Obviously, Felix wished he could complain about work. But it really wasn't that bad, considering there was no power so it wasn't like he could be sitting at home playing video games, and he really only had to do any work when customers came in- which wasn't that often anymore now that... well now that everything had happened. Turns out actual music stores just weren't all that popular anymore, oh well. It gave him more time to just sit and relax, even as he complained about being bored and about stupid Apple making their stupid iPods and iPhones and iPads... not that they were really usable anymore either. He knew that recently, the boss had let most of her workers go because they weren't getting much business- and he knew she was getting awfully close to her eighteenth birthday. Of course, he could only be thankful to learn that he was one of the ones that were allowed to stay. Unfortunately, most of the others couldn't say the same. Sitting up, he left his book on the counter and moved away from it to fetch a guitar from one of the stands.

After playing for quite awhile, he realized that it was almost the end of his shift and considering no one was coming in, he could probably leave. Standing up, he replaced the guitar on the stand and then grabbed his black and green Monster drawstring bag, throwing it on his back before leaving the store. His motorcycle was parked just outside- something he had learned to drive when he was twelve- and he was on it and at the beach within five minutes. After parking the bike he made his way out onto the sand, ending up sitting atop a sand hill near the top of the beach and watching some blonde pick up trash.

Allison sat on a bench and watched this blond chick pick up trash, this girl had already picked up like 5 bags of trash, and was still at it. Suddenly she felt someone else on the beach and looked up, seeing this guy sitting a-top a hill, watching the blond girl pick up trash. She recognized him, he worked at the music store she constantly went in to. He still hadn't noticed her, probably because she worked to be invisible, and that was fine with her.

Standing up, she grabbed the skateboard at her feet, and realized that she had no where to go, its not like she had school, or a curfew to be at, since this stupid disease wiped out more than half the population. She had a job at the local coffee shop, but people hardly went in there anymore. Shrugging, she sat back down, but realized she had now called attention to herself, both the blonde girl and music guy had noticed her. Putting her headphones in so she didn't have to make conversation with anyone, she turned away and put her hood up. Almost immediately after turning away, she felt someone her. Rolling her eye's she turned around and stared at music guy.

Dani Cuppari

Dani sat in her room, on her bed. The jade green cloth underneath her was cool. Her younger sister Fay sat indian style on the ground in front of her. Dani was fixing the little girls hair into a braid. Earlier in the year, when their parents had passed Dani forced all her siblings to get short haircuts or buzz cuts (depending on gender). But Fay's hair was growing long again and there wasn't money for a haircut so the long french braid would have to do for now. When Dani finished the braid she tied it off with a ribbon and stood up.

"Fay I gotta go pick up Mick and Kyle, they are at the beach." Dani said taking her little sister into the kitchen of their apartment.

"Alright" Fay said, knowing she would be left alone at the apartment till Dani returned. With that the two parted and Dani left the building.
One thing the brunette had kept that was her mom's was there jeep. It got horrible gas milage but Dani had failed to get a better car and so she was stuck with this one.The poor girl climbed into the seat and started the car. When Dani first started driving she felt guilty, not having a license and all. But she learned quickly the basic rules of the road and she was always careful when she drove.

So as she reached the beach, Dani saw her two brothers 8 and 10 years old playing in the sand with a few other friends of the older boy, Kyle. She called for them and waved at them. Only to be given the 5 more minutes signal. Dani sighed and waited. Looking around she saw only two other people on the beach she wasn't familiar with. One was a girl picking up trash from the beach. That was nice of her, Dani thought. The other person the brunette noticed was a boy about her age sitting atop a sand hill. She only glanced at him though since he was closer and she didn't want to be caught staring. Dani leaned against her car and watched for a moment still waiting for her brothers.

Felix continued watching the blonde girl, who had already picked up what seemed like a thousand bags of trash. Finally she seemed to relent, as if realizing that no matter how much work she put in, it wasn't making a difference. When she disappeared from view, he laid back on the sand, crossing his arms behind his head and closing his eyes. It was a lot more peaceful like this, just to be able to ignore everything, forget that your world was coming to an end. And instead of looking at all the trash, at the obnoxious teens running about, he could just listen to the ocean, or the radio in his head playing all his favorites. It was really nice, even though he couldn't actually listen to his music anymore, it was still there. It was all he needed too, him and his guitar. Until he reached eighteen and dropped dead.

A red head a bit a ways down the beach stood up, drawing his attention towards her. Though eventually she sat back down and he was otherwise distracted with a girl passing by a few yards away- the same one that was picking up trash before. Unfortunately, all her hard work had gone to waste, more trash had just washed up on shore while she was gone. Standing up, he slowly makes his way down to the water, now only a yard or two from the blonde. "Why bother?" He called over the waves.

Dani glanced over at Sabrina.
"Thanks for cleaning some of the beach..." Dani mumbled to her. She didn't want to come off to the girl as mean or rude for not talking to her. She looked familiar, Sabrina that is. They might have gone to school together, long ago maybe. Sabrina seemed to be paying little attention to her.
"Where are you from?" Dani asked hoping it wasn't too weird of her to ask. Dani had lacked having any friends for the past few years. She was always too busy keeping her siblings alive and healthy. Maybe it would be nice to have a friend that actually cared about the beach and its cleanliness.

Dani looked at the girl again. Still unsure of her name.
"I gotta go sorry!" Dani smiled and pressed the gas pedal lightly. The boys had buckled their seat belts. Dani drove the car off the beach and back towards the houses hoping to get dinner started soon. She began to talk to the boys as she drove.

"You know maybe you boys should start helping clean the beach, all your friends could too." She glanced to the back seat of the jeep. They didn't seem interested in the conversation though.

Dani pulled into the small driveway they owned and helped Mick out of the car.
"What's for dinner?" He asked, Dani gave him a piggy back ride all the way into the house and kyle trailed behind.
"Well as long as Savanna did her job we should have fish!" Dani put Mick down.

Their house was busy, the kids were everywhere. Terra at the stove had made a fire and the fish was almost done cooking. Savanna was playing paper dolls with Fay and the boys ran off to their room. Dani yelled after them.

"Dinner is ready get back in here and wash your hands!" Then Dani set the table with plastic plates and forks and knives. All 6 kids sat down at the table. Dani and Terra at each the head of table. Dani held her hands out and the other kids did the same. Dani lead the small prayer they said every night before eating.

"Thank you Lord for the food you have given us. Thank you Mom and Dad for the life you've gave us. We will eat politely and take nothing for granted, Amen." Dani finished the prayer and the kids charmed in with "Amen" then they began to eat, in silence.

Dani sighed watching her sister go they turned in the opposite direction to see another girl dancing, with earphones on. She was kicking the trash around a little bit. Dani watched with amusement and almost laughed.

Dani looked at her confused.
"Wait!" What are you talking about?" Dani walked up close to her. "Where are the boats???" She looked back to where Terra had ran off. then she ran after Terra. "Terra come with me right now." She pulled Terra back to the girl.
"Can you come with me I can drive you to the boats after I get my family." Dani looked at Sabrina with worried eyes.

Dani smiled. "Wow that's great c'mon" She went to the jeep and flew the door open. Terra jumped into the backseat and Dani started the car. "We just need to get the kids and pack up quickly, it won't take long." She told Sabrina.

"Hey what is your name again?" Dani glanced back at her as they pulled out of the parking lot. The girl drove faster than usual slightly excited about Sabrina's idea. If it actually worked.

"I'm Dani and that's Terra" She quickly said pointing the Terra who in the backseat was playing with some shells she had found on the beach. Dani quickly veered into the driveway of there building and unbuckled her seatbelt. All 3 girls got out of the car and Dani and Terra made there way in the house. "C'mon!" Terra called to Sabrina.

When they got inside Fay was at the counter sharing an apple with Mick for breakfast. It was clear they had just gotten up. Savanna happend to be coming out of the girls room and wrinkled her eyebrows seeing Sabrina. "Who's that?" She asked confused. "This is Sabrina." Dani said quickly then added "Everyone gather around...so basically where is Kyle?" Dani walked into the boys room and saw kyle asleep she threw a pillow at him and told him to come quick. When all 5 kids were in the kitchen Dani told them about the boats she instructed them to each fill 1 pillow case with belongings and they had 10 minutes. Dani pulled Sabrina into the girls room and then began to fill her own pillow case. "Sabrina is there anything you need at your home before we go?"

"Oh" Dani said taking in all the information. She finished getting all her stuff and called for her siblings. This was the last time they would see the small building they called home... Dani packed another pillow case full of the food left in the house and then after counting heads everyone got in the jeep. Dani began to drive and Sabrina gave her directions to where the boats were located. Her siblings all squished in the car Kyles and Fay ended up double buckling.

Dani nods and does and Sabrina says, pulling the kids into the line with her. They all wait patiently for their turn. When they reach the front of the line Dani tells them they need one boat. She's worried about what to do next and looks over to Sabrina.

Dani gives Fay a piggy back ride as they get onto the boat. She holds Micks hand and then they sit down with their pillow cases. Savanna and Terra look eagerly around at water trying to spot sea creatures. Kyle plays with Mick and Fay sits on Dani's lap. The wind feels nice and as they speed along on the boat. This is when Dani realises how dirty she is. Her hair isn't soft and shiny so it might flow nicely in the wind. It's matted and oily. Her face is dirty and she looks at her siblings, they look okay, like orphans but still okay. Dani is suprised by how quickly they reach the main land. The family is rushed off the boat quickly and Sabrina begins to speak with a lady. Dani is shocked by the age of the women. She hadn't seen at adult in years.

When Dani, Sami and the kids reach the farmhouse everyone rushes out to breathe in the fresh air. The kids are eager to explore the land but Dani is cautious. "You can explore later, bring your stuff into the house." Dani says sternly to the kids. Savanna obediently gets out her stuff, the other kids do as she does and Dani looks back to Sami. "You're sure it's okay we stay? I'm sure there is a hotel around here some..." She fades off and sighs. "Thanks for letting us stay" Dani says almost dryly. She walks with Sami into the house and holds Fay's hand as they walk up the porch stairs.
