Ancestor: Set, the Egyptian God of Deserts, Storms and Foreigners.

Powers:
'The weatherman predicted sun for today? I can fix that.'
Mack has never been able to manipulate rain, hail, lightning or snow. Instead his storms tend to be strong winds. He has the potential to create tornadoes, tropical cyclones (a strange occurrence for Ireland) or with the addition of sand and dust, biting sandstorms. When calling on his winds it is often noted that sand seems to appear in them, as if Mack has called the substance from the nearest beach. In fact the sand seems to appear magically, adding to the power of his storm. Mack has never been able to explain this aspect of his power, he can only assume that Mack's power to create sandstorms stems from the fact that Set was the God of Deserts and Storms.

Other than wind and sandstorms, Mack is able to make solid constructs out of sand. In theory he should be able to create something as large as the sand available can make, but Mack was never too interested in honing this particular power considering the severe lack of sand in Northbay.

Weaknesses:
Mack's fear of lightning is probably one of the reasons he has never been able to control it. He has never tried and he probably never will attempt to control the volatile element. During lightning storms Mack usually becomes more agitated and impatient, reverting to his younger attitude.

Strengths:
Mack has a talent for cooking, in particular foreign dishes. He loves experimenting with spices and trying new things.

Mack is a bit of a handy-man. He's picked up a variety of skills on his travels and knows how to fix drains, clear pipes, build tree houses, weed gardens, fix TVs and so on.

As with his younger brother Mack has a talent with languages. His collection includes English, Portuguese, Latin, Korean, Romanian, and Maori

Thoughts: 'The Norse? Too serious. The Greeks? Too proud.'

Personality:
'Look, I'll admit that I haven't always been the most focused individual''
Mack wasn't always the relaxed, laid-back guy he is today. Once upon a time he was impulsive, impatient and let his desires run his life. That all changed when he came back from travelling the world. Somewhere beyond the limited reaches of Northbay Mack changed, becoming the chilled guy he is today. Rather than make snap decisions Mack will mull over an idea for a while before deciding, generally, on whatever strikes him as a more interesting idea. He takes life at a slower paste and dislikes rushing anything potentially important or enjoyable. Sure, he still likes to party and to flirt with anything that catches his fancy, but there is a definite lack of haste in his life.

It should be made clear that just because he enjoys life at a slower pace, does not mean he is dim in anyway. His school grades were never spectacular. In fact most of his past teachers would say that they bordered on atrocious, but that was mainly due to a lack of interest at the time. Mack has a quick mind, more suited to the study of languages and cultures than the application of maths and science. He is extremely street smart and quick-witted, a result of genetics and his experiences travelling. While a quick-wit might not be the first thing you'd associate with his lazy smile, it is there and often used when flirting or trading harmless quips with friends.

Mack has always been a sociable guy. He has a way of including people that means he has never lacked for friends. He rarely lets apparent labels or ages stand in the way of a friendship. He is usually drawn to others who have the same go with the flow attitude. It is usually a friendly smile that people see followed by an easy joke or a friendly wave. Mack isn't one to let his emotions affect other people and will generally be pleasant to others even if he personally isn't feeling too bright that day.

When dealing for people who have wronged Mack he has one simple way of dealing with it. Mack has always believed in the saying 'An eye for an eye'. He doesn't see it as revenge, but simply as a way of balancing the scales. If someone wrongs him he feels entitled to righting the scales. Once righted he will bare no grudge and will return to acting as he did before the incident.

Of course there are exceptions to every rule. Even the most laid back individuals have people they dislike. For Mack they are the people who don't know a good thing when they have it. Perhaps it is an aspect of his jealous nature that shows, but for whatever reason Mack has always found it hard to like anyone who whines about their life. Mack has seen people with a lot less than the inhabitants of Northbay and has no time for anyone feeling sorry for themselves.

While his new, easy going attitude is here to stay there are times when his impulsiveness surfaces. Usually this occurs during times of stress, like lightning storms, when he'll become agitated. Envy is another emotion that Mack tries to subdue. His jealousy, as mentioned above, usually flares when others needlessly flaunt their possessions. Mack has always worked to earn his way, even though his parents were well enough off to offer some form of support. He worked his way around the world and now he works doing odd jobs to eat and keep a roof over his head. He views anyone with a silver spoon in their mouth with indifference and a hint of jealousy.

|| Laid-back || Friendly || Quick-witted || Sociable || Flirtatious || Jealous ||

History:
Mack was born into a comfortable family home and for seven years had the privilege of being an only child. Those early years were simple, easy and all about Mack. When it was announced that Mack would be getting a baby brother, well he wasn't initially too excited about the prospect. To the young Mack the birth of his little brother Bryce meant having to share the attention of his parents. At first he was resentful but, when Bryce was actually born Mack's fascination overrode his resentment and he found himself becoming oddly protective of his younger brother.

As Mack grew so too did his impulsiveness. After his younger brother was born Mack's choices were made even faster and without thinking of the proper consequences. Throughout school his impatience could be seen. He would sit in class and squirm, waiting for the bell to ring and the lesson to be over. His inattention in class soon began to tell on his grades. His parents weren't happy of course, but there was little they could do. On the one hand they were trying to instil a sense of caution in Bryce, who was constantly acting recklessly and breaking bones, and for Mack they were trying to calm him down and give him some patience.

After Mack's final year of school he decided to take a gap year before beginning university. His parents were supportive and offered to pay for part of his trip overseas. However, Mack decided that he wanted to fund his trip on his own. During school he had done a number of part-time jobs around the town, he was a waiter at the restaurant and an assistant at the cafe. Between his jobs he'd earned enough money to start his trip.
He only planned to be gone for one year but five years, four continents, 16 islands and a larger appreciation for life later Mack returned.

His parents have always lived comfortably. They weren't particularly wealthy but they had always been able to provide for themselves and their children. On Mack's return his parents offered him his old room back. Mack however had come too independent to enjoy the thought of living with his parents again.

He got his own place, a small, one bedroom apartment along Northbay's main street. He began taking odd jobs to earn his money, anything that was available. One day he would be fixing drains at the Sailing Club, the next he'd be the substitute cook at the pub. This life style suited him well. Friends and family also marveled at the change in him. His impulsiveness was gone, instead he was the sort of guy that approached situations with a lazy smile and a calm demeanor.
Other: Anything else you want to add.

So begins...

Jade stood quietly behind Alaura as she took control of the situation- like she did every situation."How can we ever repay you?" Alaura asked, and Jade looked to her with a bit of annoyance. It was over just a quick as it had flared, and she was back to staring at the ground. "No, nothing. I don't need to be repaid," Mack replied, adding "I'm glad you're alright Jade." Jade looked up at him and offered a shy, embarrassed smile. Not soon after, she felt a warmth on her hand and turned to notice Quincy, who she offered the same smile to. He leaned in towards Alaura, informing her that he was there to help if she needed. As always. Jade stared at Quincy for a moment as Liam walked up. Quincy was so in love with her sister, so willing and desperate to help or leap at her command. Jade wondered if Alaura even knew about the effect she had on Quincy.

"Okay... Hoping everything is alright. Maybe we should bring Jade back to her home... I know that she probably doesn't want to stay here at least," Liam offered, speaking to her sister as if she weren't there. Jade looked up at him then, but not to glare. She was too numb to be mad at anyone right now, even though she was feeling more and more claustrophobic by the second. Mack began to nod, which drew her attention back to him as he said, "Do you need anything? I can swing by the supermarket and pick up any supplies..." "I don't think there's--" "The doctor said I need prenatal vitamins," Jade cut in, speaking up as she took her hand away from her older sister. "And, I'm pregnant, not crippled. Alaura, don't you have festival decorations to be putting up?" She sighed, aware of the annoyed tone coming out in her voice. She didn't want all these people around-- she just wanted Gwyn. Right now, that's all she wanted- to curl up beside her and die if that'd make a smile lift Gwyn's cheeks.

Jade shook away the thoughts of her ex as she placed a hand on her steadily growing stomach. Just as the doctor had said; her womb was inflating steadily, even as she stood in front of her friends now. She could feel milimeter by milimeter expanding, and her shorts already starting to feel tighter. "Just go back to decorating for the festival, I'm sure they need the help. My house isn't far- I'll walk. I want to walk, Alaura. I need some time to think. Mack, if you could maybe bring the vitamins over later, or give them to me when you see me at the festival- yes, I'm still going, that'd be great." She glanced around once more to everyone standing, staring at her. "Thank you all for being so worried, but I'm healed now, and I'm okay. I was just a little shook up, but Mack totally took care of me so I'm good now, okay? I'll see you all at the festival." With that, and before anyone else could chime in to stop her, she walked out of the clinic and started up the sidewalk to go back to her townhouse, which was as she said fairly close by.

As her door closed behind her, she leaned up against the frame and slowly slid to the floor, sobbing as she held her growing stomach. This was not how she had wanted anyone to find out- at all. It was all just too much: the loss of her girlfriend, not knowing who the father was, everyone finding out that she was pregnant, the idea of facing everyone that night with a beach-ball for a stomach, but above everything else-- almost losing her children. All five of them. Five of them. The idea made her nauseous, and she curled into herself, holding her stomach gently as she wept for everything she had lost.

When she was finally done feeling sorry for herself, she clawed her way back up her door to walk into her bathroom. She slowly stripped down, still sniffling and crying a little as she stared at her naked reflection. Her stomach welled in front of her as her red, puffy, eyes trailed over her form. She had been so beautiful once- now she looked like a cartoon character that had swallowed a beach ball. With a sigh, she showed and dug through her clothes for a larger pair of shorts, and a loose enough top to flow over her new stomach.Image Luckily the butterfly print managed to cover all of her skin, but it was painfully evident that she was pregnant. There would be no hiding it now. Figuring that she should at least tell her father, Jade scooped up her car keys and headed out of the door. She was about to get in, when she changed her mind. She could walk there, too. She lived on the other side of main street as it was, so it would just be a short walk to the bakery. Before she left, she placed a postit note on her door, in case Mack tried to drop the vitamins off at her house.

With a heavy heart, she put her keys, wallet, and cell into her brown shoulder purse. Walking felt significantly different now that she had so much weight toward her front. She found herself having to lean back just slightly, and felt very comfortable with one hand on her stomach. As she walked down the street, she noticed that most of the decorations had been set up, and the road had officially been blocked off. Good thing she hadn't taken her car. As she entered the bakery, her father came around the counter with a very serious look on his face. "It's been a long time, Bella," he said, his accent still as heavy as the day she was born. She couldn't help but smile warmly, tears swelling in her eyes. "I know, Papa." "I see you bring good news," his tone lifted with his smile as he walked over to her and put his arms around her. "I bet Guinevere is very excited," he chuckled. Bella started to cry all over again at the mention of her ex, throwing her arms around her father in a tight embrace.

She spent the next thirty minutes filling him in on everything he had missed over the past year, and apologized for being so secretive and distant. Mr. Aset sat stone silent on the other end of the patio table, ignoring the coffee one of his helpers had brought them. "You mean you don't know who the father is?" His tone was gentle, but firm, and from years of listening to that combination she could also hear the underlining disappointment. "I've tried to remember, Papa... I really have, but I just... I can't remember at all. I'm scared, Papa. I don't know what to do." Mr. Aset nodded slowly, holding the ultrasound picture in his hand fondly. "That's exactly how I felt when I first found out your mother was pregnant with Alaura. I was terrified. But, I found a way, little bird. Just as you will. You said Alaura already knows of this? Yes, well, then you will certainly have a lot of support. I'm sure April will be happy to hear the news as well." Jade smiled in awe of her father's calm demeanor. He was always so cool- so collect. No wonder Alaura always had her head on her shoulders.

"I have to get back to the bakery, little bird. Lots of baking to be done, the festival is starting soon. You just try to have fun, and relax a little. All there is to be done now is prepare." Jade nodded and stood as her father did, accepting a kiss to each of her cheeks. She felt significantly better. With renewed hope for herself, she made her way through main street which was lined with rides, vendors and food stands now- all frantically trying to set up for the festival. She had been signed up to work the kissing booth by Alaura weeks ago, and she felt a small twist in her stomach. No one was going to want to kiss a pregnant girl. She helped herself to a large pretzel, as she stood on the side walk and pulled out her phone to text for emergency back-up. She couldn't tell Alaura that she wouldn't be able to make it- she'd have to find a replacement.

Alaura looked to Mack as he said, "No, nothing. I don't need to be repaid," adding to Jade, "I'm glad you're alright Jade." Alaura smiled and glanced to Jade as Quincy said something to her. "Okay... Hoping everything is alright. Maybe we should bring Jade back to her home... I know that she probably doesn't want to stay here at least," Liam added into the conversation. "Do you need anything? I can swing by the supermarket and pick up any supplies..." The offer from Mack was very nice, but she shook her head, saying "I don't think there's--" "The doctor said I need prenatal vitamins," Jade cut in, speaking up as she took her hand away from Alaura. "And, I'm pregnant, not crippled. Alaura, don't you have festival decorations to be putting up?" The snide tone to her voice caused Alaura to shift, standing beside Mack now to look at her little sister. What had gotten into her? Aside from some guy who didn't have the decency to stay around.

Alaura stood silent for a moment, her jaw locked tight. "Just go back to decorating for the festival, I'm sure they need the help. My house isn't far-" "Oh, come on, Bella, don't be dramatic.." "I'll walk. I want to walk, Alaura. I need some time to think. Mack, if you could maybe bring the vitamins over later, or give them to me when you see me at the festival- yes, I'm still going, that'd be great." Alaura sighed, putting a hand to her temple. "Thank you all for being so worried, but I'm healed now, and I'm okay. I was just a little shook up, but Mack totally took care of me so I'm good now, okay? I'll see you all at the festival."

Alaura unlocked her jaw, throwing her hands into the air as her sister stormed off through the hospital doors. "She's so hard headed.." With an exasperated sigh, Alaura turned back to the men that had been so helpful and worried over her little sister. "Thank you again, Mack. You, too, Liam for.. caring." She turned to look at Terrance and smiled, gently placing a hand onto his shoulder. "I guess we should get back to work?" With her family crisis over, and a lot to think about, Alaura walked briskly back out to her car, waiting for Terrance to join her if he would, and then driving back to her apartment, just above the bakery.

She got out of her car with a sigh as the door shut. Alaura reached out and laid her head onto the roof of her baby blue bug. What had happened? Her baby sister... Pregnant. It wasn't supposed to be Bella first- it was supposed to be her! Had she failed her family in some way? Had she missed her time? Had life really passed her by so quickly? Worse, what was her little sister going to do with five children? As exciting as it was, it was always very sobering. There was money to be made, cribs to buy, doctor visits to plan and pay for. The cost and the seriousness of the recent events weighed heavily on her. She wanted to cry- to fall apart, but she couldn't. Not with Terrance there. She needed to be strong- to be Alaura Aset; responsible and productive.

Pushing her own drama aside, she leaned up from her car and sighed again as if to release all of her negative energy. "I have a festival to run," she stated in her breath, striding up onto the sidewalk and quickly making her way into the fray of volunteers. Time seemed to warp around her; as she completely submerged herself into decorating, setting up, and directing the festival alongside her aunt. Before long, the street was starting to fill with people and music. The booths and vendors were all running smoothly, aside from the kissing booth which she noticed was still empty. Bella- it had been her assignment. Alaura was obviously annoyed, but shook it off. She had other things she needed to be doing.

She must have looked like a chicken with her head cut off- jogging from place to place to meet with this person or that, making sure that everything was running smoothly. In all honesty; in situations of high pressure is where Alaura worked best. Always having something to do- someone to talk to, someone to praise or someone to fuss at. She finished bringing out the last box of lanterns that would be handed out to people when she finally took a breath. "I just want everything to go perfectly," she confessed to Terrance, who by some miracle had managed to keep up with her and do most of the heavy lifting.

"Let's grab some lunch, yeah? Hopefully none of my siblings will have a nuclear melt down while I try to eat this time," she joked, though her stomach growled at her in protest. They hadn't had a chance to eat the picnic they originally packed, and it had gone bad sitting in the back of her car, which she discovered as she opened the trunk and smelled the sour mayonnaise. With a wince, she took out the basket and set it beside her car. "I guess lunch will have to be in the cafe`." With an apologetic smile, she led the way to the cafe` and politely asked Viona for a table for two. "Have you been busy today?" she asked politely as they were led to their table. "Well, I hope you get off in time to get to enjoy the festival. We've really worked hard on it, and besides- you deserve a little fun. How's your family?" Alaura waited for her to respond before saying, "I'll have a caesar salad with grilled chicken and a water, please. With lemon."

After Terrance had ordered and Viona had elegantly walked off, Alaura turned her attention to her friend, eyes narrowing on him just slightly. "How are your classes coming?" He'd know what she meant. She wondered how many months clean he was now, but didn't want to ask for fear of offending him. This was a typical Alaura maneuver- direct attention and worry to someone else in times of stress or worry for herself or her family.

Asta Falr

The door jangled as it opened. Asta hoped off the counter and turned to see Daphne enter the shop. The Greek girl may have only been here a month but, like Bobby, Asta considered her a friend. Asta's mouth was full of lemon cake so while she chewed on the sweet food she gave Daphne a wave in greeting.
"Oh hey Bobby... Asta hey! Your coming with us tonight right?" Daphne said as she joined the two. Asta nodded and then, after swallowing her food replied,
"I sure am." And then with a grin she added, "I hope you guys are looking forward to the festival. The last time Northbay threw the lantern festival I was seven. It was so much fun."

Asta hoped the festival was as good as she remembered. She had been pretty young the last time and remembered it was pleasure. There had been sweets, rides, stalls and the release of the lanterns at the end of night, which was always Asta's favourite part.

A vibration in her pocket and the beginnings of an electronic tune brought Asta's attention back to the present. She pulled her phone out to find a text from Jade, asking a number of people if they could help out at the festival.
"The kissing booth...? Asta mumbled to herself, biting her lip. Did she really want strangers to be kissing her? On the other hand she wanted to help Jade out and she wasn't doing anything else to help out.

Asta typed back a quick reply,

"I'll take the first shift: 6:00 - 6:30.
Let me know if I can help with anything else.
xx A"

With the press of a button she had sent the text. Taking the first shift would mean that she would have hours of uninterrupted time to enjoy the festival afterwards. She put her phone away, feeling suddenly guilty for texting in front of Bobby and Daphne. To Asta it seemed somewhat antisocial.

"Sorry." She apologised, "That was Jade asking for people to help at the kissing booth. I've offered to take a shift to help her out." Asta pulled a face, poking her tongue out in a playful manner, "Let's hope it's too early for anyone to actually be at the festival during my shift."

Mack Nephthys

There was a strain between Alaura and Jade, that much was clear to all three men gathered around the two.
"The doctor said I need prenatal vitamins," Jade said in response to his question
Mack nodded, "I'll bring them around before I head back to the festival set up" he told her, before she rushed out of the practice. Mack glanced from Alaura to the quickly receding back of Jade. It wasn't his place to step into a problem of this kind so with a nod he took his leave.

He took a deep breath in his car, calming himself and setting his mind to ease. The morning had been full of more drama than he couldn't possibly have anticipated. He hoped that the festival would prove to be less dramatic. He ignited the cars engine a moment later and pulled out of the doctor's practice. He turned left, heading towards the supermarket and pharmacy.

"Prenatal vitamins, right..." He muttered to himself as he entered the shop. He wondered down the isles until he reached the necessary section only to find an array of vitamins designed for a seemingly endless number of health problems. "Iron deficiency, Vitamin C boost..." Mack muttered as he picked up random bottles from the shelves. He found something that might have been for pregnancies, but a little further down he found another bottle that promised much of the same thing. "Perhaps I should have asked what the vitamins were called." Mack muttered, clasping his hands on top of his head and looking hopelessly at the shelves. In the end he had to ask one of the shop assistants for advice and even then he ended up buying three different bottles of vitamins.

Five minutes later he pulled up outside of Jade's townhouse. There was a note on her door addressed to Mack. She was out. Mack stood on the doorstep for a moment, debating what to do. He glanced quickly at his wristwatch, it was time to begin putting up the street cordons now and he had been specifically tasked with the job. He couldn't really afford to wait for Jade or chance meeting her at the festival. So, finally making a decision, Mack wrapped the vitamin bottles carefully in a bag and placed them in her letterbox. He attached a short note,

'Jade -
I didn't know what vitamins to get so I bought a few.
Hope they're the right ones.
- Mack'

He hoped back into his car to the sound of his cellphone beeping. He unlocked it and read the message from Jade. Suddenly his note seemed irrelevant given that he could just text her the location of the vitamins.

'Glad you're alright. No problem.
Vitamins in the letterbox.
See you at festival
- Mack'

It was evident to anyone who received a text from Mack that he wasn't a technology whizz. He'd never really caught on to texting, he preferred talking face to face and his texts were usually brief and to the point. He threw his phone onto the passenger seat and drove towards the main street.

- Midday -

Mack was back at the Festival site, organising the construction of the cordons. They weren't large, more as a means of indicating where the festival began. But, they would keep cars out and - for the moment - any pedestrians who wanted to get a look at the set up. The festival would start in a few hours and, given no more accidents or surprises, the decorations and stalls should be completed in no time.

Dehlilah smiled at Viona when she asked for their order and ordered a fruit pastry. When she came back she instantly started eating the fruity delectable. She turned to see Odessa at the counter and waved at her. Before turning back to her friends.

Dehlilah looked up as Tony said "You'll have to excuse me," He said with a long sigh and a stretch. She blushed as she noticed how toned his abs are. "Dad might need me to help put up finishing touch ups around town I'll catch up with you later, boss." Tony promised before before saying goodbye to her sister and Fin.

-miday-

She leaned back in her seat before finishing of her Pastry and turning to Fin and Amanda, "I have to go, but I will see you later ok?" She said with her signature half smile and wave. She turned and saw Layla and her brother. She waved at them and stopped by the table "Bye Layla, see you later right?" She said, not really waiting to hear the answer she just smiled and waved. She left the restaurant and went to make amends.

Image
She spotted Mack and ran over to him. "Um, hey I didn't want to interrupt but um can you ask the girl, my friend ran into if she's ok?" She asked, her breath a little breathy from running and being nervous. She ran a hand through her hair "I would have helped, but I didn't know if you'd want us," She said motioning to herself "To put our noses in your business," She looked over her shoulder before continuing "I have to go, I just wanted to ask that." She put a hand on his arm "Thanks, seriously," She added before walking away.

She walked to her house. This was her abode. She loved her house. It was a pink and white rose coveredcottage. Her cottage was a romantic dream in her eyes. She took a nice hot shower, before she heard the sounds of yapping down the hall signaling that her four dogs barelled intoher room. She wrapped herself in a big fluffy pink bathrobe before sitting on her bed. Her dog Hibiscus was curled up in her dog bed in the corner of the room. Chocolate was rolling around on her bed, Though her smallest dogs Mouse and Bows were vying for her attention by pawing either side of her laps as she did her hair. She decided to a intricate rose design in her hair

She walked over to her closet and began sorting through her clothes for a nice outfit. She sighed and collapsed into a shell shaped plush chair.

The main street of Northbay, still illuminated by the soon to be setting sun, has come alive. Music (a local folk band currently playing on the stage) drifts down the street.

Residents arrive to take a look at what the festival has to offer: food, games, competitions, raffles and trinkets for sale.

Of course, given that the town's residents are the descendent of gods you can bet that there will be other stalls selling magical items and game booths encouraging use of powers.

Mack Nephthys

- Midday -

Mack was shaking his head as a pair of helpers moved a beam of wood into place,
"Watch where you're..." He started to warn the pair before, crash! the beam hit another pile of poles and sent them rolling across the road. Luckily most of the street was blocked off from pedestrians so there was little need for Mack to run screaming after them. Instead he simply pointed after them to the pair that had caused the crash.

A moment later a voice made him turn and he found Dehlilah Cyprus standing behind him.
"Um, hey I didn't want to interrupt but um can you ask the girl, my friend ran into if she's ok?" She sounded nervous, or perhaps she was just breathless from running across the street.
"Jade. Her name is Jade." Mack said. He felt uncharacteristically defensive of Jade. He was a friendly guy, he didn't take too many things to heart and was easily able to brush off most insults. But the crash this morning had almost cost Jade her babies and in his eyes Dehlilah had been more concerned with getting Antonio into the restaurant than caring for the hurt girl. Still, the fact that she was here asking after Jade meant that Mack's voice wasn't cold, it was simply lacking its usual warmth.

"I would have helped, but I didn't know if you'd want us... To put our noses in your business," Mack wondering who 'our' was meant to be, Dehlilah and Antonio? Mack shook his head slightly. He was about to argue that it had only been 'his' business because he had been concerned, but decided to hold his tongue. He liked Dehlilah well enough, from the little he had seen of her around town. Besides a moment later she looked over her shoulder. She said goodbye, placed a hand on his arm and added "Thanks, seriously," before leaving.

After she left Mack turned back to the set-up, shaking his head as he saw that in the few minutes his attention had been elsewhere all chaos had erupted...

- 5:00 pm -

Mack sat back, enjoying the cool beer in his hand as he watched the cordons open and the first residents enter the festival. Mack was at one of the stalls set up outside the bar, fairy lights twinkled above his head and the setting sun was caught and held by the string of mirror-like, plastic crystals that were twined around a nearby lamp post. Soon enough the whole street would be lit by the fairy lights and street lamp, creating a magical setting for the night's festivities.

Mack's hangover of the morning was well and truly gone. In fact, if he found the right people he wouldn't be against making an event out of tonight. He finished his beer and signaled for the bar keep who passed him another. He popped it open, appreciating the tsk of goodness being released.
"To a good night." He said to the bar keep, tilting his bottle in a salute. He returned his gaze to the street, took a sip and leaned back, waiting for the night to begin.

ImageDehlilah was getting ready in her room. She had her hair in a intricate design and her makeup was perfect, not too much not too little. Just enough to look gorgeous in a casual way. Her outfit was a little on the sexy side but it wasn't slutty or anything it just hugged her body. She twirled, looking at herself in a full length mirror.

She smiled as she blew kisses to her dogs "Bye babies," She said as she shut the door. She had a her camera in her hand with the strap around her neck. Quickly pulling out her phone she opened a text message

To:Tony
Hey Tony, I'm on my way to the festival. See you soon
.

She began to take pictures as she went through the festival. She took pictures of people and the sites. She waved at a few people she recognized as she tugged down on her skirt as it hiked its way up her thigh. She rolled her eyes, mainly at herself and commanded herself to not be nervous. Truth be told she had a bit of a crush on Tony. But she would never admit that.

She stopped into a bar and bought herself a Alex's hard lemonade. She loves the sweet lemonade taste that masked the beer. Though she often forgot it was alcoholic. She smiled feeling the alcohol warm her insides. She began to look for Tony or Amanda.

She thought back about how Tony acted when he saw that girl and frowned. She had no problem covering for him, but she needed the whole story before she through herself under the bus. She also thought about the girl, what did she have to do with Tony? And maybe it was her but her stomach looked pretty big, like pregnant big. Tony seemed to notice too but he also just looked startled.

She noticed Mack and sat next to him, "Was anybody sitting here?" She asked with a smile. "I feel like we got off on the wrong foot. Sooo let's start over, I'm Dehlilah," she said holding her hand out, " And I promise I'm not usually a bitch who leaves injured woman in the streets, I just didn't want Tony to get in trouble with his dad. Because if he does, all he'll breaks lose." She added totally serious "Were supposed to lay low because nobody trusts us yet . A crash in the middle of the street is not laying low. "

She quickly pulled out her phone and opened another text message
To: Amanda
Hey, I'm at the bar, did you get to the festival yet

The festival was quickly getting busy as the town's residents entered. The sounds of rides, laughter and happy shouting filled the air. Mack watched it all from his seat by the bar's stall, sipping quietly on his beer.

His eyes caught and followed the figure of Dehlilah as she approached the bar and ordered her drink. A moment later she seemed to see Mack and approached, taking a seat beside him even as she asked if it was free.
"Be my guest" Mack replied, slightly uselessly now given that she was already seated.
"I feel like we got off on the wrong foot. Sooo let's start over, I'm Dehlilah,.. And I promise I'm not usually a bitch who leaves injured woman in the streets, I just didn't want Tony to get in trouble with his dad. Because if he does, all he'll breaks lose.... We're supposed to lay low because nobody trusts us yet . A crash in the middle of the street is not laying low. " Her apology seemed sincere, even if Mack was confused about the whole 'laying low' thing. There were a number of Greeks he trusted, so he didn't understand her reasoning for that. Still, he didn't want to cause a scene, especially not on a night like tonight.
"I'm Mackenzie, but everyone just calls me Mack" He said, gripping her outstretched hand and giving it a quick shake.

Dehlilah quickly pulled out her phone and sent a text off. Mack gave his bottle of beer a swirl before glancing back out to the festival. It was a beautiful evening for it and the night would be just as amazing. He hoped the whole thing went off without a hitch.

Ramses Atum

"Gosh I love you so much!" The words seemed to come so easily from Leslie. Ram thought that maybe, like himself, Leslie had been feeling this way for a while. It felt so good to hear those words from his lips,
"There are so many rides here, babe-" Leslie added a moment later. Ram, let out a laugh. 'Babe' had never been a pet name he had ever thought he'd be called. It just didn't sound like him at all.
"I love you too, but just call me Ram." Ramses said, softening his words with another kiss. Pet names were not for him.

A moment later the two were making their way through the crowds of festival goers, Leslie's hand firmly gripping Ramses'. Leslie would glance back every so often to make sure that Ram was still there, and each time Ram would smile. The feeling Leslie's attention and concern gave him was enough to forget that he was about to drag Ram on a ride. Festival rides were not Ram's style and he was already questioning why he can even suggested it in the first place. Especially when they joined a line for a ride of twirling teacups.
"We shall ride this first!... I rode a ride similar to this before at least ten times in a row a Disney World, so much spinning... I rode it so many times I got sick." Leslie said. Ram shook his head, a playful smile on his face.
"If you feel sick this time, just remember to aim out of the teacup." Ram teased, squeezing Leslie's hand playfully.
"I hope you enjoy this ride.... I think you will at least," Leslie added a moment later, leaning forward and locking lips with Ram. Ram felt his insides melt, his lips were on fire again and he didn't want it to stop.
"You know, I think I will enjoy it." Ram replied, although his eyes were locked on Leslie rather than the ride.

A moment later Leslie was pulling him into a teacup. The ride began, Leslie was turning the handrail in the centre to make their teacup spin even faster. Ram, one hand still held by Leslie, let his eyes close as he enjoyed the ride. He had to admit that this was more enjoyable than he had anticipated, or perhaps that was simply because Leslie was with him.
[i] "Disney World was fun, but nothing compares to spending time with you."
Leslie's voice floated over the sounds the music and ride. Ram opened his eyes, a blissful feeling spreading through him as he took in Leslie sitting opposite him. The lights and sights behind were spinning but Leslie sat clear and steady before him.
I wouldn't want to be here with anyone else. Ram admitted, a lazy smile stretching across his face.

Then Leslie's lips were on his, his tongue exploring Ram's mouth. Ram reached his free hand out, gently placing it on the back of Leslie's neck and pulling him closer. His fingers explored the ridges of his shoulders while his own tongue explored Leslie's mouth. Regretfully Ram pulled back from Leslie, a ridiculous grin spread across his face.
"That was fun." He muttered. The ride was slowly coming to a stop and Ram, surprisingly, was disappointed. True, he didn't like festival rides, but with Leslie everything was better.

As the pair stepped off the ride Ram took a quick glanced around the festival, searching for their next ride. His eyes fell on the Ferris wheel and he remembered his earlier promise of shouting Leslie a ride.
"Come on. It's my turn to pick now." He said, clasping Leslie's hand with his own and pulling him towards the ride.

Dehlilah smiled and tilted her head to the side "So Mack, what are you doing in here instead of enjoying this amazing carnival you set up," She said waving a waiter down and ordering some really fruity girlie sounding drink. When the waiter came back with some pink drink with a rose petal laying on the top. She appreciated how fitting it was. She turned her stool toward him so her knees were grazing his. She could feel her powers heightening meaning they're was alot of romance around her. She suddenly felt the stares of men and woman around the room. She ran hand along her hair, careful not to mess up the design. She reached out and clasped his hands standing up off the stool, "Go on a ride with me please?" She asked clutching his hand and looking up at him with pleading eyes. "I swear it'll be fun, I really don't want to be alone." She gazed around the room at the men looking hungrily at her, " Please?" She said again biting her lip. She was really starting to get nervous with the men looking at her. She suddenly felt angry that Tony ditched her, especially since he knew how dangerous today would be for her.

The stall the bar had set up was smaller than the inner bar, but since it was such a lovely evening it made perfect sense to be outside. It also allowed the patrons to have a wonderful view of the festival. Mack watched as the sun slowly began to set, leaving only the fairy lights and street lamps to illuminate the street.

Dehlilah had turned her attention back to Mack,
"So Mack, what are you doing in here instead of enjoying this amazing carnival you set up," She asked, tilting her head to the side. Mack shrugged,
"I thought I deserved a cold one" He remarked.

He watched with a raised eyebrow as Dehlilah ordered the most girly drink on the menu. Surely the drink was more sugar than anything else. Still, to each their own. If Dehlilah liked girly drinks then he had no problem with that.

What he did find slightly unnerving was when she turned on her stool, her knees brushing against his. Dehlilah ran a hand through her hair and Mack found himself wondering what it would feel like to run his own hand through her hair. Her hands left her blonde hair and clasped Mack's own.
"Go on a ride with me please?" She pleaded, looking up at him with her blue eyes. Mack found his head nodding, even as he fought to form words. "I swear it'll be fun, I really don't want to be alone... Please?" She added before she bit her lip.

It was only when she glanced around the bar stall that Mack himself noticed the number of other patrons staring at Dehlilah. At first he felt protective, but then he cocked his head to the side as he wondered why he felt that way. After all he hardly knew the girl. Pulling his hands out of Dehlilah's grasp he got up off his seat and took a step away from her.
"What did you do?" He asked, glancing again at the crowd of men staring at her. They hadn't been acting like that before. Mack racked his mind, finally remembering that Dehlilah was a descendent of Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of Love. Had she done something to make them feel attracted to her? Had she done something for him?

"No. Sorry. Not today." He replied quickly, turning on his heel and quickly leaving the stall. He didn't like being manipulated in any way. He didn't know if Dehlilah had purposefully meant to do it or not. But no doubt her powers were why all the men in the bar had suddenly turned towards Dehlilah too.

Dehlilah bit her lip feeling rejected and hurt, She felt a tear stream from her eye and anger swell up in her heart. She quickly caught up to him as he left the stall "That, see? This is why I didn't help Jade. You all make assumptions, if you haven't noticed people are falling in love all around us, I didn't ask for that." She said in a huff " I didn't ask for any of this, I sure as hell didn't ask to be afraid of getting raped everywhere I go" She added louder her arms motioning to the carnival as well as the bar stall "So next time you get high and mighty and assume I seduced somebody, you can..." She bit her lip shutting off the mean thing she wanted to say "Just don't" She said full blown mad. "If I wanted to manipulate you I could have done a hell of a lot worse things to you than ask for an escape route, read some mythology,you- you -you you ass " She stuttered turning on her heel and walking away with purpose. She hated this town, she hated that she was all alone. She hated that Tony ditched her. She hated that Amanda wasn't hear to comfort her. She hated that she snapped on Mack, but he deserved it. They were right, we don't belong here, they can't understand them. She turned to a small bench and sat on it.

A group of guys walked by and tried to hit on her but she glared them down. As far as she was concerned she was in no mood to smile and be polite today, she wanted to go home to her dogs. She wanted to curl up in her room with her sketch pad in her rose scented cottage where nobody had ever hurt her. She sighed heavily and pulled out a sketch book she started admiring the rides and drew dresses that reminded her of them. She tilted her head against the side of the cool bench and for the first time all day she felt.... relaxed? She walked over to a ring toss booth. She smiled and went over to the booth. "Hey lady, aren't you a doll three dollars for five rings?" The man, a red faced man who's round stomach seemed to jiggle when he laughed asked. She handed him six dollars in exchange for ten rings. A white teddy bear caught her eye and the man seemed to notice "Gotta get five rings on the bottles for em'" He said smiling.

She only made one her first attempt but finally made four the second, once she got the hang of it. He handed her the white bear and she left, waving him a good day. That's when she saw a girl. Only about sixteen who looked longingly at a local teenage boy. She smiled and sat next to her. She asked the girl why she seemed sad and the girl explained that the boy she liked would never feel the same. Dehlilah smiled and pointed to the local boy. The girl nodded making her auburn curls, already wild, bounce all over her heart shaped face. Dehlilah smiled and took the roses and pins out of her own hair letting it fall to her waist and did the girls hair in a braid and stuck the roses and pins in it. Revealing the girls lovely face. She smiled and told the girl to call the boy over, when he did Dehlilah lightly touched his shoulder. She didn't force him to love her or anything she just had him see her as a girl, they could do the rest. She smiled kissed her fingertips and waved them at the two before walking away. Now, she felt much better.

Mack walked away from the stall, hoping to put some distance between him and Dehlilah. But, a moment later, she had caught him up.
"That, see? This is why I didn't help Jade. You all make assumptions, if you haven't noticed people are falling in love all around us, I didn't ask for that." She said, her tone had definitely changed from the inviting one earlier, "I didn't ask for any of this, I sure as hell didn't ask to be afraid of getting raped everywhere I go" Mack couldn't help but raise his eyebrows at that. Surely she was old enough to be able to control her powers enough to not fear rape. One of her parents would have had similar powers and would have taught her, surely? It seemed rather irresponsible not to have control of something like that. It wasn't like Mack unconsciously called up gusts of wind when angry. However Mack chose not to share his concerns with Dehlilah, realising that it would only make the situation worse.
"If I wanted to manipulate you I could have done a hell of a lot worse things to you than ask for an escape route, read some mythology,you- you -you you ass" With that last barb Dehlilah left.

Mack watched her go, biting his lip as a sudden wave of guilt overcame him. He may not agree with the way she controlled her power, but he disliked seeing someone upset, especially when he was partially responsible. Still, he was wary of approaching her again both because of her powers and because he guessed that his appearance wouldn't be well received. So instead he turned in the opposite direction and began wondering down through the festival. His eyes scanned both the stalls and the crowd, searching for anything that might catch his fancy. His eyes passed over a stall selling charmed trinkets and came to rest on one containing miniature snow globes.

Despite helping set up the festival, Mack had little idea of the majority of what was on offer. He approached the snow globe stall to get a better look. Bending down he peered at one globe and a smile spread across his face. It was a miniature version of Northbay, complete with town's people walking around and the lake lapping at the shore. Mack picked it up and brought the object right up to his face. His amazement increased as he realised the globe was actually showing the current lantern festival. It was an outstanding piece of magic. Mack quickly looked at the other globes and found other towns and cities from around the world. He debated with himself for a while before buying a globe that held the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, in it's centre.

Snow globe comfortably in his pocket, Mack continued down the street. He quickly spotted a familiar face, his brother. with him was Layla, Bryce's girlfriend. The two looked like they were on a date and Mack didn't want to intrude, but he hadn't seen his brother in a while so he thought he would at least say hi.
"Bryce!" Mack called, waving a hand in greeting as he made his way towards his brother. As he joined the couple he smiled at Layla, "I hope my brother is winning lots of large, fluffy soft toys for you" Mack said, winking at the girl.

Ramses Atum

"You have a spectacular gift!... Everything you do is perfect, Ram." Leslie's compliment brought a smile to Ram's face. How could Ram have guessed when he woke this morning that his evening would be like this?

Ram had a last fleeting glance of the world beyond the pair's Ferris wheel carriage before his lips connected with Leslie's. and his world became confined to the immediate space around him. Leslie's mouth locked with his. Fireworks seemed to erupt in his mind, the mere feel of Leslie's hands in his hair sent thrills down his spine. Then Ram felt Leslie's hand push up under his shirt. The feel of Leslie's fingers stroking Ram's naked chest created a hunger in Ram's pit, he wanted more. As Leslie's hand wondered down Ram's chest and stopped just short of the hem of his pants. Ram's breath stopped short and the pressure of his lips on Leslie's became more urgent.

As Leslie's hand paused and then moved back up, Ram felt an undeniable disappointment. The rational part of his mind, that never rarely left him, thought that doing anything beyond kissing was probably not a good idea given that they were well within range of basically the whole town. Ram's screen of floating lights did something to hide his and Leslie's movements, but he doubted it concealed them properly.
However the other part of his brain, the passionate side currently on fire with desire, didn't care. As Leslie began kissing Ram's jawline, moving down to his neck, Ram ran his hands down Leslie's back. His hands found their way under and up Leslie's shirt, caressing his back. His fingers dug into the skin just above Leslie's hips as his lips reached Ram's neck. Ram tilted his head back, closing his eyes as he let the blissful sensation sink in.

He barely noticed as the Ferris wheel came to a stop beneath them, the two now at the top of the ride. It appeared that Leslie's prediction had come true, the two were stuck at the top. Ram opened his eyes briefly and removed one hand from under Leslie's shirt. He called back the small spheres of light, each one sinking into his hand. They left a small imprint of heat before completely disappearing. The natural night lights slowly came into focus. Below him, Ram hoped that the lack of light would mean that anyone looking up at the top Ferris wheel carriage would only see the carriages below them and not Leslie and Ram's interaction.

Gwyn is briefly distracted from Jade's swelled stomach by an unfamiliar man with blonde hair, likely a Greek, who comes up beside the pregnant woman, hovering in such a way that hints at him restraining himself from touching Jade. The redhaired girl keeps her expression as neutral as she can manage, but it is difficult to hide her surprise and, to some extent, suspicion- besides, she's never been the best at hiding her opinions and thoughts, really, honest in all aspects of the world. She is about to say something, or rather ask something, but Jade cuts in before Gwyn can get in a word, the girl's expression some mix of conviction and uncertainty. With her first words, Gwyn turns her gaze away from Jade's face and back to the swelled stomach that certainly had not been there the last time they had passed by each other. That much is obvious, Gwyn thinks to herself, feeling slightly numb with the surprise. She bites back the comment, though, a struggle for the girl, before looking back at Jade's face, studying it carefully. The next words are more informative, and more startling, than the first- quintuplets. That is a whole lot of children- a lot of little lives.

Still, Jade does not allow Gwyn a word in edgewise, tossing out these bombs like a plane in World War 2- it is certainly a lot to take in, and Jade doesn't seem to be giving out the information in the most merciful way, instead ripping off the bandage. Well, Gwyn can hardly complain- she is often guilty of the same thing, not the sort to dance around a subject or try and soften a blow. Things need to be said as honestly as possible, and it's better to feel it now then have a gradual unleashing of surprises and blows. It isn't in Gwyn's nature, not really, to think of things as unfair- she is the sort who will right the wrong rather than observing the wrongs of it. But now, she can't help but feel that Jade is being unfair to her. Suddenly dropping this weight upon her, and finishing with a knockout punch- tearfully asking not simply for forgiveness, but for Gwyn to help her through this.

And while Gwyn may feel it unfair to herself, she has never been the sort to easily ignore such sincere, and unexpected, plea for help. "This is rather sudden," she begins to say slowly, but she knows that she'll give in- she can't leave someone so vulnerable, especially not Jade. However, Jade's next words distract her once more, reminding her of the strange man who is standing so close to Jade- she had, in a brief lapse, forgotten his presence- or perhaps ignored it in order to focus on what she considers more pressing patterns, such as her ex-girlfriend being very pregnant.

One can't blame the red-haired girl for looking at Tony accusingly when she is given his identity- the father of the children in Jade's stomach. It is a brief look of resentment, because as a child of Forseti she must know better than to place the entirety of blame upon people who are not deserving of the whole weight. After all, how was he to know that Jade had been, at the time, spoken for? If anything, it remains Jade's fault- something that Gwyn may never entirely forgive her for. The young woman pushes up her glasses and crosses her arms, not looking either of them in the eye- instead focusing on Jade's stomach.

But then that pleading voice returns, Jade once more imploring that Gwyn help her. Insisting that Gwyn had been the level-headed one, that Jade isn't ready to be a mother- not yet. Why not have the father help? Gwyn thinks, somewhat bitter despite herself when Jade insists that she can't do it without her. She looks over at the clock- sees that the Jazz band will be starting soon. She might end up missing the first bit of it. All of this is not the sort of thing she wants to be a part of- like those terrible reality shows about people who have done stupid things, gotten themselves wrapped up in drama. That isn't Gwyn- Gwyn is practical, driven, and not the sort to be entangled in such a web. Yet it has happened anyway, despite her best intentions.

All the girl can do is sigh, and look back at Jade's face again. "What am I supposed to do? How am I supposed to help?" she asks, voice far more tired than it ought to be.

Bryce is waiting for Layla's decision still when a familiar voice calls out, followed by the sight of a similarly familiar figure striding towards the couple. It is his brother, of course- Bryce is unsurprised to find Mack out and about with the festival, especially given as the man had helped with the set up for the occasion earlier- and nearly hurt himself doing so, from what Bryce had seen. Mack has always been the social sort, both of the brothers have, so of course he'd be about in a festivity held for the entirety of their small, but strange, town.

"Hey!" Bryce greets his brother in return, raising his hand and gesturing in one of those sweeping waves, like a window wiper with the rhythmic motion before his brother reaches their location. When Mack jokes about Bryce winning Layla a prize, followed by a wink for the girl, Bryce feels, certainly unnecessarily, a bit irritated. He puts his arm over Layla, admittedly a possessive move, and then smiles once more at his brother. As far as he knows, Layla has no interest in his elder brother, but as a brother who has always felt a bit left in his elder brother's shadow, he can't help but feel slightly threatened by Mack's presence- just a little bit.

"I was working on it- we were going to the dunking booth, actually, but it seems to be closed for the moment. And how've you been doing? Win any games yet?" Bryce asks, smiling in a more relaxed manner now, curious about whether Mack has won any for the primary reason of wanting to win more games than his elder brother has- sibling rivalry, if you will.

[Sorry that Bryce's post is so short- waiting for a post for Layla]
