Back Story: Kaldon was the best in his field. In the great war between the Avians and Dwarfs over territory rights, Kaldon created the weapons that won the war for the Avians. However this was all at a cost. His outpost in the jungles of Fogmarsh on the border of the Ravendale mountain range. The dwarfs had tunneled under the jungle and planted explosives under his outpost. He lost his left arm and eye in the blast. The doctors did the best they could, but Kaldon wasn't satisfied. After the war ended and the two sides worked out a treaty that gave the mountains to the Dwarfs and the jungles to the Avians, Kaldon created replacements for his eye and arm. The eye had a weapons grade laser and multiple vision lenses that could aim, see through walls, see heat signatures, and even allow night vision. The arm had enhanced strength and dexterity, could move in ways a real arm couldn't.
While looking for a rare ore to forge a unique war hammer, he came across what looked to be the hilt of a dagger. The instant he picked it up he was overcome with visions of the world being plunged into darkness and an army of the undead tearing their way out of the underworld. He knew he had to keep the hilt safe, but he also had to get more information. He got his best armor and set off from Bloodroot jungle in Fogmarsh, across the Great Lake of Life, to the mouth of the Four Providence Gulf. He was headed to the shores of Meadhold. It was here that Mer folk were known to frequent and he needed an Oracle. The mer folk were the only race left that still had Oracles, most of the others were killed in wars. Unfortunately, where there were mer folk, there were usually pirates too.
