Setting

The room is located on the seventh floor in the left corridor of the Hogwarts castle and has a hidden entrance opposite the tapestry depicting the attempt of Barnabas the Barmy to teach trolls ballet. The way to open the room is to walk past it three times thinking about what you need, and the door will appear. It is advised that the users of this room be very specific about what they are looking for, as it has been shown that other people can enter the room and see what the occupant is doing if they know how the room is being used. - http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Room_of_Requirement

Celine lay under her covers listening to the sounds of her fellow dungeon mates breath's slowing to the pace that alerted her to their sleeping state. It had taken a while for everyone to turn in for the night, being a Friday and everything, but finally everyone in the dorms had turned it. It was well after eleven before she was able to crawl from her bunk, fully dressed in her favorite Muggle outfit of skinny jeans, suede boots, a turtleneck sweater to protect against the chill and small vest for added flair. School had only begun a couple of weeks before and it was her first bit of mischief during her last year of school, the blonde Slytherin could not wait to begin. Creeping as slowly as she possibly could from the end of her bunk she was able to make it to the doorway of her room with only a small scare when one of the girls in her year let out a snort in her sleep. Making it into the common room and out of the secret wall was no issue after that.

It had been established the previous day, when hanging out with her friends around the school grounds, that they should all sneak into the room of requirement for a game of truth or dare. None of them were sure who originally introduced the room, they had found reference to it in one of the parents old diaries and had been using it since their third year of school as a place to escape from their worries and troubles. At least Celine had, she suspected the rest had as well and although they had all used the room a couple of times together previously, never had it been on such a scale as this. She shivered with anticipation as she made her way up through the dungeons praying that she didn't run into a nosy prefect or wandering teacher on her way.

Finally, with a very little trouble she made it to the room of requirement and stood in front of the wall tapping her wand against her right leg thinking to herself. She had to make sure the room had exactly what they all needed, and that they wouldn't be found out accidentally while inside it. She could only imagine the trouble they would all be in if such a large group was caught. Smiling and snapping her fingers together she paced back and forth in front of the spot three times thinking hard about exactly what they needed and a tapestry appeared in front of her. Grinning she pushed it to the side and found a small door that she was able to pass through and into the room.

The room was perfect, just what she wanted, a sunken fire pit sat in the middle and the lights were low. Around the fire pit were eight comfy looking seats consisting of armchairs and loveseats and even one long couch that would fit three. She circled the room and saw several cupboards filled with all sorts of items that would be good for a dare, eye of newt, toe of frog, she wondered if she would get anyone to try and eat one of them. Giggling to herself she closed the cabinet and flipped her blonde hair over her shoulder, it was extraordinary the secrets one could discover in the castle if they only knew where to look and how to use it.

Looking around she did wonder how she had possibly been the first one to make it there, usually one of the others always beat her to the spot. She didn't ponder it too long however, sure that she would be joined by her friends just as soon as they could weave their way past the teachers and other obstacles created to keep students in bed during after hours such as these. Humming to herself, Celine pulled out a bottle of bright green nail polish and began painting her nails. She always kept a bottle on her person since the teachers were constantly making her remove the Muggle creation every chance they got. It didn't bother her though, having so much time on her hands anyways, she had become quite adapt at painting her nails and was constantly experimenting with new designs.

And this is how the seventeen year old Slytherin contented herself alone in the hidden room of the castle while awaiting for her friends to join her and their game of truth or dare to begin.

Monty didn’t bother going to bed that night, instead simply remaining in the common room for a while. Never sleeping more than five hours, and that on a good day, Monty didn’t usually go to bed until midnight at the earliest. Staring into the fireplace, his mind was a thousand miles away, his hand almost unconsciously rolling a coin across his knuckles.

This was the start of his last year at Hogwarts. As soon as graduation had come and gone Monty planned on changing his last name to Henderson, that of his mother, and breaking every tie he had with his current family. Unlike many seventh year students who were busy planning their careers after Hogwarts, Monty had a different plan. For the past five years he had been, little by little, storing away some of his father’s money. It wasn’t like he was stealing it, though. Being a wealthy man, his father was quite generous when it came to giving money for this and that, especially since he found out about his mother. While it was never spoken aloud, Monty could tell that his father was trying to buy his silence. To be honest, it worked. Monty had enough saved to disappear for a while, go wherever he wanted go, do whatever he wanted to do.

For a while he considered waiting for Celine and walking to the Room of Requirement with her, but decided against it. He hadn’t spent much time with his closest friend at the school, a girl in Hufflepuff named Tarvel, and figured he’d rather sneak over to the entrance of her dormitory and wait for her there. Not wanting to miss her, Monty left early, around ten. It was a slightly dangerous time to wander around, considering curfew was at nine which meant that there would be more activity than if he waited, but by this point in time Monty had perfected his route to the Hufflepuff dorm and wasn’t worried.

Just to be safe though, he was wearing slightly baggy black jeans and a dark gray long sleeved shirt, as well as his favorite shoes, his converse. There was one point that Monty was almost caught though, but a simple spell caused a noise to occur down the hall which distracted the prefect long enough for Monty to slip away. After that, it was smooth sailing to the Hufflepuff dorm, where Monty found himself a nice spot in a dark corner and waited for Tar. Tonight was going to be fun, he thought. While the group had been together for a while, there was still plenty for them to learn about each other in a game of Truth or Dare. While it sounded a little childish, it was actually just the thing to get their minds off of school work and the drama that came with living at Hogwarts.

Tarvel had been a bit against the idea to slip away at night to the Room of Requirements, but eventually had given in. Though, she was still scared a bit that someone would find out. But, once the whole group had said yes, she would just go along. Plus, maybe she would get to know people a bit better, like Monty, her best friend. She hadn't seen him a lot, so she was actually quite excited to spend some time together with him. So eventually, she had agreed with the group to go to the Room of Requirements.

It was still quite early, around ten, but she stayed where she was. She had to wait for everyone to fall asleep before she could go. She could have waited in the common room, but she liked to lie on the bed. This was her last year at Hogwarts, and she was going to miss this place badly. The Castle, and the nature around it she loved to explore, she was really going to miss this great place. And she was going to miss her friends, especially Monty. She didn't even know what she should become after graduation. Maybe a vet, or a teacher. She doubted though she was smart enough for that.

She was going to miss the amazing creatures she had fallen in love with. She had been studying them all, and loved every single creature in its own way. Though, some creatures scared her a bit, like the Giant Spiders in the Forbidden Forest. But still, she loved them all in their own way, and she hoped to maybe even get a pet, like a dragon. But she also knew they needed a lot of care, and she easily forget things at times.

Time seemed to go by so slow, she got up from bed and went to the common room. It was around eleven at that time, so it should be late enough to sneak away. No one had noticed her, so she left the common room and looked around to see if she could spot Monty, having a feeling he was waiting for her. Then they could walk together to the Room of Requirements. She didn't like to walk alone either, she feared it a bit to walk alone. Finally spotting Monty, she smiled faintly and went to him. Wearing a dark simple pants and a black t-shirt, she might be hard to spot. Which was just what she needed.

It was that awful half sleep state. Where Niles was semi aware that he was awake but was still in the grasp of sleep. He tossed around, getting his already tangled self deeper into the mess of his sheets. But it was a sharp swat to the face that shocked him awake. Sitting bolt upright, in his semi-drowsy state, Niles nearly fell from his bed. The was a muted howl from his sheets and as he orientated himself, fished inside to find his cat Cleo buried within the material. The cheeky thing hadn't been pleased with his moving so decided to show her dissatisfaction with a paw to the face. It had definitely gotten his attention. But she had already forgotten the incident and had moved to where she was now curled, purring peacefully, at the base of his bed. With lethargic limbs he began rubbing his eyes to clear the blurry vision. He blinked another few times and wasn't able to suppress the yawn that overtook him. He couldn't believe he was so exhausted, it had only been a week back at school! To match his tired limbs, his mind was equally slow. It took him a bit to realise what the niggling thought in the back of his mind was telling him. The effect was a mini panic attack as he remembered what they had planned for tonight. He frantically fumbled for his wand that was rested somewhere on his side table. After finally locating the blasted thing he gripped it and quickly drew the sheets over his head so he could perform the spell that would emit light so he could read the time on his Rolex watch (a guilty present from his parents). The big hand had just ticked over to 11pm and he let out a relieved breath. He wasn't late just yet. Letting the light fade, he flipped the sheet off and stumbled out of bed. The hands of sleep still hanging onto him. But somehow he got up, and sliding in his fluffy socks made his way to his wardrobe. Pulling out whatever he grabbed first, which just so happened to be his Kizz shirt and just a pair of grey slacks, he quickly dressed and headed downstairs. He wasn't exactly quiet but he knew that no one would bother him or even bother waking as they were used to his mischievous cat waking him up at odd hours.

He was walking in a daze, barely noticing anything, it was a wonder that he didn't run into any trouble on the way. His mind wasn't focused on anything, just listening to the muted thumps of his feet that echoed through the hallways. It was pretty dark, but he didn't mind so much because it seemed to keep him in that dreary state of sleep and that was fine by him. Niles was no way a night owl, but there was no way he was going to miss a game of truth or dare with his good mates. There was a lot of catching up to do after the holidays despite it already being a week. It was such a good idea and he forgot who actually mentioned it, not that it mattered but he liked to think he could take some credit for it. That brought a small smile to his lips as he went shuffling along to the room of requirement, still not noticing that he hadn't removed his fluffy socks and all in all looked extremely dorky. His thoughts were on the fact that no doubt he would be the last there but it didn't bother him as long as no one had started without him.

He finally reached the Room. It was cloaked by a surprisingly modern looking tapestry. His smile that had stayed on his lips the entire journey from when it appeared to now, morphed into a smirk. He definitely knew who came here first, the one girl who seemed to really love all the muggle and modern stuff. Gingerly he pushed past the tapestry and slowly creaked the door open, not wanting to startle the ones inside. This was going to be awesome, and the last clingy remnants of drowsiness seemed to wash away as he entered the room.

"Look out everyone, the fun has arrived!" He chimed, his megawatt grin lighting up his face.

Cece beamed at her now done Slytherin themed nails. She felt she had really outdone herself this time. The fumes from the polish, however, where a little strong and she found herself gagging as the heat from the fire intensified the scent. Snatching up her wand from where it had fallen on the ground, Celine muttered a little incantation that sent a cool breeze through the room evaporating the strong scent from the polish and leaving the air fresh. Normally Cece would avoid doing little spells such as the one she had just used, she liked to be more independent and find none magical ways of doing things, but as she was a witch and a student of Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardy she felt she could indulge herself everyone once in a while.

It turns out Celine had cast the spell just in time because a few moments later Niles walked through the entrance to the room of requirement. "Look out everyone, the fun has arrived!" Niles announced to a basically empty room grinning widely. Celine grinned in response and gave a little wave of her hand, "So far its just us, no one else has arrived yet. I was beginning to worry I had the dates mixed up!" It was nearly impossible to not smile around Niles, he was also so cheerful and really knew how to bring a person out of their depression. "But since your here now I guess it wont be long until the others arrive as well." Celine added as an afterthought, getting up from her current seat, stretching out and walking to a different one. Before too many more people arrived she wanted to be sure that she had the seat she wanted to sit through for most of the rest of the night. Who knew how long their little game of truth or dare would go on.

Turns out hardly five minutes passed before Tar and Monty entered the room. Monty with a “Mornin’ folks," and a "Nice to see our ladies in real clothing, as much as I love our body hiding robes,” he was chuckling as he said the last part and Celine grinned in response. "Agreed, and same to our gentlemen friends, its always nice to get out of those damned boring uniforms every once in a while." And it was true, Celine took every opportunity she could to wear muggle clothing, sometimes even wearing them under her robes instead of the horrid school uniform. Plaid, really? She shuddered at the very thought of the plaid skirts and white crisp cotton shirts they were forced to wear. No, she much preferred her jeans and boots, thank you very much. "Do you guys know if anyone else said they would show up or if this is it for the night?" As much as the group loved to get together sometimes it was just impossible to get everyone in the same location.

Tar walked beside Monty as they walked to the Room of Requirements, all the while silent. She didn't have anything to say anyway. Her thoughts were somewhere else though. She had read a book a couple of days ago and she couldn't get it out of her head. It had been about creatures in the magical world. Dragons had caught her fullest attention, and she still could remember one. The Ukrainian Ironbelly, a beautiful white dragon. That dragon was still in her head. She didn't know why, she just guessed she liked its appearance, and beautiful the dragon was. And big for sure. Though keeping it as a pet would be something that wouldn't be possible, though last night she had dreamed about.

She was dreaming that she was standing outside, listening to the birds around her. At once she heard a roar and just a few seconds later a dragon landed before her. An Ukrainian Ironbelly! It was beautiful, white colour. Large claws and teeth, and eyes that looked at her. And she looked in its eyes. The dragon laid down and she climbed on its back. Seconds later they were flying! The wind blew through her hair and everything seemed just amazing. When she looked down everything looked so tiny, and she had thought that it were ants and such. The dragon roared and did something amazing. She hadn't seen her brother for eight years. The dragon landed before a house and Tier came out! Tier, her older brother she hadn't seen ever since she was nine. She got of the dragon's back and hugged him tight. He told her he was proud that she went to Hogwarts. But than, everything went black and she woke up. That night she had been crying and that day she had been just as silent as she was in the beginning.

Tar shook her head slightly to clear the memory. She could feel tears stinging her eyes, but held them back. They were almost there, at the Room of Requirements. She didn't want to walk in crying.

They arrived and a few people were already there. Seems like they were last, which she didn't mind at all. She smiled faintly at everyone and looked around the room. It was warm and she liked it a lot. There was a fire. Tar sat down a bit away from the others as she usually did, and hoped secretly that Monty would sit beside her. Still trying to clear the memory of her dream.

Tar just stared blankly at the fire. The thought of her brother showing up kept her busy in her head. Ever since that dream, it seemed like she was haunted by it. She didn't like it. Though, it had given her a little spark of hope on finding him. Hope that she hadn't known ever since he left. And yet, it made her feel sad about it. He had promised to always be close, and he had broken the promise. She had hated him for that, but had forgiven him too. She just couldn't stay angry at her older brother. If she would ever see him again, she would never leave him, no matter what. She wasn't going to loose him twice, no way. She wouldn't be able to cope with that, would she loose him again. Than it would end for her.

A thought popped up. Her sisters. She smiled faintly, remembering when her sisters were so excited to see her for the first time. And her brothers too. Sometimes, she wished she could go back in time and do all the fun stuff again. When the family was happy, and not haunted by sadness and depression. When they would eat together and talk and play. When they were one big family.

Another memory. Her brother who had died in a car crash. He was instantly dead. The poor boy would never see her go to Hogwarts and become a real witch. She sighed softly and shook her head to clear it.

Tar watched Monty walk to her and got up. She sat down beside Cece and Niles, than looked up at Monty with a faint smile. Now the group wouldn't be divided. She looked at the seat beside her, than back at the fire. This would be better, and probably more fun for the others, she hoped at least.

His grand entrance unfortunately didn't have the whole audience, but it had the person who mostly mattered. There, looking rather comfortable, in the plush chair sat his best friend Cece. He was rather surprised that he had actually arrived before the others, albeit Cece. The whole room was filled with a cosy warmth and Niles had to give kudos to his bestie for coming up with a room that really had everything they needed, and appeared extremely comfy. He also spied a cabinet that most likely was filled with some interesting things for their truth and dare game. She definitely went all out and Niles was impressed. This was looking to be a promising night, if people showed up and they had the right date. Knowing them it wasn't unlikely that they had gotten the date wrong! But either way, they would have a good time together, they always did, it was Niles everlasting mission to always bring the fun.

"Well, I hope not either! But either way, we can still have some interesting times on our own if the others don't turn up, which I think is very unlikely since, well come on, we're going to have a game of truth or dare! How can they even think of missing out?" His voice had that bubbling ring to it which made everything he said have that hint of happiness to it and even if you weren't looking at him you could tell he was smiling. He watched Cece go to a new seat and followed her, plonking down beside her on the now slightly cramped seat. "Scooch over you!" He said while moving her feet from the seat and placing them over his own legs, so that now he was sitting normally and she was more vertical with her legs strewn across him. Just as they were getting comfortable Monty and Tar arrived. Niles raised his arms in a sort of cheer.

"Excellent! More fun has arrived." Now they had both Slytherin and Hufflepuff here, maybe they were getting stricter with the other houses? Ah well, Niles thought, we'll at least see them in classes tomorrow, giving me the perfect opportunity to brag about how amazing tonight is. Before the other pair answered he quickly gestured to the empty seats. "Rest your weary selves on these very plush and comfy seats. Courtesy of Cece." He grinned and gave her a wink.

Character Portrait: Erick Blacktalow

Hogwarts, 10:00pm, Ericks favorite time. Kneeling besides a stone gargoyle on the rooftop, the night chill nipped at his legs, he didn't mind. The full moon bathed everything in a blue light. Erick was dressed in his normal (or 'muggle' as they were called) clothes. A white T, grey cargo shorts, and of corse his black silk windbreaker. A distant bird let out a screech that echoed through the silence of the night; Erick looked up to see the silhouette of Zipporah pass by under a bridge. The bird of prey perched herself beside her friend. Erick smiled looking out at the night sky and ran a finger down Zipporahs neck.

"About that time isn't it?" Erick said as he stood up to his full height. As much as he wanted to continue enjoying the peace of night he had made commitments to his other friends. Reaching inside the breast of his windbreaker Erick produced his wand; a simple seven inches of smooth wood, completely unremarkable say a single long streak where the wood was slightly lighter. Erick took 3 running steps and jumped. Air rushed past his long hair and caused his clothes to ripple as he fell.

Erick twirled the wand around his index finger and caught it upside down. "Improbus gravitas" he whispered.

He cast the spell and suddenly he was no longer falling down, but forward. Adjusting with the sudden gravity change imposed on his body Erick curled his long legs and transferred his excess momentum into a roll. He recovered from the tumble and continued running down the wall of the castle.

Perhaps he should have left sooner. Tonight was to be one of the first nights they would reunite since the holiday, and someone had suggested they play a game of truth or dare in the room of requirements. Erick was not a giant fan of the idea since the game required a deal of speaking. However, Erick decided that he would humor the game if for no other reason than to spend time with the group. Erick sidestepped to avoid stepping on a window. After all, they were really the only wizards and witches he spoke around.

Erick spotted an open window on the floor where the game was to be played. He made a quick adjustment to his pace and jumped into the window. "Improbus gravitas" he whispered again as the glass passed by his face. His feet and hand hit the floor and he eventually came to a stop. From there it was a short walk to the room.

He spotted the tapestry that marked the entrance to the room. He pulled aside the ornament and walked through the doorway. He gave the room a quick look over and noticed almost, of not everyone, had already arrived. He didn't mind being a few minutes late.

Erick quietly made his way towards the fireplace and leaned against the wall just besides it, careful not to block view of the flames. He felt the warmth of the fire wrap itself around his shins. He preferred standing to sitting and it looked for the most pert the group was evenly spaced, so he got comfortable.
