’One step closer.’ The brunette thought to herself as she saw the Hollywood sign in the distance. Her curls rustled as she leaned towards the open window. Even though they were only a few hours from where they just left, Los Angeles had such a different feel from home. She grinned, stretching her arm out the window as they drove. Sure things had slowed down quite a bit because of traffic but nothing could stop the energy she felt right now. They didn’t head into the city. Instead the car headed towards the suburbs, were they even called that here?

Amelia was here for two reasons. One was that she would be living with her best friend, Dahlia, and the second was to become a star. She had no fears of her dreams. Her name would be on everyone’s lips soon enough. She was still grinning when her brown eyes took in the man sitting next to him. She took a deep breathe. Wes. No, he had no idea of her feelings for him but she wished he did. Wouldn’t it be so much easier if he pursued her? She didn’t even know he would be staying or if he’d head off the second he got a chance.

Sure, she had a boyfriend but that wasn’t on her mind at all as her eyes took in how his shirt clung to the muscles of his chest and arms. She spied only a few of his tattoos. She knew very well that he had plenty more where that came from. He had even been there holding her hand, each time she gotten hers. She reached out, grabbing the bottle of Dr. Pepper he had been drinking a few minutes before. She unscrewed the top as she shifted in her seat, putting her feet up on the dashboard. ”Are you gonna stay?” She asked him softly.

Soft snore came from the backseat, making Lia smirk as she put the bottle to her plump red lips and tipped the bottle up and poured some of the sweet liquid into her mouth. She only took a gulp before screwing back on the top. She wiped the corner of her mouth as a drop of the soda tried to escape to her lips. She put the drink back in the hold, smiling at him. ”You never told me why you were driving out here by the way. Was it just a happy coincidence that you were coming here the day I needed to leave?” She asked innocently then added. ”If I hadn’t needed a ride, would you have bothered telling me you were leaving?” She poked his hard side playfully.

Amelia was prepared for the heat of the summer. She wore a pair of short jean shorts with a loose old band shirt her mother had that she had cut to be a cropped top. She was baring a lot of skin but she didn’t care. She was the type of girl who kept herself in shape and didn’t mind showing it off a little. Plus she was comfy. She glanced back at their sleeping friend. He had almost fell asleep the instant they got in the car. ”Poor guy
I wonder if he’s going to get a hotel
I don’t know if D will let him stay.”

When Tyreese had gotten off work at dawn, he didn’t know he’d find his two best friends packing for LA. Would they have just left, without one word? He had been so tired as he confronted them in the low sun, even then it had been hot outside. He had to wipe the sweat from brow. ”So what, you were just gonna leave me?” His question was directed more towards Amelia than Wes.

Lia gave him a pointed look, resting her hands on her hips. ”Of course not, dummy.” She said, which was funny because he practically had a genius’ IQ. ”Did we leave before you got off work? Are we not in plain sight where we would see you as you drove up?” She asked, waving at his trailer.

He frowned, rubbing the back of his head. Sure, he didn’t really had anything to say to that. But they were still leaving. He couldn’t just up and leave no matter how much he wanted to see his ex and once friend. Or could he? ”I’m coming.” Before Amelia could voice the protest that he knew was coming, he continued. ”Look I have a week off work and why shouldn’t I? There’s nothing keeping me here. Wait for me.” He didn’t wait for a response when he ran off to his trailer. He packed his things quickly. He didn’t bring a lot, just clothes and a few other things.

Ty had almost immediately fell asleep with his head resting on one of Lia’s suitcases in the backseat. He had worked a twelve hour shift the night before. He was not an impulsive person, not at all. This was the most impulsive thing he had done since high school. That was when his ex was still there. He still loved her. He didn’t know what happened, why she had decided not to stay in touch. He tried time and time again but she wouldn’t have anything to do with him.

He dreamt of his dark headed angel the whole way. He didn’t wake until they had stopped in front of Babydoll’s house. He hadn’t known what the house would look like but he could tell it was just her style. He smiled, sitting up. He rubbed his face, hoping he didn’t look to back. He had scruff on his face from not shaving in a few days. ”We’re here?” He asked, looking at Lia and Wes.

”Well, good afternoon sleeping beauty.” Amelia teased him, glancing over her shoulder at him. ”Yeah, unless my phone is screwed up, this is the place.”

Last night had been a disaster, her and Mikey had gotten into another one of their violent fights. Lately they'd been getting worse and worse because custody of Bonnie was completely up in the air. The foster family that Bonnie was living with at the moment was fighting for the rights to adopt her, while Dahlia was doing everything in her power to get her daughter back. Dahlia blamed Mikey for everything and Mikey blamed her. They both loved Bonnie, despite the fact that Bonnie wasn't actually Mikey's he'd legally adopted her his name was even on her birth certificate as her father. In fact Bonnie was the one thing that kept them tied together, without her they were a hot mess.

It had been a year since she'd lost Bonnie and it killed her more and more everyday, because Bonnie was the only connection she had left to Tyreese. That night her and Bonnie had been sleeping together in her room and down stairs the music blasted, another one of Mikey's partied only this time the cops had been called and when they found the mass amount of narcotics and a little six year old in the same house, there was no amount of threatening or arguing Dahlia could do to stop them from taking her. It was hell, if there was anything Dahlia was good at it was being a mom, she was incredible and everyone could vouch for her, she spent every bit of her time with Bonnie. A sixteen year old Dahlia had been terrified when she'd found out she was pregnant and her mother had nearly murdered her.

However, Dahlia will tell anyone, Bonnie was the best thing that ever happened to her. Dahlia had spent the entire morning cleaning and disposing of narcotics, because it was her monthly visit with Bonnie. She'd honestly completely forgotten that that very day, her best friend from her home town was finally coming the live with her for a while, it had completely slipped her mind because she was so excited to see Bonnie. She'd spent the entire day with Bonnie, until 4pm, when her social worker had to come pick her up. Bonnie was finishing up her Mac and Cheese, while Dahlia was trying to fight back tears.

“When you find out?” Dahlia asked glancing to the woman in her perfectly pressed business suite and smoothed bun. “We haven't fucked up one.” Dahlia reminded her, glancing back to Bonnie.

“One more month.” the women said with a sigh. “You stay clean one more month I can guarantee you get her back.” the women said half-hearted smile on her lips. “Bonnie sweetie, time to go.” Laura, called out to her. Bonnie hopped down from the chair, hair long brown hair tied back in a braid as she laced her fingers with Dahlia's and the three of them headed towards the door together.

Once they were outside, Dahlia hadn't even seen Westley's car parked right out front as she bent down so she was crouched in front of Bonnie, her little brown eyes that matched Ty's almost perfectly staring right back at her, her stuffed dog that had been a gift Ty had given Dahlia their first Valentine's day was tucked under her arm and Dahlia clenched her jaw to fight back a flood of tears. She pulled Bonnie close wrapping her arms around her and Bonnie hugged her neck. Bonnie pulled away and held the stuff dog out to Dahlia.

“Mommy, I want you to have floppy. I don't him.” she said with a small smile and that broke Dahlia's heart, but she took the stuffed animal. “I'll be back mom.” she said confidently and Dahlia nodded kissing her forehead before standing up and Laura took Bonnie's hand leading her towards her car.

“Remember BB, your daddy and I love you. See you soon.” Dahlia called after her and it wasn't until Laura's car was backing out of the drive way that she finally spotted Westley car parked with not just Amelia, but Westley....and Tyreese. “Fuck.” she breathed, wiping the tears from her cheek that she hadn't realized had fallen.

She looked incredible their was no doubt about that. She'd really grown up from the small, lengthy, thin framed, flat chested trailer park girl. She had long flowing brown hair that hung in a loose messy wave, her skin was a beautiful California surfer tan, her body was beautiful toned. She had long legs that were shown off thanks to her black daisy duke shorts along with her lacy crop top that showed off her glittering belly button ring. She literally looked the definition of a California Dime, until she opened her mother of course. You can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can't take the trailer park out of the girl.

Westley had always been the kind of guy that you mother begged you to stay away from and your father warned you about. There was no saving him. So, his reputation in Vegas had left him in a lot of trouble. Not that any of his friends knew, but he owed a few drug dealers a lot of money, not to mention he'd fucked one of their girls. He was planning on ditching town, maybe going up to New York. However, luckily he'd managed to find out that one of his best friends was going to LA and she needed a ride, he was almost too eager to volunteer to drive her. It was just a plus that he'd get to see Babydoll, she used to be like a little sister to him.

Wes was focused on the music trying to drown out his best friends incisive. He was exhausted he hadn't selpt in over forty-eight hours and he was surviving off of energy drinks and the coke he snorted every time they stopped to take a piss. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Lia prop her feet up on his dashboard and that irritated him, but he didn't say anything. However, he let his peripheral admire her beautiful body. Lia was incredibly beautiful. She'd grown up a lot since high school. If it wasn't for that rich douche bag boyfriend of hers he'd probably have fucked her quite a while ago. However, she was more like a sister to him, so it might be weird, he thought about it all the time. More so then he'd like to admit.

“Are you gonna stay?” he voice was soft as she asked the question, but he didn't even bother to look in her direction as if he hadn't heard her. Of. Course. I. Am he though it his head. “You never told me why you were driving out here by the way. Was it just a happy coincidence that you were coming here the day I needed to leave?” her voice was innocent and he just rolled his eyes as he lit himself a cigarette. “If I hadn’t needed a ride, would you have bothered telling me you were leaving?” She poked him and he glanced to her raising a brow, his full attention her despite him still diving. He had no concept of fear or danger.

He thought about answering, but figured it was no use. For the most part Wes was probably the quietest out of his group, he was the one everyone came to when they needed to vent. Most of the time it looked like he didn't give a shit, but he really did care about Ty and Lia and even Baby despite how long it had been since he'd seen her.

“Poor guy
I wonder if he’s going to get a hotel
I don’t know if D will let him stay.” she continued and Wes sighed, knowing she was probably right. He took another drag off his cigarette. D and Ty had a really devastating past, she'd really fucked him up and Wes had been their to pick his friend up at his worst. There was a part of him that hated both Amelia and Dahlia. Amelia because she'd known where Dahlia had been all this time and never once said anything to Ty and Dahlia for just up and leaving no excuses...just just vanished.

They finally pulled into the drive way, Wes took a finally drag off his cigarette before flicking it out the window, just as Ty asked if they were their. The house was huge and beautiful. It was no trailer that was for sure, she'd done good for herself, better then the rest of them at least.

“Damn Babydoll got Ice.” Wes said with a wicked smirk. “This bitch left us for this.” Wes said there was a bit of bitterness in his voice, he opened his mouth to speak again but before he could three people came walking out of the house. A scantly dress long legged tan looking model, a little girl, and a stuffy business women who looked like she had something up her ass.

The three of them watched, quietly as the long legged tan girl whom Wes guessed was their old friend who looked nothing like high school Dahlia said goodbye to the little girl. None of them spoke as if they were watching a movie. Eventually the car pulled away and as if time caught up Dahlia's gaze fell in their direction like she was seeing them for the first time and she didn't exactly look thrilled to see him or Ty had decided to tag along.

Amelia kept looking over at Wes just hoping he’d open those lips and speak to her. ’Just one word
’
She silently begged. He hardly spoke, she knew that but he had such a sexy voice. He was so hard to have a conversation with. Couldn’t he grant her that? They had been silent in the car so long, maybe that had been why she had been trying to get him to speak with her.

’I could probably flash him now and he still wouldn’t say anything to me.’
She thought, glancing away. She would probably have to throw herself at him if she wanted him. She had seen him with plenty of women, so what was so different about her? She was hot. She couldn’t help but doubt that a little as she looked out the window again, just needing somewhere else to look less he see the desperate look in her eyes. She wouldn’t show him how much she wanted him. She wasn’t that desperate.

After all, she had a boyfriend who she loved. Things were a little too perfect with him though. She knew Jacob was itching to propose to her. Was that why she was running away? She didn’t deserve someone so sweet as him. No matter how much she told him, he didn’t listen. Running a hand through her dark curls, she tried not to think about either of them as they finally pulled up to the house. She looked down after speaking to Ty in the backseat.

She unplugged her phone from the car charger and looked at maps screen. Yup, they were there. She rolled her eyes at Wes’ words. “She didn’t leave us for this. She used to live with her dad. This is her boyfriend’s house.” She shook her head.

Lia hadn’t noticed D, Bonnie, or the social worker walk outside until the car got eerily still and quiet. She glanced up and her heart squeezed. Babydoll didn’t explain everything about why Bonnie went into foster care. All she knew was it was bad. The only sound came from the car as they watched was as she shifted so her feet were back on the floorboard.

Soon as the car left with her god daughter, D seemed to notice them. She gave her a weak smile from the car. She could only imagine was what going through her friend’s mind. She slid her cell phone into her pocket and turned to Ty and Wes. ”Neither of you will ask about Bonnie. Got it?” She let her eyes bore into Ty then Wes, almost daring them to defy her. She would protect D from even the inquisition of their friends.

And then just like that, Lia was out of the car and running over to her friend. She threw her arms around D’s shoulders, squealing. How long had it been since she touched her best friend and gave her a hug? ”I didn’t tell Ty to come I promise.” She promised her. ”Wes drove me.” D was so much taller than Lia so she had to stand on the tips of her toes to really hug her. Lia lost her balance and sent them both to the ground; she took most of the blunt force of the ground.

Even though it hurt a little, Lia erupted into a fit of giggles, letting her friend go. She wasn’t known for her elegance. She looked at her friend, still laughing. This had happened to them countless time throughout their friendship. It almost felt like no time had passed since the last time they spent any time together. She smiled at her friend. ”God, I’ve missed you, Babydoll.”

Tyreese could not take his eyes off Babydoll or her daughter as they stepped outside with some person. It was like all the air was sucked from his lungs. She didn’t have any siblings that he knew of so this couldn’t be a niece. Did she have a child? Had Amelia known all this time and never bothered to tell him? Maybe she had said something when he was asleep or maybe she didn’t know either? He couldn’t tear his eyes away to even check Lia’s face for some answer.

Was he even still breathing? Suddenly Lia was looking at him intensely as she spoke. The girl and that woman had gone, leaving Dahlia standing there and staring at their car. ”Neither of you will ask about Bonnie. Got it?” She hissed at them. He nodded mutely but then she was gone. He watched as she took off and the two friends embraced, tumbling to the ground.

So Amelia had known about the girl, what had her name been? ’Bonnie.’ It was a beautiful name. He almost wished that woman would come back so he could meet this little version of his ex. How old was she? He wanted to know everything but he had just promised Lia
He’d bring it up at some other time.

”Did you know she was a mother?” Ty asked Wes. He slowly took his eyes off Babydoll for the first time. He stared at Wes, his brow pulled together in a frown. His palms were sweaty. He tried wiping them off on his dark blue scrub to no avail. He knew they couldn’t stay in there forever but could he face her when he looked like this? Compared to her, he looked very shabby. His scrubs were a little wrinkled from the ride. He ran a self-conscious hand over his hair. What would she think when she saw him?

Finally, Ty mustered up the courage he still had and pushed open the back door and climbed out. He pushed up the sleeves of the white long sleeve shirt that he wore under the top scrub. The white shirt clung to the muscles of his arms. Even though the scrubs were loose, she’d be able to see how well defined his muscles were under them. He shut the door and made his way over to the two girls on the ground.

He couldn’t help but smile. Had D and Lia not grown and developed so much since their days at school, he could almost imagine they were back there. He reached out his hand to D where she laid with Lia. ”Hey.” His voice was smooth and friendly. He was glad to hear it didn’t shake with the nerves that he felt.

Ty chuckled, spotting the dog in her arms. When she took his hand, he pulled her to her feet without breaking a sweat. He gave the toy dog’s nose a flick. ”I can’t believe you kept that.” He let go of her hand slowly, bringing the other to the back of his head to rub his neck.

His brown eyes took in her body with closer inspection before coming to rest on her face. Smiling at her, he spoke again. ”You look even better than I remember.” He told her, opening his arms hesitantly and offering a hug. Would she accept one from him? He wouldn’t force one on her.

Damn it Baby thought. She really didnt want to have to explain to Wes who the little girl was or why she was just taken away. She hadn't even realized Tyreese was in the car until she saw Lia turn to talk to the other person in the back seat and her heart started racing it had been almost eight years since she'd seen him or Wes. The thought of even touching him again was unbarable. Before she had time to react there was a high pitch squeal that belonged to Lia followed by arms wrapped around her neck.

“I didn’t tell Ty to come I promise.” she promised like she could read Dahlia's mind. “Wes drove me.” she explained before the two of them went tumbling to the ground because like always Lia had lost her balance. At first Dahlia was slightly frustrated, simply because she had absolutly no time to act like a kid, she hadn't since she was sixteen. However Amelia's giggles lightened her up a bit as Dahlai at up looking down at Lia still laying on the ground. “God, I’ve missed you, Babydoll.”

“I've missed you too.” she said with a soft small. She glanced up hearing Ty's familiar smooth voice greeting her. His voice was like her favorite old song and she hated how much she'd missed it. He offerend his hand and she took it reluctantly. She wantched him as he chuckled and she raised a brow as he flicked the stuffed dogs nose.

“Can’t believe you kept that.” he said letting go of her hand slowly and she just shrugged. She watched his eyes run over her and she already knew what he was thinking before he said it. She looked good. “You look even better than I remember.” he said offering her a hug.

She hesitated for a moment before hugging him and feeling that familiar heat between them, she made the hug quick and emotionless when she took a step back, pretending that the sight of him there and the fact that she'd been keeping a painful secret for seven year wasn't bothering her. There was no way in hell him or Wes could stay there, Mikey would flip out on her.

“You and Wes are going back to Vegas right?” she asked simply. “My boyfriend doesn't excatly approve of me having guy friends.” She said with a smirk making it clear that she had a boyfriend. She was trying to keep the topic as far off of Bonnie as possible. “Well I Mikey's gone for two more days, he's away on business, you and Wes can stay the night and head out tomorrow she offered.” before glancing back to Lia. “Hey Babe, why don't you get bad boy out of the car and Ty and I will go pour some drinks.”

She'd gown up a lot since he'd seen her last. Hell being she'd been a drug addict for five years now, she was a mother, and had her daughter taken from her. She had no choice but to grow up. As painful as it was to see Ty, she was trying to be an adult about the situation, there was no use in being pissed off and acting like a bitch when they were already there. She gestured for Ty to follow her into the house. The inside of the house was incredibly clean and expensive looking. Every bit of it was paid for with drug money. They silently made their way through the house until they came to the kitchen. Music drifted through the house, the kind of music she could only listen to when Mikey wasn't home.

“What do you drink?” she said crotching down and opening the liquor cabniet glancing to him over her shoulder.

The whole car watched in silence as the little girl left with someone else and it wasn't hard to figure out that the little girl was Dahlia's daughter, even from far away the little girl was a spitting image of her mother. He felt a little sad which was weird for Wes, but he had a feeling that the there was something very wrong with the situation. As soon as the car pulled out of the drive way it was like time sped back up and Amelia was scolding both his and Ty with words he couldn't quite catch before she was bouncing out of the car and over to Dahlia.

Ty followed after Amelia and he hated seeing his friend upset, he should have never let him come, because he had a feeling it would just open up old wounds for his friend and despite what he pretended to act like on the outside he cared about all three of them. Loved them even, although he'd never admit that. He didn't get out of the car because he wasn't planing on staying, in fact there were a few parties he was planning on hitting up that he'd heard about, he just wasn't going to drive off without telling them.

He watched the three of them talk for a bit while he scrolled through his phone texting people he knew in the area. He was itching for a hit of something anythinghe glanced back up to them just in time to see Ty and Daliah heading in the house and Lia headed is way making him raise a brow. He waited till Lia got to the car before he spoke.

“Damn I knew Ty was good, but not that good he already talked D out of her pants?” he asked with a wicked smirk glancing at Amelia through his dark sun glances. “Listen babe, as much as I'd like to stick around, I should get going. You wanna go get Ty for me so we can get the fuck out of here?” he asked casually knowing it would probably piss her off but not really caring.
