History: Piper was born into the higher class and from a young age was planned to be married to another high ranking family and go on to just like her parents live a perfectly well and arranged life. Now while this might seem charming Piper grew up feisty and already at age 6 refused to be betrothed to some random man who was younger then her no less! One day while Piper was doing her routine weakly 'running away from home' she found herself witnessing a fire and even at her small age Piper wanted to help. So she dove right into the flames. While the flame's did burn her right arm and left eye beyond repair, Piper actually did do some good in rescuing a kitten. But her parents kitten saved or not were furious they could not betroth 'damaged goods' so the responsibility of the marriage fell too Piper's younger sister who actually was pleased with the idea of the rich pampered life. Piper on the other hand refusing to just become an injured bird fought through her parents belittling of her and her sisters taunting instead she spent her days wandering the city until she came across a black smith who taught Piper the trick of the trade and before long she was playing with fire melding gear and armor and even building replacements for her burnt body she literally cut off her arm but simply got her left eye removed. She does not often go into detail about if it hurt of not truth is the blacksmith helped by keeping her half asleep for 3 days after the operation. So here today Piper is still in training at the blacksmith practicing her magic and hoping to live a long life full of adventure... and cats.

Personality:
Piper is wild and fighsty like the rocks of the earth nothing fazes her for her sheer determination. She has a great sense of justice and loyalty but many fear she is... Well a little bonkers. They thing its mixing so many limbs and an eye. She is quite rash and odd asking strange questions or doing strange things she doesn't ever judge people on class or ability but who they are thus making her a good person to hang around she she has many negatives like sometimes not knowing when to stop or when to not try jumping off a bridge and nearly sinking to her death... Twice because of a dare.

Basic Powers: Earth and Light

Class:
Upper class.

Class Power: Piper prefers to use a bow and arrow she's learned to create. Because of her small stature she makes a perfect sniper and her stranger combination of basic powers allows her to make her arrows really pack a punch. But at times if her metal arm gets stuck it can be a bother... There also her eye which can be useful for zooming in but distracting for figuring out range.

So begins...

Piper awoke her head down on a desk. She lifted her head slowly and rubbed the red mark on her forehead. She yawned and stood up slowly stretching. This was the third time this week she'd fallen asleep in the blacksmith's. Feeling groggy Piper stood and walked around until she felt awake then she head out of the back into the main room where the owner of the shop an old man without children but a kind wife who treated Piper like her own daughter. The grizzly old man looked up at Piper and chuckled. "Fell asleep instead of going home again?" Piper blushed and nodded. The old man chuckled and gestured to a pile of weapons armors and other things the blacksmith had created with Piper's help. "Will you set up and man the outdoor sale today?" Piper smiled and nodded again.

Opening the door of the blacksmith wide she set out 3 tables and set a white cloth over it. She grabbed the tools and weapons and set them out over the 3 tables in a display. After that she grabbed a chair and sat down. Days would sometimes go by like this. Early morning Piper would man the store outside or inside other days when the store would be hers to run she would take in custom orders. The days were long and Piper was not being payed but she loved it all the same even despite the fact it was a blacksmith in the lower district. But oddly enough Piper preferred the lower district it was comfortable and welcoming unlike the pompous pampered higher district. And the blacksmith and his wife treated her like there daughter and even fed her and in return Piper worked for them and helped attract customers with her metal arm and eye.

Speaking of attracting customers it was about time Piper worked her charm. Standing up piper spun her metal arm the joint's spinning all the way around before locking in place the right way round. "Welcome to Sabara's Blacksmith~ Finest in the district! We have it all armor, tools, weapons. Custom orders inside!" There were a few people who seemed intrigued and walked over asking Piper about her arm her eye or her wares. Piper smiled and happily told the guest of Gallus the story of her arm and how it was her first custom order completed. While the people awed and ood or looked over the wares Piper watched people walk by talking about some commotion involving the police and coins. 'What could be going on?' Piper wondered as she ran her still good hand over her metallic one...

Kaine was walking by several ordinary shops, nothing truly attracting his attention, beginning to become a little let down that nothing exciting seemed to be going on just yet. Of course, it was still early in the morning; the sun had only just rose a few hours ago, and people were still just starting their day.

After a short walk only a few yards from where the 2 "thieves" had dropped their coins, Kaine noticed a blacksmith's shop. Smiling at the sight, Kaine reminisced over the good times he spent working at Joseph's shop back in his village. "Hm, I wonder if they're any good..." pondered Kaine, to himself, now about to pass it up, thinking he had no interest in buying any weapons. However, just as he was about to continue down the street, a gleam of gold struck his vision, and immediately stole his attention away.

Upon further inspection, Kaine found the source of the gleam to be a young girl with a metal arm and eye, tending to the blacksmith's shop in which he was only just about to pass up. "Wow!" he exclaimed, now hopping on over to the young thing, looking absolutely happy to see something so intriguing. The young girl seemed quite popular indeed, as many passersby were stopping to take a look, although most continued on, their reason likely being that they were locals who have seen her presentation one too many times.

Kaine was the most noticeable stranger among the small crowd of people that were gathering around the young girl, being the only one to run through everyone, going straight up to her and shouting at, "Hey! You're an interesting little fellow! How are you making your arm do that? Does it have a mind of its own? Where can I get one? Does it hurt? And where's your REAL arm? Oh, and what about that EYE of yours as well -- I didn't see that~! Does it allow you to see even better than normal? Or very far away? Or NO, wait! Does it let you see THROUGH things? Can you see my guts right now?" His questions seemed endless as he went on, asking all about her arm and eye, as if he'd never seen or even heard of mechanical limbs and attachments before today. Looking like a child with everything in the world to learn at once, he eagerly awaited her answer...

Piper blinked her one good eye as a stranger walked up asking question. She laughed and smiled letting her mechanical arm spin around once more before locking into place. The she went to adjust the gears on her mechanical eye causing it too zoom in and out. "My real arm? Well burnt and then cut off but eye burnt then removed..." She smiled. "My eye cannot see through things... Though I should consider adding that feature indeed." She smirked and pondered the idea. "Oh? Hurt? Not really well... I mean the cutting it off part hurt but that was my own fault... But aside that doesn't hurt... As for making it do that... Well you see using various wires and gears and hooking it up to my muscles I can move it as a person would a human arm but the flippy thingy is a trick I added so that I could move it better... I can show you the inner workings if you'd like?"

Piper picked up a screw driver quite prepared to show the man the inner workings and gears when she paused. "I haven't seen you around here... Hmp I should introduce myself." Piper threw the screw driver into the air and caught it on the way down with a bow. "Name's Piper Bandenged stranger I'm the trainee of the blacksmith here and a tinkerer I made this arm and eye nearly by myself when I was what... 10 or something well... I admit I had some help or quite some help... Anyway welcome to Gallus." She held out her mechanical while her mechanical eye preoccupied itself at zooming in on the young mans face catching in his details.

The people around the stall began to wander off or went inside too talk to the blacksmith. "Oh and sense your new here if you need anything just ask I don't mind helping out the new people here. But be warned you hang around me and you better be able to keep up this extra metal doesn't keep me on the ground." She gave a crooked grin cocking her head to the right a little as she often did without realizing and sending her short wild white hair tumbling over her face.

Despite not losing his gentle smile, Kaine's mind was buzzing with the information in which he had just received, thinking over her words and explanations, as well as her kind greeting and introduction -- simply overjoyed to see her little display of talent by catching her screw driver the way that she had. He could feel himself becoming more and more interested in the little woman known as Piper Bandenged. Eager to learn more about her, he opened with a friendly greeting of his own.

"Ha, you're cute." said Kaine, simply. "And that was a fancy little display you just put on! Yeah, I helped out the local blacksmith of my village for the past 10 years myself! Although, I doubt I could ever craft something as fancy as what you claim to have made, haha. Oh, and before I forget -- your kind greeting! I'll return the favor in full; my name's Kaine! Haha, or at least, that's what the people where I'm from call me!" Kaine's hand reached out, a beaming smile displayed across his face, waiting for Piper's hand to return the gesture. "And don't worry about me keeping up with you -- I'm pretty fast, honest." Kaine finished with a wink, oblivious to her figure of speech, as he often was when it came to sly wordplay.

Piper blushed when he called her cute and huffed defiantly. She was not use to being called cute... Then again her small stature probably did give her the impression of being such. "Well it's really not fancy like I said I had some help..." Piper watched as a young woman arrived and began browsing the wares and taking a few things. Keeping one eye on the young woman she smiled. "Alright Kaine no last name hun?" She shook his hand in greeting and laughed as he quite confidently replied to her offer.

Piper pulled her hand up and adjusted her mechanical eye once more when the young woman walked over asking about charms and jewels. "Our more expensive things like that are kept inside... The blacksmith Mr.Sabara is the one who handles the payments and the more important things of that sort but all our jewelry is in gold but we do have charms in bronze... If your looking for a repair that's also inside but you have to bring the item over so it can be estimated how much repair is needed." When Piper was sure she'd answered all possible sides of the girls query she smiled. "Oh and thank you for you business madam."

Never dropping his cheery aura, Kaine responded to Piper in kind, "Haha, nope. No last name for me, I'm afraid." Kaine watched the back of the young woman as she thanked Piper and continued on into the shop. "Mr. Sabara, huh...?" muttered Kaine, placing his index finger on his chin, thinking on the name. "Oh!" he exclaimed, suddenly, his smile returning. "I think Joseph mentioned him a few times while I was working with him back in Hollenhide! Said he was quite the smith." Peeking around Piper's person, as if he'd catch a glimpse of someone he'd never met and instantly recognize them, Kaine was curious as to what the blacksmith looked like.

"Hmm... I wonder if he remembers Joseph..." said Kaine, now standing straight again, looking back to Piper. "Have you heard of him? I think he and Mr. Sabara had a trading system set up between the two of them or something." Kaine was now checking out the few gadgets and items that were displayed on the table in front of Piper, his mind in awe of interesting mechanisms he'd never seen back in Hollenhide Village.

Piper blinked and though of the name. "The name does ring a bell... Mr.Sabara and his wife kept me away from the trading business... Bad memories they often told me..." Piper trailed off and blinked. "Oh I should mention he's not my dad... Lot's of people think Mr.Sabara is and that I have his wife's last name... But they lost there kid apparently they just kinda adopted me cause my own family could care less..." Piper took a breath then brightened back up. "Anyway do you want to meet Sabara? He enjoys curious people... And you seem to have enough curiosity to fill a small continent." She giggled and smiled at her own words.

Kaine certainly was an interesting one. Not like the other people around Gallus the rich who were too high on there horses to care about anyone and the lower class who were very kind yes but lacked in a certain spirit of life. Or at least all the people Piper had met lacked it... They all seemed so content to just live life with no complaints... What ever happened to livening things up? That's what Piper already admired about Kaine he seemed so happy to see everything even if he'd seen it just a second ago.

Kaine was happy to have met someone he was almost indirectly connected to him so soon after his arrival into Gallus, however, he couldn't help but respond to Piper's mentioning of her family practically abandoning her, a sympathetic expression on his face, "Wow... That's an honest shame... I wonder how anyone could ever treat their own child like that...?" Kaine's smile returned after a few short seconds and continued, "But at least you were lucky enough to cross paths with two kind people like Mr. Sabara and his wife." Kaine then grinned with his white teeth showing brightly, eyes closed while pointing his thumb at his face, "Kinda reminds me of my own story!"

Kaine then suddenly remembered Piper's proposal of meeting Mr. Sabara, and became excited once more. "Oh, and I'd LOVE to meet Mr. Sabara! He sounds like a really nice person, after all!" said Kaine, now standing straight with his hands on his waist, looking rather "heroic" without realizing it, his grin still prominent on his face.

However, just after saying this, Kaine's expression dropped into a distracted look of curiosity as his attention was drawn to a scream just a short distance away from where he and Piper were speaking. "Hm?" he hummed, now looking out of the corner of his eyes and to the right, up at the rooftop the sound came from, just in time to see what appeared to be a young man climb on top of the roof, rather awkwardly, a bird then choosing to land on his outstretched arm after he managed to straighten up. "Hmm..." repeated Kaine, rather uncertainly, as the young man began talking with a young woman who also happened to be on the same rooftop. "Huh..." muttered Kaine, "Guess it was nothing." His smile returning, he looked back to Piper.

Piper blinked and grabbed a piece of wood that said 'be back shortly' and set it on the table. "Well they did not really abandoned me I'm allowed home it's just I'm the disappointment of the family... It's a long story I can tell you latter if you-" Screams met her ear and Piper tilted her head to try and see. "Interesting... Anyway come on." She held open the door for Kaine and stepped in after him.

Inside the shop warm air filled every corner and Sabara was huffing while it wrote down orders checked other and kept the coals hot. "Sabara we have a guest." The grizzly old man looked up and over at Pipe and Kaine before standing. Piper always admired how powerful he seemed despite his age. He was a tall man with large arms and a large upper body warm eyes and hair and a bear that at one point had been jet black but was now gray.

"Pip who is this man?" Sabara questioned with a look of disapproval. Ok maybe not disapproval but certainly an amount of curiosity as if trying to figure out every place Kaine had ever placed his feet.

Piper laughed. "Don't look at him like that Sabara he's not trying to drag me off to some cave and scoop my brains out he just wanted to meet you. He's a newbie from a ways away says he worked for Joseph... And hes got quite the curiosity." Piper smiled as Sabara's face softened a little.

"Yes Joseph old friend he might have mentioned you. Your lucky Pip here caught you today I heard there been madness with the guards today sent some poor guy to jail just for mouthing him off." Sabara placed a large hand on Piper's small head and ruffled her already wild white hair making her blush and huff for feeling small and for having the maddeningly cute nickname Pip brought into the light.

"Hm...?" hummed Kaine, looking rather confused upon hearing Piper's strange analogy, and was about to ask her about it when Sabara addressed him, and stole his attention away. Now smiling, Kaine responded in kind, "Yeah, I actually ran into a few of those guards." Kaine blinked and suddenly wore a sad expression, "One of them called me a simpleton and told me to move on, or else he'd arrest me... Didn't seem like a very nice guard to me..."

Kaine then started looking around the shop as he simultaneously spoke to Sabara, "So, you knew Joseph after all, huh? I thought he mentioned you once or twice." Kaine was admiring the work that was done on a long blade, fit for a top-notch warrior, as well as showing interest in a pair of studded leather fighting gloves that were on display next to it, his expressions changing between each new sight, going from awe, to excitement, to curiosity, and back to joy over and over.

Piper laughed. "Calm down Kaine you look like you might faint from excitement." Sabara chuckled and squeezed Piper's shoulder before calmly moving back to his seat. Piper blinked and looked at Sabara. When she'd met him all those years ago he seemed so alive but now he was growing older and tired it showed under his eyes.

Piper watched Sabara take a breath and smile. "Yes we have few to no good guards left... No where is perfect." He smiled more watching Kaine. "If your interested perhaps I could offer you something on the house? For a friend of Josephs... I mean me and him go way back and I still owe him for some favors... Maybe if I can help you on your adventure I'l feel I've re-payed a little of my dept."

Piper smiled. "If you need any help choosing anything ask me the expert of wares" Piper leaned confidently on a self only to have it tip back sending her to her but and a pot sailing up into the air and on her head. Piper sighed and did not bother to move the pot from her head. "Third time this week... I really need to stabilize that..."

Kaine, who was just inspecting an interesting little necklace with a talisman attached at the end, "Sorry, there's just so much I haven't seen!" Still holding the necklace, he turned to the two of them. "And there's no WAY I could let you do that, Mr. Sabara. Although, I appreciate the offer." Kaine smiled and gave a short bow of respect. Just then, Piper showed a grand display of clumsiness. Kaine chuckled a little and walked up to her.

"Wow, you're pretty clumsy, huh?" said Kain with a smile and a laugh, now picking up the pot from her head and placing it back on the shelf and helping Piper to her feet with ease. Before Piper could respond, however, they were interrupted by a dirty middle-aged man popping into the shop shouting, "Hey! Someone just made off with one of your items on display, Sabara!"

A small scowl of determination to appeared on Kaine's brow upon hearing this, and turned to assure Piper and Sabara, "Don't worry, I'll take care of it!" Tossing the necklace over to Piper before any protests could be made, he dropped his coat on the floor and dashed out of the shop, avoiding the man just as he said "He went that way!", pointing off towards the building where the young man and woman that Kaine saw talking up on the roof moments previously. Kaine then jumped clear over the table that was in front of the entrance, now chasing off after a skinny man with no shirt or shoes who was running in full sprint. Kaine was certain that he was the thief, as no one else was running in that direction. Watching the skinny thief run underneath the large arch in the side of the building, which lead around to the other side, Kaine was on his tail in mere seconds.

"Hey! Stop!" Kaine yelled after him, easily catching up after they made it behind the building, now passing him entirely, which took the young thief by complete surprise as he came to a skidding stop before Kaine, who was suddenly standing in front of the thief as if he'd been there all along, his hands on his hips and a smile on his face. "Wha...!?" the thief sputtered. "How...?" The thief then looked behind him as if to check that it WAS in fact the same person that was just chasing him a few seconds ago, before shooting his look back at Kaine. "What ARE you?"

Kaine continued to smile at him with a laugh, rubbing the bottom of his nose with the back of his index finger, "Yeah, I'm pretty fast." His expression returning to normal, "Now, you gonna give up? Or do I have to take back what you stole by force?" The thief seemed a little scared of Kaine, and with good reason; despite Kaine's overall jolly nature, he was quite imposing. "S-Stay back, you freak!" yelled the thief, now brandishing a small knife at Kaine.

"Hmm...?" hummed Kaine, looking worried. "I wouldn't recommend you doing that..." he said. The thief now appeared ready to attack, but was still a few feet away from Kaine, taking small scoots towards him, knife pointing in front. "I'm warning you!" he yelled at Kaine, "I'll cut you open, ya hear?!" Kaine's smile changed into a serious scowl, his voice a little more rough than usual, no sign of his usual happy nature. "Don't say I didn't warn you..." said Kaine, arms now both at his sides, waiting for the thief to get within range.

Just as the thief stepped one inch further, Kaine suddenly became a blur, the sound of a loud slamming impact echoing throughout the alleyways behind the building. "Guh...!" The thief was still trying to figure out what had happened. One moment, he was in front of Kaine, and then the next, he felt a powerful blow in his solar plexus, which completely knocked the wind out of him. Kaine's left hand was holding the wrist of the thief that was holding the knife, while his right arm's elbow was planted into the center of the thief's chest. "Good night~!" said Kaine, now giving his left hand a squeeze, forcing the thief to relinquish his hold on the knife, which now clattered onto the ground.

The thief then crumpled onto Kaine's chest, unconscious, which prompted Kaine to gently lay him down on the ground. Kaine's smile was once again on his face as he bent down to pick up the small golden trinket that could only have been the item the young man stole from Sabara's display stand. "Tch, tch, tch..." clicked Kaine, shaking his head. "Didn't your mother ever tell you not to take things that don't belong to you?" At that moment, Kaine turned around and noticed the same young man and woman that were talking up on the roof earlier, standing there off to the side, having just witnessed the whole scene. "Hi!" said Kaine, waving at them with a smile.

Scarlett grabbed Kaine's hand and ran into the building Neku got in and hid with the thief defeater. Everything happened in a second. She seemed to be determined to walk with the brown haired guy. One would think that Scarlett was obsessed with Neku. However, the truth was completely different. The thing she couldn't respect or understand was privacy. It just wasn't a strong enough reason for her to leave you alone. Probably instead of "I'm sorry but this business is private Scarlett, but come to the fair, plenty of adventure roaming there." she heard something like "Follow me, we'll go to the fair, plenty of adventure roaming there.

"I don't know, but we'll see." Scarlett whispered to Kaine. "So far he's a friend. Do you have a friend around here, who can come with us? And you were impressive when you stopped the thief."

Piper was about to talk when Kaine went running out of the store after the thief. Piper looked at Sabara for permission to follow. Sabara nodded then roughly added. "Be careful use your magic if you must..." Piper nodded and ran out of the store following where she'd seen Kaine run too. Her mechanical eye zoomed in and out catching in details as she ran. She lost Kaine at some point cause he had left before her. Piper pulled the magic about through her body and formed with her mind a bow she ran faster and formed an arrow. It was tiring imagining and creating things but it was her skill.

Piper ran faster until she heard Kaine's voice and hit her feet to a stop sliding slightly she aimed the bow and arrow and blinked to see the thief already down and Kaine talking calmly. Piper took a deep breath. "You had me worried newbie..." She lowered the bow and arrow and let her concentration fade which made the bow and arrow fade. Piper walked over to Kaine and looked at the person he was talked to. "Hiya." Piper waved happily with her mechanical arm before her eye drifted to the thief. Piper gently nudged the man with her foot. "Kaine please tell me we don't have to hide the body or anything..."

"It's more fun." Scarlett answered the question about the whispering. "It feels like we're hiding from something. Besides, you'll never know when you'll be found."
"Hiya." Piper said. "Kaine please tell me we don't have to hide the body or anything..."
"Hiding a body?" Scarlett was confused and a little scared at the same time. "Anyway... we have a great chat here, but I think that we've lost Neku. Sorry for dragging you here for nothing." She said in a sad tone. "So..." her mood quickly shifted to cheerful. "My name is Scarlett Nightforest." The girl raised her hands for handshake to both Piper and Kane.

Scarlett still wondered what busyness Neku had. As much as she knew so far, it had something to do with the tournament. She would love to go and see the Fawkner fair, but didn't have any idea where to go.

"Have you heard about the Fawkner fair and tournament? Do you know where is it? Do you feel like going there?" She asked them. Probably Neku's busyness will lead him there and the four of them would have an adventure. Probably even more people would join them.

Kaine was surprised when he heard his young new friend's voice, and after turning and greeting Piper with his usual cheery demeanor, rather happy to see her, actually, he assured her that the young thief was ALIVE, and there would be no hiding of any body. He then happily accepted Scarlett's gesture with his own hand. "What a nice name~! I'm Kaine! And no, sorry. I don't know anything about a tournament..." said Kaine, now reaching into his back pocket, pulling out the poster that Neku gave him. "Does it have something to do with this thing? I wasn't sure -- I can't read this kingdom's language, haha!" Kaine then turned to Piper, as if reminded of something.

"Oh, and by the way, Piper..." Kaine handed her the small golden trinket that was stolen from Sabara's display, "Is this what he stole? Because it was the only thing on him." Laughing, Kaine added, "Well, save for a small knife!" After his short chuckle, Kaine then decided to hand the poster over to Piper as well, remembering that the young man known as Neku asked him to give it to the owner of the blacksmith shop. "This guy wanted me to bring this by, so... Here!" he said, now turning back to Scarlett, "And MAN, that guy MUST be strong! For him to have seen me from where he was on the roof that ONE time! He seemed pretty preoccupied with you, after all." Smiling at his thoughts about Neku, he broke his concentration and returned to the main topic at hand, "Oh yeah, and..." looking confused, Kaine continued, "Just what IS a 'tournament'...?"

Piper blinked and took Scarlette's hand shaking it as best she could. She was happy to hear no one was dead and happy to see Kaine had managed to find another good person around these parts. "Nice to meet you Scarlette name's Piper." Piper nodded in greeting to the girl before her gaze returned to the body. She hoped the poor guy wasn't in too bad a shape when he woke up thief or not...

Kaine's voice brought Piper back to the present and she blinked over at Kaine who was handing her the stolen items and a paper. "Yeah this seem's like what was stolen thanks Kaine." She took the trinket and set it in her pocket before gently taking the paper. "For Sabara... Strange but il make sure he gets it." Piper smiled and put the paper away dusted her pants off and re-adjusted her shoulders.

Scarlette was talking about the tournament and fair. "I've heard or the tournament and fair but I've never been to one myself... Isn't the tournament when competing magic wielders go head to head in a competition until one winner is found? I'm not sure but that's what I've heard... I think a few people from this district go as well to try and win admittion into an academy or something..." Piper blushed. "Sorry I really only can guess..."

Kaine suddenly seemed rather sad upon hearing about the magik tournament, and voiced his concern, "Awww...? Does that mean only adept magik users can enter...?" His voice whiny, and his face long, he seems truly disappointed. Sighing, he continues, "Aw, man... I'm not very good with magik... All the talent I have is in martial arts..."

Now moping a bit, Kaine leans his backside against the wall, his arms crossed and his back hunched, looking rather childish as he stands between the two girls. "But you could join...right, Piper? You're good with magik, aren't you..." Kaine shifted his head to Piper as he spoke to her, a light smile appearing on his face. "You seem pretty talented. I felt it the moment I saw you." Turning his head to Scarlett now, "Same as you. You both have steady auras about you."

"Uuh... thanks!" Scarlett said. "Kaine, why don't you practice some of your magic? Even if the time isn't enough, why don't you think of something? Like combining it with martial arts or something?" The girl would always try to look for solving problems.

As for the tournament, she didn't know if it was a good idea to participate. Would this be taking the risk and chance for a new true and interesting story... or one way ticket for the hospital? Maybe there will be people from the academy which was mentioned in the poster and by Piper... maybe they were the best magic wielders and fighting with them would be like a crocodile versus an alligator. Still... Scarlett wanted to go there. She didn't know if the fighting was the only reason to go to the fair, but she wanted to go. Probably there were many more entertainments... but was that a reason for her not to participate? Besides of this, why did Neku had to ask Kaine to bring the poster by? And why was he keeping everything in such secret?

Scarlett has been thinking so much, she spaced out. Probably Piper and Kane had to bring her back to reality.

The man stabbed slowly in Neku's eyes. He was sidestepping at all the jabs the man made quite easily, and he even laughed while doing so. This made the thug more and more frustrated, as he cut at Nuke with blind rage. Neku got tired of dodging after he was about ten feet from the man. He held out his right hand and formed a small fireball, and twirled it about on his fingers. He quickly flung it, and the thug couldn't keep his eyes on the extremely fast fireball as it whirred by him, seared the top of his ice knife off, and exploded on the far back alley wall. As the hooded thug looked back, he received a two fists in his face. Neku had rushed forward while his opponent was distracted and taken a running start for his drunken punch, standing on one leg and forcing hi inertia and body weight into his fists. The thug was out.

Meanwhile Zhu had found the girl now surrounded by two others. He circled over head trying not to be spotted when suddenly with his enhanced eagle eyes he spotted a mouse. Zhu couldn't help it, it was a reaction when he dived for the mouse. He made a great screech as he spiked himself down and caught the mouse with his talon. He landed near the group as he began to pick at the mouse, tearing small peaces off that he swallowed whole.

Neku was now stumbling toward the woman he had saved, her face obscured by a veil. "Are you all right?" Neku said, obviously staring at her chest. The woman replied, "Yes, but I must reward you in some way," as she drew nearer to him. "No, no I couldn't-" Neku was interrupted by a cold knife in his gut. the woman removed her veil to reveal herself as a fair woman with the design of an upside down sunrise on her face. Now that Neku looked, it was the same symbol on the thug's chest plate. Neku collapsed on the ground, as the woman began to walk away.

The woman marked the same symbol on the wall with the blood from the knife and left. Neku wasn't dead though, as he was seen when he stood back up. He only knew one place to go, the blacksmiths that was about a block away. He began his drunken wounded stumble out of the alley. Once out of the alley, the girl wasn't anywhere near, and the shop seemed a million miles away. Neku doubted his chances of living this time, as he tried to shamble down the oddly empty streets.

Piper blinked at Kaine. "Ummm well I'm good at magic I don't use it often though I don't believe its wise..." She gently touched her metal arm. "Bad things seem to happen to people who are good at magic in this city... Or at least in the last little while...I prefer to lay low..." Piper looked at the paper. "I should take this to Sabara-" The sound of a bird made Piper jump and call forth her magic once more out of impulse and point it at a bird. "Oh heavens you scared me you bird!" She blushed and huffed and called away her magical bow feeling embarrassed.

"I'm gonna go back to the blacksmith I'm getting a bad feeling... See you back there in awhile maybe Kaine? I put your bags in my room in the back ok?" Piper turned and left the dark street and back into the light of day. She felt relief wash over her and started walked back toward the blacksmith when she noticed someone ahead of her stumbling about. "Hey are you ok?" Piper picked up the pace but as she got closer to the man the smell of alcohol filled her nose making her cringe. She was about to scold the man on drinking in brought daylight when she noticed the deep cut in his body. "OK your not ok." Piper caught the guy and pulled him so that his weight fell on her. She felt queasy with the blood that close but knew she had to get back to Sabara he knew how to fix this sort of thing. Rushing quickly she practically pulled the man through the street toward the store. "Today is just one thing after another..." She huffed.
