Olive is painfully loyal, to the point that it may even hurt her sometimes. Once she’s decided she’s on your side, she’s by your side to the bitter end. She would do anything for the one she loves, even uproot and leave her entire family behind for her friends (again, being a little too loyal?). Olive is a charming young woman, it is very easy for her to make friends, as people just seem to like her despite having no real reason to. She likes to keep to herself, as large crowds make her a little nervous. Not to say that she doesn’t enjoy a night out dancing with friends, because she does, but she’s aware that many things could go wrong when she’s in a crowd (did I mention she is a little over-cautious sometimes?). Olive is an extremely bright and caring young woman. She will almost always go out of her way to help anyone in need. This could be considered a weakness of hers, as she is often giving more than she should be. Because she is extremely caring, she gets herself hurt or into trouble. She is a ‘glass half full’ kind of girl, and enjoys life-- and loves reading almost more than she loves chocolate covered strawberries.
Olive is wonderful at lying, but is very good at keeping secrets. She believes that trust and honesty are the foundations of all stable relationships, but also that sometimes people can't handle the full truth. She loves animals, particularly birds, because her mother used to call he ‘little bird’. Robins and Blue Jays are her favorites. She secretly writes in a diary, religiously, every night. She’s a huge, huge scardie cat-- Ghost stories and midnight walks are most certainly not for Olive. I mean, the girl sleeps with all of her limbs tucked under the covers for fear of a demon grabbing them if one dangles off (she reads a little too much...). Over-all she is a spunky soft spoken young woman who loves to let loose every now and again. Her family thinks she is very well-behaved, but that's only because she's never actually gotten caught sneaking out of the house. Olive struggles to maintain her 'perfect' appearance, because she genuinely wants to be the 'whole package'.
Olive is a dreamer. Ever since she was a little girl, she's wanted to make a difference in the world. Olive is incredibly giving, and kind. When it comes to a temper; she doesn't have one, and this is both a virtue and a flaw. Over the years, she's grown a little cold to the world. Olive suffers from stage 4 aggressive cancer. Why am I putting this in her personality section? Because it has so much to do with her personality. She used to be a hot headed, brassy female, but with the recent turn of events she's had a change of heart. The Olive you'll meet today is a soft spoken young woman, a gentle soul. She has decided to look at all the good in the world she can before she is ripped from it. If staring death in the face won't make you a better person, I'm not sure what will. That being said, Olive is prone to mental breakdowns. Sometimes she just wants to cry. To stop smiling, to stop pretending that everything's okay; that she's not dying. These breakdowns can lead to tears or screams, or even violence against herself, just wanting to end it. She could easily seem bipolar; rays of sunshine one day, then black depression the next.
"You always read about people who are dying saying that they don't fear death... that's bullshit. I'm terrified I'm going to die every night before I go to sleep. Do you know what it's like, laying in bed alone, mind filled with memories... not knowing if you're going to see tomorrow.. Not knowing how long it'll take the neighbors to find your body..."

Olive was born on a military base in France. Her mother was in the Marines and her father was a local business owner. The two were married, and when her mother's term was over they settled down in a small town together in America. Olive was twelve when they moved into the town she would come to know as home. She was picked on briefly in elementary school for not speaking English very well. By middle school she was one of the more popular girls because she was bilingual and she had gotten herself a group of friends. It seemed like every weekend she was sleeping over at a friend's house or having a group of friends sleep over. She had a happy childhood, no doubt. Her father was promoted to CEO and their family moved into an even bigger house. Things were looking up for the Crofts as the money came pouring in. Olive was promoted to first line in her ballet class and the Croft family was happy.
And then Olive turned fourteen. The signs were small at first. A small twinge here, a small fever there. By the time she was sixteen she was visiting the doctor frequently. It was a few days after she turned 17 that she found out she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She was dating one of her close friends at the time, but when she got the news she broke things off with him. Told him she just wanted to be friends, that she had too much going on in her life to deal with being in a relationship. Of course he didn't understand. How could he? She has been keeping all of her doctor visits a secret. None of her friends know.
The cancer has progressed to stage 4, and now the doctors say that she won't have much time left. Luckily, she's managed to keep her hair so hiding the process hasn't been too hard. Sure, her friends have asked a few questions. Why did she miss this party or why didn't she come to school that day. Olive can't bring herself to tell them. She doesn't want them to look at her the way her parents do; like they should pity her. She doesn't want her friend's last memory of her to be laying in a hospital bed, hooked up to a bunch of machines.
