Full Name:Cornelius Skorn
Nicknames/Aliases: The Necromancer; Scourge; The Plaguebringerāanything that helps to demonize him and make him seem larger than life.
Age: Forty-seven, although he believes this number to be completely irrelevant
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Magic Necromancy
Occupation: Necromancer, Usurper to the throne
Description:
Skorn is a frail man with bleach-white skin that seems to be stretched over bones, giving the appearance that he is malnourished. He has no hair anywhere on his body, giving him a somewhat unnerving appearance. His arms and fingers are long and bony, almost as if he himself is turning into the very things he controls. Black veins crawl along his arms and neck, his very blood tainted by the magic he performs. His hands and forearms are covered in scars from bloodletting for rituals. Thereās almost a feral look to Skorn despite his emaciated look, and those that gaze into his eyes feel as if heās drawing out their life just by glancing at him. He wears black and green ceremonial robes and cares little for the dried bloodstains that adorn the fabric.
Personality:
Skorn is ruthless and cold when it comes to dealing with the living; the only ones he can tolerate are those fanatically loyal to his cause (such as Spectre), but even then he comes across as uncaring at best and cruel at worst. He lacks any sort of empathy for his fellow humans, preferring to enhance his understanding of the necromantic arts and āexperiment with willing volunteersā, as he puts it. He is focused on achieving his goals and will do anything to make sure that no one will interfere with his plan; if there would be those that attempt to stop him, he knows that they will be made loyal after death and will not hesitate to kill any attackers.
Skills:
Necromancy
Skorn has fascinated himself with the study of life and death. Itās become an obsession at this point, and his mastery over these arts is astonishing. His magic is powerful enough to maintain skeletons and corpses for an indefinite amount of time (or if he decides to steal back their spark of life). In addition, he is knowledgeable in the art of blood rituals and has used these in the past to plague settlements with diseases and death.
Lack of empathy
While most would view this as a horrible detriment, Skornās detachment from his fellow man prevents him from feeling remorse for his deeds, allowing him to concentrate on any goals he may have and not having to worry about the consequences of his actions as long as the ends justify the means.
Weaknesses:
Physical Frailty
While Skornās body has built up a sort of immunity to disease due to his innate knowledge of death, his physical being has taken a toll from the amount of strain his body must sacrifice for his art. In a physical fight, Skorn stands no chanceāfor this reason, he makes sure that he has a decent supply of corpses to animate and send as fodder or to spread disease.
Single-minded Drive
Skornās obsession with delving into the necromantic arts has taken a toll on his mind. He will stop at nothing and sacrifice almost anything to achieve his goals.
Brief History:
Once upon a time, Cornelius Skorn thought himself to be a man who could change the world. He grew up hearing the legends of heroes that would do impossible things and make themselves known through the land, and he believed that he would grow up to do that one day. At some point in his childhood, the boy found that he had an affinity for magic and was taken in by an academy to help hone his arts.
While browsing through the library of the academy one day, Cornelius stumbled across an old tome written in blood-red ink and bound with cracked black leather. Curious, he spirited away with the book in hand, eager to read and learn its secrets. Through his readings of the tome, he learned of the unfathomable power held in the necromantic arts and wished to wield it for himself. He began studying and practicing in private, learning how to reanimate small animals at first before moving on to bigger thingsā¦
When the academy learned of Corneliusā transgressions, they expelled him and erased him from the records. Not one to take this offense lightly, he summoned his first infected corpse and watched as it shambled into the academy on a dark night, spreading a disease through the halls and subsequently killing a few students and teachers. With this first act of terrorism under his belt, Cornelius grew more and more distant from his fellow man, keeping to his studies of unlife.
During his research, Skorn came across an intriguing piece of informationā¦ He is now currently working with his assistant, a young girl he has trained in the arts of necromancy himself, on a secret project; if successful, Skorn may in fact end up changing the world after allā¦
