Physical Description: Like her brother, Astrid has the same golden, blonde hair as her father and mother. Her eyes are a crystal blue just like her father's eyes as well. She usually wears nothing but dresses, and honestly, she's more than a little vain. The glasses on her face are nothing more than show, because she thinks they'll make her look smarter.

Strengths: Vampirism || As one of the original vampires, Astrid has all the strengths, as well as the weaknesses. She has superior strength, heightened senses, and speed. She has the ability to bring any human under her control, be it through trance, or by making them her thrall. Pure bloods like her father and herself have the ability to either turn a human into a vampire when they bite them, or to make them almost like a zombie. They become like a ghoul. Hellbent on serving the vampire who bit them, a thrall will do anything their master says, even self-harm.
Kai || Pureblood and Noble vampires all have the ability to create what is known as a familiar. Vampires can shapeshift into an animal form, and their familiar is what they look like. As's familiar is a large, white tiger named Kai. Usually around humans, he takes on the form of a small, white cat so as not to cause a disturbance. He is a fierce fighter, and has the same cryokinesis as Astrid.
Understanding || Despite being an immortal vampire, Astrid has an excellent sense and feel for human emotion. Unlike her brother, she can empathize with them and understand them.

Weaknesses: Gentleness || Astrid does not like to fight, and only does so as a last resort. This can make her slightly vulnerable, as it is clear that she doesn't like to fight back. Her opponent can take advantage of this, and inflict some serious damage.
Fire || Because of her ability to manipulate ice, she is almost powerless against fire attacks.
Sunlight || While sunlight is not fatal to pure blood and noble vampires, it does severely weaken their powers and ability to fight.

Abilities: Cryokinesis || Astrid can manipulate ice and water in all of its forms in order to fight. She can even create ice from the moisture in the air around her.
Shapeshifting || Unlike most vampires, who can only change their form into one set creature, Astrid can shapeshift into anything she wants, even another human. She can make herself look like a man, a child, an elder, nothing is outside of her reach. As such, she is excellent at things such as infiltration and recon.
Telepathy || Astrid can communicate with people directly into their minds, making her rather good at manipulation, although her gentle nature keeps her from doing so, for the most part.
Song || Astrid's greatest ability is that she is able to shape the reality of the world around her through her voice. She sings, to be exact. Depending on the song she sings, she can do various things like shifting the earth beneath her, healing wounds, and even controlling time and space.

Oddities: Temper || While kind and gentle by nature, Astrid is vain, and has a temper like no other. While angered, she usually doesn't see sense, and can lose her temper over the most trivial things, like the weather not being how she wants.
Humming || Astrid will hum absentmindedly to herself, forgetting about her power. Humming isn't nearly as powerful as her outright singing, but it can still be very powerful. She's been known to create tears in space, trance people who will then follower in a zombie-like manner, or even transport objects through space to a different location. Needles to say, she can sometimes cause quite a stir.

Family: Julian Solomon || Father || 921 || Vampire
Liam Solomon || Twin Brother || 904 || Kitsune
Charlotte Newcastle || Mother || 16 || The Reincarnated Princess

History: Much like her brother, Astrid's life has been rather uneventful. She went to school, like her brother, but as she doesn't have his brilliance, she didn't go for nearly as long as he did. For the most part, she spends her days caring for her father. She absolutely hates what she is, and doesn't hunt unless she has to. As such, her powers are much less powerful than they could be. However, she has gained resolve, as sixteen years ago she witnessed her brother's hand in the even of their mother's death. Confused, tormented, and scared, Astrid has made a vow to stop her brother, at any and all cost. Even her own life.

"We all have scars from our past. But they usually aren't visible. But in her case..."

The girl ran up the steps in the vacant building, her breathing heavy, eyes wide. She was scared, her heart hammering in her chest. She didn't understand what was going on, or who was after her. She turned a corner, and met eyes with a tall, rather handsome figure above her. What she noticed most were his eyes. One blue, one golden. They were beautiful.

She remembered him as a baby, when he was born. The memory brought tears to her eyes. "Why? Why are you doing this, Liam?"

There was no answer to her question, only a step forward. So she ran. She found herself on the roof and clutched at her chest, her eyes terrified. She looked around, but saw only the empty darkness of the ground beneath her. She spun around when she heard him. Liam still didn't say a word, but only advanced. The last thing she could remember was a shove, and then she was falling.

The impact left her hanging from a rod, the sharp piece of metal entering her back and protruding from her stomach. Her eyes were wide with fear and a small trickle of blood trailed from her mouth. Liam looked down at her, nothing showing in his eyes.

Charlotte was dead once more.

Astrid sighed, brushing her hair behind her ears. Her ice blue eyes skimmed over the same paragraph for the fifth time. She couldn't concentrate, not when it was so close. In a year, the cycle would repeat itself and start all over. Her mother would die again, and her father would sink deeper into his depression. She hated seeing him that way, and nothing she had done over the last nine hundred years seemed to change that.

And then, two hundred years ago, her twin brother Liam had disappeared, too. It was bad enough that he had left. What made it worse was that he was helping her. Haven Blackthorn, the very woman who had started this entire mess. In truth, Astrid just wanted to go back to being a princess, when things were easy and she understood what was expected of her.

She sighed again with a scowl, snapping the book shut and angrily setting it down at the table. With a frown, she glanced over at her father. "Father, what do you want for dinner?"

Julian sat at the dinner table, his hair darkened in thought. It had been almost sixteen years since the last time and he had yet to find his beloved Charlotte again this time around. Time was running out. He could almost feel the curse at work, her slow inevitable death and rebirth approaching with him unable to stop it. For a man who loved as deeply as he, it was pure hell, something Haven most likely had in mind when she cursed them.

"I was at fault. Not them. Not her. I will never forgive you for this."

At his daughter's words, he looked up and smiled at her. His sweet, gentle Astrid. He smiled and placed at hand on her shoulder. There was no since in both of them being down.

"Let's go out. It's almost Mardi Gras again, isn't it? Yes? No? I still want to take my favorite daughter for a night on the down. I might even get to glare at boys who come too close to you," he told her with a wink.

"It's so very festive this time of year! It's one of the reasons I love living here. But why do I have this ominuos feeling...?"

Astrid smiled a little half smile, her eyes sparkling. "Well, you're a day early. But the shops will be setting up, and there will be plenty of people around, and young men." While Astrid was perfectly capable of handling herself and keeping anyone and everyone at bay, she knew her father was overprotective. She let him have his ways. Nine hundred years and he hadn't changed very much.

Astrid was browsing through one of the shops filled to the brim with masks, wondering which one she shuld pick out. Her father was across the street, still eating. The thought made her smile, Julian could out eat almoste everyone she knew. She was looking at a mask that had a large amount of feathers on it when something, or rather someone caught her attention. It wasn't so much the man as it was his presence. She knew from past experience and past meetings what the man was.

Her body froze, but she forced herself to remain calm. She didn't know who he was, but she exactly what he was. After getting cursed by magic when she was only four years old, Astrid could tell when someone had it in their blood. A cold chill ran down her spine. The man passed by the shop she was in, and she turned his way as he did. She let her eyes wander, trying not to linger on him, yet she couldn't help it. Something drew her gaze towards him. His dress clearly did not fit in with those around him, though with Mardi Gras going on, he didn't look too much out of place.

Astrid didn't understand why, but there was something about him that calmed her. Though she couldn't deny that something unsettling was around. Something was twisting in the pit of her stomach, something she didn't like. She took a shaky breath, and turned back to the table of masks.

Still, she wasn't able to shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen.

"Oh, this should be fun, my precious little princess," Julian teased, resisting the urge to pinch his daughter's cheek in the embarrassing way that only parents could get away with when it came to their children. He grinned at her and his hair turned golden once again, content to spend the evening with his daughter as he put his dark thoughts away for a single night.

Julian smiled slightly as he dug into his third cinnamon roll of the night. He always had a rather large sweet tooth, even as a human, and as a vampire, he could afford to indulge in it fully without it ruining his physique. He did not know how it was possible, but he did not question it. Instead, he chose to enjoy himself and pretend for a single night that his life was not a tragedy.

Of course, she had to walk in at that very moment. He'd recognize her anywhere: hazel eyes, silky strawberry blonde hair that fell down to her waist, and, of course, an innocent expression that never failed to make his undead heart race. He hardly noticed the other girl walking in with her as captured by her appearance as he was.

"Charlotte..." His mind rang.

She looked to be almost sixteen, the age where the curse decreed that she must die. His heart almost broke at the thought of her slipping through his hands yet again to suffer, die, and be reborn again and again. He couldn't let that happen. Not this time. Now stood up and, as he passed them by, he greeted her with a smile.

"I know you from somewhere, do I not?"

It was word-for-word the greeting he conveyed to her when they met a second time in their original lives. Hopefully, that would stir a memory within her soul.

Speech - 8A0707Thoughts - D6B040

Something's... not right!

Amongst a the lively crowd walking the streets, Jordan could still feel a pair of eyes on him with little difficulty. A useful but unfortunate skill inherited by the long time he spent needing to watch out for potential sneak attacks on him by mercenaries and thugs. Yet, unlike the few cases where the skill actually came in handy, he... didn't really feel any intent he could associate with murder. More like, a curious gaze. That made sense, considering what he was wearing though he hadn't noticed any such feeling the entire time while he was walking. Why was he just now noticing?

Something definitely wasn't right.

Instead of continuing to walk with this odd feeling crawling down his back, he turned around, hoping to locate the source of it. But nothing was there except the multitude of others walking around. Nothing notable, at least at first glance. He did, however, find his eyes attracted to one beautiful thing that he might've missed before as he was walking. Maybe that was the source of this odd feeling? Perhaps they too had found him attractive? If so, then Jordan couldn't help but think they would look great together! He just had to act like nothing was wrong and go ahead and ask for it, it wouldn't be that hard, right? So, a smug grin and determination in his eyes, Jordan approached the mask store. Because he could see them clearly from the street, Jordan has absolutely no difficulty locating and approaching them. His hand reached out slowly as he didn't want to cause anything bad to happen. They would understand, right?

About 30 seconds later, Jordan laid a mask before the employee and grinned widely. "This! Its power calls to me and has awakened an age-old bond! What might I offer to you, so that I may grant its wish!?" he almost pleaded for his request to be answered.

"Uh...? Like, $16.45?" the employee stated after checking.

And an answer was given, his price was named. Drawing upon the wallet Logan had made him get a while back, he withdrew a 20$ bill and presented it to the man, who gave him his change, 3.55, back to Jordan. The deal was completed, a bond formed. Within his hand now laid mask for Mardi Gras, this one being black and gold and having a long nose. Honestly, it was quite silly, though Jordan thought it looked good.

"Aha! Now I ca---"

And then he noticed it. A woman in the store, but she wasn't just a normal person, either. 8A0707"Y-you're..."[/color] he looked at Astrid, something resembling fear in his eyes for but the briefest of moments. Of course, it was fear because he had accidentally stolen this woman's spot, or so he thought. "Forgive me, Nightdweller, my judgement became clouded with anticipation! You meant to pick a mask as well, yes?" Luckily, the employee thought Jordan was crazy and hadn't picked up on the "nightdweller" comment, though Astrid could probably deduce that he was aware of what she was. Either way, Jordan, thinking she was about to buy a mask, backed away so that she could do so if she wished.

"I never expected fear."

"Forgive me, Nightdweller, my judgement became clouded with anticipation! You meant to pick a mask as well, yes?"

Astrid was well used to being recognized by the magical populace of the world. But what she didn't expect was the fear. The only time she was ever feared was when a human discovered her. Humans always had an innate fear of things they didn't understand, and vampires neared the top of that list.

But witches and warlocks knew of their existence, so the fact that he was afraid of her didn't make any sense. And the fact that he had called her Nightdweller.

"That's not a term I've heard spoken in a very long time. Might I ask your name, sir?"

"You would ask my name? I see." As if he was about to boast about numerous trophies he had earned over the years, or his various accomplishments, the not-so-young man grinned. "Very well. I am he who trembles with unlimited power! I am he who cuts the very threads of fate itself! I am... well, Jordan." He seemed to fizzle out at the end of his declaration, as though he ran out of ideas, which is exactly what happened.

Long ago, he was known by a different name, though he did not remember just exactly what it was. After all, periods of time did exist where he was isolated years on end. Jordan wasn't exactly a long-lived name either, it being what he started calling himself just this particular century. Unfortunate, he just now realized that it did not sound very powerful. How embarrassing! First, he stole this woman's spot in line due to being overexcited and now he was unable to give her the best introduction she had ever witnessed!

Giving a glance over to the employee, Jordan noticed the man had apparently lost interest and instead was messing with his phone, likely paying little attention to them. Since that was the case and nobody around looked as though they were keeping an ear out for them, Jordan spoke a bit more frankly. "Of newer terms for your kind, I am not entirely sure. Aside from such, I think the common word is less interesting to use. Anybody can say it, everybody knows it. Simply unappealing. The word, that is, not your kind." he clarified.

Astrid raised an eyebrow. She wasn't sure if this Jordan was talking this way because it was normal for him, or if he was acting. Perhaps he was acting for Mardi Gras? No, she didn't get the feeling that he was acting at all. He seemed a mite nervous. She crossed her arms, relaxing.

"My kind usually don't prefer to have attention drawn to them like that. It's been a long time since humans have thought that vampires existed in this world. We've found a peaceful way to live among them, and we want to keep that peace. If you want to call me something, Astrid will do just fine." She was smiling, and it grew even wider when a smile white cat jumped up onto her shoulder. "And this is Kai. He's my familiar."

The cat cocked his head to the side , staring at Jordan before mewing and saying, "Hello, young man. You don't fit in well, do you?"

Jordan didn't mind the name she had given him, unlike names he received recently. Sure, some were variations of names he was used to as a non-warlock, but they still felt foreign and odd to him. Astrid, however, was a name he had heard quite a few times in different books he had read over the years. A fine name, most typically used with princesses and the likes of royalty, at least from novels. Perhaps she was some sort of nightdweller princess? Well, he wasn't completely in-touch with reality, but that would be pretty insane, wouldn't it? He wasn't that cra-----

"?!"

THIS FELINE IS COMMUNICATING WITH ME! WHAT MANNER OF SORCERY IS THIS?

Jordan hadn't actually witnessed a familiar before, at least he didn't think he had. Nobody he managed to have a conversation with owned one, and though he did see some over his life, they were all used as scouts and he never identified them. So, despite being capable of creating the illusion of a talking cat himself, he was still surprised to see one actually talk. If she was using some sort of illusion magic, he would've been able to tell, but this was not the case.

"I-I am not one who admires change." he admitted to the feline, noticeably more nervous about the cat than how he reacted to knowing she was a vampire. "Is this the power of advanced sorcery?" his voice quieted almost to a whisper to himself. "Have I become inept?" Clearing his throat, Jordan managed to look back at Astrid. "You referred to it as a "familiar"?"

She was almost taken aback at the fact that he didn't know what a familiar was, but perhaps he hadn't had much dealings with vampires. She could understand this. Usually the magic crowd didn't mix with the vampires, and the latter group didn't take too kindly to the former, being their creations.

She stroked Kai's head before speaking. "It is a very old and deep magic, and only a few vampires actually create them. They are born using our blood and, by extension, a very piece of our soul. Purebloods and high level nobles are the only ones who can actually make them. Familiars become our lifelong companions, but at a price. Should the vampire die, the familiar will as well. While the reverse is not always true, losing a familiar means losing a piece of your soul, and sometimes that is worse than death for us."

She paused, looking at Kai. "We take on the form that our masters will take in the event that they transform themselves, though because Astrid has the rare ability to take on any form she wishes, so do I. This is not the form I prefer, but that form typically cause a lot of commotion in public places. We also have limited abilities similar to those that created us, and we all have the ability to speak."

"Indeed. The short answer to your question, no, you are not inept. Though perhaps a little uneducated in matters of my kind." She smiled again, indicating that she wasn't talking down to him. She enjoyed being able to share things like this. Her curse may never end, but that didn't mean she couldn't try to increase understanding. Peace was what she really wanted.

I was never told this! Ah, well, then again my experience with her kind is purely hostile... guess an enemy would never betray such information.

Being that he was a person capable of magic himself, it didn't take too long for Jordan to adjust to the cat's presence. And that was great because apparently, according to Astrid, this thing could change its form into other things as well! Wait... she could too? They didn't imply it to be some sort of illusion magic like his, but rather she could actually transform! What madness?

"You are capable of entirely mimicking another form? Such power is enviable. I can only pretend to possess such capabilities." he admitted, almost cursing himself for it. "Yet you say this is a rare talent amongst even your kid? Yes, that has to be the case. Otherwise I'd be..." Jordan trailed off, deciding not to finish such a grim statement.

He shook his head and cleared his throat. "Even as old as I am, I am still ignorant in some matters that could have potentially cost me my life. Though I believe it is fine since that was not the case. You have my thanks, Astrid. It is finally nice to meet one of your kind without the attempted assault."

"I have standards to uphold, you know. A princess must lead her people as best she can, even if they don't always follow her."

Kai squirmed on her shoulder, almost uncomfortably. "My Lady..." Astrid shifted, crossing her arms. "What, Kai? Jordan deserves to know exactly who I am. Besides, he already knows my name." She turned her gaze to him, and there was something in her eyes then, something that not only belied power, but commanded respect as well.

"My full name is Astrid Solomon, and I am the second vampire created. I am, in all respects, their Princess, and my father is their Prince. It is a pleasure to meet you, Jordan."

Jordan began to feel a bit cold footed. He wasn't used to dealing with vampires in general, and to hear that Astrid was not only a vampire, but technically the princess of their race? Something like that was beyond him. Also, shouldn't he be addressing a princess differently? He heard tales of how disrespect towards a royal family often led to serious consequences, one of them being death. What would disrespect to a vampire princess net him? Vampire assassins?! That thought scared him. Even if he was capable of defending himself, he didn't want to deal with trouble if he didn't have to.

"I hope it is possible to forgive me for my earlier rudeness. I am not familiar when it comes to dealing with those of noble birth and the like. Rather the opposite, truthfully." he would've bowed if he were actually aware of such a tradition.

"I must be keeping you from something, yes? Surely you have much greater priorities than interacting with a peasant like myself.."

Astrid looked surprised. "No one with the ability to do magic is a peasant, least of all to me. And if I thought myself so high and mighty, do you think we would have reached this level of peace, Jordan?
