their story was.

She grew her own odd habits over time. Though she was calm and collected, always tactful and careful with her words, this extended to her vision of herself. She was often teased as a child for her crooked teeth, freckled face, and her messy mop of hair. Claudia was never a very cute child, and often her parents joked that she was an "ugly duckling". Though she began to grow into her awkward body, the remarks still did damage to her self-esteem. She has always questioned her own feelings on certain matters, and shut herself away from people so they could not damage her. Though she likes to believe in the good of people and revel in human nature and the beauty found within it, she thought it best not to burden others with her own feelings. This was to protect herself, but also out of a fear that she would only be an annoyance to others.

She forgot to take care of herself. Her whole life she had been taught to be kind to others, give money, give time, give love to anyone she could. Then suddenly she was supposed to put her life first. It was a foreign concept to her, and made it difficult on her journey into the musical world. When she decided to become a composer at the age of fifteen, she struggled with other people taking advantage of her kindness. Put simply, she was an absolute doormat. She took music theory classes at her university. Other students walked all over her, and Claudia found it nearly impossible to stand up for herself and get her thoughts across.

She was forced to adapt and change herself to this new revelation about human nature. Rather than changing to accept the bit of darkness found within people, she found solace in her idealistic policies and ideas, preferring to view people with rose-tinted glasses rather than a clear, honest vision. Her emotions burrowed even deeper inside of her. Claudia could not find herself flinching when someone close to her died, or being overcome with joy when her pieces began to achieve success. Never excited or sad, Claudia was able to retain her charisma and easy-going conversation with people, but mostly through the fact that she was the perfect audience. Always listening, never wanting to talk about herself, and always curious about the lives of others.

While the Copland centuries ago was not the sort for pandering to audiences or caring too much about what people thought, Claudia has not found a way to get past that. She blames herself for so many of her problems that she can't seem to solve. Her trust, her overwhelming idealism, her lack of confidence and self-esteem. She is disappointed that she cannot seem to live up to the image she was created to imitate. She has not been brave enough to share her stories with the world by writing, and so, relies on music to divulge her greatest secrets, fears, and achievements.

Even close friends are amazed with her writing. What she composes does not seem to be a reflection of herself. Most are confused when they hear her fanfares and counterpoint-heavy tunes inspired by jazz and the life of the city. The spirit of her city, of herself, reveals itself in her music. Claudia has many friends to speak to, but never continues along the path of intimate relationships due to her fear of commitment and scaring people off.

Claudia is a woman of many friends, but few to reveal herself to. Her charming words seem laden with confidence and a sureness in herself, but knowing her a bit better than that reveals so much more. She is always hiding something, keeping her fears and emotions deep down within herself. She wants to speak with her music, send it out to the world and finally have people know who she is -- but she just has not found the strength to do so.
