ImageArietta was sleeping in the car when it came to a complete stop. Her grandmother shook her, "Dear, you've got to get your schedule today." She laughed cheerfully, "You can't sleep all day Ari-chan." Mrs. Hakushiro told her granddaughter. Arietta's blue eyes fluttered open and she sat up. Rubbing her eyes the blonde laughed as well. She didn't realize she even fell asleep. A new start huh..? She thought to herself enthusiastically. Well.. bright side no one knows me here.. She ran a hand through her hair, eyes lowering as she felt the absence of her pendant, "Arigatou Baachan." She giggled before getting out of the car, closing the door quietly behind her, "I can walk home. I've got my cellphone." She reassured her, wishing to get fresh air. It hadn't been too long since the incident, and moving to a new school didn't change the fact it happened.

She kept her pace slow as she approached Airdalen high school, eyes wandering loosely over it. Sugoi.. it's beautiful.. She thought in amazement. As she approached the building she noticed it was still full of students. Strange.. school has been let out for a while now hasn't it? She shook off her nerves before opening the front doors, strutting through the halls confidently, albeit faking the entire show. She felt uneasy about starting at this new school. It was risky switching schools in high school, what if she fell to the bottom of the social pool? She dismissed her uncertainty for now, heading to the principal's office to get her school schedule. Once inside her mood changed toward the secretary, "Hakushiro Arietta... I'm a new junior and I wa- I'm here to pick up my schedule." Her voice changed compared to how she spoke to her Grandmother, she practically preformed a 180 flip on her personality. Mid-sentence she became cold, eyes staring at the secretary in a demanding manner. This is my bad habit... She thought to herself, smirking when the woman handed her schedule to her, "Finally." She scoffed, turning to leave. I'm rude to people by accident.. and I lie about things that don't really matter.. but somehow all my lies matter to me..

Arietta's eyes landed on someone she truly didn't intend to see, "R-Raiden?!", In the same room stood a very familiar brunet boy (Raiden). Why is he here..? She thought wide eyed and stupefied. She stared for a moment, noticing the small girl beside him. She didn't recognize her, but she knew Raiden would recognize her. They knew each other. Though she couldn't believe they'd switched to the same school. What were the chances of this? Why does stuff like this happen to me? This is an absolute disaster! She thought, frozen in place by shock. There seemed to be a moment going on between the two (Raiden and Mai), so she couldn't help but assume they were involved or something. He has a girlfriend?

She waited for him to say something, baffled by his presence, "What are you doing here?!" it wasn't glee in her voice, but surprise was evident. She was more shocked and angry if one had to define her tone. She even pinched her wrist behind her back, just to make sure it wasn't just some bad dream.

I can't believe this is happening to me. School sucks.

Raiden flicked his pocket knife about for a bit not wanting the blood from the zombie to dry up and stick to it otherwise, that would make it rusty, and in turn not as sharp or effective should he need to use it again. He didn’t know how to feel about the current circumstances apart from deep worry. “R-Raiden y-you okay?" "Raiden, are you alright?" Raiden looked forward to where his female companions were and gave a brief nod response. That was all he could manage before the ground started to quake underneath them. "We should go. Now." Cassie said urgently to which Raiden started to run behind the rest of them. “I second that!” He replied, trying to disguise his panic when he spoke. It all happened so fast. A building was crumbling right over them caused by a gigantic creature Raiden knew a pocket knife wouldn’t be enough to handle, Mai had nearly been crushed if not for Cassie’s sacrifice and he had lost complete sight of Momo.
Raiden gritted his teeth and rushed over to analyse the debris covering Cassie’s body for a way to help her out before she was completely crushed under it. “Y-you said *hic* th-that everythin-ing would be *hic* fine. Were-Were you *hic* lying *hic* to me? Wh-Why did you even push *hic* me aside. We only just met so why? *hic* Cassiopeia do-don’t die!” Raiden looked over at his cousin as she started to cry, as she was attempting to move the rubble with her small hands and although the situation was so dire, he was a bit happy that his cousin had made a friend. And she’s not going to lose her now.. Raiden rolled up his sleeves and started to pull his own weight in helping Cassie out. He knew he wasn’t exactly strong or fit but Raiden just knew they would make it in time, somehow. There was no way Mai’s new friend was going to die on them now so soon after they had just become acquainted. "I'm glad, you're safe..." Raiden almost froze in place as he heard the girl speak. It wasn’t what he expected to hear. Maybe a ‘help me!’ or ‘hurry!’ but the girl didn’t even seem to be concerned on her own well-being. Mai continued to call out her new friend’s name as Raiden picked up the pace at moving the rocks in the way understanding that every second counted. “You shouldn’t say things like that. You’re going to be safe too!” He kept yelling over the noise for two reasons, he really believed and meant what he was saying and he wanted Cassie to stay awake. Just as he had reached out for Cassie’s arm, he awoke.

Opening his eyes, Raiden lazily turned his head to where he felt his sleeve was being continually tugged. It was of no surprise that it turned out to be his dependent cousin, Mai. Instead of being annoyed though, he gave her a soft smile that the nightmare had only just been, a nightmare. “I’m up, I’m up.” He said before sitting upright in his chair to make sure he didn’t doze off again. It finally occurred to him that they were indeed in the school. That part hadn’t been a dream he concocted from his subconscious. But then did he imagine Momo and Cassiopeia up? He slowly stood up from his chair feeling groggy from the unexpected nap before looking behind him where Mai was. His cousin looked worried for some reason but he just shrugged it off as a ‘new kid, new neighbourhood’ ordeal. “Let’s go home.” He was ready to walk out of the room with his cousin in tow before somebody familiar called out his name, causing him to stop in his tracks completely.
”R-Raiden?!" “Auh—“ Raiden let out a small sound expressing surprise as his shoes suddenly felt glued to the ground. Oh holy shit.. He stayed still in position completely with his back facing her (Arietta), not exactly prepared to see her again after everything that had happened between them last time. "What are you doing here?!" Raiden’s eyes wandered to the side for a distraction then wandered to the other side for more distraction but his imagination wasn’t good enough for him to pretend he didn’t hear her or realise her presence at all. He couldn’t just pretend she wasn’t actually there for real could he? He surely tried to. “I—“ He turned around slightly, his left side facing the familiar girl as he cocked his head at a head tilt angle before looking away again, a hand playing with the tips of his hair while he tried to think up an excuse. No excuse was coming up so he lowered his head and looked away. “I’ll be attending here as a student from now.” If Raiden couldn’t come up with an excuse, then he would just state the truth. Turning his back on Arietta again, he pocketed his hands before taking another step away from her. “Don’t worry, I’ll keep out of your way. Let’s go Mai.” He said in the most monotone voice he could muster.
Despite Raiden not having a lot to say, his emotions were torn and conflicted. He was sure Arietta was really angry at him and even angrier to be bumping into him again. If he was being entirely honest with himself though, there was a fraction of him that was relieved. A fraction that thought maybe a part of their relationship could be remedied, clarified and maybe even salvaged. At the same time, the possibility of fixing things between them was slim to nil and he understood that her wishes were if any, for him to stay away. He closed his eyes briefly as he walked deep in thought, one hand’s fist clenching in his pocket as a tension was awakening in his chest that he didn’t want anyone to read. Everything happens for a reason. I just have to believe that..

“Attention everyone!” Raiden looked over his shoulder to find that the voice was coming from an intercom speaker. The female voice coughed before continuing. “Airdalen High would like to apologise for its most recent sleeping gas incident. After thorough investigation, we have discovered the school janitor Miss Morrison had released a homemade fragrance in the ventilation systems as a quick means of performing her duties as cleaning lady, as well as to serve her own means as she has always had a strong disgust towards body odours. Unknown to her, the fragrance also served a second function as a sleeping gas that has worked on a selection of students and staff alike. This specific concoction also possessed a trace of the smell of roses..” “It is unfortunate that one of our senior students has passed away on our grounds due to his severe allergic case.”
“Airdalen High does not tolerate pranks of any sort for any reason given. As a result, the school janitor has been fired and apprehended by the police. Due to this incident, after school clubs will also be cancelled for today. We are deeply saddened by the loss of Varthur Laurence..”

Mai

A relieved smile spread across her face. It almost seemed to light up her features and make her seem a bit more welcoming than she let off for others to believe. Mai’s bright eyes followed Raiden as he stood up but she herself stayed seated, all she could do from her position was look up. “Let’s go home.” Flashing her pearly whites at him, Mai simply nodded and slid of her seat. Well jumping down was more like it, even if her feet hung only an inch or less off the ground. Sometimes her small stature irritated Mai, sometimes she wished she were as tall and outgoing as her cousin but she knew how hard that would be for her.

Brushing off any dust that may have been collected on her bum while sitting there, Mai jumped upon hearing an odd sound escaped her cousin’s lips. In doing so she bumped into him and instinctively grabbed for some sort of reassurance that she wasn’t alone. Mai gently took hold of the bottom of Raiden’s shirt making sure not to grab too much so her action wouldn’t be considered bothersome. Looking up she searched her cousins face with curious eyes then realized someone (Arietta) was talking to him, at least she assumed so. Unless there was another person by the name of Raiden who was also waiting for their papers. She watched as his eyes wondered from one side to the other, Mai couldn’t help but tilt her head in sync before briefly glancing in the direction he was looking at.

Raiden turned to face this person but only enough so his eyes could see her. And so Mai did the same but it was a bit harder for her considering she was somewhat dwarfed by her cousins obviously larger frame. Placing a finger to her lips, she began to nibble on it while looking around Raiden. Who she saw was a girl no older than Raiden. Mai didn’t recognize her but she thought the girl was very pretty. Stepping a bit to the side so she wasn’t quite hiding behind him, Mai watched the two interact with one another. All the while wondering why Raiden was acting the way he was before this stranger.

“Don’t worry, I’ll keep out of your way. Let’s go Mai.” Still in thought, Mai barely managed to catch onto his last few words and scrambled to catch up to her cousins longer strides. As she passed by the girl she paused just long enough to bow briefly, “G-Good-b-ye Mi-iss.” her eyes wide with awkwardness, Mai grabbed the bottom of her shirt and quickly walked over to where Raiden was walking. A shy smile played at her lips as pride warmed her insides, I did it. I spoke to someone. However her happiness was short-lived the moment a female voice began speaking.

Tilting her head, Mai paused to listen to what the intercom lady said. As the lady finished speaking Mai’s happiness was replaced by sadness and what she guessed was pity. To think on my first day someone would die. Rubbing her eyes Mai walked quickly to make up the distance between her and Raiden. Once she reached his side, Mai looked down to the floor her finger back at her lips as she nibbled on it. Without realizing it she took hold of Raidens fingers, making sure to hold onto them lightly so as not to be a bother to her cousin.

ImageShe noticed the surprise in his voice, her anger lessening as she realized he was as clueless as she was. It seriously is just a coincidence that we chose the same exact school? She felt nervous, sad, scared, and angry all at the same time. She was panicking. She never imagined seeing him again, especially so soon.. He didn't answer either of her questions yet, but he wasn't moving to escape either. What was going on here? She couldn't help but glare at the small girl next to him, but she ceased her gaze almost as quickly as it happened. I don't know who she is... I can't get angry with her for no reason.. She repeated that thought in her head over and over, making sure that she wasn't rude to his guest. It isn't her fault. She probably doesn't even know.. She canceled that thought as well. This is a fresh start, don't ruin it for yourself... even though he might..

He finally spoke up, after looking just as nervous and terrified as she was, "I—" He spoke, causing her eyebrow to quirk as she awaited his defense, “I’ll be attending here as a student from now.” He finally informed her, causing her blue eyes to widen in shock. She gripped her schedule, chewing on her bottom lip, "Yeah.. me too..." She spoke softly in disbelief, shaking it off. Then she noticed that he was beginning to leave, “Don’t worry, I’ll keep out of your way. Let’s go Mai.” His voice was uncaring and distant, it still hurt, considering. She closed her eyes and let out a soft breath before calling out, "Raiden." She spoke first, hesitating only a second since he was fleeing, "I'm sorry it had to be this way. I'll stay out of your way as well." He voice was bleak and impassive, but she definitely meant it, whether he believed her or not. She watched him leave, smiling at the girl who was with him (Mai), though it wasn't exactly a happy smile, "Goodbye." she replied to the girl (Mai), not offering any further attention. She ran a hand through her blonde hair, shaking her head and returning to her cold exterior. I'm not going to let him ruin my junior year. She felt more determined and confident, aside from the underlying fear that Raiden would ruin her. She was escaping the events that took place at her last school, namely the reputation she received.

She was waiting for distance between them before leaving, counting to twenty in her head, but her thoughts were torn from her counting as the intercom rang through the halls.

“Attention everyone!” Raiden looked over his shoulder to find that the voice was coming from an intercom speaker. The female voice coughed before continuing. “Airdalen High would like to apologise for its most recent sleeping gas incident. After thorough investigation, we have discovered the school janitor Miss Morrison had released a homemade fragrance in the ventilation systems as a quick means of performing her duties as cleaning lady, as well as to serve her own means as she has always had a strong disgust towards body odors.

Someone died!? She turned to the secretary with disbelief, "If this sleeping gas thing happens again.. you'll be hearing from my Grandfather. I was promised a safe environment when I switched to Airdalen." She stated harshly before exiting, though she wasn't angry for her own safety.. She shook the thought, deciding she was merely sad for the boy who died, she didn't know him.. but no one deserved to die so soon. She opened the door to the office, paying zero attention to where she was going. That could really happen to any one of us.. It's unreal how fast a life can vanish. It's like blowing out a candle. I suppose I was lucky to be a late arrival.. not that I have allergies..

She was in mid thought while walking, something her grandfather informed her time and time again was a nasty habit she really needed to toss, she was always receiving injuries due to her inability to keep her attention on the real world. Her mind was in the clouds when she wasn't worrying about her grades or reputation. Though just as she was about to laugh at herself, she bumped straight into someone, and thanks to her fast paced strut, she fell straight backwards.

"H-hey! Who do you thi-" Then she noticed the boy, blinking surprised, "I suppose that was my fault, I'll be more careful next time." She didn't offer an apology, but she did at least own up to her error, "I'm Arietta Hakushiro. What's your name boy?" She asked the red head (Jonathan), considering she didn't have friends yet, this seemed like a decent place to start. Please don't be a computer geek.. I need positive points on the social ladder, zero is bad enough, I don't need to descend into the negatives. She thought, one hand on her hip, the other holding her new schedule. She was still chewing on her lip, still upset due to her previous encounter, but was keeping the best tough face she could manage. She was doing her absolute best to keep her lip from trembling and her attention on the boy in front of her

While most of the other students who seemed to have their spirits dropped from the news of a fellow student passing away on school grounds, it hadn't bothered Jonathan all that much. He just didn't know this Varthur that everybody had on their minds, and the topic of death was certainly not something that Jonathan deemed worrisome. Everybody dies in the end.

He dismissed the thought, focusing on the present and the future. With rallies for class president starting tomorrow, and with Valentines coming around the corner next week, Jonathan needed to find a way to entertain himself for the next week or so, as he had always deemed rallies unexciting. There's always that new arcade center that's not too far from here, he thought to himself, deep enough in thought that he had zoned out his surroundings to a bare minimum.

Maybe I can ask Kaoru and Momo-

Bump.

Somebody had walked into his back, the second time today. "H-hey! Who do you thi-" Breaking away from his thoughts, Jonathan turned around, slightly startled. His eyes had met those of the female student (Arietta) that had rushed into him, hers an aqua blue? She was the third person that he had seen with blonde hair within five minutes of each other at the most, the fourth for the day.

She quickly apologized for walking into him, but it was more of a statement or mental note that a true apology, before intruding herself as a certain Arietta Hakushiro and [almost unknowingly] demanded what his name was. "Well, aren't you a feisty one? Name's Jonathan Fenix, and it's quite alright, nice to meet you," brightly chuckling off the demanding tone of the student's voice, despite that he was slightly annoyed at how she acted. By judging that he hadn't seen her at neither the beach excursion or when they returned, and that the student before him was holding what he assumed to be her schedule, he would assume that Arietta was a new student. "So, are you a junior or senior?" he politely asked, not wanting to have any misunderstanding. "And I do apologize for my somewhat sloppy appearance, today's been a really... interesting day."

Kaoru finally brought himself to getting up, retrieving his school bag before waving to Sera, "Hey, I'm heading out.. if you and Momo want to get into something this weekend here's my number.. I know I'm going about this backwards, but I'm kind of in a rush.. I've got chores to do or I'll be in trouble." He grinned mischievously, "If that woman comes home and sees they're not done.." He muttered under his breath, shivering at the thought of his roommate Kyoko coming home to his chores undone. Sure she wasn't of any relation to him, but he still listened to her like an older sister. She was in college and helped keep his life normal.

"Ja ne!" Kaoru replied once he realized he was still standing in front of her. He sped out of the room after waving again, about to use the back entrance for his escape. Most students exited through the front of the buildings, therefore the back doors were much less crowded. He saw Jonathan bump into some blonde chick (Arietta), well, it seemed like she bumped into Jonathan.. but the girl was cute.. So he blamed Jonathan. It's just the way Kaoru's mind worked. Perhaps where he grew up around all women? Though he didn't have time to say anything, seeing as the announcement came through the intercom

“Attention everyone!” The female voice coughed before continuing.

An allergy to flowers? I wonder who died... He thought to himself, feeling grief before they even read off the name. He wasn't sure who it was, but if they were a student they were too young to die as far as he was concerned. Though as they read the name it nearly brought tears to his eyes.

“Airdalen High does not tolerate pranks of any sort for any reason given. As a result, the school janitor has been fired and apprehended by the police. Due to this incident, after school clubs will also be cancelled for today. We are deeply saddened by the loss of Varthur Laurence..”

He felt like he was falling down an endless whirl. He knew he was standing still, but suddenly it felt like he'd fallen into the rabbit hole. This had to be what the physical sensation would feel like.. Eiffel Tower died? He thought to himself in disbelief. I just saw him this morning.. I don't understand.. He thought as emotional flood gates threatened to slam against him. Everyone around me seems to die.. Kaa-san.. Otōsan.. Oba-chan.. Varthur.. They all died.. everyone around me keeps dying.. He gripped his bag in attempt to keep his tears in check. Though his entire body was shaking as he stood there, he felt alone, but he knew there was an entire school waiting for him to show signs of weakness. They were waiting for him to give them a weapon to rip him apart with.. especially his senior partner Devone. She practically promised to bring his demise into reality. Again.. Though she didn't know that. He wasn't allowed to cry, especially here. He was a boy, he wasn't supposed to cry. Not even at a time like this. No one would understand, he'd get made fun of.

He decided to get his mind off of it. Jonathan and Momo were still alive, Sera too. He would pay his respects to the family if they weren't allowed at the funeral. He just felt Varthur deserved a little more than a single line about himself. Though he couldn't do anything about it. He approached Jonathan and the pretty blonde (Arietta), "Well you make quick time, don't you?" He teased Jonathan, nudging the red haired male, eyeing the blonde girl nonchalantly. He checked her out as if it was something casual, as if there was nothing wrong with his blunt behavior, "She's pleasant to look at." He smirked, before lowering his arrogance level, "Hi, I'm Kaoru Inoue. Junior. What's your name?" He asked with a foolish grin on his face, whiched seemed to be an iconic expression of his.

Then he looked to Jonathan again, "Man, I just started coming to school into town.. I invited some girls to hang out.. but I'm completely out of my league when it comes to ideas on what to do." He laughed rubbing the back of his neck nervously, "Wanna come too? You know any cool places to go??" He asked practically hanging on a thread as he awaited Jonathan's next response.

Then he smiled to the blonde (Arietta), "You can come tooo!" He chimed with excited laughter, "A cute girl is always welcome, ne?" He nudged Jonathan again. Getting the wrong idea about their conversation (Jonathan's and Arietta's), seeing as he hadn't been paying attention. Kaoru didn't realize what kind of girl Arietta was exactly.

Arietta was instantly speechless when Jonathan straightforwardly tilted her as feisty. There was little she could manage at first other than to stare at the red haired male in stupefaction. She blinked her blue eyes rather fast in the moments following his statement, before she responded externally. She shook her head rather quickly, cheeks a light pink before crossing her arms. She was nervous, attempting to hide behind her cold outer walls, eyes avoiding his before recomposing, "Not particularly. I have a busy schedule that isn't pleasant to disturb and the ladies in the office are simply incompetent when it comes to a speedy retrieval of something even as trivial as a schedule." She laughed confidently toward him. She bit the inside of her cheek before closing her eyes letting out a calm breath, "Let me try that again.." She replied in a softer tone, before she was smiling brightly at him, "It's nice to meet you." She held her hand out for him to shake, obviously quite formal, and from her designer attire, quite wealthy to boot, "I'm a junior this year. I switched classes last minute." She lied pretending she wasn't new, dropping her harshness, though she was still somewhat off. I'm doing it again.. I just lied directly to his face for no apparent reason. She didn't show any indication on her features though, barely even batting an eyelash. She was so accustomed to these pointless lies she told everyone around her that it was almost convincing to even her. She was about to wave and make her leave, but they were approached by a rather eccentric cerulean haired boy. She was nearly staggered by how incredibly the boy was vertically challenged. She was two inches taller than him, and she was in tennis shoes. She couldn't imagine standing next to him in heels.

"...Pleasure..." She smiled, though there was a lot less effort than she posed with Jonathan, obviously not impressed by Kaoru's flirtatious attitude. She uncrossed her arms, folding her schedule and carefully pocketing it. He's too short to be hitting on the likes of me. She thought, mentally amusing herself as the boy continued to talk about her looks, irritating her a bit at his blunt behavior, but a compliment was a compliment, she'd take it, even from a pipsqueak. Geez kid. I'm 5'2''.. you're 5'2'' with shoes on? Have you ever heard of this miracle called milk..?

She then returned her interest, quirking an eyebrow. Oh they're hanging out this weekend.. She thought to herself excitedly. She would have jumped in glee at the invite, but she was still surrounded by people who'd judge her every move. She couldn't act a certain way until she identified the popular crowd. "Depends.. send me a Facebook request and link me the people who's coming. I'll consider it." She smiled to the two, giving a friendly wink as she made her way out of the building, "See ya around guys.. maybe. I've got to run." Honestly she was just fleeing before they detect her bad habit of lying. She had to get used to the environment before she'd settle on a group of friends. She proceeded down the hall, smiling to herself. Score. I got an invite on my first day. Please don't be the tech nerds..

She answered her ringing phone, "Gramps. I already told Nan that I was walking home. No! Do not send a driver. I'm fine, it was all over before I got here. I'm alive and well. They got fired. No. I want to get out and experience a few things on my own. I've got two legs. I need the exercise." She rolled her eyes before hanging up on him. She knew it wasn't wise, but they hadn't been on good footing for quite some time. I want to make friends.. Real friends this time.. but I keep trying to impress people on accident..

Despite starting off on bad foot, so to speak, with a new face, Jonathan picked up on the change of tone in Arietta's voice as she reintroduced herself. Taking her hand with a firm grip, Jonathan was observant enough to notice that her clothing were mostly designer-grade and stylish, that it wouldn't be difficult to assume that she was part of one ofthe upper echelons of society. After hearing the blonde state that she had changed classes as a junior, Jonathan let out a soft sigh of relief. He made a quick mental note on what she said, as it seemed a tad off from what would be normal, but he passed the thought off since he was new to the school, and he didn't exactly know what would be considered "normal."

However, even with the introductions, it would have become a slightly awkward moment of silence between them as there was a lack of conversational material that he could hook onto for a transtion to keep a good conversation flowing... until a certain blue-haired boy crashed in to save the day to make an inappropriate statement about the two.

Jonathan caught onto Kaoru's verbal jab, who had appeared out of nowhere, which had earned a slight indication of disapproval from both Jonathan and Arietta as the shorter male nudged him in the side after making the remark.

When Kaoru made a slightly nervous transition from the blunt comments (and flirtatious compliments) about Arietta's appearance to an invitation to hang out with "some girls," Jonathan's interest peaked a little. "Well, since anything should be better than being stuck in the tower all the time, I was going to check out the local malls and arcade. Does that sound like an idea that you can run with...?"

Or did you have plans on telling everybody how you have a thing for blondes?

Inside, his mind urged to jab back at the blue-haired kid for that verbal tease he made a few minutes ago, yet he held back his tongue. He might have to get him back for it though, but he set that wild thought aside when Kaoru had quickly and playfully invited the blonde haired student as well, with another nudge to Jonathan's side. "Well, you could also invite Momo and ask if she's interested in joining us," he added onto the invitation, as he didn't exactly know how many "girls" his friend had invited and it would've become quite a boring outing if they were the only ones.

With the idea of hanging out for the weekend being the current topic for the moment, Jonathan realized that it could be quite difficult to coordinate the event if none of them had each other's contact information. "Well, do either of you have a phone on you-?" With a slight effort of trying not to make it awkward for either of them, Jonathan nonchalantly asked, as it would be much easier and more efficient for him to just add his number to their phones rather than retrieving and copying his contact information on paper, however their new acquaintance had already suggested at making a network request before quickly taking off, leaving a somewhat awkward silence in their midst.

"Well, I guess that takes care of that."

By the time Arietta made it outside, the sun was almost completely out of sight. She knew she should have went home, but she was growing hungry and she really didn't want to walk all the way to her house. Maybe I should have accepted a driver after all.. it's kind of getting dark.. She left the grounds, looking up restaurants on her iPhone. She found an acceptable place, leaving the school grounds on foot.

She passed a few girls from school on the street, causing her to frown. They were giggling, talking about their crushes and homework, typical teenage gossip. She wished she had friends, but even back at her old school... she only had one true friend. Though she did write online to a girl that lived near here, she never got the girl's name. She wasn't even sure if the girl would want to become her friend in real life. If anyone got to know the real me... they'd run away. No one likes a liar... I just can't stop though... Lies are so much more interesting than the truth...

She checked the map on her phone, sighing to herself. So pathetic, I don't even have anyone to come here with. She crossed the road before taking a right turn, and then the restaurant was in sight. She saw a couple walking out, holding hands and it made her flinch a bit. She remembered a time when she was that happy.. The pain of the memory was too much, so she shook her head quickly, dismissing it as fast as possible. It was all a lie. Just like everything else in my life.. I don't miss it.

She didn't notice, but she reach the front door somewhere in her thoughts. I really need to stop spacing out... Arietta thought with a smile, I might walk out in front of a car one of these days. With that, she opened the door, walking inside. It looked rather spacious, and the furniture was about as luxurious as that of her home. Well.. I didn't mean to pick something this extravagant.. but I'm already here. I guess I'll use Grandpa's card to cover the bill..

It was about that time that a man dressed in a black suit approached, clearing his throat, "Name please?"

"Hakushiro, Arietta." She replied blankly. The man's eyes widened a bit, apparently he was familiar with her Grandfather. Lucky me.. She thought sarcastically. He quickly bowed, and was about to show her to her table when she suddenly noticed a familiar face sitting at her own table.

"I'll be right back.." She added in the man's general direction, waving him off. She then slowly approached Devone, smiling a bit before speaking, "Hey." She waved a little nervously, "My Grandfather attended a business party your father was holding. Your name is Devone right? I'm Arietta Hakushiro. I go to your school now so I thought I'd say hello."

She stared at the table for a moment, before looking to the ebony haired female sitting in front of her, "Mind a bit of company?"

She started twiddling with her fork to the side of the table, her chin rested on the back of her other hand and eyes rolling at a fellow customer or two. She liked this restaurant, she really did but the people bored her. She glanced at the elegant antique clock hanging proudly across the room to check the time. By now, Atsushi was probably chucking the hostage in the other car for special occasions such as this. It would be a while before he came back to pick her up. While she was sadistic, Devone had to skip out on some events like this to keep a low profile and it wasn't much fun to kick around a waiter she barely knew. She preferred messing with people she knew on a more personal level; Akira being one of her favorites because the girl's unstable emotions would often lead to her falling for a lot of things.

"Hey." Devone's eyes drifted to the one addressing her to be presented with a familiar face she couldn't quite place. She removed her fingers from the fork she was toying with and resumed a friendly face and smile. "Well, hello." She tilted her head slightly before straightening her posture for a more formal look than the bored one she had a moment ago as the blonde girl approached her. "My Grandfather attended a business party your father was holding. Your name is Devone right? I'm Arietta Hakushiro. I go to your school now so I thought I'd say hello." "Ah, is that so?" Devone tried hard not to break off her smile as thoughts swirled through her head. Where are all these connections dropping in from? First, the obsessive couple and now this girl? To think, I used to be the most high-class student in Airdalen.. I don't know if I can stand being outshone."Mind a bit of company?" "Not at all, not at all." Devone gestured to a seat at her table with a welcoming aura. "I really didn't expect to bump into anyone here so forgive me if my surprise came off as rude?" She crossed her legs and lifted a glass slightly off the table, letting the liquid balance from side to side as she talked. "So, you'll be attending at Airdalen you said? Congratulations!" she said before bringing the glass to her lips and taking a polite sip of her champagne. "It's quite a hard school to get into, so what made you select our high school?" Devone lowered her glass and leaned forward a tad, feigning interest. While she would much prefer talking to someone while waiting than being on her lonesome, small talk just wasn't quite her drug. If only we could cut to the chase and the fun stuff.. like the secrets, the lies, the threats and gossip that ruin lives...

"Well, hello."

Arietta's smile grew a bit as Devone replied kindly enough. The blonde was used to a lot of rudeness from her financial peers, and seeing as Devone's family was notably better off than her own, she wasn't sure how Devone would receive her. She felt instantly relieved, even though there was still the possibility that Devone's kindness was simply a front for formality's sake, the kindness was appreciated either way.

"Ah, is that so?"

Arietta nervously nodded to the dark haired female, her blue eyes scanning her for a reaction. Arietta knew that Devone would be beneficial to her social standing at the school, but she was starting to regret approaching her so quickly in the game.. The feeling that overwhelmed her.. it was unreal. She felt like she was a tuna fish approaching a shark. She straightened out her clothes nervously. She just wanted friends.. popular friends, but still friends nonetheless. She wasn't very popular at her last school, so she decided she just wanted to fit in at this one.. whatever the cost.

"Not at all, not at all. I really didn't expect to bump into anyone here so forgive me if my surprise came off as rude?"

She took a seat slowly, tilting her head a bit as Devone mentioned coming across as rude. Her big blue eyes darting as she tried to go over their conversation in her head. I don't think she was necessarily rude.. Even if she had been, I understand.. It's a dog eat dog world in our level of society.. She took a moment to carefully think on her reply, "No, no.. Of course not. You handled the situation quite gracefully. To be honest, I hadn't initially planned to visit this restaurant. Although I had to come say hello when I noticed you in the crowd. It would have been rude not to, especially after your father gave my Grandfather invaluable advice on how to handle his company."

Her grandfather of course paid for the advice, but without it, their family would have gone bankrupt. Her Grandfather wasn't always the man he was today. He started out kindhearted and was a wonderful man to be around. Though many abused his kindness. Though she was grateful her Grandfather's company survived, she misses the man he used to be. His new iron fist attitude wasn't becoming, and it hindered her from making friends at her last school. He ran away so many of her 'sketchy' friends as he put it, most of her class didn't bother with her. She shook the thought, ordering herself a drink as a waitress came by.

"So, you'll be attending at Airdalen you said? Congratulations! It's quite a hard school to get into, so what made you select our high school?"

Arietta sighed a bit, seeing as this was the only question she wished to avoid, "Well.. I had an invaluable item stolen from me.. so I ruined the culprit's life with rumors at my last school." She explained, taking a break from her explanation when the waitress returned with her drink. She took a sip before continuing her story, this time leaning in with a mischievous smile. "I left shortly after, seeing as the thief never returned the item, even after I had the person of question removed from our previous school. The thief was revealed in front of the entire school. I left as well because my grandfather advised it."

Then came the lies. She'd thought she'd been doing so well.. She wasn't proud of ruining that boy's life. Nor was her exchange of schools her Grandfather's idea.. She left because it was too painful to return after losing the only person she thought to be a true friend to her. She'd been so truthful with the rest of her conversation.. but as soon as she was nervous it wasn't exciting enough.. BAM! The lies came along like a side of ranch.

Devone only smiled slightly while observing the Hakushiro girl. As their small talk went on, it was evident that she was nervous by social cues such as the way she fussed over her clothes and her manner of speaking was quite guarded. I suppose she's a small fry. I like small fries. They aren't as annoying as others' company I've had to endure because they know their place... Devone picked up her glass while waiting for a reply to find it was empty. Had she drunk too much for one night? Uncertain, she put aside the glass and brushed her skirt down before laying her hands there to rest neatly on her lap.

"No, no.. Of course not. You handled the situation quite gracefully. To be honest, I hadn't initially planned to visit this restaurant. Although I had to come say hello when I noticed you in the crowd. It would have been rude not to, especially after your father gave my Grandfather invaluable advice on how to handle his company."

Devone reflected on those words a bit before delivering her own reply with a classic Mona Lisa smile, "Ah, I see. Well, I'm glad you did dear. It is quite embarrassing for me to be sitting here drinking champagne on my lonesome." In all honesty, Devone wasn't embarrassed. She didn't care even if it was considered embarrassing in her circle. If she felt like drinking on her own, she'd do it. It'd probably be a waste to share such good stuff with pigeons anyway. The thought did hit her to offer some to her acquaintance, but if she was assuming correctly the girl was still a minor- not that she cared for rules. She just didn't want her lack of care to be any more blatant than it had to be. Plus, there was a chance said acquaintance had probably already ordered whatever it was she was after. Maybe she would just save the leftovers for Atsushi. How generous of me.

Noting Arietta's sigh, Devone's attention returned to her.
"Well.. I had an invaluable item stolen from me.. so I ruined the culprit's life with rumors at my last school."

It made Devone almost squeal. Straight-forward and unguarded, this was too good an opportunity to abuse. Despite the girl appearing guarded at their initial introductions, such a mindless question about school taste had lead to this interesting turn of topic. She did wonder why Arietta would put it out in the open in front of her though, about starting the rumors that is. Did the small fry assume people in her class were the type into that sort of gossip and corruption, or did she know more about Devone in general than she was letting on? Otherwise, was she just being honest and aware that Devone could find out one way or another in the end anyway? Devone tried her best to not over think the possibilities. There were too many. Hopefully, all would be revealed soon enough.

Arietta changed expression to match the mood of the tale, "I left shortly after, seeing as the thief never returned the item, even after I had the person of question removed from our previous school. The thief was revealed in front of the entire school. I left as well because my grandfather advised it."

She appeared quite proud of what she had accomplished. It had been a while since Devone had encountered someone like her. Maybe they did have something in common, more so than she did with others anyway. So she's -that- type of person. This may work in my favor. She's probably expecting something out of me more so if I'm not mistaken. Please to use and abuse... Rumors. It was a small thing compared to all the endeavors Devone had pulled off and gotten away with. Hell, she had a hostage in some abandoned factory 'somewhere'. The details didn't really matter. The nitty-gritty regarding physical labor and torture was Atsushi's job. She just moved the chess pieces and directed the stage.

"I'm sorry to hear that. I've never been stolen from so I can't relate personally but it must have been dreadful. Especially as an.. invaluable item you say? Maybe a family heirloom? That's awful. I'm glad the thief responsible is paying his dues. Well done on turning him in." Devone attempted to sympathize before revealing a personality card of her own. "After all, we don't need trash like that in our society. The less of them the better." Her lips formed a more fitting expression, a defined but somewhat dignified smirk. She had meant the sentence to sound as harsh as it was. And now, your turn.

The sunlight glinted off of the hood of the white Lexus full-size sedan as Caleb approached the driver’s side. He turned on the hidden microphone in his suit jacket before he spoke. "Alpha 1 to Bravo team. We’ll be departing shortly.” moments later, a reply trickled out of the receiver in Caleb’s ear. "Copy that Alpha 1, we’ll be right on your tail.” As soon as he opened the door, a burst of steaming air hit him like a tidal wave. The bodyguard reached inside and turned the AC to full blast before opening all of the doors and windows of the car. By the time Daniel and the others arrived, the sedan was already at a manageable temperature.

"My apologies for the rather...humble car. Fortunately, I’ll be upgrading once we are better settled in.” With that the boy climbed into the back seat along with Bishop, leaving the front seat for the girl (Keiko). Bishop had suggested earlier a rather expensive restaurant not far from the school. So the five were off in no time, with a black SUV trailing behind.

After a few minutes, while pulling into the restaurant's parking lot, the Lexus’ rather striking figure on the road looked quite modest indeed amidst many similar and higher class cars. The group piled out and Caleb was allowed a moment to walk out of ears reach of his companions. "Alpha team, this is Alpha 1. We have arrived at our destination.” The piece in his ear delivered a reply.

"Copy, the area’s clear.” The bodyguard beckoned the teens into the building, but as the group was being led to their seats, Daniel spotted a face he seemed to recognize (Devone). "Devone Kim, that was her name!” He had heard quite a bit about her at school, mostly from conversations in the hallway. Quite the hot topic. She was sitting with another girl (Arietta), and the two were engaged in conversation. "It might be a good idea to become associated with the two…” the young aristocrat thought. "After all, getting to know Devone could really give me a boost up that social ladder.”

Daniel moved towards the two ladies. "Devone Kim I presume?” he extended his hand. "Daniel Trist, a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” Daniel said with a smile.

"I'm sorry to hear that. I've never been stolen from so I can't relate personally but it must have been dreadful. Especially as an.. invaluable item you say? Maybe a family heirloom? That's awful. I'm glad the thief responsible is paying his dues. Well done on turning him in."

Arietta's eyes softened a bit as she took another sip of her drink. She's nice enough.. Arietta thought with an optimistic attitude... of course her definition of nice probably was warped compared to certain Airdalen students. She nodded at Devone's guess as to what the item was.

"It was a custom made piece of jewelry.." She explained, "It was gift from my father to my mother. A butterfly hair clip made from sapphires." Arietta used her hands to show the size of the accessory, though she wasn't sure just how interested Devone was in her story. She decided to keep everything short and sweet, "It was a bit heavy, but it was all I had of my parent's. They both died a long time ago."

"After all, we don't need trash like that in our society. The less of them the better."

Arietta chuckled a bit, closing her eyes. He isn't.. Then she opened them, twirling her finger along her glass absentmindedly, "But of course. Thieves are the worst kind of bottom feeder. I'm glad that we see eye to eye on that." She mused. There you go again.. She thought to herself. Though she didn't feel too horrible. It wasn't like she'd given any names. Besides, it seemed Devone and her were hitting it off once she told the story about her transfer.

She was about to order herself something to eat, but her thoughts were interrupted as a young man (Daniel) approached them. He left a table with another blonde (Bishop) and a rather pretty brunette (Keiko) who seemed to be working on their own order. The boy that approached held a different air about him than the other two, he was from the hierarchy while the other two seemed to be somewhere toward the middle of the financial ladder. She picked up her glass, blue eyes scanning the blonde as he spoke to Devone, sizing him up. Just who are you..? Arietta's eyes never left him once, not until he was done speaking.

"Devone Kim I presume? Daniel Trist, a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”

She smiled a bit, looking over to Devone, "My, you're quite the celebrity." She giggled, then looked to Daniel. Do we have the same intentions? Or are you only after her status? The blonde knew she was 'using' Devone to improve her own popularity. Though even after Arietta gained her own recognition, she wouldn't drop Devone like a hot potato. She actually was enjoying herself once she got past her nerves. She was also looking for friendship. Is it really horrible to want your friends to also have usefulness? Her eyes flipped back to Daniel as she thought of it. Would you make a useful friend as well?

Devone routinely nodded along with Arietta's description of her stolen item but it was only when she spoke the word, 'mother' that Devone really started paying proper attention. "It was a gift from my father to my mother. A butterfly hair clip made from sapphires." She wore a mirthless smile as her acquaintance's hands parted from each other to describe the size. The conversation was making Devone reminisce her own mother. Unlike Arietta, it hadn't occurred to her to possess anything of sentimental value. That kind of show of affection wasn't practiced in her family."It was a bit heavy, but it was all I had of my parent's. They both died a long time ago."A part of Devone wanted to divulge her own mother's passing, but she thought against it. She had only just met this girl and doing so wouldn't necessarily be a risk worth taking. It would allow her to show that she could relate to her, but that was all it was. Relating to someone on a personal level in the business world wasn't enough. It always required more. Instead all she said was, "I understand. I hope it is located soon. I, for one will keep my eye out for it." accompanied by a reassuring, warm smile that she didn't do often.

After her harshness regarding the thief, that was when Devone's 'truer self' if one could call it that became active again. "But of course. Thieves are the worst kind of bottom feeder. I'm glad that we see eye to eye on that." So, the girl agrees and plays along. Devone was a little suspicious. Not because of anything Arietta did in particular, just because she didn't expect someone to be as open as she was about things like that. Unless of course, the girl was equally as egotistical and stable in her ventures. Then again, there was always a chance the blonde was just agreeing to get along and gain something out of it rather than actual, proper, valid agreement to what Devone was saying. Maybe she was just going to agree to anything Devone said? She personally hoped that wasn't the case. It wouldn't be interesting...

"Devone Kim I presume? Daniel Trist, a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” Devone turned her attention away from Arietta for a moment to see who had addressed her. It was another blonde, but a male one. Definitely a mixed breed but she could never be sure what corner of the earth he came from. It wasn't that obvious. It felt like his accent was a bit of everything. As surprised as she was to be approached by someone the second time tonight, she didn't show it and proceeded with the formalities. Accepting his outstretched hand, she shook it. "Charmed." She replied with a well rehearsed polite smile for just the occasion. She didn't recognize him personally but the surname 'Trist' rung a bell and he was dressed and well-mannered for the part of her high class world. She had a feeling he may be positioned even higher in power than that. A good thing as fate would have it that Atsushi had not returned for her yet. It definitely wasn't part of the plan for her to be mingling with people but it was something worth doing in general. Connections are always good, even the small ones. Some of them are clever enough to rise above you in time and when they do, they will still remember you. In essence, you stay on your toes and higher. It was even more surprising that her dad's lecturing words entered her mind. It was an extremely rare occurrence for her, especially now that she had lost most if not all respect for him.
"My, you're quite the celebrity." Her female acquaintance giggled to which Devone responded with a restricted feminine chuckle to feign modesty or shyness. "Ahah... just for tonight. I swear it isn't always like this for me."

She returned her attention back to Daniel and gestured over at her acquaintance across the table. "Daniel, please meet a friend of mine. This is Hakushiro, Arietta." She introduced before returning both her hands to their rightful position on her lap of crossed legs. It feels like a social party and I'm a bit rusty... my cheeks might ache after all these pleasantries. Despite her inner whining, they were kept under lock and key in the depths of her thoughts not to be seen on the outside. "Care to enlighten us Daniel, are you a visitor to Japan?" she queried, having to go back to initiating the small talk before anything else. Her eyes casually drifted behind him to notice familiar faces; Bishop undeniably and another girl (Keiko) she had recalled more from seeing her in the man-eating nightmare that haunted her in the bathroom but it didn't phase her. What phased her was... what are those two doing here? She managed to keep her confusion hidden under the cool, calm and collected guise.

"My, you're quite the celebrity." the blonde girl(Arietta) said with a smile.

"Ahah... just for tonight. I swear it isn't always like this for me." Devone replied. "Daniel, please meet a friend of mine. This is Hakushiro, Arietta." she said turning to him.

"Oh, hello Miss. Pleased to meet you." the boy gave a slight bow of the head. "Girl seems nice enough..." Daniel thought. "Looks smart however, calculative. Devone on the other hand...she screams BUSINESS."

"Care to enlighten us Daniel, are you a visitor to Japan?" Daniel sort of cocked his head to this. His Japanese wasn't as developed as he wished, and to his embarrassment, the blonde didn't entirely understand the question.

"Um..." the junior said, lowering his voice. "Come again?" Daniel could feel himself panic a bit. "What do i do? It's not like hearing the question again is going to let me understand it!" Luckily for him, Caleb butted in just in time.

"She was asking what you're doing here." the man said in English. Switching to Japanese, he turned towards the two girls. "Mr. Trist doesn't understand Japanese too well at the moment. It would be a big help in communication if one of you knew English." turning back to Daniel, the bodyguard gave a closing statement in English. "I'll leave you three to yourselves now." With that, Caleb went ahead on his way to sit with the other two kids.

"Alpha 1? This is Bravo team, requesting whereabouts and status of Overlord. Over. Caleb's receiver chimed.
"Whereabouts, 1 o-clock me. About 3 yards away. Status, engaged in conversation with 2 girls, about the same age. One blonde Caucasian, and an Asian."
"Spotted" Just then, another voice blessed his ear.
"This is Alpha team reporting potential danger. Asian female identified as Devone Kim is almost always seen with her personal bodyguard, Atsushi Mahiro. However, his whereabouts are unaccounted for at the moment."
"Keep your eyes peeled boys. Stay on your toes." Caleb glued his eyes on Devone, the name Kim rang a bell. But he couldn't quite grasp it.

After Caleb left the premises, Daniel turned back to the two girls. Forming the answer to Devone's question slowly and with pauses, he said. "Ah...well, I guess you could say I'm visiting. But I'm staying for a while...I think." He didn't want to reveal to much information just yet. After all, he barely knew the two.

Bishop Trander

Bishop followed his host Daniel to the rather nice car, glancing to his side to see Keiko holding onto him. When they got in, he blinked seeing her (Keiko) be sat at the front and frowned a little bit, wanting her to join the two of them. "Humble? This car is nice! This leather is really cool." Bishop smiled rubbing the seat he was in, and looked around the interior of the car. His attitude about the whole experience spoke olumes on how different the upbringings were between Bishop and his cousin Daniel. He kept looking up to Keiko trying to figure out how to try and talk to the girl, but he couldn't think of anything.

When they arrived at the restaurant he smiled smelling the amazing food from the outside and looked around. The junior was completely oblivious to the happenings and security going about due to all the of the prestigious persons by this establishment. When Keiko clung to his right arm, he smiled and laughed a little beginning to walk. "Hungry?" Bishop asked the girl with his accented Japanese. They stepped inside and were seated immediately, he looked over the menu noticing that Daniel left to go to tlak to his former pen-pal Devone. He perked up seeing her slightly, but was curious about who the girl she was sitting with (Arieta). He noticed that she was another blonde like him and his cousin which was interesting. <Wow, I guess Japan is a lot more diverse than I originally thought.> "Keiko wonders if Daniel is going to eat with them instead of us." Bishop blinked turning to his curious friend (Keiko) and patted her back. "I'm sure he has a reason to talk to them... Now how about we decide what to eat?" He looked to the menu and saw a lot of delicious options but his face grimaced seeing the price on some of the items. "Oh... Wow." He looked to Keiko again and got an idea. "I- don't know about you but this is a little expensive... You wanna share a meal? It could be fun. Maybe eat something we both haven't had before."

Depending on what him and Keiko decided the two would definitely eat, and quite well. Bishop would ensure that Keiko got home safely then would be taken home himself by either Daniel or had his parents come pick him up. Bishop would give Daniel his phone number as well as Keiko for them to all stay in touch. Later that night he had his bags packed and was moved to his grandmother's house to allow his parents some alone time..... for stuff. He didn't know, and he kinda didn't want to know honestly.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Saturday

Bishop woke up at an early time in the day to get himself ready for Varther's funeral. He sighed not in a really great mood today, but was sure to wear nice formal close, a black suit and tie with a white shirt. His grandmother- being old fashioned- nagged that he do certain things but Bishop dind't know Varther very well or his family. He couldn't say if they were going to have a 'traditional' buddhist Japanese funeral. But he had his condolence envelope, flowers and incense for the wake and funeral. He ate breakfast quietly, glancing at his phone but wasn't expecting anyone to call or text.

After breakfast he got into his aunt Musubi's small car and began to drive towards the funeral. He was quiet during the trip, except when he looked out the window and saw a pink haired girl he recognize (Momo). "Aunt Musubi, could you pull over? I know that girl." She pulled up to the bus stop, and Bishop rolled down the window peaking out. "Hey! Momo, are you going to Varther's funeral?" He asked, happy to see her but was sure not to sound too chipper about going to a funeral. Especially the one of their classmates. After her answer, he would extend the offer of giving her a lift to the location.

Arietta woke up bright and early, rubbing her eyes with a yawn. She remembered calling her grandfather to pick her up, but wasn't so sure how she got to her bed. The last thing she recalled was falling asleep in the back seat of his driver's car. She sat up, letting her feet dangle off the bed as she stretched. A loud yawn came from the blonde as she groggily reach for her phone, "Oh..look... One friend request from Kaoru..." she added him, and quickly looked up Jonathan, adding him as well. She didn't bother to look at their pages yet.. She felt icky and definitely wanted to shower before she officially started her day. She grabbed a change of clothes, before making her way to the bathroom. She intercepted her grandfather, rushing inside and locking the door behind her. She heard him cursing her from the other side of the door, but she just continued her routine. It took an hour, but she eventually released the bathroom to her fuming grandfather, a giggle escaping her lips as he continued to speak foul towards her until he'd shut the door on her. (Just on Arietta's face claim of course.. Couldn't find an outfit Sena wore that would be funeral appropriate.)

Glad to see Gramps is already in a good mood. She thought to herself sarcastically. Grabbing her phone, Arietta locked her bedroom door, going to the living room and giving her Nana a kiss on the cheek. The energetic woman smiled to Arietta, and looked over her attire, "Where are you going..?" She asked concerned. Arietta smiled a bit, looking down to the floor. Her Nana handed her a cup of coffee, finally guessing the answer based on the look of her granddaughter's face, "Are you going to that boy's funeral..? You didn't even know him Ari-chan.." She put her hand on the blonde's shoulder, smiling gently.

"Still, it would be wrong to ignore it. We're not the richest family in the area, but for me to attend Airdalen and not show my respects to the Laurence family.. It would be rude and reflect badly on the family as a whole.." She never felt comfortable at funerals.. She never got to meet her parents, so she was almost terrified of loss.. her own, or otherwise. Though her Nana gave her a big hug, handing her a decent amount of money, "Here. Buy the family something nice."

She smiled a bit, though she really wished that her Nana would have left paying up to her.. She took a long drink from her coffee before sitting it down, "I'm also going to the Arcade later, but I have my own money for that." She smiled. Her Nana's eyes brightened up, "You've already made some friends?" her mood became almost overly chipper as she leaned in towards Arietta, as if she were in high school herself, "Have you met any boys??" She asked with a huge grin on her face, asking quietly as to not alert Mr. Hakushiro.

Arietta frowned a bit, her mind going back to the four guys she'd met the day before.. First she was reacquainted with Raiden.. then she bumped into Jonathan and met that inappropriate kid Kaoru... and finally Daniel.. She wasn't particularly fond of any of them, but maybe it was because of the incident.. She just didn't feel ready to give someone a chance after what happened.. She didn't put her life on hold.. but she wasn't looking at anyone as a potential boyfriend candidate..

"I made some friends... but nothing more than that I assure you, Nana." She smiled, checking her phone, "OH! I gotta go. I still have to buy flowers and get directions. I'll call a driver once I pick up the flowers and know where I'm going." With that she chugged her coffee and was out ther door like a yellow flash of lightning. She decided to not actually buy flowers, instead she went to a card shop. The boy died from an allergy to flowers.. They are probably the last thing his parents wanted to see..

She put the money in the card after writing a personal apology. She didn't know their son, but she felt it was her duty to the Hakushiro family to attend. She then messaged Jonathan and Kaoru, "Hey, I don't know where the funeral is... directions..?? I can also arrange a car pool if you want to go as well.."

Yesterday

"Well" Daniel said to the girls (Devone and Ariettta). "Meeting the two of you was the highlight of my day, but I'm sure you have many a topic to discuss privately." The boy began to turn away. "Oh yes...and if you ever decide to for whatever reason..." He flicked two cards with his phone number on the table. "Please feel free to contact me."

With that, the Junior walked over to sit with his own group (Bishop and Keiko). The meal was good, nothing short of what the price stated. He had Caleb take care of the group's bill before having him drive Bishop and Keiko home. Daniel provided his companions with cards as well, before saying farewell.

Today

The next morning, the blonde awoke from the sound of a rapping on the wall of his room. "Hello sir, are you awake?" It was undoubtably Caleb's voice.

"I am now." Daniel replied groggily. He sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "What time is it?" The boy asked.

"Right around 7 am sir. You know it's a good practice to awake at regular times."

"Yes, yes. Of course. I understand." Daniel climbed out of bed and dressed himself rather informaly. (A black T-shirt with khaki slacks, and a red blazer) He wasn't going anywhere in particular today, so he refrained from anything more formal. The two then strolled out the door, and into their car.

"Same place? Or are you feeling adventurous?"

"Same." The aristocrat looked out the window, watching as the buildings and padestrians zoomed by. Then, an idea hit him. "Maybe Bishop would like to kill some time together. After all, it's quite lonely to be a murderer without an accomplice." The boy pulled the phone from his pocket and tapped the icon with Bishop's name on it. "And from the way he's been eyeing these seats, I'm sure he wouldn't be dissapointed by the car we'll be taking." Smiling at the thought, he put the phone to his ear.

Kaoru sat his phone down next to his plate as he ate breakfast with Kyoko. It was rare for them to get this meal together so he decided to enjoy it. Usually their busy schedules took this luxury from them. He swallowed his last bite when his phone started buzzing. He glanced over, but it was just Arietta accepting his friend request. He smiled to Kyoko, but it was weak. One look outside reminded him that today was Varthur's funeral. The clouds and the upset winds.. It was the perfect reaction to yesterday's events. Even nature was against his untimely death. Kaoru eventually sighed as he grew depressed, remembering he'd have to rent another suit.. The second one within a year's time. He pushed his plate away from him as he listened to Kyoko talk about her college classes and her exams, though he was only half paying attention. How was he supposed to concentrate when a boy he knew died before he even got to finish high school? It just wasn't fair..

He stood, putting his plate in the sink before waving to Kyoko. She however quickly grabbed the boy's wrist before it was too late. The brunette put a few bills in his hand before letting go, "Did you forget, Kao-chan? I told you I'd give you some money to buy the family some flowers." She shook her head, "You're so air headed." She teased him, waving him off.

"See you later, Kyo-chan." He waved goodbye one last time before leaving the house, walking down the street to a flower shop, which he missed Ryou and Mai at by about an hour, tops. He quickly bought two white bouquets and made his way to the nearest rental store. He grabbed the same suit he wore to his Grandmother's funeral and tried it on, scoffing as he realized it still fit him perfectly. He threw some of his own cash down this time at the girl working there before walking out of there as well.

-Buzz- ... -Buzz- ... -Buzz-

"Okay, sounds coo00ool. I'm making my way to Varthur's funeral atm... :("

Kaoru read the message shortly after pulling his vibrating phone from his suit pocket. The message was sent a long time ago, perhaps shortly after he'd messaged her, but his 3G just registered the message. He quickly unlocked his phone, responding quickly. So she's going too? At least I'll know someone there... He thought disconsolately to himself. Despite the comfort of knowing he wouldn't be among strangers should have been, nothing seemed to shake his mood once he caught a glimpse of his reflection.

"Glad to have you on board. I'm headed there too.. My cousin insisted I buy flowers, but I don't find the gift appropriate.. ._. See you there."

-Buzz- ... -Buzz- ... -Buzz-

"Hey, I don't know where the funeral is... directions..?? I can also arrange a car pool if you want to go as well.."

Kaoru's blue eyes blinked at the message. He'd seen Varthur walk home before, so he knew where he lived, but he wasn't sure how to explain it to Arietta. He then noticed it was a group chat. Jonathan was in the chat too, so he just messaged back, "I'll explain the directions. Are all three of us going?" He asked, not bothering to flirt with her when given the chance. In all honesty he didn't really feel like smiling at all.. let alone putting the moves on anyone. He wasn't even sure if he'd be able to shake his sadness by the time he got to the arcade. He hoped he could, for the sake of the evening everyone planned. His blue hair waved gently in the wind as he awaited an answer... from any of the three really. messaging Momo, and having a group chat with Jonathan and Arietta was a bit confusing, especially since he dreaded today's first event. He really didn't want to see Varthur in a coffin. He'd seen far too many people he cared about in those god forsaken decorative boxes.

"I'll explain the directions. Are all three of us going?"

She quickly texted back, asking Kaoru for his location due to Jonathan mentioning he had his own way to the funeral. (OOC: Best thing I could come up with to excuse him from the conversation.)

While she waited for Kaoru's reply, Arietta proceeded in calling her family's driver, whom she wasn't quite fond of. He was never inappropriate with her, in fact it was quite the opposite, which is why she couldn't stand him. Despite her attempts since childhood, he's never once called her by her name. Hiroshi was far too formal with her, and saw through every bit of her deceit. Perhaps because he was always there to pick her up at her worst, or maybe it was because he served the family since before she was born, but everything about him irked her. She was the only one he was so professional around, other than her grandfather, and it bothered her to the point that she almost hated him.

When Hiroshi arrived, Arietta gave a weak smile before opening her own door as quickly as possible. She crawled inside and shut the door behind her, before Hiroshi had the chance to even remove his seat belt which earned her a frown from the blonde american. She rolled her eyes, reading Kaoru's next text with a sigh, "He's outside of a shop called 'Suit & Tie'.." She stated flatly, ushering for Hiroshi to drive off. He smirked, rolling the window down because Mr. Hakushiro hated smoking. It was the only taboo trait he revealed to Arietta, and a dangerous one at that. If she were to slip and tell her grandfather, Hiroshi would surely be fired. Why the little liar hadn't was beyond even her own understanding. She'd be rid of him within the blink of an eye, but for some reason it never crossed her lips.

It didn't take long for them to arrive outside the shop, and since she found a comfortable position against the window opposite of the door facing Kaoru, she allowed Hiroshi to do his job, and the blonde opened the door for the blue haired child, "How old are you kid? Are you even old enough to be in high school?" Hiroshi asked with a loud laugh and cocky grin, his American accent seeping through. Kaoru frowned at this and got up from the spot he was resting at, entering the car while muttering a few choice words. Of course they were incoherent, but still his anger was almost palpable.

Arietta smiled a bit, before running a hand through her hair, staring out the left side window in the back seat, "I know it is awkward, but please try to relax.. I'm not interested in you in the slightest... Kaoru." She sighed whimsically, "Also, don't mind Hiroshi. He's quite rude." She informed him, letting out a pleasant smile. Though this behavior was exhausting. The bubbly nature, her carefree attitude, none of it was truly the real Arietta. In fact, she'd been pretending so long, she was certain that she'd forgotten the girl who she truly used to be. By now she couldn't remember a time where lies didn't dominate her life.

...It's true that around that boy she didn't feel the need to tell her lies, but even so during school she still kept her safeguard of tales. She couldn't break the habit entirely, not even for him. Besides, he turned out to be like everyone else. He was using her, he stole that irreplaceable object, the last thing she had of her mother's. It was unforgivable and she'd never trust someone that way ever again. Even if she had to build her invisible social barriers a mile high... a thousand miles... she would never allow herself to be hurt that way, ever again.

"So were you close..? You and the Laurence boy?" She asked, handing the note Kaoru handed her to Hiroshi. The man read it for a moment, about to reply before Arietta interrupted him, refusing him another chance to speak freely, "The directions are all there Hiroshi. That will be all.."

She didn't speak again for the entire trip, and for some reason neither did Kaoru. Perhaps her cheerful behavior was out of place. I guess he was close to Varthur.. I bet my question was pretty invasive and insensitive.. but if I apologize now I might end up making things worse..

"My parents died before I was even a month old. They both were murdered in our house. It was pretty gruesome actually. I'm not good with funerals, so please excuse me if I've offended you." It was mostly true, but their cause of death was a lie. No one ever revealed how her parents met their untimely end. She just wanted to make Kaoru feel more awkward than she did, perhaps then he'd accept her apology. Just as she put Kaoru in the odd spot that her lie brought about, Hiroshi suddenly swerved, but thankfully it was right outside Varthur's house. His eyes lingered on Arietta through the rear-view mirror, glaring at the blonde. He knew the truth, he knew she was lying for her own benefit, but it wasn't his place to speak up about it.

"We're here. I'm sorry for your loss, Mr. Inoue." he spoke in a sharp tone, obviously irritated by something.

pcolor=#00BFFF]"Ready? Or do you need a moment to compose yourself?"[/color] She inquired as Hiroshi opened the door to her side of the car. She stepped out, adjusting her dress before staring at Varthur's home. The decorations gave it away, along with the crowd of people, "Sugoi.. Your friend was definitely living on the finer side of Japan's economy...." She breathed out before placing her phone in Hiroshi's hands, "It's too rude for me to carry that around inside. Wait outside for us, right here, Hiroshi." she demanded, before walking over to the sidewalk as Hiroshi opened Kaoru's door. She could tell from the look in Kaoru's uncertain eyes that this would be a long day.

"How old are you kid? Are you even old enough to be in high school?"

"Sixteen. What is your IQ, sir? Are you even smart enough to drive a car?" He shot back before sliding into the car beside Arietta, remaining silent until the blonde chose to unfortunately try to hold conversation with him. He closed his eyes to avoid offending her, but it was almost impossible due to her arrogance and ignorance towards his feelings.

"I know it is awkward, but please try to relax.. I'm not interested in you in the slightest... Kaoru. Also, don't mind Hiroshi. He's quite rude."

He twitched at this and instantly regretted getting in the car with her. How was Jonathan holding a conversation with such a conceited and naive girl? "I wasn't worried about that in the slightest. If you forgot, we're headed to a funeral. I've met ruder people in my life, I assure you.." He was referring to her, but attempted to keep it subtle..

"So were you close..? You and the Laurence boy?"

"We were friends. It wasn't a very long friendship, but we seemed to click rather fast. At least I hope he saw me in the same light as I saw him.." Kaoru responded in a damaged tone. He wanted to cry, but not in front of a girl like Arietta. He wouldn't give her the satisfaction of seeing him for what he was at the moment; a broken man.

My parents died before I was even a month old. They both were murdered in our house. It was pretty gruesome actually. I'm not good with funerals, so please excuse me if I've offended you."

"My mother and father died when I was eight, and my Grandmother died last winter." Kaoru responded, not really affected by her story. It wasn't much different than her own, other than the fact she still had family to run to, wealthy family at that. He didn't exactly accept the apology or decline it, mostly because he felt she was trying to manipulate him somehow and it enraged him. Does she play with people everywhere she goes? I'm not a doll and she can't use her sad story to coax me into treating her nice.

"We're here. I'm sorry for your loss, Mr. Inoue."

"Are you truly? Regardless, thank's for the ride, Hiroshi." He responded in a flat tone, his blue eyes staring into the sunglasses the blonde driver wore. He really didn't feel like putting up with either of the car's other occupants right now.

"Ready? Or do you need a moment to compose yourself?"

"I think I'll manage just fine." He replied in an exhausted tone. She didn't know Varthur so she wasn't in the same mood as everyone else and he honestly found it annoying. He only agreed to ride with her because it was a long walk from the store he was at... Honestly he would have took a taxi if he knew how horrible the car ride was going to be.

"Sugoi.. Your friend was definitely living on the finer side of Japan's economy...."

"That's a little insensitive don't you think, Arietta?" His voice was irritated and it was easy to tell he was growing tired of the blonde girl's antics. Everything about her was beginning to piss him off and he typically enjoyed the company of all girls. Something about this one made him want to break his hand punching one of the nearby walls. He didn't believe in hitting women, but if anyone deserved it, it was girls like Arietta. She was really pushing his patience.

"It's too rude for me to carry that around inside. Wait outside for us, right here, Hiroshi."

"How considerate of you.." Kaoru responded in a sarcastic tone, ready to escape the blonde. He would find his own way home, he wasn't about to get back in that car with her. Not in a million years. Kaoru mumbled curses under his breath, rolling his eyes that some people were more concerned with the rich woman that passed by rather than the fact that this was Varthur's funeral. He didn't blame the girl, but he found it pretty lame of the guests to be crowding another guest instead of offering the family their condolences. He went inside, somehow making it there before the white haired woman (Cassiopeia). He recognized the family immediately and offered the envelope of condolence money he'd brought not to Varthur's father, but to his younger brother who was sobbing uncontrollably. He then stood upright and handed the flowers to Mr. Laurence.

I knew your brother, and I'm sorry for your loss, Chibi-chan... I'll never forget him, and if you ever need someone to talk to about the loss, you can contact me on Facebook... I lost both of my parents and my grandmother... I understand what you're going through."

He bowed in respect and proceeded through the house, looking for Momo. He needed to be around anyone familiar, anyone other than the blonde he arrived with. Where are you....?

Arietta was stumbling through the crowd of people. Kaoru was the only one she knew here so far, and he abandoned her. She sighed a bit, and saw a familiar face ahead of her. She tried to squeeze through as politely as possible, but was surprisingly shoved forward at Jonathan by an overweight man, "Move it girly! I have business with Mr. Laurence." by the time the words registered through her ears, she had already fell into Jonathan, sending them both crashing against the concrete. She hit her head as well, seeing as only half of her landed against him.

Ow... She thought to herself, feeling distorted and strange. As she came back into consciousness, she was a bit startled. Even after her vision cleared up, her hand looked huge. Not to mention she couldn't feel her long blond hair against her back. Also she could have swore she was wearing a dress, not a pair of pants. Then she looked up. Why....am I looking at myself..? She couldn't help but wonder if she was still unconscious. She picked 'Arietta' up, putting her on her feet and tilted her head, "Are you alright?" She asked, but eyes widened as she realized the voice was masculine. She brought her fingers up to her hair and realized that it was soft, but definitely not her own. It was a boy's hairstyle. Instantly she realized what was going on. I'm Jonathan?! How did this happen?! I have to be dreaming. She touched her chest next, realizing it was flat, much different from her own. Oh hell no... She was internally panicking, how was she supposed to pass as a male? Everything would be different! Walking, Using the bathroom. No way in HELL she was going to go to a public men's restroom. H-how indecent! She thought as she began to pace.

"Jonathan..?" she questioned with uncertainty, "How did this happen? Is this real..? I HAVE to be dreaming... I cannot be YOU. Being a guy, how can you stand it... it feels so weird!" She was messing up her hair, almost hyperventilating from shock. If she paced any faster she would probably dig a hole in the ground. This was not how she planned to become popular. She wanted to be a popular GIRL. She did not want to rise to the top as a guy. What would her grandfather do once he realized that his granddaughter wasn't his granddaughter? No way Jonathan would be able to pass as her. Wait... this is a dream, remember? Calm down... Calm down..

"Pinch me so I can wake up. Now." she demanded, instantly stopping in front of her real body, still freaking out, but hoped she finally found a solution. Her breathing was erratic and her face was flushed in an irritated fashion, or well... 'his' now considering that she was currently in Jonathan's body instead of her own. Identifying as a male was definitely.. awkward. She.....He? REALLY wanted to switch back before nature decided to give her....er...him... an unwelcome call.
