Description

Name: Lonhaldar

Race: Elf (Noldor)

Age: 5830

Image

Personality: He is very determined and doesn't show his feelings too clearly, giving an air of confidence and mystery around him. With his great age and experience he is quite wise, he is also feared for his mastery with a sword. He is brave and does not flicnh from doing what has to be done.

Appearence: He is a beautiful elf with hair as the sun, something a bit uncommon for a Noldor. He is tall and has the look of a warrior, powerfully built with a look of strength on him.

Strengths: He is a powerful elf, having the Light of Valinor in him, and thus able to withstand considerably powerful servants of Darkness. He is a master swordsman, very deadly in hand-to-hand combat.

Weaknesses: He has the unusal trait among elves that he is not too skilled at archery, neither at stealth, he prefers to face his foes with his blade, and let them see him coming. Something that has casued problems for him

Backstory: He was among the Firstborn of the Elves, being woken by Tata lead to Lonhaldar following him, thus becoming a Tatyar elf, later known as a Noldor. Following Oromë on the Great Journey he arrived in Valinor, helping in the building of the Elven cities. He grew both wise and powerful in Valinor. Becoming one of the Elven lords. He lived there happily for a long time. Then came the great tragedy. Melkor slew the Noldorim High King, Finwë. Lonhaldar was among those who saw a confrontation with Melkor on Middle-Earth to be the right way to avenge the king. Although he was not quick with his decision. And therefore had no hand in the Kinslaying. Although he still thought that following Fëanor was the right thing to do. So he following them into war. He fought in every great battle, although he almost was killed by Glaurung at Dagor Bragollach, and by a Balrog at the Fall of Gondolin. Yet he managed to survive them both. After the War of Wrath he settled in Lindon. Resting after Centuries of war, not going back to Valinor.

He later settled in Imladris under Lord Elrond and led a large group of Elven Soldiers in the war of the Last Alliance. After he war he has been a watcher of the borders of Imladris, helping in keeping peace around the borders of the realm of Elrond.

Equipment: He wields a curved Elven blade forged in Gondolin, aswell as two daggers of the same style. They grow with a very light, near White, blue light when creatures of Darkness are near.

So begins...

Alator looked back at Alhiniath "I do not know, I am mighty, yes, yet my powers are not without their limits..."

He drew his sword.

Everything was quite silent for a little while, before the glade erupted in chaos when Wolves and Orcs burst forward. Some of the Orcs were mounted, others one foot.

Alator raised his staff and a flash of light followed. The Orcs halted, unsure and suprised by the light. Two Orcs fell down from their wolves in shock.

There were two dozen of them atleast, if not more that had not appeared yet. The Wolves howled, they were unaffected by the light. Alator swung his staff down into the ground, causing it to Catch fire and spread into a crescent circle around him and the Elf. The wolves shied away from it.

Alator nearly collapsed from exhaustion, dropping down on one knee.

Suddenly hooves were sound. A bright light came from the east. Like a star mounted on a horse a rider bursted into the glade, Alator thought that he saw a golden armor through the radiant light, although he was unsure. The rider swung a glowing sword to the left and right, riding right through the Orcs and leaving a trail of dead behind him.

Alator struggled up and at his command the flames opened a path for him through them.

He quickly drove a sword through a wolf which had it's attention on the rider, piercing it's throat. And with his staff he knocked off it's rider. He quickly moved on to the next wolf.

Alhiniath watched it all in awe, and had only made to give two shots of arrows in two orc skulls when taking out those who had plans on making ranged attacks on the two creatures of light. Inside Alhiniath's heart there were jealousy, but not enough to make the elf flinch. The elf was quickly in need of his elven sword and almost smiled as the fighting went as easily as always when faced with these crooked creatures. However, one warg had made to scratch Alhiniath's side with it's pointy sharp teeth and push him inside another orc, which Alhiniath stabbed with his dagger rather quickly, but the warg who'd injured him was still charging, and the elf was perhaps not quick enough to react.

(Ooc: Woo, great entrance.)

Lonhaldar looked around in the glade, what he realised was a Maia seemed to be handling himself, although hard-pressed. However an elf further back, only lightly equipped with a bow and daggers, was having greater troubles. He turned his horse around and rode forward swinging his sword to his right and killing an Orc mounted on a Warg. Another Warg was charging on the elf, it was fast. But Lonhaldar's horse was faster. Lonhaldar rode between the elf and the Warg and finished it with a downwards thrust into it's head, piercing the bone. He gave a quick look at the elf Before he spurred his horse forward and ride down an Orc before turning back, intent on helping the Maia.

Alator spun around, swinging his sword in a wide circle, killing two charging orcs, his longsword slicing through their leather armor like it was water. Leather held no match against Gondolin-forged swords. An Orc to his right with a mace charged, swinging upwards with a savage strength, Alator tried to block, only resulting in the blow sending him off his feet and his blade flying several feet away.

The one whom he now saw was an elf vaulted off his horse, wich retreated away from the battle, spun around in the air and landed on the ground next to Alator. Moving fast as lightning he slashed off the Orc's arm Before piercing his chest. He turned around just in time to kill a Warg by slashing it's throat open, before flying into a Group of Orcs, his sword looked like a blurring light, and Orcs fell where he passed.

Alator struggled up to his feet, his arm was throbbing. He still had his staff though, and with it he sent two Orcs flying away from him.

The numbers of the enemy had drastically decreased. And the few remaining, mainly wargs, soon broke into flight. Around them lay the bodies of near twenty Orcs and twelve wargs.

Alator turned to their savior, the light receded, showing them a tall elf in golden, although bloodstained, armor. He had a light long golden hair, and clear blue Eyes. In him Alator saw both strength, wisdom and pride. Alator recognised the elf, a smile appeared on his lips. "It seems like we owe you our lives, Lonhaldar."

The elf made a respectful bow and sheathed his sword.

"The Orcs hasn't been this close to Imladris for a thousand years... What brings them here?" the elf asked.

"That is what we mean to find out." Alator said and gestured towards Alhiniath.

"Allow me to introduce Lord Lonhaldar, he is one of the Guardians of Imladris." Alator said.

Lonhaldar smiled when he saw the other elf and asked "I believe I have never met you before... May I know your name?"

Inside, Alhiniath was rolling his eyes, but held back and walked over to the elf. His eyes was still aggressive, having yet to put down the alert from battle. "Alhiniath Adan, my lord." His name was known to the elves as the dark born elf, who was best to keep behind in ranks for reasons none would speak of. It was not redeemed important, and besides, was an elf told to stay in the ranks of the soldiers, he did naught but to follow orders, as he did splendidly. Calming, he spoke; "I've admired your position and deeds my whole life, lord Lonhaldar. I am glad you aided us just in time." The elf said after placing his hand by his heart and bowed in respect.

Lonhaldar nodded a greeting and said "You fought well. If it had not been for their howling I might have found you alive." He turned to Alator "If you would have me, I would be glad to assist you in your quest. If you would have me."

Alator smiled and replied "As if we would decline, I mean of what use could one of the firstborn of the Eldar and a master swordsman be if we encountered more Orcs..."

A smile briefly touched Lonhaldar's lips and he asked "Were are you headed?"

Alhiniath stayed timid and felt relief at having the elf join them. As usual he had questions, but the conversation between the two elder made the soldier wait in respect.

(ooc: Haha, I'm happy you made that opening, but Alhiniath wouldn't say anything here. I am excited about this ^^)

"North, we want to find the source of these Orcs." The Maia replied.

Lonhaldar nodded "Then we will have to move carefully, they are on the move."

Alator raised an eyebrow "No, my plan was to move in while flying Bright banners, and why not sound a warhorn or two? I mean, what danger can an army of orcs, trolls and wargs be to us..."

Lonhaldar gave no reply, and seemed a little uncomfortable. ANd Alator was struggling not to smile. "Very well." Lonhaldar said. "I will follow you."

Alator nodded and started walking towards his horse.

Alhiniath picked up on the glorious elf's lack of response to the Maia's joke. He just couldn't resist and spoke in a low base to the other more bright elf; "You will follow one single mad Maia running in with banners, and two war horns hanging by his neck..." The dark skinned elf smirked weakly with timid teasing eyes on the two. Alhiniath appreciated the elf's appearance and he'd felt stronger just by his presence in battle, but he felt he'd gotten to know the wizard far better by now and even though this arriving ally was his own kin, he couldn't help but feel more drawn to Alator, at least when it came to conversation.

Lonhaldar turned to the other elf "I suppose it will take some time to get used to him, he certainly doesn't share the courtesies of the likes of Mithrandir..."

Lonhaldar was glad to have another elf with him, he was unsure if he would be able to handle someone like Alator on his own. He felt uncomfortable around people that took so lightly on jokes like that, and Lonhaldar had no wish of entering an arguement. And especially not with a Maia.

Alhiniath had only heard of the other mentioned Maia, barely seen him. He knew the wizard liked to travel a lot and smoke- though he'd picked up a few hints of Mithrandir's greatness. He somehow believed in the Maia, and didn't exactly understand how this Maia was so different. The elf turned to give Alator a longing look before he saw Gurine step out of the run down hut. Alhiniath turned regally back to the older elf and regarded him as such; "I am glad about your arrival, Lonhaldar. I owe you for saving my life. I look forward to having you join us. It was much needed." He smiled a rather innocent smile before Gurine timidly came to his side and he discretely caressed her chin for comfort as she'd been quite frightened.

Lonhaldar replied "It was my pleasure to help." He thought once again about that he was lucky to have another elf with him.

He mounted his horse and looked around. He could guess the chock that someone would feel if he entered this glade while it looked like this, it was a complete mess.

Alator said "I have a mind of us entering the Misty Mountains shortly, there is a Dwarven stronghold with tunnels leading North that should be safe for us, and help us a long way on the road. Any objections?"

Alhiniath made a short obedient nod before turning to reclaim his belongings and cleaning them quickly before he'd hop onto Gurine's back to follow the Maia.

Alator mounted his horse and turned to Lonhaldar "Tell me, was you that elf who slew that Wingless green dragon... Bragurlag? In the War of Wrath that almost pierced the Noldor left flank? I do believe I recall your face from there..."

Lonhaldar gave Alator a small smile "Indeed, yet truth to be told he was nearly dead by the time I got to him. He was severely wounded. He was not at his full Power and could still be wounded, and Spears and Arrows had already nearly mortally wounded him. I finished it by thrusting a sword through his eye though. Did you face any dragons?"

Alator had, and it had nearly killed him. He used up so much of his energy on magically shielding himself from the dragonfire that he nearly collapsed. It had been at the end of the war when Melkor in desperation unleashed this terrible weapon. The winged dragons, sweeping over the lines of the Host of the Valar they had killed tens of thousands, many of the less powerful of the maiar had perished in flames and been sent to the Halls of Mandos

Alator replied "Yes, but I did not manage to land any blows on it, seeing as it was in the air. And I was busy trying to not be roasted alive."

Alator turned to Alhiniath "Have you seen any dragons?"

The young elf cared little for boasting, and feeling the expectation of sharing a story containing the mighty ancient dragons, he moved his jaw while looking at them both in disbelief, though he gave the Maia a small smile as he believed the older male to be teasing. However, he felt it would be rude not to answer as Lonhaldar knew little of his age- he was too young to have seen a dragon as they were all either killed or in sleep somewhere on a pile of gold; "I have not." Then he waited for the older travelers to lead the way while gesturing proudly with Gurine that he was ready. The serious attire growing on the elf came from his dislike of war and the struggle after watching his kin perish. It wasn't fair that the elves should retire while evil and men took the fields and waters for them selves- corrupting and poisoning it.

Lonhaldar was about to make an answer when Alator broke in "Count yourself fortunate, I suppose we're lucky that most of them are up in Forodwaith. Few bother going there. And I would deem the chances of us running into one very small. Do you know how big they can become?" he asked, wanting to change the subject a little to spare Alhiniath from more questions about his experience.

((The Dragons actually made war on the Dwarves about a thousand years after this, so they are in numbers still ^^, he could likely have seen one))

(Woot, I read there were only four, and through my research I didn't come across much more. Well, even though they do exist and travel around in this universe, I think Alhiniath cares little unless there's actually one in front of him. )

Alhiniath wanted to leave the battlefield as quickly as possible and kept his poise while urging Gurine onward. She started walking even though confused at her master. The dark skinned elf stayed silent, hoping the other two would find each other as better partners of conversation than he was. He'd ride ahead and scout while the two chatted about meaningless dragons.

((Aah, I feel so confused and I seem to have trouble learning when stuff happened even though I do research. It's so exhausting when I have to do so much research to play my characters. Even so, Alhiniath would still not talk much about it. But I may do a small change.))

The dark skinned elf stayed silent for a moment only looking insecurely at the Maia. Alhiniath couldn't simply start talking about dragons after a battle, and he was still embarrassed at the minor cut being made to his side, which he'd feel stinging further as the adrenaline wore off. He answered shortly; "Big," and kept his poise while urging Gurine onward, he wanted to leave the battlefield as quickly as possible. The mare started walking even though confused at her master. Alhiniath hoped the other two would find each other as better partners of conversation than he was. He'd ride a few meters ahead and scout while the two chatted about meaningless dragons.

((Ok, I'm sorry. I guess I should not throw in things like that all the time. I was trying to play a character that has lived for over ten thousand years accurately. I got a bit used to aswell on a previous forum, the ones I RP'd in a LOTR RP with was even greater lore nerds than I am myself, I'll take it a bit easier with questions. I just wanted to get conversation running :) ))

Alator turned to Lonhaldar "Well I guess it would be hard to imagine, Ancalagon I saw only briefly, he was mostly above the clouds. Though by my bones... He crushed the Towers of Thangogordim as he fell. I would not be suprised if all of Beleriand felt the impact."

They contuined to talk as the world got brighter and thy left the battlefield behind them.
