x xWhen the monsters came, Pelin's parents were terrified and insisted that she travel back to Turkey and go to her mother's small hometown, where the monsters hadn't reached yet. Pelin knew that it would be impossible and she would not likely survive even the flight. Instead, Pelin packed her bags. She knew that big cities were going to be the most dangerous, but Pelin had nowhere to go. Pelin's partner suggested that they go to his family in Indiana, who lived on a farm, so she agreed to meet her aunt there. The couple never reached their destination because he was turned one night. As her only way to survive, Pelin killed him and was left to travel alone in search of safety.
Pelin feels like she has been greatly shaped by the forces of tradition and modernity attempting to put her into a mold of what the ideal woman is. Her nature leans towards modernity, of course, and her experiences have made Pelin, in crude words, a dangerous woman. Above everything, Pelin sees the world as her or them-- a struggle for survival against equally flawed humans that only want to bind her down and make. She is not afraid to use someone or do what is necessary to get what she needs. Nor is she afraid to wait. Pelin is calculative (although this is much more difficult when the world has gone to flames) and does everything with the ulterior motive of ensuring her well-being. In a similar sense, she is determined and very attentive to detail, a perfectionist in a simpler sense, and it due to this characteristic, she believes that through her work, and her work alone, she has achieved everything in life-- including her right to study in the United States, her job, and even the fact that she remains alive while everyone around her perishes. Of course, people rarely notice the coldness that lies at the heart of her warm smile, attentive commentaries, and helpful demeanor. After all, Pelin has learned that in order to be the woman she wants to be, sometimes she has to be the woman they expect her to be.
x xAt the heart of the coldness in her heart, however, lies a little girl, silenced down by ideas of self-grandeur and Darwinistic ideas of survival, whose only desire is to find true happiness and inner peace. At the source of her determination to break away from the mold is the fear that she would've never been good enough to fill it. The idea that, if it hadn't been for the death of her brother, she would've had no other option in life than to become a housewife. So instead, she walks through this burning world with a heavy heart and a storm in her mind, telling herself that she is unafraid to walk through the flames.
quirks Pelin cannot do without chapstick or lipgloss; she will immediately feel like her lips are dry.
strengths Due to her personality, Pelin is willing to do anything in order to survive, meaning that she feels very little remorse in killing the turned. After all, it's her or them. Pelin is a person who hates complaining, meaning she will not fuss over things where she has to sleep or what she has to eat.
weaknesses In all her time living in big cities, Pelin never learned to drive, so when she was left alone to head up to Indiana, Pelin actually crashed her car and was left to travel by foot. Pelin hates children.
