Whats on The Inside

{Intelligent, Careful, Gentle, Understanding}

A smart girl, who rarely applies her knowledge to things outside of her own interest. She could likely do many things with her life after high school but she has no desire to advance in her life beyond where she is now. She is one of those people who is understanding of others feelings, because she knows what it is like to feel certain things. Depression among many of her problems is one thing she is most sensitive to, and she seems to always know what to say to her friends when they come to her with their problems. And while she is understanding it is her gentle nature that most draws people to her. She isn't intimidating, or known for her anger, and that makes her someone that most people can talk to without fear. While these things all add up to make her a good person there is always another side to her that shows her true colors, and the things that she would never let someone see.

{Deceptive, Dishonest, Manipulative, Meek}

She isn't widely known for keeping secrets and lying, but that alone attests to her ability to keep her private thoughts and life under wraps. Most of all her nature as someone who isn't intimidating comes into play the most when working her magic. She can charm those that trust her most into sharing their secrets with her without batting an eyelash, and later use it to her advantage. Though most of the time she can keep her deceptive nature hidden there are a few times when it comes out into the light. As such there are quite a few people in the world who have felt the sting of her betrayal, but people continue to trust her. Shes been a chronic liar since a young age, developing the habit for survival of the constant pressure put upon her at that time. She never could manage to shake off this habit, but finds it rather useful when trying to manipulate others into doing what she wants, or telling her certain information that she may need.

A History Worth Remembering

(WARNING: Extremely long winded history forthcoming.)

Family || Friends
Evan Grier - Older Brother/Legal Guardian
Flora Grier - Mother/Deceased
Duncan Grier -Father/Whereabouts unknown

Born in Perth, her life up until age Eight was rather stunningly boring. Nothing of great importance or note, no family deaths, no overwhelming illness, no random adventures that could equate her life to that of a fairytale. No, Jaime Greir lived a boring life. Average grades, average family, average life. Until of course the day that all changed. Jaime had always hoped beyond all hopes that she would some day break free of the mundane. To become like the children in her fantasy adventure books, the ones she never returned to the library all those years ago. But never in all her dreams had she imagined the utter devastation it would bring upon her. To begin her life as a fairytale, she would have to lose herself completely. And at the young age of Eight years old she did. She lost herself, and everything she knew forever.

Because that year began with a cough. Something so small, so simple that nobody could have noticed, or if they did nobody said anything about it. Not until the cough turned worse, became something more than just a tiny little cough. It became the end, for Jaime, for her family. That cough, a single hint of illness present within her mother caused a massive change to happen. As she grew sicker, and sicker still Jaime found herself living every day on edge, wondering when it would finally happen. When her mother would finally die. They spent months preparing for it, but not even the doctors knew when exactly it would happen. They made her comfortable at home, have Jaimes father the list of things to do in order to take care of her, and yet as the days grew longer Flora continued on. Struggling with every breath, every word, and of course this was when Jaime Greir, the completely average eight year old girl realizes the fault of her one dream. Fairytales don't begin happy, and neither do they end that way.

She was the one waiting at her mothers bedside when she died, on a normal Tuesday evening after school. Jaime had been telling Flora about her day, about all the things she learned at school when she noticed that the rasping breaths her mother usually took were no longer present. And at first it was as if she had fallen asleep, eyes shut, mouth parted in what could have been a snore at any other time. By the time Jaimes brain caught up with her, well, she had already subjected herself to the permanent mental image of her mother laying dead. Something that has stayed with her to this day. She sees that image every time she closes her eyes, a reminder to never forget the moment.

After that things went back to simple, for a while. The funeral was held later that month, a beautiful ceremony that ended all to quickly. Her older brother had even flown home for it. The following months were dull, and the years after that were even duller. Up until the point things changed again. Her father, the poor man had been hanging onto the last bits of his sanity for quite some time. Exacerbated of course by raising his teenage daughter all alone. Even at thirteen Jaime was quite a handful, in a subtle way of course, she never was one for being moody out loud. Though she was one for paving her own way to trouble, and oh the trouble she managed to get herself into. Whether it be a clever way of insulting a teacher, or a simple lie spread to hurt others. She always managed to find trouble in any way she could. He supposed it was simply teenage rebellion, but there had always been something a little wrong with Jaime.

It wasn't until the final straw that he realized she had a problem, a serious one that he had no idea how to fix. She had been damaged worse than he had been, and while he didn't quite know the extent he knew that he could not help her. So he enlisted help from the only other person he knew that could. He reached out to Evan, his step-son in hopes that he would know how to help. Because Evan had gone to school for this type of thing, the treatment of the mentally ill. And while Evan couldn't treat her officially he decided that keeping an eye on Jaime would be the best thing for everyone. So that following month plans were made to move her halfway across the world, to Canada, where her brother had set up his home.

Its funny how just a short time living away from her family home, and that constant reminder of what she had witnessed as a child, Jaime began to get better. Of course she wasn't healed, not fully, but the depression and anxiety were gone. However the daydreaming had remained, and the fantasy world that Jaime had retreated to in her time of need was still a fully functioning side of her. At age 17 she had managed to suppress certain memories and feelings in order to live as happily and normally as possible. However...

Being chosen like this, out of all the people in the world. All those billions of people more special, more famous, more of everything that Jaime could never be... well, now thats where the fairytale really begins.
