Trying to regulate his breathing, Luca wearily watched the other three people who were still by the table, looking rather calm. So far they had not threatened him, but what would happen if he somehow managed to piss them off? Would he find himself with a needle in his brain then? Or have his throat ripped out by sharp fangs? This image made him shudder and he quickly stopped this train of thought. "You...You are going to stay here?" Luca asked Alyx, not even bothering to lower his voice. If the others had not noticed his intend to leave till now then they would be quite stupid.
She nodded, "Yes... I am always scared..." She mutters the last part under her breath, looking down, almost ashamed of that fact. Yet her eyes dart back up to him when she felt him tense a bit.
She watched him try to begin to regulate his breathing and watched as thoughts seemed to race through his head.
"You...You are going to stay here?" Luca asked, in a demanding sort of way, but Alyx did not take it personally, she knew he was extremely worked up.
"Yes, I am going to stay... I know you are scared, this is new to you... But I've learned recently that new, is not always bad... Maybe these people have bad, or quirky, habits, jobs, ways of living...But I don't think any of them are entirely bad people," She took a small breath, "Although... I wouldn't go pushing any of their buttons.. They seem... testy...And if you do...I'll be there to protect you." Her words were sincere, and her voice seemed to be more confident with the last sentence. Alyx did not know if she could face them all together as a group, but individually she knew she could hold her own in a fight, at least long enough for them to give up. They used to hold fights in the Lab, to see who was the strongest: Alyx came out as top champion most of the time due to the doctors misuse of the chemicals they put in her system. Her hand resting on his shoulder squeezed him -- gently -- and for the first time in her life, she cracked a smile.
Yet a thought hit her, if he was freaked out by what they were...Maybe Luca would be scared of what she was too and not want to be around any of them... She got very sad by this thought and her smile fades as quick as it came. She didn't want to be judged like that... and she knew secrets would never stay secrets forever.
So maybe ... no, obviously!... there were creatures in this world that he had never seen or heard of before, but just as Alyx had said, he shouldn't judge them just for being different. Afterall, to them he was different as well and he hated to be judge prematurely. Now that he thought about everything and had calmed down a bit, Luca actually started to feel kind of stupid for freaking out like he had, especially as the others had been quite nice so far. I just hope that I haven't played my chance with them, he thought and looked over at the other three sheepishly.
"I... sorry, if I overreacted a bit here, but it's all a bit much to take in for me." he said to them, his voice finally steady again. "And, I hope I didn't insult any of you with my words, I... I really didn't want that." he rubbed his neck, slightly embarrassed and looked back at Alyx. "Thanks for stopping me from leaving." he said sincerely and leaned a bit closer to whisper "and I hope it won't come so far that you will have to protect me. I'd feel really bad then." he smiled, more relaxed now and slowly moved back to his seat, not knowing how he would be received by the others.
His eyes narrowed slightly when he overheard Fletcher's conversation with the young girl. The thought of someone spiking their food with some substance was quite annoying, though when he examined his own plate of food, his senses could make out no unusual scent. Fletcher, though, didn't seem to be so lucky with his drink and Cian could recognize the expression on his face easily. Someone is going to pay for this, he though chuckling lowly and leaned back in his chair to watch the show he knew was about to start.
Cean watched the drama unfold before his eyes with an amused smirk playing around his lips. Fletcher's skill was quite impressive, he had to admit. The needles hit their targets with perfect precision. Someone to keep an eye on, he decided.
When the young human started to freak out, Cian had to fight himself not to laugh loudly, but he somehow did manage to keep quiet, though his eyes shown brightly with amusement. These humans were always so entertaining to watch. So much emotion in one so young, Cian thought and watched the interaction between Luca and Alyx with interest.
The fear that had been radiating of the boy just seconds before, still clung to him like a blanket, but the girl seemed to have managed to take of the edge at least.
The stuttered appology was quite endearing and Cian smirked at the boy's nervous expression, taking care to keep his face completely non-threatening. No need to scare the lad even more than he already was. Although, Cian had enjoyed the display of emotions, he knew that he would quickly tire of such drama and once his patience snapped, it wasn't good for anyone. So better to calm everything down now and move on with their meal.
Speaking of dinner. Cian's expression turned slightly darker when he noticed that his steak had cooled down by now and he growled a bit.
"Well..." he drawled and waved his hand towards the table. "You're quite forgiven, lad. I, at least, am not offended that you would get scared by the rest of us and needed to vent a bit. But now if you would seat yourself again, so I can finally eat my steak?"
Fletcher quietly drank down his milk, awaiting comments and answers form the others.
Alyx was somewhat relieved Luca had decided to stay, she found him comforting.
Luca turned to the others with a slow and steady breath, "I... sorry, if I overreacted a bit here, but it's all a bit much to take in for me. And, I hope I didn't insult any of you with my words, I... I really didn't want that." His voice seemed to come down to a more even tone as he rubbed the back of his neck, his cheeks turning a small shade of pink.... what emotion was that again? ...Embarrassment?
He turned back towards Alyx, "Thanks for stopping me from leaving," he then leaned in closer and Alyx almost flinched away, but fought the instinct as he whispered to her, "and I hope it won't come so far that you will have to protect me. I'd feel really bad then."
He smiles at her again and the right corner of her mouth twitches into a smirk, if she had to protect him, then she would; yet, she also hoped that it never came to that. As Luca makes his way back to her seat, so does she.
"Well..."A deep voices traveled from the man who wreaked of rotting flesh, "You're quite forgiven, lad. I, at least, am not offended that you would get scared by the rest of us and needed to vent a bit. But now if you would seat yourself again, so I can finally eat my steak?"
Her eyes flickered over to the man, she didn't like his smell... or the way he presented himself. Her eyes slowly moved back to her food and she takes a fork and begins to poke at.... whatever this stuff was; taking a small bite, her eyes widen with delight, it was better than anything she had ever tasted...even better than the leftovers at the diner she worked at. She begins to take big gulps of food, and to anyone else it would have seemed she hadn't eaten anything real in years -- which she hadn't. She giggles a bit, but Fletcher's voice interrupted her food raid.
"Ah, well im glad you're not leaving Luca. Would have been disappointing.....It seems we're already out of one room mate seeing as since shes not here she probably wont show up at all. " Fletcher stated as he stood and went to the kitchen to grab a bottle filled with white liquid, when he sits back down he takes a sip and begins to speak again, "Yes, its probably best that you all eat, while your foods still relatively hot....We've got house rules to go over after all. And it would be nice to get to know each other more." Fletcher smiled and Alyx looked down at her food, not wanting to talk about herself. At all.
He was glad that neither Cian nor Fletcher seemed to be mad at him and Luca thought that it was almost sad that the last person had not shown up so far. Maybe it would be quite interesting to live with these people after all. And now that Luca had accepted that there were things and being he never knew before, it was much more easy to cope with it.
"So... what are the rules we should know?" Luca asked when he had finished his dinner. It was better to get these things out of the way first before they got to know each other.
He frowned a bit at the mention of secret rooms, but decided to better stay out of them. Luca really felt that he had enough surprises for a while. "These rules sound good to me. And I really don't have anything to add. Just common curtesy, I guess. Like not bursting into my room without knocking, or throwing a party in your room in the middle of the night. Because I came here to study at the local university, so I will need at least some peace to learn. That would be great." he said with a shrug.
