- Personality
Shy isn't exactly the right descriptor though, for Ellis doesn't mumble meekly at the ground, nor does he lack the courage to speak with others. Most of the time, he just doesn't want to. Sure, he may get a bit tongue-tied when face to face with a crush, but he's fully capable of eloquent speak. Most often he'll respond with a nod or grunt, a quick word in answer if he must. It's only when he's frustrated and irritated that he'll resort to sarcasm; sneering insults that flow freely where other words stall.
Luckily, Ellis isn't quick to anger. It takes a lot to break through the calm demeanor he inherited from his godly father. He's also patient and largely accepting of anyone who he thinks is at least trying to be a good person. Most often it's arrogance that offends Ellis most, even if it's confidence that attracts him to people too. He'll let some cutting comment roll off his tongue if some idiot's being loud in the library, or being remarkably ignorant when he's trying to study.
He's been called proud at times too, something not helped by his disinterest in talking to some people. Yet, Ellis isn't too proud to accept his faults and apologise if the situation calls for it. He's fair in that respect; always knows when he's been honestly beat and usually admits as much. With his few friends, he's still quiet, but more likely to crack a smile or sit close while they watch a movie. He's not easy to get to know, but Ellis is a good friend once there.

. .. Strengths
-
-
Shadows: . . . He takes comfort in wrapping shadows around his slim frame and manipulates the darkness better than he communes with the dead.
Good fortune: . . . A lucky inheritance from his birth father, Ellis has a knack of landing on his feet and seems to find more than his fair share of lost change.
Patient: . . . Ellis is something of a perfectionist with his school work, so it helps that he's patient enough to iron out every detail needed to get an assignment just right. He's good at waiting too, doesn't feel the pressing need to always be doing something that some feel.
. .. Weaknesses
-
-
Physical prowess: . . . Ellis is hardly the most physically intimidating demigod around. He's not particularly gifted with weapons, nor does he have the inherent strength needed to make up for his lack of coordination in the combat area.
Heights: . . . Ellis happens to be scared of them, gets nervous atop tall buildings, and clings to anyone nearby if anywhere near a big drop.

- Relationship with Hades
- History
The family of four settled into the USA easily enough, though Ellis' quietness at school became more pronounced as odd happenings increased in frequency. Since he was a child, he'd always been able to hear voices others couldn't. His parents had put it down to imaginary friends, had never understood why he cried and refused to enter cemeteries. When he was younger, the dead had scared him, though unlike other kids, the darkness never had. He kept the 'skill' a secret, kept to himself at school rather than share his experiences with the other kids. He'd told one friend in Scotland, who had promptly called him a liar and ran off.
He was thirteen when he took a detour home and stumbled upon a doorway to the underworld. Hades met him there, explained in patient terms who he was, and walked Ellis home with a steady hand on his back. Hades spoke with Ellis' parents, suggested that Ellis should be sent to Legacy where he would be among other children of the gods. His parents were reluctant at first, but eventually Ellis found himself enrolled in the Academy. Now, four years later, he's readying for his first Agon. He's not sure why he let himself be talked into taking part, gods know he's not great at team work.
