Background -- The first of the two Kenshin twins, born 5 minutes before his sister, Kou had always seemed like a child of promise. He was never the kind of kid who'd stay quiet or in one place for too long. Kou always was on a move, exploring the world around him. He never cried, and accepted everything around him as an experience, whether it was pleasant or scary. He was always laughing and smiling, taking things as they came. He was walking at 4 months, and speaking at 8. He was a receptive child who always saw the world as a puzzle that needed to be solved, and he never had time to stop for anyone or anything.
Kou was always quick to act on his intuition alone, and never ran into a scenario unprepared. These qualities demonstrated great aptitude as a Magus. Though he didn't emerge from every challenge unscathed, he managed to pick himself back up in the end, stronger then ever. However, on the day of his Magus Initiation, when he was branded with the Maker's Hand and lost most of his memories as a result. He grew timid and reserved, and people mocked and hated him despite his memory loss that resulted in a shift of personality. While Kou would eventually grow to accept this as the reality he had to endure, he secretly always wished to understand why things were the way they were.
The next year would prove to be a trial. While Kou finally had friends, all that became quickly jeopardized with the appearance of a Dark Magus named Bunkatsu. Bunkatsu made short work of Kou and his friend Ryo, resulting in Kou wishing he could be strong enough to defend his friends. Kou became more determined than ever to get stronger, despite his lack of skill as a Magus. Along his path to protect his friends, Kou defeated several powerful Dark Magi, mostly with the aid of his mentor-- Merik. In the end, Kou was able to regain his lost memories, prompting him to make amends for the time he had lost trying to keep everything buried rather than forcing it all to come back to him. After the defeat of Youso, Kou was recognized for his prowess and immediately promoted from Rank 7 to Rank 5.
Kou would spend the next two years in peace, training to be an exorcist while researching the Maker's Hand. However, the arm that was branded began to turn numb and black, causing Kou great worry as well as prompting him to advance any relationships so long as he remained ignorant to the circumstances. Currently, Kou is fighting against fate in hopes of keeping the future he so desperately fought for.

Personality -- Kou isn't one to stand out in a crowd. Despite his red hair and red eyes, he's fairly average, and somewhat anti-social. However, he's still relatively popular despite his anti-social attitude. His general calm attitude gives him an aura of authority, although he tends to break peoples' impression of him fairly quick with his dismissive and pacifistic approach to most scenarios. He's known for his kindness toward those he trusts, and is an excellent councilor on any matter. He is generally fearful, although he channels his fear into caution. While he's generally compassionate and considerate, Kou is also very forgetful, which often leads people to believe he is unreliable. Kou is quite laid back and patient, and seems to look at life with a smile on his face. As a leader, he sticks by those he considers his friends, and can always be depended upon in a serious situation. When things are dire, Kou seems capable of maintaining a level head, enabling him to make tactical and thoughtful decisions. These qualities, coupled with his compassionate and considerate nature, serve to make him a natural leader. However, Kou questions organizations and societies, believing that people should learn why they live and strive for that in order to maintain the purity of their purpose. He does not believe in good and evil, but does believe in right and wrong. He fights "Evil" under the understanding that evil is only what blocks and individual from progress. Under this understanding, evil is not a set thing, but rather whatever one perceives it to be. Kou lives by a creed to never make assumptions, never take anything personally, to be impeccable with his word, and to always try his best. He's a determined and wise individual, despite his lack of hardship until recently, making him an admirable figure in the eyes of many. However, to most, he is still just a kid, and thus is prone to bouts of failure and despair.

Combat Analysis -- Kou was never the strongest, but he serves as living proof that determination yields results. During his training with Merik, Kou was forced to exercise regularly, build up his strength, and practice various martial arts. As a result, he has grown quite powerful. While still only average in terms of strength, Kou can now last longer in terms of combat with high stamina and higher endurance. Still, his magical power is still his greatest strength. Kou is very powerful spiritually, even more so after the first Layer of his seal on the Maker's hand was Broken. Kou now possesses more of a reserve to draw from and spells he casts pack quite a punch. After his stint where he mastered Unity Enlightenment, Kou became even stronger in his understanding and resolve. With source conversion and Nengliang Martial Arts, Kou, is a powerful combatant all around. However, due to his inability to control his magical output, he still ends up exhausting his magical reserves relatively quick. All around, Kou is an adept combatant that demonstrates great potential as a Magus, and always manages to pull through when he has something on the line. However, he is strongest in support; his awareness magics give him a good feel for his surroundings, and his mind is quick enough to come up with winning strategies in only a matter of seconds.

Statistics:

Strength [C] -- Average in terms of strength. Tasks of supreme or above average strength defeat Kou.

Speed [B+] -- Well above average in terms of speed. Able to perform small movements faster than most can see.

Durability [B+] -- Well above average in terms of endurance. Able to withstand heavy injury and blood loss.

Stamina [C+] -- Somewhat above average in terms of vitality. While running a marathon would tire Kou out, running a full mile straight wouldn't.

Reflex [C] -- Average in terms of reaction time. Able to act as quick as he can think, and rarely does instinct take over effectively.

Acuity [B+] -- Well above average in terms of Sharpness and keenness of thought, vision, and hearing. Able to think quickly, and perceptive to a fault.

Magical Output [A++] -- Well beyond excellent in terms of Magical output. Able to utilize high power magecrafts with little drain.

Magical Skill [D] -- Below average in finesse. Most magics are bursts or exhausting displays of energy.

Magical Reserves [A+] -- Exceptional in the amount of magical energy one possesses. Able to use continuous type spells for long periods of time.

Magical Resistance [B] -- Above average in terms of Magical resistance. Toroid field is able to resist strong spells.

Training -- Self taught at the start, Kou developed the Creationist's Field, originally thought to be a spell of awareness. At first it wasn't useful for anything more than sculpting a field of perception to use to one's tactical advantage. As a result, Kou would use this spell as a support mechanism for he and Ryo when they fought Daathic Spirits. It wasn't until Kou sought out Merik that he actually began to learn how to fight. Merik's training was rough, but Kou was able to fully utilize his Creationist's Field at the end, along with the two spells Gaia Shift and Exhaust fist. His training is far from complete, but he's quickly growing from a half baked Magus to an exceptional one.

Strategy -- Kou relies heavily on his Creationist's Field in battle, which gives him several distinct advantages: Control over the terrain, clairvoyance into attacks that would end his life, as well as perception of his enemy's location. This immediately invalidates any stealth techniques an opponent would deploy, forcing the opponent to stick on head-to-head combat over trickery. However, while this strategy poses many strengths, it also has a few weaknesses; one being Kou's clear disadvantage outside of the field, including a loss of control and precognition. Another being the loss of his toroidal field, leaving him open to magical attacks. As a means to cover up these weaknesses, Kou has trained in the Nenglian Liu Quang Martial Arts style, which allows for the redirection of the flow of mana attacks, as well as the use of an opponent's momentum against them. This allows Kou to effectively block magics and take down opponents of greater strength, the only disadvantages being his inability to react to immediate of mental magic attacks, and the fact that he can only use this style fully while in close proximity to his opponent. In order to cover up his additional weaknesses, Kou has trained several mana-type spells. Most are projectiles for the sake of targeting long range opponents who actively chose to dwell outside the field, while a few others were developed to cover minor weaknesses; Mana Geyser used to slow down opponents who are faster than Kou, and Mana Pulse used as a method to fend off projectiles or attackers who are too close for comfort. Unlike most, Kou is actually weakest at the start of a battle, but gets progressively stronger the more it drags out. While his durability and stamina are nothing special, his skills require setting up, and if the battle goes on for long enough, Kou can use the Exhaust Fist, a technique that gathers wasted energy and uses it against the opponent in one, devastating strike.

Spells:
Creationist's Field [Rank: EX; Type: Field]: Kou's first magic, originally thought to be a spell of awareness. It would be a dramatic underestimation to say that the Creationist's Field is a powerful field magic. Rather, it is the most powerful field magic ever to be documented within the Akashic Record. By either putting his hands or the end a staff to the ground, Kou can set up this field in a 25 meter radius in a fraction of a second. It not only supplies a good feel for the layout of an area, but even mundane details of where certain objects are placed to the fraction of a centimeter. Once this field is placed, Kou essentially gains complete control of the area, making it into his playing field. It has also proven to give Kou an improved countering ability by giving him clairvoyance in his enemy's attack a few seconds before it is delivered. This is best explained not as foresight, but alteration of fate. The fate of all within the field are subject to change. However, Kou can only control his fate under the actions of others, and cannot control others' fate. Yet, despite the power of the clairvoyance, Kou still cannot act against the movements of others unless his physical skill surpasses theirs. Under Unity Enlightenment, it becomes apparent that a creationists' fields are expansions of the caster's consciousness under the consciousness' shifting movement, similar to how Source (God) Created infinity and the universe. Because of the "God Movement Pattern" in the initial set up of the spell, it would be accurate the say a creationists' role within the field is "as a god rules over his domain". This is true, as a Creationts' field is their own universal pocket of which they make domain of.
Mana Bullet [Rank: C; Type: Anti-Unit/Projectile]: Kou's second spell, the Mana Bullet is a somewhat generic, long-range aetheral spell. The caster conjures a glyph and fires a bullet of pure, unadulterated, mystic energy that shoots in a straight line with the power of a canon. It isn't a complex spell that takes time to cast or difficult to dispel, but a rather barbaric spell with the simple purpose of destruction. Because of Kou's poor Magical Skill, the Mana Bullet is a powerful blast of destructive energy that hits at long range. It is quick to cast, but the longer it is charged, the more powerful it becomes.
Mana Volley [Rank: B; Type: Anti-Army]: Kou's Third Spell, Mana volley is similar to Mana Blast in its simple nature, but requires a level of restraint to use. Using Source Energy developed by the soul, the caster can produce several orbs of energy that can be shot at the opponent in a volley assault. While not as powerful as Mana Blast, it maintains a level of finesse that allows for guided attacks.
Gaia Shift [Rank: S; Type: Alteration]: Kou's Fourth spell, and a powerful Unity Magic, Gaia shift allows one to alter the earth as they will, by giving the command to the earth mother Gaia, or so long as it is under the Creationist's Field. Gaia Shift is not necessarily a combat-based spell, but rather a spell designed for change. It would be highly inaccurate to say this is an Earth-Based spell, as it is more a manipulation of the forces of nature under Gaia's will (Or in Kou's case, /his/ will due to the effects of his creationist's field). Because of the dramatic power of the spell, and the finesse it is used with, one must have both high magical output and skill in order to use this spell effectively. Due to Kou's poor magical skill, he can only shift the earth in dramatic, noticeable ways. This attack can only be used by Kou under a Creationists' Field.
Mana Ray [Rank: A; Type: Anti-Army/Continuous]: Kou's Fifth Spell, and another simple spell like Mana Blast and Mana Volley before it. Unlike either, though, Mana ray is a continuous. A glyph as tall as Kou in diameter is conjured, and from it a concentrated beam of source energy is fired. As long as Kou has a reserve of Mana, this spell can be fired without end. It covers kilometers in range, which grants it an anti-army typing.
Exhaust Fist [Rank: S; Type: Anti-Unit/Burst]: Kou's Sixth Spell, and a powerful unity magic. A spell built around the concept of entropy, the Exhaust Fist absorbs all "Wasted Energy" within a given area, or in Kou's case, a Creationist's field, and collects it into the Caster's hand. From this point, the caster can absorb the energy to replenish their reserves, or release the energy in a powerful attack. A little bit of entropy can be collected for swift punches that are more effective than a regular punch. However, due to Kou's poor Magical Skill, he cannot control the attack to such degrees. As a result, when Kou gathers energy, he gathers all of it, and Kou can only release that energy in a powerful attack. Due to the fact that longer the battle wages, the more powerful this attack becomes, Kou often uses this move as a finishing attack. This attack can only be used by Kou under a Creationists' Field.
Mana Geyser [Rank: A+; Type: Anti-Army/Continuous]: Another mana type spell Kou mastered after his Unity enlightenment training. Mana geyser is another simple cast, only made more complicated by quantity. Kou charges mana into his palm, and then slams his palm on the ground, causing many glyphs (about half a meter in diameter) to spawn at random along the earth and fire upwards. The glyphs do not spawn anywhere within two feet of Kou as a method of defense against his own attack. Due to the unreliable spawn rate and the inability to specify who it targets, Kou uses this move mostly as a defensive maneuver against rapid opponents.
Mana Pulse [Rank: C+; Type: Barrier/Pulse]: Kou's final Mana type cast, mastered after his Unity Enlightenment Training. Mana Pulse is a purely defensive maneuver designed for the express purpose of blasting back opponents with average durability and bringing those above average to a momentary halt. Kou charges mana into his arms before launching them out, which erupts the pulse effecting anything within a three meter radius. It can also dissolve projectile spells of an equal or lesser rank.
Eldrich Cannon [Rank: S; Type: Anti-Fortress]: A very unique, old, arcane and powerful magic, the Eldrich Cannon is possibly the most powerful long range spell Kou has at his disposal. It calls upon the literal power of the most arcane of forces, from god and source to the human soul, from the spirits of the earth to the stars that dot the night sky, from the consciousness of the caster to the ever-expansive universe. The Eldrich Cannon, a demonization of the purity of the Universe, is a powerful spell that draws from the mana produced by one's existence as subjective part of unity consciousness. It is the deepest connection to the first magics wielded by the first and only Magus to ever become an Ascended Master; Merlin. In order to use it, one must understand Unity in its deepest levels, and as a result it is said that only sorcerers of Unity can begin to delve into the understanding of the Eldrich arts. Eldrich Cannon is the most simple of these arts, and it is considered a "tainted spell". Unity Magics of the Eldrich level are meant to further along a Magus' understanding of the universe and help bring love and light into mass consciousness. Eldrich Cannon defies this purpose by corrupting it with its sole intent of destruction. Despite its roots in Unity school, this spell is unclassified by schools in general, which is why it falls under the Eldrich arts. This attack can only be used by Kou under a Creationists' Field.

Abilities:
Néngliàng Liú Quán (能量流拳, Energy Current Fist[?]) [Rank: A+; Type: Martial Art]: Because Kou's first step in combat is to set up the Creationist's Field, Kou usually ends up with no way to resist magical attacks of any frequency due to his lack of a toroid field in place of the Creationist's Field. Because of this, Kou had to train in order to compensate for this weakness in the Nengliang Liu Quan fighting style. A Style developed in ancient China, Nengliang Liu Quan is a martial art that combats against magic. It literally means "Energy Current Fist", and rightfully so. Nengliang Fighters are spiritually trained to track currents in magical energy, and use their bodies as catalysts to course the energy through their bodies and redirect it. To do this, they must convert the base form of the energy launched at them into mystical energy to travel through energy meridians. Nengliang Liu Quan was the gateway martial arts style that helped develop many fighting styles used amongst Seers today. As a result, the martial Arts form was thought to be lost.
Source Conversion [Rank: S; Type: Arcane Art]: A powerful ability learned by Unity Magi under the Unity Enlightenment. As the belief that "All is one and One is All" is more deeply understood, the Unity Magus begins to delve a deeper connection to their Magics. Under Kou's understanding, it is that the Universe was born under a lone consciousness that expanded its knowledge through a Creationists' Field. This consciousness was dubbed as "Source", and from it comes all life. Source is theoretical, multi-dimensional energy that transitions into light, light develops a spectrum, and so on and so forth. All that is comes from source, and from source comes all there is. Such is the Kaleidoscope of the universe, an ever-shifting paradigm, and from it branches all meaning. Under this understanding, Kou can take any form of matter, real or theoretical, and use his own mana to give it form, transitioning that which exists into energy to use, or energy to use into that which exists.
Kongen Kazaguruma (根源風車, Root Windmill [?]) [Rank: A++; Type: Buff]: A bloodline technique unique to the Kenshin line, this technique allows for the synchronization with the 1st Chakra (Muladhara). Muladhara is related to instinct, security, survival and also to basic human potentiality. When this ability is triggered, the user not only gets a boost in these fields, but becomes surrounded in a thick cloak of corrosive, fiery red mana. This mana can be utilized for enhanced spell casting. However, the ability possesses a drawback that is also its greatest strength; when triggered, the user reverts to mammalian cognitive function, reacting only on flight or fight response. If trying to escape a powerful enemy, the ability boosts the caster's evasive manuevers and speed, allowing them to evade even the fastest opponents. If trying to defeat an enemy, the caster lacks the ability to utilize tactics and strategy, relying solely on instinct and raw power to outdo their opponents. Due to the purity of Kou's blood, he can override the 'berserker' state and use the ability in a more controlled way. However, he lacks the knowledge to trigger it on command.

Thankfully, the it was only sunset.
Image
The bright yellow sun drifted down behind the horizon, creating hues that shifted from a bright yellow, to a deep magenta, then to a dark purple, before fading to a deep blue dotted with distant white lights overhead. The buildings that composed the view and their giant shadows that loomed behind them were captivating.
It was too bad that Kou couldn't admire them. He was filled with worry, wondering where Misato could have gone.
Shintinabe was dangerous at this time of day, and that concerned the fiery haired magus. His red eyes drifting back and forth across the landscape as he ran with panicked feet, frantic footsteps echoing through the abandoned district.
"Misato!!" He shouted at the top of his lungs, twisting and turning through the alleyways.
"Misato?!! Where are you!?!" He called out in vain, hos voice growing hoarse with each yell.
It wasn't until beads of sweat collected at his brow, and he had all but lost his breath that he caught sight of the girl, standing on an overpass, looking at the sunset.
"Misato..." He said meekly with relief, before running up to where she was.

Misato was staring blankly out at the horizon, her head resting against one hand. She seemed completely oblivious to Kou, and the fact that he was calling her name. Completely oblivious to everything, actually. Even the bitter cold that rushed around her went unnoticed, despite the fact that she'd run off without her jacket.

Kou made it to the overpass, looking at her carefully to check if she was hurt.
Thankfully, she was alright.
"Misato..." Kou sighed with relief, and proceeded to walk to her.
He was more than just happy to see her. Kou was overcome with feeling that warmed him at the core. His heart pounded, as he looked at the visage of the woman he loved, illuminated by the warm glow of the setting sun. Misato was quite beautiful. Her most stunning feature of all was her eyes. They were like a cat's: refined yet somewhat wild, glowing with independance. Kou would stared into those teal beauties of hers, he'd always find himself so captiavted that he was unable to speak.
But... Something was wrong. Her eyes were blank. She seemed so... Distant. Kou didn't like this.
Once he got close to her, he spoke.
"Misato, what's wrong?" He asked, reaching for her hand.

Misato jumped slightly, her head whipping in the direction of Kou's voice, eyes wide. Her heart beat so loudly in her ears that she reckoned he could hear it too. That same heart skipped a beat as she recognized the flaming hair and look of concern written across the face of the one person in the world who would bother to come after her.
She let her hand slip into his, though she couldn't exactly bring herself to speak. Her eyes flickered over his face for the briefest moment before looking away, the same way she had looked at him on the first day of school.

Misato pressed the tips of her fingers against his chest, over his heart. She smiled a little at the steady drumming of his pulse.
"I'm glad your heart is still beating." She spoke softly. "I was afraid it would have stopped a while ago."
She stepped forward and rested her forehead against his shoulder. "I wish it didn't have to stop beating. That it wouldn't, and you didn't have to be the one put through all this."

"Everything will be fine, Misato." Kou said, gripping her hand reassuringly with his right hand; the hand with the Mark of the Maker.
"As long as I have this last layer of the seal... I'll live a long enough time to fulfill my dreams.
We'll make it through this. And then... We'll go an see the world together."

Despite not fully believing what he said, Misato nodded slightly.
"I wish.." She started, straining to form the words she wanted to say. "I wish we could have gotten married.." She muttered into his shoulder. "You could have met my dad.. And my mom.. I think you would have gotten along well with them.."

Kou laughed reassuringly.
"And we still can, Misato. I have a good 20 to 30 years left." He placed a hand under her chin, tilting her head up so her eyes could meet his. So she could see the sincerity in his gaze, and hear it in his voice. He meant everything he was saying. It was no lie.
"You're getting all angsty for no reason. I'm alive. I will live for a good deal of time. And I want to spend all that time with you."

Something about the way he spoke made her breath hitch. Or maybe it was just being around him in general. This flame headed goofball, this..extremely sweet soul. Misato's gaze softened a little and her expression melted into a smile.
"Let's get Thelema out of the way then, so we can have some more time to spend together."

Threading her fingers through his, Misato nodded. Even though she wouldn't admit it, his hands alone were probably warm enough. But, she didn't argue with him as they started down the stairs to the overpass.
