Linatia

Linatia

0 INK

[Failed RP /cry ] Linatia is a continent on Clanitose that is not ruled by one person. It is full of many different peoples and communities. The leaders of the two major cities on Linatia fight to reign over it.

4,245 readers have visited Linatia since talihashi created it.

MasterfulDude are listed as curators, giving them final say over any conflict & the ability to clean up mistakes.

Introduction

Failed RP /cry

There are two major cities on Linatia, they are called Kullas and Nortim. Aside from these two Cities the rest of the continent is just small communities of people. Some towns and villages, and also some people belonging to no group or village. The leaders of the two cities are at war. They are both trying to bring the whole continent under their control and to eventually become the King or Queen of Linatia.

Kullas is owned by Lord Kullas, who owns a gold and a coal mine. It is on the northern side of the continent but a few days away from the ocean.
Image
Nortim is owned by Lady Nortim, who inherited the city from her family. Nortim is on the south side of the continent and is a City built by the ocean. The port of this city is the primary source of its wealth. Enabling people from other continents to come and trade goods.
Image

Both Kullas and Nortim are conquering as much new territory as they can. And with each new territory they conquer their power and armies grow. Which side will gain control of Linatia? Or will some unknown newcomer join the fight for kingship and cease control?

Feel free to write out some of the story if you feel it necessary for your character. I leave the world open so there is room for creativity from everyone that participates. If you'd like to add another location or village with your character let me know.

For those of you who would rather take a character already in the story that someone else mentions and is not already taken by someone I will put them here below this sentence.
-Lord Kullas - don't need someone to take this role but its available.

-Lady Nortim - don't need someone to take this role but its available.

-Rhia, a maid at the Kings Demise Inn

-Grillian - Innkeeper of the Kings Demise Inn

Ena let out an exasperated sigh and looked at his stomach, "You're leaking," she remarked in a dry tone. Rendahl looked down and cursed. "This blasted body needs to learn to toughen up some."

Grillian came in and put a pitcher of ale on the counter. "I didn't bother with a mug, figured you might as well just drink from the pitcher seeing as you'll probably down it anyways. You couldn't have stayed in bed another day? Damn fool, I just lost 3 silver coins to Rhia because of you. Oh never-mind, I'll see about getting you a bandage to stop the bleeding," Grillian said and walked away once more.

"Well Ena, that table over there in the corner, its mine. I think I'll go over there and sit down a while. I promise not to move out of the inn until you say I've healed enough though. Feel free to join me if you wish." Before he stood up a very large man entered the room, looked around and sat at a table, bellowing for Grillian. He'd be a tough one in a fight Rendahl thought as he made his way over to his table.

"This blasted body needs to learn to toughen up some,” Rendahl muttered in exasperation. Aruna smirked slightly.

When Grillian came, bearing ale, she ordered a light breakfast and asked about getting the ragged tunic washed. The innkeeper tool the thing and examined it. “You sure you even want to bother? I'm sure Rhia has some togs she'd sell ya fer a decent price.”

Aruna shook her head. “I've no money to pay her.” The innkeeper considered that, handing the tunic back, glanced around the inn at his swelling morning rush, and walked over to refill a customer's mug.

"Well Ena, that table over there in the corner, its mine. I think I'll go over there and sit down a while. I promise not to move out of the inn until you say I've healed enough though. Feel free to join me if you wish." Rendahl clutched his pitcher and made his way slowly over to the table. Aruna watched him go, considering his offer momentarily, when Grillian came back, bearing her meal and a mug of milk.

“Tell you what,” Grillian said. “You need some coin, and I need some extra help this morning, what with the traffic on the roads fer this tournament thing. So why don't you tuck this in quick, then go in the kitchen and grab yerself an apron and go help Rhia on her rounds. I'll see you get enough to buy yourself some clothes and whatever else you may need. Deal?” He smiled at Aruna and held out a calloused hand.

Aruna returned the smile shyly and shook his hand. “Deal,” she replied. She set to the task of eating, and had downed her meal within moments. Collecting her dishes and the ragged tunic, she made her way into the kitchen to start her first shift as a barmaid.

Jaknir watched a man in an apron amble over to his table. "Ah, my good man!" Jaknir said to the man. "I need meat, and lots of it" Reaching into a pouch on his belt he pulled out crudely beaten out gold discs. "I have no coin from this land but this should suffice yes?"

Grillian took the gold and started back to the kitchen. Jaknir leaned back and looked at all the patrons. "Some one here must have some kind of news" he thought to himself. He looked over to the man in the bandages and smiled to himself. Standing up he made his way over to the table where the wounded man sat.

"Ho there" he said when he reached the table. "My name is Jaknir Von Ulfr Bani, son of Joeflnir Von Ulfr Bani, son of Broenar Von Ulfr Bani and you my good man must have a tale to tell with those wounds"

Aruna arrived in the kitchen as Rhia was busily balancing several platters on her arms. “Grillian asked me to--” she started.

“Oh good, yer 'ere!” the stressed barmaid exclaimed. “'Ere, take these, would you. They're for Rendahl and the big guy at the table by the door, the blonde one with the muscles.” Rhia gave a girlish little growl when she described the patron, and Aruna grinned, giving her a teasing look. “What? A girl needs a little look now an' again!” Rhia replied merrily, and shoved two platters at Aruna.

Aruna took the platters and headed out the door into the dining area. She looked around briefly, trying to ascertain the whereabouts of the two men. Rendahl was in his previously indicated booth, talking with a blonde man who made even the well-muscled Grillian look like a gangly teenage boy. Being as he was the only tall, muscular blonde in the room, Aruna assumed that was the customer Rhia had described, and made her way toward the booth.

Smirking, Kayben watched as the barbarian-looking figure. He was acting like an arrogant fool... The thing that he hated the most. And quite a long name, too.
He was making his way to the table of the injured man and the barbarian when he encountered the familiar woman he had seen from before. Mayhaps she was with one of the men at the table? No matter. Manners would be manners wherever they would be, whether it be the mountains or the mines of Kullas.

"Greetings, fine woman. What business would you have?" Kayben said. He watched the necklace at her neck. Odd, haven't I seen that before? Let's see... Kullas Thieves' Guild? One of the business transactions, it had something a lot like this. How interesting... Maybe later I'll investigate. For now I have an uncivilized oaf to deal with.

Rendahl had just finished the pitcher of ale and was starting to feel rather drunk. Grillian definitely new what he was doing when it came to making ale. He usually didn't let himself get so drunk especially around so many people. But he reasoned he might as well enjoy himself while he sat around the inn all day. He was about to shout for some more when he noticed a huge blonde man coming towards him. Damn if the man wanted to talk business he'd just have to send him away. He probably wouldn't be able to climb a wall in at least a week. Thieves that couldn't climb walls didn't make much money.

"Ho there," the big man said when he reached the table. "My name is Jaknir Von Ulfr Bani, son of Joeflnir Von Ulfr Bani, son of Broenar Von Ulfr Bani and you my good man must have a tale to tell with those wounds" Jaknir asked as he sat down.

"A tale to tell, yeah I've got one alright, its not as if I tripped and stabbed myself with my own knife. And as for your name and ancestors, not a chance in hell I'll remember them so I'll just call you Jaknir. As for me, the names Rendahl, got the wounds from a man tried to kill me not so long ago. Arrow went right through me as you can see. As for my arm got cut from a rusty old knife by the same man." Grillian had explained that the person he'd killed was a man to him later, after taking care of the body. Glancing around the room Rendahl spotted Ena coming towards there table with some food. He'd make sure to ask her for another pitcher when she got to the table.

"Haha, good then for that is the name I go by" Jaknir sat down, taking his massive sword from his back and setting it on the floor, making a loud thud. "I was just giving you the courtesy of knowing who I am, and that is quite the story but hey my friend, you fared well for you still have a throat to down that meade, Eh?"

The whole time he was talking Jaknir was eyeing the large platter of food headed his way being carried by a barmaid, then disastor struck. At least this is what he thought to himself as a small boy stopped the girl and started talking with her. Soon he thought, soon.

"So Rendahl, I'm quite new to this land." Jaknir turned his attention back to Rendahl taking his mind off his hunger for now. "Where am I and what can a fellow like me get himself into?"

Aruna was making her way through the tables to bring the two men their food when suddenly the gregarious peasant who had been entertaining the room with his wandering oratory on the local tournament stepped into her path. “Greetings, fine woman. What business would you have?”

Aruna stopped short and blinked. Was he joking? She glanced pointedly down at the platters in her hands and smiled in what she hoped was a patient manner. “Let me just get these to my customers over there, and I'll be over to get your order in just a moment, sir.” She noticed him take a surreptitious glance at her necklace, but thought little of it, and, smiling politely, edged around him toward Rendahl and the blonde man.

The two men were chatting amiably when she reached the table, and Rendahl seemed quite jolly, obviously deep in his cups by now. The blonde man, too, was an amicable sort, and both men were smiling as she set the plates down. “Here you are, sirs,” she said, smiling and looking pointedly at Rendahl. His drunken grin was infectious. “Is there anything else I can get you?” Amused, she eyed the barbarian who was now scooping the food into his mouth like a man half-starved.

Before Rendahl could answer the serving girl had broken free of her distraction and delivered her precious cargo. Before the platter hit the table Jaknir grabbed a slab of meat and viciously attacked hit, after nearly swallowing it whole he wiped the grease from his face and leaned back.

"Ahh! my thanks to you fine las, your timely delivery of this feast was nothing short of an act of the gods! I should have your name so I can sing of your triumphs in the glory of battle"

"So Rendahl, I'm quite new to this land." Jaknir said in a friendly tone. "Where am I and what can a fellow like me get himself into?" Ena made her way to the table before he answered so Rendahl grabbed his plate and slid it in front of him. He grinned big just because of how funny it felt moving his arms across the table. Jaknir grabbes a slab of meat and started gulping it down.

“Here you are, sirs,” Ena said, and for some reason she smiled and stared straight at Rendahl. “Is there anything else I can get you?” She asked.

"Yes, I'm sure there was something. What was I gonna ask you for again?" Rendahl slurred. He grabbed the pitcher and lifted it to his lips as if to drink from it, and remembered it was empty. "Oh yes that's right get me another pitcher of ale. Actually make it two I'm sure this giant barbarian Jaknir here can use something to get that meat down his throat easier."

Rendahl looked back towards Jaknir remembering the question he had asked just moments ago. "As for being new to the land and all why we are on Linatia, and this fine establishment is called The King's Demise, good thing for Grillian there is no king ey?" Rendahl burst out laughing at this comment and then went on, "as for what you can get yourself into, why haven't you heard yet, there's a big tournament that's about to start in a little less then a week. Up in Alonthe plains, that's sure to make a man your size some decent money. If you can use that club of a sword you have halfway decent."

"A tournament you say?!" Jaknir jumped to his feet and pounded his chest and started rambling to noone in particular. "A chance to battle with worthy opponents, a chance to prove to the ancestors the worth of this generation." Jaknir clapped Rendahl on the shoulder, forgetting about the mans injuries and scooped up the barmaid in his huge arm and spun around. "This will be a tale to tell for ages, may the the stars align and battle be a song that will ring to the heavens!"

Realizing he was still holding the girl in his arms he set her down gently. "sorry about that lass" embarassed Jaknir fell into his chair and stared into his plate for a moment, then snapped out of it.

"Bah, you jest!" Jaknir said to Rendahl. Swooping up his sword and running his hand along the blade. "I can sing the song of battle like none other with this blade, sending its harmony into the heavens to stir even the most ancients ancestors" Looking over rendahl and judging his combat prowess he leaned forward "And what of you, what skills do you serve to the glory of battle?"

Aruna took the pitcher Rendahl had slid toward her, shaking her head slightly. “You may want to slow down there, sir, unless you want your condition worsening,” she admonished him. The men ignored her, discussing the tournament amongst themselves. Sighing, she turned to take the pitcher back to the kitchen when the blonde man stood and scooped her up in his brawny arm. Aruna yelped and dropped the pitcher as the barbarian swung her around in a circle, waxing eloquent about the glory of battle or some such thing. Realizing his own faux pas, he set her down and apologized, visibly embarrassed. Aruna stood stiffly for a moment, then bent to retrieve the pitcher. Ducking her head to bid them a timid farewell, she beat a hasty retreat back to the kitchen, cracking a silly grin along the way. She shook her head in amused disbelief; it was becoming quite a morning.

When she reentered the kitchen, Rhia was just coming out with a pitcher of ale in both hands. “Rhia,” Aruna said, stopping her and taking the pitchers. “I'll take those. Could you tend to that talkative man at the corner? He seems to want something, but I'm not sure what. He might be drunk, and I...” Aruna shrugged. She hadn't the first clue how to handle a drunk patron. But she was sure Rhia, with her years of experience as a barmaid, would surely handle such a thing better than she could.

“Sure thing, love,” the barmaid said, seeming to understand the meeker woman's point. She headed in the peasant [Kayben's] direction, and Aruna turned her attention to a table full of merchants who were waving her down, mugs held aloft.

“You may want to slow down there, sir, unless you want your condition worsening," Ena whispered to Rendahl as she made as if to leave. Blast, the women was right. Oh well he was more then drunk enough already. To drunk actually.

Jaknir smacked Rendahl on the shoulder, which might have hurt only he was to drunk to tell. Saying a few more things loudly Jaknir looked back at Rendahl and said "Bah, you jest! I can sing the song of battle like none other with this blade, sending its harmony into the heavens to stir even the most ancients ancestors. And what of you, what skills do you serve to the glory of battle?" Jaknir looked him over as he asked.

"If I were to ever fight in a battle then they'd most certainly use me as a scout. My skills lie in the bow and dagger. The sword I have never learned, to inconvenient to carry around and one would not suit my purposes." As he said this Rendahl pulled a dagger out seemingly from nowhere and started tossing it into the air, letting it flip and then catching it. He almost let out that he was a skilled fighter in hand to hand combat or hand to weapon but sometimes it was better to not share to much about yourself.

"Aye, the bow" Jaknir said after Rendahl had ffinished speaking. "I am skilled with the bow myself" motioning to his massiv oak bow with the quiver full of stave like arrows. "A usefull tool when needed, no doubt."

Looking to the kitchen where the barmaid went he leaned close to Rendahl and spoke in a lower voice. "The girl, you know her? I believe I may have scared her a bit. I'm not used the customs of the lowlanders yet. I come from high in the mountains. Never have even seen grass this green or flat lands. Or people of such small stature why, the women of my village are just as large as me! They would've put me in the herb shamans tent for a week if I tossed them about like that"

Leaning back he grabbed up another slab of meat and ripped off a chunk. "You mentioned gold in this tournament?" Jaknir smirked. "I have no need of gold. The heavens are my shelter and the ancestors guide me on the path of war and glory. The only metal I. Have need of is the steel and iron for my blade and the tips of my arrows." With that Jaknir pulled a fur pouch from his waist cloth and tossed it on the table. A large number of goldden discs and raw uncut gems spilled out. "I under stand tho the need for this" jaknir said "this is the sword of the chieftains and traders. It does aquire me a nice feast tho eh my friend?" Finishing off the rest of the meat in his hand jjaknir leaned back in his chair and enjoyed the full belly he had.

They made their way to the inn, though Munashii wasn't very interested in going in the inn. He wasn't very much of a people person, so he decided to follow the merchant and his horse to the small barn next to the inn. He saw that there was a lot of commotion going on inside the inn, looked like it was quite a popular hot spot. That didn't interest Munashii, however, as he was more interested in the tourney.

That leg looked worse than he had previously thought, as the medical examiner who was part of the caravan began inspecting it.

"Busted her leg good, this one. We'll either need a skilled healer, or a butcher. Nothing short of magic is going to help this one."

As Munashii heard the physician speak, he let out a low growl and pushed him aside. He didn't want to have to use this, but he didn't want to waste any more time here. He didn't know when he learned it, but it seemed like he always knew a bit of white magic. The horse wasn't afraid of his voice or brisk movements, he had an affinity with animals. Some of the people around him thought he was going to put the horse out of its misery, as the merchant mumbled in protest and some began to move closer to him. As they realized he wasn't going to take out his sword when he knelt down beside the horse, however, they gave him space.

He looked deep inside himself, and found the light. It was a peculiar thing, as bright as the sun, but emitting no heat and not painful to look at. As he found it, he beckoned to it, and it sluggishly made its way to him without any qualms. He opened his eyes, and some people gasped when they saw the light emanating from his hands. Sure, there were plenty of wizards out there, but generally speaking they were small and frail, or noblemen, sometimes both. If they were perceptive, they may have noticed that as his hands became brighter, his hair and skin took a slightly darker tint. He absorbed the light throughout the day and night, which explained his fair skin and golden hair. Now his skin was slightly less pale, actually looking a bit healthier, while his hair took on a more natural light golden brown. The light slowly seeped out of his palms, and wafted over the horses injured leg. In a matter of minutes, the broken skin and muscle began to weave itself together. Munashii felt no exhaustion from this, it used the energy of the injured subject to heal, and only a little bit of power from the sun, and sometimes fire. Once he was done, the light left over in his hands transferred back into his body at an even pace. The horse stood up, and he was finished.

After a few moments, people began to regain their composure. Something like this wasn't seen every day, but it wasn't very rare either. Almost every large village or small town had a small group of mages, though the use of magic generally required either a wand or staff, or specific key words of magic. While some began to walk over to him, he gave them a glance and most of them backed off. He wasn't interested in any questions or comments, all he wanted was something interesting. Generally speaking, something interesting for him involved bruises, broken bones, cuts, and sometimes death.

Most of the caravan was ready to go, however some took the opportunity to go into the bar, chat about the goings on, and perhaps promote the tourney and get a larger safer caravan going. Munashii didn't mind, he knew there were valuables somewhere in one of those covered vehicles. The longer valuables stayed in one place, the higher the chance of someone trying to take them. This far away from Nortim, there must be some form of brigands or bandits. Munashii stayed outside, while most either piled into the inn, talked among themselves, or idly looked around, expecting some form of danger.

Jaknir was deep in thought, wondering to himself the innerworkings of his stomach and what kind of beasts must live in there to make such growlings and rumblings when his thoughts were interrupted by the Inn door opening and new patrons started filing in. A diverse looking mix of people's, some mercenaries distinguished by their own individual style and dress ranging from Bow men and rangers to light infantry using swords and handaxes. Then there were obvious gaurdsmen of some sort. Dressed in uniform fashion and there was the assortment of peasants and commoners. Jaknir realised that the caravan he saw off in the distance must have arrived and these were some of the travelers and hired swords that were with it.

"Well my friend" Jaknir said as he turned to Rendahl. "I'll be off, maybe this caravan is heading to these Alonthe fields you spoke of, or perhaps its a supply to some battlefield where glory and honor is to be had." Setting down some gold discs on the table Jaknir stood and slung his bow and quiver and set his sword on shoulder. "My thanks for the company and may the ancestors guide your blades to glory my friend." With that Jaknir headed to the door of the bar.

Stepping out of the inn Jaknir was met with a sight of ordered chaos. Dozens of wagons and their horse teams were being assembled along the road, being readied by their drivers for the next leg of their journey. Through open flaps on the wagons Jaknir saw a wide assortment of goods, weapons and armor's of all sorts, provisions and goods and luxury items, Cloths in bright vibrant colors that reflected the sun like glass. Jaknir had never seen such a variety of goods and strolled about the caravan. Clearing one wagon he saw a much fancier wagon than the rest, no goods were being hauled on this one and was decorated. This must be the caravan master, he thought. As he got closer he was certain of it because there was a portly man barking orders to workers. Walking up to the man Jaknir greeted him in his barbarian custom, the man however was speechles. never had he seen such a gaint brute craning his neck just to see Jaknirs face. After a lengthly conversation the Caravan master agree'd to let Jaknir join the caravan as it made its way north.

Jaknir headed towards the stables to lounge on some straw till the caravan was ready to go, when he got there he saw a strange man. Could almost be my cousin! Jaknir thought to himself. Except for his sickly features, no meat on his bones whatsoever, the man was in some meditative trance tho so Jaknir let him be and sat on a pile of straw.

While the barbarian and the drunkard were at the height of their conversation, Kayben decided not to mess with them. He had learned from his experiences that both were very... Belligerent.
But as he listened, the barbarian was quite amicable, and was interested in the type of singing and bellowing that befitted inns. How nice... Eh, he's not worth the trouble.
So he listened eagerly to the conversation that occurred between the two. After a few seconds, it got rather monotonous.
"I'll be outside if you need me," he said to no one in particular. And with that he ambled outside. He received the sight of a very strange looking-man with a katana healing a horse with some sort of magic. What a very expensive katana, that seems... I'll see if this one is very authoritarian. But judging from the demeanor, he must be one of the exotic folks. Ah, too bad. I need someone to annoy. The caravan leader?
"Greetings, fellow Linatian. I have to ask something about--"
"I am too busy for a simple peasant to bother with me. Off with you, now!" Kayben's eye twitched.
"Peasant, eh? A simple peasant, that cannot hurt you. That has no political clout, yes, I'm sure."
Now nervous, the leader replied, "Yes, a peasant like you should not b-be talking to me. I'm a very--"
"Rich man? Nice coin purse." Kayben stalked off, waiting for the response. It was rather violent. Purple with rage, the man reached to take a dagger from his belt. And guards were now coming from all sides, blocking him in.
"Hands up, thief, or deal with the cold steel of my blade." A random guard. Kayben obliged. There was no need to aggravate these men further. He had already proven his point. With a leery grin, he handed the purse back to the caravan leader, but made sure that the knot was loose. He now threw the purse at the man. While everyone was distracted, he slipped his way out of the knot of men that had grown around the guards.
Har har... That sure is good sport.

After walking to the stables, he saw the strange man from before. Kayben paused for a bit before allowing himself to slip to the shadows of the stable, staying stock-still. Hopefully that would conceal him.
The barbarian from before soon walked in and sat on a pile of straw. He was a rather loud fellow, one that he would like to converse with. See if the folks of the village from which he came would need any help in some way. Stepping out of the shadows, Kayben sat next to the very large man.
"What a nice inn, don't you think?"

Aruna had barely re-filled the mugs of the nearest table when the inn doors burst open and a veritable mob of dusty travelers filed in, seating themselves until there was not an empty table left in the inn. Aruna looked around for Rhia and caught her eye as she was clearing another table of dishes to make room for an impatient family of four that was waiting nearby. Aruna widened her eyes in panic, but the barmaid just winked, seated the family, and made her way back to the kitchen. Comforted by Rhia's easy manner, Aruna continued seating customers, collecting orders, and filling stomachs. She caught snippets of conversations as she moved among the patrons. Most discussed the upcoming tournament, but some were excitedly murmuring about a man traveling with the caravan who seemed to have magical healing powers. Aruna was refilling the mugs for a table-full of men as they were talking and heard more specifics.

“Healed it, 'e did! That horse never shoulda walked again, but there it was prancing around, pretty as ya please!”

“Did you see how 'is hands glowed? That was white magic, shore as I was born!”

“I always thought there was something queer about that fellow.”

“Think he's gonna enter the tournament?”

“You ask me, magic like that gives him an unfair advantage in a fight. He shouldn't be allowed!”

“The man has the build of an ogre. 'E doesn't need no magic to win a dual, that's fer certain an' sure!”

Aruna's mind raced as she listened to the men conversing. A healer? The priestesses at the temple had used white magic to heal sometimes, but only during very drastic moments, as it drew much energy and left the user weakened. Aruna had always wondered if she would become one of those who mastered the art of white magic once she had become a priestess, though that dream had been crushed now. She did not know healing magic existed outside of the temple. Then a new, horrifying thought struck her.

What if it didn't? What if whoever this healer was had been sent by the priestesses to find her, drag her back to stand trial for the murder of Imani? She shook her head, dismissing such a thought. According to the travelers, the man was merely a guard on the caravan, and he hadn't even come inside the inn yet. Surely he was not after her at all. Still, she was curious. Perhaps when this wild rush of business was over, she would steal outside to get a glimpse of this miraculous healer. Then again, as she watched more patrons file in the door, perhaps not. She rushed back to the kitchen to put in a new tableful of orders.

On her way, she glanced around the inn, taking stock. Rendahl still sat in his booth, diligently tucking in his breakfast. The big blonde man was gone now, as well as the seemingly drunken speech-making man. Good, she thought. The little inn could only hold so many people, and the faster they cleared out the better. She was nearly exhausted already and it looked like it would be at least a few more hours before she got any rest. Still, she was grateful for the chance to earn some money and repay Grillian and Rhia for their kindness. And at least the travelers were by and large a friendly, easygoing group. Most seemed thankful merely for the chance to sit down indoors and relax, and Aruna had already collected several very generous tips.

She ducked into the kitchen, giving a beleaguered Grillian her orders and picking up several platters that were already up. Tossing him an encouraging grin, she headed back out to the dining room.

"What a nice inn, don't you think?" Jaknir heard someone say. He looked around and half jumped when he saw the small boy sitting next to him. "Your like a mountain cat boy! HA, best be carefull else you may not get the reply you wanted from someone else." Jaknir looked the boy over, shaking his head at the physical stature of all the lowlanders he's seen he wondered what kind of soft lives they live that they're still alive at all.

"As for the inn" jaknir looked back over the building. "To permanent, they'd find themselves in a fix if ever a raiding party came, but it serves its purpose I suppose. I remember seeing you inside, thought you were going to keep me from my food forever. It's cruel to torture a man so. My name is Jaknir, I'll spare you my ancestory, you lowlanders have no interest in the glory of telling of lineage"

Jaknir picked up some straw and tried to split it, fumbling with it because his large fingers he gave up at tossed it aside, it landed in the direction of the tall meditating man. Leaning back he turned to the small boy. "What do you think of him then, with his sword as small as him. You need a real sword if you wanna do anything" Jaknir started patting his large sword"

"What do you think of him, then, with his sword as small as him. You need a real sword if you wanna do anything," Jankir started patting his large sword.
"Well, those swords are very quick and nimble, from what I hear of them. Sharp as the edge of an enchanted blade, too. They can cut through anything. I've seen bones cleanly cut from what I know of them. The craftmanship of those swords are unrivaled. Heard the creators spend three years on a single blade. Meanwhile, your sword is more like a mace. You need a large amount of strength to get anything done with that. Speaking of which, you must be a very strong fellow. Are you going to participate in the tournament up north, at Alonthe?" Not pausing for an answer, Kayben continued, "It's too bad I can't partake in the festivities. I read the pamphlets on the tournament... Great things, they. Impressive warriors are going to join. You could be counted among them." He stopped to pluck a nail from the wooden wall of the stable.
"You know, I'm pretty sure one of those warriors could defeat you. They seemed very skilled in the art of swordmanship. I assume you are more reliant on brute strength?" Kayben now looked into the face of the giant.

"Of course I'll compete in this tournament, the chance to participate in the glory of battle is one I would never pass upon. They can keep their gold tho, the only reward I need is the tales of battle and glory."

Standing up and setting his bow and quiver down Jaknir grabbed up his sword. "It's a true mark of an inexpierenced warrior to judge someone on sight my friend. Tis true I have strength but strength with out skill and speed is like a bird with out wings."

Suddenly Jaknir burst with suprising speed into a series of fighting manuevers, spinning his sword with relaxed ease, his giant sword becoming a blur at times. Finishing his manuevers jaknir sat back down next to the boy breathing as if he had just awoken from a nights sleep.

"So then will you be staying here at this inn boy, or will you going to the Tournament grounds. I can only assume you indulge yourself in the less than honorable arts of thievery and guile, I'm sure some one like you can find a purpose, eh?"

Munashii wasn't in the mood to be bothered by anyone, so he took a meditative stance in the stable, in the sunlight. If he ever did need it, he would need to stay in direct sunlight for the next couple hours or so to steer clear from any fatal wounds. He observed those around him, and time seemed to speed up as people began to enter. By the time the concealed figure entered, he had already absorbed a large amount, and his skin was once again a fair pale, seeming almost unhealthy in it's brightness. He sensed no hostility coming from the man, and so he let his mind wander.

"What a nice inn, don't you think?"

Dice began to roll in his head... 4... Nothing appeared to happen.

Munashii opened his eyes, and glanced about. He had sensed that the man was big, but he was bigger than himself, which was a tad bit surprising. Well, there must be a lot of things to be seen on the main land. The man he was talking to was about a foot shorter than Munashii, who didn't seem to stand out much. He blended too well, obviously some sort of rogue. That was the concealed presence he sensed earlier.

He opened his eyes and casually joined into the conversation by watching

"... And that's why the grass must be of a select type. There's a great number of types of grass in Linatia, you see. Unfortunately, no histcarp. But anyways, some of these plants have thorns and other nasty surprises, which would be bad for the tournament, whether it be the setting up, or the-- Hey, the meditating man is awake. Greetings. What have you been doing the previous hours? I never understood the concept of meditation. But anyways, here's to a healthy relationship between us." Kayben stuck out his hand.
"And Jaknir, to answer your question, thieves have a sense of honor. Or at least I do. So don't really expect much to happen from me. Unless the people I thieve from need the medicine."

Munashii gave a light smile. The man noticed he opened his eyes, and made quite an interesting subject. He got up and shuffled over, and shook the mans hand.

"Once practiced, a man can meditate in place of sleep. I, however, tend to let my mind wander when the chances of something interesting happening is fairly low."

He nodded his head towards his Katana, explaining that by interesting he meant fighting.

"You interested in joining the tourney? I hope to test my skills there, and hopefully get into an occupation that lets me utilize my friend here."

"Ahh, good morning my friend." Jaknir stood up and grabbed Munashi's forearms. "It's good to see someone that's not built like child, am I right?" Jaknir laughed and pushed Kayben jokingly.

Turning back to Munashi "So where do you hail from? Some land where the sun is cursed to hide behind clouds no doubt, you look like a cave dwelling goblin. Tis good to see someone like you tho, I was afraid the only people I would be facing on the battlefield would be these pint sized lowlanders. It will be good for our blades to meet and sing their songs to the ancestors."
