Personality
Quiet and more than a little shy, she mostly confides in her cat, Kaplan, who is by her side the majority of the time. She has made a few very close friends who's she's been able to open up to as well, but she's still mostly quiet. Myra is the epitome of a bookworm. She can easily be found in or near the library at any time and enjoys spending her free afternoons reading in the Vulpes common room or outside under a tree. Due to her more intellectual nature, Myra is rather mature for her age. Myra is very precise, meticulous, and strong-willed. She is extremely friendly and loyal, but is the type of girl who needs to be approached rather than does the approaching. Myra is extremely perceptive though, she reads people very well. She doesn't speak up too much in classes, but whenever called upon she has the correct answer waiting in the back of her mind. She's extremely creative and enjoys experimenting with new spells, particularly healing spells. Once she has opened up around people, she is rather quick witted and a little quirky, with an unusual but hilarious sense of humor. Her face is very active and usually reveals her emotions, which she wears on her sleeve. Myra is not too quick to smile, but when she does, her whole face lights up. She really enjoys Quodpot and practices on her own sometimes, and although she's never been brave enough to try out for the team, she feels she would be an excellent player. She also has a school-girl crush on Nolan, the referee, that started when she watched him in the first professional game she ever went to with her father. She goes to the house matches as much to see Nolan as to watch the game.
History
Myra was born to full-blood wizard Allen Magaly and non-magical Vree Wittun. Her parents met and fell in love when Allen was on vacation one weekend just after having graduated from a wizarding school in Canada. They were married shortly thereafter and 2 years later Myra was born, along with her twin brother Melvin. They grew up in a mixed-wizardry home, learning about their father's origins and backgrounds, while attending non-magical schools their mother had attended as a young child. Born and raised in San Diego, California, Myra spent much of her time outdoors, playing with her brother and his friends. When Myra wasn't with Vin though, she was always found with her nose in a book.
Myra has a strong bond with her mother, but has always been closer to her father. When she was very young, Myra's powers would manifest in ways she couldn't control (a cookie appearing in her hand after she'd been told "no" without her having moved, water spilling unexpectedly from a perfectly stable cup on a bully at school, etc.) so her parents decided it would be alright to let her gain knowledge of her wizarding roots. After the decision had been made, Allen would take Myra to various wizarding events, including Quodpot, where they bonded the most. Every year after Myra turned 7, Allen and Myra would always attend the Quodpot finals. While Myra was fully immersed in the non-magical world, her father made sure that she would be well prepared for when she was to enter the wizarding world. Myra generally shared everything she learned with Vin. She couldn't understand why Vin didn't do the thing she did, but generally egged her on to do them. More often than Myra would have liked Vin'd gotten her in trouble by getting her to use her powers. While she'd be furious at him at first, they'd always end up sniggering about it later, all anger forgotten and best friend/confidante forgiven.
On the morning of Myra's 11th birthday she could barely contain her excitement. She woke much earlier than normal and bounded toward the front door of their house, hoping to see a letter waiting for her on the table. Unfortunately, it hadn't come yet. All day she waited by the door, pacing back and forth and wondering where her letter could be, her brother watching from the sidelines with thumbs up signs and smiles. She was positive, after all the random events that had happened in her life, that she would get one. By nightfall, Myra was so distressed that her mother had started to make fun of her growing old too quickly from wrinkles. Melvin had chirped up too, poking fun, but when he'd seen the look in her eye he simply came over and held her hand, knowing (in the way that only twins do) exactly what pain she was in. Her father had a twinkle in his eye as he had put his arm around Vree and announced it was time for the twin's birthday dinner. As the loving family had gathered around the table, a very depressed Myra was on the verge of tears and Vin's heart ached for her. Their father served pre-set plates to Vree, then Vin, then himself, and finally one to Myra. Myra was shocked when, instead of the delicious meal her mother had cooked up, her plate held a letter on it. She tore it open quickly, choking back sobs of joy as she read, "We are pleased to inform you..." Myra tearily and excitedly looked at Vin, who was all smiles and brother pride when Allen's hand clapped him on the shoulder, and, with an extremely warm and tender look in his eye, their dad handed Vin a matching letter. Confused, Vin looked at his mother questioningly. "Looks like you've got some catching up to do," she replied lovingly acknowledging Myra, "I'm juts so proud of both of you!" Myra was elated! Not only did she get to go to the school she'd only ever dreamed of, she got to share the amazing experience with her brother!! Life would be wonderful!
Her birthday present from Vin was a small kitten with large green eyes. She immediately named him Kaplan, after one of her favorite muggle Australian actors and took him with her everywhere. He imprinted her, and doesn't leave her side when he doesn't have to. Quite the opposite of Myra, Kaplan is an "extrovert" and will gladly plop into anyone's lap for a good scratch behind the ear or a long nap.
In her first year at Magus Grex, Myra excelled in her classes, but didn't make many friends. She was horribly shy and had the hardest time connecting to any one person in particular. She constantly heard other students calling her a bookworm and a snob, but she let it roll off her shoulders, knowing she'd come out all right in the end. It wasn't until the end of her second year that she was approached by other students, originally for study help (as the classes were getting harder) and eventually for friendship. She stayed slow to trust, but made a few very close friends in Summer and Naire, who she keeps in touch with over the holidays. She has invited them on various occasions to come to the beach with her family, and is extremely loyal to them, as they have shared deep secrets and many a good time.
Every year now she has watched Quodpot tryouts from afar, clutching her broom to her side, debating whether or not to join. Myra knows the sport back and forth, but is utterly terrified of having to put herself under scrutiny to try out for the team. One of her best friends, Summer, has tried to talk her into it, but Myra just can't bring herself to do it. Perhaps this is the year?
