Personality: Kai is a very angry individual. She is easy to lose her temper and even quicker to lash out. With her abilities in Kung Fu, she is more confident when it comes to picking a fight, leaving most to admire instead of envy. Since she is a beauty, she uses it to manipulate whoever she pleases. Particularly nerd boys who will wholeheartedly complete her assignments for her with the wink of an eye. She can also be seen as deceitful, mocking and witty. Deceitful because she doesn't hesitate to lie and cheat to get her way, mocking to those who see themselves as either victims or better than the world, and witty for her ability to be unwavering in the face of enemies and always has something smart to say. Her defense mechanism is strong and if you seem to find out or deduce anything about her 'problems', she is quick to snap and make excuses. Only ones who can get her to soften up are babies and cats.

Image
Typical Attire: Kai loves to wear loose fitting sweaters and shorts. She prefers either flip flops or knee-high design socks with slippers.

Keepsakes: Her black hills gold necklace that bare a cross and a ring she wore as a baby.

History: Kai was born to a family where she was an only child. It was a perfect scene until Kai's mother died of an illness when she was 5 and her father began to gamble. For that reason, they never had money for anything. So Kai was stuck in the same clothes from elementary, year after year, and even when she started middle school. Kai wore glasses and childish clothes, so she was the center of attention when it came to teasing. On the last day of her 7th grade year, Kai lashed out on a girl who had been commenting nonstop on how ratty and unkempt Kai was. The girl ended up in the hospital and Kai ended up having to go to therapy for her anger. They moved Kai to a different city, different school, and paid for her housing until she was able to get a job. By the time Kai had transferred, she had become a beauty, concentrating more on her looks than anything. Another point for the old teasing was that everyone knew she had dyslexia. So at the new school, she made a point to cover it up. From then on, she was 'to cool' for school work and had no problem getting someone else to do it for her. No one knew it was hard for her to do it, they all thought she didn't want to do it. That was when she heard about Jou, a university student who was helping around the school to tutor kids. She was curious so she contacted him and in no time, she had him wrapped around her finger. With him being around so much, Kai has been starting to feel more and more comfortable with him. Even more odd is the weird tingles she gets ... maybe she was sick?

Other: No one knows about the out of town nursery job. Kai also takes medication for her dyslexia, depression and anxiety.

"Isn't the morning sky just as lovely as a blooming rose?"

Morning already ...? But ... How did it come so quickly ...?

The mattress shifted slightly as Ava adjusted her weight. She sat up slowly, one hand on the mattress while the other lifted to rub at her eye sleepily, in much the way that a child would. She yawned a bit, a soft sound escaping her lips as she did so. It was way to early for it to be morning, but a quick glance at a clock on the wall assured her that it was, indeed, time for her to get up and start breakfast.

Turning her gaze to the person beside her, her face shifted from a sleepy expression to that of a gentle one. Her heart skipped a beat as her hand moved out to softly brush a stray strand of blue-black hair from the person's face, revealing the eyelids that masked the intense blue eyes of her brother.

Kiro ....

Closing her eyes for a moment, she leaned down and dropped a light kiss on his forehead. Her hand lingered in his hair for a moment as she pulled away, before that too was withdrawn from his body.

Reaching out, she snatched a stray shirt of his that was tangled with a pair of her boxer shorts on the floor, hopped into the odd outfit, and freed her hair from where it was trapped beneath the shirt. Six a.m. What a ridiculous time for someone to rise - b ut it couldn't be helped.

Stifling a yawn, she stretched as she padded from the large room that belonged to her elder brother, down the hallway and into the kitchen. As she entered the room, she slipped her apron over her head and tied it around her waist, and then plucked up her cell phone from the counter, sliding her thumb across the screen to check her messages, before sighing once more.

This stalker is getting out of hand ... I should tell Kiro ... But ... Then he'll go all 'Over-Protective Alpha-Male' on me ... On second thought, I'm sure I can handle this on my own.

Opening the text, she blinked at the blaring screen in an effort to dull the aching protest her eyes gave her at the sudden onslaught of bright light.

I won't be ignored, Ava. Damn it, my love for you is real.
And if you don't accept me and my love soon, I can promise you, my dear ...
The pain I will make you feel will be just a real as my love.

Pressing her lips together, she pushed back the fear that threatened to bubble up and escape.

It'll be fine. You'll be okay. Just because you don't know who it is or how they got your phone number, doesn't mean that they can hurt you .... Right?

Roughly shaking her head, Ava clenched her fists.

"He can't hurt you, so stop overreacting," she whispered, nodding as she spoke.

Saving the message to a file on her phone so that if need be she would still have it, and locked her phone and set it back on the counter.

"Just put the problem out of your mind. All you have to do is be careful when you're alone, Ava, and you'll be fine," she said, as if trying to reassure herself that the problem wasn't as real as it was proving to be.

Moving over to the fridge, she pulled out a carton of eggs, a box of bacon, and various other ingredients - green peppers, ham, mushrooms, shredded cheese, and sausage. Placing them on the counter beside the stove, she ducked down to grab a small pan and two medium sized skillets, before popping back up and placing them on the stove. After flicking on the heat of the stove, she grabbed up a remote and turned on a nearby stereo, which immediately began to softly play Girls Dead Monster, a band that Hiroshima Arts Inc. had signed and produced. After putting the remote down, she turned back to the stove and easily layered the pan and skillets with a spray-on, nonstick pan spray. Immediately afterwards, she cracked a couple of eggs into the pan, dropped the bacon and sausage into the skillets, and stepped back as the meat crackled and popped in the spray.

Rotating on her heel, she moved into the bathroom that was joined also to her bedroom. Having showered the night before, there was really no need for her to do so this morning, so instead of slipping under the shower head, she plucked up a brush and quickly took care of the tangled mess that she called her hair.

"Why couldn't I have been born with a normal hair style and color? I mean, jeez, if it gets any more wild, I won't even be able to contain it with my ponytails and barrettes," she muttered, scowling.

Lightly patting her cheeks, she left the bathroom to check on the food before going to her bedroom and pulling out a blue skirt that reached to mid-thigh, a matching blue tank top, and a dark brown leather jacket. Alongside those, she snatched up a pair of white socks that reached to just above her knees, which were adorned with a pair of little blue bows at the tops, and grabbed a pair of knee-high brown boots.

"Stupid college, banning me from wearing my Lolita dresses ..." she grumbled as she tugged on her clothes. It took her only a minute or two to do so, and as soon as that was done, she was back in the kitchen, flipping the eggs in much the way that one would do a pancake. It landed perfectly on it's opposite side, and while that side cooked, she turned to her bacon and sausage. It wasn't long before she had the meat on two separate plates and she was crushing half of the sausage. As soon as the eggs were done, she removed the omelette and added the ground sausage to it before slipping it onto a plate and sprinkling shredded cheese on top. Sliding it across the counter, she put that plate, a plate with a heart helping of bacon, and a glass of orange juice in the spot that Kiro normally sat, before turning back to make her own omelette.

Once all of the food was finished, she turned off the stove, put the ingredients away, and quickly and easily took care of the dirty dishes before returning them to their rightful places.

Sighing, she glanced at the food and then at the clock. Six-thirty, and Kiro still hadn't even stirred. He had to be work at seven-fifteen, the dummy.

Shaking her head, Ava left the kitchen and padded down the hallway once more. Popping her head inside, she shook her head again at the sight of him still sleeping.

"Sleeping like a baby. Why am I not surprised?" she murmured.

With a small smile on her lips, she tip-toed into the room and over to his bed, her hand reaching out to lightly touch his shoulder.

"Kiro, you need to wake up. You have to be to work in forty-five minutes and you still need to eat and drive there," she said softly, gently shaking his shoulder.

When this gained no response, she rolled her eyes and climbed onto the bed on her knees, directly beside him, and used both of her hands to shake him.

"Come on, Kiro, you can't be late for work and you know that. So get up and out of bed, lazy-bones," she said, pouting slightly.

"God dammit," Kai yelled in frustration. She had been obsessed with the new game she had, so obsessed she had woken up at five o' clock because she was desperate to beat the level she was on. It was starting to seem impossible the longer she played. "Alright, another go ..."

Kai looked to her left and noticed the time. Her heart dropped and her eyes widened.

"Oh my god, I'm late." She hadn't even made a slight attempt at getting dressed. A short panic befell her until she remembered she didn't live that far, so not much of a deal. Besides, her uniform was already set out and she had a lunch made. Well, if you want to call it lunch. The young woman fear that if she ate breakfast she would gain weight so it was a good thing she had to skip it. If she didn't keep up her appearance ... no, she didn't even want to think about it. It didn't take long for her to get dressed and head out the door, book bag on her shoulder and weird culinary concoction in the other.

The walk was so nice that Kai couldn't resist slowing down. A breath of fresh air was hard to come by anymore. A vibration emanating from her pocket startled her and somewhat upset her for ruining the moment.

Study Session: University Library
DON'T FORGET

"St-stuby ...," Kai struggled to read what was on the screen. "That's right! I'm seeing Jou today ... and finals are getting closer and closer. My knowledge of whats gonna be on there is minuscule! And who knows what will happen if I don't go on to the next grade." Realization had dawned upon her and a feeling of dread replaced it. "I forgot to take my medicine ..." But it was to late. She stood at the gates that lead to her school, the dread lingering and probably would all day.

"I'm so screwed!" Kai tossed her book bag onto the ground, giving it a healthy kick to send it flying through the gates and towards the school. "I could say I'm sick ... but I have to be here for class! Oh, then there is tutoring after school and I'm gonna look like a complete and utter idiot!" Kai paused. She knew that she cared if people saw her looking stupid, but why Jou? He was a total push over and the only one of her friends he knows is Ava. Still, the feeling of looking foolish in front of him made her feel ... feel what? It wasn't like she liked him. Right?

"Kai! You're late again! Get to class before I haul you to the office," one of the teachers yelled when he spotted her in the middle of an internal argument. Kai simply grabbed her book bag and practically ran for her classroom.

Today is gonna suck ... I know it ...

Kai gazed out the window that was next to her and yawned. World History wasn't in the slightest bit interesting to her. But since she was only seventeen, going to school wasn't optional. She wondered what it would be like, after next year. She never thought about college or what she wants to do. Maybe start her own nursery? That would be a blast! But probably expensive ... she was making enough for rent, food and cell phone bills at the moment. Kai pulled out her phone and scrolled through the contacts. Almost two hundred of them, none she ever talked to.

"Zurita! On your phone in plain sight? How about you read the next paragraph."

"Uhm, how about no? I'm sorry sir, but I'm not in the mood to read much of anything today. Let alone something that will never help me along in life." Kai stood quickly, making her way for the door.

"Zurita! Kai Zurita!" Don't worry, sir. You can punish me later." Kai winked seductively at her teacher, leaving him at a loss for words as she shut the door in his face.

Man ... I'm in some deep shit ...

"Kai?" Kai turned to see the american exchange student looking very puzzled. "Kai, aren't you supposed to be in class?"

"Benji! Long time no see! How about we go get some coffee?" Kai wrapped her arms around one of his and winked at him, tugging him lightly. "Come on, we can come back for our stuff later."

Benji nodded with a blush and followed Kai through the school and off campus. The coffee shop wasn't far of a walk so Kai plotted a way to stay out most of the day with someone at least.

"So, Benji, why haven't you texted me or called me. I mean," she said, grabbing his hand, "I think we have something here." Benji blushed furiously, chuckling as if he didn't know what to say. "I have something to do after school, but if you want, I'll call you and you can come over and-" Benji held up his hand to stop Kai from speaking. She was terribly confused.

"Look, Kai, I know what you are trying to do. Back in America, there are loads of girls just like you. And honestly, I pity them." Kai stopped in her tracks, looking at Benji as if he had seriously offended her. "I know it might seem tough, Princess. But one day, you're going to hurt someone you care about and they aren't going to come crawling back because you offer to have sex with them. Or you might even seriously offend someone just by asking if they want to have sex. In reality, how man men have you slept with." Kai couldn't speak. The words wouldn't come out. She could feel the tears coming so she ran a few paces ahead of him so he wouldn't see.

"Fine! I didn't need you anyways! Go back to class you idiot, you're gonna miss out on something you shouldn't." Then Kai continued forward.

Who in the hell does he think he is! I ... I've never ... Kai stopped. I've never been so embarrassed in my life ... What if he tells people? What if people start thinking I'm a slut?

Kai walked on to the coffee shop, but stopped again. There was a small kitten in a box, staring up at her with huge eyes. "Oh my god! Aren't you the cutest thing!" I was as if all of her cares had been drop kicked off of a cliff. "I've always wanted a cat! Can I take you home little man?" The cat meowed and Kai smiled. "You understand me. Don't you?"

"And then I just walked off! I mean, what else am I supposed to do in a situation like that?" Orion, what she named the cat, meowed in response to Kai and her ranting. "Of course I'm not going to apologize! I didn't do anything wrong! I was trying to be friendly! Why is it always my fault." Orion gave another meow before rolling over on his back. Kai laughed and pet his stomach. "I should probably go back and get my bag, huh." With a sigh, Kai got up and headed out the door. "I'll go shopping on the way back from school, I don't mind not having a cell phone for a month. That or I'll have to work more. Anyways, I'll be going now. Try not to poop anywhere! Bye, Orion."

Kai shut the door quietly behind her. Now she had a kitty and someone to talk to. Despite earlier events, Kai was having a pretty good day, not caring a bit what Benji did or didn't say.

"And it is a beautiful day, so I shouldn't worry that one boy saw through my act. Besides! Who would believe him over me anyways, I'm more popular and attractive than he could wish to be." Kai took a deep breath. "Yeah ... that's what I need to keep telling myself."

Eurydice tossed and turned in her sleep, her cherry red hair sticking to her face with perspiration and her eyes closed tightly shut against the nightmare. In her dream, a young man with grey-colored hair and lavender eyes stood over her menacingly. As he smiled, his teeth glinted like the Cheshire Cat's and his eyes took on an angry hue. He leaned down as his hand cupped her and whispered, "You're my slut now."

Eurydice shot up with a scream, heart beating a million miles per minute and her eyes wide as saucers. She put a shaky hand to her chest and glanced over at the clock. Seeing the time emblazoned in red against her retinas, she sighed and laid back down against the pillow, knowing she wasn't going to get back to sleep anytime soon. Those nightmares had ruled her darkness ever since that day in the closet. At first, they were bearable. Frightening, but bearable. Now, however, they shook her and terrified her to the extent where she couldn't even function normally in the daytime. What made matters worse was that he went to the same school as her, so she never got a break.

Sighing again, she rolled off the bed onto the mound of pillows she had laid out on the floor last night, specifically for this reason. Grabbing her phone from her dresser, she checked her messages. She saw nothing, as always, and opened up a new message slot for Jou.

Good luck with tutoring today, hope she shows up

He had told her a little of his schedule to tutor a girl in her grade. Kai, she remembered vaguely, was the girl's name. She had seen her around, but they had never exchanged words, as was most often the case with Eurydice. Standing up, she stretched a little and opened her dresser, pulling out her light-wash jeans with a hole in the knee, and a navy blue v-neck. Most of the time she'd be terrified of wearing a v-neck, afraid he would take it as an invitation. But, seeing as how she hadn't gotten the chance to do laundry over the weekend, she didn't have much of a choice.

Heading down the stairs quietly, so as not to wake her father, she pulled out the milk jug and a bowl of Lucky Charms, sitting down at the table and eating peacefully. Not that anything would have awoken him in his passed out state, she still wanted to be careful. Her father could be a real pain when he was hungover, and she didn't think she could handle the brunt of it after a night like she had.

Finishing her cereal, she checked the clock over the microwave and decided it was an appropriate time to start walking to school. She grabbed her brown leather backpack and slid on her converse, walking out the door quietly and gently closing it shut. A month ago, she would have popped in her headphones and listened to her music, but now she was too terrified that she would get lost in the sound and be unable to hear what was going on in her surroundings. He always tended to be lurking, and she hated being caught off-guard around him. He would no doubt find a way to use it to his advantage.

As she arrived at the school, she spotted the familiar people walking to class or to meetup spots with their friends. As she continued walking to her locker, she spotted Jou and was about to make her way over to him when Ava came bursting through the crowd, dragging him away into the corner. Taken aback, Eurydice made no move to intrude on their conversation. While she liked Ava, the girl had been the one to introduce Eurydice to him, and some part of her will never forgive Ava for that.

Reconciling that she would see Jou later, Eurydice went on to her first period class, taking a seat in the back and waiting for the lecture to begin. About five minutes after it started, a girl with black hair rushed in and took her seat by the window. The teacher was cross, but Eurydice didn't pay much attention. She recognized the girl as Kai Zurita, the student Jou was supposed to tutor later. Thinking nothing of it, Eurydice returned to her notes.

About twenty minutes later, just as the class was coming to a close, the teacher yelled at Kai for being on her phone. Eurydice glanced at the girl, but not long enough to make eye contact as she made a seductive exit. The instructor was so flustered they didn't even finish reading the passage. He excused them all early from class, and Eurydice was the last to walk out. As she entered the hallway again, she looked around for Jou, but seeing no one, she took it as a blessing that he didn't find her, and she walked out to the courtyard where she could sit in peace.

"It doesn't matter who or what you are. Evil is evil, and there is no right to be such."

Her lips turning downwards, they trembled a bit. What was she going to do? And now she had told Jou and-

At least her cousin was more than willing to help her.

But dear God, what if this psychopath went after him because she told him? She wouldn't be able to live with herself if something happened to her dear cousin because of her.

Shaking her head viciously, she clenched her hands into fists, almost breaking her phone in the process.

No, she had to have faith that whatever force out there would ensure her cousin's safety. Besides, this was another form of punishment for her - it was the universe saying that she never should have even existed, and therefore should live in torment for the rest of her days.

At least, that's what her father had always told her.

Glancing down at her phone as it vibrated in her hand, she grimaced. Was her really sending her another text?

It wasn't until she looked at her phone that she sighed with relief. The picture of her brother popped up, alongside a message that he had sent her. She quickly unlocked the phone and scanned over the words on her screen.

Hey, Ava, I might be late coming home tonight.
Don't wait up for me, okay? You need your sleep.
They have me doing a ton of paperwork. But I'll go through it as fast as I can.
Did you get to school fine? Are you feeling okay?

Pressing her lips together, she mulled over what Jou had said, before quickly typing a reply.

I'll leave some dinner in the fridge for you.
But when you get home, wake me up.
There's something I should have told
you a while ago. It's important and you
need to know as soon as possible.

Pressing send, she locked it and lowered her hand to her side.

"Alright, Jou. You're right - as always," she said with a small, trembling smile. "I should have told someone sooner, and I should have told Kiro. I'll tell him when he gets home tonight, okay?" she said, forcing her smile to become steady. It didn't quite reach her eyes, though, as she turned them up to his. Reaching out with the hand that held her phone, she grabbed his sleeve in a light pinch. "Thank ... Thank you, Jou," she said softly. "I don't know what I would have done. I was going crazy, you know?" she said, attempting another smile. Turning her face away, she dropped her hand.

"Anyway, we should probably get to our classes. The tardy bell will be ringing soon, and we can't be late, now can we?"

Turning on her heel, she gripped her bag more tightly, shaking her head quickly. She stepped away, and before she knew it, she was walking towards the school.

Just put it out of your mind, Ava. It's nothing to worry about. Everything will be okay. You'll go to the police after school with Jou, you'll see Kai, and then you'll tell Kiro when he gets home tonight. Everything will be alright.

She rounded a corner, nodding firmly as if she were agreeing with herself.

Her phone vibrated again, causing her to lift it and slide open the message without thinking. Her eyes turned down to the screen, and as soon as she realized what she was looking at, the phone slipped from her fingers and thudded to the grass below, bouncing a bit as it did so, the picture remaining open and prominent on the screen.

It was of her. Walking.

Wearing a blue skirt, tank top, and thigh-high socks with bows and knee-high boots.

Next to a building.

The building she was next to right then.

And the clothes that she was currently wearing.

Trembling, she back away from the phone, her eyes locked on the screen as tears appeared in them. Her hand shook as she raised it to her lips.

She didn't even have time to prepare herself for what was to come, and all she knew was a flash of pain in her skull, and then all was black.

~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~

Dark ... It's ... It's dark ... Turn on the light ... Please ... I don't like the dark ...

Ava groaned, stirring slightly. Whatever she was laying on, it was cold and hard - and extremely uncomfortable.

"K ... Ki ... Ro ..." she groaned out, moving her arm out from beneath her body. It was heavy and numb from laying on it, and almost seemed to be like dead weight. She ground her teeth together as she pushed herself up with her opposite arm, sitting in a cross-legged way.

The room was pitch black, but her eyes soon adjusted to the darkness so that she could make out shapes in the shadows. The floor was cement and dirty, cold and hard, and explained why she felt so stiff.

Turning her head sharply, pain exploded through her skull, causing her to nearly go unconscious. She gasped and lifted her hands to clutch her head, only to hear rattling sound of metal-on-metal.

Chains.

Or, well, shackles for that matter.

Adjusting her weight, she moved so that she was instead kneeling on the ground, her eyes looking side to side in an effort to figure out where she was exactly.

"Ah, so I see that the pretty doll is awake. Do you like your new outfit?"

Blinking, Ava reflexively looked down at herself, only to find that she was wearing a revealing, long maid dress.

Shaking her head, she turned her face upwards, her expression hard and unyielding. "No, I can't say that I do. I know your voice, but I can't place it. Now show yourself, you coward!" she snapped, yanking roughly at the chains that held her to the floor.

Several moments ticked by until there was a response. When it came, it was shocking to say the least.

Laughter.

Maniacal laughter.

From the shadows stepped a man, a man who was all too familiar to her.

Yanking back, Ava's eyes widened. "Tsu-Tsubaki?" she stammered out in surprise.

He chuckled, brushing his hair back as he used slow, languid strides to approach her. "Well, it definitely took you long enough, love," he purred. When he reached her, he crouched down and grabbed her jaw. His eyes bore into hers, which were hard rubies at this point. She pulled at his grip, attempting to yank herself from his grasp.

"I do apologize for the damage I did to your head. Such a shame. But I warned you to accept me and love me in return, so it really isn't my fault at all, now that I think about it," he smirked, lifting his free hand to brush some stray hair from her face. She recoiled from his touch, which drew a chuckle of amusement from him. He leaned back, releasing her chin. "Don't worry, pretty doll. You'll warm up to me eventually. And then you won't be able to resist taking me into your arms and loving me," he laughed aloud, spreading his arms out wide.

Ava scowled at him, turning her nose up as though in disgust.

"I could never love a rat like you. My heart belongs to someone else, and it will never be yours, te figlio di una cagna," she spat, her lips twitching in anger.

He simply smirked and leaned back from her, his eyes glinting with malice.

"Well, if I can't win you over the easy way ... Than I suppose I will have to do it the hard way."

He rose and disappeared into the darkness for a moment and she heard the clashing of metal-on-metal. He eventually returned, a tray in his hands, and set it down just out of her reach. She couldn't see the objects on it, but as he reached down and lifted a long, leather whip, she yanked away, scuttling backwards on her bottom.

"Oh, no you don't," he said with a laugh, easily grabbing her ankle and yanking her back towards him. He leaned his face down to hers, his nose almost touching her own. "I'm going to make you love me, pretty doll ..."

Then all she knew was pain.

"I cannot believe the audacity! Young lady, you are going to be on cleaning duty for the rest of the year!" Kai sighed and rolled her eyes secretively before putting on a mask of understanding.

"I don't know what came over me ... I'm so sorry. I accept whatever punishment you may bring."

"We will be calling the organization responsible for you to find a fitting punishment."

"Do what you may." Kai bowed respectfully before taking her leave from the office. A few girls waited for her outside, they wanted to see how brave Kai handled such a situation. "How was the show, ladies."

"Wow Kai! You were so sincere there is no way that your punishment will be that bad." Kai laughed and shrugged. A head of red hair caught her eye. "Hey, were gonna head to our club room now, sound good?" Kai nodded and waved by to the younger girls. They were such a ... delight to have around. But they practically worshiped the ground she walked on, so not much to complain about. With no more distractions, Kai walked over to the girl she recognized.

"Eurydice?" Kai peeked at her face. "Oh hi, long time no speak. You're being as small and reserved as ever. Anything new?" Kai took a seat next to her classmate. She pulled out her cell phone to check the time. Still time ... Kai darted her eyes back to Eurydice. "I've been absolutely delightful! We should really hang out some time, do you have my number?" She figured she would give it to her anyways. Kai tore a piece of paper from one of her notebooks, scribbled down her number and handed it to the eye catching girl. "We've been in school together a long time. I know we don't talk, but if you need to, just hit me up, alright? I live by myself so don't worry about bothering anyone." Kai took a bow and excused herself. "If you don't mind, I have some tutoring to get too. Have a good day!"

It seemed almost habit to greet everyone she knew and ask them how they were, but most would freely come up to Kai and speak with her whenever. But not Eurydice. Kai thought at first maybe she was socially inept? But she only just started acting this way, well ... more reserved than normal. It couldn't be good for a person.

The university always confused Kai, but she had retained enough knowledge to know the main path to the library. On her way, she spotted a phone laying in the grass. Strange. She picked it up and inspected it, but it seemed to have ran out of power.

"Maybe Jou will know who this belongs to." Kai continued on to the library. Within minutes, she made it to the library and spotted Jou sleeping soundly on on of the chairs. Kai laughed, sneaking over to his chair and stared at him for a few seconds. "He is pretty cute," she whispered, tapping her cheek in thought. But with a shake of her head and a small pat on her cheeks, she cleared her head and decided it was time to wake him up. She grabbed her back and dropped it in Jou's lap. "Come on Einstein! You can sleep when you're dead!"

After he was alert, she reclaimed her bag and dumped its contents onto the table, including the stray cell she had discovered, but it slipped her mind and she began the usual set up. "I don't know why," Kai lied, "but today has been tougher than most. It's like I can't concentrate at all. I even got yelled at in class for it." The sorrow that entered the air around her was very unique. "I mean ... I've been trying so hard to please them, but it's like ... my feelings aren't taken account for ..." Kai let a tear escape before wiping it away so Jou wouldn't see that she was crying.

Eurydice reached into her backpack and pulled out a small golden apple, her favorite. Taking a soft bite, she felt her phone buzz and pulled it out of her jean pocket. Flipping it open to the message screen, she smiled when she saw it was a message from Jou.

Thanks.
How you doing?
School going ok and everything?

It wasn't usually like him to send something quite that invasive, but she didn't mind. Jou and her had been friends for so long that she hardly even cared what he asked her. Again, she thought of him, and the fact that she hadn't been able to tell Jou. As a matter of fact, she hadn't actually hung out with him in a really long time. She missed him, and decided that she would make plans with him soon. He was, after all, the only one she felt comfortable enough to do that with. Realizing she hadn't actually replied, she began to type.

I'm okay. School is being school. Your little student got kicked out of class.

Speaking of Jou's little student, Kai Zurita came sauntering down to the bench Eurydice was sitting on. The tall, beautiful, girl with black hair made Eury feel like she was a child, but she was used to feeling that way so it didn't bring her down as much as it might have. Kai started to speak, and Eurydice listened calmly without saying much of anything, as always. "Oh hi, long time no speak. You're being as small and reserved as ever. Anything new?" Eurydice shook her head, a blush forming on her cheeks even though Kai hadn't asked her anything embarrassing at all. Before Eurydice could say anything, Kai moved on as if she had spoken anyway. "I've been absolutely delightful! We should really hang out some time, do you have my number?" Eurydice shook her head again, and took the piece of paper that Kai handed her. Looking down at it, she made a mental note to add it to her contacts, but knew she probably would never have the courage to initiate conversation with the popular teenager. "We've been in school together a long time. I know we don't talk, but if you need to, just hit me up, alright? I live by myself so don't worry about bothering anyone." Kai took a bow and excused herself. "If you don't mind, I have some tutoring to get too. Have a good day!" Kai bounded off and Eurydice cracked a smile, thinking of Jou and what kind of situation he had gotten himself into. At least Kai was actually planning on showing up, so Jou wouldn't be all together disappointed.

Eurydice sighed, knowing she didn't have anything planned for the afternoon, as per usual. Not wanting to go home to yet another afternoon with her perpetually drunk father and/or sadist blackmailer, she stood and made her way to the coffee shop across the street. Sitting down, she pulled out her phone again and texted Jou. Usually she never texted someone so much before they replied, but she knew Jou wouldn't care. He probably wouldn't even see it until after he was done tutoring Kai anyway.

Meet me for coffee when you're done? I'll buy...

As she waited for a reply that would surely take an hour to arrive, she pulled out her books and sat down to her long-time neglected studies.

"S-sorry!"

Jou jolted awake, brought from his comfortable dreamless sleep by a loud shout and a foreign weight on his lap. After the short spasm, he groggily opened his eyes and spotted Miss. Zurita. Embarrassed at his reaction and that she had seen him sleeping he merely nodded at her previous statement.

Jou cringed a little in a flustered manner as the girl walked over to him where he was sitting. Though she just ended up recovering her bag that she had thrown on him. Jou shook his head to clear it. Trying to wake up a bit more.

A little less groggy, Jou made his way with Miss. Zurita over to one of the nearby tables. Though he was a little concerned with the way his young pupil was acting. It was the afternoon and there were a few people in the library to study. Certainly more than before he had started his nap. He bowed a bit to those looking over at the ruckus.

As Miss. Zurita dumped her bag onto the table, Jou also pulled out a few items from his satchel. Though he he was too focused on finding the schoolwork and listening to Miss. Zurita to notice the pink phone which had also spilled onto the table. He gathered what he recognized as the first bit of the girl’s homework. Then, like normal, he began to work his way through it rather quickly while she started to talk.

Jou listened as Miss. Zurita told him about her day being bad and her being unable to concentrate. He nodded a bit, most of his attention on the work in front of him. Though as she continued, she began to sound a little distressed and sad. Looking up from the homework, Jou spotted a tear which Miss. Zurita quickly cleared away. Jou frowned a bit at the situation, concerned about her situation but still fresh on seeing Ava in truly dire straits.

“I, don’t know.” He mentioned as he continued to work on the sheet. “Have you tried talking to the teacher after class?” He asked, trying to solve the situation, recalling his own experiences. “A lot of the time teachers have to be pretty stern and can’t really focus on individuals during the day. Though I think that they can sometimes be scary, if try to talk to them one on one later most of them are actually pretty nice.” He continued, finding it was pretty easy to multitask the work and the conversation since the contents of the sheet were fairly easy to him.

“When I was in school I was scared of my teachers quite a bit, but when I finally worked up the courage to talk with them it got a lot better.” Jou said, finishing up the first worksheet and looking up toward Miss. Zurita. Though when he did he noticed that she was a little closer to him than he was comfortable with. He blushed a bit and looked down, handing the worksheet over to her.

“A-anyways-” He trailed trying to keep focus away from himself. “Here’s the first sheet. I know it’s easier for you to look them over afterward, but I think you should at least work through some of them. I can help you if you want. This one is pretty easy if you know the trick. You ju-.” Jou stopped mid sentence. He had been absentmindedly looking around the table while trying to keep his gaze away from Miss. Zurita when he spotted it.

That's weird.

If Jou hadn’t talked with Ava this morning, he might not have recognized it so quickly. Normally he didn’t pay much attention to what people’s phones looked like, but with what happened this morning the features were fresh in his mind. The pink tone, the flowers and bows, the assorted fluffy baubles hanging from it. It was definitely Ava’s phone.

“When did Ava give you her phone?” Jou asked, very confused at the situation.

Kai more so watch Jou work than anything. He gave her advice on talking to the teachers about needing help. Yeah right. Then word will get out and I'll be the laughing stock of the school. While she was lost in angry thought, remembering what she used to go through, a paper appeared in front of her. Kai blinked a few times, looking over the paper. “A-anyways-” Jou stuttered. “Here’s the first sheet. I know it’s easier for you to look them over afterward, but I think you should at least work through some of them. I can help you if you want. This one is pretty easy if you know the trick. You ju-.” Jou stopped mid sentence. Kai raised an eyebrow, but continued to look at the problems before her. It was true that she should have done more on the sheets, but she didn't know if what she was looking at was real or her mind playing a dirty trick on her.

When did Ava give you her phone?” Jou asked, sounding very confused. Kai looked just as confused to the phone that lay among her things on the disorganized table. Her eyes grew wide with realization as she snatched the phone up.

"You're right! This is her phone! I bought her this porcupine for Christmas and she spent at least a month telling me it wasn't a porcupine! But look at it, what else could it be?" After Kai stopped rambling on, she once again tried to power it on. "Maybe she dropped it cause she was in a hurry and it knocked something loose, like a connector or damaged the mother board in a way? I know how bad she is when she is in a hurry." Kai hadn't realized how much of a nerd she sounded like until it resounded in her head. "I-I mean, maybe she broke it ... What class does she have next!" Kai shoveled everything off the the table and into her bag. "I can take it to her ..."

I don't think Ava would just drop her phone ... that's to careless ...

"Wait! Nevermind, I remember! She has Advanced Physics! Which is .... that way!" Kai instinctively grabbed onto Jou, pulling him along with her.

"I'm sorry, but Ava never showed up to class this morning. I was curious as to what happened, guess I'm not the only worried one." Kai bowed politely.

She waited till they were out of the classroom and it was clear to pull Jou down a vacant hallway. "So if she never went to class, but her phone was in the court yard it means she was here, for sure. If she dropped it ... she was either running from something or someone, or she was taken by surprise. Is there a security office here? We can look on all the court yard tapes of this morning to see if that really is the case. Did you know of anyone that wanted to hurt her?" At this point, Kai was furious. When she found whoever had taken Ava, they would suffer a wrath no man should have to endure.

Eurydice had just finished her text to Jou when her phone buzzed again with a text from him. She pursed her un-glossed lips and tucked a strand of red hair behind her ear. She didn't need to open it. She could just go on with the rest of her day, not opening the text, and everything would be fine. And even as she was telling herself this, she knew that if she didn't respond promptly, she would be the one regretting it in the end. With another moments hesitation, she opened up the message.

Where are you

Not even a question mark to make it look kinder. He only sent statements, commands, as always. Sighing, she responded with a dreadful feeling in her stomach.

Coffee shop on 6th

She could have just said coffee shop. She didn't need to tell him the address. But she also knew that he would ask regardless, and if she didn't respond it would mean more punishment for her later.

Looking outside, she saw the sun beating down strong. Maybe he would be too miserable in the heat to come see her. She hoped this were true, though she knew it to be unlikely. There was also the hope that Jou would respond to her text soon enough and say that he was on his way to meet her. She knew his tutoring had to be over soon, and she also knew that if Jou were with her, he wouldn't be able to try anything. She hoped Jou wasn't too busy with Kai, but she wasn't going to text him again either. Twice in one hour was already too much for her.

She ordered another coffee and resigned herself for another long night.

"S-sorry!"

Jou gulped. This was not good. After Miss. Zurita had confirmed that she had found Ava’s phone lying on the ground instead of some less sinister reason for her having it, Jou had been in sort of a daze. His crush had then acted quickly when Jou had been spacing out.

After Miss. Zurita finished dragging Jou in and out of a classroom to confirm that Ava had been absent in at least one of her classes today, they finally stopped. Jou stood silent as Miss. Zurita worked her way through what may have happened. Running from someone, taken by suprise. Wanted to hurt her.

I told her everything was going to be fine.

Guilt and horror washed over Jou like a wave of frothy blood. Sticky and ripe with the smell of death. He brought his hand up to his mouth, trying to stifle a sound that wouldn’t come out. Jou didn’t know what to do. Ava had been terrified, those messages and pictures were serious. Jou stood there for a long moment before he even remembered Miss. Zurita was there.

“She… Ava, told me this morning.” He started slowly and quietly, struggling to even get the words out. “There were so many texts, pictures to. Someone was following her. The messages were threatening.” He stopped and closed his eyes for a moment putting his hand on his forehead and looking down. “This afternoon… after the library we were going to bring it to the police and get everything…” Jou shook his head.

We should have gone right then. I should have taken her right then. It was obviously that serious. How could I have put it off. It’s my fault. I wanted to tutor Miss. Zurita and it’s my fault because I… Not helping. Focus. This is too important.

Jou slapped himself and after a long moment of introspection. He looked up at Miss. Zurita. Her statement about the security office finally registering. That was a good idea.

“Yeah, there’s one nearby. Let’s go.” Jou started off in the direction of the security office, not running but at a brisk and industrious pace. “We need to make sure she is really missing.” He mentioned as they walked. He took out his phone and checked to see if Ava had ever responded to his message.

There was nothing on the phone but Eury’s reply from earlier. He turned on his contact notifications sound, then quickly sent a reply message.

Sorry something’s up.
HAVE YOU SEEN AVAZONA TODAY?
Ask around for me.
It’s serious.

After sending the reply, they had arrived at the security station. Jou got the initial statement out of the way. They were supposed to meet a friend today, she hadn’t showed up. They found her phone in the courtyard. She had been having some trouble with a stalker. Info was on the phone.

“Miss. Zurita, can you take a look at the tapes with them?” Jou mentioned to the girl after he was finished with the security officers. “I need to give her brother a call, make sure if he’s seen her or not and tell him the situation. I’ll be in there in a minute.” Jou felt a bit rushed so he didn’t exactly wait for a response.

Jou then stepped off to the side and dialed his cousin’s personal cell. He knew it would be much harder to reach him if he went through his business line. He really hoped this was all a coincidence. That Kiro would pick up the phone and him and Ava would be out at some surprise dinner, laughing the situation up and thanking them for finding her phone. Jou hoped. The first ring went by. Jou started to hope that Kiro would even pick up the phone.

"Many of our greatest battles are also our greatest victories."

"Well? Have you decided to submit yourself to me, pretty doll?”

Sweat mixed with tears and blood on every exposed inch of her skin. It trickled down her face and into thee corners of her mouth, the sweet, metallic taste of the combination exploding her taste buds. It trickled from her lips and down her chin.

She had been moved from the chains on the floor to ware she was now held upright by a rope from a ceiling rod. The rope had long since dug into her skin, giving her severe burns and leaving an uncountable amount of rope fibers in her wrists. Her feet were bare in the wet, sticky mess of blood and sweat beneath her body and on the cold, hard floor, making it impossible to stand. Her bare knees were bent, and she simply hung from the ceiling at this point, her entire body trembling from the pain and exhaustion that filled it.

Her head was down and her pink hair was matted to her face and head. Her breathing heavy and loud, she clenched her fingers slightly in attempt to get the blood to flow into them once more, for they had long-since become dead weight from being strung above her head for so long.

Ava had long since lost track of how long she had been in the room for, seeing as there were no windows. It could have been minutes, hours - even days. She doubted it had been so short or so long, though, and could imagine that it had only been a few hours. But obviously that was more than ample time for him to come up with new, creative ideas on how to torture her.

Her head lifted slightly, more sweat trickling into the deep scratches on her face. She spat blood at it, and it landed square in the middle of his chest.

"Go to Hell, stronzo ..." she snarled weakly.

His expression clouded and his lips turned into an angry sneer. It took only two long strides for him to reach her, his hand moving out to grab her jaw in a bruising grip. He yanked her face up to his, his eyes boring into her own.

"You can fight me all you want, pretty doll, but you have only two options when it pertains to this: You can either give in to me ... Or you can die and no one can have you," he said, stating it as simply as one would state the weather or the time of day. He released her jaw roughly and stepped back, letting out a dark chuckle as he did so. "I truly hope you choose the first, but the latter works just as well, my pretty, pretty little doll ..."

Her scream echoed in the cement warehouse.

~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~

"Daddy, look! I drew you a picture!"

Holding up the page that was nothing but a scribbled mess, she beamed up at the man who was, indeed, her father. He glanced up from the newspaper he was reading, spared one fleeting look at the paper, before scowling at her.

"I'm busy reading the newspaper, Avazona. Unless you want a beating, I would highly recommend not bothering me again with something as stupid as a disaster of an excuse of a drawing," he snapped out, before turning back to his newspaper.

It was several moments before Ava slowly lowered the paper, her eyes sad and confused.

"But daddy-"

"I said be quiet, Avazona!"

"Daddy, I lo-"

"Avazona, shut the Hell up!"

The crack across her face sent her to the floor. She barely managed to catch herself with her small, seven-year-old arms, but as she pushed herself up onto her knees, she lifted a hand to gingerly cradle her cheek. Without a word she rose, the explosion of pain dulling only bit-by-painful-bit. Her footsteps made only soft sounds on the floor as she walked from the room, the picture long forgotten but still clutched in her hands.

When she reached the small room that was hers and adjoined her brother's large room by an oak door, she quietly shut her own door and moved to the center rug in the room. Plopping down on the floor and crossing her legs, she stared at the picture.

It wasn't until small droplets of wetness were forming little circles on the paper that she realized she was crying.

Sniffing and lifting her hand to rub at her eyes, she began to shred the paper, ripping it into tiny, unrecognizable pieces.

"Remember, you're nothing but the daughter of a whore. You're a bastard child. A mixed mutt who wasn't even supposed to exist. You deserve this. It's your fault that your daddy's so grumpy all the time. You were never even supposed to exist. You were just a mistake," she whispered, throwing the torn pieces on the floor.

"It's okay, you don't need anyone to love you. You're just fine on your own. Just don't tell Kiro. You can't tell Kiro, or daddy will be upset again," she sniffled, her already-bruising cheek still aching. She lifted her hand to rub at her eyes again, only to come away with blood. Moving over to the nearest mirror in her room, she frowned.

A nosebleed. Of course.

~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~'.'~

A sob of pain escaped Ava's lips as the knife dug into inner arm. Her arms had long-since gone numb from her being strung up, but the knife slicing into her skin brought pain shooting through them. She couldn't tell what he was doing exactly, but he was making several curves in her skin, and the torture seemed endless.

Crying out, she jerked against the ropes as he struck an even more sensitive part of her arm.

It seemed like an hour before he pulled away, a slightly-mad look and smile on his face.

"What do you think of my art?" he asked, holding up a small hand-mirror to reflect her arm back to her.

Horror flooded through her as she slowly made out the design on her body, through the mess of blood and shredded skin.

Tsubaki.

Bile rose into the back of her throat, a combination of pain and horror causing her nausea to arise, and she turned only slightly before she lost her breakfast from that morning.

She was left shaking and trembling, tears streaming down her messy face. Her head drooped towards the ground. She didn't know how much more of this she could take. How long had it been? One hour? Four hours? Seven? God, how long had she been at his mercy?

"Kai ... Jou ... Kiro ... Everyone ... Please, forgive me," she choked out, her body jerking with her sobbing.

"Oh, shut up Avazona. They can't hear you, and even if they could, why should they care? They haven't come for you yet, so what makes you so sure that they even cared enough to report your absence to anyone who could help you? There's no help coming for you, so you might as well relinquish yourself to me," Tsubaki laughed, stroking the length of her face with the tip of his bloodied knife.

She jerked her face away, causing a small slice of the knife to dig into her skin - yet that was the least of her injuries at this point.

"They'll come for me - and if not them, than the police. You won't get away with this," she ground out, yet her certainty had slowly begun to wane on the matter. If they really were coming, than why hadn't they arrived yet ...?

Jou explained everything to the two men in the office, then handing it over to Kai. “Miss. Zurita, can you take a look at the tapes with them?” Kai raised an eyebrow to him. “I need to give her brother a call, make sure if he’s seen her or not and tell him the situation. I’ll be in there in a minute.” By the time Kai processed what he had said, he was in the hall making the call to Kiro. She ran towards him, snatching the phone out of his hand.

"No you idiot! Kiro's only gonna get in the way! You know just as much as I do that he cries when Ava is remotely late gettin' home! What do you think this situation with pull out of him?!" Kai was about to hang up his phone when she heard a faint hello on the cell phone. "Kiro! It's Kai, I didn't have your phone number so I stole Jou's phone. I was gonna ask you where he likes to be licked but I found it out, thanks, bye!" Kai quickly hung up and shoved the device in her pocket. "That was close, now come on!" The girl once again dragged Jou into the office. She saw that the men were looking at a tape when her eyes widened and she dashed to the monitor. "That's it! She was taken!"

"We will enhance it to see if we can identify the man," a security guard offered. It didn't take long for Kai to realize who it was.

"Tsubaki! The ass whole! I figured he only asked me all those questions 'cause he had a crush on her! Not so he could be creepy and kidnap her!" She wanted to call him and yell at him, but she figure it would make things worse for Ava. "Jou, you're a flippin' genius, here is his number," she stated as she pulled it up on her phone and handed it to Jou. "I need you to track this number. We need to get to Ava now." Kai started to panic, her anxiety kicking in. "I ... I-I need to run home real quick. You track the number and I'll meet you at the front gate in ten minutes." Kai left no room for conversation as she dashed out of the room, through the halls and off campus.

It didn't take long to arrive home. "I should have never agreed to go on dates with that creep ... all he wanted was dirt on Ava and I gave it to him." Kai hadn't realized she took off with Jou's phone until she was stripping and her skirt clunked to the floor. She quickly pulled on sweats, her workout sports bra and her finger-less boxing gloves. With her hair tied into a messy bun and her bare feet, she was ready to literally kill this guy. With all of her Kung Fu and his scrawny ass? There was no way she couldn't win. She took a quick puff of an inhaler then dashed off to meet Jou.

"Any luck," she said, running up to him with nothing but concern and hate in her eyes.

"S-sorry!"

Jou stood there dumbfounded for a moment as Miss. Zurita ran off toward her home. It had been impossible to refuse her motions after she grabbed his phone out of his hand. Even though the situation was dire the embarrassing phrasing she used over the phone had thrown him through a loop. At least momentarily. He wasn’t sure how to reply to her request to track this Tusbaki’s phone by a number on her’s. Not that he had much of a chance to respond before she ran off. He tried to shake off the latent embarrassment and confusion. He knew he needed to focus.

Jou turned to talk to the campus security officers. He quickly proposed they call the police, they agreed. Jou didn’t know much about this Tusbaki, but he gave them the all the information Miss. Zurita had on him in her contact page. He hoped that would be enough to identify him. As the security officers when to go contact the police and relay the information, Jou tried to think of a way to contact Kiro. Especially now, Ava’s brother had a right to know what was going on.

While Jou was waiting on the security officers, who were busy talking to the police, he tried to figure out a way to contact Kiro. Especially now, Jou knew Ava’s brother had a right to know what was going on. He lifted Miss. Zurita’s phone up to dial his cousin’s cell, however quickly realized he didn’t have the number memorised. Who did in this day and age? Gritting his teeth, he tried looking through Miss. Zurita’s contacts but he couldn’t seem to find a contact for Kiro’s personal cell.

After a few moments of searching, Jou was able to find a phone book in the security office. He used the cell to call Heroshima Arts Inc.’s main line. He left a message with the receptionist for Kiro telling his cousin to call him as soon as he could. He told the receptionist that it was urgent and gave Miss. Zurita’s number as one Kiro could contact him at.

As Jou finished the call, the security offices called him over. The police wanted to speak with him. They asked him a few questions that he answered to the best of his ability. Then they told him they had sent a few officers over to Tusbaki’s residence. Luckily due to their collaboration with campus security and the information Jou and Miss. Zurita had provided they had identified Tusbaki as a suspect. The police said they would call him when they had any updates. Jou gave them his and Miss. Zurita’s number.

--------

Jou arrived at the front gate around the same time as Miss. Zurita came running up. He gave a wave to her.

”Any luck,”

“The police said they are sending a few officers over to Tusbaki’s home. I think we should head over and check it out.” Jou noted and started out of the gate and down the street. The campus security officers had relayed the location to him before he left.

The police said they are sending a few officers over to Tusbaki’s home. I think we should head over and check it out.” Jou noted and started out of the gate and down the street. Kai followed Jou to what she assumed to be Tsubaki's apartment. It wasn't to far away, Kai assumed since he was a student he wanted it to be closer to the university.

"Tsk ... Amatur," Kai said, walking up the stairs to his apartment behind Jou. "Oh, Jou," Kai grabbed his wrist. "I know this is Ava, but don't go and get hurt, alright? Don't make me worry two-fold." The girl laughed lightly before letting Jou's arm go. They had made it to what Kai assumed to be Tsubaki's apartment. With a deep breath, Kai wiggled the doorknob ... it was open. At first it looked normal, but once she entered the living area, it was obvious how disturbed the man was. There were pictures of Ava plastered on the walls, pictures of her home, Ava leaving her classes, Ava in her room ... What the hell was wrong with this guy. "I know Ava's pretty ... but come on, this is sick." Kai quietly opened door after door, looking for any sign of Ava.

"I don't see her ... Where could they be?" Kai looked around at the pictures, trying to see a clue or something. No matter how many games she played, this was much different. There were no cheats or hints. Kai clenched her teeth, looking down at the cluttered coffee table.

"S-sorry!"

As they arrived at Tusbaki’s apartment, Jou started up the stairs but was grabbed from behind by the wrist. His confusion quickly turned to embarrassment as Miss. Zurita expressed her concern for his safety. After a few awkward moments she laughed and let go, then they entered the apartment.

Jou looked in horror at the main room of the apartment, the walls were covered in pictures of Ava. He began to feel the same pang of guilt that had come earlier when he realized what had happened, but he quickly pushed it away again. He and Miss. Zurita began to look around the apartment for Ava. Though it quickly became apparent to both of them that she was not being held there.

”I don’t see her … where could the be?”

“It’ll be ok, when the police get here I’m sure they’ll find something. We should probably wait and try not to touch much in the mean time.” Jou mentioned, though he continued looking around. He couldn’t really handle just waiting around. Especially thinking back to when Ava had told him about the situation. He hadn’t acted right then and then this had happened.

Looking absentmindedly, Jou spotted a stray piece of paper with the words storage lease on it. Pushing some other papers off of it, he quickly scanned over the document. As he realized what it was, the excitement of the realization made his heartbeat increase rapidly.

“I think I found something. Take a look at this!” Jou called Miss. Zurita over to where he had found the document. “It looks like this Tusbaki rented out some sort of storage unit. This could be where Ava is.” Jou mentioned as Miss. Zurita seemed looked over the document.

“We should probably wait until the police arrive to head to the address.” Jou mentioned, though he didn’t really want to wait himself. He tried to put his mind off the waiting by briefly pulling out his phone. He had felt a notification earlier when they were walking up the stairs, but hadn’t checked it yet.

It turned out to be a text from Eury. Jou typed a quick reply.

Ava’s missing.
Call me if you hear anything.
I’ll talk to you when it’s over.

Jou finished up the text then realized it would be a good idea to update the police. After calling them and a few moments of being transferred to the person he had talked to earlier, he relayed the information. A few moments of conformation he hung up his phone and returned it to his pocket.

“They They said they were updating the squad car, which is now heading right there.” Jou told Miss. Zurita the contents of his phone conversation. “They said it would be dangerous for us to get there first. But it’s pretty far away, but if we start heading there now we should still probably get there after them. What do you think?” Jou mentioned to Miss. Zurita, hoping that she would want to go now. Jou was fresh off what had happened earlier today and was feeling impatient out of fear that something else bad would happen that he might be able to prevent.

---Kiro

The first half of the morning was much of a bore to Kiro, whcih he had expected it to be. Spending the greater half of the morning reading through papers and stamping his indsignia on them, while yawning every couple of minutes and stretching while pacing back and forth, he thought he was completely done with the boring part of the day. At least that was before his assistant brought in another stack of papers, placing them on his desk as if they were heavy weights. Crouching over, almost enough for his chin to touch the table, he glared at the papers as if was trying to telepathically burn them with his mind. "Please tell me this is it for today," he said in almost a whining tone.

"I believe so sir. However I do recommend finishing it all so it doesn't pile up like the last stack. That load alone was work you put off for the last three work days."

"What?" He shot up in surprise. "Then what did I do yesterday?"

"Work you put off from last week."

"So what was I doing last week?"

"I believe you said something about a friend of yours inviting you to a basketball game. Oh, and one of those days I caught you playing with a Rubik's cube."

Giving a slightly nervous chuckle like what a kid would give his parent after giving them a bad report card, he turned back to the papers and sighed. "Very well then. I'll have this done in no time."

"Very good sir." With that his assistant left the room and he buckled down to finish his work. It took a few more hours than he wanted and he had to skip lunch, but it was worth it in the end. At least he knew that if he finished all of his work for today then he could take Avazona out the next day without having any of his work load holding him back from enjoying a day off.

Once done, he checked the time. 12:40. Seemed like a good time to check on those new models the agents had. It was usually a fun thing for him to do. At times he felt like he was one of those American idol show judges. Though a lot of groups and performers seemed to be the same old thing that he had seen time and time again, some people really impressed him. So much so, that if he wasn't in business mode, he'd jump at a chance to sign them. However, being a business leader, he needed to first set up times where he could meet with the agents and performers individually. He didn't do this for everyone, but for people whom he deemed outstanding, he wanted to interview them himself. Sometime in the middle of this he received a call on his phone which, by checking the caller ID, he was able to tell was Jou. It was peculiar indeed that he had received calls from anyone. Even Ava didn't call him that much during the day. Other than texts his day was voiceless when it came to cellular conversation.

"Hello." He answered normally, though he was wondering if something was wrong.

"Kiro! It's Kai, I didn't have your phone number so I stole Jou's phone. I was gonna ask you where he likes to be licked but I found it out, thanks, bye!"

Before he could hang up, he was hung up on. A smile grew on his face. "What a strange girl. Hehe. I hope Jou's okay."

Though the distraction was short, it was a good break from work in able to get him pumped again. In minutes he was sure he was working twice as fast, though that was probably just his imagination. Soon, however, he received another phone call. He didn't recognize the number but from the middle codes he could tell it wasn't a normal phone number.

"Hello."

"Yes. Is this Kiro Hiroshima?"

"This is him."

"Oh good. I'm glad I could reach you. I'm Satomo Juki, one of Avazona's instructors. Usually I wouldn't make such a fuss about it, but she is usually on time for class and rarely absent. I was wondering if she was sick or something."

Absent? The thought ran through his mind as he replayed the events that had occurred earlier in the morning. She didn't seem sick or anything. Could it be that she was sick and decided not to go to school? No. That wouldn't make sense. She would have told him. Besides, she messaged him a few times earlier in the morning. Said she was going to cook dinner and save him some for when he got home. He also remembered that she said she had something important to tell him. What could it have been though?

"Mr. Hiroshima? Are you there?"

Snapping out his train of thought, Kiro motioned towards his phone again. "Uhh, yes. Yes I understand. I'm sure it's all a bit of a misunderstanding. I'll have a talk with her and see if she's okay."

"Good. Thank you a lot. I'd hate for one of my favorite students to stop showing up to my class. Not a lot of people like my class. Oh yeah. Now that I think about it, a younger male and woman came looking for her as well. Hmm."

"Oh... Okay I have to go now. I'll call you if any news pops up." With that being said, Kiro hung up the phone, thinking about what he should have done. Could those two people have been Jou and Kai, and if so, why would they call him with an odd conversation if they were looking for Ava. If they went to her class to look for her then that could only mean that they had something urgent to say to her. That or..... He quickly dialed Ava's number into his phone, but when he received no answer he quickly grew flustered. That wasn't like her at all. Usually she'd answer his call if he did call even if it was during school hours. Something was wrong.

"Sorry gentlemen, I have to leave on urgent family business at the moment. We shall continue this viewing in a few days, I'll have my assistant set up a time for you."

As he ran out of his office towards the exit, he was called by a few people, but was in no mood to stop. He couldn't stop. Something was telling him that if he took away anymore time, he'd end up regretting it.

Once he was in his car he sped towards home only to find that she wasn't even there. Having no leads he called Jou and waited for his answer. As soon as he heard something other than a ring, he quickly said, "What's going on Jou. Where's Ava. She's not home and she's not at school. I don't know what to do. This isn't like her at all. If you know anything you have to tell me."

I think I found something. Take a look at this!” Jou called Kai over to where he had found a document. “It looks like this Tusbaki rented out some sort of storage unit. This could be where Ava is.” Kai tore through the document with her eyes.

We should probably wait until the police arrive to head to the address.” Kai nodded. She was confident in taking him on, but now that she had seen his apartment, this guys was a complete quack job. It chilled Kai to the bone thinking she ever even spoke to him. She heard Jou speaking on the phone, probably to the police, telling them what he had found.

They said they were updating the squad car, which is now heading right there.” Jou said. “They said it would be dangerous for us to get there first. But it’s pretty far away, but if we start heading there now we should still probably get there after them. What do you think?

Kai nodded in agreement. "Ava is gonna wanna see us. If things have been going bad, seeing a bunch of strange men is just going to freak her out, whether they are on our side or not." Kai looked back to the sheet that she held in her hands, the address was right at the top. "You're right, it is pretty far, but we can make it within a good time window."

"S-sorry!"

Jou nodded at Miss. Zurita’s assessment of the situation. It would hopefully be a comfort to Ava if she had friends there after she was rescued by the police. He didn’t want to think about her sitting alone after being kidnaped. He was about to head out with Miss. Zurita when his phone rang. Before he could even ask who it was his cousin’s voice exploded from the speaker.

From Kiro’s hurried and sporadic tone, Jou could tell that his cousin was agitated. Though it wasn’t surprising considering the situation that Kiro explained. It appeared that Kiro had found out Ava hadn’t been to class today and had been unable to contact her. Which made sense considering what Jou and Miss. Zurita now knew. Jou briefly felt guilty for not contacting his cousin earlier. Though that washed away when he heard the roar of a car engine over the speaker.

“Kiro... you... need to calm down for a second.” Jou said in the best soothing tone he could muster at the moment. This crisis would become even more of a disaster is Kiro ended up in a car accident. “Krio, pull over for a moment. I, we think we know where Ava is.” Jou waited for a few moments hoping his cousin would heed his advice.

“Listen Kiro,” Jou started, trying not to agitate his cousin even more than he already was. “We think Ava may have been… kidnapped-but we know where she might be!” Jou tried to relay that everything was going to be ok. “The police are on the way and should be getting there soon.” Jou thought for a moment. At his cousin’s rate of speed in a car driving paranoid Krio might get there before the police if Jou told him about the storage location.

“Kiro, come pick us up.” Jou said, relaying his and Miss. Zurita’s location over the phone. “We’ll all go together and see Ava when we get there.” Jou tried to make himself sound as upbeat as possible. Not only for his cousin but himself and Miss. Zurita as well. Even Jou needed to hope that everything was gonna be ok.

“Kiro... you... need to calm down for a second.”

Calming down was the last thing on Kiro's mind at the time.

“Krio, pull over for a moment. I, we think we know where Ava is.”

That's what the man wanted to hear. "Really? Where...Where?"

He couldn't help but to focused on the where of things right now. Jou was making everything seem indefinite, but what he wanted was a definite answer. He'd kill for any type of answer that was straight and direct. Kidnapping was already inside of his head. He didn't want to focus on that. What Kiro wanted to know was where he could find his sister. That was the only thing that mattered.

"If I come pick you up then what will I do if I'm just a minute too late? I have to go straight there Jou. You understand right? I'm sorry, but I can't waist any time." With that said, he called the local police station and quickly retrieved the information he needed. It was sometimes a good thing to known around the area, but most of the time it had always felt like a life cheat. Maybe this too was because of him. If good things could happen to people because of money and fame then bad things were also sure to happen, right? He had thought so. What if her kidnapper was nothing more than a person after his money? That'd make it his fault that she was taken. It had already felt that way seeing as he should have made sure she had a bodyguard or something. It may have seemed over the top in the past, but thinking of how their clients and singers would have security, he realized that maybe it wouldn't have been too far out of the ordinary for them to have some as well.

"OOOOhhh. What am I thinking? I have to hurry up." His cars engine could have been heard from miles away, as he was revving the rpm's almost to the red zone. Paying no attention to the speed and only stopping for lights, he wondered who would make it there first, him or the cops. Though, judging how things worked in the law systems, he was almost a guarantee to get there first. Justice was never there on time and when he pulled up to the alleged location, he marked yet another time where something was too late. Seriously, if the cops knew before he did the location, then why weren't they here? Was it a paperwork thing? Was his sister being left in her probably scared and hurt state just because of some needed paperwork.

"Why can't I stop thinking about dumb things?" The answer would never come to him. It was just his thoughts were jumbled do to his minds alerted state. It was even throwing off his thinking process. Before he even thought of a plan, or consequences to his actions, he was face to face with the door of the building. The same building his sister was said to be held captive in.

Without second thought, he opened the door, almost throwing it away from him. From there on, his memory get's a little hazy. For you see, when a person lays eyes on something that absolutely tears a hole into their world, managing to show that person he or she isn't as safe as they think they are and also managing to hurt someone who they never thought would have to feel pain...... When that happens.... well, the person might just break. It didn't happen as soon as he opened the door. His adrenaline was trying to take over his body, and as he was flung into an unfamiliar situation, he had his guard up, expecting the worse. However, when he laid eyes on his sister and the blood that was surely coming from her pain.... Well, there was actually no way he could prepare for that sight.

So he blacked out. Basically giving his body away to his current emotions. The man who had seemed surprised that Kiro was in the room didn't even have time to react before the man was on him. Kiro, who had not tried to hurt someone even with words before, was now mawing this deranged lad like the boy had just entered a lions den and messed with its king. Needless to say, when the cops did arrive, maybe six or seven minutes later, the kidnapper wasn't going to be identified as anything other than a lumpy red mush of cuts and bruises, and the man who entered the crime scene and did that to him was crying while holding his sister in his arms.

All the while this was happening, that man was still in a dazed state. Sure the tears were flowing his his grasp was tight, but his mind set, may have been forever changed do to the event.
