Introduction

One girl decided in her first year of high school that she would get a boyfriend before she graduated. "Pfft, piece of cake!" she thought to herself.

Two years later, and so far....

No luck.

So, what's a girl to do?

As she was walking home from school, wondering just that, she bumped into a very handsome boy who looked very familiar. Then it hit her like a ton of bricks. "This guy's the infamous 'Heartbreaker' from school!" If anyone knew how to flirt and be successful, it was this person!

"Please help me get a boyfriend!" she pleaded.

He looked over her once, then scoffed. "Sorry, you're not my type."

She shook her head. "No, no! I don't mean you and me! I just really want to get a boyfriend before I graduate!"

He stayed silent for a while, before muttering, "Fine. I'll help you," he paused. Then a large smirk crossed his face. "But on one condition."

She nodded eagerly, "I'll do anything!"

"You can't fall in love with me," he said, turning around and heading home. But not before he added, "If you do, I can't help you anymore."

"Yes, sir!" she chirped, though not fully understanding what he had meant....

Gackuto blushed and replied "Hell. Don't look like it. Pleasure, I'm Gackuto, but just Gackt. Gackt is fine." He smiled and wondering what she was looking for. Her face seemed nervous, and when she picked up her bag - Gackuto wondered, what does she keep in her bag, it's more full than most of the girls I know. He was tired and stressed, so he didn't ask. "So, could we urm.. meet up afterschool for a coffee or something?" He asked, tilting his head.

"Eh? The enemy? Kasuka-kun's the enemy?" Tristan nodded and was about to reply to this with some sort of a made-up explanation, but he was stopped by Keiko's little female friend showing up. "here to 'coach' my best friend on dating i presume" He nodded slowly and gave the girl a casual shrug. He didn't really appreciate her tone, but he was used to spite from girls. Ryu Marie was her name, if he bothered remembering correctly. Cute, but feisty. He liked that. Maybe... Nah, that wouldn't be right for his current position with Keiko. Not her best friend anyway. "Hey Keiko, Ryu, Tristan," Hayate said as he arrived to their little group. Tristan gave him a nod in greeting, smiling at him. The kid had a total crush on Keiko. He knew it. Nothing got past him. Maybe he would be a good target to help Keiko with.

He went to reach out and grab Keiko's arm to pull her away from the group with some half-thought excuse to discuss this with her, but he was once again stopped by that jerk Kasuka. "Tristan that isn't a manly thing to do! Keiko is her own leader she can do whatever she wants! Your not the boss of her! Shes not your toy! And why are you giving her rules. She doesn't need dating tips! Shes fine the way she is. She already has a bunch of guys hitting on her!" Tristan sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

"Kasuka," he started, trying to think of a proper comeback. A fight wasn't something he was looking for this early in the morning, "honestly, do you even have any idea what you're talking about? Ever? Or do you just go around running your mouth without thinking and just hope something semi-intelligent comes out? It's not working. You're wasting my time now, so shoo fly." He gave a slight wave of his hand, glaring at Kasuka with a smirk on his face. "Oh, and Keiko came to me, by the way."

As he heard the sound of his sister's voice, Tristan glanced away from Kasuka and smiled when Aki suddenly pushed her way to the front of them all, standing front and center and taking his full attention. Typical, but he loved it. "Hey, Aki, how are you doing today?" he asked, voice instantly softer as he gave her a hug. When Keiko asked her question, Tristan laughed and stepped around Aki and Kasuka, grabbing Keiko's arm and pulling her lightly along with him. "Come now, we have things to discuss, dear student!" He gave Kasuka a glare. "See you around, loser," then to Aki with a grin, "Bye, Aki! I'll see you at home, okay?"

Kasuka was stunned. The way Tristan spoke back to him was unbelievable. Tristan and Keiko were gone to talk and Kasuka just slowly ran off to sit down. He left Aki, Ryu, and Hayato. Kasuka didn't need to fight with Tristan. And he didn't need..... Keiko. Kasuka frowned as he stormed off. he sat down on a bench getting ready to skip class. He spoke to himself. With a angry tone," Well If Keiko really cares that much for Tristan then maybe I shouldn't hang with her!" Kasuka ran his hand threw his hair. He was so furious. " The stuff I said was from the heart. Not like the cold hearted Tristan would know. He probably doesn't even know what from the heart means." Kasuka speaking to himself was normal when he was upset. He sat there with his arms on his legs and his head in his hands. He sighed as he looked down at his feet.

Keiko cheerfully greeted her friend, who right after she had arrived, had said that she was leaving again. "Aw, really? We haven't spent a lot of time together, though..." She trailed off. She turned to Hayato. "You didn't skip out on your first class again, did you? How are you going to graduate if you don't come to any classes?" she laughed.

By the time she had turned around to face Tristan, he had grabbed her arm and was pulling her along with him. "Come now, we have things to discuss, dear student!" She nodded, then replied with a "Right!" She was so enthused that she didn't notice him glaring at Kasuka and bidding his sister farewell. I wonder what we'll be talking about today~! Keiko thought to herself with a grin.

Ryu watched as her friend was abducted by her 'coach' and frowned.

"im skipping the rest of the day" she muttered and felt like crap all the sudden. things would change when Keiko got a man...she wouldnt be as important or needed....she didnt like the idea and she didnt trust Tristan. She saw Kasuka talking, angrily to himself and smiled.

"Keep that up and people will think your crazy" she said to him.

"alright, sure, uh, Gackt." she smiled at him, adjusting her bag on her shoulder. her laptop was a bit heavy but she was a tough girl, she could hold it. "I'd love too. But I don't quite remember where anything is in the area, save the school and the library." She paused a moment. she wasn't expected home until fairly late. "maybe we could meet out front and we could walk somewhere together? it is beautiful out." she said, noting the birds out the window. they were cute little birds, the kind that were about the size of a chickadee but more colorful, more energetic, and you never really saw them land. like they were always hyped on caffeine. what were they called? she puzzled over this for a moment or two and the shouted the answer which came to mind. "Humming birds!" she looked about, noticing that she had drawn all eyes with her outburst. "I couldn't remember what they were called." she shrugged, not really caring what they thought as they went about their own business.

Kasuka darted his head so he was looking at Ryu. "Oh you heard that?" Kasuka's face turned a bit red. "Whatever I don't care if people think I'm crazy. Its who I am." Kasuka frowned and put his head back down as the words from Tristan's mouth kept circling in his head. He looked over to Ryu again and spoke in a semi furious tone. "'honestly, do you even have any idea what you're talking about? Ever? Or do you just go around running your mouth without thinking and just hope something semi-intelligent comes out? It's not working. You're wasting my time now, so shoo fly.Oh, and Keiko came to me, by the way.' Can you believe he said that? I mean how dumb is he. One that stuff came from the heart. And Two He clearly cam to Keiko! I saw it. I'm not a idiot." He sighed as he realized that he was talking to Ryu a bit rudely.

" I'm sorry Ryu I just am really mad right now." He Looked back to his feet. Expecting Ryu to leave because she would think he was crazy.

After getting far enough away from the crowd, catching an amusing sight of Kasuka storming away in the other direction, Tristan finally found a good area where he and Keiko could talk. Coach-to-student. Coach. He really liked how that sounded. It made him feel important, like whatever he said would make an actual impact on this girl; which was new since most of the girls he hung around only talked to him for his looks and never actually listened to what he said. Keiko was an actual intellectual, if not a little misguided, and he had to admit she was growing on him.

Oh. Wait. No, that's not what I meant, Tristan thought to himself, shaking his head. "So, Keiko, I wanna know what you think about the guys you talk to. Who do you like? Who do you think you like? And why do you like them?" He grinned and sat down on the bench, motioning for her to join him as he leaned back and awaited her answer. He was kind of opting for her to say something about Hayato, but he didn't really care. He could work with anyone so long as it wasn't that prick Kasuka.

Keiko smiled and sat next to Tristan on the bench, and tapped her chin as she thought of answers to his questions. "Hayato-kun, Gackuto-kun, and Kasuka-kun . . . ? All three don't run away from me because of those silly rumors," she said, as-a-matter-of-factly with a grin. Then the corners of her mouth turned down in a small frown as she furrowed her brows slightly and thought a little more. "Who I like? Well, I suppose I can't like Kasuka-kun since he's the enemy, right?"

Then her mind drifted to the subject of the other two. "Well, both Hayato-kun and Gackuto-kun are really nice. Hayato-kun seems to skip a lot of classes, though, and Gackuto-kun hasn't really talked to me in a while. I wonder what I did," she thought aloud, before snapping back to the real world. "Um, I think that's it," she said, before turning back to Tristan. "So, what do you think I should do, Coach?" Her smile reappeared as she waited for his answer.

Tristan nodded when Keiko asked who he was referring to. Those were the only boys she knew? Really? No wonder she needed a coach. "Who I like? Well, I suppose I can't like Kasuka-kun since he's the enemy, right?" He couldn't help but smirk at this and nod his head quickly. "Well, both Hayato-kun and Gackuto-kun are really nice. Hayato-kun seems to skip a lot of classes, though, and Gackuto-kun hasn't really talked to me in a while. I wonder what I did... Um, I think that's it," she said, continuing on. Well, those weren't really the responses he was looking for. Nice? Woop-di-doo. Lack of acknowledgment? Even worse. "So, what do you think I should do, Coach?"

Tristan sighed and ran a hand through his hair before looking at Keiko helplessly. "You really don't like making these things easy, do you?" he said with a short laugh. "Anyway, despite popular opinion, one of the best people to date is your friends. Besides, not like you actually know anyone else anyway." He realized he was telling her something that contradicted his own style, but that was besides the point. He leaned a little closer to think while he explained. "A friend's someone who you know you can trust with your heart. If things get sketchy and you two break it off, if they're really your friend, then you'll still be friends in the end." He frowned for a moment, then forced a smile as he redirected his attention back to Keiko. "Got it? So you gotta pick someone special. Got anyone in mind?"

Ryu stared at Kasuka for a moment thinking he had said that to her. she didnt know why but she felt like she had been punched in the gut and her eyes watered. Then he finished his sentence and she felt relief rush through her.

Ryu sat down next to Kasuka and patted his shoulder with a sad smile.
"he's just jealous. dont worry about it." she said for some reason sill feeling exremely sad.

"Hey...im...gonna go...i dont feel well...will you tell Keiko im going home? thanks" she said and stood quickly before walking away. She pulled out her cell and dialed her home number before checking out of the school and starting towards home.

"Got it? So you gotta pick someone special. Got anyone in mind?" Keiko blinked. "A friend . . . ." She looked upwards, thinking just who she could ask. Her best friend was a girl, and though she would trust her with her life, she was also a girl, and no offense to those who did, she didn't exactly . . . play for that team. Then there was Hayato and Gackuto. She would definitely count them as her friends. She hoped they thought the same of her. Assuming that they did she decided that one of them would be perfect.

Keiko turned to Tristan. "Maybe Hayato-kun or Gackuto-kun? I'm sure I can count on them!" she chirped. "Do you think that they'll work out?"

Kasuka looked over to the girl. "Ryu wait! Why don't you feel good. That was so sudden." She was already gone. He was to late. He stood up and made himself decent. He walked over to where his enemy and ex crush were standing. Well he still had feelings for her but..... He couldn't sort them out. He stopped by Keiko ignoring Tristan and spoke in a sweet tone. "Hey Keiko, Ryu felt sick and she wanted me to tell you that she was going home. I will walk you home if you would like just come find me after school." Kasuka smiled then walked away quickly. He wasn't giving up yet.

If Keiko wanted to walk home with him he could probably talk to her and show her hes a good guy.

Aki watched as her brother left and another boy talk to Keiko, saying he could walk her home. She smirked, a plan forming in her head. She ran after Kasuka, the gears in her head turning. She wanted her brother to stop hanging out with that girl, and the 'enemy' wanted to hang out with her. She stopped and slowed to a walk, following a few students behind him. Let's see if I can bend him to my will~ She chuckled to herself, stopping at her locker and snooping through it, watching him from the corner of her eye while placing a few books in her locker. She thought to herself. How to approach him...

Keiko looked up at Kasuka as he came by and smiled. "Hi, Kasuka-kun!" Oh, wait, he's the 'enemy'.... at least that's what Coach said, anyway. And she couldn't just brush off his advice. She was the one who asked him, and since he was the expert, she should just go along with whatever he told her. "Hey Keiko, Ryu felt sick and she wanted me to tell you that she was going home. I will walk you home if you would like just come find me after school." Before she could open her mouth to say anything, he walked away. Keiko furrowed her brow in worry. Ryu was sick? She seemed fine earlier today. But then again, she did seem a bit more down than usual. Was it somethiing she had done? She couldn't help but wonder....

Ryu made her way home slowly. She didnt feel physically ill...just emotionally. She wasnt sure why, and she hoped it went away soon. She closed her eyes and bit her lip as she walked--then tripped over a fire hidrant.
"ow" she said as she sat on the ground in the sun for a moment.

Tristan hummed to himself at the answer Keiko gave him. "Do you think that they'll work out?" He gave her a look of hopelessness and sighed, smiling and glancing away. She really was hopeless. She can 'count on them'? That's how she referred to them? Either she was really shallow or just too simple-minded to think of another person any deeper than that. That hadn't been exactly what he'd been going for--he was hoping for some wild lovey-dovey confession towards some guy she knew or something--but he supposed he could work with it.

"That's--" he was cut-off as Kasuka walked up and talked to Keiko who, just as bubbly as ever, replied. Tristan rolled his eyes, but studied Keiko's reaction after Kasuka had walked away. No different, it seemed, except for her worry over her friend Ryu. He reached over and patted her on the head. "I'm sure she's fine," he said honestly, giving her a smile. "But maybe you should check on her after school." He paused, retracting his hand and pouting. "Though I absolutely forbid you to walk home with Kasuka. He'll totally ruin everything we've been working on." He grinned at her again. "Besides, you're my gal, so he can stay out of it, right? Now! I say we try for Gackuto... No particular reason. What's his favorite scent?" A weird question, sure, but legit nonetheless.

Keiko felt her head being patted, as she glanced over to Tristan and nodded at his suggestion. "I think I'll do that. I'm sure she'll instantly feel better after seeing my lovely face," she said jokingly with a laugh. "Though I absolutely forbid you to walk home with Kasuka. He'll totally ruin everything we've been working on." She blinked in confusion. "Huh? Oh, okay." She still didn't understand exactly why Kasuka was such a villain, but she shrugged it off.

Then he asked for Gackuto's favorite scent, and her mind went blank. "Favorite scent?" Keiko repeated, blinking. "Um..." What did his favorite scent have anything to do with her trying to find a boyfriend? Such a strange question, Keiko noted. "Well, I'm sure he likes sweets, so maybe something sweet-smelling?" she suggested. Other than that, she had no clue. She didn't usually go up to people and ask for what smells they liked....
