It was quiet.
Very quiet, and Sam didn't like it. His arms and legs felt sore, as the position he was in was not very comfortable. A soft murmering emitted from his mouth as he tried to open his eyes, but without succes. His head fell back to the cushion of the chair he was locked in and with a deep sigh you could hear him swearing softly.
What time was it? He didn't know, but what he knew, was that this was painful and that he was hungry. All of sudden parts of his memory started to fall back into place and with a shock, Sam sat up. A spaceship crash... While he was trying to unblur his vision, things started to make more sense. He remembered the ship being ripped in two because of the rough, and rather unplanned landing. He remembered the faces of the crew, the frightened faces of the people that got sent out in the sky and probably ended up dead somewhere here on this planet, but he wasn't sure if he was the only survivor.
Sam gasped for air, the oxygen was too little to actually be able to breathe properly. But the moment he tried looking for the oxygen pods and move from his chair, a severe sting was felt in his lower leg. A piece of metal, origined from the roof of the spaceship, fell on his leg and pierced through, leaving a massive wound in his flesh.
"Shit.." He muttered, dragging his legs behind him through the rubbish that was still left from the ship.
He finally could find it, the oxygen pods. It was carried in a futuristic, black bag that could be opened by pressing the button on the middle of the object, and a rack with oxygen pods would pop out.
As soon as he could, he inhaled one of the pods, what would made it able for him to breathe properly for the next 24 hours. This could be hard....
A rustle was heard, Sam immedately moved his head into the direction of where the sound came from.
"Who's there? Or.. What's there?" Quietly, he searched the ground around him for an object he could use as a weapon. All he could find was another scrap of metal, that could be perfectly used as a stabbing material.
"Show yourself!"

Moka slowly opened her eyes. She looked around and realised she was among thick overgrowth. She didn't remember walking or falling here but she did remember crashing. She sat up and felt a searing pain in her side. Moka attempted to gasp but the air was to thin. She fumbled with an air tight bag before she was able to open it. Once she had activated the air pod she was able to gasp. She lightly touched it. Broken ribs. She put her hand on a rock and hauled herself up. She saw smoke not to far away, was it the crash site. She ran through the thick and towards the site, ignoring the burning pain of her broken ribs. She stopped suddenly just before she reached the crash site. She heard a familiar voice.
"Sam? Sam!" she said,"It's me," She walked from the overgrowth with her hands up. She realised it was Sam and ran to him and wrapped her arms around him. She didn't really know him but it was such relief to know he was alive. She suddenly moved back clutching her side. The impact of the hug must have crushed her ribs slightly. She closed her eyes and realised she wasn't the only injured one. She pointed a finger at Sam's leg and raised an eyebrow in question.

"W-what? Moka! You're alright? I'm so relieved!" Sam yelled, truly relieved by the sight of one of the survivors. He gasped for a moment when the girl grabbed his waist to emerge in a hug, complaining about his injured leg.
"Easy, easy." He warned her, slightly dragging himself back to the chair he came from. "I don't know what happened. It's... Blurry. My memory... I don't remember why we crashed." He sighed and took a look at the injury on his leg.
"But that's not important right now." He looked up at her, forcingly smiling.
"I'm glad I'm not the only one, I really am." His facial expression changed to a painful look as he felt the scrap of metal stuck in his leg. After swearing a few unfriendly words, Sam tried pushing himself up from the chair eventhough it was not a good thing to do. The best thing to do was to keep sitting down in his current position, as he might injure himself only more.
"Did you find anyone else?" Sam asked softly, hoping anyone would still be alive from the severe crash they made.

Blinding pain welcomed him as Haruko emerged from unconsciousness, pain so bright and fierce that it almost made him vomit. He groaned and lightly touched his head, thus making him gasp when once more excruciating pain flashed through his head. Haruko wimpered softly, he could hardly breath, was struggling hard to draw in some air. His eyes were still tightly closed. Blind and in horrible pain, not being able to breathe, he slowly felt a panic-attack rising in him. His instincts were screaming at him to calm down and he tried to order his abused brain. Air, he needed air first and foremost, so he quickly fumbled for the oxygen pod and activated it. “Ah….” Haruko took a deep breath and sank back into, what he just now recognized as soft grass.

Grass? Since when was there grass on spaceships? His mind was still way too befuddled to make sense of the whole situation he found himself in, but Haruko realized that it probably wouldn’t be the smartest idea to keep lying here unprotected. Slowly, his eyes blinked open and he found himself staring at the green leaves of a huge tree right above him. Not a spaceship then, he thought and frowned. The last thing he remembered was being on the ship and talking to his superior. What had happened in the meantime? Confused, he reached up to his head once more to check the injury, this time more carefully. Haruko fingered the right side of his frontal bone and quickly pulled his hand back again, when he felt the blood there. A lot of blood.

“Damn it!” he growled. Of course he knew that head injuries always bled more than other wounds, but it was still doing nothing to calm him down. Haruko got out the single band-aid and bandaged his head as well as he could while still lying on the ground. Only then did he attempt to raise from this position. A task he found harder to manage than one might think with the vertigo slamming into him full force, making the world fade in and out of his view. Still, he fought himself into a standing position and pulled out the gadget and turned it into a dagger. In case he was attackted, Haruko would at least have a weapon, though he doubted that he was in any shape to put up much resistance in a fight.
“I need to find the others.” He muttered under his breath. “…if there are any others.” Bad thought! Haruko looked around and noticed smoke rising into the air from a position slightly to his left, so he started in that direction. His pace was very slow, as he stumbled more than walked, bracing himself against the trees for support.

Finally, after what seemed like hours, he reached the source of the smoke. His ship, the one that he had been on, crashed! Haruko could only stare for several minutes, but the throbbing in his head made him stumble forward. He wouldn’t be able to keep conscious, much less upright, for much longer. “Hello?” he called as loud as he could which only made the pain worsen. “HEY! IS ANYONE HERE?”

The pain in his leg seemed bearable till now, probably because he never woke up from his unconsciousness earlier. Now, things started to feel rather real and the aching stings were kicking in. Was it broken? Sam took another look at his lower leg and muttered softly to himself. He still couldn't believe what happened. Parts from his memory were missing what made it unable to calculate the current situation. Another sting. Quickly, he reached for his leg, and immedately started panicking when he found out the blood that surrounded him origined from himself.
"I swear to god." He stuttered, not wanting or trying to calm down in this current situation he was thrown in. The dizzy in his head made it unable for him to think clearly, and at the sight of a human form, he wondered if it was real, or the doing of his fantasy.

"H-haruko?!" It was the first name that got up into him when he saw the being's face. It was blurry, but at least he could recognize someone. "You're Haruko. Yes. I'm sure." Sam seemed plainly off from his usual routines, the way he talked and acted was not very recognizable for sam. He was in confuse and panick, what caused this behaviour. He almost seemed delirious: The things he said had nothing to do with either the meet up with Haruko nor Moka, nor with the plane crash, and neither with the whole situation. But it seemed a natural reaction, you could guess. Sam was plainly traumatized, and it was now when it kicked in. It took a while, but it couldn't be avoided.

Crashed! The beautiful spaceship, wrecked! How could that possibly have happened? It pained him greatly to see the damage that had been done to it from such a close distance as he stumbled alongside the ship. Over time it had become a home to Haruko and he had found his little places where he could withdraw for times when he felt the need to be alone. The room where he had been taught how to treat patients by his superior ... all destroyed! Nevertheless, he had been trained not to give up easily. It would be a good idea to search the ship for anything he might use. Food, more oxygen pods, medical equipment. Maybe some of it had survived the crash.

Suddenly there was a noise! Like a soft whisper, carried over to him as he slowly searched the wreck for any sign of life, but even in his current shape Haruko could easily make it out due to the quiet of the forest behind him. No animals could be seen or heard, no wind blowing through the leaves. Only the crackling sound of small fires that he could make out by the ship disrupted the silence. In a way it was eerie. The sudden move of turning his head into the direction of the noise sent the world spinning around him and Haruko had to brace himself against the ship so he wouldn't keel over. When finally the vertigo stopped, he proceeded towards the noise, eager to find some other survivors. He spotted an opening where parts of the ship had been obviously ripped off, so he carefully pulled himself through the hole into the ship. "Hello?" he called again and this time he received an answer from somewhere in front of him.

The smoke and lack of light made it hard to make out more than just shapes, but he recognized that voice almost immediately. "Sam?" Haruko stumbled forward and sank to his knees next to the older man. "I'm glad I found you." he whispered, relief palpable in his voice. Just then did he notice the third person in the room. "Moka!" So two others had survived the crash, that was good, though he did not dare to hope for more. "Are...Are you two alright?" Haruko had problems talking without slurring his speech, but he had to make sure to do his job, even with a concussion.

The fact that he just now noticed the injured leg of his comrade, said much about his befuddled mind. Usually, he was much more perceptive than that. "Lie still, I'm going to have a look at you leg, okay, Sam? Just try to relax." His voice took on the soothing tone which came naurally to him when treating patients. Gently, Haruko started to prob the injured limb with his fingers to see if the metal had broken the bone or hit one of the main arteries. When he was satisfied with what he found, Haruko turned back to the other man. "Al...Alright, Sam. Y-You will live, okay. But I need to remove the ...that metal so I can bandage your leg." Haruko placed hin hand one Sam's arm and rubbed in what he hoped was a comforting way. It was neccessary, but it would be painful and Sam was obviously exhibiting symptoms of a shock.

Sam shook his head in disagreement the moment his mate told him his plans, He was going to remove the scrap of metal from his flesh, but earlier when he tried it doing himself, it gave him severe stings which he didn't want to witness again. Sam clenched his teeth when he realized Haruko was really going to remove it, in his calm manners. It was Always a thing Sam looked up to, that Haruko had the ability to keep calm and orientated. Sam was the son of the commander, but in traumatizing situations, he realized, Sam was not quite the type to keep calm and peaceful.

He felt his heartbeat racing and a dizzy spell after the moment the scrap of metal was removed. He didn't restrain himself from yelling or swearing, nor did he found himself calming down after that, what had a great contrast with the calm Haruko. The pain in his leg, however, slowly drained away to a light and bearable sting what made it for Sam easier to breathe. Relying on his partner like this, in this situation, felt almost as a burden towards Haruko. He, himself was injured aswel and here Sam was drawing all of his energy towards him, eventhough it probably was an instict Haruko was using.
"You'e fine, right? You are?" Sam kept recalling, breathing in an irregular pace. He needed to be sure that his mate was okay, even after he noticed his bloody head injury.

Sam could do nothing else but laugh with a relieved sound, before making his head fall back to the cushion of the chair. He seemed to slowly calm down because of Haruko's presence, just like Always, before the crash, still on the ship. This guy Always seemed to have the abilty to calm people down in a chaos. Eventhough Sam was a good leader and was good with keeping the peace in a chaos, this was just too much too handle and at those times, it was perfect that Haruko existed.
"Thanks." Sam begun, still staggered about the happening.
"We need to find my father." Sam concluded, after all, his father was the one giving orders. But in these conditions, it would be a great possibility for his father to have lost his life. But Sam didn't want to think about that, not now.

After a while, Sam was able to stand up with support of a piece of the shipwreck. It felt sore but it was bearable. For a moment, Sam stared in the distance, but the only thing he could see was unknown terrain. Overgrown forest, and a lot of questions bubbled up in his head. He remembered the mapping system in his communicating device, but he wasn't sure if this terrain was calculateable. But, a try wouldn't hurt, right?
"I knew it." Sam murmered, turned to Moka and Haruko after activating the mapping system. It was quite high tech, but what would you expect in this era? Sam watched the hologrammed screen closely. But he didn't became a thing wiser, all he discovered was that they crashed on the bottom of a cliff.
"Since I have no flippin' idea where we are, we should just watch out for any enemies." Sam said to his crewmates as he tried to turn around, more stumbling than turning.
"What are your plans, Moka, Haruko?"

He could understand Sam's reluctance of having the metal removed, it would be very painful and the bloodflow would increase as well, so Haruko would have to be fast with fixing the bandage around the leg. Still, it was neccessary to remove it before an infection could set in. Anyway, they couldn't stay in this wreck forever and Sam wouldn't be able to move with the thing in his leg, so it had to be done now. Haruko closed his hand around the metal and started to pull it out, careful not to cause even more damage to the leg. As he had predicted, the blood started flowing more freely, now that the wound was gaping open. With shaking hands, he pressed a compress to the wound and bandaged it tighly to stop the bloodflow. "Alright, all done. Now we just have to watch you for signs of an infection setting in." he told Sam with a tired, but encouraging smile on his face.

Worried, Haruko watched Sam's breathing speed up and quickly took his pulse which was fairly racing. Moving closer to him, he grabbed his shoulders and tried to talk him through the pain. "It's okay, Sam. The pain wil receed soon. Just give it a few moments and try to breath slowly. In and out, in and out. That's it!" Haruko had problems keeping his own breathing regulated, as the pain in his head was worsening by the minute. He knew that he should be lying in bed and resting, but that wasn't an option right now.
Luckily, at least Sam's pain seemed to have gotten a bit better. Haruko smiled slightly to himself, touched by his companion's concern for his health. Usually it was him caring for others and he did enjoy doing so, but it still was nice to know that others cared for him as well. "I ...I'll be alright, just a slight concussion." he answered the question, then looked around the room they found themselves in. "What 'append? I can't seem to remember anythin'." he said slowly, his speech getting more slurred as he leaned against Sam's chair in exhaustion.

He felt himself drifting off and quickly pulled himself upright. This was not the time for sleeping, they didn't even know yet where they were. Wait, he did know where they were, in the spaceship. That was good, right? But why didn't it feel good? Oh...right, they had crashed. Why? Haruko realized that he was rambling and badly confused. "I...I don't feel so well.." he whispered before leaning to the side when he started vomitting. With a shaky hand, he rubbed his forehead, which felt cold and clammy. Tiredly, he leaned back against the chair and tried to slow his heartbeat which was a bit too fast for his liking.

"Your father?" Haruko asked confused, his voice rather quiet. Oh...right, the Commander. "Yes, alright. He could anywhere though, Sam." he said, watching the other boy get up. "My plans are pretty non-existing so far..." Haruko muttered. "Do you actually want to go out there? It will be dangerous." Still, he knew that he would follow Sam if that was going to be the plan.

Sam looked over to his mate with a worrysome look. He seemed ill, as Sam turned away his head a slight the moment Haruko vomited. He knew he couldn't help it, but you couldn't blame Sam for choking on his own saliva because of him throwing up.
""Haruko, a slight concussion? Are you mad? You look terrible." He said after recovering from choking. He turned to his mate and kneeled down next to him, investigating the wound on his head.
"This looks real bad, yo." He stated. But they couldn't be wandering here as enemies might smell their scent. Sam, still with blurry memory and consciousness, stood up and took another look around him.
"Looks like we're in trouble."

"Krrt. Krrt." Sam turned around, as he heard a weird noise coming from the left. He couldn't notice any sign of life, but he knew that if there was a sound like this, they would be in danger. With healthy awareness, Sam dragged out his weapon and made it form into a dagger, the most convinient weapon for now since Sam wouldn't be able to run and close combat was hard with longer weapons.
""Krrrrt. Krrrt." Sam felt his heartbeat pacing up. After looking at Haruko to warn him, he turned his head to the direction he thought the sound could come from. He couldn't recognize it in any way. After the third time hearing the strange alien noise, Sam began to feel nervous and clenched his hands around his weapon standing steady. If there was an enemy, he'd be forced to fight.

"Kshaah!" A lizard like animal, the size of a decent water bottle sprung up at Sam's face out of the bushes and made him collapse to the ground, he couldn't keep his balance and ended up struggling with the animal on the ground.
"Get it off me! Get it off me! Don't just stand there!" Sam yelled in panick when he felt the animal crawling down from his face to his chest. The moment he saw how big it was, Sam let out a relieved sigh and with shaking hands he shrugged off the little poor lizard.
"I swear to god, those friggin' animals trying to scare the crap out of me. Be careful they said, would be good they said, and promptly we crash into an abandoned planet with animals no one ever saw. Like, how are we even getting off this thing? I can't fucking fly you know." Sam started ranting while he kept lying on the ground, unaware of the animals lurking nearby.

Haruko smiled slightly at Sam and ran a hand through his messy hair to smooth it back. "Don't worry about me, Sam. I'm not dying." he said with a wink. True, right now he was feeling rather poorly and should probably be resting, but he also knew that he could push his body a bit more if need be. And for now they had to look for a safe place to spend the night. The wreck would be attracting other living beings, whatever they might be here on this planet, so they could stay here for much longer. And they also had to look for other survivors. They might not be the only people that got injured, but survived. Maybe there were more and now they needed help? Slowly, Haruko pulled himself up by using the seat he had been leaning against as a crutch. At Sam's words, he looked up.

"Krrt. Krrt." He too could hear the weird sound that had alerted his comrad and turned to the left. "What could that be?" he wondered, hoping it wasn't some savage creature. With their combined injuries it would be hard to fight right now, but Haruko still grabbed his dagger more tightly and braced himself for what would come. Sam was doing the same and had positioned himself in front of himself and Moka, ready to strike at the still invisible thing.
"Krrrt. Krrrt." The noise came again, much closer and much more threatening this time and Haruko nodded in understanding at Sam when he turned to him. They would have to fight, whether they wanted to or not. In his case it was the latter, but he wouldn't let his comrade face the danger on his own.

"Come on..." he growled under his breath, flexing his fingers around the weapon. The adrenalin was pushing back the throbbing pain in his head and he felt more alert than he had in quite a while, for now. He wasn't naive to believe it would last for long.
Suddenly, with a hiss, a lizzard jumped at Sam and he started struggling with it. Whatever Haruko had been expecting this wasn't it. Certainly, the lizzard was larger than was normal, but it didn't seem to be overly dangerous. Haruko couldn't help but start laughing when the tension drained from his body and he watched Sam fight with the creature all the while hollering at him to help. When he finally got rid of the animal, Sam just started ranting and Haruko laughed louder. "A great show, my dear Sam." he clapped his hands in mock applause, but his eyes were alight with mirth, he was glad that the mood had loosened a bit. "Are you okay, Sam?" he finally asked when his laughter died down, his expression rather sheepish. He usually didn't laugh at people, but this had been too funny.

"Shut up, It's just a lizard, I'm fine." He muttered grinning to Haruko as he saw the lizard running off more afraid for Sam than Sam was for the lizard. He never expected it to be this big, but still the animal was probably just guarding it's territory.
"We still should be careful, though. This might be baby lizard, and momma lizard might be around somewhere." Sam went out joking and grinned at the direction where the lizard went in. He turned to Haruko, and was quiet for a while.
"We really need to get moving." He mumbled as he gestured at Moka, hoping she would quickly follow the two.

For a while the threesome had been struggling through the thick grown forests. It had a rather charming appearance as the three crewmembers seemed more crawling and struggling than properly walking, supporting eachother now and then. Sam paused, as he heard another noise coming from the woods and he wasn't planning to leave his mates unprotected. He dragged out his weapon for a second time, now looking around hoping it wasn't some stupid lizard of some sort. But also hoping, that the creature was not something that could kill them.

"Haruko, If this is one of Blythe's jokes, I will kill him. If he's not dead yet." Blythe, being the jokester of the crew, probably already was dead, but it was Sam hoping that he still was alive. For a second a shiver ran down his spine as the temperature seemed oddly decreasing.
"Is it just me or is it getting chilly?" He asked, trying to confirm that it was not only him, but indeed the environment around them that tried to weighten their journey towards survival. His breath started to condense, did they travel that long already? Or was it just some kind of mind trick? Sam didn't know what was real or not anymore.

Haruko chuckled and smiled at Sam. Who would have thought that the son of the commander had a sense of humour and could laugh about himself? Haruko had never been working closely with him before, but he started liking the other boy. Nevertheless, he did agree with his words. Who knew what kind of dangerous creatures could be found on this planet that were out for their blood at this very moment? "You're right. Wouldn't want to meet momma lizard now that you scared off her baby." he agreed smirking and stacked away his weapon. "Come on, Moka, we must get going. Or do you want to stay here?" Haruko held out his hand and pulled the girl into a standing position before following Sam out of the wrack.

They made their way through the forest, Sam at the front, then Moka and then Haruko who was still struggling a bit with his vertigo and headache, but as long as he could walk steadily, the pain was bearable. His grey eyes searched the shadows between the trees for unwanted company or even other survivors, but so far everything seemed calm. Maybe the creatures were only active at night? Suddenly, though, Sam stopped the little group and got out his weapon again, so Haruko followed his example immediately, trusting the other to know what he was doing. He turned his back towards the other two, in case an attack came from behind.

Thus they waited and Haruko chuckled slightly about the other's comment. "I'd cheer you on, Sam. Sounds like just the thing the idiot would do to get a laugh." he agreed, rolling his eyes. Though secretly, and he would never admit it even under threat of torture, he actually enjoyed the stupid antics of Blythe. His expression turned sad at the thought of him being dead, so at first, he didn't think anything off the odd chill that went down his back. Still, when Sam mentioned the cold as well, Haruko frowned in suspicion. "I feel it, too. Like all warmth is suddenly drawing away." he said, his voice lower than usual. He started to shiver slightly, not good at all, considering that they had been waking for quite a while. "I don't like that all..."

Sam shook his head, agreeing to Haruko's opinion about the temperature. He alerted himself to their environment for a moment and after that, Sam drew a conclusion. "We should find a place to survive the night. I don't think we'll be safe out in the woods. What do you think?" Sam turned to Haruko, the guy he had been working with for now, and to Moka, the doctor who would care for their injuries.

Haruko was a few years younger than Sam, but he definitely looked up to him in a few ways. He managed to be a good leader, just like himself, and being calm in these situations was very useful too. A grin that would appear a bit out of the situation appeared on Sam's face. He would lie if he'd say he didn't like the guy. Back at the ship, they always tried to fool each other and when one of them fell for the other, they were able to laugh about it. And even in the worst situations, they managed to have a good time. It was weird that when a weak connection could get this strong by such an event, but Sam was happy the crash brought some life into the connection between Haruko and himself after all. Maybe he made a few new friends, Speaking about Moka and Haruko.

"This might do it..." A poorly made up bonfire was lying about in the middle of the small and humid cave they decided to settle in. He looked up at Haruko's injury with a frown, and gestured him close.
"We should take care of that." Carefully, and aware of the stings it could give, he undid the bandage that Haruko wrapped around his head earlier.
"You're an assistant of nothing." Sam teased as he rubbed some of the dried up blood out of the bandage by rubbing it's own surface to another piece of the fabric. They would wanted to be careful with their supplies, as they didn't know how long they would be stuck on this planet. "This might do.. I'm not the best, but I'm trying." He said with a half-grin, after wrapping the fabric properly around the injured parts of his head.

Haruko looked about himself uneasily. The decrease in temperature definitely wasn't normal and probably didn't originate just from the sun going down. But whatever the cause, he truely didn't want to find out right now. "Yes, someplace were we can light a fire without being seen would be good." he agreed and together they started searching for a suited place for the night. They would have to hurry, for the light was quickly fading and the shadows were getting longer and darker by the minute. Soon the darkness would be complete.

Finally, they found a small cave. It wasn't the place he would have wished for, but it would do for one night and tomorrow they would be able to find something better. For now, Haruko would try to make a fire. "I'll be right back, Sam. Just looking for some dry pieces of wood for a fire." he let the other boy know and started his search. They would need to look for something to eat tomorrow as well, but for now the most important thing was to stay warm, especially while they were sleeping.
A noise made Haruko look up, while he was crouched on the ground to gather wood. It had sounded like twigs being snapped under the weight of something. He tensed and waited, his body still and ready to jump out of the way should he be attacked, but nothing happened. Shaking his head, Haruko continued back into the cave.

The fire was crackling and Haruko moved closed to the warmth, as he was shivering slightly from cold and exhaustion. He moved closer to Sam so he could re-bandage his head better and smiled thankfully at him. "I fear my hands might have been a bit shaky when I did that." he said ruefully, wincing as the pain got worse. He hoped that the wound had stopped bleeing in the meantime, but it looked as though the blood had dried already. That was good, so it wasn't too bad then on the surface at least. If he had a bleeding in his brain there would be nothing to do about it anyway, so he just hoped for the best.
"Thank you, Sam." Haruko smiled gratefully at the older boy and squeezed his shoulder in thanks. "How's your leg? Has the bleeding stopped? Otherwise we might have to sew it." he stated, worried about Sam's injury.

"It did, It did." He said, smiling, looking at his leg as he got reminded of it by the guy he started to see as his friend for a slight. Sam stared at the flames that radiated it's comfortable heat, it helped keeping the three warm. It was unbelieveable how it was possible that, when in the future you had everything you needed, you still had to survive with the littlest things you could find. You never knew what would happen, so the lesson was to be always prepared.

Squeezed by Haruko, Sam looked up at him with a blank, more like tired expression on his face. He nodded in order of the thankful gesture and Sam sighed.
"It's odd." Sam begun speaking. "Even with all this technology, we are still sitting around a campfire with sticks and stones." A grin appeared. It really was unexpected, but he could live with it. He was glad he was even alive, and lucky he wasn't stuck with some kind of douchebag.
"At least I'm stuck with you guys, would be rather inconvient if we weren't able to co-operate." He stated as he started poking the fire with a stick, mentally drifting off, thinking about what could have happened to his father.

Haruko let out a sigh of relief at hearing that Sam's wound wasn't bleeding any longer. He really wasn't in the mood to try and sew it together again and he doubted that his new-found friend would enjoy it much. "I'm glad to hear it." he said, trying to stiffle a yawn. He leaned back against the cool stone of the cave and pulled up his legs to his chest, wrapping his arms around them, so he could rest his chin on his knees. This time he couldn't hold back his yawn, after the crash, the concussion, the long walk through the forest, he was just cold, hungry and exhausted. "Do you think we should be taking turns in keeping guard, Sam?" he asked the older boy. "Just in case any dangerous animal decides we would make a good snack." Haruko said jokingly.

Sam's words made him chuckle, it was a subject he had often pondered about. "I think in the end, no matter how far advanced the human race gets, in a situation where they are stripped of everything, their whole technology, their whole equipment, they have to go back to their roots. Making fire, hunting for food, trying to survive." he said thoughtfully, closing his eyes. "That's why I try not to rely to much on all this modern technology. It has great advantages no doubt, but still, one should never forget how to live without it."
Haruko felt himself slowly dozing off, but he still smiled warmly at Sam's comment about their company. "I'm quite glad that I found you as well. Together our chances of survival are much greater than alone." he said softly before going quiet.

Sam noticed how Haruko was slowly drifting off to sleep, and it was then that Sam realized it was his duty to guard over the two at night. It was not a problem, though he had a single worry: If he'd fall asleep before waking up one of the others, they'd be stuck unattended for the night. He told himself no matter what, if he would feel drowsy, that the first thing he would do was waking up one of the others. As long as he was conscious, that wouldn't be a big issue.

He didn't know what time it was, and even when it wasn't important to know, he still had the irky feeling he had to know. Nor did he know what day it was and it started to annoy him. He had been staring at the fire for at least a half hour wondering about the time before realizing it was no use thinking about it, and that thinking about a plan would be much more useful, considering they were stuck on a deserted planet where predators made the difference. Thinking about that, he clenched his teeth, adrenaline starting to flow through his body. He couldn't accept the fact that they were just sitting here while some sort of alien could be hunting them down somewhere around them, dragging their lives into danger. It was quite the challenge, though, and it brought it's fun sides with it, but after all they were here to regain their experiment and other important information before they could leave. And besides, if someone would rescue them, it would take time, since the most nearby planet probably was a few lightyears away from this one. Sam Sighed again, what he probably did a few times the past few minutes. Maybe it was just time to get rest.

"Haruko." Sam softly said to him, attempting to wake him up in a gentle manner. But ofcourse, Haruko would be in a deep sleep after all the trouble they went through, so Sam decided to slightly shake his shoulder in order to wake him up.
"Haruko, it's your turn. I'm getting sleepy." He said while he felt his eyelids feeling heavier by the minute. There was no reaction, and Sam stared at him for a while, trying to think of a way to wake him up.
"I will throw sticks at you or something." Sam muttered as he searched the ground for something he could throw at his friend, but before that, life started getting into Haruko's corpse and Sam watched him waking up with a grin.

"Urg..." Haruko groaned slightly, coming back to consciousness at someone shaking his shoulder. He could only remember fragments of his dream, something about the three of them in a boat on the ocean with a shark following them the whole time. It didn't take a genius to figure out the meaning behind the dream. The boat and the ocean were the situation they had found themselves in. Stranded on a weird planet. The shark probably represented the danger that was following them. Savage creaures out for their blood. The only thing Haruko did not understand was that he had felt no danger from the shark. Weird ... very weird, but then again it was only a dream.

He heard some mutterings above him and blearily opened his eyes. He must have fallen asleep quite some time ago, he thought as he noticed the night had advanced quickly and it was pitch black outside so far that he couldn't see further than a few meters past the fire.
Looking up, he noticed Sam grinning at him and he slowly pulled himself into wakefulness. "Hey there, did I sleep for long?" he asked drowsily and shook his head as he sat up. It didn't really matter, he felt somewhat better and the headache had receeded as well. "Nevermind, just go to sleep, I'll stand guard." he told the older boy smiling and readied himself for a few hours of staying awake.

He leaned back against the cool stone wall and pulled out his dagger, spinning it in his fingers while he watched the fire. Haruko liked the colour of fire, the way it changed from a warm red to an orange and then to a slight yellow. Had he been on the ship, he would have gotten out his sketch book and drawn the scene. Moka and Sam were sleeping peacefully so far which was good, they would need their strenght tomorrow...or was is today already? It was hard to judge, but it also was not very important. In their situation, time was really not that important. As long as they found away out of here before ther oxygen went out.

"Father, I thought you were dead!" Sam yelled at the figure in front of him. Taking a few steps he got closer to the commander having his back turned towards the boy. He was steering his ship with proud, Sam realized. He tried reaching for him, but all he grabbed was dust, that crawled away through his fingers as if it was liquid. And if it wasn't dust, he didn't want to know what it was. For a moment his vision went blank, and soon after that the spaceship started collapsing; the same black dust that his father turned into started falling from the ceiling as well the space he was standing on was starting to fade away into little fragments of sand. And the moment he fell, Sam woke up, with a sting in his leg.

That dream, probably having the meaning of the feeling of losing everything you have, was frightening, more emotionally than psychically.
"Holy shit, what the hell was that?" The young man gasped, looking around him, slowly recognizing the place they settled themselves in. A cave, probably a few kilometers away from the crash, together with Haruko and Moka. They were waiting for the night to pass around a campfire, and Sam finally realized it was just a dream. He looked up at Haruko, who was awake, and at the opening of the cave. The dim sunlight was starting to shine.
"I guess that was my wake-up call." He sighed, rubbing the sleep out of his face and trying to keep his eyes open.

"We should wake Moka up and get going." He said to Haruko, knowing he was awake. He knew he would have been bored, since Sam was too when he was guarding the two. On purpose, they let Moka sleep because of her severe injuries. She needed the rest, eventhough she complained when Sam told her not to worry over his nightrest. He slept enough, he decided, eventhough he had trouble keeping his eyes open, but everything was scarce on this planet and complaining about sleep would be unfair.
"Maybe even go hunting or something. I feel like a caveman." He muttered softly before getting himself up with trouble, his leg felt sore.

Haruko stared into the fire, his thoughts drifting from one inconsequential subject to the next without really bothering to linger on anything for more than a few seconds. He still could not remember the crash or what had happened before. Had they been attacked? If so, by whom? Or was it just some technical problem? He shook his head, he wouldn't be able to force the memories back into his consciousness. If they would return, then they would do so in their own time. Nothing for him to do about it.
His mind turned to the problem at hand. How to get off this blasted planet in a matter of a few days? Their oxygen wouldn't last for ever and without it the chances of survival would be quite slim. But would they be able to repare the spaceship? From the damage he had witnessed it was truely hard to believe. So their only chances seemed to lie somewhere on this planet.

Suddenly a gasp was heard from behind him and Haruko turned around and walked back to Sam who looked as if he had just woken from a bad nightmare. "Are you okay, Sam?" he asked concerned for his friend. It obviously was the night for strange dreams, he though and shook his head. He smiled slightly at the sleepy expression on Sam's face and the way blearily looked around, hardly able to keep his eyes open. It was a rather cute look on the usually focused face.

Haruko nodded at Sam and they woke their female comrad from her night rest. She also seemed to be looking a bit better than the day before, so that booded well for their journey through the forest. He doubted that they would be able to avoid danger for long and it would only be to their advantage to be as healthy as possible to survive.
Haruko burst out laughing at the image of Sam in a loincloth made of fur running around chasing after animals for dinner. "I think, I would be happy with some fruits or berries as well for now. I think we should try to find some water though. I'm really thirsty." he said, slowly calming down again.

"I don't think berries or fruit would be useful." Sam stated. "We don't know if it's posionous, and therefore, the fruits..." Sam looked up at one of the trees, that probaly were three times bigger than a thousand years ago.
"I'm not going to climb." He grinned, walking their path further with a slight limb. They had been walking for a while again now, and meanwhile, Sam looked aside at Haruko, who was having this serious expression on his face that he found rather interesting. He was always so calm. It inspired him. As he caught himself staring at his friend, he shook his head and strictly looked in front of him. That was weird. Haruko was far away from attractive, he tried to make himself think that.

Sam let himself collapse on the ground, probably making his friends frightened for a moment. But it was nothing more than him giving up. He was so done with everything, he couldn't think of something that went well these days.
"I swear. My legs are sore, my eyes feel heavy and my stomach is hurting. I want to go home, Haruko." Sam sighed, resting his head in his hands. Sam was a good fighter and always went for the end, but when he gave up, he really gave up. Eventhough with a small talk you could get him back up the track, it was still sad to see him like this. But it was only human, right? To give up sometimes?

Haruko couldn't help but pout slightly at the prospect of not getting anything sweet to eat for quite a while. He loved fruits and berries and usually nicked some during the meals on the ship. Now though, he would have to make due with meat ... how grant! He sighed and hurried along after Sam and Moka. Thus, they were walking for a while and Haruko was staring ahead, trying to think of a way to best hunt for some animals. They didn't have many weapons at hand and who knew what kind of animal lived on this planet. Out of the corner of his eyes he found Sam staring at him and blushed slightly. Why on earth would he be blushing? That didn't make sense, he thought slightly angry at himself. The other boy was probably just trying to figure out who of them was to go hunting and Haruko would probably be faster without having an injured leg. Still, more than once he found his eyes being drawn to the older boy next to him.

That's why he saw how suddenly Sam seemed to fold into himself and collapse to the ground. Quickly, Haruko jumped forward and gabbed his arms to slow down the fall. His eyes looked troubled and slightly scared as they searched Sam's face for the reason for this. He didn't have to wait long before the other boy started ranting, though admitedly it was a rather tired rant and now that he looked closer at his friend, Haruko could see the exhaustion reflected in his eyes. With a sigh, he sat down close to him and and put his hand on his shoulder. "Sam, I know you are exhausted and that is fine and perfectly understandable. But you can't give up now." he told him in a calm, but soothing. "You just can't. Moka and I need you now. You are our leader and we will support you till the end, but you must not give up!" Haruko's voice got slightly louder, but he knew that if they gave up now, all would be lost. "We still have several days before our oxygen runs out, but till than we have to try and find a way out of here."
Slowly, he turned Sam's face so he was looking at him. "Together we will manage, alright Sam? I promise." Haruko smiled at him, trying to show his confidence in their little group.

Sam kept shaking his head in disagreement at the cheerings of Haruko, he couldn't believe a word of what he said. Slowly, though, when Haruko raised his voice and not very long after that, he couldn't help himself looking up straight at him and getting quiet for a second. It was not that it was Haruko, it was because he felt how hard the younger boy tried to keep him upbeat and ready for the day. And maybe, maybe it was Haruko, but mainly because of the reason Haruko tried his best even when they were settled into this.

"Thanks." Was the only thing he muttered at the promise. He looked up, at the sky that seemed cloudless, and back at Haruko, with a confident look on his face. Sam got up with a struggle, but he managed to stand firm again with the help of his friend. Without them, he would be still lying on the ground, ranting, complaining and sobbing.
"Alright, Sorry for the hold up." He apologied with a slight dumb appearing smile. He was glad his friends were supporting like this.

Before they could start walking, Sam checked his mapping system, so they could find a direction to walk in. He found out that if they would go left their walking path would be rough, since the end of the cliff was there, making the terrain not accesable. He mumbled under his breath and looked at the right.
"I guess we should go here." He said, but before that, he squinted his eyes to look at the flashing red dot on the system. They had visitors, it seemed. And they weren't very happy, as their movement was pretty fast and coming into their direction.
"I don't know if we should run, hide or attack." Sam said with a slight anticipation. Adrenaline slightly started to bubble up in his veins as he knew that this confrontation wouldn't be one of the easiest ones. They were with two, probably hunting partners. He had no idea what kind of creatures they would expect.

Relief made his body go limb when Haruko saw that Sam wasn't going to give up so easily. Hopefully, his words had helped him a bit. He squeezed his shoulder once more to let him know that thanks were not needed and then pulled himself up again. He helped his friend up as well, as he was still struggling with his injured leg and smiled at Sam. "No worries, we all feel a little pissed off with the world sometimes, right?" he said jokingly, to lighten up the mood a bit. They couldn't lose their spirit now that they needed to be as strong as they could.

Haruko waited patiently next to him, as Sam checked his map. Maybe he could make out a good route for them to walk on, the map was their only way of orientation on this planet they got after all, so they would have to trust it. Finally, Sam seemed to have found the best way for them to take, and Haruko nodded in understanding at the direction given.
Suddenly, though he could feel Sam tense up next to him as he saw something on the map that obviously weren't good news. "What it is?" he asked uneasily, tensing up as well at the answer to his question. So their were going to have to fight, perfect! "I think we won't manage to outrun them, especially with your leg. So we will have to fight." Haruko got out his dagger and changed it into a long sword. He had been practicing with it during training lessons, so it was his prefered weapon and here was enough space to wield the sword.

He grasped the sword in both hands and positioned him next to Sam, facing the direction where the danger was heading from. He licked his lips nervously and steeled himself for the attack when a loud growl was to be heard. "Here we go..." Haruko muttered and in the next instance something large and furry with large wings jumped at them. Without thinking, Haruko swang his weapon towards the creature. It shrieked loudly in pain when steel connected with flesh, but it wasn't more than a large gash. Haruko backed away, hoping that Sam would be able to deal with the other creature and readied himself for the next attack of the thing, whatever it was.

"What the hell?!" Sam yelled, after quickly readying his weapon, when one of the beasts leaped at him without a single warning. He chose to go for the curved sword, since that was a weapon that would hurt most if you'd stab it good. The animal clawed at Sam's face, but the distance was too big between them to actually reach him. With a relieved sigh he stood steady, ready for any upcoming attack. Sam knew the beast would attack another time, since it almost seemed rabid how it looked at the threesome. They would fight, even when in this state of mind.

Clenching his teeth and leaping at the animal made the creature leap back at Sam, making the claws clash with the sword. For Sam, that was a little opportunity to make this animal lose it's defenses. He kicked the beast without mercy, in it's stomach, what made it welp and crawl away a few meters. Sam was not done yet. As if he was hunting down an elephant, Sam, even with his injury, ran in the direction of the beast and stabbing the sword right through it's neck, making it go wild. That was when Sam lost his grip on his weapon, and made the opportunity greater for the creature to claw at Sam, and it never missed.

Wounds that wouldn't look very severe appeared at his face, bleeding slightly as Sam collapsed on the ground under the animal, supporting his hands against the chest of the appearance to avoid being crushed. He gasped when it's beak came close in a flash, but missed. He took the chance to grab his weapon back with trouble, but he managed to do so, stabbed it once more, making it run away in retreat, after calling it's mate, the other beast that approached Haruko earlier. And as fast as it came it dissapeared, leaving the two panting.

Sam was lying about on the ground when he started realizing they won the fight, making him grin like a little kid in front of a candystore.
"We did it." He gasped for air, completely exhausted by the unhuman creature that approached them. But they did it. Even when they had trouble, they still did it, and Sam was proud of them they managed to keep alive. Though, their dinner ran away, and that was kind of a shame.
