        Description: . . .
Ayano styles her hair simply, letting the thick black strands fall straight to her shoulders, with a fringe ending just above her brows. Warm brown eyes don't flinch from making eye contact, and are usually outlined by subtle flicks of eyeliner and mascara. Ayano enjoys wearing makeup, favours cat eye eyeliner on her upper lid and a dark or red lipstick. It's usually simple additions in her day-to-day life, though she'll put in an extra effort for formal occasions. Her clothes, while not the height of fashion, always suit Aya's petite frame. In winter she'll layer up, wrap thick scarves around her neck and pull on cosy coats. In warm weather she'll be found in summer dresses or floaty skirts. Her outfits can be a touch eclectic at times, but she's not overly concerned about what other people think of her clothes. She wears what she likes. She doesn't have any tattoos, has a piercing in each ear, and is, so far, devoid of scars, though a few beauty marks decorate her skin. Aya does tend to wear a lot of jewellery, particularly rings and bracelets. She'll wear a black choker on occasion too, and she can be found wearing a pair of glasses whenever she's reading or in class.

Arcane magic: . . .Like all of Hecate's children, Aya is gifted in the arcane arts. She veers away from necromancy, not having a natural aptitude for raising the dead, and instead finds her particular talents in the casting of offensive and defensive spells. A decent memory helps Aya in her goal of perfecting her spells, as does being ambidextrous for the odd spells which require hand movements. She's fairly gifted with offensive magic, however it's defensive where she truly shines. Magical shields, arcane armour, and so forth come with much more ease than magical projectiles. In terms of healing magic, she only knows the basics so far; little spells for reversing minor cuts and bruises.

      Personality

Though Aya is the spitting image of her father, she shares her goddess mother's coy smile, the one that hints at knowledge of secrets you don't know; a hidden joke for her alone. Though, she'll let you in on the joke if you're friends, maybe even lean in to whisper it to you with an amused grin on her face if you're passing acquaintances too. Ayano is, overall, a friendly young woman. She'll easily converse with classmates and strangers if needed, while equally as happy to sit back among a group of friends and let the conversation wash over her instead. She has a witty humour, and enjoys subtle jokes more than low-brow toilet humour.

Aya doesn't feel the need to alter herself in order to gain her peers' approval, replies to any taunts thrown her way with a raise of her eyebrows and a smirk. She's strong when she wants to be, sure of who she is and revealing a quiet confidence in her own abilities. The demigod is fully capable of achieving her goals, and sets to meeting them with a patient determination and willingness to learn. Aya will ask for help when she needs it, offer advice in return if required. When she meets and surpasses her goals, Ayano isn't one to brag. Oh, she'll certainly smile in pleasure if praised by a teacher for her work, but rarely feels the need to shove her achievements in others' faces.

Hecate's daughter can be a bit too closed off at times. While she's outwardly friendly, it takes a while for Aya to truly open up to others. She'll keep her secrets close until she knows she can trust someone, dislikes sharing anything too personal without good reason. The rare few times she has shared something and come to regret it, Ayano has taken a while to forgive. She nurses her grudges, turns a cold shoulder on those who have wronged her in the past, and rarely gives them the opportunity to redeem themselves. She's perhaps a touch obstinate in that respect, unwilling to bend or acknowledge that someone might have changed.

A marked intelligence is also evident in the girl. Perhaps not in the same league as Athena's children, but obvious nonetheless. Aya's particular areas of interest are languages and history. Dead languages especially catch her attention, not least because all the best spells, in her opinion, are written in them. Though, she's also got a good handle on a few living languages too. Aya prefers quietly studying alone, she's surprisingly good at helping others learn. She'll happily set aside time to go over various subjects with a friend, taking on a patient, easy approach to the tutoring.

Artistic: . . . Ayano's eye for detail sees her relatively talented at art. She's good at drawing, both for fun and for her magic, and was overjoyed when her father gifted her an art tablet so she could improve her digital art.
Memory: . . . Aya has an excellent memory, particularly when it comes to learning spells and remembering incantations. She also has a knack for remembering obscure celebrity birthdays, oddly enough.
Ambidextrous: . . . when casting spells it helps that Ayano can use both hands equally for those that need hand movement. She doesn't favour one over the other, and seems to switch between them without thought.

Weaknesses

-

Physical combat: . . .Spells and strategy are more up Aya's alley than physical attacks. She's not particularly gifted with any sort of solid weapon; swords are too heavy and awkward in her hands, arrows only hit their targets when spelled, and unarmed combat is even worse.
Eyesight: . . . Aya's eyesight isn't perfect. She needs glasses to read, and finds it easier with the lenses when in class too. She's short-sighted, so she'll squint at blurry shapes in the distance and have to sit up front if she's forgotten her glasses in class.
Holds grudges: . . . It takes a while to get back into Aya's good books. She's not great at letting people in initially, so anyone who she's opened up to and then felt betrayed by, rarely gets another chance.

Researching old civilisations, it's fascinating learning about them. Secrets, who doesn't like knowing something other people don't. Dead languages, they have all the best spells. Sci-fi books, historical novels, her favourite genres. Magic, Aya loves the feel of it seeping from her fingers as she performs a spell. Witty jokes, the kind that make you think before laughing. Big scarves, she'll wrap them around her neck in winter and smile into the fabric. They're so cosy. Sketching, it's calming to settle down with paper and pen, or her art tablet, and sketch whatever comes to mind. Hugs, or cuddling up with friends when it's cold out.

Failure, Aya likes achieving her goals, not falling short. Being drunk, or rather, Aya dislikes not being in control of herself. Plus, the hangover that follows isn't ideal. Cross country, a big pass on that one. Toads, screw all that stuff about witches turning enemies into toads or frogs. Aya thinks they're gross. Her grandparents, there's a reason she and her father don't have much to do with them. Soda, too much sugar and she swears she can feel it rotting her teeth. Cold feet, anything but! Especially bad when it's someone else's cold feet touching hers. She'll hex you for that.

Doodles, usually in the margins of her school books, but will also draw on a friend's arm if particularly bored. Hums to herself, usually only when alone and studying, or making something to eat. Plays with her food, usually by making faces of her leftovers when she's finished eating.

      Relationship with Hecate

Ayano has always known why her mother was unable to be constantly present in her life, and so she's been able to accept from a young age the different relationship she has with Hecate compared to those with normal mothers. Hecate has left the odd gift for Aya as she's grown, and lets Ayano know with small signs that she's there. Even when she's not physically there. Aya doesn't need or expect much more.

      History

Ayano's grandparents moved to the Netherlands when Aya's father, Akihiro, was a boy. Though they didn't know the language, they made a life for themselves there and brought up their son with the best of intentions. Hiro almost ruined all of that by falling for the mysterious woman that pulled him from the logical world of medicine and into the arcane. Their affair was brief, though Hiro's love was strong enough that he declared himself willing to marry Hecate despite his parents' disagreement. Hiro was young though, naive to the fact that Hecate was never a woman capable of remaining in one place. She left him heartbroken, returning later to give him his new daughter.

Too young to know how to raise Ayano himself, Hiro returned to his parents for help. They pushed him back into medical school, and set strict rules that would ensure Hiro's daughter turned out exactly how they wanted her to. Ayano's childhood was spent moving from the strict law of her grandparents' home to the rules of school. Despite this, she was an optimistic child, laughing easily whenever her father took her into the hospital and made balloon animals from the plastic gloves. Eventually, he bought his own house and the pair moved out of Aya's grandparents' home, though they remained close enough that visits were regular.

As she grew older Aya began to realise what a toll her grandparents' rules and regulations had taken on their father. Though an adult, he still nodded demurely whenever correct by his parents. The only thing he refused them was keeping Aya's mother a secret. He knew Hecate's origin, and though Aya hadn't always believed his story, had once thought the small gifts that would randomly appear in doorways or on window sills were from him, when Hecate finally appeared on her 11th birthday, it didn't take much for Aya to believe.

Eventually, a brochure for Legacy Academy appeared in a doorway, and within a year Aya was at the school for demigods. This year she's entering the Agon, not because she's dedicated to winning, but rather because she's curious to see how far her skills might take her. Who knows what will happen?

Mari loved parties. Especially demigod parties. You could count on all of the talents, all mashed together to create a damn good jam. She found herself comfortable within the writhing mass of sweaty kids, probably doing the things their parent's have nightmares about. Even with her small stature it's not hard to notice the wild child of Demeter bopping along amiss the crowd. From her elegant, yet risquΓ© dancing to the flowers that bloomed at her feet with every step she took. She couldn't help it, her control almost gets lost when she dances. It's certainly a strange sight. She couldn't count the mass of boys and girls that found themselves promptly trying to butt their way into her jam session, least to say none of them were successful. Most of them made it out with an eye roll but other's weren't so lucky.

After a while of dancing she couldn't help but feel a bit lonely. Normally she was surrounded by her friends, but Mari had gotten to the party quite early, and hadn't seen anyone she knew fairly well yet. The task of leaving the dance circle is a lot harder than it looks, but it wasn't too much of a problem for her. "Excuse me! Fuck out of my way please, thank you" She got a few annoyed glances here and there but there wasn't anything more relieving than escaping the circle.

Her eyes scanned the crowd of demigods some of them she knew. She saw Jace and Blake arguing, Quin near the edge by Ellis, and finally her eyes landed on a dazed Ryan holding two drinks standing next to the notorious, Abby Jarvis. She weaved her way over to Ryan snatching one of the drinks out of his hand and downing it in a matter of seconds. "Thank you, it's hot as hell in that dance circle" she commented placing the empty cup back in his hands and giving him an impish smile. It didn't take much inference from the second drink and disappointed look in his eyes to know what happened. "It's always 'the one that got away' from you isn't it, Ryan you really got to step up your fucking game". She gave him a glance over and raised a curt eyebrow, "Need a wing man?

Ben hated parties. Especially demigod parties. He would even be here if it hadn't been for Aya begging him to attend. Not only was he completely awkward around people in general, but parties were practically hell. He'd rather die in Agon than be in this gods-forsaken hole of intoxicated and horny demigods. Thankfully, it didn't take long to escape his half-sister's clutches when she became distracted in the entertainment, and he soon found himself near the edge of the chaos. Unfortunately, there were still a few party goers scattered around, the majority of them students making out in the darker corners. He tapped his finger nervously against his thigh in an attempt to calm his nerves, which were going a mile a minute. He hadn't been to a party in, well never.

His eyes scanned the vast field of demigods seeing a couple he knew but, being sociable wasn't exactly his favorite thing. His best bet was to escape entirely but Aya would've been unbelievably pissed at him which is something he did not want to see. After minutes of wandering around he happened upon, a bench, vacant bench. Thank you Hecate. Ben wasn't entirely sure if the blessing had been his mothers, but better safe than sorry.

To pass the time he aimlessly tapped his fingers on the bench, watching the demigods have fun. It wasn't that he was disgusted at the 'idea' of fun, rather that his definition meant writing or being by himself. However, he would do anything to make his sister happy, which involved brainstorming some miraculous story of his 'great night' at the party when she eventually found him. She'd definitely see right through his façade but maybe his attempt at trying would be good enough for her.

His mind eventually wandered toward thoughts of Agon. Tomorrow. He had no idea how he landed himself on a team, but he wouldn't question it. This was the one thing that he actually felt, well okay about. Of course there were the definitive ideas of 'certain death' but the idea of Agon seemed enticing to Ben.

"Why aren't you at the party, Little one?" The voice startled Layla into dropping her sword. It clattered to the training floor with a sound that echoed loudly. Layla took a breath as she kneeled down and grabbed the blade, her hands were shaking from overwork."Mother, please don't do that," She said softly. "I appreciate your work ethic, Layla, but if you'll burn yourself out if you continue at this rate." Athena told her, her voice echoing in her mind like the sword's clatter did the room. Layla was used to it though, it had been there her entire life, for the longest though, she thought it was her own voice, an inner voice, or a conscious like Jiminy Cricket, but it had turned out to be her mother, a goddess. Layla wasn't sure about how she truly felt about being left with the family that she was left with, considering that bickered like school children, but her home wasn't a bad one, at least not directly related to her, they loved her for all their faults, but still. They're constant bickering nearly killed her and while she never thought about leaving them for fear that she was the only thing keeping from killing each other, knowing that she had another option, a whole world she didn't know about, she didn't really give it a second thought but that presented new challenges, she wasn't the only one, and she had to be the best of her kind. She still wasn't sure about what this truly was about, beyond Godly pride, which it was most definitely, but there was something else at play here, that the Gods weren't telling them, but her mother seemed to care, since she'd been there her whole life, a face in the crowd, a voice in her head, keeping her safe, from a distance. So she couldn't complain too much. Some of these demi-gods had it much worse.

"Mother," Layla said, unafraid of talking to herself since she was alone in the training hall, what with the school at this party. "Why now?" She asked. Athena was characteristically quiet. "You only chose to make your present known to me, but a year ago, is it truly because of the accident or...is there more?"

"There is more." Athena said. "However, the accident proved motivation, for the both of us." She said and Layla nodded. Her mother never lied to her, not once, but that didn't make her feel better. "You wouldn't have shown yourself to me, otherwise, would you have?" She asked and after a long pause, Athena sighed, which was a strange sound in her head. "Suffice it to say, Little One, I was in a place of indecision, now I am not." She said and Layla nodded. "That's how I feel about this party," Layla said not wanting to think about what would have happened had she not been in the accident. And to think she thought that day was the worst of her lief...now she wasn't so sure. Was it bad luck, or providence?. "Why's that?" Athena asked. "We are expected to party like Dionysius, and then proceed to fight one another, and for what? Your favor, but why do you need to do this for your favor, don’t we already have it?"[/olor] Layla said and Athena chuckled. "You have mine, but this is tradition, moreover, there is the 'more' I referred to, and not so many of the Gods appreciate their children like I do." [/i] She said and Layla nodded, she could hear the smile in her voice. "That's not for you to worry about now, Little one, clean yourself up, dress nicely, and enjoy this time you have as normal teenagers." She said and Layla sighed. That was all she was going to get from that conversation. [color=#054357]"Yes, Mother," She said and with that, she did as she was told, and got cleaned up, and dressed in a lovely little black dress, that hugged her Olympian curves. She had no idea what she was doing here to be entirely honest, parties weren't her scene at all, she didn't listen to this type of music, nor did she appreciate the way that strobe lights and fog laid waste to her vision. She smiled as she entered though. She had to be a normal teenager, that's what her mother wanted, for one night that she was not a demi-goddess, fighting for the right to be beside her mother, but a teenager invited to an unsanctioned, unofficial party for school. "What am I doing here?" She asked herself as she skimmed the crowd for a familiar face.
