Loyalty Over Blood

Loyalty Over Blood

Two families, and a city at war. Where do you stand, in the conflict? Will you die by the hands of your enemies? Or be betrayed by your friends?

12:13 a.m; October 9th, 1922

Silhouettes fumble in the darkness, an exchange of quieted voices and sudden, boisterous laughter. There would be a loud 'thwap!' the sound of a wooden bat hitting it's mark. There would be resistance, muffled screams of agony and several more blows before all became silent..A gruff voice would be all business, there would be a hollow sound as the presumed bat was dropped to the bloody concrete at the feet of the silhouetted figures. In the breaking light of a flickering street lamp, you can see a man slumped against the corner, just inside the reaches of an alley, blood dripping from his mouth, a deep gash at his head. His eyes swollen but still widened in what had once been horror. "The Moretti family will be so pissed!" A heavily accented, excited voice would squeal the sound of school boy sneakers hitting the ground repeatedly.

When Mussolini became dictator of Italy in the early 1920's, thousands of immigrants came to America, along with the fragments of the Sicilian Mafia. To avoid the harsh life and struggles, some of the Italian immigrants would turn to the American Mafia, to a life of crime for the chance at luxury. Racketeering was the control of one particular area of profiteering. Rackets included, prostitution, illegal gambling, protection, and extortion, and during the Prohibition era in which this roleplay takes place, bootlegging.

This is before the designation of the five families of New York and will center around two, families. The Moretti, family and the Greco family. The Moretti are the more rich of the two families, with families in the northern reaches of the city, from Inwood to Hell's Kitchen. They control the prostitution, and illegal gambling rackets. Controlling the extortion and protection part of the rackets, involving their territories. While the Greco family is less ritzy, it's a more violent family, having some of the fiercest soldier's. It controls from the Southern Tip to Turtle Bay. It keeps to the extortion and protection rackets of it's designated territory but with the recent success of bootlegging their massive expansion of wealth threatens the Moretti family. As they struggle to pull a profit as well, violence will erupt, and a war will come.

The Families consist of:
The Boss or the head of the family, pretty self explanatory.
The Underboss, who, is the second in command of the family. The underboss often runs the day-to-day responsibilities of the family or oversees its most lucrative rackets. They usually get a percentage of the family's income from the bosses cut. The underboss is usually first in line to become acting boss if the boss is imprisoned, while also frequently seen as a logical successor
The Caporegimes or Capos(3 of them in these families), a captain that gives a percentage of his (and his underlings) earnings to the boss and is also responsible for any tasks assigned, including murder. They control a crew, and soldiers, along with associates.
The Soldiers(3 of them in these families), are the main workers of the family, usually committing crimes like assault, murder, extortion, intimidation, etc. In return, they are given profitable rackets to run by their superiors and have full access to their family's connections and power. Are considered untouchable and a person must have permission from the boss of the family to murder them.
The Associates, people that are affiliated with the family, but aren't considered members, they can act as underlings to soldiers or simply errand boys. Or are people that the family does business with. Sources of cash flow or corrupt officials.
The Consigliere, the consigliere is an advisor to the family and sometimes seen as the Boss's "right-hand man". They are used as a mediator of disputes, representatives or aides in meetings with other families. In practice the consigliere is normally the third ranking member of the administration of a family and was traditionally a senior member familiar with how the organization is run. A Boss will often appoint someone close to him who they trust as their consigliere.

We'll use npc's for family members if need arises.
Ever played the Godfather 2? You should, it's a splendid game! There are certain skill sets, or a few skill sets that members of the family can have to help with mission success. It won't be as black and white as that, but think of it. Because the skills and personality traits your character will have, will greatly evaluate for me, where your character will go in this roleplay.
History, I want versatility, make your character diverse and different, complex. Don't make them generic.
Because I'm not sexist, this roleplay will allow that females are able to become members of a family.

The bosses of the families will be given assignments by me, to make the roleplay suspenseful, and we will converse and discuss among ourselves how things will go.
A responsibility of theirs will be, racketeering management, mission management, resource management(Guns don't just come from nowhere now do they?), and the designation of their family complex in one of their territories.

1. Be respectful and lighthearted. Drama is for the roleplay, not for the ooc.
2. What I and the bosses of the families, say, goes. It's the three vote system that makes things fair.
3. I'd prefer you be mature if you choose to join this, roleplay. 17+ If you still laugh at "That's what she says.." Jokes and are younger than that, should probably look somewhere else for a Mafia roleplay.
4. Should be somewhat literate, not grammar/spelling nazi, check your post twenty times, spellcheck and all that. But pay attention and do your best.
4. No godmodding.
5. All attacks on other players must be open-ended.
6. Have a hell of a lot of fun.
7. Lesser note, use the damn character sheet.
8. Right now, kiddies. Join my roleplay. If you read this you have to submit a character, rules are rules.

Character Sheet:
Body Type:
-Casual Wear:(What kind of apparel can your character usually be seen in?)
-Pocket Weapons:(Weapons your character carries around, 'just in case.')

Forbidden romances will be welcomed, just plain romances will be welcomed. Drama and theatrics, so long as you aren't over-acting are welcomed. Dialogue should be heated at times, sad at others. I want you to BE your damn characters, step into their shoes and do and say as they would. Be passionate about what happens, but realize that your character could die.
