Introduction

***The following takes place in an alternate ending of Ocarina of Time

Link had failed to complete his destiny. In the final battle against Ganondorf, he was killed. The King of Evil, reveling in his triumph, believed that there was nothing that could stand in his way. But there was one group that dared to do so: the Sages. Having lost Hyrule's final hope, the Sages had no choice but to seal Ganondorf away without Link's help. They were successful... but it came at a price: the loss of Zelda, who had been struck down by one of Ganondorf's servants during the sealing ceremony. Because of the princess' death, not only did the line of the Royal Family decline, but the seal was not complete in its entirety since all of the Sages were needed to make a long-lasting seal.

Peace had returned to Hyrule... but the Sages knew it wouldn't last long. They knew that the seal wasn't strong enough to hold Ganondorf for over a hundred years. But they had bought the world time... time to prepare for his return. Twenty years have passed, and the Sages have been preparing their apprentices to take their places should something happen to them. They have also been looking for the reincarnations of Link and Zelda, as they would be key pieces in the upcoming battle.

But Ganondorf's followers are eager to make his return even sooner...

Isis had gotten to the village when the fires were burning it down. The people were all gone by that point, and shortly after it had started to rain. She used the rain to aid her in her water magic. She didn't know how much time had passed, but she was soaking wet and the fires were mostly out. She moved about the town, trying to find anyone alive to tell her what had happened here. She looked around, and soon saw someone standing on a house. "Hey, you there." She called. She was down a narrow alley and was pretty sure he couldn't see her just yet.

Isis came out into one of the paths that ran through the village and called to him again. "Hey sir, what is going on in this town?" She called out to him. She started climbing up the building with her staff hanging on her back by her hand made version of a (holster? back sheath?). She was then standing next to Salem. "What happened here? I arrived not too long ago. I haven't seen anyone and there were many fires before the rain started coming down." She looked at him.

Nerosef smirked at the girl, this was going to be too easy. "Foolish girl, you don't know who I am." Nerosef said disappearing. He reappeared right in front of Sonny. "Though I would play with you but as you can see I'm in quite the hurry." Nerosef said.

He just grabbed him and threw her right into a wall. He just shook his head and his soldiers would deal with this one. Nerosef snapped his fingers and some of his soldiers appeared, "Take care of her." Nerosef said grabbing Serenades hand.

"I'm sure you will find you accommodations lovely. You will be the queen, servants waiting on you hand and foot. Lavishing dinners, and it has an amazing view from the balcony at night." Nerosef said to Serenade as they finally left the town. It was still a good two days ride till they reach the desert.

Lucas ran through the alleys to avoid detection, he had still been outside with a few old friends when the fires had started. Almost as soon as his mug of ale was finished he could feel the heat on the back of his neck. Lucas and few others had helped put out one of the fires with buckets of water from the well, apparently they were abandoned houses but that worried Lucas just as much. He knew the orphaned children were accustomed to playing and hiding in such places and prayed to the Goddesses that today was different.
With most of the fires dying down, with the help of the rain, Lucas noticed a procession of soldiers moving through Kakariko, he didn’t get a good look but concluded they were responsible. Who’s soldiers they were Lucas couldn’t say, they certainly bore no resemblance to any nobleman’s troops he could remember. He decided to trail them through the back alleys, make sure they were heading away from the village. And maybe give the people some warning if they turn around and start burning β€œoccupied” buildings. He kept a decent distance from the soldiers not wishing to engage them or provoke them any further. To his relief they did seem to be travelling out of Kakariko, but then what was the point of burning the buildings? Abandoned ones at that, their true intentions were worrying to Lucas but he pushed that to the back of his mind. They were leaving
β€œThat is all that is important” Lucas whispered to himself.

But to his astonishment he suddenly noticed their objective walking amongst them.
β€œMusic girl?” Lucas whispered to himself once more. They were kidnapping the girl who had played music for Kakariko? Why? Lucas wanted to jump in to save the girl and the day but knew in all probability he would be killed before he could draw his sword. With a frustrated sigh he continued to trail the soldiers, in the knowledge he was powerless to help. Simply observe. The procession was reaching the edge of Kakariko and he knew soon he would have to stop following, and leave the girl to her fate. It was a thought that made him feel sick but he knew realistically there was nothing he could do, and even if he could why would he? He was a simple trader...admittedly of illegal and stolen goods but all the same , the affairs of others did not concern him unless they could make him a few Rupees. Rescuing a middle-class Kakarico girl from some nasty looking, all be it seemingly polite, soldiers. Why would he do that?

Then someone who apparently did not hold to Lucas’s own ideals came into view. He did not know her name but she wore her brown hair in a pony tail and wore some kind of yellow top. She drew her sword and Lucas could have sworn he heard her say:
β€œI think you should let her go”.
Lucas bit his tongue and cringed
β€œOh no...Don’t be stupid girl!” Lucas grasped his sword, but was still reluctant to draw it.
She looked older than Lucas, probably more experienced in the way of battle. But Lucas concluded she did not know how to pick her battles. He decided to carry on observing. If she got herself killed it would be her own fault. Lucas cringed once more.
β€œIt’s not our fight...it’s not my fight” Lucas whispered to himself once more.

He watched reluctantly as Sonny was tossed aside. Whoever was leading these troops was a powerful man, he took note of the man’s face, so if he ever ran into him again...he would know to avoid him.
The two soldiers would approach Sonny. Lucas cursed under his breath. He drew his sword.
β€œDon’t make me do this, I’ll hate you forever if you make me do this random woman.”
The two soldiers approached Sonny quickly. She might be able to defend herself but Lucas wasn’t completely sure of that, and if she didn’t get up soon...It was like he was moving on instinct, Lucas leapt forward hoping to flank one of the soldiers and take him by surprise. It didn’t work out quite as he had planned, the soldier was a lot tougher than your average grunt. He swung hard at Lucas, who dodged the attack with an elegant duck and promptly kicked the soldier with all his might into the other one, causing the two to stumble over. He felt like had just kicked a rock but realising his chance he grabbed Sonny’s hand.
β€œLet’s get out of here!”
Whether she would want to run or not wass another issue entirely.

Sonny groaned from the. Hit to the wall and saw as two had the idiot trader not distracted the soldiers she wouldn't have stood a chance. Sonny felt him grab her hand and she decided she should flee and find the other sages this girl nerosef had captured must have been Zelda reincarnated why else would he have gone to so much trouble. Once Lucas got her to safety she noticed the trader was actually really cute "thank you handsome she said flirtishly she had not been with a man in a long time and he was cute.

Lucas stopped to catch his breath, he had run down a dozen alleys dragging Sonny by the wrist with him. Hopefully the two soldiers wouldn’t bother to give chase, but that would be a stroke of good luck and Lucas believed he was not very lucky. He panted trying to figure out what just happened. He looked at Sonny, she seemed fine. Didn’t even seem out of breath like Lucas, she must have been in prime shape to run like that and not gasp for breath. Slightly embarrassed by his sudden need for air, Lucas calmed his breathing and stood up straight. Lucas thought the soldiers looked like men of the west, Gerudo. Why would they be here? What did they want with an innocent girl? The king need personnel musician or something? His mind raced, what to do now?
β€œThank you handsome” the words lifted Lucas back into present.
He blushed a bit at the statement, she looked at least thirty. Probably older, he had planned to give her the rant of a life time, yell at her for getting him involved with fighting soldiers! What was she thinking?! But with that statement his heart had turned to jelly and all he could muster was a quiet
β€œUh...No problem lady.” Even he felt stupid saying it. But without warning his spine returned to him.
β€œWait, are you crazy? You could have gotten yourself killed! You could have gotten ME killed! And I don’t like being killed, it sounds most unpleasant!” Lucas sighed β€œSorry” he sheathed his short sword β€œI just don’t like getting into fights with bigger people than myself...the names Lucas. Lucas Heights, and you are?"

Serenade just looked around, as she began riding: She had taken a horse that one of the soldiers had left behind when they had confronted that brave woman . She had always wanted to see a larger world outside of the village... but not like this. She had wanted to go out with Salem, and spend time at the lake...

But, unless a miracle occurred, that wasn't going to happen anytime soon, and that thought made Serenade even sadder than she was.... even worse, she was supposed to become this mans queen? Disgusting!

She looked around, searching for options. This old man was quite fast, dangerously so. Escaping would be close to impossible while he was awake, and unless she found away to silence all the guards at once, she couldn't escape at night... her only option was to play her cards close to her chest, and see what would happen.

She took a sigh, but decided to just wait it out. She petted the horse she had borrowed, β€œLooks like we're stuck together for a little while longer. Please put up with me.” She said to it sweetly. She looked over to a solider, β€œDo you know this horse's name?”

β€œThat's Merrin, My Lady.”

β€œMy lady?” Serenade asked, but decided not to argue, she had a feeling she was going to have to get used to it.

β€œHey there, Merrin. My name is Serenade.” She said with a slight smile, and the horse neighed in response.

She closed her eyes, and let go of the reigns trusting the horse not to try and buck her off. β€œThis is all I can do... I... don't want a fancy life. I just want to be with my friends, my family. I want to go back and play more music for everyone... and I want to go to the lake with Salem... anything but this, to never see anything of them again...

She pulled out her lute, and played. She didn't care what, she just didn't want to thinkabout her current situation, and played an intangible tune: weather it was light, or heavy, or fast, she didn't know, she just played whatever riffs came to her mind.

β€œHelp me.” Her thoughts said, louder and louder

It had been some time before he noticed the woman next to him. He was in a trance. He had no idea what was going on, and there was this damn whispering in his ear constantly. he kept hearing a feminine "Help me." Over and freaking over again. He knew he had to do something about this, but he didn;t even know what this was. He was taken from his trance when he heard a louder "Help me." he shook his head and rubbed his temples. He then noticed the figure next to him on the roof.

He turned his head at her question. He looked at her with a somber, apathetic look. He was spent. His mind was running too fast. The village was nearly burnt down, he had gotten barely an hour of sleep, and to top it all off his best friend was missing. He finally decided to speak. "I dont know." was all he could say. He then leapt off the roof. He hit the ground and rolled, to keep momentum. He ran all the way out of the village and into Hyrule field. It was dark. This probably wasn't good, he had heard bad things about hyrule field at night.

He ran all the way to Lon Lon Ranch and stopped. He stood in the mddle of Hyrule field and stared at the moon. The only thing he could think was "Where are you Serenade?". over and over again he repeated it in his head.

Isis looked over at Sonny. "What happened here?" She asked her. She had been tempted to follow the man who had run off, but he seemed rather off. Maybe he needed time alone or something. It was clear though, that Isis had to figure out what had happened. She was considering running way back to Ruto, but was nonplussed by the thought. That would be a downright waste. She brought her thoughts back to Sonny. She wasn't much of a social creature herself, so she usually got straight to the point and had a tendency not to bother with greetings unless there was a measure of propriety that was required.

To be honest she was scared she knew how difficult it could be to ind linkbut she was also worried about the chaos ganondorf would bring upon the world if he succeeded

(I'm sorry, I edited my post.)

Isis looked at Sunny. That was a lot of information explained in a heartbeat. Isis had missed out on a lot here apparently. "I didn't know any of this happened." She said. "I got here and saw fires all around. When the rain came, I used it to aid me in putting the fires out. Perhaps the people will be able to rebuild if not everything is destroyed." She looked around the town and sighed. "Well, if we must get the sages together, I think it's time for me to return to Zora's Domain." She said. There was nothing for her here to even remotely enjoy, so much for her chance to spend time to herself and maybe do a little shopping. She looked at Sonny again.

Isis merely nodded. She turned to look over the town. "I will go back to Zora's domain and talk to my sage. If she agrees that we should head to the temple of time, then we will go and see you there." Isis said. She jumped off the roof. "Safe travels." She hurried off towards Zora's domain, but this time, she was going to get herself a better ride. She first planned to go to Lon Lon ranch to buy herself a horse. She didn't want to keep walking everywhere she went. She'd see if she had enough rupees.

Lucas watched as Sonny quickly scrambled away from him. What had she asked him? He could have sworn she had just requested him to go and alert someone about sages. Whatever it was, the situation was clear in Lucas’s mind, she was crazy. He stood in the dark alleyway for a moment; all this commotion meant there was going to be questions, enquiries. A detailed search of his cart would reveal various stolen goods. Lucas knew whatever his course of action, he had to leave Kakariko...now. He had hoped to sell some of his wine to the local tavern keeper for some extra rupee’s but that was now out of the question. His only hope of getting a few Rupee’s together now was if someone was leaving Kakariko and needed a lift, playing taxi had good money in it. But that would be a stroke of good luck and, as previously stated, Lucas did not believe himself to be lucky. Lucas decided to head back to his horse and cart stabled just outside the village, completely ignoring whatever the crazy lady had said. All this was someone else’s problem and he had already got way to involved. With his weapons sheathed, and with a careful eye for those two soldiers Lucas made his way to the boundaries of the village. There he found his horse and cart, carefully tethered to a tree where he had left them. He approached the horse and affectionately stroked his fur.
β€œSorry buddy, its hey for a couple more days” Lucas said in almost a whisper to his horse.
He began prepping his cart for travel through Hyrule field. It was dangerous at night, but Lucas new most of the safer routes and had a few tricks up his sleeve encase he ran into trouble. He kept an eye for anyone leaving the village, it was late now, they would be easily spotted leaving town. Hopefully he could rustle up a few Rupee’s out of all this, Kakariko had been an absolute disaster business wise. As Lucas checked the wheel of his cart he noticed the lute he had bought earlier had been dropped off. It was a beautiful thing, gold letter had been etched into its varnished wood. He strummed it briefly before placing it in the secret compartment of his cart. He looked around one last time.
β€œCome on, someone must need a lift?”

Isis arrived at Lon Lon ranch and asked about the prices of the horses. The prices were about a hundred rupees higher than her budget. She had a bracelet that belonged to her mother that she always kept with her. She asked the owner if she could use the bracelet as collateral until she acquired the rest of the rupees for the horse. This bracelet was not meant to be used as payment, but to her it was worth far more than a hundred rupees. The owner of Lon Lon Ranch could see how much the bracelet meant to her, so he obliged, saying as soon as she had the rupees she was to come back with them and he'd give her back the bracelet. She could choose a horse she liked.

Isis went around the ranch looking at the horses. A beautiful buckskin was eating grass off to the side. The torso, head, and upper part of the legs were a slightly creamy tan color, but the lower part of the legs, the hooves, mane, and tail were all black. Isis went over to this horse, and asked the owner's name. The owner told her the horse's name was Cobalt. She told him this was the horse she'd take. A saddle came with this horse, so the owner took him to the stables and Isis followed. She saddled Cobalt up, paid the owner and gave up her mother's bracelet. She thanked the owner and got on Cobalt. She then rode off with him.

Salem stopped the horse on the edge of a large cliff.

The horse he had been riding was named Dahlia. She had a brown coat wtih white hair, and feet. When he rented the horse he was told that it was a pedigree. Her mothers name was Epona. He was told this was a legendary horse who was once ridden by a great hero. Salem frankly did not care who the horses mother was, he just needed a horse. He was still in a daze, and was being quite silent. He paid the rupees and left in a hurry. He quickly traversed hyrule field with determination.

He finally arrived at his destination, the only thing Serenade hadn't gotten to do. The last conversation they had, there had to be a clue here.

He dismounted Dahlia and stared in wonder at the great Lake Hylia. He stepped closer to the edge and kicked a stone off. He watched it fall into the water, still thinking about Serenade. Where could she possibly be. He shook his head and walked towards a large house on the edge of the cliff. The house had a huge post out the top of it, with a ladder leading to the top. It overlooked the entire lake. Salem nodded and walked to the house, climbed onto the roof, and began climbing the ladder. Once he reached the top he sighed. He sat, with his legs dangling off the edge looking over the lake. He pulled the ocarina that Serenade left on the bed out of his pocket and studied it. He smiled, remembering Serenades beautiful music.

He put the ocarina to his lips and began to play. He didn't know any songs, he just played notes. Anything he could think of. He was going on hope now. Hope that anyone, anywhere, who knew anything, could hear it, and help him find Serenade.

Lucas looked down at Tyler. He looked young. More so he looked like a native of the south, Hyrule field was no place for a Kokiri. He would be much safer in Kakariko. Goddess’s knew how he had come to find himself here, but Lucas was no baby sitter. He decided to go with his better judgement, he hadn’t earlier and now Gerudo soldiers could be on the lookout for his face.
β€œSorry Kid” Lucas said β€œHyrule field is no place for fairy boy. Here.” He flicked a small bag of ten rupees in his direction. β€œHope that helps, but I won’t be responsible for runaways. I got enough trouble.”
Before the child could speak again Lucas approached his cart and jumped into the front seat. With that his horse began to gently trod off into the distant dark of Hyrule field.
The night on Hyrule Field had been rough slept but otherwise okay. A few armed Gerudo had passed his way but he hadn’t recognised them and they were most defiantly not the ones from Kakariko. Didn’t stop him from hiding his face though. He had set out with no clear destination. His plan for the next couple of weeks had been abruptly torn apart with the raid on Kakariko and Lucas had to quickly form another whilst on the move. He was half way to Lon Lon Ranch when he changed his mind. He had to think business, he had a good quality Lute in his possession and he had to think of a place he could sell. If in doubt it was his smuggling that decided his direction upon the field, castle town would be too hot to enter right now; the Gerudo might have bought it if he hadn’t decided to show his face to their soldiers before kicking one in the ribs. The west was a no go. He finally settled upon Lake Hylia. The people there were relatively relaxed about his trade and even if he couldn’t find a buyer there the Zora always had an eye for musical instruments.
β€œMight as well” Lucas thought to himself β€œNo other options really open for me.”
With that thought he turned his horse and cart around and set out for the east. It took most of the day and Lucas feared he would still be upon the field when darkness came. He was no longer on one of his safe routes. He found himself entertaining thoughts of travelling west one day, to the Gerudo, and enquiring about the music girl. Why had they taken her? Something about it had just seemed wrong to him. He knew realistically he probably wouldn’t. But he had noticed the westward march of the soldiers, and their obvious Gerudo features. They were obviously heading to the western deserts. Lucas knew this but refused to act on it. It wasn’t his business.
Thankfully he arrived at Lake Hylia just before nightfall, he set up camp at its edge. He lit a luminous fire upon its banks and began cooking. At least he would get a decent meal tonight. He looked around, all was quiet. He thought about the music girl and the Lute in his possession. Then he sighed deeply.
β€œWhen did life become such a pain in the neck...”

The sound of sizzling bacon and the smell of cooking meat filled the air around Lucas. Lucas casually sat by his fire, Lake Hylia had always been a safe place for travellers, well it was getting worse now but he was safe enough. He casually stood and threw an apple to his horse before sitting down once again. The music girl still played on his mind, was it guilt? Should he have tried to help her?
β€œNo” Lucas said allowed to himself β€œThere was nothing you could do.”
Lucas hadn’t been concerned for events like this for some time, he wondered if there was an element of mysticism in her music. Some kind of enchantment that enticed men or focus crowds perhaps? He had heard of such things in castle town after the Gerudo invaded, pacifying the populace was after all, part of an invasion. Maybe it was something to do with that? Lucas pondered this for a few moments. Heading after her was a stupid idea he had decided that at least. He was not prepped for the desert, and what he say?
β€œWhilst attacking your soldiers I noticed you were westerners, can I have that girl back now?”
For all he knew they were friends and that crazy woman was literally just that, a crazy woman. Lucas fiddled with the pan atop the fire, the bacon looked about ready. He stood once more this time to retrieve a plate from the back of his cart, but as he approached something wasn’t right. He heard the slight sound of vegetation being disturbed. Lucas went alert and immediately began walking at a slower pace and breathed softly to hide the sound of both activities. He walked slowly to the back of his cart and noticed a berry bush where there had been none before. Someone was picking the berries, a harmless thing but whoever it was, was sat in the back of his cart!
β€œRiff Raff!” He thought to himself β€œSome troublesome urchin has hitched a ride!”
With both the speed and skill of experience Lucas jumped behind his cart, short sword drawn ready to hold it to whoever had been sat there.
β€œWho are you worm?!” Lucas roared as he swung round the back, sword in hand. Suddenly he relaxed, lowered his weapon and spoke much quieter. β€œBy the Goddess’s you...I should have known. What’s wrong with you?! Trying to get yourself killed?!”
Before him sat the twelve year old Tyler, innocently eating berries. Lucas sheathed his sword.

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

im basically killing time until either the sages find me, or serenade telepathathically contacts me, so until then... im chilling at lalke hyllia.

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

Ok so, I'm still here. My university classes have started up again and I'm busier than ever now. But I also don't know really where to proceed from here with my character. My role play is almost all monologue stuff and I dunno about it. Like lets say I rp my char all the way back to Ruto, I don't play as ruto, so what do i do about that rp? idk, i gotta admit it's not as fun for me to rp much of it alone. :/

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

im still here.

there's just not much serenade could do right now, till we get back to serenade's new home

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

sorry about that anyways I'm in kakariko as well trying to get a ride from the merchant they could become travel companions trying to get the sages and apprentices together?

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

My character is a she, by the way.

Anyway, if you can come up with a reason for them to cross paths, I'm all for it. Last post I had for her, she was still in Kakariko Village.

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

He can do something with my forest apprentice

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

Okay, it looks like the person writing for Rala is probably gone from the RP and I've been slightly left behind while waiting on her. I'd like to jump forward and get back into the middle of the action. Any ideas?

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

jackrules, I imagine we can just move along a little, but we shouldnt go too far.
Salem is not going to meet anyone until Crest comes back, he is just going to be wandering around hyrule looking for serenade

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

what do we do if crest doesnt post anymore should we just move on

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

I'm still here and hoping to be involved. Waiting on AthenaUndying.

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

its no problem. I know what you mean: the faster you get it done, the better

he could come because he heard the music, or something

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

I apologize for not posting earlier today. School just got back in session and I've been busy preparing for a panel at a convention (which is in three months, but it's best not to procrastinate for these kinds of things). I'll try to post tonight.

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

irondude is talking with me about kidnaooing me later, so we won't be stuck in the same place forever

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

idk, he can come see Salem, but i dont know why he would :P

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

ATTENTION! I will post later today as Link the Goron. However, I need reasons for getting him off of Death Mountain. Suggestions?

Re: [OOC] Legend of Zelda: Generation of Hope

So I posted like a couple days ago and there really hasn't been much activity for a lil while now. I'm waiting for others to post before I reply again.
