APPEARANCE:
Wes is a man of classic, if expensive, tastes. Nothing feels quite like a well-tailored suit, and it is his look of choice whenever appropriate. That is not to say, that he turns his nose up at sportswear or other more casual clothing, but they are always well made, and usually custom. The fact that his mother is something of an icon in the New York fashion industry, has helped to mold his tastes somewhat, and he tends to favor the modern aesthetic preferences for minimalist clean lines and metallic undertones. It has also secured his connection to a never ending parade of up-and-coming designers eager to get into his motherâs good graces, and Wes has never been shy about pressing that advantage. Whatever he's wearing, Wes is always well dressed, and designed to impress.
Possessive â Indulgent â Lonely
Highly intelligent, calculating, and manipulative tend to be words most commonly used to describe Wesleyâs personality, and he is in fact, all of those things. He is also, innately protective and possessive of those he considers his, whether in a romantic, familial, or friendship type of role. His own code of morality is definitely skewed from the norm, but he generally keeps to his code. Wes can be an antagonizing dick at times with people, but he doesnât normally go out of his way to do lasting harm without purpose. If there is profit in the downfall of another student, Wes is a happy to give a push, or better yet, subtly nudge someone else into doing it for him. Thatâs just business. Personal matters are where Wes is the most lethal. If you wind up on Wesleyâs shit list, be prepared for merciless physical and psychological warfare, and piquing his interest can be almost as dangerous. Wes doesnât take no for an answer, and has a very Machiavellian outlook regarding interpersonal relationships. One way or another, carrot or the stick, if Wes decides he wants someone in his circle, theyâll find their way there.
Wes tends to be wrapped up in his own head more often than not, keeping his attention and concern on himself and those in his circle. Wesley is also a consummate womanizer, generally picking women to pursue who he feels to be a challenge or puzzle to be solved. Skilled at seduction, but also an immense control freak, Wes can get very intense and even manipulative when perusing relationships, regardless of whether he covets romance or friendship. Generally, his personality tends to be situational. Wesley is capable of insanely vicious acts towards others when he thinkâs theyâve warranted his wrath, and in the same stroke he is capable of great compassion and generosity towards those he cares about. Mostly, it depends on who you are to Wesley for which face youâll see.
Wesley Tate is the son of sole heiress and highly successful business woman Vivienne Tate, of the New York Tates. The Tate name in New York has been synonymous with Fashion and European imports for over a century, and they came from old English money even before that. Vivienne Tate however, a great-granddaughter of Athena herself, is known for her popular perfume line, and rumored mob connections. Wesleyâs stepfather, Alexi Kuzmich, is rumored to be a boss within the complicated structure of the Russian mafia, though this is officially unproven. Either way, Wesley has found it more useful to neither confirm, nor deny the rumors. Alexi was not unkind towards Wesley growing up, as he was already three when he married Wesleyâs mother, though he can be a bit distant. So with both of his parental figures constantly engaged with their own business, Wesley was mostly raised by his nanny Carla until he was twelve. Wesley was extremely attached to her, as she was almost like a mother in his mind, and she was the first to instill in him a love of languages. She was also the one who taught him how to paint, and it is to this day a calming activity he engages in privately. Wesley first connected with his demigod powers because of Carla as well, because when she died, twelve year old Wesley couldnât deal with it. New York experienced inexplicable earthquakes, and every light on the street seemed to go out at the same time, cloaking their entire block in dreary darkness.
Vivienne was smart enough to call in Hades at that point, and for the first time Wesley came face-to-face with his real father. He was nothing like the Hades character heâd seen in movies, and was somewhat surprised to find himself dealing with an incredibly mellow and patient man. Hades offered to take Wesley to the Underworld for a while, and Wesley agreed, if only because of the promise of seeing Carla again. While the initial meeting with Carla helped put him at peace with her passing, Wesley also learned some truths he was not fond of. In the Underworld, most mortals wound up in the Asphodel Meadows, and while peaceful, peopleâs souls also tend to fade, losing more and more of the distinctive memories that made them who they were. This process takes a while, but it was still unsettling to Wesley, his security net of never losing someone he loved being once again ripped away. From there he dabbled in Necromancy, throwing himself into the arcane studies. This however, proved to be an even more imperfect solution than visiting the underworld, as those he brought back were merely mindless shells with only vague echoes of their former personalities. After those failures, Wesley tried to focus a bit more on the living, seeking out his siblings and attempting to have a mostly normal school life, if high up on the social spectrum. He was often on the party scene, as Wesley knows how to have a good time when heâs willing to indulge, especially in women, though he is himself, a picky drinker. His decision to go to Legacy Academy was to be closer to his siblings, but also to challenge himself. Human life can be exceptionally boring, and after his first year of high school, Wes didnât really think there was anything left for him to learn there. He is also hopeful about expanding the boundaries of his power. Though his relationship with Hades is comparatively good, Wesley knows his godly father is only able to help him learn so much, as Hadesâ unusually close relationships with his children puts him under increased scrutiny by the other gods. He is, like many of his siblings, very protective of his misunderstood godly father, and few things can gain his ire more quickly than speaking ill of him.

TEAM ROLE:
Brain
RELATIONSHIP WITH GODLY PARENT:
Wes is currently on fairly good terms with his father, as they have a kind of understanding that suits both their personalities. Hades is not a cold father, but a god's time is precious and cannot be spent on merely one mortal. Wesley is quite used to workaholic parents, and has come to find this scenario no different.
HOBBIES:
-Chess
-Playing the Stock Market
-Arcane Studies
AMBITIONS:
Wesley is a man on a mission, determined to build an empire for himself. Wes could never see himself working as a pawn to further the ends of another powerful demigod, and is determined to establish an independent power base for himself, filled with the best and brightest young demigods Legacy has to offer. Failure is not an option, and Wes will play every dirty trick in the book necessary to win.
FEARS:
*Being Alone: Wesley will never really admit to being afraid of anything, though ironically, being alone is something he has always subconsciously feared. Perhaps this is because he felt so isolated from others as a child due to the nature of the Tate Family status in New York society. This does not mean that he constantly feels a need for companionship exactly, but lack of recognition or attention when he wants it makes him irritable, and he is willing to go to some extreme lengths to get it.
*Large Bodies of Water: While not afraid exactly, heâs not a strong swimmer and Wes knows this. Therefore, it is only logical that being in bodies of water larger than a swimming pool, would make him wary.
*The Asphodel Meadows: Losing people he is attached to is something he also subconsciously fears, whether through them leaving or death as necromancy can only do so much. The dead are forever changed by Hades, always mere shadows of their living selves, a fate he privately finds disturbing.
STRENGTHS
Geokenisis: Wes is able to create ground tremors that work quite well defensively, and even offensively in the right circumstances.
Strategic Mind: Wesleyâs biggest contribution to the team, is his ability to view the field as a chess board. Puzzles are his forte, and as one of the top academic students, coupled with his general ruthlessness when pursuing goals, he is a formidable contender.
Arcane Magic/Necromancy: Wes has always had an interest in Arcane magic, and has studied it diligently even before becoming a student at Legacy Academy. While he canât use magic offensively the same way a child of Hecate might, he still has an intense background knowledge of it, and is quite skilled in the use of necromancy.
WEAKNESSES
Physical Combat: While Wes isnât weak by human standards, he canât compare with the inhuman strength of most demigods in the Brawn category. Wes is capable of defending himself with a blade if needed, but he is no great swordsman and even worse with a bow. In one on one combat, he is easily overpowered.
Swimming: Wes is not a good swimmer, and has a slight phobia of being in water much larger than a pool. If a challenge require him to be in water, he likely wouldnât fair well.
Pride: While Wes is a talented strategist and manipulator, his pride can make him overlook flaws in his own logic, or the value in the opinions of others.
