|Scars? Markings? Tattoos? Piercings?|
She has her fair share of markings and tattoos around her body. She does not have any piercings whatsoever, seeing that she sees it as a safety hazard when she's doing sports. She had a couple of scars mostly from basketball and lacrosse games where things got out of hand. She has a large scar on the back of her right leg from a incident that happened during her sophomore year and a faint scar on her left cheek from be struck in the face with a lacrosse stick on 'accident'. But, she does have a fair share of tattoos since turning eighteen last Halloween. She has one on her inner right forearm of a quote by Lou Holtz which is "Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it." She has another tattoo under her right breast. Her newest tattoo is of two dates; the day she was born and around the day she is assumed to die. {Oct. 31st 1994-Sep.29th 2021}

Lacey wasn't born into the high class family people believe her to be in. She was born to a sixteen year old girl named Monica Giselle Carter who lived in the Bronx, New York. Growing up was always hard from the girl's large family, her mother and father had both be unfaithful to one another leading them to have numerous children outside of their own marriage. But, they loved each other and loved their children from the both of them. They always wanted their children, no matter who they came from, they pushed them to go to college or to the military, which all of them did. Seeing that Monica's parents refused to let their children be adults and stay at home. And, Monica, she was the one everyone knew was going to succeed in life, seeing that she was the one with all the singing talent in the family. It wasn't until she was a junior in high school when her life took a very... unexpected turn. While she was very intelligent in school, making the right life choices wasn't so easy.
She had met a man named Andre Jackson and while there was an age gap between them, they didn't care. They loved each other and had been together for almost two years before getting pregnant with their first daughter, Tatiana Alana Porter, or what she goes by now, Lacey 'The Rocket' Cartier-Porter. While she was unexpected, she was loved but, the couple knew they could care for her and Monica's parents refused to help their daughter in anyway shape or form. And, at first, they managed to get by just fine with Monica still being able to go to school while Andre would watch the baby or drop her off at his parents' house when he had to head to work.
But, then, their 2 month old baby stopped hearing when they spoke to her and decided to take her to the clinic just to make sure everything was okay. But, it was there where they learned that their child had developed Meningitis somehow which had made its way up to Lacey's ears, making her go complete deaf in both ears. And it was there that the couple had to make a decision, give her to a family that could provide for her much more than they could or let their daughter go her whole life having difficulties in everything she did in life. So, they chose to put her up with adoption but, sent her to a nicer orphanage where it was more likely for her to get the care she needed. It killed them giving her up, but they needed to chose what they felt was right and they didn't want to hold their child back anymore than she already would be seeing by the way and where she was raised. They kept in touch everyday to see if she was adopted that day, it didn't take long for a the high class Cartiers to come, wanting to help a special needs child to fall in love with Lacey.
In fact, the baby was only there for about two months before being adopted and brought home with them to their hometown of Odessa, Texas where they raised her as one of their own. They got her a cochlear implant during her second birthday and signed her up into regular school where she would be treated just as everyone else but, would have an hour a day to learn sign language so she could communicate with other deaf people she may meet later in life. She was always picked on in life but, it made it easier for her to get a backbone and realize that she would have to stick up for herself for now on.
The family had another daughter not long after and growing up, everything was perfect. She didn't feel any different from them, hell she could barely remember her real parents faces until her mom gave her a scrapbook Monica requested the future mother of her daughter to give to the girl when the adoptive mother felt just. And when she saw the faces of her real parents, she wanted to contact them and yea, it took a couple of months but, she finally was able to meet them and her younger sister in person for the first time. She had learned that Monica, as expected, become a rather famous singer and songwriter and moved their family to Los Angeles around the time Lace was six years old. When they left, they promised to visit often and send money to help Lacey out to help figure out what she wanted to do in life, whether she would follow in her birth family's footsteps and go into the more artistic side of things, or do what she was taught by her adoptive family and go to college, get a logical career, and get a nice paying job. Even as a young kid, this was on everyone's minds. When Lacey had turned 13 and found herself, once more moved to a new place in Georgia {Adoptive father's in the military}, she had found out that she had a love for all types of sports, gymnastics, soccer, shot-put mostly, but you name it and she could be at least decent enough to make the team. Except cheerleading, that was her type of sport. But, this is what Lacey chose to do, to get better and better in sports to show that Helen Keller could play sports too.
She stayed in Georgia until the summer before her sophomore year, when they decided to move her one more time before their father retired from the military and went back to his work in his small diamond company, which only helped the family make even a bigger name for themselves in their new city, not that people needed to know who they were. They either knew them as 'That Diamond family' or they knew of, their precious girl; Lacey 'The Rocket' Cartier-Porter seeing that she, even from a young age was expected to go into the Olympics for either hurdles/track or more, than anything shotput.
Being known as 'The Rocket' sure as hell helped make the girl more popular, not to mention she was one of those girls that girls hated because they thought she was sleeping around with all their boyfriends and crushes. Which was not the case but, that didn't help. It wasn't until she was a junior that the rumors finally stopped and people began to really like her. The next two years flew by and the girl had a choice to make, whether to take a chance in sports or go to college. So, she decided to sign up with a school. Schools all around the country wanted her from UCLA to Indiana University, Texas A&M to her father's school or Princeton, and of course her top four picks; University of Florida, University of Notre Dame, Stanford, and Duke University. She decided to sign with the University of Stanford, which was the best way to end her senior year. She graduated early, not too long ago just so she could get started quicker.
But, everything came to a stop at the beginning of February when her brother noticed that Lacey's throat and neck was swelling up. Seeing that, she was always getting infections they took her to the doctor, only to be sent to the Oncologist where they learned that Lacey was developing stage two thyroid cancer that was spread, for now at a rather slow rate with a five year survival rate of 71%. Which is why she got the tattoo, of the dates. She plans on getting it crossed out once that last day hits. This summer, her parents wanted her to rest up, no sports camp and no distractions. So, they sent her to the summer camp in order for her to be able to focus, relax, and rest up before she has to fly out to Stanford in August to start her freshmen year.
