Personality

Unlike his sister, Myra, Vin is extremely outgoing and laid back. Most of his muggle friends would describe him as a "hippie or stoner without the drugs." He has his secrets, as anyone does, but he's mostly an open book. He doesn't tend to seek people out, but his benevolent nature tends to draw people in. Due to his relaxed attitude, he has many friends. He can roll with the punches and fight back when he needs to, but would much rather kill with kindness. He's extremely articulate, having inherited the brilliance of his family, and is much faster to talk through a situation than to let it come to blows of any kind. Even so, it's very rare that Vin ever finds himself in a confrontation because he's just an amenable guy. He's the type of guy who can see the forest through the trees while admiring each tree individually. He really doesn't sweat the small stuff, mostly because he's so easygoing about most situations. He's not one for organized sports like Quodpot, but you an always catch him surfing, hiking, mountain biking, etc. in his free time. He loves the outdoors and everything that has to do with it (except some specific bugs). Vin shares his sister's quirky sense of humor and gives in to his goofy side every now and then, depending on the "feel" of the room and the people he's with. A bit of a fly on the wall, he's able to blend with many different people from different backgrounds (mostly because he's completely nondiscriminatory). Vin is very friendly and energetic and enjoys being able to spend time with people "just taking in each other's energies." He tends to be rather protective over his "little" sister because he cherishes her above anyone else, having the strong bond that only twins can have or understand. He excels in his classes, due to his natural intelligence, but is always looking for non-educational challenges. Currently, he's working on becoming an animagus. If he's not surfing or outdoors, you can always find him on the green or in the Ferre commons jamming to his headphones or practicing his bass. His favorite songs right now? Amanitas by Les Claypool or White Blank Page by Mumford and Sons.

History

Vin was born to full-blood wizard Allen Magaly and non-magical Vree Wittun. His parents met and fell in love when Allen was on vacation one weekend just after having graduated from a wizarding school in Canada. They were married shortly thereafter and 2 years later Vin was born, along with his twin sister Myra. He grew up in a mixed-wizardry home, with a slight knowledge of his father's origins and backgrounds, but mostly just attending non-magical schools his mother had attended as a young child. Born and raised in San Diego, California, Vin spent much of his time outdoors, and grew to love it more than anything. He became an avid surfer, snowboarder and mountain biker, along with picking up various other outdoor skills. He also grew to really enjoy the underground music scene and his tastes have become rather eclectic.

Melvin was always a bit closer to his mother than his father, having never shown any manifestation of wizardry before his eleventh birthday. His mother, also an outdoors-y person, would take Vin out on all her favorite trails or surf spots when Myra and Allen were off learning about magical things. He had always been aware of his wizarding blood, but it didn't bother him that his sister was magical and he was not. It was what it was, and there was nothing Vin could do about it so he didn't see a point in letting it phase him. Instead, he threw himself into other interests, like the bass guitar. He picked it up when he was 7 and hasn't stopped practicing since. Now, he's come a far way and his dream is to have a jam session with Les Claypool some day. Vin admired Myra's abilities and would egg her on to try moving things or creating things. Myra always followed along, Vin being her best friend and more of the leader. Every now and then they'd get in trouble (like the time they made the garbage disposal explode all over the baby-sitter they didn't like very much) but generally their parents took all their mutually planned pranks in stride.

On the day of Myra's and Vin's 11th birthday, Myra was wandering back and forth in front of the door morosely, her disappointment becoming more and more clear on her face as the letter's arrival seemed dismal. At first, he'd joined in with his parent's gentle teasing of the poor girl, but Vin's heart had broken in half for his sister when their parents had finally, smilingly, announced that it was time for their birthday dinner. It was as thought he blow that hit her had hit her as well. He saw the tears welling up in her eyes and knew he had to do something. Just as he was devising a plan to create a fake invitation for her, somehow get her into the school through a loophole, she had let out a strangled but excited sob. Looking up, he saw that her plate had been set with a letter, not food, and he immediately brightened. His little sister would get to go to the school after all! He was so elated for her that he barely noticed when Allen's hand clapped him on the shoulder, and, with an extremely warm and tender look in his eye, handed Vin a matching letter. Confused, Vin looked at his mother questioningly. "Looks like you've got some catching up to do," she replied lovingly acknowledging Myra, "I'm juts so proud of both of you!"

In his first year at Magus Grex, Vin had a blast and was surprised to find he was as adept at magic as his sister was. He'd never experienced any magic before and every day was a new adventure and challenge for him. He was eager to learn and was always trying out new 'tricks' whenever he could. He constantly pushed himself harder and asked questions in class whenever he wanted to know more, but luckily his laid back and seemingly uncaring demeanor kept students from being too annoyed by him. Contrarily, many students migrated towards him, pulled in by his friendly aura, and he befriended most. He always tried to get people to chat with Myra or vice versa, as he spent a lot of time around her, but she remained quiet and shy. When people started calling her a bookworm and a snob, causing her to cry, Vin would step in and "take matters into his own hands" by running mental circles around the bullies, and standing up for his sister. Especially after the bullying of Myra calmed down into their second year, he would spend most of his afternoons surfing or outdoors, depending on the weather, and (while he seemed lazy and detached) was constantly paying attention to and reading up on the wizarding world. He's found that his best and favorite classes are Transfiguration, Defense Against the Dark Arts and History of Magic. He finds the world of magic extremely enjoyable.

Eventually he stumbled upon some third years talking about their first lesson about Animagi and was extremely intrigued. Listening as best he could to any passing third years, he picked up some information and kept it handy. The idea consumed him whenever he was out surfing or in working on bass and eventually he began the process of becoming one. He worked hard and was finally able to achieve his goal. He registered right away, not one to break extreme rules (though bending little ones was fine). He still needs a wand to transform, but he's getting to the point where he won't.

Melvin "Vin" Magaly's Story

#, as written by Skwidge
Naire Harth

Class, for him at least, had remained fairly unexciting. The water balloons were a nice twist, but he still didn't appreciate the splotches of dark on his robe where he had failed to get the shield charm up in time. Naire was just glad that none of the little projectiles had strayed too far, and that his camera was safe. Chopstick hooted flatly, swooping in from one of the open windows and alighting on the contraption the boy's thoughts were occupied with. Without a word, the Vulpes' gaze flickered to the small owl's feet, his left thumb preoccupied with turning one of the dials.

He had been so enamored with the owl's features, he didn't even realize that he was walking straight for the pool of water where Vin and Lyle had been pummeled mercilessly by extra water balloons. While other students walked around it, he stepped onto it, not expecting the unusual surface texture, and his leg slipped out from under him, landing him on his back with a half winded groan. Chopstick had fluttered up and off of the camera as the boy lurched backwards.

Shaking his head to free himself from his daze, his eyes twittered down to the floor, now noting the water which was seeping into his robes further. "Clean up on isle-" He paused in his weak attempt at a joke. "Wait, how many halls does Magus Grex even have!?" Naire squeaked, his camera clutched in his hands as he blinked slowly. He then released his grip, using his now free hands to push himself up off the ground and into a sitting position, and then from there to a standing position. He carefully walked out of the puddle, and rubbed his feet on the flooring so he wouldn't slip again. He looked up to see the soaked Vin and Lyle tackling Myra and Summer from behind in revenge, and let out a small sigh as the two boys departed into the Great Hall.

He rubbed the back of his head sourly, Chopstick alighting back on his shoulder, hooting and chirping noisily, as if he meant apologies.

Teiver Morn

As per usual, Teiver completely ignored everyone who entered the classroom, her focus completely taken up by what was in front of her. She was scribbling on her charts again, blinking only on occasion as she recalled the star patterns of that morning and realigned them to fit with some of the corridors and wooden doors of the castle. It was only when Graham announced that they would be starting that she clutched the papers and stuffed them into her satchel.

Graham went through the usual beginning-of-the-year pleasantries before getting down to business. He had them set to work on a simple antidote potion, wanting to start off with something easy at the start.

Once class ended, Teiver silently replaced all of her items, leaving the vial on the table and walking out into the halls, heading for the Great Hall quickly, the tip of her pen against her lips as she tried to retrace and remember all of the doors which might and would be affected by the changing in the skylight. She stepped around her fellow Vulpes student Naire as he was sprawled on the ground, her attention momentarily distracted by his owl spilling out apologies. 'I'm sorry, Naire, honest I am! I really should have seen the puddle and warned you!! I'm just so wrenched by the fact I couldn't see something so simple with my highly attuned eyes! I should just jab them out; I've forsaken you sooo....' The little bird was flapping on the boy's shoulder, his hooting seeming to almost trip over itself.

With a shrug, she turned her attention back to her thoughts, continuing to walk forward and into the Great Hall. Her eyes quickly scanned over the Vulpes table, and her eyes landed on Victor. Her stomach growled, reminding her of her missed dinner and breakfast, and she let out a muted sigh, wandering over to him and sitting down next to him, hunching her back a bit as she looked at the empty plate before her was suddenly replaced with a chicken flavored rice noodle bowl. "Hey." She muttered through a forkful of the noodles in greeting to him, not really caring for manners at the moment. She just wanted to eat and then get to work.

Her ears were filled with the chatter of both students and the few animals who bothered to linger around the tables. She subconsciously waited for Garrison to pipe up a greeting to her and suddenly appear under her bench, but when she missed it, the thought suddenly struck her. Indeed, it struck her with so much force that her fork dropped straight out of her hand and came clattering down onto the table. "Oh shi-" She blinked, wide eyed, and then took on a seemingly panicked facial feature as her mind started racing.

But I'm hardly prepared to go up there, especially on my own. But it's not like I can trust anyone to come with me. But urgh, Garrison could be in some serious trouble, and if I don't get up there in time, there might be some serious consequences. Her eyes strayed over to Victor, and she grabbed his arm on a whim, lurching up from the bench and dragging him somewhat off of it with her. "No questions, just come." Her voice was uncharacteristically pleading as she tugged at his robes lightly, soon letting go and darting out of the Great Hall, hoping he'd be following her. If not, she'd just have to manage on her own.

Lloyd Vrancing

At the first of class, Lloyd had been lost in thoughts of violin playing, so much so that she accidentally went so far as to somewhat mimic out the sweeping motion of the bow. Luckily, she'd managed to look up and see the teacher in pause and staring at her disapprovingly, though Oscar had the grace to remain silent about it and not bring the other students' attention to her and embarrass her even further. She quickly dropped her hands to her knees, her head bent down as she then set to paying close attention to the class.

Once they'd started with water balloons, Lloyd was more than hyped about it, occasionally forgetting that she was throwing the water balloons so that her partner could practice, and would instead try to just pelt the poor lad before he reminded her good-naturedly about it again.

By the time class concluded, Lloyd was more than ready to get some food into her system again, smiling largely as she exited class and headed straight towards the hall. She paused in time to see Vin and Lyle try to pelt Myra and Summer with water balloons and swiftly get rejected, the tables turning on them without too much warning. The Ferre girl laughed cheerily as her friends got thoroughly soaked, quickly following them into the Great Hall.

Plopping herself down to the left of Melvin, and a few inches away from the distance she would normally sit with consideration to his sopping wet robe. "Heya guys!" Another large, cheerful grin was on her face, only scrunching up slightly as she was showered with tiny droplets of water from Lyle. "Class was fun today." She nodded, grabbing at some strawberries that presented themselves in a petite little bowl, her actual lunch being a wider variety of fruit and muffins. "Hey, Vin? If you aren't busy, do you mind if I steal you for something? Lyle, you can come too- er... if you want to, y'know. I'm more convinced that you'll be busy though."

Summer Turner

Summer had been out of place in her present class, so attention seemed to be very lacking as she thought of last night in the library with Flint. She had her legs crossed in her Cervus skirt, so she would be able to straighten her back successfully to appear as though her attention was on the teacher at full blast. She had learned that from her sister that the better posture you have the less likely you are question about where you attention was at. She had cast a spell on the pencil on her desk to write down whatever the teacher said was important. She had no time to waste on this class because she wanted to go talk to Flint right now and see how he was. It was like as soon as Justin walked up he went back to be Bliss' ex-boyfriend and not just her friend that she could talk to about anything.

Hearing a pop at the front of the classroom, Summer's eyes met the teacher's who just smiled at her and continued on after getting on to another student near the back on the class. Bliss was right about one thing; posture does something other than make you look proper. Looking up at the near clock that seemed to be going slower than Christmas, Summer let her thoughts run wild at the possibilities this year could have for her. Ten more minutes and you're at lunch. Just last ten more minutes. Her thoughts were cheering her on to last just ten more minutes, but she knew they would feel like hours as each passing minute went by.

"Summer, darling. Do you know the answer to what I have asked?" Frozen. Summer realized her back had arched and that she was staring at the door to the classroom rather than somewhere near the teacher. Say something. "No ma'am. I'm sorry." She looked down at her fingers that were now her escape from being ridiculed for her lack of attention, but it seemed the teacher let her off easy with a warning. Luckily for her, class was ending sooner rather than later as the ten minutes flew by. Gathering up her belongings, she made a straight shot for the door with no hesitation. Seeing the flood of students being released from their classes, Summer quickly made it through until she spotted Myra. "Hey M." She said with a quick hug as they escaped the treacherous views of the teachers and found their way to an open spot in the Great Hall.

Once sitting, the girls found themselves talking about what they had done in class and other small things until Summer needed to tell Myra about her late night in the library with Flint. She straightened out her skirt, so Myra knew she was about to spill something big. The girls always over-exaggerated stuff about boys to mock the other girls that actually would drool over the slightest interaction with someone like Vance or Zackariah. Summer and Myra were both smart enough to know who was good for them and who needed to be kept at a distance. "I was in the library last night with F--"

"Fire in the hole!" With the conversation at a stand-still, Summer looked to see Lyle and Vin with wands in hand. As her sight moved higher, she saw the water balloons on their departure. She felt a squeal form in her throat until Myra was on her feet, casting a protection spell that seemed to not let one drip of water touch their uniforms. Summer smiled at her best friend as she felt herself being dragged up from the table and forced to run in a full sprint, which was something Summer did not do. She giggled as she felt the arms of one of the boys around her, feeling the wetness from the backfire drench her uniform. Turning to see Lyle, Summer shook her head before the boys were back off in a full retreat. She looked over at Myra giving the most devilish look. "Let them have this one. They won't expect a thing." She laughed as she hooked her arms into Myra's, so the two could walk back towards the Great Hall.

Summer had let the thought about Flint slip her mind, finding a seat far away from the other students. She knew most people had saw the success of Myra's spell, but then of course saw the boy's comeback. She was in no mood to be laughed at or even stared at for that matter. Summer knew that she had been on edge lately, but she knew Myra was one of the few to keep her down to Earth. "So now that we know who our enemies are.. What will be our next attack, Captain?" She joked as she brought her left leg up to sit on top of it.

Bliss Turner

Bliss had loaded up her schedule with a full-load of classes for her last year because she knew of all people to be able to handle it, she was one of the few. She had just finished the pre-test for the present class when she saw that she had finished it before any other student. She let her eyes close as she shifted to a scene of the summer. It was the night she had taken Felix to the local town fair that Bliss and Summer had went to since Summer moved to town, but Summer had opted out to go visit her mother's grave. For some reason, Bliss could not push herself to go with her sister this time, so she was happy that the timing was right for her to be able to spend some time with Felix.

Felix was right on time as Bliss stood out in front of the fair gate, waiting upon his arrival. Seeing him for the first time with Summer not by her side was something that Bliss had been looking forward to for quiet some time now. "My, my. Mr. Fletcher. You seem to be lost." The playfulness in Bliss' voice was obvious to the point that she had found herself smiling from ear to ear. "I was begin to think you would keep me waiting all night, but you're obviously not that kind of guy." She smiled as she let her arm intertwine with Felix's, guiding him into the fair. Looking at Felix, Bliss felt herself opening up to the possibility of more with the guy that she had not given a second thought to as her last relationship with Flint was more than she had imagined.

Garrett Flint. His name rung into her head over and over again until she found her memory move far from the fair and into her last year at Magus Grex. Somehow through the year, Bliss had became very fond of Flint faster than any guy she had dated at Magus Grex. She found herself smiling constantly at the small jokes the two would pass back and forth. She guessed that her fondness came from how similar he was to Justin, but that he was actually into the part she offered rather than the parts of the opposite sex. He was somebody that she could be herself with, drawing her closer to him. Near the end of the year, things seemed so different between the two though. Bliss would never voice that she still wanted him as more than just a friend, but she knew that if she even mentioned the word more that their friendship would no longer exist. Ending things mutually seemed to be better, so that she could still have him close.

It seemed bringing Felix into her life was the perfect way to get over Flint until she realized that Felix was more than the perfect match for her, but something was still telling her to open up to Flint. She would have if she hadn't seen Flint with Summer and Justin, so voicing her feelings would be harder than she thought. She needed to tell him, so she could move on and give her whole heart to Felix. "Miss Turner.. Miss Turner!" Bliss' eyes shot open as she saw that class had ended and she was the last in the classroom. She let a small breathe escape her lips as she felt her cheeks flush at the way her thoughts had went. She needed to stop herself from letting Flint back into her head, so she grabbed her small bag of school books and headed towards the Great Hall.

It seemed with every step she took she had actually taken five. Her mind was playing tricks on her today, so she brushed the sleep that had built in her eyes from the small dream that was more of a nightmare considering it was trying to convince her to pretty much ruin the friendship she had with Flint and openly admit to Felix that her feelings were not solely his. She was tired of the boy trouble in her life. Once inside the Great Hall, she found that a scene had happened only seconds before her arrival. Spotting water across the floor of the Great Hall, Bliss smirked seeing Lyle and Melvin drenched in water. The possibilities of how the boys ended up the way the were now made her smile bigger.

She spotted her sister with Myra with water on their uniforms, but not as much as the other boys. She would have to ask Summer what had happened later on today, but now she needed to find Justin more than anything. She looked around the Great Hall and saw not a trace from the boy, but then she heard the news. "Yeah, that Emerson guy.. And Felix! They blew themselves up! Like seriously! Kaboom!" Bliss froze as she heard the name Felix of the girl's mouth, but soon she realized it was not her Felix. She was flooded with relief until she knew exactly where to find Justin. Bliss had made her way across the courtyard where she spotted Justin hovering outside the Infirmary entrance. "Are they okay?" She asked as she wrapped her arms around Justin's neck. "I just heard what happened."

She awaited his reply knowing that her original cause for finding him was now pushed aside until she could calm him down from his freak out mode that she knew was present as soon as Emerson was revealed to be one of the ones in the incident.

Zackariah Everett

Zackariah was beyond irritated with the way things were going in class. He was out of his element after the way he exploded at Priscilla and Sam before classes began. He ran his hands through his hair as class moved on. Nothing spectacular happened of course, so he kept attention to the least amount without being called out for lack of. He was seated at the opposite side of the classroom from Vance, and he soon regretted to decision as he realized that his side seemed to be the one that the teacher favored more. He replied when spoken to, but that was also to a minimum with the amount of words actually replied back to the teacher.

He was sitting near one of the fellow Arietem when the girl leaned closely to Zackariah. He tensed as the girl seemed to hover in the space for far too long before speaking, "Did you hear how Vance just gave up his spot as Captain? He just quit." Zack's tension came to a max as he grabbed the girl's wrist before he could stop himself. "Bullshit." The word along with the wrist-grabbing was such a quick movement that the teacher barely caught the scene before asking Zack if there was a problem. He stiffened as he glared across the room, "No problem at all." He had fixed his gaze on a bookshelf when he finally heard the signal of class ending.

"Sorry about the.. your wrist." Apologizing to the fellow Arietem before he realized that Vance was already out of the classroom. Zackariah bolted for the door to find that Vance was barely down the hall, walking by himself. Pushing through other students, Zack found himself beside Vance within seconds. "Why the fuck does some bitch from our house tell me you quick the team before you do?" Even with the hint of agitation, Vance would know that Zack meant nothing bad from the tone. "What's going on?" He knew that in order for Vance to quit the one thing that he loved at the school meant something was going down.

Lyle Brightham – Not a Third Wheel

Lyle was in the midst of assembling the food he’d gathered into a rather unconventional sandwich when Lloyd arrived. The art of sandwich making required utter focus, so he didn’t do much more upon hearing her voice than look over and offer a big smile (his earlier fit of mopeyness was completely eradicated, by this point, or maybe it had been washed away after the fifty-third water balloon of the day had hit him; there really wasn’t any way to be sure) before plunging back into the task. After a short while, the monstrosity on his plate had ceased to be merely a sandwich. That classification was nowhere near adequate. It was a small tower of bread, meat, cheese and gravy. Four pieces of fresh bread, layers of thick-cut roast beef, mashed potatoes, and gravy, three different kinds of cheese. As he lifted it to take a bite, he realized that he’d probably missed something and looked over. His overlarge sandwich sort had started to sag in the middle, so he had to reposition his small hands around it to keep it from falling apart entirely.

”Huh? Oh, I’ll be busy?” He never lacked for things to do, between his myriad causes, hobbies, and running a newspaper, but he wasn’t aware of anything pressing that needed his attention. Had he forgotten something that Lloyd was aware of? A dollop of mashed potatoes slipped free from between the second and third pieces of bread to land on the table with a plop as he furrowed his brow and tried to think what he might be not remembering. He was lousy with keeping appointments and the like, and trying to maintain some sort of schedule had only made things worse. Schedules were very easy to lose in the shuffle, especially for someone as scatter-brained as Lyle, and even more especially for someone as scatter brained as Lyle who kept reams and reams of notes and ideas stacked about.

He knew he didn’t have any interviews today. He’d remember that, since it was the first day of classes and he’d only chanced to get Demetrio’s story in the first place. He hadn’t set up any events for any of the organizations he was a part of either. The wrinkling of his brow grew even more intense, and then suddenly, his eyes shot very wide open. Naire! In the excitement of the early morning, he’d utterly misplaced his misgivings about the night before and how he’d been unable to find his friend until just before bedtime. Then, in class, Hughes had set them right to work, and he’d been paired with Vin entirely across the room from the Vulpes shutterbug. He’d been so despondent afterwards that he probably would have forgotten to eat, had it not been for Vin’s intervention. He shot up off the bench, his head popping up over the other Ferre students in gopher-like fashion as he tried to find a particular mop of dark brown hair amidst the more bookish House’s lunch-goers.

”You two go on ahead,” he said quickly, the words practically tripping over one another, as if the extra second he would have lost speaking them normally might be the difference between finding Naire and not. He swung one leg over the bench, then the other, taking a quick bite of his sandwich, which he was obviously going to take with him... wherever it was that he was going. Lloyd and Vin would have to guess, because the only explanation he offered for his rapid departure was a food-muffled ”Haf vun! Jeers!” before he finished chewing, swallowed, and took off as quickly as he could without causing his lunch to explode from his hands in a shower of mushiness.

He did a more thorough appraisal of the Vulpes table on his way by, managing to get another few bites in on his way out of the Great Hall. His plan was to backtrack to the Defense Against the Dark Arts room, and hopefully run into his chum on the way. It turned out he barely needed a plan at all, since the very boy he sought was standing not too far at all from the entrance to the Great Hall. ”There you are!” he exclaimed brightly, before using his tongue to work a bit of stubborn roast beef out from between his teeth. ”Hughes-“ He paused, glancing around quickly to ensure the man wasn’t looming in earshot, then continues. ”Hughes got me in such a state after class I didn’t even think to wait up for you. Sorry, mate.” His brow creased. ”You aren’t mad at me, are you? I mean, last night and all, and Vin’s right, I’m sure, but I worry, you know…” Even he realized that he’d just made no sense at all. ”I mean, well, just, you aren’t mad at me, are you?” Another gob of potato, now mixed with gravy, dropped out of the forgotten sandwich and landed on his shoe. In hindsight, he probably should have made two smaller sandwiches and brought one for Naire.

Vin chuckled and chattered with Lyle as he grabbed various foods from the table. Helping himself to some chicken, then some turkey, he made sure to add a little veggies to his plate as well. He wasn't a huge fan of fruit, but he managed to talk himself into a couple strawberries to round out his meal. Proud of himself, he began his feast as Lloyd appeared. She sat next to him, but farther away than normal. Vin smiled cheekily as he shook his head, supposedly to get his hair out of his eyes, but mostly to rain droplets of water on Lloyd. He turned to wink at Lyle in camaraderie but chuckled instead at the beast of a 'wich his best bud had made. He was still a little giddy from the high of being attacked by a billion water balloons with seeming minds of their own. Still chuckling, he turned back to Lloyd at her "Heya guys!"

"Heys." Vin replied on the end of his chuckle as he returned to his food. The fuel he put in spelled out more hours with the salt water on his skin and the sand between his toes later. With that calming thought in mind, he added mashed potatoes to his plate, then realized he was slightly jealous of Lyle's sandwich-creation skills and poured gravy over everything, including the strawberries.

"Hey, Vin? If you aren't busy, do you mind if I steal you for something? Lyle, you can come too- er... if you want to, y'know. I'm more convinced that you'll be busy though." Melvin's interest was piqued as the girl he'd shared a moment with that morning was already asking for one on one time. He knew she didn't mean to be rude, which was why she'd included Lyle, but it seemed to be a bit of an after thought. He decided to wait and see how his friend reacted before making his own decision, not in the market to leave a bro behind in the battlefield because of a woman. He turned to his friend and watched with concern as Lyle seemed to strain with concentration over his manwich, then stood quickly and looked around as though he'd lost his mom in a supermarket. ”You two go on ahead,” Lyle commanded and was gone before Vin could really comprehend what had just happened. He was used to this sort of behavior though, so, shrugging, he turned back to his meal and Lloyd.

"Awright," he said before taking a bite of gravy-covered strawberry and finding he actually quite liked the pairing. "What's the 'something' chickadee?" He offered her another of his now-gray strawberries indifferently. It was probably the absolute weirdest combination he'd ever come up with in food, but that didn't bother him, he'd liked it, so he'd share it. If he could talk Myra into eating a Lays potato chip dipped in mustard and spaghetti mixed with mashed potatoes, then he could get Lloyd to eat this strawberry. Or not. He really didn't care. Half the joy of getting his twin to eat the weird food concoctions he made was the fight, Lloyd was almost as go-with-the-flow as he was, so he assumed their wouldn't be much of a fight.

Myra's day had been long already, but quite fun. After finding another spell she excelled at and having helped quietly tutor some of her classmates through the water balloon drills, she'd successfully caused one of her brother's pranks to backfire on him and made it to lunch with enough time to eat quickly and catch up with her best female friend before doing some quick studying for her next class. "Let them have this one. They won't expect a thing." She smiled playfully at Summer, then whispered conspiratorially, "Bet they don't know this spell!" and pulling out her wand she waved it stating confidently, "Exaresco." In an instant both girl's clothes were completely dry and smelling lightly of lavender. "It's going to be tough for them to have to go through the next few classes sopping wet!" She giggled in a playfully malicious way. She followed as Summer picked a spot slightly farther away from the rest of the Cervus table and decided to follow and sit with her. It wasn't as though the Vulpes table would miss her. She could tell something was bother Summer, but not what. Hadn't she been about to tell Myra something just before the failed attack?

"So now that we know who our enemies are... What will be our next attack, Captain?" Summer laughed and the happiness in the sound caused Myra to smile a toothy grin. Her chest tightened as she realized just how much she'd missed her friend over the holiday and, instead of answering her question, pulled Summer into a tight hug, "Oh! I missed you!" She held her there for a moment, just enjoying the hug then pulled back, and placed her hands on Summer's shoulders. "We'll plan our next attack when the time is right! I'm thinking shoe-laces might be involved." She winked then turned toward the table to pile her plate full of various fruits and veggies, a small baguette, 2 chicken legs and handful of french fries. Her mind was on fire, tracing backward through the recent happenings to try and figure out what it was her best friend had been trying to tell her. Summer wasn't really one to waste her words, however talkative the girl may be, so Myra was determined to be there for her if she needed. Suddenly her brain clicked everything into place as she remembered Summer's exact words just before the war cry.

"You were in the library!" Myra looked up from her chicken and pointed at Summer, her eyes narrowing in mock accusation, "With someone!" Then, without warning, her mind shot to the morning's run-in with Vance and a blush lit up her cheeks. Her brow furrowed, what was up with that? He'd nearly avada'd her for all she knew, the look was in his eye. But then it had... gone. He'd... softened, or something. And that look in his eye that usually made her want to reach out and tell him everything would be okay had been there for a split second. Biting her lip, she gave her head a tiny shake, Not my place. Besides, he's terrifying! She had to keep reminding herself, she had to. Turning back to Summer, she popped a grape in her mouth, "Soooo? Spill!" She demanded in the way that girls do, getting back in touch with herself and her friend and the life she was used to, while leaving the morning's confusing moments behind.

Lloyd Vrancing

Lloyd remained silent as she watched Lyle construct his oversized sandwich, forking random pieces of fruit from her plate occasionally. Once he finished slapping random food items onto the two pieces of bread, her eyes scanned over his work, scrutinizing his ability.

”Huh? Oh, I’ll be busy?” Lloyd blinked, about to open her mouth and make a comment before she sealed her lips back together, realizing that her words would probably be overlooked as that thoughtful look filled his facials. It wasn’t misplaced that Lloyd should think that such a boy as Lyle would be constantly busy, so she really didn’t expect him to make such a comment as he had.

His sudden action surprised her, thus causing the Ferre girl to jump a little before rubbing her arm distractedly and returning to what she had previously been doing, relief rushing through her as he obviously had remembered something or other. ”You two go on ahead,” The girl blinked once more, her hearing working at following the fast-talking boy’s speech, shrugging as he disentangled himself from the bench of their table. ”Haf vun! Jeers!”

Once Lyle had wormed his way out of the hall, Lloyd licked her lips before speaking. “Was it just me, or did that sound oddly like a Transylvanian accent?” She turned to Vin, bringing her index and middle finger up to her face and mimicking fangs.

Once more she picked up her fork and stabbed a piece of cantaloupe, bringing it up to her mouth and chewing it thoughtfully. ”Awright,” Lloyd flashed him a small grin, but dropped it as she watched him plunge a strawberry into gravy. Her right eyebrow arched in questioning, and wrinkled her nose slightly as he proceeded to eat it.

"What's the 'something' chickadee?" Even though she wasn’t too keen on his new food combination, she sunk her fork lightly into it, accepting the offering anyway. “I’m not much of a gravy girl.” Her tone was thoughtful, though it was nothing more than a side comment as she bit down on the strawberry. She stuck her tongue out, quickly washing the taste down with some water and clean fruit.

As soon as she was satisfied with her mouth being clean, she finally spoke up. “Well, er, I kind of wanted to do some hiking to find a new place to practice. I’m… not… really, well I don’t like it when other people-….” She rubbed the back of her neck, trying to get the wording right. “It’s easier for me to practice alone somewhere I know people won’t bother me much. I mean, sure, I could find somewhere inside the castle, but I prefer it outside. And, well, I’m not asking to go all the way to the other side of the island or to the tallest peak or anything like that. Somewhere close by of course.” Lloyd nodded, nibbling on some pretzels. “Plus I’d rather have a partner in case I get lost or fall of a cliff or twist my ankle, y’know?”

Naire Harth

Naire was still standing there, his hands stuffed into his pockets again before he finally took one out long enough to bring it up and gently push Chopstick’s beak together so the bloody bird would stop killing his ears. “It’s fine buddy.” He muttered to the bird, returning his hand to its cloth den.

He was still a little dazed by the whole ordeal, so he forgot what he was doing, simply staring at the puddle in the middle of the floor. ”There you are!” The Vulpes boy was shaken out of his blank state by the loud call of his friend. He blinked a few times as Lyle came over with a very large and unruly sandwich in his clutches. And it seemed to be leaving a trail of goop. “Yes, here I am.” His eyebrow rose a bit and he shrugged.

Naire looked up into the Ferre boy’s face as he began to speak again. ”You aren’t mad at me, are you? I mean, last night and all, and Vin’s right, I’m sure, but I worry, you know…” Naire was about to answer him, and also ask him what he meant by Vin being right, but Lyle kept talking, cutting off the action before it could even be started. ”I mean, well, just, you aren’t mad at me, are you?”

He shrugged again before answering. “Eh, it’s fine, you looked pretty busy anyway,” The Vulpes was referring to Lyle not meeting him after class, and then continued to settle the boy’s unreasonable fears. “Nah, I’m not mad at you. I didn’t catch a reason to be?” His eyes got caught by the motion coming from his sandwich, and his eyes strayed down to the glob on his shoe. “You should probably put a napkin under that or something. Maybe more bread.” He nodded, walking around the pool and into the Great Hall. “I haven’t eaten yet, so I hope you don’t mind heading back into the Hall again.” He turned his head to look at his friend once more as he spoke.

Chopstick chirped again, and Naire turned his head, jumping a bit and shifting over to the side, narrowly missing an unseen small puddle of mush left by that sandwich. He wasn’t about to slip twice in the same twenty or what minutes. Naire sighed, rubbing his head and heading towards the Vulpes’ table, hoping Lyle was following him.

Teiver Morn

At least a little relief presented itself to her when Victor joined; she wouldn’t have to take care of it on her own then. She rubbed her left arm worriedly, quickly taking a left once they went down the hall a bit, her hand coming into contact with the railing of one of the staircases.

Her lips were pressed tightly together as she scaled the steps, her mind preoccupied with exactly what needed to be done next. They just had to get up to the third level and into the deeper parts of the library. To say the least, it was fairly uneventful getting to the library on the second floor.

Mutely, Teiver made a swift walk past the rows and rows of bookshelves and past one of the many areas for the desks. She peered back every so often to make sure that Victor was keeping up and following closely. She was fairly quick about getting to the internal spiral staircase, and once more her hand clutched the railings as she hopped up it, skipping two at a time until they finally came up to the opening of the third floor.

The Vulpes gave fair pause to look around fully, and make sure that no one was doing any reading, which she doubted considering it was lunch time anyway. She let out a huff of breath before striding promptly towards the back, keen eyes scanning one bookshelf in particular. It had a fair coating of dust to her dismay, but she really didn’t have time with which to spare in cleaning. Her index finger traced the books without actually touching them until she came to an old gray-blue tome with it colors and words faded.

Teiver leaned forward until she was about two inches away from touching it, and made sure to control her breathing so she wouldn’t inhale dust. Bringing her hand up to her mouth, she muttered something between her fingers before reaching out to the book’s spine and carefully pulling it out from its aligned position with the others. However, she only pulled it out so much, not actually wresting it from its place.

And without doing anything else, she turned around and hurriedly made her leave of the library, passing a few rooms and abandoned classrooms out in the hall to the fourth floor staircase. Of course from here on it only got complicated. Nonetheless Teiver led Victor onwards. If they chanced upon getting caught, her mind was already working on reasonable excuses. At least she hadn’t seen or run into Hardy; Her hand, unbidden, clenched slightly, and she rolled her eyes at the thought of the boy. Well, she was pretty certain she hadn’t seen him. It wouldn’t have been surprising, as her mind was definitely focused on more pressing matters than the immature dealings of Justin.

She quietly slipped into a room, dragging Victor in with her, as a prefect walked past. She twitched her fingers quietly before poking her head out, then abandoning the momentary place of hiding. She blinked, looking over at Victor for a second before continuing to walk down the halls to the corridor where the winding stairs of the forbidden levels awaited.
