Setting
Gale was looking around at all of the amazing things around him. The buildings were the most massive structures he had ever seen and he had thought the Shire was a large community structure wise. It was all amazing. The artwork was truly stunning as the texture of the stone wove into vines or, as he passed a few, what looked like stories on the walls. He felt as if this was these buildings were the largest in Middle Earth.
Taking out his pipe, Gale looked through his bag to find some Old Toby. He stuffed some in his weed into his pipe, lit it, and began to smoke in small huffs as he people watched. He used to go to Bree every so often with some friends to sit in a bar just to see interesting people. Also to drink to their heart's intent but that was expected. Among them were men, which he saw plenty of in Bree. There were elves which were incredibly foreign to him though they were occasionally spoken of in the Shire. There was a dwarf, which were spoken of in Bilbo's stories so he had some insight on the race. There was an eagle by them, something that Bilbo also spoke of in stories though never in depth. He wondered if they could speak? There was a giant of a man too. A kind of man that could step on a hobbit without even noticing it. The travel alone would be by far more interesting than he had originally though it would be.
He looked up into the clouds to begin smoking rings. He was not nearly as good as that traveling wizard Gandalf for he could make ships and people. Unfortunately Gale could only do rings within one another and make a dragon face. Though he could also make a barrage of rings about forty in one breath. He could, however, copy the effects of water on objects. He would save so tricks for later so now he would settle with puffing out a few larger rings. Perhaps this journey would provide some new inspiration for new tricks.
During the time they were walking, he kept himself towards the front and center. That way he could serve as the central anchor to hold a defensive line or pivot and easily cover the rear. He figured his fellow dwarf would be of like mind in tactics, after all no one knew formation better than dwarves. While he liked this group considering how long he'd known them, he just wasn't comfortable outside the fields of battle. Thus when arrows started falling and goblins came out he couldn't have been happier. He set his stance back, and was prepared to enjoy himself when a voice shouted.
"Gunvald!, Hallvard!, Golin!, Valinor! Make a perimeter! Everyone else get behind them! Pick them off with whatever you have! Gunvald!, Hallvard!, Golin!, Valinor! Keep their attention on you, make them angry. We can handle the killing!" Verza yelled.
" O' course, what's it look like I'm doin'... smithin'?" Gunvald couldn't help but answer in a cheerful tone as he set back to be a charge breaker. The elf, used magic to force the goblins from the trees, a damn good trick. Some man also professed admiration to the feat but at this point, he was more busy with the fight. He put his axe to work, decapitating a goblin on the forward swing and rotating it smash the hammer down on a goblin to his right. The shield broke under the blow, likely the arm beneath it to, but he didn't have time to finish the kill. Instead, he had to address his front again. A punch with his spiked gauntlet bought him enough time to get his weapon to bear again.
The whole while he taunted the goblins in Orcish, a tongue he knew that they'd understand. "Yer mother's a flea ridden pig sow an' yer father be a troll's boot!" He joyfully bellowed out to get the enemies attention, "The lot of yeh should know bet'er than ta fight a dwarf. Yeh'll only become grease fer me ta clean me armor bwahahah!!" He reverted back to the common tongue before speaking again.
"Keep yer eyes peeled, thar probably be Wargs comin' round at some point. If that be the case, I'd be best leavn' the line... me armor ain't exactly ally friendly." He didn't exactly need to comment on how an armor cover in spikes and razors wasn't very good for a press that a charge would create. But if he got out of the line, he could cut loose...after all so far the seems in his armor hadn't been found by enemy blade.
