Ancestor:
Ra was the ancient Egyptian Solar deity and upholder of Maat, the Egyptian concept of truth, balance and order.
He was the ruler of the Egyptian Pantheon before Osiris took his seat.
Powers:
Ramses' powers are the ability to manipulate, generate and absorb light particles. This power, tuned from a young age, has both benign and malignant tendencies.
The more benign aspects of his gift include the ability to bend light around him to become, in effect, invisible. This is achieved by manipulating the light particles in such a way that light rays will 'miss' him so that anyone nearby will not see him.
He is capable of solidifying light particles to create a shield of light, which is able to deflect any physical attack or projectile.
The more destructive parts of his gift includes the ability to gather a condensed sphere of light. When in his grasp it is fairly harmless, but it can become extremely explosive if Ramses lets it. On contact with a foreign surface it will explode.
Like all of Ra's descendents Ramses is strongest during the midday sun. Ram draws strength from it and always feel more invigorated given time soaking up the rays.
Weaknesses:
Complete darkness weakens Ramses. He can still generate light but the darkness seems to sap his strength much faster, meaning it takes him much longer and his constructs are generally much less effective.
His arrogance and pride often blinds him from making objective decisions. He is extremely honest and will speak the truth, but his truth may be skewed by his pride.
Ram also has a fear of rats, a childhood fear that he has not been able to shake.
Strengths:
Ramses is a talented sailor and can often be found on the town's lake. 'The wind rushing past and the sun shining down, nothing could be better'
Ram is also a competent cook and frequently makes dinner for his family.
The midday sun is the best time for a descendent of Ra. It is the time when their powers are at their peak. Ram always feels at his best around midday.
Thoughts: 'The Norse, a barbaric group of individuals who have always given more emphasis to the physical aspects of their powers than the mental. Baldr's descendents? Oh yes, the other 'sun god'. They're powers over light have no way of comparing to my family's.'
'The Greeks are little better than the Norse. I have heard that it was in-fighting that caused the destruction of their old home. If they attempt anything of the sort here things will not go well for them.'
'Ah, and finally the Egyptians. While I can see that we are less than perfect, you have to admit that we show a balance between physical, mental and magical capability.'

Personality:
Arrogant and with no small amount of pride for his rich heritage, Ramses often comes across as a cold, distant person. As the descendent of Ra, one of the major Egyptian deities and the son of one of the town Elders, Ram has always felt that there are certain expectations he must live up to. Ra has always been an important god in the Ancient Egyptian religion. It was believed that all life forms were created by Ra and in some eras he was given rule over the sky, earth and the underworld.
Ra was also the upholder of Maat, the Egyptian concept of truth, balance and order. Ram believes wholeheartedly in the concept, even if his way of upholding it might be considered slightly skewed. He believes that order is an essential part of the world. For him order is law and he has no qualms stepping in to restore order where he feels it is needed, even if his intervention is unwanted.
Honesty is another trait that Ramses values. Honesty with ones self and with others. He is a very grounded person and understands what makes him him. Ram believes that lying to yourself is a pointless practice and he will often show complete contempt for anyone that he feels lacks the confidence to accept themselves for who they are. Similarly he detests anyone who feels the need to lie to others.
Ram has often been called a 'stick in the mud', and he would most likely agree with this description. He has his opinions and he is not easily swayed from them. Ram isn't a rule breaker, he has always done as he was told and believes that the rules are there for a reason. He isn't the party animal that most young people his age tend to be and he rarely uses his powers irresponsibly.
Ram is confident and driven. When he sets his sights on something or someone you can be guaranteed that he will have it. He has always been a hard-worker and excelled in his school work and extra-circular activities.
For all his less than ideal points, once Ram has made a friend he rarely lets the friendship fall apart. For those that he considers his equal he can be loyal, kind and helpful. His friends generally see the warmer side of him, the side that is prone to making bad jokes and is always willing to hear out a problem. He is an extremely trustworthy friend and will never betray a friend. He is also a reliable person to have around. In troubling situations he can always be counted on.

History:
Ramses was named after his father, Ramsey Amut. He is the oldest son of Mr and Mrs Amut.
Even as a young boy Ramses always looked up to his father. Ramsey Amut was a wise man who represented and followed Maat in his every action. When Ram's grandfather passes, shortly after Ram's birth, his father was offered the seat on the Elder's council. Ramsey accepted and has been a voice of reason and balance for the twenty off years he has sat on the council. Ram has always been proud of his father and from a young age aspired to be like him.
His childhood was typical for one with his capabilities. From a young age he was aware of his powers and was frequently found playing with balls of light. Ramses would mimic his parents as they used their powers and was soon able to create a relatively strong force field and turn himself invisible for short periods of time. Both powers proved useful for the young boy. Invisibility more so than the force field. Given his current desire to follow rules, it is surprising to think that has a young boy Ram would often become invisible and wonder through the town, collecting interesting tidbits of information. However if he was ever asked about what he had been doing, mostly by his parents, he would always tell the truth. He was often disciplined for this and eventually he stopped doing it altogether.
His explosive spheres of light didn't develop until a later age, thankfully. As a young boy he most likely wouldn't have been able to control it as easily, but as a young teenager he had better control over his powers and over his desires. His love of order meant that he was never likely to abuse his powers, no matter how much others might insist.
School was a relatively enjoyable experience for Ram. He made a small number of friends and has proved a loyal companion to them ever since. He always excelled in his classes, a mixture of a good work ethic and a sharp brain. On completing school he moved instantly to studying towards a degree in business through correspondence. Between his studies and the work he does with the sailing club Ram is kept reasonably busy.
