"People like you make me sick, ya know that? She's right, you SHOULD be setting a good example for juniors! Your acting like a freaking MENTAL patient! It's clear your in love with Silas, and only idiots wouldn't see it by the way your screaming at her!" The girl she had just gotten introduced to named Miami started defending her. She was left speechless with a bit of joy at how nice people were being. In her previous school no one would defend her, at Airdalen she was never alone. It was quite a revelation though when Miami compared Akira to a murderer and walked right up to her,
"Your spreading FALSE rumors about my friend! And I don't take kindly to that. He didn't know you were a girl, so maybe you should eaither get bigger freakin' boobs or the GIRL'S uniform!" Uh.. she thought, thinking that was kind of true, that Akira should get a girlâs uniform to avoid less confusion but that the âboobsâ comment was unnecessary so it took her a bit off guard at the very mention being a conservative person. When Miami was done, Momo was still frozen in place overwhelmed by everything. If Miami hadnât taken her hand gently and ushered her to return to her seat, she probably would have stood there for a while immovable. Back in her seat, she was still stiff. Things still didnât feel alright and sorted out yet.
"Oi, do you have a phone number guys so we can swap numbers?" Huh..? Momo glanced back, Miami had her cellphone out and ready. It seemed her new friend could calm down fast but Momo couldnât. At least not yet.
"Yeah, well, I know I'm not perfect. I'm far from it. the senior continued and Momo could only do so much as to bear it.
Thatâs just an excuse.. Nobody is perfect but that doesnât mean everyone has the right to be mean and humiliate people particularly ones they donât know. "She is full of it... We know that..." she caught Sera mutter to Bishop and it was then that she saw how distressed he was. âIâm sorry Bishop.. I was just trying to clear your name as well..â she apologised genuinely.
"As for Maya, did you even hear about her after school activities? You claim to hate bullies? I'll gladly TELL you once we're off the bus, your mafia friend is worse than anyone on this bus." Mafia⊠what? Momo thought confused, looking back where Akira was standing.
"I'm sure Sera is just trying to protect your feelings, and I will give her my admiration for that, it's really nice of her. I know I just flew off the handle, but you are right, you don't know me. You don't have what I have had to watch and put up with in the last three days, so before you call me childish and a bad example, when we get to the beach, let's take a nice walk. The senior smiled but it was one of someone who was amused.
None of this should be amusing unless one is sadistic and whatever you put up with? Everyone has problems. Donât use the pity card. she continued lecturing in her head. She had already said her piece in defence so she kept her thoughts to herself. If she continued rebutting, it would just look like she was trying to be smarter and impress people when really, she was just trying to stand up for herself, her friends and what she thought was right.
"You can explain yourself and I'll explain myself, without violence, I promise. Otherwise I don't see the two of us having a pleasant relationship this year." You make it sound like Iâm the one who isnât up for talking.. Akira started walking down towards them to shove a phone in her face with a picture of Silas leashed.
Etto.. Momo didnât really get what the picture was about thinking the mafia term was an exaggeration of sorts. Was it Maya Cosplay? A collar didnât sound all that comfortable though.. she really had taken it far.
"That's why, if you really wanted to know why I am so protective of my friends, now you've got it.." Momo just looked at her as she sighed and pocketed her phone.
"I thought you were a calm nice girl. The reason I blew up on you just now... you reminded me exactly of the only two people I hate more than anything in this entire world. If you're not actually like those two girls, I apologize. We'll have to prove each other's impressions of each other wrong at the beach I suppose. By the way, you look nice today, you look better when you're feminine and sweet though. That look suits you best." Momo only blinked a few times, not quite understanding what was going on.
I remind her of people she hates.. Maya is one, thereâs another⊠then she compliments me oddly. Iâd still be feminine and sweet if I wasnât yelled at in front of everyone and called a cotton candy poodle in the first place. A cross mark of irritation appeared on her head as the comment still wasnât apologised for yet.
So my hair is pink.. is that bad?. she thought, not even considering dying it. She was normally one to experience self-esteem issues about her looks but she liked her hair, and it was her natural hair colour so it always made her feel a bit more connected with her birth parents. Maybe her mum had pink hair and she resembled her.. would be funny if her dad was the one with pink hair. She didnât have information on them as people so all she had was her DNA and the outlook of that DNA which happened to be pink hair. It seemed that it was over as Akira left but Kei stood up obviously angry about what had happened. She looked away from him, knowing she had practically gotten on the bad side of his crush. She really didnât expect him to have her back which stung a little.
"What in the hell is wrong with all of you? I was under the impression that we were supposed to come with light hearts and have some fun but apparently I am wrong. Momo, thanks for stepping in but it is my other shoulder that is hurt so don't worry." Kei smiled at her and she looked back at him with shock.
Is this.. really happening? Momo bit her lip, looking away. Kei turned to say a few words to Miami.
"I don't know you that well but seriously, that was just uncalled for, think before you threaten..." Momo covered her face with one hand.
And what the hell Akira? I mean I like you, you're usually pretty cool but this side of you is sort of nasty. First off she was just moving his head, why would you make such a big deal about it, do you really expect people to believe you thought Momo was being violent? Secondly I am the one who hit Varthur, how dare you accuse Momo of doing such a thing... That isn't even the worst of it though, you have attacked several people just because of such a small incident, calling Momo a bully, saying nasty stuff about Sera, and then attacking Maya when she isn't even around to defend herself, not to mention embarrassing Varthur. It is like you are trying to make everyone on the bus feel like crap and all for what, because another girl touched Silas?â Momo stayed silent in her seat, she agreed with Kei and appreciated what he was doing but knew it wasnât something he really wanted to do. That he just felt compelled to in the spur of the moment.
What hurts the most is.. youâre going to regret standing up for me arenât you? "How about this, I will just move, that way nobody has a reason to touch him..." he finished.
"Ah.. Sorry. I didn't know.." Silas apologised which Momo thought was a good thing for a moment. She had used a bit of bias when addressing him but it wasnât like she was yelling or starting a fight as Akira had said. She actually kind of used her bias as a diversion to the reason of why she was moving his head, unsure if Keiâs injury was a big secret. Besides, if she had asked nicely she knew Silas would not have paid any attention or taken her words seriously or to heart. He probably would have cozied up on Kei more thinking it was jealousy so thatâs why she acted the way she did. Or at least thatâs what turned out to be the answer to âwhyâ the more she thought it over.
Kei left, grabbing his belongings and sat at the front near where the teachers would be sitting.
I really.. she continued hiding her face in her hand.
I really thought⊠Momo was surrounded by people, nice people like Kei, Sera, Bishop and Miami and she was thankful to have them as friends. Sadly, having friends meant taking sides from what she had seen Akira demonstrate. The girl might not have known it.. but when it came to defending friends they were very much alike.
"What are you all looking at? Mind your own business." she heard Silas scorn the other students before turning in his seat. Her blue eyes looked on from underneath her hand as Silasâ blue eyes made contact with hers.
"You've got a problem with me?" He leaned slightly closer but Momo said nothing, not knowing where he was going.
âIf you do, that's fine. I don't know you and it's not my job to make you happy. If what I do bother's you so much, get yourself a blindfold, Nun." You apologise to Kei and you still donât know why I did what I did.. even when I said I didnât want to disclose the reason. You can be pretty dense Silas.. she thought moving her hand off her face, not going to be intimidated by him. He may have a lot of girls wrapped around his finger, but she was never going to be one of them.
âLet me make this clear." "I'll touch whoever I want, and I'll always accept the consequences of my actions.." Silas said gesturing in Keiâs direction.
How can you keep going on like this when you already should know I just didnât want him hurt.. He doesnât have to accept the consequences of your actions especially when it could hurt him. Youâre so dense.. this is backing your friend Akira too in some way isnât it... she wondered hopelessly. No words could describe how annoyed she was first with Silas as a womanizer and now as a person.
You must be so used to getting things your way.. it doesnât work out in the real world. Someday youâll grow old, womanizing wonât work anymore and you have to get your shit together through genuine hard work. No calm down Momo.. donât swear. she returned her hand to her head as if feverish.
" But I don't care about your little rules, and I don't give a shit about these "general manners" you love so much." he said before shuffling towards the window where Kei once was.
"Just remember- You touched me firstâ Momo couldnât help herself as she said, "I'll touch whoever I want, and I'll always accept the consequences of my actions..â she tossed the same words back at him.
See how ridiculous that logic is? she thought, poking her tongue out at him before looking Seraâs way.
âSera..?â she looked at her with sad eyes after Akira had said such harsh and uncalled things to her as well and the uneasiness was showing in her friendâs face. Momo leaned over and gave the girl a comforting hug though honestly she needed one for herself too. âIâm not mad at you for not telling me.. I hope we stay good friends!â she said the last bit cheerfully, perking up before pulling away and remembering Miamiâs request. âNumbers.. wellâ she took her phone out of her pocket and flipped it open, sparing another glance in Keiâs direction as Akira added,
"Kei, I'm supposed to be on medicine for my anger, but they didn't send it. I already apologized, but if you really want me to do it again, I'm sorry. I don't even understand why I did it myself! When I snap inside my head, I can't stop myself, if you want to hold that against me, go right ahead. I'm not going to listen to four people snap at me for the same mistake.. quite honestly, I can't.." Already apologised? Hardly.. she was smirking amused half of the time. she bit her lip, knowing her thoughts didnât matter. What Akira said would overrule anything she thought when it came to Kei. Looking down at her phone, she looked through her contact list stopping at Keiâs number.
He probably regrets everything, even more as she apologises to him so sweetly compared to the way she apologised to me. Sheâs his weak spot.. Iâm just some junior kid he feels obligated to look out for. Nothing I say matters.. she thought, her thumb ready to text him a message while in her head, she was trying to think of all the reasons she shouldnât text him.
