Craig cocked his head to the side, realizing he must have misinterpreted Izzie's vague answer. Or perhaps Edei did. Either way he leaned his hard case up against the nearby wall and turned his attention back to the bassist, just in time to see her lean forward and do something he had never in his wildest dreams ever thought of. Did she just slap Izzie's ass? His mouth fell open at the sight and he had to force himself to stop gawking at the scene, quickly closing his mouth and looking over at the singer to see how she was going take that; If she was going to try to eviscerate Edei or not. He looked back down at the bassist who told him to follow her so she could fill him in on the question he had asked a minute ago. Probably the best idea. He thought and followed after her, glancing back at Izzie and trying not to chuckle a little. Holy shit... Craig did not think that there was enough liquor in the world to make him try that one. He knew that Cormac had an incident with Izzie once when alcohol was involved but he supposed that was also Cormy, although he didn't know why the drummer wouldn't try that with a different girl. Wait, did Izzie even classify as a female? He briefly wondered. Eah, whatever. Not enough booze in the world to make me try that, even as a joke. He thought to himself, chuckling a little and glancing behind them for a moment. "I would not have tried that if I were you." He told her, honestly, right before she sprang into her story about the bassist.

Apparently Edei had met the guy back in high school, which he supposed would explain the happy reunion if you had finally come across someone after all that time. Hell, Craig might actually like to see one of his old buddies from high school, since he rarely saw any of the good ones anymore. Hadn't heard from anyone else out there since high school, whether they be friend or family. He tilted his head lightly as they started walking toward the bar that Edei had mentioned earlier and briefly if she knew the guy that ran it or something since he highly doubted there was any bars open at this hour. He had to remind himself to focus as Edei started talking again, telling him that this Vic guy had taught her how to play the drums and bass. "Oh, really? Cool. He sounds like a pretty neat guy then." He said, thinking that he might be kind of interesting to talk to. Craig liked getting to know everyone, it was one of his skills to make buddies with almost anyone. "And me? Eah, I was probably about ten when I started playing a crappy little acoustic." He told her with a chuckle. "I also tried to play the drums and sucked at it. Bad." He said with a shake of his head, remembering what a train wreck it had been. Needless to say, he was definitely sticking with the guitar now. "I'm not even good at Rock Band drums." He said, looking up toward the sky as he recalled the time that he had tried to play on the little plastic controller type thing and gotten his ass kicked at the game (As well as Guitar Hero) by a five year old.

After a she finished up her last piece of the song, Charlotte rested her drumsticks on her legs and brushed a wavy strand of blonde hair out of her eyes that had escaped from the messy bun she had pulled it up into to keep it out of her eyes while she played. She relaxed a moment and listened as Ted brought the new guy over, talking with him. A good sign, obviously he couldn't have blown it from the get-go. She knew that Ted wouldn't hesitate to kick the guy out since she'd seen it plenty of other times. Something Charlotte rather appreciated since she would hate to have to work with some of those cocky bastards that had auditioned previously and honestly, no one wanted band drama.

She listened as Ted told the guy to mess with the settings if he wanted before she began twirling her sticks, wondering what Ted thought of the guy so far. He couldn't think he was a total asshole, obviously but she wasn't sure if he had his hopes up with this one or not. Admittedly, Charlotte would be quite surprised if he did since the guy didn't look like much, but as Charlotte well knew, appearances could be very deceiving. Ah, well, I guess we'll get to see what this guy can do. She thought with a smile as Ted grabbed his HƤgstrom and told the guy to get warmed up before asking her to count them off. "Sounds good to me." She said, twirling her right stick once more before doing as asked.

A small sigh came from the grungy looking man, but he figured that it had been too much to hope for. Victor would have to settle for a Hartke combo, wich was fine by him. As long as it meant that he could get his bass plugged in and actually hear it again. It had been so long that it seemed like years ago. Wait... It is years ago. He sat for a moment in his own thoughts, not at all registering what was going on around him. After a few minutes, he forced himself to snap out of it and be present, so he could give them a good impression. Something about a distortion pedal? Victor tried to recall what Ted said last as he followed him into the rehearsal room. Victor didn't really use distortion pedals very much for his bass, since he'd never owned one. On the other hand, he was good at laying down a heavy sounding bass that rumbled in the background, putting more force to the sound. "Thanks, uh.. Maybe I'll try fitting it in somewhere." As soon as the words had left his mouth, he regretted them. It made him sound like he didn't know what it was, or what he was going to do with it. Victor knew, he was just so uncertain about everything at the moment, and afraid to blow this chance. There was also the thing with Edei in the back of his head, though it hadn't really occurred to him that he had actually met her again now. "Right." Victor gave Ted an smile though it only lasted for a moment, and didn't quite reach his eyes. It was admittedly a little hard for him to read the Cor Leonis frontman, but something told him that he was quickly going to determine whether to keep Victor, or kick him out.

It took too much of his focus to let the man answer, as Ted placed the pedal near his amp. Victor leaned down and plugged everything in, getting ready to play. He turned the amp on and shrugged to himself, satisfied with the sound though he knew it could be much better. Or maybe that was because his heart already belonged to another amplifier. Turning the volume down on his bass, Victor fiddled around for a moment just to get the feel of it, then turning it back up again. And it still sounds great... Now that brought a smile to his face. Having it plugged in to an amp after so long, and even getting to toy around with a pedal was heaven for him. "Free jam? Sure." How he'd ever gotten inside the studio, standing with his bass plugged into an amp, about to play with Cor Leonis, was a mystery to him. It was probably a mystery to the Cor Leonis members as well. Victor Holden was a damn fine bass player, but all he could do was hope that the people around him now would see that, disregarding his appearance. His eyes moved around the room, to Ted, to Charlotte, to Bey - reminding him of the fact that the only name he could remember was Ted's. I wonder what she's thinking. The first look he'd gotten from Charlotte didn't seem very approving. Focus. Breathe. Stay calm... Victor gave a nod to let them know that he was ready, glancing over at Charlotte as she was about to start them off. Well, here goes nothing...

Edei laughed at Craigā€™s Rock Band admission and made one of her own. ā€œI have to tell ya that I can only play that game on easy, no joke. I blame it on the bright, flashy, distracting colors that whiz by at a mile a minute.ā€ Casting a quick sideways glance at the guitarist as they neared the run down brick building which housed the Winnerā€™s Circle bar, her face lit with a quick grin and she tacked on, ā€œIā€™ll blame it on my A.D.D.ā€

Instead of marching to the front door, which was quite obviously closed and locked with steel bars blocking the darkened windows, Edei curved a path around the building where a fire escape led to a second level.

Speaking of A.D.Dā€¦.

ā€œYou think Izzieā€™s going to murder me when we get back?ā€

A snicker left her lips as she pulled at the chain to lower the metal staircase and she sprung onto the bottom step as soon as it was within reach so that her weight could lock it in place. Ascending quickly, as if she had done this a dozen times before, Edei wandered to the nearest window and rapped a fist upon it rapidly.

ā€œAYE! Z!ā€ Edei yelled, shielding the sun from her eyes with a hand raised over her brow so that she could peer within the window to see if there was any movement.

ā€œGet your ass up! We need some stuff!ā€

A minute passed, then two, until a partially-clad bearded man with shadowed eyes unlocked and slid open the window for them.

ā€œWhat in the hell do you want this early, Edei? Fuckinā€™ ā€˜ell. I just rolled into bedā€¦ā€ He stared up at the clock hung upon the wall, moving back a few steps to allow the two band mates into his apartment. ā€œAn hour ago? Shit. Get whatcha need and get outta here. Iā€™ll tack it on with everything else ya owe me. Keep this up and youā€™re going to owe me a shift at the bar with all your tips.ā€

Edei swung in first, her petite frame easily slipping through the rickety window and the moment her feet touched the floor, she was already off in the direction of another door. As she passed by the large Queen-sized bed, a blonde stirred from beneath the covers and peered quizzically at the source of all of the noise.

ā€œThanks, Z!ā€ She called out, tossing open the door that led from Zā€™s apartment to the bar downstairs and she waved Craig over, afraid that he was going to double back and run for it.

ā€œOh and Z, meet Craig. Craig, Z.ā€ She had no idea who the chick was so she wasnā€™t about to even attempt introductions there, better to ignore the blonde so they could go grab the alcohol and get back to Izzie and Cormy before they lit the studio on fire.

Taking the steps two at a time, Edei made her way down the steps and flicked on a light switch which slightly illuminated the bar as they entered. Dim lights were supposed to be some sort of ambience but Edei knew the real reason for the Winnerā€™s Circle being so dark was the fact that Z was too damn cheap to buy more than a handful of bulbs every year. If one blew out, fuck it. Heā€™d replace it when people were crashing into each other or breaking shit but not a moment before then.

ā€œWhat does the boss lady like? You know?ā€

Edei made her way behind the counter, picking up a few unopened bottles and setting them up on the marred wooden surface.

Ted smiled as he heard the familiar hard-hitting drum pattern, and quickly tried to think of something to play. He could play anything out there, a whole cornucopia of various chord shapes and modal licks. All of it was possible so long as he fit it to the rhythm. Oddly, though, only one idea stuck out to him, a simpler power-chord based riff. With a short melodic lick to cap it, his little contribution was finished. He nodded to Victor as he played, inviting him to help lay down the rhythm. He looked away from the bassist briefly, realizing that he was probably putting the (presumably) younger man under tremendous pressure by watching him so hawkishly. He focussed on the ceiling, noticing that a small piece of drywall up in the corner seemed to be moving with the rhythm of his riff. He then heard a clear but powerful growl from nearby, and recognized it as the Hartke doing its magic. He noted immediately the sense of groove in the newcomer's playing: it was uncannily organic. Ted had learned his rhythmically complex riffing over several months at least, and in theory several years, as he had always felt his playing expanding daily since he dedicated himself formally to the guitar, about 20 years ago now that he recalled.

But this, this was not learned. Hell, given his condition, Ted would have been surprised if the guy had taken a formal lesson in his life. Lessons could get pretty pricey, he mused, remembering the absurd amounts he had either shelled out for lessons or considered shelling out before his parents told him better. But with all that money, Ted knew he could not have bought the feel that Victor unmistakably had. That was innate, rare, valuable. At that moment, Ted's esteem for Victor went up tenfold. But he wasn't sold yet. Some bassists fit the jam environment better, and Cor Leonis was definitely not the Grateful Dead. Though we could use fans like the Deadheads, Ted thought to himself before he came back to reality and let the jam continue for a minute or so. Finally, he stopped playing and motioned for quiet. "All right, good, good. Now the fun part. Charlotte, Bey, you pick. Anything off the first album. Just not the friggin' drunk song."

Ted despised that song, actually titled "Tack". He called it "the drunk song," mostly because the lyrics had been written after Ted had drunk half a bottle of a drink twice as alcoholic as he had suspected. God, the hangover after that night was awful. Worse, the record's producer loved the schizophasic nonsense Ted had penned, though about a third was lost to the Evil Demon of Illegibility. What was legible, the producer pestered them into making into a song. It had, of course, become surprisingly popular at shows, which only contributed to Ted's hate for it. He intended to play it as little as possible (once playing "Freebird" instead, to mixed reception), and just hoped it would die a quick death.

Of course, though, before Bey or Charlotte could say anything, a detuned and massively distorted guitar sonically pierced the wall, startling him. Guess the walls weren't so soundproof, Ted noted ruefully as he calmed himself and covered his ears against the continuing playing. Sounded like Psychosis had similar ideas to his own. He sighed, realizing that things were not going to improve. Might be best to get out and at least talk with the prospective bassist. If he could get along with the others in the band, that improved his standing even more, though it was already pretty good, at least for Ted. He announced his plan as loudly as he could. "It looks like Izzie wants to loudness-war us out! Well, she can win for now! Let's get clear for a bit and get to know the prospective member better!" He removed his guitar and turned his amp off, hoping they would at least get his nonverbal message if they couldn't hear him. He wouldn't blame them if they couldn't hear him, over all that...noise. Dear God, the atonality.

"Eah, I'm just bad at the game. On easy I'm not too bad though." Craig said, chuckling a little as he looked over at Edei. He was pretty sure he was simply just bad at the game and genuinely didn't understand why someone wouldn't just pick up a real fucking guitar and play it instead of wasting their time on a plastic controller and a game that wouldn't get them anywhere in life. Pulling himself away from his thoughts, he focused his gaze on the brink building that was declared to be a bar and briefly wondered why they weren't headed to a liquor store instead. The bar was closed. Would there even be a liquor store open at this hour? He wondered and contemplated checking his watch as he followed along just as he heard Edei's voice followed by the sound of jangling chains. "Hmm? Oh, I...genuinely have no idea. I wouldn't have tried that in a million years...Cormac might have a slightly better idea of that though." He told her with a chuckle of remembrance at some of the things the drummer had done in the past involving their band leader and a certain amount of alcohol. "Plus, if we bring her alcohol we should be back on her...not shit list." Craig said, thinking that was probably the best way to describe it before shrugging and looking up at the fire escape. Is she supposed to be doing that? He wondered, watching her climb up the stairs before following. She looked like she knew what she was doing at least.

The idea that she knew what she was doing was reinforced when she called out someone's name and declared what they were there for. He didn't say anything, merely standing back and letting Edei do whatever she was doing. Whatever, she obviously knows the guy. He thought, shrugging off his earlier uncertainty as he watched her exchange words with the man inside the building.

When they were finally granted admittance, Craig watched Edei swing her small frame in through the window and then looked at it skeptically. He was quite a bit larger than Edei and highly doubted he was going to be able to do it as easily. He sighed slightly and then rested his hands on the window and swung in, although not nearly as smoothly as Edei. His broad shoulders and solidly muscled body did not grant him the same lithe grace that Edei's did. The young guitarist looked about the room for a moment as he followed after Edei, a small smirk finding it's way onto his lips as he spotted the blonde. "Hey." Craig said, nodding once to the man when introduced however he was pretty sure the guy wasn't as interested in introductions as he was in returning to bed.

Once they reached the bar, Craig raised a brow at the slight illumination of the room. At first he had thought it would take a moment for the lights to brighten, but this seemed as good as it got. He shrugged a little at Edei's question, having never paid much attention to what Izzie was drinking. "Anything strong, I figure. I just want some beer. Preferably some Coors, if I can get my hands on it." He said, nodding.

Charlotte kept her playing steady and observed the others in the room, noting Ted had averted his gaze from the auditioning bassist as it was probably adding some unnecessary stress to the situation. It was always nerve wracking to audition and having someone observe your every move didn't help. Charlotte's blonde head immediately popped up from her playing a moment or so later. It had nothing to with the fact she was very comfortable with the rhythm at the moment, but more that she was surprised by what she heard. It didn't sound sterile, polished and perfect, more as though it was natural, something that wove it's way into the song and found it's place there. Charlotte was definitely impressed by his raw talent and had no idea how little she had expected of him until now that he had shown them what they could do.

Letting her playing come to a halt, Charlotte waited in silence for Ted to start speaking. She smiled a little at that and nodded, however there was a hint of a smirk there when Ted mentioned Tack. Charlotte had always kind of liked that song, in a strange kind of way since it was just so...unique, thanks to how it had been written. She would never mention it to Ted though. Looking over at the guitarist, Charlotte briefly wondered if Bey had anything in mind already because she sure didn't.

Holy shit. Charlotte thought, putting a hand to her ear and looking over her shoulder at the wall directly behind her. Guess the walls aren't soundproof. She had to a smirk a little though as it brought back memories of her death metal days. She was game for a loudness war, but she highly doubted that Ted was as she listened for Cormac's playing. As she had suspected, Ted was not enthused with the idea and so she shrugged and set her sticks down. Getting to know the guy was a good idea and so far she had no idea what he was like - all she could say was that she liked his playing style and that she thought he could use a shower.

Had he held his hands out, Victor was certain that he would be able to see them shaking. It had gone better than he had expected, but the man was far from satisfied. His playing had been fine, but he was a diamond in the rough. It wasn't hard for him to play along and all that, and play along, but there was still a few things he needed to sort out. Relax, it's the first time you play with others in many years. Hell... Since you played with Edei. Then there was the verdict...

Would Cor Leonis be able to decide today, or would they have to wait and think? So many thoughts made his head hurt so Victor closed his eyes for a moment and breathed deeply. It was easier to just go with the flow and figure out what they thought. What he had initially feared would happen at some point happened already. They wanted to get to know him. Had they figured out that he was a homeless man, giving his last shot at things with this audition. Victor set his only possesion -other than what he wore - down on the floor and sighed. He smiled slightly, turning the Hartke amp off. "Should I just leave everything in here?" The pressure of the situation and the fact that he didn't know the people who surrounded him, made him uncertain as to how he should handle everything.

A memory flashed into his mind, back to his time in school. The hours he'd spent laughing his ass of with Edei and their friends, and all the time spent teaching her to play. I wonder if you can hear it. Victor smirked at that. He couldn't help but be curious as to whether you could tell that he had taught her to play, even though it was such a long time ago. "Could we maybe go outside, so we don't have to listen to that shit?" His face turned from smiling to completely serious as he gestured for the door. It was so obvious that the other band was trying to start a loudness-war. That was what irritated him, that any grown person would actually do that. It had surprised him when Tes had simply told them to stop playing, which seemed like the better way to handle it. Also, Victor hated bullshit. Accordion to him, trying to play louder than the other band in the next room, classified as bullshit.

ā€œWell, I have no idea what Izzie or Cormac prefer so Iā€™ll grab Jack, Jameson and Joseā€¦ā€ She spoke as she plucked bottles of the Jack Daniels, Jameson whiskey and Jose Cuervo from the shelving behind the bar, tucking them beneath her arm as she moved out from behind the counter and headed towards the back wall. There was a silver door with a large handle and she tugged it with her free hand, balancing her liquor against her hip. A large walk-in fridge was revealed since she assumed Craig was more of an American beer drinker than a German beer drinker, meaning he preferred it icy instead of warm. With a swift gesture, she motioned him over and pointed to the cases of beer stacked upon each other.

ā€œGrab whatever you want, muscles, and letā€™s go! I donā€™t want to piss off Izzie by taking our time shopping.ā€ Though she probably should be terrified of the lead singerā€™s reaction to everything she had done thus far, Edei couldnā€™t help but grin. Life hadnā€™t been dull in the short amount of time since she had joined Psychosis that was for sure.

Rounding her way around the tables until she was near the stairs once more, Edei shouted at Z to thank him for the goods and surprisingly she didnā€™t go out the same way they had come in. Instead, she cut a path straight towards the front door, wrenching it open and holding it for Craig so they could make their grand escape back to the recording studio.

More to herself than to Craig, she inquired out loud, ā€œAre we alcoholics if weā€™re drinking this early? I mean, seriously. Iā€™ve had drinks at this specific time before but it was usually when I was winding down instead of just getting started.ā€

A frown set upon her lips as she maneuvered the three glass bottles in her arms again, trying to make sure that none of them shattered upon the ground as she shut the door to the bar behind them and began walking.

It didnā€™t take them long to make their way back to the studio and Edeiā€™s ears were immediately greeted with music that was both aggressive and powerful and she practically sprinted ahead so that she could get back to the band.

Knowing she wouldnā€™t be heard over the music, she simply held up the liquor in her hands and then bowed both deeply and dramatically towards Izzie. The trio of bottles was then set down onto the nearest flat surface so that Edei could wander off and grab her bass to set up the ā€˜jam sessionā€™.

"That should work." Craig told Edei, doubting that Izzie or Cormac would have any problem with that as he watched the bassist grab the bottles and slip them under her arm. Craig couldn't help but wonder what damage Izzie and Cormac could have created in the time that the two of them had been gone - Both of those two were quite temperamental and they had not been off on the best foot with Cor Leonis. Okay, more like Izzie didn't like the other band - the blonde chick didn't seem to have any problems with anybody even though Izzie had been hollering the second she set foot in the studio parking lot. It didn't take much to get Cormy set off either though, as Craig remembered the many a time he had to break up a fight because other man had decided to pick a fight with someone - quite possibly someone who would beat the shit out of him.

"Alright, cool." Craig said as they reached a large walk in fridge and rubbed his palms together with a smirk. He looked over the bottles before selecting a case of Coors, then turning back to Edei and heading back out. "I know...I just thinking about the shit that could've gone down while we've been away." He told her, shaking his head. He was a little anxious to get back, to be honest - but then again, he was also hoping that by the time they got back that Izzie had forgotten about what Edei's hand had come in contact with right before they left.

Edei called her thanks to the Z guy and then made her way across the room to the door, much to Craig's relief. He didn't really want to crawl through that window again and it seemed that Z had some, uh...company and he didn't really want to disturb them. He stepped outside and then rested his hand on the door, holding it for Edei until she made her way outside so they could head on back to the studio.

The question that his bassist posed was actually a pretty good one. Craig had never really thought about it before and simply shrugged. "I...have no fucking idea. I'm going to go with no. We just like alcohol. A lot. So we drink it...a lot." He said, chuckling a little. Craig didn't normally drink this early, but he did drink quite often. "Do you want some help with that?" The muscular guitarist inquired, nodding toward the bottles Edei was carrying, not wanting to make her try to hold onto all of those when he had a free hand. He could at least offer, he figured.

It didn't take them long to reach the studio, and when they arrived they could easily hear the distinct sound of Izzie and Cormac jamming. What surprised him a little, was how loud it was - Or well, the fact that it didn't seem as though the walls were soundproof. Edei bounded forward and Craig followed shortly after, although with slightly less enthusiasm. Wonder how Cor Leonis feels about this. He wondered as he glanced toward the other room, hearing nothing from the other room. He set down the beer and then quickly went and grabbed his B.C Rich from where he had propped it up in the main room.

When the young man returned with the axe, he plugged it into his amp and turned his gaze to the others to see what they were doing.

Ted shrugged at Victor's suggestion. To be honest the idea had occurred to him, but he wasn't going to broach it unless the others seemed genuinely uncomfortable. And...well, they did, so he took the opportunity to make a command decision. "Alright, let's head outside. The weather's nice if I remember right." He led the way to the door, holding the door to let the others out ahead of him. As he closed the door behind him, he listened a moment for the buzzsaw guitar jam, now at full volume and in full force. Regardless, he could actually hear himself think now, and made a mental note that the studio's sound insulation was godawful. He would need to have a word with the manager about that. Unacceptable, especially with a band like Psychosis grinding away. Christ.

He tore himself away from his bitter irritation, and turned to the prospective recruit. Time to play job interviewer. What question ought he bring up first? Boarding? Nah, experience would be better. "Victor, that was some damn fine playing, especially for a warmup. How long have you been playing the bass?" He was tempted to ask about where he studied, but had a feeling he knew the answer anyway, and didn't want to intimidate him with too many questions, or make him think he was a snobbish type more suited to professorship than recording. Which was half-true; Ted had taught before, but the ship of any possible teaching positions, at Berklee or anyplace else, had long since sailed, pretty much since he collaborated with Izzie Martinez. Regardless of his personal thoughts on the collaboration, it seemed that it would haunt his career for a while, unless he could knock it out of the park with Cor Leonis. He had a good feeling about the present lineup and the possibility of adding Victor to it. If Victor gelled with the band, they might have a veritable powerhouse of a lineup. But back to reality, and back to Victor's response...whatever that would be.

As he followed the others outside, he was very much relieved to be get a bit away from the noise coming from the other room. The band in there was awful loud, and so downtuned that the notes crawled along the floor. Victor had no idea how they were as a band since he hadn't really heard them, so he wouldn't start to make up his mind on whether Psychosis was a good band or not. It was fairly easy to figure that there was a certain hostility between some members of the two bands. In fact, the air was so thick with it that you could slige through it with a knife. Victor followed everyone else outside, glad to breathe in some fresh air. He'd decided to set his bass down up against the amp, since it didn't seem like he was supposed to put it anywhere else. Questions. He knew they would be coming. The poorly dressed (and honestly, not-so-great-smelling man) placed himself against the wall of the studio, looking at everyone before his eyes rested on Ted. If he's had any, he'd light a cigarette. The only thing Victor had in his pockets though, were picks.

"Uh..." He started and wondered what to tell them. Victor was a man with nothing to lose, which made it easier for him to just tell the truth. This was his chance to turn things around though, and that made him realize that he had to be careful not to mess things up. "I've been playing since I was... Sixteen or so." He finally stated. Victor had never been taught and hadn't really played since he abruptly disappeared from school. Edei knew how he had suddenly just left without saying anything, and since then he hadn't used the bass for anything than carrying it around. "I haven't really played much since highschool though." The way he avoided replying to Ted's compliment was completely deliberate. Victor had never been good at working out how to deal with that. The fact that it had been so long since he had played, caused the success of their short jam to surprise him. Success might be a strong word to use, but he figured that it couldn't be all bad since Ted was actually complimenting him. He didn't seem like a man to throw those around.

His eyes moved to the other members of Cor Leonis as he wondered about them. He was curious as to what kind of people they were and what they were thinking. One of them hadn't said much to him. Charlotte. That's her name. Was hard to figure out. It was difficult to see if she didn't like him or if she was just that kind of person. Then again, Victor probably didn't give off a very good impression, what with his appearance and all.

Craig was relieved to find that Izzie didn't seem to harbor any ill feelings toward Edei after the, uh...event earlier. Alcohol always helped that anyways. Thank god. He joined the jam quickly after that thought. Ah, death metal... He thought with a slight smirk as his fingers flew over the strings. The seriously down-tuned guitars and the pounding drums were probably going to leave his ears ringing but Craig loved it. He wasn't so sure about Cor Leonis though. He silently reminded himself (Not that he would've been able to hear himself if he spoke aloud) that he should write down some of the things he was playing now. He was generally pretty good at remembering these things though but he thought it would be better to write it down than to forget. The jam was sounding pretty brutal and Craig's hopes for the new album lifted a little. He couldn't help but have been a little pissed off by what some people had said about their last album even though he was mostly a pretty easy-going guy. He was thinking of bringing some of the things he'd been working on for a while into the studio to show Izzie but he wasn't so sure if she'd like it or not and so he decided he wanted to work on it a bit more. He glanced at Cormac, Izzie and Edei and smiled a little. The lineup was looking pretty good, he thought. He was definitely pleased with Edei's playing abilities. Hopefully Izzie feels the same. He thought as their little jam session came to an end. Sure enough, his ears were ringing as he set down his wicked looking axe and started moving toward the drinks.

Craig opened one of the beers and took a sip, listening to the conversation between his bandmates. "Glad I'm good for something." He told Izzie, not really wanting to be the next one out the door.

He saw the drummer's appreciative look toward Edei. "Jack, Jameson, and Jose. A lady after me own heart, truly." Craig's lips quirked up into a slight smirk at that. He had known it was only going to be a matter of time. Not that he blamed him, the guitarist thought that Edei was absolutely gorgeous. He silently waited for Izzie's response to Cormac's remark about her being a keeper (Which Craig couldn't help but think wasn't strictly related to Edei's role in the band, coming from the drummer), dearly hoping Izzie had no intentions of replacing Edei anytime soon.

When Izzie finally replied, Craig couldn't help but chuckle - partly in amusement and relief. "Thank god. Now I just have to worry about my ass getting kicked out." He said, smiling at the bassist. Normally the young guitarist would've made a move on Edei around now, but since Cormac had beat him to it, he decided against doing anything of the sort - partly because he didn't want to piss the wee little Irishman off but also because he didn't want to be like a lion jumping on a gazelle or something.

Charlotte followed the boys outside, tossing her blonde hair over her shoulder as she walked. Psychosis sounds pretty good. She thought approvingly despite the studio's absolute shit sound insulation. Alright, Charlotte. Focus. She turned her blue gaze to Ted and the new guy - Victor, she was pretty sure was his name. She wasn't sure what Ted was going to ask him first - hell, Charlotte didn't even really know what she was going to ask him.

Her frontman finally decided to ask his question, one that didn't really surprise her. Charlotte definitely liked his playing style so far, it was something she knew she could work with well. Her blonde brows went up at his response to Ted however though. The guy was definitely in his twenties and his playing had been nice...damn impressive for not playing very frequently. "Well, your playing I will say was pretty damn good for not playing a whole lot in a few years then." She told him, honestly, feeling like she should say something. "I like it." If that was him out of practice...holy shit. She glanced at Ted curiously to see what he thought. She did notice that he avoided responding to Ted's praise. Well, he probably wasn't a cocky asshole then.

"Did you teach yourself?" Charlotte asked, even though she was pretty sure she already knew the answer. If he did have bass lessons, she would be surprised as all hell. Upon actually standing near him, Charlotte had noticed a few things. The guy had a definite Irish accent, was tall and actually quite handsome despite the fact he dressed like a hobo. She also felt the urge to spritz him with her Dior perfume.

Everytime that Edei played with these three, she was impressed. Though she had started with them on songs that were already hammered out into perfection, the longer she stuck around showed her that they were more than they seemed. Izzie was quite literally a demon with her guitar, looking half possessed with the way that she played but no one could deny that the shit that blasted through the room was intense and bordering on epic. Craig and Cormy easily kept up with her and when Edei finally joined in with her bass, she too had high hopes for the band.

Perhaps they could play some live shows or something. Edei always did enjoy the energy of a crowd and if they hit up a few venues it would draw out their creativity for the studio. A win-win situation in her mind and perhaps it would also take away Izzieā€™s tension/anger about playing in the same studio as her friend/arch-nemesisā€¦ Whatever the Ted guy was to her.

With the impromptu ā€˜jamā€™ session coming to an end, everyone began to go after the alcohol that she and Craig had scooped up from Zā€™s place and the ensuing conversation had her lips tilting into an honest grin.

ā€œI only smell like whorehouses on Sundays. Saturday nights are 2-for-1 specials down there by the docks, yā€™know.ā€ Casting a wink in Izzieā€™s direction, she wrapped her hands around the necks of the two bottles that were left over, Jameson and Jose, and held them out towards Cormy.

ā€œIrish or Mexican? Take your pick,ā€ she offered, overhearing Craigā€™s comment about being kicked out. In reply, she rolled her eyes at the guitarist and stuck her tongue out at him before another bout of laughter rolled from her petite frame.

ā€œCraig, youā€™ve been around longer than I have and Iā€™m going to wildly assume that youā€™re sticking around for the duration. Hope that doesnā€™t ruin any future plans for ya.ā€

Once Cormy had chosen his poison, she popped open her own bottle and took a swig. Alcohol and metal in the morning. What else could anyone ask for?

Ted quirked his lips at Victor's response. Astonishing. He was out of practice? There had to be a catch. Jaco Pastorius wasn't a terrific bassist AND mentally stable. Ted had to admit he placed a slight emphasis on mental stability over musical prowess; after all, musicians grew in bands. He himself knew that; recording the first album had forced him to develop a lead style that would both contrast with Bey's and fit the genre. Admittedly reviews indicated that had backfired, but plenty of bands had had weak debuts and went on to great things. He'd learn. He'd improve. They all would. And unlike getting mental help, that would be relatively free of charge, and free of stress...well, not free of stress. Ted always pushed himself and others to stress in the pursuit of perfection. It may have driven Jackson away, it may have ended plenty of collaborations, and he probably should stop doing it...but he was too much of a perfectionist in the studio.

But he was getting off-topic. The point was, if Victor was a mad genius, he was probably getting the boot. He had to ask why he was in such an...unfortunate...condition, but he decided to wait for Charlotte's question to get answered. Though after a second, he realized the din seemed to be ending. He had half a mind to go in and check, but decided not to. Izzie was like a black mamba, he reminded himself. Don't cross her or you'll get bit, and if you get bit you're in deep shit. The analogy even had a half-assed rhyme to it. Probably why he remembered it.

He blinked and licked his lips. He needed to focus on the people at hand. And probably give a call to the manager, have a word about the atrocious soundproofing, not to mention the personal troubles.

Speaking of which...where had Bey gone?

Hmm. This isn't so bad... The thought occured to the irishman as he stood and listened to their questions. The fact that he thought about each one so much made it seem like time passed slower. It was astounded how many thoughts and ideas a human brain could think up and process in a matter of seconds. Despite that fact, his thinking didn't really bring him any closer to what he was going to answer. Apparently, Ted approved of his playing. Either that, or he didn't want to tear him down to begin with. If Victor thought that it had gone okay, but not perfect. His playing was never perfect and probably never would be, but that was his style. It had made him realize that he had to get back in shape before he would get his natural flow back.

Victor felt that he owed to tell them how he'd had learned to play so he tilted his head and shrugged. "Thank you very much." He decided to say first, when Charlotte payed him a compliment. Though he wouldn't say it, it actually meant quite a lot. Victor was definitely not very good at sensing if people didn't like him or did, and if they approved of his playing. So the fact that they actually told him helped very much. "I didn't know if you'd like it, but I realize I was quite octave-based." He added. "I've yet to get into shape." The Irish accent he'd never lost was easy to hear when he spoke, some words more than others. Victor managed to flash Charlotte a smile, though it seemed half-hearted. For a moment he felt like they were a little too generous with the compliments though. If they had thought that it had gone so well, then he started thinking that maybe he wasn't so rusty after all.

"Oh, I'm one of those self-taught nerds, yes," And that was true. He learned to play from scratch by himself, picking up techniques as he met various other bassist. That was why Victor could play a lot of different genres and styles, though it was easy to hear when it was him because he was smack in the middle. When he was really in the zone while jamming, Victor could go off on things where most people would raise an eyebrow and laugh, though he made it sound like it fit. It wasn't very often that he did though. When the fuck is the right time to tell them that I know Edei? Do they care? He asked himself. Maybe he should wait with telling them that and just focus on what was at hand and whether they would recruit him or not. "I uh... Look, I know this is very kind of.. Actually a little rude." The bassist scratched the back of his head and sighed, avoiding looking any of them in the eye. "I kind of need to know if you can use me or not. I don't want you to tell whether I'm in or out. Just, if you might be interested, that'll be good enough for me." He dared to look at Ted with an apologetic smile. "You might have guessed by how I look.. That I'm not in the most fortunate position right now." Or for the last couple of years really.. He sighed and looked around at the members of Cor Leonis, wondering what they were thinking now. But come on, what had they thought when they saw him. Victor looked like what he was; homeless. "So if you're interested in jammin' some more, then I'll be all for it."

Craig smirked a little at Edei's response before turning and looking at Izzie who was reminding the bassist she didn't give a shit what any of them did (So long as it didn't clash with something she did...). Ah, yet another story... He thought as his drummer chimed in with something about cleaning the gore off of Izzie's axe. It would be funnier if I weren't afraid it was true. The idea that his band leader would actually try to use her guitar as a weapon didn't seem as far fetched to him as one might think it would. Taking a sip of his beer, the young guitarist couldn't help but raise a brow at what Cormac said next. The drummer's eyes kind of glazed over, as if remembering something before speaking again. Well, that was something Craig would like to have never pictured. "Thanks, buddy. I coulda gone my whole life without picturing that." He said, rubbing his temples as though that would help expel unwanted mental images, most likely of a scrawny drummer in a dress.

Listening as Edei attempted to assure him of his position, he couldn't help but smile. "Well, while that is all very reassuring, the fact still remains that you're a lot nicer to look at than I am." The young guitarist said, winking at her before taking another sip of beer. Apparently, Izzie wanted to assure him he was a valued member of the band as well by reminding him that until she found a better replacement, he was safe. "Thanks, Iz." He said with a small chuckle. He wasn't too concerned about it, he supposed...he just wanted to make sure he didn't get on Izzie's bad side - but that was a common concern when anyone was around her because he didn't think anyone wanted to find out if Izzie really could use one of those guitars to disembowel someone.

Charlotte glanced at her frontman who had been silent for some time now, trying to get an idea of what he was thinking although she thought it would be quite difficult and as she had suspected, she couldn't figure out what he was thinking. Turning her attention back to the potential bassist, Charlotte nodded once and wondered if Ted was going to say anything soon. It seemed like he was thinking and she didn't want to interrupt that so she kept her attention on the bassist. Nodding slowly, Charlotte listened as Victor spoke. She had liked the playing style he had and thought she could work with it with ease. - Ted had seemed approving and she thought that would probably be his biggest test - convincing Ted that he belonged. So far the blonde liked him, getting the feeling he could bring something different and creative to the table. I also hope he can tolerate how Ted is in the studio... She thought, hopefully as she recalled working with him. The bassist offered her a smile, which Charlotte thought seemed a bit half-hearted. She didn't return it, instead studying him further. Well, there has to be something going on. It doesn't exactly seem he's like this by choice.

Ah, so I was right. Charlotte smiled a little when he called himself a 'self-taught nerd'. She had learned some stuff on her own as well when she had first started playing before she had got some lessons when she became more serious about her hobby. Charlotte cocked her head to the side when Victor began speaking once more, wondering why he seemed to want an answer so badly at the moment. She couldn't help but think it probably had something to do with the way he looked and sure enough, he brought it up on his own. He probably needed the money for something...something, she wasn't entirely sure what. Before she could continue to wonder what happened, she turned her attention to Ted, curious as to what he was going to say. "Ted?" She asked her frontman, feeling bad for the bassist.

Edei continually grinned and/or laughed during the conversation that followed and though she didnā€™t say so out loud, Izzieā€™s threats towards her wearing frilly dresses just made her want to do it even more. Internal organs be damned! She could probably run faster than the singer, right? ā€¦Hopefully? These internal musings kept Edei quiet for a few moments as the rest of them talked and she drew back her Jameson from time to time, drawing large amounts of liquor with each pull which could be frightening when considering her weight but she was a seasoned drinker. Perhaps too seasoned and her liver had more than enough practice to let her drink as heavily as she did with without making her knock down, drag out drunk.

The conversation turned back her way for the moment as Cormy asked, "That dude back there your long-lost brother or somethin'?" Her gaze dropped to the bottle in her hand for a moment and a grin stretched her lips while she shook her head. ā€œNo, definitely not a brother.ā€ She began, laughing as she lifted her eyes from the Jameson to Cormy once more. ā€œWe actually met in high schoolā€¦ Heā€™s the one that taught me bass.ā€

What a small world they lived in. Everyone had their own ties to everyone else with Izzie knowing that Ted guy and Cormy chatting up that hot blonde from earlierā€¦ If Vic got a gig with Cor Leonis then maybe they could all tour together! The thought made Edei smirk randomly, which might look a little crazed to anyone paying attention but she shook the idea away, knowing that Izzie would never go for it. Hell, with the way the singer seemed to get along with that Ted guy, she would probably prefer setting Cor Leonis on fire over performing on the same stage as them.

Popping back to the present conversation, though, she shrugged her shoulders and continued on. ā€œHe left abruptly though. Never said bye or anything so it was sort of a shock to see him again.ā€ The whole town, of course, had heard what had happened and it was tragic to say the least. But instead of coming to his friends and seeking comfort, Vic had simply split.

She was here a minute ago...how did she get away without anybody knowing? WHY did she leave? Where did she-

"Ted?"

The guitarist started before answering. "Hm? Sorry, spaced out a bit there. Well," he paused a moment, leaning his head back to listen for the silence, "Firstly, I can sympathize with the need for finances. Rest assured we can work with that. Secondly, it sounds like Psychosis stopped making noises, so we can probably go back in and play some. In the interest of courtesy to them, even to Izzie, maybe we should try something...quieter. I'll turn down my amp, and we can try to do something like that one song, Sun Caravan or whatever. Rest assured, you've got a million steps up on every other bassist we've seen so far, something I'm sure Charlotte will agree with. The sooner we get in and do this last jam session, the sooner we can welcome you as a member, or at least put you on the payroll for studio time, and start the business of writing music and playing it. On that note, let's jam."

Waiting only an instant to see they understood, he fairly hopped inside, eager to get back to playing. As they passed the other practice room Ted glimpsed the members of Psychosis chatting idly. At least they seemed unlikely to get back to noising, which meant they could make some music. Inside the practice room, Ted quickly walked over to the case with the HƤgstrom inside and pulled it out before turning to his pedalboard and unplugging the cable to run the guitar straight into the amp. He turned the volume and gain down, then played and listened to a few experimental notes. Satisfied, he turned to regard those who remained of his bandmates. At the moment Bey still had the plausibility of having gone to the bathroom or something similar, which reassured him some. He couldn't shake some darker suspicions, though.

When Cormac asked Edei about the guy from earlier, the young guitarist found himself listening intently, curious as to how Cormac was going to react to this Vic guy. As he listned to Edei explain to Cormy about how she knew Vic, Craig couldn't help but find himself smiling slightly as he looked down at the floor. From what he remembered, that guy was Irish - accent and all. Everyone knew how much Cormac McMurphy prided himself on his heritage. Somehow, Craig couldn't help but think that the drummer was going to more than a little envious. He was definitely going to have to see that. Come to think of it, if that Vic guy taught Edei bass, he's probably pretty good. He didn't really mind sharing the studio with them, unlike Izzie - however he was pretty sure Cor Leonis didn't feel the same way since their first encounter with Psychosis didn't exactly leave them with a good impression. Although Edei knew Victor and apparently Cormac knew the blonde chick, so maybe they didn't all think Psychosis was that bad. Izzie seemed to knew that Ted guy from way back when though, too...that didn't look so good.

Craig looked back up and saw Edei take a long pull of her Jameson. He raised a brow at the large amounts of alcohol, surprised. "You're kind of freaking me out with that." The guitarist stated, pointing at the liquor bottle. "You're just so small and..." He paused, tilting his head and then shrugging, having expected that someone of her size wouldn't be able to drink like that. He did find it cool though, that she could actually do that. "So, that guy. He just split without saying anything? That's weird." He said, not remembering he mentioning that to him earlier.

Apparently Izzie had decided to go check on 'Ted and the rest of his jackasses'. The young guitarist paused for a minute, not sure if he should go after them or not, glancing back at his bandmates as if for some clue as to what he should do.

Charlotte was looking at her frontman expectantly, wondering what he was going to say to the potential new bassist. She was a little relieved when he began speaking. She liked this guy, he seemed like a good fit for the band...She had thought Ted seemed to like him - she wasn't so sure what Bey - Wait, where was Bey, anyway? The blonde swiveled her head around and glanced toward the doors, wondering where the other girl had gone. Guess she didn't want to meet him. She thought, frowning slightly. She would have thought Bey would have at least joined them for a few minutes. Charlotte then turned her attention back to the scene before her, nodding her agreement with her singer, glad that Ted seemed like he wanted to give this guy a shot as she thought that Victor could really bring something new to the table for this next album. "Sounds good to me." She said, smiling cheerily at both the bassist and her frontman. She glanced at Victor for a moment, wondering if he knew what Ted was talking about...she was fairly certain he was referring to "Planet Caravan". As far as she remembered, her singer wasn't all that familiar with Black Sabbath.

The blonde. The drummer. It's still Charlotte... He reminded himself and sighed inaudiably, cursing himself with his inability to remember names. Anyway, Charlotte didn't return the smile he gave her. She just looked at him and seemed to study him. That was what Victor felt anyway. He'd never say it, but he found it uncomfortable. The girl had a strange kind of blue eyes that were very pertty, but not very comfortable when you - like Victor - had some things to hide. It felt a little bit like she knew. She can't know. He told himself, only then realizing what he had just told all of them. They guessed. And where the hell is that other girl? As far as he could remember, there was supposed to be a member more. Again, Victor couldn't recall what her name had been, if he had even been told. When Charlotte spoke to Ted, apparently asking him what he thought of it all, Victor snapped out of his thoughts and regained focus.

I don't care if you can't pay me in the beginning... All he had wanted to know was if he had a chance with them, the idea of money not really occuring to him. Victor knew that this was his last shot and if he just had a chance, that would mean everything. But.. Holy motherfucker the money would be nice. Victor's expression changed as he realized that he might actually get paid. Maybe it wasn't a lot, but that didn't matter. If he would actually get some money, he'd be more than happy. Of course, there still was a problem with where he was going to sleep. His best suggestion at the moment would be to ask them, if he could stay at the studio and maybe borrow a couch there or something. You'll find that out later, man... Victor's apathetic side kicked in and told him not to worry about that at the moment. Due to his generally good mood, Victor was kind of a "What-the-hell-let's-just-go-with-it..." kinda guy. He'd made a rule out of not letting his life bring him down, but instead make the best of it.

"Alright... First off." He started and followed after Ted. "I completely forgot to thank you for having me. So thank you." Victor finally smiled honestly and looked right at Ted with his grey-ish blue eyes, picking up his bass. "And secondly... Well... Fuck it, let's play. If that Cannibal Corpse - Hammerfall offspring in there decide not to start playing again, then I think we might actually get something good going." Victor shrugged, not really caring if Ted or Charlotte thought what he said was offensive. He didn't know how the relations were between the two bands, but it didn't seem like it was exactly friendly.

It always surprised Edei just how well her other bandmates handledā€¦ Nay, ignored Izzieā€™s antics. Without even batting an eye at the mano y mano verbal throwdown happening right outside in the hallway leading between the various parts of the studio, the towering Psychosis guitarist sparred with the smaller Cor Leonis guitarist andā€¦ No one gave a damn? Well hell, Edei was at least entertained by it all so she jumped up and wandered to the doorway, peering around the corner with a grin twisting her lips.

A few of the comments had her biting back laughter but her eyes widened and she scrambled back into the room with the two guys as soon as she saw Izzie shove Bey into the nearest wall. A resounding *thud* audible (which wasnā€™t much of a surprise considering that there was apparently no insulation anywhere) as Edei made her way to the furthest corner away from the doorway, settling down onto the floor with her bottle of Jameson. Sitting cross-legged, she shifted right back into the conversation about Vic even though it seemed a bit odd to her that the bass player for Cor Leonis was now a major topic of interest.

She nodded first to Cormy when he clarified that the grungy looking man had indeed been the one to teach her bass back in the day and tipping the bottle to her lips, she took another albeit smaller sip of her whiskey to calm Craigā€™s fears. Perhaps they hadnā€™t been out drinking together before? Her brow furrowed as she tried to recall past outings with her bandmates but she couldnā€™t seem to remember hitting up bars with any of themā€¦ yet. Sheā€™d have to rectify that.

Tilting the bottle in Craigā€™s direction, she grinned and shrugged. ā€œHitting up the bar scene is one of my few hobbies and I didnā€™t want to be one of those giggling drunk girls dangling all over the first dude to buy me a drink so I learned to suck back shots with the best of ā€˜em.ā€

Then drinking segued back to Vic again and she paused, trying to plot out how she would answer the questions surrounding him and his disappearance. It was a tragic story and not exactly hers to tell. ā€œNot so weirdā€¦ Really.ā€ Wow, that totally cleared things up for them! Good job, Edei. She taunted herself and a puzzled look crossed her features as she tried to clarify.

ā€œThere was anā€¦ accident.ā€ Well, fuck. That wasnā€™t any betterā€¦ Plus, it wasnā€™t like Vic was going to bring up the subject with complete strangers anytime soonā€¦ Right? So maybe telling them would head off any weird conversations in the future.

ā€œHis house caught fire and his father and sister were trapped inside. Firefighters could only get to his mother and they pulled her out but she just kept screaming that she wished she was dead too. Ended up taking herā€¦ away. Vic was left pretty much alone after that.ā€

Wow, that sounded way more depressing when you said it out loud. So, she tried to change the subject though there was no way to smoothly to transition from that to, well, anything.

ā€œSoā€¦ Are we writing songs? Playing? Having a fashion show of Cormy and I in the latest dresses for the amusement of everyone involved?ā€
