Description

Name: Nathanial Gander

Gender: Male

Age: 27

Physical and Personal Description:
Nathanial (not shortened to Nathan, because although long names like Nathanial are silly and lead to unpleasant results such as being hung by one’s underwear from a coat hook or becoming close friends with the inside of a toilet bowl, it is Mr Gander’s firm belief that shortening a name is nothing more than inaccurate and to be frowned upon by clerks everywhere) is a quiet and restrained person, and this much is plain to see from the very first. Of an average height of 5’ 8”, Mr Gander makes sure that he is neat and organised in his appearance. His dark brown, slightly greying hair has the neatly cropped style of the kind of person who has the same approach to haircuts as he does to organising pencils – if it’s all in a straight line, it’s easier to manage and therefore, better. A pair of small rounded spectacles is perched upon the bridge of his abnormally straight nose, and enlarges his olive green eyes beyond their natural narrowness. His sharp features give him something of a rat like look to him, which when paired with his larger than average ears, and stick-like figure combine to create a somewhat unattractive countenance.

Mr Gander tends to wear a lot of white and grey. White shirts, grey suits – even black is too bold a colour for him, gaudy he says, presumptuous. The only black he wears is in the form of his shoes, polished and cleaned to a pristine shine. Even beyond these unflattering clothes, very little about Nathanial is flattering in the slightest – he is clean shaven, and constantly has the smell of aftershave about his person; his chest is covered with spindly hairs, but not enough so to be considered particularly masculine; his build is skinny and weedy, a lack of muscles as clear as the lack of flab.

Nathanial is well spoken, and always takes great care over his words, giving him a drawling and often highly irritating manner of speech, every word seeming to take an age to pass his lips, though by the time it leaves them it is so well formed that every syllable seems to fall as precisely as a surgeon’s blade. In addition to this, he has an incredibly unpleasant habit of clearing his throat of phlegm on a regular basis, even when it is unnecessary; meaning all conversation with him is interspersed with unpleasant hacks and snorts.

History

History:
Born to two doctors, from an early age play was discouraged and for the most part was replaced by avid reading and studying. From a young age, such structure was greeted welcomingly. Even if the young boy hadn’t cared very much to wet his feet or romp around the yard very much, there wasn’t much chance he would have given much inkling of a clue to his parents because of the fear that permeated person.

From an outsider’s perspective, Nathanial could be described as a “good” kid. After entering school, he seldom, if ever, found himself in trouble and, if anything happened at all it was because he had alerted any wrong doing to the proper authorities. This wasn’t very much of a problem until he turned 9, when he began becoming a popular victim of not only bullies, but anyone (leaving little exclusions) who found that they could force their will upon him. Accordingly, skinny since birth, he was home schooled until he went to a private high school. His parents had arranged for it and maintained that Nathanial retained his sanity by not buying into the doctrines espoused by the school, which also happened to be a very prestigious Catholic school. This was the only antagonistic speech he’d participated it, otherwise, his relationship with Christians, most people for that matter, was purely observational.
Many of his peers had happily had their childhood sectioned into play time, so when high school began, he found himself in classes populated by older people. He graduated early, went on to Northwestern University, where he later graduated with honors.

Nathanial has since bided his time honing in on common skills in order to make himself more sociable and, in a sense, better at his job, leaving him spouseless and childless as time has always run short. As he carries himself with dignity, he has come to find it improper to pursue romance on the job.

So begins...
