He wears his hair rather ‘devil less care’ and mainly just keeps a casual smile on his face. He has bad eyesight when it comes to reading so he does wear reading glasses, and his smile is usually unwavering. He wears rather classy clothing and his version of casual is not so casual at all, a typical trait among mages. He has a tendency to wear three piece suits but never seems uncomfortable in them, often wearing them without ties or fuss. He also has a watch that he always wears and a cane from his father that was a gift upon his entrance into the Academy.

Desmond is not so quick to jump to conclusions about current events, though he will voice his suspicions rather vocally. He has great admiration for Archmagus Kalius and was a student of the man for a few months during an internship in the summer of his 5th term. This has screwed his views slightly as he is very supportive of the man thusly and rather blunt to denounce those who are not. His parents were both Naturals, though they were political activists, and he has an inherent love for them thusly.

This cane was a gift given to him by his father, it is one of his favorite items and while he finds he has little use for it the fact remains that he carries it with him to most places in the capitol, not uncommon since many mages carry whole staffs for show.

This watch was his grandfathers, a man who was a Mage and worked on the Council for years until an accident ended his life. This watch is magic in that the centerpiece is free floating and while it doesn’t have any amplifying powers the item does tell him the time where he is and with a blink of an eye it will tell him the time of the place he most wants, or need to be.

History

History

Family & Early Life- Desmond’s mother and father are both Naturals, though his grandfather on his father’s side is a Mage, a very powerful one at that, or was before he died. He was raised in a suburb of the Capitol where every family had a mage in the house, though he did grow up with an affection for Naturals. His first real girlfriend was a Natural and his parents left a strong impression on him, he’s often the first to stand up for a Natural and the last to fall back down.

Education- He was trained at Carnes Academy for the Magically Gifted and Politically Aware; a school for both more prominent Mages who test highly on the aptitude exams before applying and politically ambitious Naturals whose families have the connections in the Capitol. The boy was a prodigy and called a genius when he graduated top of his class a two years early, this is no surprise to anyone though, his ambition is to become the Archmagus, and many of his former professors think he’ll do it one day.

General and/or Other- He worked as an intern under the Archmagus for a few months after his graduation and now has a full time position on the hill where he’ll be leading the new group of up and coming mages in their first steps toward the next stage of their lives.

Desmond glanced down at his watch, “Twenty minutes…” he silently made room at the back of his mind to count the seconds. 1200 and counting. That was child’s play for a Mage, their minds were capable of such feats of focus while also being active on other things. Desmond was riding in the limousine to the crest of Capitol Hill, of course the others would be arriving by cab or some other means this fine morning ,something they did to ensure the new guys didn’t get big egos is to ensure they spared every expense on the travel. That would change though. He still remembered his first day on the hill; he’d been called on to aid in a containment spell at the assembly and had instead ended up freezing both the loose magics and three of his coworkers.

Of course things would hopefully not be so disastrous with this latest batch. He’d been given the job of watching over the new staff that would be joining the leading party at the time in their duties, which would be more interesting than actually doing the duties himself. He remembered come to the hill and thinking he’d be busy getting into duels or being sent out to wrangle loose demons or something not being a secretary, but you live and learn. And these new kids who would be arriving by taxi or subway would no doubt think the same as he did. “Too bad things aren’t always so exciting out there… “he mused. The Driver glanced back at him.

“Sir?”

“Huh, oh sorry James, I was just thinking out loud… how's the family?” he proceeded to convers in engaging small talk with someone most mages wouldn’t bother with and thus showed his talent, he was charming, and his ambition was not only large but attainable. He exited the limo and bid his driver a good day, saying they needed to grab lunch together sometime soon on him and catch up, 260 seconds to go…
