The two guardsmen looked up, bullets flying toward them. Before Ten-Shots had a moment to lose the lead impacted his skull, breaking through his maxillary sinus and causing his nose to curve sideways into the newly formed hole in his head. He stood for a moment, his left eyeball slowly dripping down into the bloody gash in his face, before collapsing in the sand.

"Monogamy!" Monogamy Mikahael gave a righteous battlecry, the bullets having just missed him. He ducked behind Ten-Shots corpse and began to reload his revolver.

"Ten-Shots!" Argo screamed from his barrel- dismayed as the man he'd known for years now fell down dead. He kept his head down, taking aim as best he could through the gateway...

"What are you two whispering about?" Ohibi asked of Qunith and Talideth.

"A plan to get us all outta here alive, I hope," Hasaru added, clutching a wall and ducking under the hay for fear of stray gunfire.

Syra ducked as Seru called out, her shots at the very least distracting the two who'd begun opening fire on her. "Thanks!" She called out, aiming her rifle at Monogamy, "Stand down!" She cried, squeezing the trigger, aiming for center mass.

"You have completed your training, and stand here today to gain your title," Onyx spoke, not just to the young man in white robes but to the colorfully clad spectators who sat around them. Colors of all shades spaned the auditorium style seats as Onyx, the young man in white stood in the middle of the room occupied by a cerulean crystal that hung in the air.

"You have put in the time and effort to join our ranks," Onyx reach out his hand and took the crystal, offering it to the young man. He took it and the cerulean color faded away as the room went dark. The crystal began to glow.

"You must now decide, who you are," Onyx began, stepping away, his form replaced by a man in black robes. The room filled with warmth and a sense of calm. "Hold the crystal, and imagine yourself becoming part of something. Imagine your hopes and dreams being used to protect the innocent," The cloaked man walked around the white-robed youth, "You see, when many things come together they make something beautiful. The important part is to recognize that you can stand on your own, but when we stand together we are stronger." The cloaked man then took the crystal from the youth.

"A prism," he began, holding the crystal high, it takes light and refracts it into all the colors we see," light passed through and bathed the spectators in the colors they wore as if they'd been assigned their seating. "But when you invert it," he continued, and all at once the colors vanished from the room, leaving only one pure white beam of light that centered itself on the youth's robes, giving him the appearance of glowing.

"You recreate the white light that had been separated. We are the collected lights needed to create that light in the universe. A collection of souls from various circumstances brought together by fate, for a specific purpose, to drive out the darkness,"

he tossed the Crystal towards the youth, who reached out to catch it, but the Crystal simply floated before him. "Now the prism will choose." A shot of light flashed from the cloaked man's fingertip and was split by the prism. All the lights faded into nothing but one, a brilliant indigo light that enveloped the youth, dying his robes the same shade.

"Welcome, Indigo, to the Inverted Prism." The cloaked man threw back his hood and flashed a warm smile, his dirty blonde hair seemingly blowing in a gentle breeze.

Price gave a soft smile and nod to Arubak. "I do hope nothing to troublesome to think about. I will definitely pay a visit to the front desk though. Thank you once again Mr. Arubak for this meeting. I'm looking forward to working together." Price offered up his hand once more, and the two men finally shook.

As Price left the warlord's office, his mind began going over all that was said. He had more than a little to think about now, much much more. The question became what to do next. Obviously there were the matters discussed to deal with, but also everything with the 'thieves' Arubak was so intent on no doubt killing. And then there was the overarching issues to deal with on the planet; the other warlords, the Matran, and who knows what else. All this because some upstart nobles thought they could just take his property, his land, factories. All that hard work, the sweat, blood, toil, and tears he poured into it all. Still, it could not be said that this was at all boring...

After a while of walking down the gleaming halls of Arubak's palace, pondering a few works of art the warlord had somehow procured, Steppenwolf finally arrived at the front desk. The same girl as before sat there, Price walked up and gently knocked on the counter top. "Sorry to bother you miss, but Mr. Arubak had informed me to come to the desk and request a drink of my choice? If it's possible, could I trouble you for a bit of Brandy perhaps?" He smiled politely as he awaited the young lady's response.

Present:

Ash was now inside the fort itself, not quite to plan, but as he overheard Syra's question on the wind, he quietly and sheepishly whispered to himself... "I haven't really got a plan come to think of it..." Before he could say anything else he felt his body lurch forward, as if a demented monkey had just jumped on him, and then the fists started landing. The Captain was dazed and taken completely off guard, but the nearby gunshots getting too uncomfortably close to him made him a little more alert.

It was the girl from the wall that was on him. Ash sneered for a moment as he tried to shake her off. "Listen, I don't want to sound demeaning of women, but is this really the kind of place for a lady? A guardswoman trying to protect a slavery compound? If you get off me, you can just run along and-" More fists landed on Ash, to which he quickly responded by grabbing her by the throat and lifting her into the air as she flailed about. "Being a woman doesn't free you from punishment for crimes against humanity. Last chance before I paint the dirt with your brains."

The Captain threw her to the side as he raised his rifle in the direction of the gunshots. He took several shots, but they so far missed. His opponent was keeping a careful distance between the two of them. Ash bolted in the direction of an out building, something that seemed to be used for storage, firing in the direction of Chilf as he went. He finally made it to the doorway and clung to the wall, out of range of bullets as he quickly reloaded his rifle. "If you people don't put your bloody guns down and send your boss out, then we're going to kill every last one of you and raze this hovel to the ground!" He shouted out.

Present:

The sun was gleaming down on the soft sands of the desert, a warm breeze blowing and carrying with it the soft chatter of a town thrumming with life. The Horenor was certainly an interesting place, a bit of a blend of various things from The Rock and offworlders. Though perhaps not as familiar as what was present in the Holy Land, it was filled with things Maximilian most certainly recognized. As his black leather boots softly dispersed the sand under his feet, he made his way leisurely to the main entrance of the city, nothing accompanying him beyond what he wore. His steed, and the load it bore, were nowhere in sight.

"Hmm, still a little too much Skylander influence here, but I suppose it is serviceable enough. Certainly more so than Schittle and the other miniature settlements." He mused to himself. "Still, it does look rather picturesque this time of day. Never thought I'd say that about a desert. And of course... There's always the persons of interest to consider."

The Phoenix continued his walk towards the city, the wind gently caressing his dark uniform, while his hand lingered on the hilt of his sword.

"Brandy? Why, certainly. Wait one moment, hon" The woman at the desk, Janisse, smiled. "I'll get you one right quick," she said, standing up and walking towards Pair'o'Dice's kitchens.

It was a quiet minute or two after she left when footsteps were heard descending the stairs. An old man in a pinstripe suit sporting sunglasses and a few near blindingly polished golden teeth, approached Price.

"Steppenwolf, isn't it?" The man asked Price in clearly Sorillian accent as he approached. "Steppenwolf Price?" he inquired further. "Patience pays off, it seems. Heard you were waiting a while, but finally secured a decent deal with Aruback, huh? Good shit, kid," he complimented, patting price on the shoulder.

"Don't think we've met yet. Name's Chorvic," Chorvic extended his hand for Price to shake.

As the Captain, Ash, approached the open door to the fort hall a figure stepped out from the interior, emerging into the sunlight. He wore a large brimmed hat and looked out over the courtyard- it was a figure only Seru would recognize: Gutner.

Suddenly Saly grabbed Ash by the leg, causing him to fly forward and smash his face into the grass. "You're gonna have to kill me, Sorillian," Saly aimed her pistol down at Ash's face. "And you best do it quick."

Across the courtyard Chilf moved forward, his aim also fixed on Ash- the captain had moved so far ahead he'd painted himself as a target.

Behind Ash, across the courtyard, at the gatehouse of the walls, Syra had Monogamy dead to rights- a pistol aimed at his face. Suddenly a water whip flew forward, smashing into Syra's hands harshly and sending her to the ground from the impact. The water retreated back toward the barrel in which it had sprung, Argo standing with his hands raised behind it. A phoenix.

Monogamy threw his empty pistol at Seru. "You mess with Ten-Shots, you mess with Last Rest!" He exclaimed.

Argo pulled out a rock and pelted it at Syra's head. "You mess with one of us, you mess with all of us!"

Price took the man's hand and shook it, a polite, yet curious half smirk growing on his face. "Pleased to meet you Chorvic, and yes, I certainly hope my meeting with Mr. Arubak went well. Forgive me though, you seem to have me at a disadvantage. How do you know of me? I assume you're an associate of Arubak's?"

Present:

Ash felt dazed as he looked up at the woman pointing a gun at him. His head raced as he tried to fully comprehend his situation, and a way out. She seemed quite serious about killing him, but was hesitating... He looked over her gun for a moment. A revolver... And he recognized the brand and make. Her mistake.

"Have it your way then." Ash replied with a cold smirk. He rolled his body over as the dirt next to him exploded, the round for Saly's revolver having just missed his head. Saly went to cock back the hammer of her revolver to reload the chamber, but she was just moments to slow. The Captain had already rolled to his rifle, spun around, and had the lengthy piece of death aimed at her.

A single bang rang out as a bullet pierced Saly's skull and sent bits of bone and brain matter, and splatters of blood across the courtyard. Her body collapsed to the ground, and Ash began to fire once more at Chilf as he dashed to the corpse, attempting to use Saly as cover from her comrade's bullets.

At least it had been quick, just as she asked.

"Director of Entertainment across the entire Holy Land," Chorvic answered with a grin. "I've known Arubak and his crew a long time. Almost like a father figure, one could say. But, more importantly..." the old man continued, reaching over to grab and handful of grapes from a bowl on the front desk. "I get to keep tabs on any foreign guest stay enter and leave the territory. I'm a bit more knowledgeable about our outworlders customers than the the rest of the ruling body here."

Chorvic ate a few grapes before continuing. "I've looked into your business as well, kid and I gotta say...I've impressed, but..." he shrugged. "There's a couple of blind spots...let's say in your records. I couldn't help but be curious, so I figured....hey, what the fuck. Let's hear it from the horse's mouth. What the hell happened to you that brought you to this godforsaken cesspool of a planet?"

Price wasn't exactly surprised by Chorvic's question, but he was surprised by the level of knowledge this man seemed to wield. Perhaps more than even the likes of Arubak. And this man was a bit harder to read than Arubak, his interest was undoubtedly not passing, so then the question was what he hoped to gain.

A wry grin formed on Price's face as he gave a small chuckle. "Well, I was under the impression The Rock was quite an isolated place, seemed to be the place to go. As for what actually happened... Well you're Sorillian. After the Oblivion Crisis and the war finished, I was trying to get my factories back up and running. Actually, that was fairly successful, we were some of the first manufacturers to get things pulled together so quickly."

Price gave a slight sigh before continuing. "Well, as it turns out I wasn't the only one interested in my factories, and my land. Some upstart nobles that got pulled into the Matranical Empire came along with various local officials from the different planets we operated on, spouting off nonsense about 'Eminent domain'. In other words, the nobles wanted my lands, and my factories. Believe it or not, rather than just stealing them from me, I actually managed to work out a pretty sizeable exchange. Rather than cash though, I asked for it in gold and other valuables, like art."

There was a pause as Price thought about how much else to tell this man, but decided to take a gamble on it. "Anyways, my employees were always rather fond of me. I paid decent wages and did my best to look after them. They weren't about to work for any noblemen. Instead, they helped me rob several banks of their gold supplies, and on top of that... Well Chorvic, I decided if I couldn't have my land, my factories, my blood, sweat, toil, and tears, then neither were these nobles. So I blew it all up with ships and lots of dynamite. My factories, mansions, offices. Everything. Ran off here to The Rock with some of the treasure, sent the rest of it to random locations across the galaxy. I don't imagine many people will be finding it at this rate."

The industrialist started to chuckle before he quickly snapped his fingers. "Oh yes, so now I've managed to bankrupt several of those nobles, get onto wanted lists as both a Pirate, Bandit, and Economic Terrorist, and make off with a near mythical treasure. Dad would be proud." Price snickered to himself.

"I knew I liked you, kid!" Chorvic pointed a finger at Price. "'Cause ya remind me of myself...." Chorvic pulled his shades down the bridge of his nose to look at Price. "...a shitstirrer."

Chorvic walked over to lean against the front desk, folding his arms. "I'm in the same boat as you. Would be a wanted man all over the Matran...if they didn't think I was dead. I'm kinda okay with that, all things considered. I get to be more myself here, ya know?" Chorvic chuckled, drawing out a cigarette from his coat pocket along with a lighter.

"But...of course...ya get burned like I got burned, you just can't let go, can ya?" He asked Price. "Matran's gonna get theirs," he spoke, his voice growing more quiet. "You can be sure of that. Only thing is...you gotta be on the right side when it happens. Meanin' ya can only screw up Arubak's plans so many times...."

Gutner yelled out as Saly was shot. An explosion of blood, the rags of Ash's clothes flying through the air as he got behind her body. Gutner began to run out into the courtyard, toward a wago for cover. Chilf leapt into the air, side-flipping and unloading his revolver. The human cover Ash hid himself behind began to bounce into his disturbingly at each shot, a few hitting over and slicing his exposed shoulder.

Chilf landed on the ground, his revolvers out, and took cover with Gutner behind their wagon. And for a moment, as they reloaded, the courtyard was silence.

At the gatehouse Seru grabbed Monogamy's pistol. Syra ducked to avoid the rock Argo had pelted and the young man used the opportunity to run forward.

Monogamy too had approached, swinging his fist at Seru's Face.

"I'm gonna kill ya'!" Argo yelled maniacally at Syra, raising water into the air behind him and sharpening it into spikes, threatening to run her through. Suddenly, down the dune behind them, a worm emerged, blasting sand into the air. It was the size of a stallion, blasting down dune- Horik and Clorik behind him. Argo screamed disturbingly, sending his spikes of water out at the newcomers- hoping to murder them!

Horik was behind Clorik as she chased after the worm. It had bolted the moment Clorik had gotten off of it to talk to Horik. It slithered its body on through the sands and reared its wide head when spikes of water came towards it. A low bellow erupted and it spit out white globs of its saliva into the air. The spit that hit knocked the water spikes off course and they fell among the sands, the spit coating the water.

A few escaped the thick white spit and Horik and Clorik both ducked a couple water spikes each. Clorik and the worm rushed forward, Horik lingering behind. The worm opened its mouth on the tip of its head and came charging for Argo. Clorik came running in to tackle Monogamy.

Otis lingered by the cannon, the end aimed for the heart of the settlement. Otis had slowly but surely been condensing air inside the cavernous barrel over the last few minutes, the intent to create what amounted to a "blank" shell formed of wind. Even if he lost control as soon as he pressed the trigger, which was likely, the concussion from the air would still probably do some damage; at this range, a blast of wind at that speed would rip the roofs right off the buildings.

Scared by all the shots, Tate followed his father hesitantly from the room, hiding as he moved from the building. Looking around for his father worriedly, Tate licked his lips and clenched his shaking hands.

"Safe, dad, stay... safe," Tate whispered, cowering as more bullets were fired. He saw his dad running through a hole in the fence he crouched behind, and Tate began to crawl in that direction. "Dad... dad," he shivered, in near panic.

With Argo distracted by the rushing worm, Syra took the chance to get off a few rounds towards the Phoenix that had threatened her life. "Bastard! Your powers can't save you!" She shouted as she pulled the hammer back after every squeeze of the trigger, quickly emptying the pistol before she threw it to the side. Each bullet finding its mark and piercing the flesh of the Pheonix turned slaver just as the Worm's mouth closed over the body. At least he'd died before he had been eaten, and in Syra's mind at least, a bullet was a better way to go than being eaten alive for lunch.

She then pulled the rifle she had slung over her shoulders as Ash so gallantly crashed through the fort, and took aim at the man now threatening Ash,

"Take another step and it'll be your last!" She shouted, moving forward with Gunter in her sights as she did, "Put your weapons down and hear us out, no one else has to die!"

Seru fell back into the sand as Monogamy's fist made contact, however it was only a few seconds later that Clorik suddenly rushed in and body slammed him into the dirt. A hand on the pistol she had taken from him, Seru slowly stood and pointed the gun at Monogamy and Clorik who were rolling around on the sand throwing punches. Clorik looked up and rolled slightly to the right once she saw Seru. The cowgirl locked eyes with Monogamy, face bruised and brow furrowed.

"I'd give up if I were ya'll."

Behind her came the looming shadow of the canon. For a moment the battlefield stopped and stared at the gargantuan weapon and it's owners the Lord's of Rock. No longer were they hooligans shooting up a camp, but a group of threatening individuals wielding a very dangerous gun.

More than a decade ago...

"Sorilliaaaa... I have not heeaard that name beforeeee... and I do not knowww yet where it is," Mohan replied through the darkness. "Your men..." From the darkness beside Mohan the soldiers were pushed forward on their knees, their arms bound behind their back. "They are right here."

Mohan grabbed Iomer's shoulder and pulled him up painfully. "Your scout leaaader, I believeee. And he found... one of ours."

Mohan looked beside Iomer to where a tower of a man knelt, bandaged up by the Sorillians, but for some reason still lined up tied up with the scouts. "Theyyyy did not kill him on sightttt... perhaps they wished to question him, instead?" Mohan suggested, glaring down at his former compatriot. "I willlll return to you your men... if you indulge me in an exchange of another sort. Youuuu come with ussss, Captain Ash, and your men, and our wounded friend here, gooo back to your camppp."

***

It was night in the Horenor and M'kama had followed the address Kilakanji had written for him. It was two days since their meeting at the embassy, and the cryptic note led M'kama to a dark alley. As he entered he garnered a few glances from Longbaon women in gowns huffing cigarette holders, but he paid them little mind, instead continuing on to the address listed...

From the darkness a light ignited. Kilakanji, lighting a cigar from a stairway. "You came," He called out to M'kama down the alley...

***

Argo screamed as his leg was swept out from under him, hit by Syra's bullets. Then his arm. Then finally, a shot through the ribs. Argo collapsed to his knees and looked up. Above her the Worm stood- it was the size of a horse, but had not face. Instead it had a pucker where goo seemed to drizzle out. "Aw shi-" Before Argo could finish the worm's hole opened, grabbing onto Argo and swallowing the top half of his body. It's mouth got to about his waist, and so it began to digest the man with his legs still stuck out.

Monogamy sent fist after fist into Clorik's face, smashing wildly- and with each hit he screamed. "WHY-" Hit. "-WON'T-" Hit. "-YOU-" Hit. "-DIE." Monogamy was hit back by Clorik. Monogamy lowered his head under the punches before looking up at his assailant. He'd decked half her face in, yet there was no blood. Her face was instead globbulous, as if made of some sort of liquid. He looked down at his fist, where clear goo coated his knuckles. "What the hell 'are you?"

Suddenly Clorik released the monogamist, his head falling against the sand coated grasses outside the open gate to the fortress courtyard. Seru aimed a pistol at his face, and behind her, over the dune, a mighty piece of artillery loomed. Monogamy spit up blood but remained still.

Syra marched through the gatehouse, her rifle aimed at Gutner. Gutner turned from Ash to the sorillian and frowned, slowly raising his hands in the air. Chilf too rose out of cover, making no sudden moves.

"Put your weapons down and hear us out, no one else has to die!" Syra called.

"Nobody else has to die? And we are meant to trust you, marauder? Pillager?! You come here and you shoot up my men, my family?!" Gutner said. He looked passed Syra to where Seru stood- perfectly framed by the gatehouse. He squinted. "I know you," He breathed. "You- you bet them thralls in the Holy Land. You bet somethin' you couldn't lose, but you lost anyway."

Gutner looked down, laughing sickly. "You- you killed my men, over a couple goddamn thralls?! A couple Sudean swindlers? Harlots from the green?!" Gutner glared at Seru in disgust. "You lost the game, daught! You lost- but that don't matter to you, do it? I thought you were playin' by honourable rules, but you wasn't. You was playin' by rock rules."

Gutner swallowed, looking at the shadow of the cannon above Seru's head. "That the one with the biggest gun wins."

Gutner spun his pistol in his hand. "If I surrender you will let my people live?"

"Boss, no," Chilf urged through clenched teeth.

Suddenly there was a small cry. From behind a barrel a young man emerged, bearing some resemblance to Gutner himself. Tate ran forward, into his father's arms. Gutner looked down at the young adult and then up at the group of vagabonds again. "Or will you kill us?" He asked as his son cried...

Seru squinted at Gutner and saw in him something - no, someone - familiar. For a brief moment she almost felt sorry for him. Almost.

"Now now," Seru waved her gun casually, "It ain't like that. We both played like fools! You threatened my people over a small game o'dice 'n by doing that you threatened your own people. I was a fool for gamblin', and I'm sorry 'bout that I truly am," she shrugged, "But you, oh you were a fool for gamblin' with the wrong person."

The cowgirl aimed her pistol at Monogamy and without a moments hesitation shot him in the head. Her cold eyes met Gutner's, "Give us our people, Gutner, or your people will die. Hand 'em over right now 'n we'll leave it at that, ya hear?"

"Another decision in this increasingly complex vacation I'm sure I'll come to regret," M'Kama quipped back. Waving away the smoke, he asked. "So, what's next and how illegal is it? There aren't many places that adhere to rule of law on the Rick, but it's one of the few things the Horenor tries to pride itself on."

Gutner flinched as monogamy was blasted out against the grass. Whilst his grip on his son tightened, his pistol hand shakily moved out and dropped the weapon.

"Chilf," He called to his lieutenant. "Drop your guns." He turned to the man. "Drop yer guns, Chilf," He said again.

Chilf held onto his pistols furiously, looking between his boss and the invaders. He moved his arms forward, as if about to disarm, when suddenly an unnatural sound came from the worm. Still perched on Argo's body it began to slowly slid upward off him, white globs of liquid sticking to his tattered clothes as it rose. The worm rose off the ground, into the air, it's hole eventually plopping off Argo's head. Around him the worm's saliva floated. He too was coated in the liquid though it began to take off into the air from his body piece by piece, until at last only a long strain of it between him and the worm remained. He had bent the very substance the creature had coated him with. And then the boy let out an exhaustive scream. The worm fell, smashing into the earth. The saliva splashed down around Argo. With a gasp he reached out, turning the remaining saliva into spikes again. "Don't you know who I am?!" He screamed. "I'm the Argonaut, bitch!" And with that Argo flung the spears of moisture at Seru, Horik and Clorik.

Chilf took the opportunity, running forward guns blazing. "You fools, surrender!" Gutner screamed, releasing Tate and leaping after Chilf...

"You want access to the Sorillian embassy," Kilakanji replied. "I can get you access. Entirely legal access."

"Generally one would grant entirely legal access in the day time, wouldn't you think so?" M'Kama questioned.

Kanji inhaled, the burn on the end of his cigar lighting up. "I'm offering you a job, M'kama," He replied. "You'd work as a cultural attache to the Matranical Religious Ambassador, a reference hired to help their religious outreach on the Rock in regards to the Yyb community. You would not be working for me, you'd be working for the Empire of the Matran. And you would not, strictly, be working as yourself."

Kanji paused. "How much do you know about the art of information gathering?"

Price rather enjoyed the title Chorvic had bestowed upon him, as he had very little interest in the 'structure' of the various systems of governance around the galaxy. He wasn't sure what exactly Chorvic had done, but perhaps he'd as him later.

What got to Price was Chorvic's last comment. It was very pointed, and clearly not a coincidental slip of the tongue. It was very possible that Chrovic knew more than he let on, but how he knew was quite a mystery, one that Price would have to uncover soon. But the greater mystery of all was... If Chorvic did know, why had he kept it to himself? He smiled politely, locking eyes with Chorvic, trying to get a read for the man.

"Certainly, certainly. Just look at that situation with the thieves he was talking about. I expect he intends to kill them, perhaps worse. I have no doubt that Arubak's punishments, from what I've heard, are quite severe when it comes to betrayal." The smile hadn't faded from the industrialist's face.

"I must say though, since we're of similar minds and dispositions, it occurs to me there may be something specific you wanted to discuss? Am I correct?" He politely queried.

Past:

As Ash watched his men put to their knees in front of him, he made no movement, and his face remained stony. He looked Iomer and the others in the eyes, making it as clear as he could with silence that he intended for them to make it out of this unscathed. The wounded man, the one who had apparently been a compatriot of Mohan's, was a bit of a mystery to Ash so far. As Mohan made his pitch, and the wounded man spat back, Ash maintained a very skeptical opinion.

Asking to take the commanding officer, and in return the camp would get a 'disaffected' prisoner of the enemy's? No matter how you looked at it, whether the prisoner was a 'traitor' or a trap, Ash and his men would be doing Mohan a favor by taking him in. However... Ash trusted his men. In terms of ground combat, Ash was getting a bit of a crash course in how to effectively strategize for it. It wasn't exactly his forte, but these men with him knew what they were doing, even if Ash was gone. The chain of command, and their Sorillian training, would persist.

"Seems to be an odd offer." Ash retorted. "We would be getting our men back, but you'd get a commanding officer, and we would be getting either a traitor of yours, or a spy. Seems like a bit of a lopsided deal." He smirked slightly.

"What else can you offer to balance this deal a little more?"

The streets of the Horenor hummed with the night life of people looking for means to entertain themselves. Be it women (or for that matter, men), drink, or whatever else the locals and travelers could get their hands on. Maximilian strode quietly through the streets, his dark, looming figure causing some to walk a little closer to the edges of the streets, and others to do absolutely nothing. After all, some of the inhabitants of The Rock had seen far stranger.

The Phoenix had already made some inquiries in the city, and there was one person who had caught his interest so far. Stuck out quite a bit from the crowd, wouldn't be hard to notice he suspected. Maximilian wasn't certain how much knowledge he could gleam off him, but it was a start, a lead, and maybe even exactly who he was looking for.

He arrived at the entrance to a rather lively bar, the lights bright inside as people and drink flowed in and out of the place. Maximilian stepped in, took a brief look around, and made his way over to the counter. He sat down next to a man, and shortly after a waitress approached him. She was blonde, slender, and seemed to have a bit of a bounce to her step, as if she either loved her job, was a fantastic actor, or was oblivious to the world around her.

"What can I get you honey?" She asked with a broad grin and a chipper tone.

"You'll have to forgive the odd request, but is it possible to perhaps get some black tea, or perhaps even just some hot water?" He replied in a soft, polite tone.

The girl was taken a little aback by the question, looking a little shocked by the request, but after a moment of thought she replied with the same big smile, and happy tone, as before. "It certainly is sir, some of the best tea on The Rock! Can I get you any milk or sugar in that?"

"Just sugar please, 3 teaspoons. And thank you very much miss." His tone was very pleasant, a sort of heartfelt sounding show of gratitude.

The waitress smiled at Maximilian, despite his rather intimidating look, he was so far the definition of a perfect customer! She bounced away again, bubbly as before, to retrieve his drink.

The Phoenix reached up to his mask and began to remove it. He sat the helmet down on the counter in front of him as he reached into a pocket inside his jacket, keeping his eyes shut the entire time, strangely. When he finally removed his hand from the pocket, he was holding a pair of spectacles that he placed over his eyes. The lenses were round circles, tinted pitch black, and held in place with thin, gold frames.

He sighed contently, smiling softly as he rapped his fingers across the surface of his helmet. "You know, you have a certain air about you. A man who's been... Wronged I think? Something painful you've had to experience. Am I correct?" He spoke to the man next to him in a soft, yet neutral tone. It didn't come off as patronizing, or overly sympathetic. More as if it were understanding.

The man said nothing however, he sat and drank his drink quietly.

Maximilian nodded slowly. "I understand the feeling you know. Almost everyone has had to suffer that way, almost feels like being stabbed in the chest. Makes you angry, want to lash out. But you... I suspect you have been wronged in a way far worse than most. Tell me, what's your name?" He inquired.

The man was quiet for a moment, still drinking his drink. Then with a heavy sigh, he finally replied. "Snart. Leander Snart. And yes... I do believe I have suffered more than any other before me has perhaps. A true injury... An injustice."

"Say, I accept this offer," M'Kama began. "But what will the catch be? What danger would I be in? What danger are you willing to put others in? I am no agent of subterfuge," he sighed with a smile. "Do you know what you're getting into?"

"You want your revenge...against those bastards what wronged you?" Chorvic asked of Price. "Then Arubak's your best bet at making that dream a reality, understand?"
