"Dout thatheo nkyorlic. Confn, wanotreyxkaiv di tileki..."

"Same dream..." It was the soft whisper of a lone female who have awakened from a recurring dream. She rose from her current position for she had lay down to take a short nap during the course of her trip. Straightening her clothes that seemed to have earned minute creases, her gestures and movements were refined to a point of delicate pedigree. There was no denying that this female was part of the upper echelons of society. After making certain that she was now satisfied of her appearance, she directed her mahogany brown eyes to the nearby window as she watched the passing sceneries. There was not much to see as the view become more dreary as the carriage that she had taken continued to move forward to her intended destination.

However, she felt a wave of curiosity similar to an infant of the various things she had seen without restrictions. In her entire existence, this was the only time she had managed to leave the comforts of her home. She was never allowed to leave the premises without the reason of important banquets or guards. Most of the time, she was secluded inside the walls of the compound she had lived in. It was rather ironic as she had never fully explored the town or the continent she was born into. Now, here she was in another land divided by the oceans. She had braved through the security and boarded a ship to transfer her to the Continent of Stars. Upon docking, she had arrived at another town and would need to travel further on land to reach the place she was seeking. As such, she was now inside a carriage which she had rented for this purpose. It was good thinking that she had managed to grab a good amount of money for her expenses.

Reaching something inside her pocket, She took out an envelope. It had already been opened and its contents probably already been seen. She gazed at it for an amount of time before taking out a parcel from it. This was the reason why she had chosen to leave the life she had been born into. A fate that had been bestowed to her just because of the blood that flows in her veins. It would probably caused hysteria when someone finally discovers the letter she placed on top of her desk to inform of her decision. Although, she was certain that her father would reduced such panic into mere nothings to avoid staining the ever-important reputations. She finds such a thing as particularly demeaning and pathetic. "I am not a cricket in a box..."

Keeping the envelope, she wondered what kind of place and experiences she would be able to encounter. This was all due to the provocative invitation that tickled her desire of adventure and the want to take control of her will. Thinking about it, she had opted to throw this seemingly harmless invitation into the trash. If it was not purely for luck, she had picked it from the piles of documents she had unceremoniously tackled down to the floor. She would not have gathered enough courage to disobey every rules and traditions that chained her. Once more, she looked outside the window and could see that she was now in the infamous Obsidian Town of Tier. The place where she will hope to begin a new existence far different from the one she had before.

"Miss, we have arrived."

The driver spoke through the small hole in front of the carriage as it had stopped. She looked once more to the window and confirmed it to be. Opening the door on her own, she stepped out and looked at the structure before her. It was not of glamour or extravagance. Rather, it was much like a tavern of mediocre quality. Regardless, she could see upon closer insight that it had specific features that resembled of a bunker. "Miss, here is your bag." Turning her head to the driver who was an elderly man, she handed him the amount of money that had been agreed upon. After doing so, the said man gave a grateful bow and was soon off. But not before imparting some words to her, "Miss, it is not my place to say this, but, this place does not grant dreams." With that, she was alone while looking at the sign of the structure in front her, Dragon Scale, the widely popular guild of Tier.

Image The words of the elderly driver lingered into her thoughts as she grabbed hold of her bag. It made her wonder if she had come across as someone who was an enthusiastic dreamer. Well, she would not deny that as she views this place as her starting point to new things, the beginning of her dreams. In any case, she should not bother with such vague matters for now. Taking a deep breath, she walked towards the Guild Hall with determination. Upon entering, she had expected a much lively atmosphere due to its outer appearance. However, she was welcomed with a silence that run deep much like something one could read in horror stories. Although, there were no ghosts or monsters but people that could be counted by hand.

At the same time, she could see probably people who had just recently arrived. There were two men in front of her. One was likely to only ahead of her by a year or so. The other was much older due to his current appearance. She did not want to appear rude and completely distant. As such, she gave a courteous bow and greeted the two properly along with the occupants of the Guild. After all, they would be the ones she would get to interact with on a daily basis.

"Good day, My name is Serafine. I have been invited to join Dragon Scale starting today. It is nice to make your acquaintance."

#, as written by Hoga
Hoga walked with his brother at his side. While he was always on guard, he always felt more at ease with his brother at his side. He was one of the few people he truly trusted. Hoga ran his fingers through his hair, moving it from his face so he could see better. It was very unkempt, but he loved the feel of it. It helped him feel free. It was such a small act, but it was showing the world he could do what he wanted with his hair. He put his arm back down, hiding his hand in his jacket, and leaning his elbow on the hilt of his katana. He defiantly didn't look like a samurai. He would forgo traditional garb for his jacket and plain undershirt. He wore nice loose clothes, and some nice breathing pants.

Hoga and Briar walked together into the town, when Briar gave him the wit he always seemed to have at the ready.

"It'll be fun, and there will be adventure, and tough fights, and who knows? Maybe a few women along the way too...' I heard all that, but I think you failed to mention the ungodly distance we would have to walk, not to mention the creepy ass town we were headed to as well."

"You complain too much. Walking is calming. Soothing. We got to see some beautiful sights you have to admit. And we can't judge this city by how it looks. Even the most beautiful cities have dark underbellies. This one is probably a lot better then you give it credit for."

Hoga had to admit though, looking around the town was a little unsettling. He removed his hand from his jacket, and put his thumb up against the guard of his blade, readying himself for any attack. They found the guild they were looking for, Dragon Scale, and walked in. They noticed a small number of people in there, none of whom looked particularly inviting. Hoga didn't mind. He was the patient type. He was perfectly fine with waiting. Meditation and years in the wild left him with a calm center and an even disposition. He would wait for someone to engage him. It didn't take too particularly long, as a woman walked in and quickly addressed Hoga and his brother.

"Good day, My name is Serafine. I have been invited to join Dragon Scale starting today. It is nice to make your acquaintance."

Hoga wasn't one to judge on appearances, or even first impressions, and so he pushed any thought of judgement from his mind. For now he would simply observe her mannerisms and attitude, as well as how she responded. He would pass judgement some other time. For now, he responded.

"I am Hoga, and this is my brother, Briar. We have been invited here as well. Thank you for your kind welcome, milady."

Lucrecia Prime

Lucrecia aimlessly walked around the streets of Dragonbeal exploring the scenery. Her face became flush with disappointment. She was told the land of tier was a green lush paradise. It was known as one of the most prosperous lands in Azura. Yet, the town of Dragonbeal appeared to be more of a warzone than a paradise. She visited the town market to pry information from the locals. The locals gave several mixed responses to her inquiries about Dragonbeal, Dragon Scale, and mages in general. Many of the townsfolk blamed mages and guilds for their constant state of war. Lucrecia paused for a second then took a small note out of her pocket. She began walking the streets of Dragonbeal further until she came upon a large tavern in the center of town. She heard a loud groan in the distance and notice two warriors approaching the tavern. She instinctively hid by a nearby building as to not be noticed by the strangers. The two men looked like seasoned warriors as they entered the building. Lucrecia climbed a nearby building to get a better look at the guild hall. Upon her inspection she noticed the tavern was more of a stronghold than a bar. After the two warriors entered the hall a tall noble looking man appeared. The man kept his face in a book and quietly entered the hall. After the tall man a carriage arrived in front of the building. A regal looking woman stepped out of the carriage and entered the hall.
It was obvious to Lucrecia that the hall was filled with warriors and nobles. She immediately began to question her invitation. She was not a noble or even of middle class. She did not possess the look of a seasoned warrior. Her only accomplishments are the unknown exploits of a skilled thief. She began to wonder with all the nobles and warriors what would her role be within the guild. She then pondered if her invitation was a trap to lure her here. She had many ties and relationships with many low-lives in the Twilight Islands. Whilst in the middle of her thoughts another large warrior arrived. This warrior was more of a brute than the previous arrivals. The large man gave an aura of battle around him as he entered the hall.
Lucrecia paused for a moment with her eyes piercing the sky. Her thoughts gave her a slight hesitation as she pondered if she was up to the task at hand. "Joining a guild!" She had no idea what that meant. "It'll be a nice adventure" she thought too herself in the past when she received her invitation. Now that she was on the precipice of her new life the only thing she could do was take a leap. She placed the note back into her pocket and entered the guild hall. When she entered she noticed six other people besides the ones she saw enter. She looked at the residence and let out a dreadful sigh. There was no light, sunshine, or fun in the atmosphere. They all had a depressed look as though they lost their pet cat. She remember the locals stating how a previous war cause them to lose a few of their members. She supposed that was the reason for her recruitment. She took a few more steps and spoke in a anxious, yet cheerful voice.
"Hello everyone. You can call me Lulu. Now that I'm here all your worries are over."

Dragon Scale: Vera watched in the dark, her eyes being the only light emitting from her dark corner of the tavern. She was never good at speaking in front of a group so she tended to keep her speeches short if avoidance was not an option, which is one of the reasons so many mistaken Raven or Ava as the guild master. The masking of her magic energy didn't help either. She didn't mind she rather be underestimated than overestimated.

The first to arrive were a pair and by the atmosphere between the two she was could label them as brothers but she was not entirely sure, she has been wrong before. The younger appeared more outspoken and reckless? Was that the vibe she was getting off him or was she simply placing him in the same category as Euan. The thought brought her eyes to the red head who's chatter had fallen silent as he stared in the direction of the newcomers, apparently they all were eyeing the newcomers. The older one gave off a vibe of calmness but only on the inside, this man was ready to strike if needed, they had to be brothers. Two very opposite brothers, like two sides of a same coin the thought brought a smile to her face which quickly disappeared.

The sound of a book being closed shut jerked her attention away from her thoughts and to a tall, slender man that entered. With a cocked head she watched him make his way to her. The short time it took him to make it to her, she spent examining him, she truly have recruited quite the bunch. Taking the letter she couldn't help but to smirk this guy was good; polite, and mysterious. The next recruitment could be heard long before she could be seen, the sound of a horse drawn carriage signaled her arrival. Two thoughts popped into her head royalty or escapee. Upon her entering she couldn't help but to think a little bit of both. The lady was royally dressed and the courteous bow simply reinforced her assumption. But there was something about the lady that gave off a familiar feel. Only when she finished her bow and Vera was able to look upon her face did she realize who this lady might be. 'We may have a ex-princess in our midst.'

Royalty was something she had plenty of experience with, good and bad, lets hope she could keep her personal judgement out of it. Speaking of personal judgement she looked over to Raven. The man was gripping the ends of the bar with so much force that the table was beginning to crack, his head was lowered so she was not able to see his facial expression but she could tell he was in a sour mood now that the recruitment process has started. The introduction between the older brother, which she was right on, and Serafine which she realized didn't state her last name brought her attention back to the newcomers.

Shortly after their introduction a man in fine armor, and she knew armor well, entered and took a seat near the door. He was tired from what appeared to be from the journey the armor must of been the cause of it. He appeared to type to place his trust in his armor and weapon, which she had no problem with but this guild would soon show him how to place strength and trust in your fellow guild members. But after a quick scan of her guild she realized this would be quite the feat. The entrance of who introduced herself as Lulu brought about a nicer feel to the room, which was what they needed. Smiling Vera tuck the letter into her pocket and slowly made her way to the center of the room.

"Welcome to Dragon Scale, the number one guild in tier a guild that both deal has jurisdiction within and outside the kingdom," Her voice echoed in the room which only strengthened her uneasiness, this was not her style but she had to do it nonetheless. "It is an honor to be chosen to be a member of this guild for it is already hard to simply join a lesser-guild let alone this one. You will be tested both on and out of the field, this is your initiation if you fail you are expelled but if you pass you are guaranteed a near permanent spot in this guild."

"These are no members of Dragon Scale," The outburst silenced Vera as Raven stood and spoke his mind, "our true members, our family are buried and engraved on tombstones. We are doing nothing more than replacing them with chumps that can barely fit in their shoes."

As if to prove his statement he let his magical energy lash out. When magic energy is let out without any regulation or suppression it gives off a nauseating feel and increases the gravitational pressure within the area. Raven being the second strongest within the guild the pressure was none to be laughed at, the very furniture shook and the ground itself trembled. Vera knowing the recruits weren't able to withstand that much power just yet, let alone town folks passing by, with one look in Raven's direction he collapsed to the ground. With expertise Vera unleashed her magic energy on Raven alone both canceling his and causing him to be able to do nothing more than lie there on his hands and knees trembling. Realizing there was no need for her to butt in, Ava removed her hand from the hilt of her sword.

Ignoring Raven's situation Vera turned back to the others and continued, "I am your guild master Vera Lacross, the two at the bar is Ava Frail, Euan Liveworth, and our bartender slash manager Hugh Ironbelly" Euan smiled and waved while Ava simply stared at their direction and Hugh smiled in their direction unable to properly introduce himself while he cleaned a mug. Nodding towards the white haired lady Vera continued, "This is Celica Rose."

"Hello, it's a pleasure to meet you all," Celica interjected with a quick bow and a smile that could light up a whole room.

"And this is Raven Gray..." With that she suppressed her energy freeing Raven from her influence. Without a word he dusted himself off and went back to sitting down chugging his rum. As if this took a great deal of energy Vera sighed before walking off to the hallway that led to the stairwell, "Ava you handle the rest." With that Vera disappeared upstairs.

As more members arrived shortly behind them, Briar made no attempt to hide the fact that he was measuring up just about everyone in the room while his brother conversed with the young woman that suddenly arrived in the horse-drawn carriage. His eyes shot daggers, trying to bore into his brother's skull in accusation. Walking my ass... he thought. But the girl was polite enough upon arriving, introducing herself and listening politely as Hoga introduced himself and Briar. Even going as far as saying it was a pleasure to make their acquaintance. Most of the people they had met on the road didn't have this girl's courtesy. Their 'pleasure' was usually in watching the two brothers continue on their journey and leaving them behind.

Serafine, as she introduced herself, didn't look like much though. If Briar was a betting man, he would have to go with her shattering to pieces if she happened to fall. He gave a slight wave as Hoga introduced him and continued to peer around at the others in the room. With his vision being a bit biased, his eyes began to focus on the white-haired woman sitting with a black clad man at one of the tables. Something caught the corner of his eye though, interrupting his....study. A flash or a glimmer of some sort coming from the tall man that had entered with his nose in a book a bit before Serafine had. This man was taller than Briar by far, and even stood taller than Hoga as well. Hoga definitely had years on the man though, looking closer to Briar's age than anything. The glimmer had come from near his sleeve, or further up his arm maybe, while he bowed to the hooded woman in the corner. Maybe it was just one of the random buckles that littered the man's subtle outfit.

Before Briar had a chance to resume his study of the White-haired woman, he was sidetracked again as a boulder of a man walked through the doors and quickly, well moderately quickly, found a seat. Armor covered the man from head to toe and there was a long blade strapped to his back. After the man's greeting, Briar mused at the fact everyone had a need to announce they were here for the guild as a final woman entered through the doors. And announced herself in a rather confident statement. She seemed a bit more cheerful than most. Lulu, as she referred to herself, seemed to spark a bit of movement with the woman in the corner as she rose and approached the center of the room.

The greeting was short and to the point, much to Briar's relief. He really didn't care for long hellos. Just say it and get it over with. And it seemed just as he thought this, someone else had a thought they needed to express as the black-clad man sitting with the white-haired woman stood and angrily addressed the newcomers. At the shoe remark, Briar couldn't resist the urge to look down at his boots. They weren't too big at all, in fact, they were perfectly sized for him from all the wear and tear he had put on them. Failing to resist another urge, he poked his brother in the ribs and pointed toward his feet and whispered, "I think he means you..." Though glancing back at the man, Briar found him on hands and knees, struggling against something unseen. Serves you right, jackass.

As the 'opening ceremonies' came to a close, the woman who seemed to be in charge introduced herself to them as Vera Lacross and introduced the rest of the crew around her in turn. Lastly, she settled on the white-haired woman and introduced her as Celica Rose. "Hello, it's a pleasure to meet you all," Celica greeted them.

Briar looked up and around inconspicuously and addressed Hoga in a hushed voice, "Just in case you were wondering what to get me for my birthday...."

The man still on the floor was introduced last out of them all and quickly recovered from whatever had been ailing him. Though the crick that suddenly appeared in Briar's neck gave him a small hint that magic had been involved. Vera took her leave after turning them all over to, what could be described as, possibly the scariest woman Briar had ever seen. She was covered in tattoos and looked as if she could, and probably would, take anyone's head off that approached her wrong. Though when a question got stuck in Briar's head, it stayed there until he voiced it. And one was starting to worm its' way to the front of his mind....

"Well," he began, "that was a....unique welcome." He couldn't help stressing the word, but continued with his question. "Miss Lacross mentioned something of an initiation? Some kind of pass or fail, you'll probably die, or just not come back here kind of thing. Where do we start?"

"When something ends, we open a door to a new start..."

"I am Hoga, and this is my brother, Briar. We have been invited here as well. Thank you for your kind welcome, milady."

So, it was true. There were others that had been invited to join the Dragon Scale guild. It was a rather comforting thought as she gave a polite smile. Unconsciously, Serafine had used one of her practiced smiles which she had learned to please certain personas in society. It was quite an odd thing where one should learn the proper way of smiling. When she had first believed it to be something that comes so naturally. Still, it had come across more of genuine than she had intended. It made her eyes of mahogany brown glimmer in a specific light and her beauty pronounced. In any case, her attention was soon taken away from a rather abrupt and awkward entrance of a well-armored man.

For a second, Serafine thought that members of the Xers Military had pinpointed her location. Yet upon close inspection and the heaving introduction present in the man's breath patterns, he was not what she had concluded. The man was also another newcomer that goes by the name, Kevkas Pegason. She wondered what had happened to him prior coming here. Perhaps, it was due to all that armor he wore. It must have been tiring to walk in such an apparel. However, who was she to judge a thing. Giving a thoughtful look, she finally caught a glimpse of a rather mysterious-looking male draped in black. However, she could tell that the material that the clothes were made of high quality. There was also the way he handled himself. He was definitely from a nobility or even royalty like her. It might cause certain problems to her if he was either. There was also a possibility that he must be just like her wanting to accomplish something by their own hands. As such, her curiosity wanted her to ask if that person was also a newcomer like the four of them. But before she could ask anyone, a lively and cheerful voice interceded.

"Hello everyone. You can call me Lulu. Now that I'm here all your worries are over."

This was the first time that Serafine was astonished by someone's energy. Most of the people, she had encountered were mild-tempered and calm. They would always mind the loudness of their tone as it was improper to be too exuberant in once tone for it was not of lady's manner. Those seemingly harmless things grew on her especially when you have always been reminded for the past 22 years of her life. Regardless, she found this female named Lulu interesting which was a good thing. The cheery energy Lulu dispersed seemed to liven the hall even by a bit which was quite nice to feel. It was then that a certain hooded person made its way to the center of the room. Serafine's eyes gazed at the person with careful observation. It was not long before this person spoke and her words filled the hall with much ease.

"Welcome to Dragon Scale, the number one guild in tier a guild that both deal has jurisdiction within and outside the kingdom,It is an honor to be chosen to be a member of this guild for it is already hard to simply join a lesser-guild let alone this one. You will be tested both on and out of the field, this is your initiation if you fail you are expelled but if you pass you are guaranteed a near permanent spot in this guild."

The idea of a test was quite normal in every way. This is what Serafine believes but she was not able to continue such a thought due to the rather sudden outburst of man that seated at one of the tables. Cherry brown eyes gazed at the man;s profile as she listened to the words that spilled forth from his mouth. She had read and heard from her own information gathering that the Dragon Scale guild suffered a great loss during the Moonless War of Tier. It was probably the main reason that new recruits like them were invited. At the same time, she could not deny the sentimentality and sadness the man was speaking of.

Image

"No one can replace anyone. The lives that had been lost will always be immeasurable. The people and the friends that have faded... We must never forget them..." Serafine spoke in a low audible tone. Although, she had no intentions for others to hear her words. She had intended for those words to linger inside her mind however, her lips moved in its own accord without much a hesitation. Her eyes delivered a distant sadness and seemed to lost in her own thoughts before reigning herself from plummeting deeper into her trance. Raising her head, she was unaware if anyone had heard her sentiments or found it odd. In any case, she looked as if such a thing never occurred.

Instead, Serafine was much taken aback by the sudden change in the demeanor of the man who had just rudely interrupted the sort of welcoming speech. He was now on the ground as if having a hard time. She had the urge to run towards the man and check if he was just fine. However, others did not seem too concern about it. This ailed her further and was about to voice her worry when the hooded person properly identified herself to them. Her name was Vera Lacross, the Guild Master. She had also took the time to introduce the others. It was short and simple as others simply smiled and gave them a nod. As for the one named Celica Rose, the female seemed kind and cheerful in a way as she greeted them with a bright smile. Then the last but not the least was the man named Raven Gray, the one who had an outburst. He seemed fine as he stood from the ground unharmed and went about his way. It would appear her concerns were unfounded and unneeded. Still, she wondered what exactly happened.

"Perhaps, magic?" This was question that she had hidden in her consciousness for the time being. Soon enough, Vera had left them to their own devices as another took over. This person was named Ava Frail if she remembered correctly. The woman was certainly intimidating in every way. But instead of being scared or fearful, Serafine was fascinated by her. She wondered if she could look just like Ava. Then, people would start to take her seriously and stop thinking she was too fragile or delicate to be placed in danger. In any case, this was the beginning of a new form of aspiration and goal. It was to become like this person named Ava. Taking a break from her new goal, she glanced at the man named Briar one the two men she had greeted earlier hearing his question. The Guild Master did inform them of a test to be taken. She wondered what kind it would be. No matter what she would make sure to pass. There was no way she would give up and ran back home. She rather choose death than doing that. With that, she spoke her resolve with determined eyes. There were no room of hesitation or doubt in her voice and expression. She was serious about all of this, a solid iron will.

"I am ready to face any trial whatever it may be. I truly want to join this guild at all costs. "

Kevkas examined everyone in turn. The back of his mind judging whether he could take them on in a battle. He looked at one of the newcomers who came before him. He was smaller than Kevkas...A lot smaller. Although everyone who was there was smaller than him. The two men were quite clearly brothers, they didn't look that much alike but something about them gave him that feeling they were either brothers or really close friends. It was then his attention was drawn to a woman who introduced herself as 'Lulu' she was confident and clearly quick on her feet. Kevkas examined everyone in the building. Two 'Brothers', A tall well-dressed man, A noble woman, Lulu and then the others. Now Kevkas wasn't much one to star at women but where was this guild getting them all? Every single one had a beauty. Kevkas knew to others he looks like some kind of noble warrior but that was far from the truth. He wasn't even middle-classed, he knew if he let people get to know him they'd eventually guess he was of the lower classes.

The Guild Leader then stood and began addressing the newcomers. She had planned something of an initiation. A test. If it was something physical Kevkas had it in the bag but something else....He wasn't so sure. Cecelia stood and greeted them all and Kevkas let out an audible whistle. Kevkas then immediately shut up. He didn't want to make an ass of himself anymore than he already did. Kevkas heard one of the 'brothers' speak up and Kevkas nodded along with him.

"Yeah. I wanna know what I'm getting myself in for."

Kevkas then looked at the young woman who spoke up. The noble looking woman. She was an interesting one for sure. The way she spoke carried a regal air about it while compared to Kevkas they were very very different. She was small and dainty and Kevkas was a mountain. He expected as much, Kevkas has never met someone taller than him they came close but they were never quite taller.

Lucrecia Prime

Lulu peered around the room after her cheerful greeting sizing up many of the other members. Immediately after her arrival a woman in the corner began to walk into light and speak. Her eyes were golden and began to shimmer in the light. The woman began to introduce herself and welcome the new members.

"Welcome to Dragon Scale, the number one guild in tier a guild that both deal has jurisdiction within and outside the kingdom," Her voice echoed in the room which only strengthened her uneasiness, this was not her style but she had to do it nonetheless. Before she could finish speaking an older gentleman dressed in black fur with interrupted her. "These are no members of Dragon Scale," The outburst silenced Vera as Raven stood and spoke his mind, "our true members, our family are buried and engraved on tombstones. We are doing nothing more than replacing them with chumps that can barely fit in their shoes." Lulu paused for a moment trying to think of a witty remark or comeback. The best she could come up with at the time was to make fun of his eyepatch. By the time she thought of something the black haired man was on the ground with his hand between his knees trembling. This was a sensation she knew all too well. Growing up on the twilight islands were magic is everywhere many aren't able to control their aura. Seeing the man trembling like a child in front of the newbies she decided to save her witty remark for a later date. The guildmaster made her exit and tuned things over to the "MOST AWESOME, COOL LOOKING, and INTIMIDATING woman Lulu had ever seen." The woman had her gold and black sword half drawn from the situation earlier. She had countless tattoos all over her body. Lulu's eyes were as wide as the moon as she began trying to count the number of tattoos the woman had. Lulu was closely stalking Ava still counting tattoos when she heard Ava speak. "The initiation will commence momentarily, first join me in the back." Lulu paused for a second after she realized that she had not been paying attention to anything that occurred before. "Initiation what initiation? Do we get to blow something up? Will there be a fight? How about a cute kitty cats will there be any there? Will the scary looking eyepatch guy put his head between his legs and start crying again? Do we have to guess how many tattoos you have? How many tattoos do you have? Where did you get them? Are they special or for show?"....A numerous amount of excitable irrelevant questions spewed from Lulu aimed at Ava.

It seemed the rest of the recruits seemed to arrive all around the same time. After he had arrived, so had two women and a knight of some sort. The first one was dignified and had an obvious practiced regality to her speech and movements. He wondered what a girl like that was doing in a place and situation like this. Perhaps if they both made it through the initiation and they got to know one another better, he might even ask her.

The second woman definitely had a fee and energetic air about her. He took her as the kind of person who would bow to no master and just wants to have a good time. She seemed a friendly lively sort that would offer a lot to this dreary hall. Artemis could smell that her hair had been sprayed with sea salt and her skin was finely tanned. She must have grown up among the Twilight Islands.....interesting.

The knight was a rather large man, just about an inch higher than himself and by the look of it several pounds heavier. He smelled.....well he smelled, to put it simply. Mainly like sweat, he must've been in some sort of fight before he got here. A strong warrior then.....or an eager one, at least. He could tell he was sizing up every single person in the guild, probably running it through his head which ones he could take in a fight. It seemed that this man was very unnacustomed to how Mages and Guilds work. The power of a mage has very little to do with ones physical prowess, but mental. Though, he felt this man may be lacking in that department a bit.

After they all had arrived, Master Lacross made a rather impromptu speech. It was rather short, to the point, yet he could sense she was uncomfortable. After she was finished, the man in black who he believed his name was Raven, stood up and spoke his true feelings on the situation. He was releasing a lot of his Magical power, though it seemed to be firmly in tune with his emotions, not intent. Artemis sympathized with the man, he knew exactly how he felt, more than he would probably realize.

It was at this time were a series of events unrolled which Artemis struggled to keep up with. Raven was silenced and Master Lacross handed their initiation over to Ava Frail. The young woman who had introduced herself as Serafine, had made a statement about what Raven had said, and it touched him. Though, the woman named Lulu seemed hardly sympathetic towards the loss of their guild mates, and even went so far as to make a potshot at Raven for speaking his mind. Opinion of Lulu, lowered severely. The man named Hoga seemed to be very polite and well mannered. Artemis believed they would get along well.

It was at this time Ava decided that they should move to the back of the Guild Hall, outside. He then began to make his way out there after the sweet woman named Celica gave them a small motivator. As he made his way outside, he suddenly realized that he was the only one who had not introduced himself. In fact, he was fairly certain that the only one who knew his name was Vera. HE thought about introducing himself to the rest, but, decided against it. If they asked for his name, then he would give it. until then, let them call him whatever they want.

Soon, he was out the back and heading towards the rest.

"First you must decide, then you must follow through. That is the only way one can get anything accomplished...."

Completely oblivious, Serafine had no idea that her words about those who should never be forgotten were heard by others. It only dawned on her when Ava one of her recently found idols spoke while looking at her direction. "That is very true." The pieces finally connected and a light blush appeared on her cheeks, It made a lovely pink canvass on her face. As a result, she lowered her head which was quite adorable in a way. She was not the kind to get easily embarrassed, however, she was flustered by the fact that her words were heard without her intention. At the same time, she did not want to appear an intrusive person on affairs that she had no connections with. Although, she was thankful that somehow it brought a certain warmth to the dreary atmosphere of the Guild Hall. The man named Raven who had a sudden outburst appeared to have calmed down even for a bit. Perhaps, it was enough to know that no one will be replaced and every one will be remembered. It was a comforting fact to know even to her.

"The initiation will commence momentarily, first join me in the back." When the topic about the test was discussed, Serafine raised her head. Her shyness was dispersed and those mahogany brown eyes sparked with unyielding determination. Ava walked away and lead them to a door at the back. Without a hesitation, she followed along with the others. No matter what the trial could be, she would not back down from it. She would face it and receive death for failing than not trying at all. The other members of the guild had also followed and the one named Euan even commented about the sudden disappearance of Ava, It seemed that such a case was normal. After that, the woman who was more smaller than her which was a comforting thought gave a few words of encouragement. Most of her life, she has always been commented to be delicate, petite, and fragile-looking. It was a good thing to share such labels with another. In any case, she followed behind the rest.

It was in that instance that Serafine trailed behind the rather tall and mysterious man clad in black. She looked up at him and wonder what kind of person he was. Among everyone else, he seems more refined and well-mannered than the others. It was a pleasant thing to observe although, she could not help but wonder if he was also a noble that had managed to join in the truly inner circles of society. Her identity might be found out if that was a case. There was no doubt in her mind the possibility of insurrection once her origins will be known. It also does not help that she was an individual with magical prowess. The mere thought of a Royalty from her Fallen Nation like her wield such a thing could cause quite a rippling effect of panic. Although, she has no intentions to do such a thing. So, it would be better if no one finds out about who she was truly. In any case, she cannot help but be curious about the identity of the man. Once they were outside, she took the opportunity to properly ask him.

"Please pardon my interruption, good Sir. I have not heard your name yet. I am Serafine, It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." Doing a small bow, Serafine reached out her hand for a courteous handshake accompanied by a polite smile.

Briar would normally be one of the first ones to jump headfirst into almost any situation, but was a bit reluctant to follow Ava through the back door in this case. "Sure!" He exclaimed to no one in particular. "Why not follow the creepy lady around the back. Maybe she'll even have some candy for us and a dark and windowless chariot to hop into!" Though there was no point in hanging around waiting, Briar couldn't help but wonder at the situation. His train of thought was interrupted at the onslaught of questions from the tanned and athletic-looking Lulu.

Are they special or for show?"

It was alot harder to keep a straight face after that and Briar barked a laugh in response, but immediately cut it off as the man named Euan rose and followed the disappearing act that was Ava out the back. Celica stood as well and said a few words as she departed after the two, followed almost immediately by the taller, unnamed man and Serafine. As they disappeared through the door as well, Briar let out a sigh and headed toward the same destination. Raven seemed like the only one of the established guild members that wasn't leaving the room just yet, still settled in his chair with his drink in front of him. Making a point to deliberately walk past the man's chair, Briar had wanted to make a quick jape about the 'warm welcome' he gave the rest of the newcomers. But as he neared the man, he knew he couldn't. The man may seem like an ass, but he was an ass for his fallen comrades, maybe even friends. I'd probably be worse, he thought to himself.

Pausing his pursuit of the backdoor, Briar stole a glance back at Hoga before laying a hand on Raven's shoulder. Without a word, Briar removed the hand and continued on through the room. Passing the bar, he shook off the unnecessary emotions and continued on. A slight smell of perfume hung in the air as he neared the door. Perhaps it belonged to Celica? Serafine was the last woman through the door so far, it could be hers as well, although he hadn't smelled it when she was conversing with his brother. Hell, it might even be the unnamed man's, he looked.....dainty..?

Grasping the handle instead of just walking through the door, Briar gave a turn and stepped through to join the others already there. "Alright, so where's this candy...?"

#, as written by Hoga
More people slowly made their way into the guild hall. A large armored man, and another woman. Between them and the 4 of them that had already walked in, it looked like six people in all were invited. As with the young woman, he would leave his judgement for late. Besides, he was sure he wasn't going to get much of a chance to observe them for much longer, as one of the members began to address them.

Hoga sat patiently through the initial "briefing", for lack of a better word. At the mention of them becoming new members, an existing member made a comment about them.

"These are no members of Dragon Scale," The outburst silenced Vera as Raven stood and spoke his mind, "our true members, our family are buried and engraved on tombstones. We are doing nothing more than replacing them with chumps that can barely fit in their shoes."

He was caught off guard when a heavy, almost malevolent magic aura came from the man named Raven. Hoga was calm. He'd faced his death more then once in the wild, and fought enough battles to be able to easily keep his head, but the crushing weight of magic that was attempting to to bring him to his knees made him feel uneasy, and almost fearful. He saw the pain in anguish in the man, and knew that even with the heavy, dark aura coming form him, he meant none of them harm. His words carried weight. He felt as if the out lash was not directed at them directly, but the situation that brought them here. He looked to be in much pain, and Hoga decided confronting him would be something left for later.

"The initiation will commence momentarily, first join me in the back." Said Ava. Initiation? What did that involve? A demonstration of their powers? Battles? A mission even? He didn't know, but Hoga quickly cleared his mind, readying it to be able to be filled with whatever mindset he needed for the task.

He watched Briar bravely approach the man Raven, and then walked into the back. Hoga decided to linger no longer, and quickly followed suit with the rest into the back.

As Artemis stood outside, waiting for Miss Frail to begin whatever it was they were to do, he began to ponder what guild life would be like. It had been a long time since Artemis had socialized with any large number of people. In fact, he could not recall the last real conversation with someone. The thought saddened him, for if he found someone to speak with, he could talk for hours. Though....only if he felt comfortable with them.......and the topic was right......his invisible eyebrows furrowed. Who was he kidding, he had been avoiding human contact for human contact for awhile now, well, social contact any way. The more he thought about it, a guild would be a terrible place for him, he would always feel on edge and nervous. He had never done well in crowds, maybe he should leave.....

No.

No more running away.

No more being scared.

It was time to man up and face the world.

Through this entire thought process, nothing had visibly changed in Artemis' face. He seemed to be standing there, still as a statue behind the Guild Hall. He must not have been standing out there long, since it seemed now that the others had just began to arrive. It seemed the Kontan brothers and miss Serafine. It was at this point where Artemis got a little nervous, though it didn't show, as Serafine seemed to approach him with purpose.

She walked up to him and said, "Please pardon my interruption, good Sir. I have not heard your name yet. I am Serafine, It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." Doing a small bow, Serafine reached out her hand for a courteous handshake accompanied by a polite smile.

He seemed a little hesitant at first, but then reached his long arm down and gripped her hand lightly and gave it a polite shake. "Artemis, likewise." He stated simply with only a small, polite inflection in his voice. It seemed to be followed what looked to be the ghost of a smile from his lips. Though, it appeared so suddenly and disappeared so fast, one might even think it an illusion.

Artemis then retracted his hand and returned it to his side. Artemis wasn't exactly sure what he should do next. Was their conversation over? Was the girl's curiosity satiated? He was terrible a things like this. So he just sort kept his head in her direction, though the girl couldn't see his eyes.

#, as written by Hoga
Hoga walked out into the courtyard to see a fair sized amount of land. It was obviously used for training and the such. The ground was battered in some places, and there were marks on a number of the trees in the area. He walked some way until Ava stopped, at which point he and the rest of the potential members followed suit.

"The initiation is simple, you must survive five minutes in the ring with me, you fail if you fall unconscious, immobile, or die. I will be taking it up a notch every minute that passes and there are no rules aside from leaving the guild's backyard. You can run, hide, fight back, or team up it doesn't matter I am your only opponent."

"Seems simple enough..." Hoga thought to himself. But he knew not to let his guard down. He was sure Ava had some tricks. underestimating someone's powers were never a good idea. Hoga removed his hand from his jacket, and placed his hand on his blade. He activated his magic. Time read. The strangely euphoric feel that accompanied his magic flowed over his entire body. His eye's glossed over, a normal side effect of his magic. He decided to focus his magic on Ava individually. He was glad he activated his magic as he did. As Ava said, "Let the initiation begin.", Hoga saw what would happen next.

He only ever caught glimpses, quick images. He could choose to let entire scenes play out, but it took too long in the middle of battle, and it made it hard to come back from. He wasn't viewing the future and the present at the same time. He had a vulnerable half second where he was catching his glimpses, where he could not see the present. His experiance and reflexes over time had made this mean almost nothing, but it was always a concern, and he was afraid it would be with Ava's speed. Speed that would close the gap between her and Briar in an instant, and then launch an attack at him and the others.

Hoga came back to the present, Ava just about to start her move. Hoga tapped Briar's hand, their signal for incoming danger. Briar picked up on it, and partially reacted to the attack. Hoga then yelled for the others, just as Ava finished her Attack on Briar. "MOVE IT!" Hoga rolled to the side, hoping the others would dodge the incoming electric blast.

Hoga looked to Briar at the end of his roll. Hoga, looked to his blade. He slid it out slightly, then sheathed it. It was to let Briar know not to directly attack. The smarter idea here was to play a game of attrition, especially considering the power coming from Ava.

"The strongest weapon sometimes is the mind..."

"Artemis, likewise."

This was the name that the nobleman had given her. Serafine provided a grateful smile and was also appreciative to the fact that her hand was not ignored. Honestly, she had thought the possibility of being rejected. She was not really sure how would things turn out if that were the case. Fortunately, it did not end that way. "Artemis, it has a nice ring to it." She noted with a small smile while trying to speak his name. Somehow, she liked his name and wanted to inform him. At the same time, she had not met a noble by that name and she would remember if she did. So, her wariness was somewhat lifted from her shoulders. In any case, she did not avert her eyes on the mysterious noble even when his eyes were out of her sight. She wondered what his eyes were like. However, the notion was put on hold when she heard the words of Ava.

Those words sunk into her as Serafine pondered on them. So, this was a test of how they would adapt to such situations. Their strengths, their determination, their adjustment, and their affinity shall be put into consideration. If that was the case, she should converse with her teammates about their stratagem. This would be more efficient than all of them recklessly attacking from all corners without a thought. However before she could do so, Ava had already began the initiation without skipping a beat.

"Let the initiation begin."

With unbelievable speed, Ava was already striking Briar with what she could only identify as "An electricity mage!". Serafine inwardly exclaimed as she watched the next scene unfold before her. Briar was able to defend himself and seemed to have a great amount of tolerance to pain. She could tell as the current of electricity which is directly delivered to the body should cause a sense of numbness and searing pain. Yet, Briar seemed unfazed from all of it. On another note, Hoga appeared to have known the incoming attack. She wondered if it was just due to heightened senses or more. In any case, her attention was completely taken by the blast heading towards Hoga and some of it was also headed her way. Bracing herself, she waited for the hit yet, it never came.

"I have just grounded her lightning. I will protect you from her blasts. Lightning has no choice but to strike the most conductive thing, which at this time.....is me."

Looking at Artemis, Serafine felt a certain sense of comfort in those words. "Thank you." She managed to say towards him. Although, the moment was taken by the cheer provided by Lulu. Directing her eyes to where it came from, she wondered how Lulu got there. Did the other girl also had the same speed similar to Ava or there was something else at work? However, it seemed she would not wait too long to know the answer as Lulu joined in with the attack. Knives that had been thrown were now transferred to where Ava was. "Teleportation?" She asked inwardly. It seemed that the other recruits were truly not to be taken lightly. Well, she could not expect less from being invited by Dragon Scale.

With that thought, Serafine took out which looks like a small stick from her pocket. After wards, she stretched it to become a well-crafted bow. When done, she moved away to a preferred distance as she knew that Hoga and Briar would take close-quarter combat. As for Artemis, he would be in support while Lulu and her would likely be the one in charge of long-range attacks. Setting her bow, she took out a small stick from her other pocket which elongated into an arrow. She prepped it and aimed it towards Ava. "Let us do this then." After saying that, she released the arrow with one point in mind Ava's head. As such, the trajectory of the arrow that flew in such a straight path suddenly went upwards and then downwards to attack Ava from above

Ava didn't seem to be all that concerned that she was being attacked simultainously from several directions. Her mental discipline must have been extreme for her to remain so calm in the midst of a six on one fight. Though, he seemed to have gotten to her by grounding her attack. It seemed she realized that her magic would be useless against him. If Artemis was the kind of man, he might have sneered at her, but he wasn't, so his face remained ever placid.

Then, after Ava had deflected both Lulu and Serafine's attacks, she started to address him directly. "Let's see if your resistance is up to my lightning." She then lifted one of her hands towards him.

Artemis readied himself for another grounding, when felt a strong presence above him. When he looked up, he saw Ava's magic circle above him. A lightning strike? No problem. Then, another magic circle appeared directly below that one. Two tier lightning strike? Interesting, but still, he knew he could ground it. That was when a third one appeared below the other two. Three tiered lightning strike from the strongest mage in Dragon Scale? Artemis gave a quick look over to Serafine. Then, flung his arms up, just as the lightning fully engulfed his body.

Smoke and steam filled the area surrounding Artemis, keeping his fate hidden behind a fog.

Soon, a faint sound could be heard, but not identified. Then, a silver and orange light could be seen from behind the smoke. When it finally cleared, Artemis could be seen with his arms directly upwards. A large silver magic circle was both above and below him. Hundreds of red hot glowing wires surrounded him in a very intricate pattern, it almost looked like a sculpture of some kind. The ground around him was scorched and blackened. The fringes of his hair seemed to be smoldering and his whole body was steaming. Oddly enough, his clothes seemed perfectly fine and untouched. His shoes also seemed to be glowing hot.

Artemis slowly put his arms down, then looked over to Ava. Sweat could be seen dripping down from his hair. "Ow." Artemis stated with literally no emotion.

Artemis quickly realized he suddenly had some very interesting new weapons. Seating hot garrote wires and shoes. He needed to act quickly. He was going to be drained here pretty soon, but everyone else was still pretty fresh. If he could last just a little bit longer, the others should be able to pass.

Artemis placed both of his hands in front of him, index and middle fingers extended. "Polarity shift" a silver magic circle appeared in front of his hands. Suddenly, Artemis could feel the metal in Ava's face guard. Then, a silver magic circle would appear directly over her face. Artemis then quickly crossed his extended fingers into an x formation. "Attract." he said with conviction.

Artemis rose off the ground by about 4 inches, the shot wards Ava at a rather impressive speed. The red hot wires circling his body like a tornado. He was suddenly moving towards Ava like a molten shredder. He was also now locked onto her, wherever she would go, so would he. Artemis also wasn't worried about how team mates, he would be able to control his movements enough to avoid.

He wouldn't normally try such a bold move, then again, he wouldn't normally be fighting alongside other people. Why did he feel such a want to help them and protect them? Was he that desperate for companionship that he would sacrifice his own chance at Dragon Scale so they could get theirs? Oh well, too late now. He was probably going to put of magic before the five minutes were up and lose.....but, he didn't care. He was having too much fun fighting Ava.

Lulu smirked as Ava easily snatched each of the four knives out of the air with her left hand. She tilted her head slightly avoiding an arrow shot by the other female initiate witch grazed her cheek. She then attempted to nullify the mage that was negating her lightning by forming a multi tier magic circle above his head. Lulu had let her guard down watching the multi tier magic circle form. She was about to lend assistance to the noble looking mage when Ava appeared in front of her and quickly grabbed her wrist. Lulu immediately realized Ava did not have much experience combating teleport mages. Many opponents are wary of touching them for fear of being teleported to the center of a volcano or deep within an ocean. Luckily for Ava, Lulu had not perfected her skill to enable her to transport out of her line of sight. Ava's presence was immediately followed with a flurry of incredibly fast punches. Lulu created several small translucent circles approximately 2 centimeters from her body to redirect the attacks to another location. Lulu began to parry and dodge some of the attacks that slipped through in a dancing manner utilizing small calculated steps and striking back at opportune moments.

Once Ava's flurry of punches began to slow down Lulu grabbed Ava's forearm with the hand where Ava grabbed her wrist. She spun under her arm and grabbed her forearm with both hands and immediately teleported Ava and herself straight in the air. After two separate teleportations she managed to lift herself and Ava approximately 75 feet off the ground directly above Hoga and Briar. She then used her falling momentum to spin around breaking Ava's hold on her wrist. Once she was separated she teleported herself next to the Archer panting slightly heavier. As she watched Ava's inertia began to propel her to the ground faster and faster she shouted with a large smile on her face "LET'S SEE IF YOU CAN FLY AS WELL". Lulu watched excitedly to see how Ava would escape the fall. Even if she could Hoga and Briar were directly below and she would have to avoid their strikes as well.

Her smile suddenly vanished as she thought too herself," uh oh I hope she can fly. She can move around extremely fast on the ground but in the air there is nothing to move on. How is she going to escape the fall. She better not die. I just know I'm going to get in trouble if she dies." Her heavy breathing slowed as she watched the situation unfold with a sense of worry over her face.

"It is better to fight with someone than against someone..."

Effortlessly, Ava had deflected all of the strikes towards her person. The knives were discarded while the arrow was dodged but it came with a small price which was a cut on her face to prove its existence. Serafine's eyes narrowed at Ava's reaction. It seemed that attacks like those would be meaningless. They would need to do more than that to faze this Dragon Scale Mage. Well, she did expect such a thing. An initiation would be completely useless if it would done without much of a sweat. In any case, the arrow which Ava avoided earlier returned to Serafine's hand without her need to touch it. Her thoughts were currently processing a such a speed to conduct a smooth battle plan. However, her attention was taken by Ava's statement towards Artemis.

"Let's see if your resistance is up to my lightning."

ImageA three-tier magic circle appeared on top of Artemis. There was no need for an explanation what kind of strength such a magic could deliver. Serafine looked at Artemis to tell him to escape but that brief gaze that he gave her silenced her completely. He was not going to run. The magic which Ava delivered will be faced by him directly. Then, it brought down a massive lightning down of Artemis. All Serafine could do was watch in horror. Her eyes of mahogany brown widened with disbelief as she heard herself shouting in shock and worry. "Artemis!". The point of collision caused an explosive amount of dust to block anyone's line of sight.

There was no movement within the cloud of dust that engulfed Artemis. Serafine knew that being a Mage of a Guild will always meant to be in the companions of danger and death. However, she was not wholly convinced that this initiation would bring that to reality. It was expected to get a few scrapes from here and there even if, Ava had stated it earlier. "If yah aren't going to take this seriously I will have to. This is life and death, kill or be killed." Those words rang in her head over and over again until a faint light emitted from the thinning dust cloud. Soon, it revealed Artemis still alive and well. She could not help but feel relief flooding her body. It was good nothing happened to him. "You are safe... That is wonderful..." She spoke in an almost breathless voice. It was then she noticed a flurry of punches brought to Lulu.

The exchange soon ended with Lulu suddenly appearing beside Serafine. She looked at the female beside her. Lulu was breathing heavily which meant that using her magic and the bombardment of blows by Ava had tired her. It was good that Lulu was not greatly harmed, yet there was one thing she noticed. It was the show of concern on Lulu's face. It would seem this girl was not all about fun and games. With that, Serafine focused her attention once more towards the falling Ava while Artemis was launching his own attack. The man now resembled a metal shredder going towards Ava. She was certain that her next move would be a turning point for her. At the same time, she was very certain there were going to be a lot of varying opinion on what she was about to do. However, this is what she believes.

Without further ado, the arrows she had carried with her person and from her luggage came out of their hiding places and went towards Ava. However, they were not there for harming. They were being called upon for a different matter all together. It served as a cushion net for Ava as the pull of gravity on her was being lessen by the second. Although, she knew that Ava did not need her help on that matter. On the other matter, she focused on the steel wires that wrapped around Artemis' body. The said wires should loosened its grip around Artemis' body. Further mental prowess, she would be able to divert the trajectory of his attack to a mere tangent. When it was successful, the strain could be seen on her rather hazy eyes.

"Kill or be killed? I am not a sympathizer for such a thing. I understand that we will be put into a situation that would put our lives in the hands of death. I know knowing our limits is important. And at some point, there would be a time where destroying everything in our path could be the only viable option. But do understand, I make my own choices. So, I will chose to defeat you and survive. As such, I will not allow the hands of my allies to suffer the feeling of being left behind again."

Upon delivering her words, Serafine's eyes seemed to glow ever so briefly. The ground beneath them were shaking and bits of the soil were floating around her. Some of the arrows that were not used hovered around her. A magic circle was not needed for her ability, although there are still some techniques that require such from time to time.
