Lailah listened to Alexander's introduction with wide-eyed enthusiasm. House Typhen! The name sounded vaguely familiar to her, something from one of her many heroic novels, she presumed. Before she could answer his query, however, another soul had arrived. Tall, dark, and eye catching, with the rugged look of a romantic anti-hero, the kind her cohorts would giggle and swoon over. He would certainly be at home at one of her pirate anthologies!

The fencer listened to 'Nobody's' introduction. She was somewhat wary of his lackadaisical attitude, yet he seemed friendly enough. 'Nobody' was barely able to finish explaining his sentence, when Lailah suddenly jumped back, her brows furrowed and her mouth agape.

"TERRORIZING?!"

She yelled, her jaw hanging wide in indignity. That word seemed to have caught her attention instantly. Her azure eyes gleamed with determination, as she suddenly stomped forward, and pumped her right fist.

"Then we cannot let this preposterous creature live another day! Sir Nobody, allow us to assist you in this noble quest!" She shouted with great fervor and swung her fist to swat the empty air, the swift motion causing her cape to flap dramatically.

In that instant, Lailah had completely (hopefully, temporarily) forgotten her original goals. The fencer grabbed the shoulders of the two taller men beside her, pulled them close, and smirked.

"This we shall do! In the name of LOVE and PEACE!"

A long, awkward pause.

Lailah glanced left and right, then loosened her grip on both their shoulders. A grip which seemed abnormally strong for a girl her size.

Her expression softened, and her blue eyes gazed at the two larger men like an unsure puppy. She might have been a bit caught up in the moment. Slowly, she turned to look to Alexander.

"...U-uhm... that is-is also why you're here, I presume?"

"TERRORIZING?!" The call may as well been the wail of a banshee Nyx thought.

Nyx muttered a spell turning invisible unseen to anyone that couldn't detect magic. Silently she sneaked towards the voice only to find three people a girl the screamer.. a man and walking armor with wings.
Nyx listened gathering they too sought the troll. What an odd group though. She knew even she couldn't fight an army of goblins alone though.

Nyx sighed and raised up her spell of invisibility canceled as she pulled the goblin map out "If you are hunting troll it would help to have the map to his home.."

Alexander regarded this 'Nobody' with caution as the stranger moved closer to himself and Lailah. His head tilted to one side at a slight angle when the man mentioned that he was looking for an ice troll. Of course, he should have realised that he would not be the only one, but what chance did this lone, lightly armoured commoner stand against a troll?

The sky knight's helmeted head whipped round when Lailah exclaimed her surprise, along with her intention to join the two on this quest. She even pulled him and the unknown human close - a feat that surprised the avian given the fact that he was wearing a complete suit of armour - already seeing the two as close comrades despite having run into each other not five minutes ago. This woman was naive, and yet, she was prepared to drop whatever business she was up to in favour of taking up arms for the good of the people. Qualities worthy of any knight, airborne or otherwise.

"Yes, I am also here for the ice troll," Alexander confirmed with a nod of the head when Lailah sheepishly asked him. "We shall head out at once, and -"

He was interrupted by the voice of yet another individual. This time it was a dark elf, appearing to offer them a map of some kind. The glow of his helmet's optics seemed to narrow slightly. "How convenient that one would have such an item," he remarked drily, hand resting on the hilt of his greatsword. "Almost too convenient..."

"This is....so much better...." Victor murmured, plucking uncomfortably at his shirt. The night breeze blew a salt flavored chill over the three as the trio of thieves meandered down the boardwalk. Victor fought back a pained groan as his shirt rippled against a raging sunburn that covered the majority of his upper body thanks to the mandatory afternoon tanning Kylin had enforced. Even Ro-an had been panting visibly by the time Kylin's interest turned to the array of seafood restaurants in town. It was problematic the way they wordlessly allowed themselves to endure such obvious tests of obedience. He glanced at Kylin, now several shades more caramel than was usual but otherwise sporting his satisfied smile. His narrow eyes glinting in the decorative lighting that lined the shops and taverns. "Why did you have us come here again? As much as I love a...dreamy sun filled vacation....this isn't really my sort of element."

Victor's gaze followed a small gaggle of women dressed still in their bathing outfits with little more than light flowered shawls and skirts to protect them from the chill ocean breeze.

"We needed a holiday...a...refresh so to speak. Enjoy it. Even people like us need to enjoy the finer things in life every once in a while. I bet they make amazing drinks here. I'm in the mood for something tropical. What do you say, Ro? I know you like fish. I bet they have nice draft beers here too." Kylin's gaze flitted from shop front to tavern sign and he nudged Ro with his suggestion. It seemed they ran out of shops on the dock when Kylin brought them to an abrupt stop. "Perfect."

He would choose the most shifty looking shack on the beachway. Victor thought. He didn't complain, neither of them did but as they were about to walk in a very peculiar looking Avian walked out. It was as if a switch had been flipped in Kylin's mind, he shoved elbowed Ro-an roughly causing him to step outside of his path and bump into the man.

"Augh- sorry, my mistake." That scuffle of fur and wings was all Kylin needed to reach over relieve the man of his wallet and whatever interesting thing he kept in his outward pocket. He bounded lightly to the bar without missing a beat to leave Ro to utter his clumbsy apologies.

"Give me something tropical, and the biggest mug of something frothy for the tiger" Kylin beamed at the woman and slid Kaldon's own bills across the counter to her. He slipped the other strange object into his pocket out of view, he'd investigate it later after a few drinks. "What sort of fresh catches do you serve here?"

While he was relieved by the fact that the minotaur was in a cheerful mood and laughing, Yevoc once again couldn’t help but feel insulted by the comment about his sword being kitchen knives. Nevertheless, he figured it was better to stay on this guy’s good side so he obliged and kept an eye on the cave where the troll had retreated after throwing the boulder at him.
“Oh yeah, this is much better than killing the troll on our own.” Ash muttered.
“Why don’t you make yourself useful and fly your tiny ass up there to see if the troll is there or not?"
“That’s actually not a bad idea.” Ash said before fluttering off to the cave at the top of the hill. A few minutes later he turned around and flew back out of the cave and hovered a few feet in front of the entrance before turning to human size. “Hey you guys might want to come look at this. The cave comes out into a goblin village and they seem to be enjoying the supplies they stole. Also there’s a group of people in the woods a few yards over there.” He said as he pointed to the group still in the woods.
“Well, …” Yevoc paused, realizing he didn’t get the minotaur’s name “… sir, once your friend gets those twigs out of your back, I’ll get my pixie and we can go put my fancy kitchen knives to the test. Or if you’d like we can stay and see if these others are friendly.”
“Watch your tongue snowflake!” Ash snapped at Yevoc, pixie was viewed as a derogatory slur to the fairies.
“Well, you don’t have to come along with me everywhere if you don’t want to.” He chuckled back at him.
“I can put you frozen ass back under that boulder again, too! Remember that!”

Kaldon was in such a hurry that he barely noticed the giant tiger therian even after the collision. He certainly didn’t notice the other avian take his stuff from his pockets. He began to run as fast as he could and in spite of the fact that his armor was made from an ultra-light alloy, he still felt slow. His raven-like wings were causing too much drag even though they were pulled in close to his body, they were catching the breeze and trying to lift him as he ran. Finally, he gave up and flung his wings out and flew low to the ground in the direction of the docks, skimming along the surface of the waves as they sloshed along the shore. He saw a light glowing from under the docks and he flew toward it before pulling in his wings once more to avoid hitting the pillars holding the docks up. He walked up to the source of the light; a bunch of nexus crystals in a barrel. Nexus crystals were an abundant gem that emitted a harmless form of radiation causing both light and heat. There was only one person there by the barrel. It was Landon. A skinny, very fit, merman. His hair was a long sea foam green and his webbed fin-like ears pointed out through it. He wore no shirt and only a slightly tight pair of purple shorts. His skin was tan with a greenish hue.
“Hello, Wings.” Landon said in a laid back tone.
“Hey, Gills.” Kaldon joked back.
“So what brings you down my way?” He asked with a seductive tone finding its way into his question. “I’m afraid I don’t have any of the cute little fledglings you have a taste for, but perhaps you’d be willing to get your wings wet?”
“Look, I don’t have time for the usual pleasantries, no matter how pleasant.” He grinned back. “I need to get in touch with an Oracle. You know how to get in touch with a lot of different people, do you know where I could find one?”
“What do you need an Oracle for? I mean, I knew you had expensive taste, but…”
“Oh, for fuck sake!” Kaldon interrupted. “Get your mind out of the sewer. I found a hilt from a blade of some kind, every time I touch it I get these creepy visions of death and destruction. They’re vivid and realistic, as if I were there in person. Only an Oracle can tell me what’s going on.”
“Can I see it?”
“Yeah, here…” He broke off as he searched his pockets for the hilt. “Shit it’s gone! Where could it have… the tiger! He caused the distraction and the avian lifted it.” He suddenly realized what happened.
“Shit, dude. That thing sounds valuable; you need to get that back before he tries to sell it. While you do that, I’ll get the word out in the ocean that I need an Oracle.”
Kaldon flew off back in the direction of the bar. He loaded an image of the hilt from his memory into his optic implant and set it to scan on all visual wave lengths for it. He got to the door of the bar and flung the door open. He scanned the room and found a match in the pocket of the avian he had seen earlier when he scanned him using the x-ray spectrum of his implant. Now how to go about getting it back from him without making a scene.
He walked up to the avian and tapped him gently on the shoulder. “Excuse me, sir? I believe you may have come across something that… I lost. I don’t care if you keep the cash, but I would like the hilt back. It has sentimental value.”

Ro-an grunted in concern the moment the doors to the tavern flung open again and he glanced sidelong at Kylin just as his beer arrived for him. Victor had muttered some nonsense about keeping his head clear for danger and had ordered an iced coffee instead. As promised Kylin twirled a flowery umbrella between his teeth a decorated dish of crab and mussels splayed before him along with some sickeningly sweet beverage in three discernible colors fashioned after the tropical sunrise. Kylin felt the tap on his shoulder and leaned back in his barstool, letting it tip dangerously as he looked upside down at the stranger. He spit the umbrella at his face and smiled teasingly. "Dunno what you're talking about, sir. Want to try some crab? It's really good." He offered a leg to the man balancing effortlessly on one chair leg. Only Victor seemed to have the shifty look of someone with bad news written all over him as he stared at Kalden with his sunken dark eyes, daring him to make a scene in there. Ro-an didn't seem to notice him at all, enveloping his attention over the massive seared fish he had been served.

Kylin let his chair fall back to its natural position and his eyes widened as he stared at Kaldon. "Are those real cybernetics? I've always wanted some! Let me see!" Without warning he leapt to his feet and grabbed both sides of Kaldon's face to bring it close to him. He stared into the man's eyes, turning his face to see where the machine met the man. "You have very nice eyes. Can you see through things??!"

He lowered his voice abruptly to a whisper, an eyebrow arching as his eyes glinted. "Can you see me naked right now? That would be cool. A little creepy though. You're not spying into my pockets are you? I know I did it first but that's unfair, you have robot eyes."

His cheery tone slowly seemed to drip away as he spoke, his smile growing false, making it seem as if if he found out the man had been taking a peek inside he'd poke both of his eyes out. He let the man's face go and leaned back on the bar, crossing his arms. He spoke in a louder tone, so that the nearer people could hear him speak, irritated and offended."I don't know what you mean by hilt, I find it a bit rude you're assuming I had something to do with your misplacement."

Kaldon saw through this avian’s little game. The kid was arrogant and headstrong. He had no idea that Kaldon knew most of the staff as well as half the regulars. The only reason he wanted to avoid making a scene was because he didn’t want to embarrass Brandie. He could see now that, in order to get the hilt back, he would have to take this kid down a peg or two.
After the kid had raised his voice in an attempt to defuse the make a scene, Kaldon gave a huge grin. It wasn’t a normal grin; it was the grin of a confident person who knew more than he let on. He knew it was pissing the kid off as well. He turned and took a seat at the table directly behind the three thieves and took his helmet off which made him look even more intimidating as the scar from his injury was visible from the middle of his left eyebrow to the middle of his cheek. The optic implant was completely contained within his skull and what looked like a blank white lens filled the socket where his eye would normally be.
“Well, as a matter of fact, yes I can see into your pockets.” He sneered at the trio. “I can see the hilt in your pocket, but I can also see so much more. I can see through your fancy armor there, I can also see every major vital organ in your body, as well as both of your friends.” His grin widened as his optic projected little red dots all over the bodies of the three of them. “And you know what’s great about this little thing?” He tapped the optic implant. “It’s not just a tool, it’s a weapon. All I have to do is think about it and you’ll all have so many laser holes in you that you’ll look like fancy cheese. However, there is the matter of the armor you and your kitten there are wearing. If it’s anything like mine, a simple laser would be reflected and we don’t want a bunch of innocent people getting hurt.” Suddenly all the dots disappeared except for a single dot in the center of each of their foreheads that moved along with them as the targets were locked. “You guys know what burning flesh, bone and brain smells like? Do you want to? I mean, I don’t even have to kill you. I could lobotomize the three of you and make a salad.” He started to chuckle at the joke. “Get it? Because I’d have three big vegetables. And that’s just the optic implant, you don’t even want to know what this thing can do.” He lifted his left arm and held his hand in a rigid position, the claws at the fingertips of the armor, though actually a part of the cybernetic prosthetic, looked like talons. His hand then began spinning like a power drill. His tone quickly shifted to a serious one as he stood up and took a step closer to the kid and stopped the whirling hand. "So, fledgling, are you going to hand over the hilt?” He asked as he ran a finger up his cheek to his forehead. “Or do I have to mess up this pretty face of yours?” His tone seductive yet scary at the same time.

For the first time in a long time Kylin was taken completely by surprise.

He hated surprises.

His momentary speechlessness broke immediately however the moment the word fledgeling came sliding out of this Avian's slippery little tongue. Slight strands of his rich cherry blond hair trembled as he straightened his stance his cool blue gaze darkening as he fought to remain neutral in his expression. He could feel so many eyes on him, too many eyes, how had he missed the fact that they were familiar with the bastard. He stuffed his hand inside the turqoise overhang that went over his armored arm and draped partway across his back and yanked the hilt out of the pocket hidden within the ripples of fabric. Victor, who hand put a hand on his own hilt and moved halfway to standing peered over at Ro-an who had clenched his massive paws into fists. They had no qualms with shattering the peaceful controlled environment of the tavern the moment Kylin asked them to

"If you honestly think someone like me is anywhere near comparable to those.....preteen cumsluts you no doubt hire any time your crotch gets clogged you are sorely mistake-..." He gasped slightly and his eyes glazed over as in the midst of twirling the handle between his finger tips something jolted up his arm completely bypassing the wards in his armor and yanking his mind out of the moment. Flashes of images, sounds, smells, and scenes poured directly into his mind and in the moment it took for his grip to fail on the hilt and for it to hit the ground the apocalyptic forwarning was completely transplanted into Kylin's mind. "Ah-...."

He blinked, hard and put a palm to his forehead. "What the......fuck..."

He immediately kicked the hilt across the wooden floor away from himself. "Take the damn thing, it's not worth this shit. Get the fuck out of my face and let me eat my damned food." He made a dismissive swipe with his hand as if shooing an abnoxious stray and sat back at the bar, turning his back to him. He was infuriated. He could feel the bartender's raised eyebrows and Kaldon's amusement. Fucking lasers. Fledgeling. Ugh. Victor sighed and leaned forward on the bar letting his sword arm relax. "We're not finished here are we..."

"Fuck no." Kylin muttered. He was going to have to do a little research that afternoon, and quickly, before the fucker flew on to the next tavern fifty miles from there. If he wanted to pay that little humiliation back he'd have to get three steps ahead. Game on.

Tikal had been looking around to see where she landed when she froze, her wings mid-flutter. Her skin crawled with that feeling of being watched, her ears catching the low and rumbling voice of her white bull.

"This one..." she heard him say, and when she whirled around to see which 'one' he was talking about, her face split into a doofy grin upon seeing his thumb pointed back towards her.

"Me..?" She moved left while poking herself in the chest with her forefinger. His thumb was still pointing at where she previously was. "No no.. he couldn't.." she whispered. "Me?" Now she moved right and the excitement her body expressed caused her wings to begin fluttering, which helped lift her small form an inch off of the snow covered ground. His thumb was still pointing.
Realization that was previously being held back now burst to the surface, her wings pulsing with vibrant colors as she squealed. "Me! He means me! Me me! Not you!" She pointed to a tree on her right. "Not you!!" She pointed at the snow bank she fell into. "Me! Just me! Meeeeee~!" she sang while starting to dance over to her prize and turn in circles.

"Ha chachachacha!" She tapped her toes in the snow and pumped her arms. "Look at this! Chosen! By such a fine rarity!" Pushing her fingers against her mouth she giggled like a court maiden who was winked at by a prince. "White fur.. " she mooned over his left shoulder. "Intricate tattoos.." she switched to his left while completely, but not purposefully avoiding the arrows in his back. Then she came around and bent over to stare into his face with round, wide, and blue pools of awe. "And what a beautiful.. big.. wet nose you have.. Gosh I just want to touch i- And those dark equin eyes!" She made her giggling sound again, dropping into a seat on her heels. "Are you staring into my soul right now~? I want you to. Go on." She finally ended her rant with another stupid and lasting grin. Her chin was being held in her hands and her wings created a warm buzzing sound as she stared at Vanarak.

It was the winged armor that responded to her...
"How convenient that one would have such an item," he remarked drily. Nyx noted his hand on his sword as he added "Almost too convenient..."

"Convenient for me...Not so much for the goblins I killed to get it..." Nyx said darkly. "What matters is I have a map right to the home of the creature we seek... I could have easily left you three bumbling though the woods but I know that even I can't take on a troll and his goblin army alone so I chose to trust you."

Nyx paused and looked right at the winged armor " So will we work together or will you draw that sword thinking me evil and share the goblin's fate?"

Vanarak found himself completely dumbfounded, Again. The elf had taken his suggestion and together with his fairy he was scouting the cavern. He was quietly observing the woods from which he had heard the sounds of heavy armor, Expecting and preparing for the other fairy to start attempting to remove the arrows, But that was not at all what happened.

It only took a moment before Vanarak heard several very excited sounds behind him. The fluttering of her wings accompanied by small
Me's
. Vanarak didn't care much for it. He thought at first that she was simply being hesitant and questioned why just she had to help him, It was the usual thing that most people do when they are forced to do anything with him. But her small sounds only got louder, and soon enough Vanarak could hear the amount of pure, Joy in her voice. And with that she started happily proclaiming
Me! He means me! Me me!
all the while throwing her arms out in random directions. Vanarak had not a single clue about her reaction, He had never experienced any of the sort.

She suddenly twirled directly to him, Reaching the ground while still gesturing like an Overjoyed schoolgirl. She started to swoon over him, all the while followed by Vanarak's now curious gaze. She was noting every slight detail about him. All from his eyes to his fur. Until she suddenly sat herself down beside him, Like exhausted from her outburst. Her eyes seemed to have increased several sizes to fit with her wide smile.
Are you staring into my soul right now? I want you to, go on.

Vanarak had completely forgotten about his arrows, just the way that the fairy also probably did, He was far to busy attempting to talk with her. Vanarak was someone who could talk, he knows what to say although his appearance rarely allows him to have a good conversation. But he, as said, Found himself completely dumbfounded. Only staring directly into bright blue eyes meeting his. "Your soul? Hrmh, What is there to say, You certainly seem, Interesting" Was she not afraid of him in the slightest? Not on her guard or anything? Her wings was still gently vibrating, For a moment Vanarak thought that he could have been struck by magic, Been charmed. He switched the grip on his axe, Laying it down across his lap. He had never been so... Overwhelmed, And he kinda enjoyed it.

#, as written by Jaek
Drake had just recovered from the noblegirl's shouting and uncanny grip when a voice behind the three sprung up. He, like the other two, whirled around towards the source to find a rather depressing figure. Thin, lanky, pale, and lithe, Drake's mind flit from adjective to adjective as he looked the dark elf up and down.

He didn't blame the suit of armor for being skeptical of the elf's intentions. Anyone who looked tall, dark, and broody would elicit distrust from any sane individual. Given the incessant shouting going on past the treeline the now-four were standing at, it seemed not everyone present was entirely sane.

Drake fought the urge to dig his canteen out of his coat to take a swig and instead flexed his grip on his sword's hilt before speaking. "I, personally, would rather cause more similar fates to the rest of their kind here than meet one myself. We're more likely to succeed against the troll and his goblins with numbers than if we were to go in individually." He pulled down his furred hood to look squarely at each person around him, instantly regretting it as soon as he felt the biting cold. "I'm not the sentimental type, and speeches aren't my thing, so convince yourselves to stay or go. Lead the way, elf."

Lailah's eyes gleamed in attention, as another joined their company. A dark elf female, with a dour frown on her lips, and a gloomy look in her eyes. Alexander seemed wary as the elf proposed her map. With brows raised in alarm, she quickly looked between the two, eager to intervene before an altercation broke out.

Thankfully, 'Nobody' beat her to the punch, and coolly, concisely, asserted his opinion on the matter. Lailah nodded once, her face beaming. "I am of a mind with Sir Nobody! Strength in numbers and all that," she added. As they began to follow, the young fencer, barely half the armored avian in height, nudged him and grinned from ear to ear.

"Don't worry, Sir Alexander! I shall protect you, if it needs be," she confidently proclaimed, then flipped her side-ponytail, the brown locks bouncing sprightly. With utmost conviction, she emphasized,"This, I swear!"

As they continued walking, an ever-smiling Lailah looked between 'Nobody' and the surly elf. Such a sullen group. She hoped she could bring a bit of sunshine to the three, at least!

"Oh, by the way, Miss Elf! If I may be so bold, I think you would look three times as pretty with a smile on your face!" She suggested while wagging her finger. The blue-eyed noble then turned back to the nameless rogue, inquiring blithely,

"Wouldn't you agree, Sir Nobody?"

While still not inclined to trust the elf, who proved to be as conceited as any other, Alexander could see merit in the points raised by both Lailah and 'Sir Nobody'. "Very well, but I must warn you, even a lowly guardsman can make short work of a goblin. Overconfidence in one's abilities can lead to a swift death." Without another word, he followed them, ever alert for any threat that might present itself.

His attention was quickly drawn to the young noblewoman nudging him in the side, offering to protect him from danger. Him! A sky knight! Alexander found himself laughing slightly at the thought. "I shall bear that in mind, should I require your aid," he replied good-naturedly.

As the group walked through the forest, the sky knight kept his wings folded close and his eyes and ears open. Once again he had his sword at the ready in case they ran into the troll before reaching its cave. If the elf wanted to stab them in the back, at least she could hardly do so from the front, which provided a small comfort.

Alexander listened as Lailah suggested that the dour dark elf should put a smile on her face, which elicited another chuckle from the sky knight. It was a rare thing to see a genuine smile from an elf, especially among their nobility, he recalled.

Nyx's souless eyes seemed to darken more as she listened to the group mainly the woman... do you ever shut up? She wanted to ask but controlled herself for now...

" My name's Nyx by the way." Nyx said as she led on her steps barely making a sound. " Map says there is a goblin camp before the cave...I would suggest we sneak around it and go right for the prize...But the lady and the tin can don't seem the sneaking type..."

Nyx paused turning to the others "So any ideas you got? It could help to know what fighting skills we all have as well...Plan an attack based on that...I myself am skilled in stealth and magic."

Tikal gazed at Vanarak as if he was the most beautiful thing she was never going to see again. When he replied to her, she sighed dreamily while he was speaking. "Ya know.. I've never, safely, been this close to a subject before." She told him, her smile having dwindled to something more gentle and content. Then, after sighing again while her eyes drank him in, she hopped up onto her feet and beamed at him once more while placing her fists on her hips. "I'm Tikal! And you not shooing me away after this long means that we'll be fast friends! And if you don't mind at all, I'm going to make us inseparable!" Her wings hummed at the thought. Then she thought about the thought. "Well. Inseperable until I thoroughly study and document you."

Dropping down into a squat again, the human sized yet 5 foot tall Tikal summoned her Bestiary and with a wiggle of her fingers, opened it up to the two pages that were now a tribute to him and him alone. On one was where she'd drawn him in all of his intimidating glamour and the other was where she'd written down all she knew about him from first glance. There was a surprising amount of detail. "See?" She held the book at its base and over her facial features as she showed it to him, only leaving her eyes for him to see. "I've been working at this thing for half of my fairy life! It's my Bestiary, and you're my first major star!!" Her voice gained more excitement as she neared the end of her sentence. Once the word star was said, she snapped the book shut and dismissed it, causing it to vanish in a ripple of air.

There were probably things going on arohnd Tikal that deserved almost half as much attention as she was giving Vanarak. But right no1w she was a collector who'd found something she knew no one else had. So she had to devote all of her attention to it, and whatever it could mean for her.

Yevoc glanced over at the minotaur and the other fairy. They seemed to be otherwise occupied.
“Well, I guess it’s just you and me dragonfly.”
“Oh for fuck sake, my name is Ash!”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m on my way up. Just warn me if the troll comes back.” Yevoc called up to him as he began to climb up the hill to the cave. As he reached the top he was able to see the others that Ash had mentioned earlier. He was no just slightly more cautious when he was able to make out that a Dark Elf seemed to be leading the group. While Dark Elves and Snow Elves didn’t really have anything against each other, Yevoc knew that Dark Elves were not to be trifled with.
“So should we wait for the other two?” Ash asked.
“I think they’re busy, I’m sure they’ll catch up, though, if they’re serious about killing the troll.”
“So what’s your plan, run into the village, swords swinging, freezing everything in sight until you can kill them?” Ash asked sarcastically.
“Well, it was more along the lines of killing and freezing as I go, but basically yeah that was it. Why? You got something better? I doubt you can do much damage with that dagger there, so a little magical backup might be nice.”

Kaldon picked up the hilt from the floor, sure to pick it up using his prosthetic arm. He could tell by the way he trailed off that he had a vision as well, most likely of a similar nature to the ones he had himself. He overheard the spooky-looking one say something about this not being over. He wasn’t terribly worried and he knew that the avian’s friends wouldn’t be able to track him well if he took to the air, and he was hardly the type to do his own dirty work. As he got to the door he briefly considered telling Brandie to cut them off, but he figured they had enough humiliation for the evening.

He walked outside and with a couple of flaps of his wings, he was high into the air. He wasn’t looking forward to where he was going. He hadn’t been there in years, not since the incident. Kaldon landed in the forest at the edge of the town, folded his wings close to his body and made the rest of his journey on foot. He couldn’t shake the feeling he was being followed, but he shook it off thinking there was no way those lackeys could have followed him. After about a mile of walking into the woods, he found his destination. It was a giant tree with a huge root system below. The root system was so massive that it had created a cave below the tree. However, nobody would have known this simply by looking at it. When Kaldon was a teenager he would visit the little ocean-side town every summer at his parents’ summer home. On one of these trips, he had discovered this cave and had set up a holographic projector that was powered by theta crystals which could power a small dwelling like this one, along with the projector, for several thousand years before degrading in power, he enjoyed having a place of his own. He walked right through the small entrance to the large cave by walking right between two big roots even though it looked like solid rock he was able to walk right through the hologram. Once inside the cave he turned on the lights.

Kaldon knew it would be a few days before Landon could get word out about needing an oracle. It would be even longer before he would know if there was even one still alive. He gathered some fire wood and got a small fire going in the fireplace. As he stood there warming himself he looked at the mantle. There, staring him right in the face, was a pain like a fire-dagger to the heart. It was just a simple photo in a small frame, a picture himself and another young man. The person in the picture was his former lover. He was another avian, with a golden shade of blonde hair, thinner and leaner than Kaldon. His skin was a light bronze. His name was Dylex Talon, they met during the great territory war. While Kaldon was in the bases designing weapons to gain the upper hand, Dylex was on the front lines using those same weapons. While in the mess hall one day, Dylex noticed that nobody would sit with Kaldon because he always seemed strange, a little too good at his work and always talking about it. Dylex loved finding out how things worked, especially the weapons he was using in the field. The two became fast friends, and soon after they became more than friends. After the war and Kaldon’s accident, Kaldon had the unpleasant task of telling Brandie that he couldn’t go through with their arranged marriage. She didn’t take it well and, until today, he had tried to avoid seeing her as much as possible. He and Dylex lived there in that cave for about a year, getting supplies from other nearby cities, before the two of them decided to go visit Dylex’s parents in Forestien. However, as they landed in the jungle where Dylex’s parents lived, the two were attacked by a pack of reptilian therians. Kaldon was knocked out first from behind and wasn’t able to do anything to help Dylex. He woke up in the hospital beaten and bruised. Dylex was not as lucky. He was beaten so severely that he had died from his injuries in the night. It was not clear why they were targeted, but all of their money was gone.

Now, as he stood there looking at the last thing he had to remind him of Dylex, tears began to roll down his cheeks. He replayed that night in his mind over and over, searching for anyway he could have saved him, but it didn’t change the fact that Dylex was gone. “I miss you, baby.” He whispered before he set the picture back on the mantle, kissed his fingers and pressed them to the lips of the picture. He turned to go to the bed in the bedroom area of the cave when he heard branches breaking outside. It sounded like something was hunting. He turned out the lights, not that anyone would have seen them, and peered out through the one-sided hologram looking into the night forest using his infrared heat-sensing vision, but saw no signs of anything larger than a raccoon. He brushed it off as nerves and went to bed.

Vanarak was regaining himself, He was still thoroughly surprised by the fact that this small Fae seemed so comfortable by his side. Even soldiers which have had their life saved by him rarely let down their guard when he was close.

Vanarak let out a small muffled laugh when she proclaimed that she had never been
Safely close to a subject before
. Safe, that's certainly not what people feel in his presence. She stood up, Vanarak's gaze still locked on her. Tikal, that was her name. Vanarak was extremely bad with names, But not this time, He would be sure to etch that name into his memory. Tikal continued her gentle rambling, Stating how they would quickly become friends, How they were about to be completely inseparable until her "study" was completed. Vanarak didn't care much for what her "study" might be, He honestly didn't mind Tikal's company and thus didn't really see anything wrong with what she was saying.

Suddenly sitting herself down again, expending her seemingly unending amount of energy. A short movement with her hands, Using her innate magic, Causing a large book to appear in her hands. The book was, Huge, Atleast compared to the Fae wielding it, Like one of those magic tomes that battles had been fought for. Holding it in a mildly cute manner, Like a child proud of her drawings, She showed it to him. Leaning in slightly, Vanarak's curiosity getting the best of him, He took a long glance over the pages detailing him. It was, Impressive, Worryingly so. One of the pages holding a picture of him, Was extremely, well detailed. The tiny text accompanying it, speculating about facts surrounding him. The amount of detail made a small alarm in the back of his head go off. "This is... Very detailed..."

With another small ripple of energy the book dispersed, Just as suddenly as it had appeared

Vanarak had still a hard time wrapping his head around it, Who was she? What is she even doing? He could have easily killed her. Was she incredibly brave or just stupid? But he disregarded the questions, It was nothing that he needed to know, Instead he allowed a small smirk to creep up on him. Lifting his hand of his axe, Softly poking Tikal directly between her eyes
"...But my fur isn't all that shiny like you have drawn it, It's only the snow"

Vanarak could clearly see out of the corners of his vision, It seemed the elf was going. He would need to catch up. But if he really wished to gain any speed then the arrows potruding out of his back would need to be dealt with first.

Excitement bubbled inside the Tamer Fae as she stared at her new devotion. In her head she barely listened to what he was saying, only made plans for the forseeable future. That practice soon ended when Tikal went cross-eyed trying to look at the finger that was suddenly at the center of her face. It made her turn off her buzzing brain to listen to his gently spoken words. "Haha! That wasn't meant to be shimmers! It was meant to be the clouds of snow you kicked up when you came charging up to that elf." She smiled, humming her amusement.

Then, Tikal blinked and the rest of the world came back into focus. Forest. Snow. Troll! Elf. Cousin! "Hey.." she stood up and began looking around. "Where did that elf go anyway.. oh." She looked up the hill just in time to see his leg vanish over the lip of a cave. She hummed curiously and quietly, her nearly transparent wings opening and closing just once. "They must be after that Troll King. How brave." She commended while turning to look at Vanarak again.

"Oh! What's your name by the way I what in the heavens!" She jumped and immediately scrabbled around to stand behind him, kicking up snow in her rush. "Oh! Oh no.. My highest apologies! You're such a rarity that I completely forgot about this!" She threw her arms out to gesture to the arrows sticking out of his back. "What a fluff brain I am.. I even sketched them on you.." she shook her head at her own ignorance. "Don't you worry though!" She brightened. "You will feel some pain. But it will be relieved as fast as it comes! Ready?"
And then she didn't wait for any signal that he was. She simply snatched out the first arrow and tossed it aside in the same motion. Then, by the time it hit the snow, she was drawing a circle around the entry wound with her finger. Vanarak should feel as if she were rubbing ice all around the shallow hole, which would soothe the throbbing he was sure to be feeling after she snatched out the arrows. Then, after soothing the immediate pain Tikal would set to work directing healing runes, that she made in the air with her fingers, around the wound that would treat any goblin concocted infection. She would do this until it stopped bleeding and the visible flesh, if any, was a healthy red again. She did this again and again after snatching out arrow after arrow. And all while humming softly.

Vanarak continued his streak of being surprised, The small arrows weren't much. But without any of Vanarak's usual rage and bloodlust he had none of the immunity to pain. Through the entire process it would be seen how Vanarak was tensing his entire body, his hands tightly clenching the axe sprawled across his lap. One would think that he was trying to cope with the pain, But in reality he was trying his very best to remain calm. The smell of his own blood, It would perhaps had been overwhelming if it weren't for the gentle healing that Tikal was forcing on him. He cursed himself in his mind. These are just goblin arrows! They barely hurt! Why are you getting so worked up!? If one thing was clear, then it would definitely be how incredibly good Tikal was at what she was doing. The swift removal followed up by direct healing kept almost any blood from escaping, even the soft humming that was emanating from Tikal was almost, Soothing. It took a few arrows until Vanarak felt he had full control of himself. He visibly relaxed, The remaining arrows going without a hitch.

Throwing his head back, His right eye locating Tikal. "That's better, Thank you.." The last arrow being loosened from him, Not waiting for any of the pain relieving or magic runes he rose from the ground, Suprisingly quickly and agile for someone of his size. Taking one quick step forward, Like to test himself, and with a smile turning towards Tikal "...Now I hope you aren't afraid of blood or anything like that, Becuse if you are to study me, Vanarak the White Bull. Then you are going to get, a lot, of that."

A wide smile crossed Vanarak. He felt fired up, more so than usual. The arrows was out, The general low damage they caused in the first place being healed made Vanarak feel like he was completely on top again. With a a loud laugh he suddenly started running towards the stone wall leading to the cavern. He dived straight towards the wall, Gaining a suprising amount of air. The entire motion was quite terrifying as Vanarak swung his axe in a wide arc along with it, Plunging it deeply into the stone. A loud crash echoed from it. For a moment there was only dust until Vanarak yelled happily. "Keep up now Tikal, We are going to have some fun!" Releasing his left hand, and grabbing a nearby stone potruding from the wall, Vanarak used his right hand, Holding his, axe to swing upwards again, And then swinging himself up the wall. Repeating the motion, Loud crunching sounds being heard each time he swung his axe.

A small witty thought crossed Vanarak. He was going to make this really enjoyable

"FIRST ONE TO REACH THE TROLL KING GETS THE BOUNTY"

Vanarak's voice was cacophonous. Echoing up through the cavern and out across the forest, Even the goblins in the village would be able to hear it. It was a formal challenge, To everyone.

#, as written by Jaek
Drake shrugged with indifference at the noblegirl's question and gave a monotonous "Sure." He hadn't exactly looked hard at the Dark Elf's face. There was something about dark magic that gave him the creeps. He fought the urge to shiver, unsure if it was induced by the freezing cold or the thought of those dark, sunken eyes. Normally had he teamed up with just the Dark Elf there would be more conversation and displays of faked bravado as a means to keep her, and himself really, entertained or distracted. At least in a group of two others who looked ten times more trustworthy he could relax just slightly.

As they continued on Nyx, the map-holder and resident Dark Elf previously mentioned, walked in the lead and mentioned plans for a strategy. Drake wasn't exactly used to working with companions. It'd been two years since he could really say he had any companions. Then again, perhaps companion was a strong word. These were more like teammates. Yeah, temporary teammates. As soon as the troll was slain and reward collected they would all likely go their separate ways. Drake sighed silently, drifting his thoughts back over to the task at hand.

There was no doubt everyone present was an exceptional fighter. Two were nobility, and as much as he disliked the snobby aristocratic bastards in power, these two seemed alright. Nyx, with no surprise, was good with stealth and magic. Stealth. Stealth. Drake's eyes brightened up. "Nyx, you could go in and disrupt the enemy. Cause absolute chaos at their camp. I don't know if you can go invisible or anything, but if you can stealth in there and start wreaking havoc, it's bound to get the goblins' attention and draw out the troll." He realized how excited his tone was becoming and brought it down a little with a cough and nonchalant throat clearing.

He looked at the Avian. "Uhh... Sir Alexander," he said with no effort to hide the irony in his voice. "While they're distracted, you could fly up and in, make yourself a moving target in the sky, maybe do some hit and run."

Then he looked at Lailah. "And while those two distract the others, Miss No-" He caught himself. "Miss Telias and I can charge in from the front. Once the troll is drawn out and casualties have been inflicted upon the goblins we can collapse in on the troll." He grinned widely, his partially yellowing teeth showing. "Eh? How is that?" He stiffened at the sudden baritone shout that rang out across the forest and surrounding area. "Perhaps we ought to hurry as well."

"Teehee!" A giggle escaped Lailah's lips. She held a fist to the chin of her beaming face, in response to Alexander's answer. He had a far more tender disposition than she expected, like a giant teddy bear. In a suit of steel. With gallant eagle wings.

Nyx! It was good to know the dark elf's actual name, Lailah thought. But the fencer soon huffed and puffed at her comment, "I'll have you know, I was the fifth best sneak in my class!" a remark she delivered, while her suit of chain rustled with every step.

"Eh...," Lailah paused, glanced to the sky, and stroke her chin. "...O-out of....six, that is...," she whispered with substantial embarrassment.

Lailah was thankful when 'Nobody' came and expanded upon Nyx's plans. She looked between 'Nobody' and Nyx, then Alexander, as he provided each of them roles which played to their strengths. There was confidence in his voice. Bold. Clear. Assertive. She couldn't help but wonder...

When 'Nobody' gave her his orders, Lailah placed one hand on her hip, then made a fist with the other, and winked. "You've got it, Captain!" she replied, with glee to match his own enthusiasm. Her eyes widened slightly, however, at the sight of his teeth. One could argue that they matched the rest of his rugged looks, but...

There was a fine line between 'ruggedly handsome' and 'worryingly unhygienic'. A very fine line.

Still, it was not the time to discuss such matters. She could assist him with some toothpaste later. A deep roar in the distance alerted them of a not too distant trouble. Her mind back in the game, Lailah drew her thin silver blade, and pointed it to the sky.

"Comrades, for Gialpha, we FIGHT!"

The violent rumble of Ro-an's motorcycle rolled and settled to a guttural purr as he skidded to a stop a mile off from the treeline. He shut the engine off and peered into the wall of shadow before him just as Kaldon disappeared into the trees. It would be easier to tail him now, nothing more than tracks and scent trails, just like he was taught as a cub.

Sure, approaching in a motorbike was the last thing one would suggest in a stealth mission to tail someone but he was after an Avian and no amount of running, even on all fours would keep him in sight. Ro doubted the man was concerned enough to watch the traffic below anyways. He didn't know Kylin. He didn't know what a spiteful bastard he was.

"The man'll learn..." He muttered. Ro-an smirked to himself and climbed off of his bike. He tugged the gauntlets tied to his belt off and slid them onto his paws, clenching and unclenching his fists, ready for a fight just in case. He walked across the clearing separating the road from the trees and followed the light, hardly noticeable trail Kaldon had made beforehand.

"Follow him, and keep him here, whatever it takes" Kylin had ordered. No doubt he was planning to do some recon and research of his own. It was beyond him what it was he wanted with the Avian aside from putting him in his place, but Ro intended to do exactly as he was told.

Ro-an had arrived at the tree with the hologram. He slowed, crouched and narrowed his eyes just as the tip of the man's black wings phased through the false stone.

He waited...for ten minutes...then twenty, then his impatience got the better of him and he stood. As long as the man stayed there in Meadhold he could do as he pleased. Why the hell not see the man face to face. It was the honorable way to go about all this as opposed to sneaking around and ambushing. He rose to his feet, brushed dirt from his shins and strode boldly up to the facade. "Winged man, I know you're here, I'd like to speak to you face to face."
