Having a creamy pale complexion, naturally dark hair (But platinum blond when dyed), sharp features and an often intimidating demeanor, Erin takes on after both her mother and father. There is a bit of masculinity among her features but she was never bothered by it. In fact, there is something handsomely dark but beautiful about the way she looks. They say that her eyes can be hypnotic, two slightly dull orbs, a mix of moss green and honey. Holding your gaze until you break eye contact. She's by no means unnattractive, least by most people's standards. But she sees herself as nothing more than average and carries herself to the beat of her own drum, never really caring how she's viewed by others.

Compared to almost everyone in Scarriden, Erin is overly aware that he is super hero. She often has conversations with her two internal monologues. Notably, Erin has said that "her 'Logical voice' would probably appear in yellow captions with Comic Sans font, and her more 'Psychotic Voice' would probably appear in white captions with the Typewriter Serif font." Whatever the hell that means, is just about anyone's guess.

Erin is known for having an accelerated healing factor, which not only prevents her from being permanently injured through enhanced cell regeneration throughout her body, and defy death, but it has also caused psychosis and mental instability. As her neurons are also affected by the accelerated regeneration. It is thought that while her psychoses are a handicap, they are also one of her assets as they make her an extremely unpredictable opponent. A super-villain that Erin has considered one of the bigger pains in her ass, is Taskmaster, who has photo-reflexive memory which allows him to copy anyone's fighting skills by observation, was unable to defeat Erin due to her chaotic and improvised fighting style. Taskmaster has also stated that Isimir is an expert at distracting her opponents.

Erin has also notably taken on the mantle of 'Merc With a Mouth', which others have said sounds rather familiar, but she's quick to dismiss those claims.

Contrary to what others may think, Erin has a strong sense of core morality. While her general actions and ways of going about things can be considered violent and pointless or evens selfish, as she's usually seen stealing items and money whenever she takes care of a heist. While in reality, every time she has ended up either donating the money to charities or funds at hospitals to help in research for cures.

For those that do know her though, that know the true Erin behind the mask and behind the insanity, know that she is incredibly loyal and kind, if just not under several layers of walls. She's had to guard herself ever since she was young, having to fight for herself and others. Having to put her life on the line countless times for others, because she knows that no matter what, she'll come back when others won't.

Not many people know the truth behind who the figure that's been referred to as Isimir, really is. No one has seen her face, and those who have, haven't lived to tell the tale. She's kept so much of her identity and past a secret, as well as never really knowing much even about her and what people do know, well, it's a mess. To say the very least. As well as due to the sheer levels of insanity, mood swings she bares, people had actually begin to think that Isimir wasn't just one person. That there must have been more than one, due to how different they could be in different interactions.

But the truth behind the person who dawns the mask, is much much darker than anyone would ever know. Even one of her most trusted friends, Markus Vasco, or as people know, Shadowfaux, doesn't know of her past. And she'd prefer to keep it that way.

The truth of the matter is, Erin was born into a home of two people who were very anti-supers. They hated just anything about them, often arguing or discussing very late into the night just how 'monsterous' and 'freaks of nature' supers were. From as far back as Erin can remember, she would lie awake at night, listening to her parents talk about how people 'like her' were these terrible things. Seeing as Erin's powers weren't anything visible or very noticable, she was able to keep it hidden. But that only lasted for so long.

One night, Erin found herself being violently woken up and dragged out of her bed and pulled into the bathroom by her father. Who shouted and yelled at her, demanding her to tell them that it wasn't true. She was confused until they revealed that someone she knew, had told them that she was a super. Which she immediately denied, out of pure fear as she knew what they would do. And as she imagined, it happened that night.

From what she can remember. There was water, freezing cold water. She was gasping for air, feeling her lungs fill with water. Over and over again until it all went black. Until she woke up sometime later, strapped to a table. It was from that moment on, that her life changed forever. From the age of twelve to sixteen, she was put through ruthless, barbaric and violent means of testing just how far her abilities could go. Seeing as she was not only able to heal, but literally come back from the dead on her own volition.

The four years that ensued, had wracked and broken her mind to the point of where Erin had developed a personality disorder to help cope with the trauma. Often saying how she can hear two voices in her own head, or not able to remember certain events happening. It was only during one of her 'tests' that she was able to break herself free and escape the compound. Fleeing for her life.

Erin spent months being homeless. Stealing and doing whatever she could to get by. It was only when she ran into a rather known superhero that her life changed. He introduced himself as Shadowfaux, and everything had changed for Erin. After revealing himself to be named Markus, the two quickly formed a sibling like relationship. If Erin was being honest with herself, she wasn't sure how to feel about him. But after he helped her come to terms with her powers not being a bad thing, but her greatest assset, that her life turned for the better.

The next thing Erin knew, Isimir and Shadowfaux were fighting crime. A somewhat underground duo, that not many people knew. But their reputation grew. She found herself having a family, and it all felt right. That was until a mission went horribly wrong. It was Erin, Markus, and another hero that got abducted and tortured for days. Only two of them came out alive, and it was because Erin hadn't stopped talking. She refused to let anything further happen to Markus.

It was that mission that caused her to split away from Markus. Blaming herself for them being abducted and their friend being killed. She blamed her carelessness for them being captured, and her fault an innocent life was lost. That was two years ago, and Erin has been on her own since. Just like before, it was her against the world. Running from those who hated her entire existence. Isimir knows that something is coming, that supers on either side are being captured and turning up dead days later. She doesn't know what's going on, or who's behind it. But she knows there's only one person in this world she can trust to help her uncover it, and she's been searching the shadows for him since...

A B I L I T I E S
In simplest terms, Isimir has the ability of Regeneration. Due to her extraordinary healing powers, Erin can regenerate damaged or destroyed areas of her cellular structure at a rate far greater than that of an ordinary human, and other supers alike. For example, she can regrow severed limbs or vital organs. But at a slower rate, depending on what the injury is, and was caused by. A bullet or stab wound can heal itself within a few minutes, but regrowing a limb or organ can take up to a few hours or even days. On top of her ability to regenerate, Erin also possesses superhuman levels of stamina. Her strength, agility, and reflexes are also beyond the natural limits of the human body.

Also due to the high rate at which Erin finds herself regenerating, in essence, she is able to come back from the dead if she does die. As to quote Isimir herself, "Death and me just don't stick, ya feel me?". Depending on the severity of her death, it can take anywhere from a few minutes, to even a few hours. But she always comes back, and the wounds will have mostly healed over by the time she reawakens. She's most notably said that every time she dies, she experiences slight headaches, entire body aches and is incredibly hungry, as her hightened metabolism rate is what also helps drive her powers.

One down side to her powers, the amount of times she has died, and due to her past experiences, Erin's sanity has almost entirely been demolished. Often seen talking to no one, or as if she's talking to an invisible audience. Due to her lack of general sanity, she's often the one to take risks that others would never think of, as well as her powers allowing her to do things others would literally die attempting to do.

Lucian just rolled his eyes as Erin said they could have done with a head’s up. “Rather unfortunately, being able to predict the future isn’t exactly in my arsenal of skills,” he drawled sarcastically, but nodded as Markus confirmed that they’d taken a few out. Honestly, the fewer guards they had to deal with, the better.

He nodded again as Markus said that they were looking for anything that could give them an advantage, catching his eye as he did so. It seemed they had the same thought. They were looking for something to give them a head-start on the people chasing them, anything that would make the fight a little easier.

“Exactly. Any information we can get will be useful, but like Shadowfaux said, we’re especially looking for anything that could give us an advantage. Names, paper trails, bank details, anything. I think it’s best we stick together, though. The guards know we’re here, so I’d imagine they’re going to try ganging up on us. It’ll be easier if we can deal with them as a group. Offices we’re after are on the third floor. They look like normal offices but I’m willing to bet that some of those spreadsheets aren’t what they appear to be. If we get split up and things go south, head back to the apartment, we’ll meet back there. Let’s get moving.”

Lucian wished he could say he was surprised when they were greeted on the third floor by three guards, but he wasn't. They were all armed, guns pointed at the three of them. But they made the mistake of hesitating, and Luc telepathically pulled the gun from one of their hands and hurled it across the room. Luc swung for him with the knife, but the man intercepted, grabbing Luc’s arm hard enough for Luc to drop the knife. But the man wasn’t letting go, and swept a leg into Luc’s legs, knocking him to his knees. His arm twisted painfully behind his back, Lucian spotted the knife just outside of his reach. He lunged forward to grab it, pain bursting into his shoulder, and drove the knife into the man’s calf. The shock was enough for him to release Luc, and Luc pulled the knife free and went for the stomach instead. The man sank like a stone, and Luc clumsily got to his feet, wiping his knife down, glancing at Markus, then Erin. “Everyone okay?” He asked. The man had had enough of a grip on Lucian’s arm and had been holding him in such a way that when Luc had lunged for his knife, he was pretty sure he’d dislocated his shoulder. Not being able to use his arm wouldn’t be ideal, but they needed to keep going before more guards showed up. “After you,” he said, gesturing to the lift.

"Clearly..." Erin mumbled out a response to Lucian's comment in response to her's. But immediately fell silent when Markus shot her a disaproving glare. Choosing to make the better decision in this case, Erin bit and held her tongue, stopping her from saying anything else in response. Simply standing patiently as the others talked. At least as much as she was able to. Erin's eyes scanned over the lobby, as she absentmindedly listened to the others discuss things. She already had a feeling of what Lucian was going to say, and her thoughts were only confirmed when he said they'd need to look for anything, from documents, papers, anything at all. Even if it were just names. It was a starting point.

Once they all agreed on their next course of action, finding the nearest lift was surprisingly easy. But what wasn't so surprising, was when the door opened to the third floor, and a few guards were already there waiting. "For fuck's sake-" was all she was able to get out before Lucian was the first one to jump into action. Erin had just enough time to see Lucian manage to engage with one of the guard's, which left two open for her and Markus.

In almost a flurry of motions, Erin had lunged out of the lift, using the distraction that Lucian had used to her advantage. Bending her legs a bit, Erin pushed herself off of the wall, and wrapped her arm around one of the guard's neck, immediately forcing pressure. After a small struggle, as the guard's movements began to become sluggish, in another swift motion of Erin's arm and the man's neck, there was an ungodly crack and the body sunk to the ground as Erin pulled herself away from the body. Taking a few deep breaths as she noticed Lucian and Markus had both taken care of their respective guards. "Yeah, I'm good..." Erin reassured. Getting back to her feet as she combed her hair.

Erin took notice of the look that overcame Lucian's face as he gestured for the other two. Raising an eyebrow as she slowly approached him, and before Lucian would be able to react never-mind argue, Erin grabbed his arm and knocked it back into place with his shoulder. "-Now we're good to go. Can't have one of your wings clipped, right?" Erin patted Lucian on the back, before side-stepping and making their way to their next point of interest.

Markus already had a bit of a hunch for what Lucian was going to say, but being able to get that second set of reassurance is what he really wanted. So when it was universally agreed that all they really needed was anything regarding to key information, or even just names, they'd be able to work with that and move on from there.

So when they stepped out of the lift a few short minutes later, Markus hadn't exactly been expecting another group of guards. At least not this early already. But if they were already waiting for them, it meant that their presence was already detected by this point. Which, on one hand, wasn't all that shocking. Considering their track record by this point, but it also wasn't good as it meant that things could go horribly wrong from here on out. Assuming things hadn't already gotten to that point yet.

It was only a matter of seconds when Lucian already had one of the guards distracted, as did Erin. Which only meant one was left, and it was Markus' turn. He slowly looked to the guard who was left standing, clearly in a state of shock as his two companions were easily taken down within seconds. Markus quickly used this to his advantage, grabbing the guard by the arm, Markus brought both of their heads together and the man stepped back as pain shot through his skull. Further disorientating him. Markus stepped out of the lift, as small shadows began to swirl around the guard's feet and slowly climb up the guards legs, as if they were vines along the trunk of a tree. A small grin formed on Markus' lips as he continued to encroach.

Using the 'shadow vines' as another form of distraction, Markus looped one of his arms around the guard, and vaulted over him with ease. Bringing the guard to the ground as he collapsed under Markus' own weight. The two sunk to the ground with a thud, and Markus could feel the guard struggle for a few more moments as he attempted to breathe. Grunts of protest and gargled gasped for air escaped the guard's lips before Markus added more force and the man's unconcious form slumped and went still.

Markus looked at the other two as they had taken care of the other two, giving them both an approving smirk. "Yeah, I think we're good." he reassured, alongside Erin. Markus watched quizically as Erin walked over to Lucian, and with one swift motion there was an audible pop between Lucian's arm and shoulder. Immediately piecing together that his arm must have become dislocated at some point within the previous scuffle. A small frown formed on his face for a moment, but he wasn't going to let more clear concern overtake him. They had a job to do, and needed to finish it before even more guards came. "Let's get going, shall we?" Markus motioned as he followed after Erin, with Lucian in tow.

Lucian nodded as Markus confirmed that he was all good. He almost didn’t notice Erin approaching him until it was too late, and she forced his shoulder back into place. “Jesus fuck-” he swore. Erin sauntered away, and he shot her a glare. But he rolled his shoulder, the worst of the pain gone, and sighed. “Thanks,” he said. He caught a flicker of something on Markus’ face for half a moment, before he suggested that they moved on. Lucian nodded, keeping his knife drawn just in case.

They started searching through the various computers they found. For the most part, nothing seemed that remarkable. Small details, here and there, that gave away things weren’t totally as they seemed. But nothing they didn’t already know, and nothing concrete that they could use. That was, until they broke into one of the larger offices. Lucian got into the computer, and for a while, it seemed like there was nothing new. And then he found emails that weren’t all they seemed. It was a start, and a start that led him down a rabbit hole. Until he found details. Financial details about the money that had switched hands to convince people to turn a blind eye to supers going missing and turning up dead. And then the jackpot. The company behind the funds. A scientific company, presumably the ones intending to use the supers as nothing more than specimens in experiments.

“Guys, I have something. You guys probably want to see this,” he said, plugging a USB stick into the laptop to copy everything, before moving away from the screen to let them read it. “Does that company name mean anything to either of you two?” He asked, leaning back against the desk and folding his arms.

"Don't mention it." Erin said cooly as Lucian had thanked her for fixing his arm. Keeping her eyes and ears out as they proceeded down the hallways, peering around every corner they could until they found the offices they were in need of. Erin had patiently and silently pressed her ear to the office door's and waited. Making sure no one else was inside before entering, and then proceeded to clear the room out before the other entered. She knew if she entered first, and anything were to happen, it'd be enough of a distraction for the other two to possibly get somewhere safe.

Once they entered, the three of them began looking through varies folders, binders, shelves, everything. Erin was busy looking through anything she could find at all. But all she was finding were random letters, however cryptic they were, they weren't what she needed to find. But as she continued to look through a large, black binder, a few things slowly began to stick out to her. It was simple enough, a few names here and there. Certain terms in the letters and documents. Things she had heard her entire life, but Erin just shrugged it off as typical anti-super views. As for the names well, they were pretty common, right? So, there were just commonalities, no concrete information yet.

At least, that was until Lucian called for the other two to take a look at what he found on one of the computers. Erin rolled her eyes, as she didn't want to stop her search just yet, but after exchanging glances with Markus, she sighed, putting the folder down and walked over to Lucian. Erin gave him a small shrug, before turning to look at the computer monitor. Her eyes steadily scanning over the screen as she read everything. Trying to see if she could pick anything out specifically. But everything she read was common and usual bullshit that you'd see in these forms of documentation. And then it happened. Erin's eyes locked onto the company's name, and she felt herself freeze in place. Her heart felt like it plumetted to her stomach. It suddenly became hard for her to breathe, and her was no longer in full control of her body. Her muscles tightened up, her back locked up, and her eyes were glued to the screen as her jaw hung loosely and her eyes transfixed. Aegis Corporation. Those words hit her like a ton of bricks.

Erin didn't know how long she had been standing, frozen in place before she felt arms wrap around her and pull her to the side, a familiar voice trying to garner her attention. But it all sounded muddled out. As if she was submerged under war. Close, but yet so distant. Erin finally blinked once more, finding herself able to breathe again as she instictivley stepped back a few steps. Combing her fingers through her hair, Erin looked back at them, hands still trembling as she looked at the boys, "We...We need to go. Now. Like, fuck all of this. We need to take that USB stick, and get the fuck out of here." Erin rambled, pacing back and forth as she did. "I will explain why, just, we need to get out of here, now. It's not safe." Erin turned back towards the door, unsheathing both of her remaining daggers now and peered outside of the door, waiting for the other two to finally get what they needed, and leave.

Markus had cautiously followed the other two down the halls, keeping towards the back of the group as the other two took the lead. Markus ducked into the room after Erin had scouted it out, closing the door softly behind them, before he began looking for anything they could find. He looked over as Erin was busily searching through shelves and binders, clearly finding at least something that seemingly caught her eye as she was transfixed for a few moments before moving onto the next. He shrug his shoulders, and went back to work looking through a few filing cabinets.

He scanned over basic documents and papers that he came across, nothing particular standing out to him through his searches. After a few minutes, Markus thought it was an entire bust, all things considered. None of them had brought anything to their attention, and he was about ready to suggest looking at another office, before Lucian spoke up. His attention was immediately given to Lucian, placing back the documents in the file-drawer, Markus walked over to Lucian, as did Erin.

With furrowed brows, Markus looked to the monitor, his eyes scanning over everything until he looked at the name. Pausing for a few moments. Markus could have sworn he heard at least maybe mentions or even whispers and rumors about Aegis. But he didn't know that it was some sort of corporation. Normally he'd shrug it off as nothing, but if it was buried in files, especially with everything they already knew, it couldn't have been good. Looking to Erin to see if she had a better idea of it, caused his stomach to drop.

Seeing the look on her face, her eyes un-moving from the screen. Markus gently placed one of his hands on her shoulder, "C'mon, what's up?" Markus said softly. Nothing. Not even a flinch. Markus looked back at Lucian for a moment, before turning back to Erin, "C'mon, it's not funny. What is it?" Markus questioned once more, before moving her off to the side and away from the monitor. "If you know something, you need to say it now. Just breathe, alright? Breathe.." he said reassuringly.

After a few more minutes, Erin seemed to snap out of it, and back away. But not before breaking into a panicked ramble. Which, Markus immediately took of note. Pausing for a moment before looking at Lucian. If there was anything about Erin, that he trusted more than her loyalty, was her fear. As long as he knew Erin, there was next to nothing that scared her. She could look fear itself in the eyes and laugh. Hell, she did countless times. So, the fact that whatever she knew about this Aegis Corporation, immediately didn't sit right with Markus. He looked back towards Lucian, "We need to listen to her. If there's one thing I know, she doesn't react like that for nothing. We need to go, now." Markus re-affermed Erin's previous statement.

Thankfully, they were all on agreement, however reluctant. Putting everything they would back where it belonged, and high-tailed it out of there. Thankfully, their escape was easier than entering the building. Which, also didn't exactly sit right with Markus, but the three of them, after a few detours to make sure no one was following them, eventually arrived back at the apartment. Once they were all back inside, and making sure no one else was in the apartment, Markus turned to look at Erin, "Okay, you need to tell us what you know. Why was it, that seeing that name, shook you like it did. We need to know what we're up again, 'Rin-" "It's my parents, Markus!" Erin retorted almost immediately. The tone in her voice was clearly pained, and came out as more of a choke than an abled tone.

Markus was taken aback by the sudden revelation. Markus knew he wasn't exactly informed about Erin's past and family. But this, wasn't what he was expecting to hear. Markus sat down in one of the chairs, his weight sinking into it as there was a soft creak. His eyes were glued to the ground, his mind trying to wrap around what he was just told.

Lucian could see Erin’s whole posture change as she read the screen. He shot a glance at Markus as she froze, staring at the screen for a few minutes. And then when she moved again, he knew it wasn’t good. He glanced at Markus again. He felt like they could do some more digging; but Erin was clearly freaking out. When Markus said they needed to go, it was the last confirmation he needed. He nodded, pulling out the USB and shoving it into his pocket, before drawing both of his knives and following them out.

They got back to the apartment safe and sound, a blessing that probably would have had him on guard any other time, but that he was just glad about for the time being. He wasn’t sure Erin was in a place to be able to fight, and Markus seemed so worried about her, Lucian doubted he would have been at his best either.

The first thing he did as soon as they got in was go straight to the kitchen and retrieve three glasses, pouring a decent measure of whiskey into each. He barely even had this done before Erin exploded, revealing what the problem was. He nearly dropped the glasses. His first instinct was to watch Markus’ reaction, but that didn’t give him much hope.

Lucian’s gaze switched to Erin, studying her quickly. His first, immediate reaction had been to question if this was some sort of sick trick, if she had been a mole for them all along, and now they had her figured out, sooner than expected. But Erin’s reaction hadn’t been one of someone who had been discovered to be a mole. It was one of shock. Of horror. Of heartbreak.

It was a reaction that Lucian recognised, because it was similar to the reaction he’d had when they’d discovered that the same thing that had happened to these kids was happening again.

He studied Erin for another moment, before walking over to her, pressing a glass into her hand. “Sit down,” he said softly. Not an order, but a suggestion. He pressed the second glass into Markus’ hands before going and getting his own.

He sat down, staring into his glass as he tried to formulate the words. “I’m guessing they didn’t take too kindly to you being one of us, huh?” He asked. “I know what that’s like. The only people in the world who are supposed to love you unconditionally instead see you as a monster, as something… unholy. And despite that, you… you still try to see the good in them, you try to say they’re not that bad. Until you realise… they are.” He smiled a little sadly. “Okay, none of my foster parents ran secret organisations determined to research and “cure” supers, so I’m not going to claim I know all about it. But I do… understand.” He said. “And my suggestion is that, tonight, we finish that bottle of whiskey, and we forget about everything. Just for tonight. We don’t need to figure anything else out right now,” he said, glancing at Markus almost without thinking. They’d all been running on high alert for so long, he knew that they all needed to take their minds off of things properly and relax, and he just hoped the hero agreed.

Erin was silent for a long while, before she felt something being handed to her and gently gestured to sit down. Immediately flopping onto the floor with a soft thud, she crossed her legs infront of her, staring into her drink rather solemnly. Blinking as she listened to Lucian begin to talk. Knowing that Markus was entirely unable to speak. Even if he wanted, to, she doubted he'd be even able to formulate proper thoughts. She couldn't blame him. Erin appreciated everything that Lucian had to say, she really did. Knowing that at least someone out there, had even the slightest bit of an understanding, it helped. Even if it was just a little, but it was all she needed in that moment. Erin took a deep breath.

With a single gulp, Erin downed the glass in hand, before gesturing for it to be refilled. Looking down once more she took a deep breath before she began to speak, "I need to preface...By saying I honestly had no idea. I had no idea who was involved. Nevermind who it ended up being...Until just a bit ago." she began, taking another sip. "My parents...They hated people like us. Supers, I mean...", Erin began. Chewing the inside of her lip, "The entirety of my childhood life, I would go to bed at night hearing them argue and drone on about how 'Supers were freaks of nature' and 'Needed to be cured', so on and so forth." Erin's shoulders drooped a bit, having to force herself to relive everything all over again stung, but she knew she had to explain it. No matter how hard it was going to be. She had to.

"It was only when they found out that I had...powers, that things got...bad." Erin shuddered. "Due to the...nature of my powers, they were easy to keep concealed. As long as I didn't get hurt, it was entirely undetectable. But, someone I trusted, or thought I could trust, betrayed me and, told them. In turn, I was taken out of my bed one night and...Let's just say the full extent of my powers were realized, even me." Erin looked down, swallowing hard before she took a sip of her drink again. "I could...Defy death itself. I was about fourteen at the time..." Erin shook her head, glancing up at the both of them for a moment, before looking back down. Unable to look them in the eyes.

"With the knowledge of knowing I could cheat death, they put their experiments to the test. Just about anything and everything, I was a subject to. They wanted to see just how far my regeneration could go, and how far they could push me until...Coming back, didn't work. As you can see, I can take just about anything...and then some." she downed the rest of her glass before leaning all the way back, laying her back against the floor as she looked up at the ceiling.

"Markus didn't know me then, but...Before the tests, I was just about as sane as any of you. I honestly think it was the shit they put me through that...broke me. And...No matter how high my regeneration may be, my brain never, recovered like everything else. More or less shot itself and, well, we see how someone reacts to dying about 850 times." Erin chuckled bitterly. "One day I, I was finally able to get myself free and, I haven't seen them since I was about seventeen. I met Markus sometime after that and...I've been Isimir since."

Erin slowly sat back up, rubbing her face as she cracked her neck, "Those fuckers want me dead as much as the rest of you, if not more so. If they can kill me, for good, then I don't see how anyone else stands a chance. And I will not let anymore kids be put through that shit. When the times comes, not if, but when, I want to see my parents pay for every horrible thing they ever did. I owe everyone else that much." Erin paused again, finally looking over at Markus, the expression on his face was a clear indication that he was still wrapping his head around everything. Erin opened her mouth to say something to him, but Markus silently got up and excused himself and left for one of the other rooms.

She looked back over at Lucian, "...Give him time. He...He didn't know any of that...I'm not upset with how he reacted. He just need to let it all settle...But, for what it's worth? I'm with you both until the very end, and even then, I'll be there. We go down, we go down fighting. Together. I don't care what's at cost, even if it's myself, I'm willing to make that sacrifice. Those kids and everyone else are important, not me. We take down my parents, and stop them, that's all I care about."

Erin’s story was somehow more horrific than he could have ever imagined. He could only imagine the fear and the pain she’d gone through with that. Being tortured by total strangers was bad enough, but it had to be worse when it was your family. When she gestured for her glass to be refilled, he got the bottle and poured her an overly generous shot, knowing that she’d probably need it. He downed his own drink and refilled it as he did so, placing the bottle on the coffee table between them. He glanced at Markus a few times as Erin spoke. He seemed frozen, lost in thought, unable to take it in. Lucian wondered if he should say something or remark on it. But before he could, Markus left, excusing himself. Lucian signed, running a hand through his hair and draining his glass. He nodded as Erin promised she’d be there, no matter what.

“Good,” was all he said, thinking a little. Instinctively, he glanced back towards the direction Markus had left in. “This has to be weird for him. His parents were heroes too... and then here we are, having had people that would rather have destroyed us as parents. Or, well, in my case, foster parents. Some of them were fine with it. Others called an exorcist on me because they thought my abilities were caused by the devil. I ran away before the exorcist actually showed up.” He said, topping up both of their glasses.

“Of course, the fact I used to be able to hear other people’s thoughts didn’t do much in reassuring people that I wasn’t some demon child. I don’t miss being able to hear people calling me a freak or... well, being able to hear exactly what people thought of me. But it was useful at times. Useful to be able to hear exactly what other people were thinking, you know?” He said. “Sure would be useful these days.”

He sipped his drink, staring into space for a few moments. “But I’m glad I don’t have to hear whatever bullshit’s floating around in your head at any given time,” he teased, with a grin. “I mean, I’m screwed up, but you’re just... a crackhead without the crack,” he added, nudging her slightly with the edge of his foot, eager to lighten the mood as the alcohol began to finally kick in. “And god only knows what goes on in Markus’ head.”

Erin bitter smiled as Lucian began to vocalize his thoughts about everything. If she was being honest, she was both surprised, but entirely relieved that Lucian believed her. While she was no liar by any means, her story was far more insane sounding than she was, rarely ever did anyone believe it when she retold it. So, knowing that at least someone believed her story, caused her chest to tighten, but more so from it coming from someone she could trust. However unlikely it was. Erin was able to see what kind of person he was, however different they were, Erin saw a bit of herself in Lucian. They were both severely damaged and hurt people. Two people who had been betrayed and hurt time and time again by others. It was an oddly calming thing. To know she wasn't alone. Sure, she had Markus but, having someone else? It just gave her that extra bit of reassurance that she hadn't entirely lost the plot. Well, any more than she already had.

She looked back at Lucian, pausing for a moment as she let him speak, waiting until he was entirely done. A small, bitter chuckle escaped her lips as Lucian bumped her foot with his. Erin blinked a bit as she looked down, and then back up at him, "I'd like to say that's not true but, ya know...Least it's been a while since I had any. Being sober is weird but, not like it lasts long anyway." she shrugged a bit , "Increased regenerative powers and all." Erin joked.

Her eyes glanced around the room for a moment, biting her lip, "This is oddly the most clear headed I've been...In a long time but, for what it's worth? I'm sorry.." Erin glanced back over at Lucian, About your experiences and everything, I mean. I know we didn't experience the same but, I can only imagine...I'm so sorry..." Erin let out a sigh, before laying her back against the floor again, looking up at the ceiling.

"As for what's going on in my head?" she started, before looking back at Lucian, a large grin forming on her face, "You really don't want to know, trust me. Having another voice that's in your head all the time? Knowing that fragmented parts of your brain, one is a voice of reason, and the other is entirely fucking insane?" Erin said with a chuckle shaking her head. "It's fucking exhausting. I'll tell you that much, right away." Erin let out a sigh once more, after taking a heavy breath in, then letting it out slowly. Closing her eyes for a moment, then opening them once more. "We really should get some sleep...Or at least try to...Tomorrow's...Well, it's gonna be shit, just lemme say that right off the bat..."

Lucian fell asleep quicker than expected, considering how the conversation stayed running through his mind. When he woke up, a few hours earlier than he usually would, his mind was racing, but for an entirely different reason. He was plotting, thinking, working his way through the information they had discovered. When the others woke up, he brought them up to speed.

It was as though a fog had lifted, and everything had suddenly fallen into place. They were working better together now, all seeming to be on the first page. They overhauled their plans, changing things up to work better with Erin being on board now, and with the information they had now. Their initial plans had been that Lucian wouldn’t be attending in an official capacity. But having him onsite in an unofficial capacity or in disguise seemed to be too much of an ordeal or a risk, so they instead decided that he would make a “surprise” appearance, showing up fashionably late once their targets had shown up.

Once the plans were in place, the actual logistics of preparations had to begin. Which meant a considerable amount of work on Luc’s part. He managed to get some materials back to the apartment, including a few premade pieces he could alter and tailor as required. His own was easy to work with, with a specific look in mind. Markus’ wasn’t too bad either, going simple but functional. Erin was a fraction harder to work with. She had a very unique style, and neither of them wanted to push her outside her comfort zone. Now that they’d gotten over their differences, they managed to work together, and Lucian found himself enjoying working with her to figure something out. The look was different, not something he would have initially thought of, but it worked. Their three outfits worked surprisingly well together, and he found himself a tad disappointed that this wasn’t a red carpet event where they could show that off. But there was something much bigger they had to worry about.

The plan was deceptively straightforward. Erin and Markus would get in first and make sure their “guests” were at the VIP reception, and request they leave their phones in a secure location to preserve the privacy of the other guests and to keep the VIP reception under wraps. In reality, this was to stop them from calling backup when things went south. Lucian would make his “big entrance” once they were in position, when it was too late for them to run.

But in the meantime, he was sitting in a car a block or two away from the venue, an earpiece in his ear to wait for the green light, monitoring their targets on his phone. Not being at the venue was making him nervous on so many levels, but he trusted Erin and Markus to have things under control. Or, at least, to keep things moving.

It was safe to say that Erin didn't exactly get much, if any sleep that night. For the first time, in a very long time, her mind was clear. Racing with countless thoughts and anxiety, but clear nonetheless. She laid on her back, staring up at the ceiling of the apartment, simply thinking. Occasionally whispering aloud to herself, to help properly process her thoughts. Never in a thousand years, did she ever expect to be here, out of all places. Not in an apartment with some unlikely, but welcomed company. But here, as in this point in time. A point in time she never thought she'd see. Not that she ever expected to truly die, seeing as that was impossible in her case, but to be at this point, where she'd be working with others to take down her family.

To say Erin would have laughed at someone if they told her, wouldn't have been too far from the truth. She never thought they'd ever get to this point, nevermind able to actually make it happen. It almost felt unreal to her, to be at this point, but also made her feel relieved and almost hopeful. If the three of them could truly pull it off, even if it meant she'd pay the price, which she was willing, then it'd all be worth it. No more kids needed to go through this shit, especially because of her own god damn parents. Just thinking about them caused Erin to slink further into the covers Lucian had given her. Whenever she thought about them, she felt so small and vulnerable. Even if she could come back from beyond, it never stopped being terrifying. Especially when the ones causing the harm, were the ones who were supposed to be looking out for her. She didn't know what was worse, it being strangers, or her own family? Both thoughts made her feel sick.

Eventually, Erin found herself drifting off to sleep, even if it was plagued by the usual and constant nightmares. Her body was able to get some sleep, and that was all that mattered. Thankfully, when she woke up, Markus was already awake in the kitchen, making breakfast for the three of them with what they had to work with. Erin had approached him, and the two had a small conversation that lasted only a few minutes before Lucian made his way from the bedroom. But the fact that she was able to know that Markus wasn't mad, he was just so taken aback and beside himself. That, he honestly had no idea just how bad things were for her. And it ended with Markus promising, that no matter what, he wouldn't let anyone hurt her like that again. She was thankful to hear it, even if part of her doubted it, even for a moment.

The next few days that followed, were something that neither Markus or Erin had expected. They were helping Lucian put together outfits for the three of them, so they'd be able to attend the party they had set in motion. Markus was more reluctant about the outfit making, but eventually he got around the awkwardness and was pleasently surprised when Lucian presented him with a rather simple jacket ensamble. And of course, when it came to Erin's turn well, Markus couldn't have face-palmed more when she jokingly suggested a bullet-proof dress at first. While it would have been inpractical, it would be an Erin move. But eventually they had agreed on a medium length, velvet outlined coat that came down to her ankles, underneath she wore a simple, white long sleeve shirt with a black waistcoat and tie. And of course, with further begging, Erin managed to eventually get Lucian to agree to allow her to complete the outfit with matching boots, and of course, after some modifications to them, Erin had added a few hidden weapon compartments to them. The tip of the shoe would be able to store a retractable blade that could be engaged when activated, a blade that could eject from the back of the heal, as well as an inner lining, that once peeled back would reveal a small knife.

The last part of the outfits, Erin had requested specifically, as a surprise for Markus. She wanted to keep the design simple enough, but also matching in tone to each other. As well them being in their respective favorite colors. For Markus, it was a simple maroon and black combo, and for Erin she had requested a dark blue and black. And of course, once they were completed, she was beyond thankful. Erin hid them until the day arrived for the party, and when it was time to leave, she handed Markus a small box with a maroon colored ribbon. "What's all this? It's not my birthday already, is it?" he teased jokingly. "No, that's not for a few more months. But, this is a gift, of sorts. Just open it, you dork." Erin prodded him in the arm.

Markus chuckled as he opened the box, and was genuinely surprised as a smile overcame his face, "Did...Did you have Luc make me a custom mask?" he questioned, his eyebrows furrowed as he looked up at Erin, who was now wearing one of her own, but with a blue instead of red tone. "Maayybbeee...?" Erin chuckled nervously. Markus grinned and pulled her into a tight hug, "It looks great, Rin. Thank you. Now, let's get going, huh?" he helped the two out the door, and they began to make their way to the venue.

When they arrived to the venue, it was much larger than either one had been expecting, but of course this was all done and planned by Lucian. And he was known for being one to go big, or go home. So, neither one was entirely too shocked. They both made it inside, and began to make their stations towards and around the VIP sections. Markus would cover the ground floor, while Erin kept to the upper level with the bar and banquet hall. One thing that was for certain, having Lucian built in comms into the masks, would help communication between the three, but also make things a little nerve wracking if things went wrong. But they were keeping their attitudes as positive as they could.

It was roughly an hour into the party when Markus had given the signal for Lucian to begin to make his entrance to the party, he walked around the large staircase that led to the upstairs, managing to make quick eye contact with Erin. Confirming she was aware of them moving onto the second stage of their plans. Erin was casually leaning over the banister of the staircase, observing both levels, when she felt a hand on her waist as someone came up beside her, "Can I help you?" she questioned, eyebrows furrowed for a moment. The man was maybe in his mid to late thirties, it was next to impossible to tell due to the mask he was wearing. This was one of the downsides of a masqerade party. Everyone was wearing masks. But, something about this man in particular, seemed familiar to her. She just didn't know why. The man gave her a gentle smile as he spoke, "It's a wonderful party. Well done." he said, clasping Erin's right hand tightly, before walking away before Erin could respond. She blinked as she felt something in her hand, not bothering to look down at the object, but she knew what it was without having to.

Erin took a deep breath, swallowing hard as a lump formed in her through, quickly pocketing the object that had been placed in her hand. She made her way over to the bar, and ordered a drink, resting her back against the counter as the bartender handed her a glass. She kept her eyes surveying the room, anxiously tapping her right foot to the beat of the music that played overhead. She just hoped Lucian would be here soon, and be able to cause enough of a distraction for her to be able to step outside for some fresh air, she was feeling even more nervous and sick now, and she was begining to question whether or not this was a good idea after all...

The minute Markus gave the signal, Luc exhaled heavily and slid his phone into his waistcoat pocket, before making the short walk to the venue, his mask in hand. As he’d hoped, there was still a small crowd gathered outside the venue. Enough for his name to start to be called as he stopped for a few photos. Perfect. As he entered the venue, he pulled on his mask and made his way towards the VIP section. People recognised him here, even with the mask. Which was exactly what they’d been hoping for. He stopped for photos along the way, but all the way, still made his way towards their targets. “Visual on our targets. Ground floor bar. Meet me in the side room,” he said, picking up a glass and taking a sip from it to cover his speech. Fixing his best, biggest smile on his face, he approached the small group that clustered together at one end of the bar. He recognised them instantly, but they apparently hadn’t noticed him yet. Even better.

“Gentlemen, it’s a pleasure to see you here. Thank you so much for coming,” he called as he reached them. One of them made a movement, and Lucian rested a hand on his shoulder, an apparently friendly gesture that gave a warning. “You don’t want to try that. This is a charity event, after all. How would it look if you pulled a gun on the beloved host? Same goes for any backup you might call,” he said, keeping his tone light and conversational, the smile still fixed on his face, but not meeting his eyes. “Shall we move this conversation to a side room, gentlemen?” He asked. The gentlemen agreed, none of them smiling.

They stepped into a small hallway. It was narrow and only went in a single direction, with no twists or turns. Lucian could see the men scanning it. “Go ahead. Try running. You won’t get very far.” He said, his tone dropping to a warning for the first time. He could see them weighing up the decision, but once again, they apparently decided it wasn’t worth the risk. When Lucian reached the room, he held the door open for them and allowed them to filter in.

The room had been deceptively set up as a small reception room to cover themselves, but the men knew they weren’t there for canapés and polite conversation. Lucian held out his hand. “Your phones. And you will be searched by one of my colleagues for any communication devices or bugs, so I’d recommend handing them over now to save her having to search you. You might have heard of her. Goes by the name Isimir?” He said, raising an eyebrow and hoping Erin’s reputation was notorious enough to work. It appeared to be, as one of them plucked a button from his coat. Lucian crushed it underfoot without looking. He left their phones on a small side table, and positioned himself between them and the men.

“So. Gentlemen. I’m sure you know why you’re here, correct?”
They shook their heads, almost in unison. Lucian laughed, glancing at Markus and Erin and raising his eyebrows. “Interesting. Well, we were wondering if you happened to know anything about the Aegis Corporation? Or some missing homeless teenagers?” He asked, leaning against one of the tables they had set up. The men went pale. One of them bolted to his feet and made a run for the door.
“Oh, no you don’t.” Lucian said, lifting him into the air using his powers and throwing him back across the room. “No, none of you are leaving here until we’ve gotten some answers. If you tell us nicely, we’ll let you go, and you can go back out and enjoy the party. Of course, with the caveat that if the arrangements are changed, or if anyone finds out you told us, we will find you and kill you. There’s the hard way as well, of course, but we don’t need that, do we?” Lucian asked, raising an eyebrow.

Erin had found time ticking by far too slowly for her liking. All she wanted, was to get what they were looking for, and get out of there. Knowing who had been behind all of the horrible events going on, made her beyond angry and sick to her stomach. The only thing that was helping to stave off the ever growing anxiety, was the alcohol But, due to her increased regeneration, it didn't matter how much she drank. The taste alone was more than enough to help with the nerves. She had almost chocked on her drink when she heard Lucian's voice crackle from the hidden comms. Taking a deep breath, she had finished off her drink, placed the glass back on the counter and excused herself. keeping the real reason for why she left to herself. Erin, less than gracefully made her way down the stairs and joined up with Markus, the two of them taking a quick detour to the room they would be going to, to hopefully lose any prying eyes that may have been following their every move.

Once they were sure no one was stalking them, they made their way to the room, being ready for any moment that Lucian walked through the other door with their targets in tow. Thankfully, it was only another minute or so before a few men entered the room, Lucian leading them. Erin glanced at Markus, who was standing a few feet away from her. They were both blocking the other exits, and were easily on guard and offense if any of the men even tried anything. Markus traded a few glances with the others, hoping to gauge their view on things.

Erin simply exchanged a knowing look with Markus, before turning her attention back onto the men that came in with Lucian. A small grin appeared on her face when Lucian had made a small mention of her, raising her hand and gave the men a sarcastic wave of her hand. Narrowing her eyes at one of the men in the middle, even with the mask her expressions were evident enough. Watching as the man removed something from his jacket.

Patiently, Erin listened as Lucian began to properly interrogate the men. Her eyes narrowing on the same one in the middle as his face went pale and made a run for it. Grinning as Lucian easily pulled him back and with force. Cracking her knuckles, she walked passed Markus who simply raised an eyebrow at her. "You tell us everything that you know about them, and we won't kill you. That I can be sure of. But if you lie, even a single time, I will know. And then I will kill you personally. One by one until you've all well...spilled your guts, so to say. So, what will it be?" the features on her face growing cold as she pulled out a knife, trailing it across the man's face before pinning it to his stomach.

"I'm not gonna tell you anythi-" Erin forced the knife forward, breaking skin. "Don't make this harder than it has to be...Or there will be a mess, and I really don't wanna have to clean it up." she further pushed the blade in another centimeter. A pained groan escaping the man. "Isimir, stop. If they don't know anything, then they don't-" slowly she stood back up, but not before bringing her elbow down into the man's face, a hard crack sounded on impact. "Shadowfaux...Trust me. I know when they're bullshitting." Erin turned back to the man.

"You have about thirty five seconds to tell me when you know, or..." Erin side eyed one of the other men. "Mr. Mickaelson here, won't make it back home in time. And you really don't wanna cause his own family any trouble, do you, Mr. Dumont?" she questioned, peering down at the man in the chair. His eyes widened as he tried to stop his nose from bleeding, "How....How do you know-" Erin grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, "Who else do you think their first experiment was? You were there anyway. So...I really would advise you, to speak now. Or I'll slaughter every single one of you in this room and then your families will have to deal with the aftermath of you failing the uh..Top Dogs In Charge, right? And you know how that'll end for you." her tone was flat and cold, not the usual lively tone Erin usually carried.

The man's hand trembled for a moment, "Okay....Okay...There...There's a large factory on the Southside of Scarriden. The old Power Plant? Aegis...They keep the kids there. Underground. But it's all just grunts. The ones in charge are rarely ever there-" Erin pulled the man closer, bringing both of their heads together, and let go as the body fell to the floor. Turning her attention to the other men, "Yeah I've heard enough, you're not going anywhere-" Erin lurched forwards, grabbing one of the men by the arm and shoulder, and dragged him alongside the wall before spinning him around and smashed her head into his. Knowing full well that Markus and Lucian could easily dispatch the others in no time.

The man that Erin had grabbed tried to pull himself away, but wasn't able to as Erin grabbed him by the ankle and pulled him back, slamming him up against the wall. Sitting with his back pressed against it as he raised both of his hands, surrendering. A low chuckle came from Erin as she crouched down infront of him, removing the mask, revealing his face. Erin's eyebrows furrowed at him, more so out of dissapointment than anything else. She knew the man upstairs had seemed familiar, she just didn't know why until she properly saw his face staring back up at her's. "What do you wanna do with this one, Mal? Cuz I sure as hell am not letting him go.."

Markus had easily taken out one of the men by the time that Erin had subdued one of the others, and Lucian was easily able to do the same. Giving her a curious look, "Why? What do you need him for?" he questioned. There was a brief pause for a moment, before Erin turned to look at both of them, "I need him alive...Cuz he's my brother." Erin finally admitted, looking back at the man, "Half brother anyway...And he's going to let us know where oh sweet Mommy and Daddy Dearests are..."

Lucian’s expression didn’t as much as flicker when Erin began making her threats, although internally, he wasn’t sure whether or not to be impressed or concerned. Seeing how she interrogated her target only deepened that dilemma, but he managed to keep his expression neutral, not wanting to show a flicker of weakness. He hadn’t seen this side of Erin before, and he found himself making a mental note that she could possibly be even more of a loose cannon than he’d first expected. He didn’t outwardly react at any point, but he was ready to step in, ready to react.

As the man finally gave away the information, Lucian finally reacted, his face breaking out into a smug smile. That information was vital. As Erin cracked the two men’s head’s together, Lucian knew what to do without anyone having to say a word. The man nearest him collided with the wall with a flick of Lucian’s hand, and didn’t move as he hit the floor. He raised an eyebrow as he saw Erin had left one of them conscious, his back pressed to the wall with his hands raised in a surrender. As Erin asked what he wanted to do with him, Lucian made his way over to the man, studying his face for a second. At the revelation that the man was Erin’s half-brother, Luc wasn’t quite sure how to react. But if the man knew information, then he was valuable. Worth keeping around.

“We’re more or less out of time,” Luc said, straightening up. “I’m going to be missed before too much longer. I’ve got a car parked just down the block, if you take the back exit and go through the back gates, it should just be there. The trunk should be roomy enough for him. Take these as well,” Lucian said, going over to the pile of phones. He pulled them apart, taking out the SIM cards and batteries, tossing them into a bag and handing them to Markus. “Leave them in the car as well. Then we,” he said, the charm and the persona of the host he was supposed to be playing turning back on like a light switch, “Are gonna go have ourselves some fun.” He said, wrapping an arm around each of their shoulders as they left the room. “Let me know when you’re back into the party,” he said, before turning and disappearing into the crowd once again.

Erin waited and listened as Lucian explained the gameplan. "My god damn pleasure." Erin said, quickly bringing her arm down onto the man's temple, rendering him unconcious. She gave Lucian and Markus a small nod as she watched Lucian hand off the bag. "You piece of shit.." she mumbled softly, looking at her brother on the floor. How they ever got here, she didn't know. To think that one day, they had been so close and now...Now she barely even recognized him. He was a shadow of his former self, and knowing that their own parents had him involved on the other side of affairs, while not surprising, was still a disapointment. She wished things were different, she really did.

Markus shot Erin a quick, You okay look, that she responded with a shrug of her shoulders. She just wanted this done and over with. All of it. Turning back to Lucian as he began to make his way out, she gave him a small nod of her head, "Will make it quick. Gonna need to keep Ezekiel around for a while longer anyway." Erin turned back around, crouching down as she picked Ezekiel up and tossed him over his shoulder, "Yeah you're still a fatass-" she groaned as she began to make her way to the backdoor. Markus couldn't help but snort, "So what's his deal anyway?" he asked in reference to Ezekiel.

Erin sighed as she looked down, before looking at Markus as the two walked, "Not much to say, other than that he's mom and dad's favorite. He didn't end up like me, brainwashed him into their same bullshit views and...Well, he's doing the grunt work now." she said with a small roll of her eyes. Markus slowly nodded, feeling a hit of regret washing over him after he asked that question. "Think you'll be okay?" he questioned. Erin gave another shrug as they finally neared the car, "Been through worse than family affairs like this. I'll be fine. Don't worry about it so much." the trunk of the car popped open, and Erin dumped Ezekiel into the back of the car, not caring how he was laid down, just that he fit. Markus grimaced a bit at first, but had to admire her handy work of managing to put an unconcious body into a drunk of a car.

The two of them looked at each other after Markus put the bag of phones under the front seat of the car and walked back around, "Now, let's go enjoy this party, huh?" he said with a grin, wrapping his arm around Erin's shoulder as they walked back to the building, "Absofuckinglutely." she grinned back. The both of them made their way back into the building, and all but casually and easily walked their way back to the main room of the party. Erin and Markus fixed the lapels of their blazers in unision, giving each other a small wink before they waltz their way over to Lucian by the bar. "To us, I presume." Markus said with a grin, retrieving a shot from the barkeep that he held up in toast to the others. Erin was handed her own and she lifted it up as well, "To the best boys I know. Now, let's enjoy this shit." she grinned, and after a moment the three down their shots in perfect sync. Now, time to forget all the bullshit. Least for a little while. They deserved it after all.

For once, things had gone right for them. They'd gotten the information they'd needed, and they could act on it almost right away. Nobody did anything. No windows were smashed in, no cops showed up. Lucian, Markus, and Erin stumbled out of the venue at 2AM when the event was over and they'd even helped clean things up. When they'd gone home, they'd been so hyped up that they'd hatched their plan right there and then, despite the copious amounts of alcohol in their systems. None of them had actually made it to bed, instead falling asleep sprawled across the floor in various positions.

When they'd woken up and got their respective hangover cures, they revisited their plan and were somewhat shocked to find that, with only a handful of sober minded changes, it still held up as a pretty solid plan. They all agreed that they needed to act fast before Aegis got a chance to move them; and so they decided to act that night. There was no time to waste, and they knew if they didn't act, they'd all be in trouble. So they got changed, got a few extra strong coffees, and began taking steps to prepare for the fight. They poured over the plans they had, repeating their plans and their escape plans and their backup plans over and over again until it was the only thing echoing in their heads and they'd probably still act on them in their sleep.

Despite their late night, when they made their way towards the factory, they were all wide awake and on their guard. Lucian's heart was in his mouth. If things had gone smoothly last night, then he knew that it was unlikely they'd have the same luck today. But his trust in Erin and Markus was at an all-time high, and he knew that they were all very much on the same page. He wasn't sure that he believed the intel about it being all low level grunts. He was expecting a much bigger fight, and that's what they'd come prepared for. They knew in their heads they were preparing for the worst; but none of them would admit that out loud.

The following morning after that party, had come all too fast. Much to fast if Erin was being honest with herself. The hangover she woke up with was immense, and she could only assume the same with the other two, with how shitty they looked. Markus looked back at Erin and groaned as he got to his feet, already tending to his duties of preparing breakfast and coffee to help with the headaches. The three poured over and revised their plans as they finished breakfast, and after agreeing with what they had was solid enough, they began to prepare.

As time came closer to them leaving, Erin finished up her last minute preperations. Deep down, there were parts of her that didn't want to do this. They were still family, but by the end of the day, they would rather see her dead, than change their ways. And that was what kept coming back to her. Markus looked at Lucian, knowing full well that Erin must have been stalling in the bathroom. She went in and never came out. He walked up to the door and knocked, "Alright, c'mon. Time to go." there was a brief pause, "...Few more minutes." she replied back. Markus groaned and knocked again, "Just let me in.." he said said softly. Silence, and then finally a soft click as the door unlocked.

Markus stepped into the bathroom, closing the door behind him. Erin was facing the mirror, head held low. Markus slowly approached her and placed a hand on her shoulder, "It'll be fine, we got this." he said reassuringly. Erin slowly looked up at him in the mirror, "And what if it's not? Markus...These aren't your normal bad guys. This isn't going to be some walk in the park, you realize that, right? If they wanted me dead, their own daughter? I-" she was caught off as Markus pulled her into a hug. Wrapping his arms around her, he spoke softly. "And they'll have to try even harder, getting passed me and Lucian to get to you. You're not alone in this, okay? You have to remember that." Markus' hug tightened slightly as he could feel Erin shaking. He rubbed her back for a moment before finally stepping back.

Erin looked up at him and slowly nodded, turning to look back at herself in the mirror. Erin took a deep breath, and pressed the basic black mask to her face, it felt useless doing this, as they'd know who it was right away but, it'd do for now. Turning to look at Markus, she gave him a nod, and they both left, joining up with Lucian they all finally left and made their way to the power-plant factory that lied on the outskirts of the town.

As they approached the ever large building, Erin guided them over to an area that was hidden from any prying eyes. She took a moment to think, before looking at them both, "I just want you two to know...That no matter what happens in there. When shit goes down, not if, but when...I want you to get them out of there, and don't look back." Erin barely even paused as she could tell Markus was going to interject, raising her hand, "I know the inside of that place...Back then, I didn't know what it was. But...I used to be taken there. Not for testing, it was before my own powers came to light. It was like...some sick set-up for me to become the next apprentince. To work with them." she sighed, rubbing her face for a moment as she spoke.

"There's four floors in total, only the last underground level will be where the kids are being held. Picture it like fucked up underground science lab. Has security measures and everything. It's hard to break into, but not impossible. We'll have to break our way through and down. If we don't clean sweep that place...We'll be over run trying to get those kids out. And it'll be for nothing so...We each take a main floor, then meet at the final one and get out..." Erin looked at them both.

Markus looked between Erin and Lucian, "Alright...We go in, clear out each floor, meet up, and get the hell out of there. How hard can it be?" he said with a forced chuckle. Erin rolled her eyes in response. They both looked at Lucian if he had anything else to add before they finally began to make their way in. Now was all or nothing.

If the atmosphere among the three of them wasn’t already tense, Erin’s warning served to heighten the tension. It was an even more stark warning coming from her. None of her quirky, hyperactive demeanour was there. She was deathly serious, and it was almost unnerving. He knew she wasn’t messing around or exaggerating, and so, he took her warning strictly to heart. The instructions were clear, the same as the plan that they had agreed back in the apartment. They took a moment to agree what floors they’d take, before heading in. He managed a grin to match Markus’ forced chuckle, but it didn’t last as they made their way into the building and to their respective floors.

Usually, he never minded working alone. In fact, until relatively recently, that was the only way he had ever worked. Working with others should have been a stranger experience to him. But as he made his way onto his floor, he suddenly wished that he had someone by his side. Hell, he wished that they’d agreed to stick together. He had a feeling that something was going to go wrong. He didn’t know if that was a result of Erin’s warning outside, or if it was the paranoia of being alone, but he couldn’t shake the nagging feeling at the back of his head that they needed to be especially careful to avoid disaster.

It didn’t take long for Luc to encounter some staff. Security, as expected. He had them thrown across the floor before they even knew what happened to them, their guns flying out of their hands and into Lucian’s outstretched hands. The butt of the gun to the temple took out both of them, and they sank to the floor like a sack of stones. He tucked the guns into his pockets, and stole a bulletproof vest from one of them, pulling it on. And then he continued his search of the floor, with both a knife and a gun within reach.

The silence was definitely getting to him. He’d done this so many times now that his body automatically defaulted to stealth. His own footsteps barely made a sound on the ground, his breathing was quiet, and that meant that the silence of the floor wasn’t disrupted. It allowed him to hear when people were approaching from a significant distance away, but having that much notice and having to wait that long for them to reach you was sometimes worse than them just jumping out on you.

The next set of guards put up a little bit more of a fight. They didn’t hang around, drawing their guns and firing almost immediately. But as he threw up a force field around himself, the bullets ricocheted off of it, before turning and ploughing into the foreheads of the people who had released those bullets only moments ago. He stepped over them and kept going.

The sound of the gunshots seemed to be echoing around the walls, or maybe just his head. Things were just too quiet. The slightest little sound had him reaching for a weapon and pulling a forcefield up around himself, freezing in readiness for attack; but half of the time, it was just one of those nothing sounds that happened in too-quiet buildings. He’d release a silent breath, and keep moving. Forward, forward, use the silence to your advantage, and don’t make a sound.

Some of the guards seemed to be expecting a fight, and some of them even managed to put up a fight. There was a squadron of armoured guards who approached him, guns drawn. Knowing that weapons, even their own weapons would be useless against them, instead used the guards themselves as weapons, throwing one against another with enough force to break their necks, their heavy armour and helmets only acting to aid in that. Some of those guards tried to run, but they were dispatched in the same way.

He couldn’t say this was an easy job. It wasn’t easy by a long shot. Some of the guards he’d taken down had managed to get punches and kicks in at Luc, and one of them had even managed to get a gunshot in at him in a half second where his force field was down. While the kevlar vest stopped it from doing any real damage, it still hurt, and he knew he was bound to have some nasty bruising. But something still felt… off. It was more than just the silence now, he swore that much. Something was weird, and he didn’t like it.

Another sweep of the floor confirmed that he’d taken care of all of the staff. It felt a little odd, just leaving all of the bodies in various states of consciousness, some left alive but not a threat, some dead, scattered around the place, but he didn’t need to cover his tracks here, or hide what had happened. So, after one more final sweep, making sure that they were all dealt with, he made his way down to the basement, hoping that the others had dealt with their lot easily enough.

The moment that the three had broken away after they stepped into the building and went their separate ways to their designated floors, the usual smile that Erin wore on her face entirely faded away. Leaving a blank expression on her face afterwards. The air around her was silent, eerily so. If it wasn’t for the sound of her own breathing and the beating of her heart in her chest that filled her ears, Erin could have heard a pin drop otherwise. After she took a moment to shake her head and shove off some last moment nerves, Erin began to walk down one of the corridors of the third floor.

Her footsteps were slow and methodical, but held a sense of purpose. She knew where she was going. Even though it had been years since she last stepped foot in this building, she remembered everything about it. From the exact layout, how many rooms, and where the majority of people would be. At least that was years ago. Now, now was a different story entirely.

The longer she walked, the more Erin realized she was walking to the rhythm of her heartbeat. Which, she wasn’t sure was making herself any less anxious, yet here she was. However though, it hadn’t taken her very long to run into the first group of people. Less than a minute. They stopped what they were doing to only look up, and see a figure standing in the doorway. The first figure dressed in a white lab-cloak put some file on the table in front of them, slowly raising a hand to allow themself to speak, only to watch as the figure in the doorway slowly unsheathed two of the short katana’s from their back. Keeping their eyes locked of them.

The four scientists took a step back, in an attempt to make distance between them and the figure, but it use futile. It took barely even thirty seconds to dispatch of the four. Puddles of darkened crimson soon covered the floor, as blood splatters and gore covered the walls wherever the bodies fell. Some entirely slumped over onto the floor, while one had been flipped over one of the desks, and was left strewn about it limply. The last however, had been impaled onto the wall by one of the katana’s Erin had used. Nothing could be heard other than heavy, labored breathing before she slowly pulled the weapon to her, removing it from the body as it fell to the floor. Erin silently walked over the fresh corps, and after taking a moment to scan over the room, she pulled out a zippo lighter from her pocket; casting a glance around the room before she tossed it and onto the desk with papers. Not even bothering to watch it catch light.

Erin not too long after exited the room, and turned down the hallway, kicking in doors as she made her way towards the door at the end of the long hallway. Only to see three more figures step out at the other end. Cutting her off. Erin let out a tired sigh as she looked at the guards.

”Not here to play, are ya?” she spoke with a low, deep voice. But it held a somewhat playful tone. The guard in the middle raised an eyebrow, before he raised a gun in his hand to take aim at her. Erin grinned as she outstretched both of her arms on either side of her, ”Take your best shot-” the sound of a gun rang out through the otherwise silent room. A smug grin formed on Erin’s face after she glanced down to see a bullet now lodged in her chest. ”My turn-” she hummed softly. In only a few strides, Erin managed to make her way down the hallway, retrieving a knife from the open pocket along the left-side of her leg. In a few swift motions, Erin unsheathed the blade and just as quickly took a few upper slashes into the guard on her left. Bringing him down into the floor as she did so. Having used her weight and momentum to take him down.

The other two guards had taken aim, but using her placement against them, she swung her right leg, and caught one of them by surprise and pulled him down as well. Just in time to use his upper torso as a human shield as the third took aim with three blind shots. Using the third guard’s mistake to her advantage, Erin got back to her feet just in time as he reloaded his gun, bringing her fist into his chin as she went for an upper-cut. Spinning around on her heel, Erin caught the second hand’s hand in her’s. Looking down as she saw she had caught the guard’s knife by the blade, ”Oh, shiny-” Erin joked, as she tightened her grip and only pulled the guard forwards in her direction. As he lurched forwards, she used the speed and momentum of his weight, side stepped, and pushed him, but not before grabbing him by the arm and shoulder. Hearing a heavy crunch as his shoulder was dislocated before letting him fall to the ground.

Taking a moment to catch her breath, Erin glanced about the room, seeing how the three of them were slowly getting to their feet, even the one she had managed to get a few slices and stabs against. ”Looks like you got some fight left if you three, huh?” she bellowed. The larger guard, who was about a full head and shoulders taller than her craned his neck, “You’re...You’re the kid, aren’t you?” he asked with a raised eyebrow. Erin let out a scoff, before her glared hardened. ”Something like that.” she swiftly replied, ”But how about you come and find out?” she egged them on as she gestured for them to go for another round.

The much larger guard took a step forward before pulling out another hand-gun, aiming both at her. ”Oh two? Now that’s cute-” four shots rang out. Before two more, and another three followed before silence fell about the room again. The three guards looked on in horror as Erin stood, mostly unfazed as multiple wounds now littered her body. Shaking her shoulders, as four bullets were forced out of her body, clattering to the floor as the wounds were just as quickly healed as they were inflicted. ”My turn.” she said in a low voice, before raising her right hand that held a hand gun. Erin took aim and fired, the lights above flickered before entirely going dark. Casting the entire room in darkness before the emergency generators kicked in, lighting the room in a hellish-red glow.

Erin took a step forwards, and then another before she dropped the hand-gun and unsheathed both of her own weapons once again. What happened next was a flurry of consecutive motions, that left only one figure standing. By the figures feet were the remains of two figures. Both bisected in the midsection. Gore and a puddle of blood spilled across the floor and walls. Erin slowly glanced down at the bodies, a blank expression was on her face as she looked up to meet the eyes of the third figure. Who was pinned against the wall. Katana having since been lodged into his side. Keeping him pinned to the wall.

”Please….” the guard whimpered out, trying to remove the blade. Erin grinned as she took a step forward, only further pushing it in, a pained cry escaping the man. Her glare remained as cold as ever. ”Why should I, when I ever asked and was met with silence? More pain? By you people??” her glare remained, the man slowly looked up to meet her eyes. ”I...I have a family. A kid...A daughter, I-” Erin tightened her grip against the blade of the weapon, lowering her head to meet the man’s eyes with her own, ”-So do I.” before she quickly retrieved her other katana and made one clean slash across his neck, looking away as she heard something hit the floor. Silently, Erin cleaned off both of the weapons on her pants, before sheathing them on her back. Taking a moment to look around at the massacre that she left.

Without another word, Erin took one last look before making her way into the room after kicking the door nearly off its hinges, taking a look inside to see nothing was in the room. Knowing she cleared the entire floor, Erin began to make her way down to the lower floors, knowing the others would more than likely be done by this point. Only stopping before she saw the other two near one of the lifts. Erin looked down as she placed her hand onto her side, grimacing for a moment before looking down at her hand. Blood, she noted. Why wasn’t she-, Erin shook her head, before continuing on. She had just a little longer to go, she’d be fine…

The warning they had been given by Erin, hadn't done anything to lessen the already palpable tension they were all feeling. If anything, it only made Markus feel even worse. Somehow. But, he knew that if Erin out of all people was being this serious, he needed to take it for all its worth. And he did. If there was anyone he trusted more, especially if lives were on the line, it was her. For all the sporadic and chaotic energy she had, Markus knew she meant well. Especially when it came down to others. Markus was able to swallow the lump that had formed in his throat, gave the others a nod and made his way into the building as well.

As soon as he was alone, Markus wanted to run back to the others and stick together. Something about all of this just didn't sit right with him. It all felt off, and he couldn't explain it. But they were in too deep now, and they couldn't stop now. They didn't come this far to only come this far, and he'd be damned if they gave up now. Mustering together whatever sense of bravery he could, Markus pushed on and made his way through the designated rooms he was assigned to. He just hoped the others had just as much luck and could get it all done as fast as they could, but he knew if they rushed things, mistakes would be more likely happen. And that was something he wasn't going to allow.

Much to Markus' surprise, he hadn't run into many guards, which on one hand was a relief, but on the other hand, it didn't help but cause him to grow more anxious. No way this place is this empty...Right?, he couldn't help but think to himself. Markus had cleared out three of the five rooms, seeing as how they had been entirely empty. Which, he thought was overly odd. There were only rooms that he assumed were for information holding than anything else. The countless filing cabinets and shelving were evident enough. If he had to admit, he was a bit curious, and deciding to take a moment, Markus thumbed through a few files at complete random. There wasn't much that he found than what he expected. Lists of names, adresses, ages, powers, weaknesses, etc. Everything he knew they'd have on file. It was only the last file that had him pause for a moment.

Markus' eyebrows furrowed together as he scanned over the file in hand. It seemed to be a rather old file, that had been filled out as time went on. Newer additions added to it the longer he read it. He nearly chose to move on before something caught his eye. A small pit forming in his stomach as he read one of the last lines on the paper, "A child had been created through mostly forceful and scientific means. Ensuing tests would follow through as we search for answers." is what the file read. His throat grew dry, and his chest began to ache as he re-read the line over and over again. He hoped he wasn't right, but if this Aegis Corporation was as bad as Erin made out well, then he was probably correct.

Giving the paper one more look over, he quickly shoved it into the pocket of his coat, before turning to leave. Stopping as there were two guards standing in the doorway. Guns pointed at him. Markus gave a small, silent smile, his eyes stayed on them before quickly dispatching them as shadows appeared out of nowhere, and incapacitated both within seconds. Markus made his way out of the room and back into the hallway, taking a moment to peer into the other room he hadn't checked yet. He only felt his stomach drop as his eyes scanned the room. Security Room, they were being watched this whole time..Which only meant- He needed to get back to the other two as soon as he could. Markus took off down the hallway like a bat out of hell. He needed to get to the others before it was too late...

Luc was the first to reach the basement. And he didn't like that. Waiting meant that he was alone. Alone meant that he was far more vulnerable; and it also meant that he had time to thing and to worry. The plan was for them to stay going, no matter what. Luc didn't know how long he should wait, but eventually, the silence and the sheer lack of people got to him. He probably hadn't waited long enough, but he physically couldn't wait any longer. He pulled out one of his knives and stuck it into the wall, a sign that he had been there and was still in the area, before opening the door as quietly as he could, and beginning to creep through the deserted halls.

As he walked, he kept close to the walls and to the shadows, knowing that there was a strong chance that he was walking into trouble. He checked the first door he found, and was relieved to find it open. The room was in almost-darkness, lit only by the light of several computer monitors. It was too small for anyone to be lurking in the shadows, so he sank into the computer chair and began to study the computer screens. His stomach dropped as he realised what he was seeing, to the point it left him feeling nauseous.

They were holding people in what looked like cells. No, not people. Kids. Teenagers. Looking at every single one of them was like looking at his teenage self. They were all a little too thin, scruffy, unkempt. They were kids from the streets or from homes where they wouldn’t be missed. Even through the screen, he could see the too-familiar emptiness in those eyes. He finally managed to look away from the cameras, and realised that they weren’t just being watched. There were documents open on the screen. It just referred to numbers, numbers that seemed to correspond to a person. But each entry spoke about the kid like they were nothing more than an object, or at best, a lab animal. Anger surged through Lucian. His first reaction was just to smash the whole computer. But he caught himself, taking a deep breath. And instead, he began to type, corrupting the files beyond recovery. He scanned through the files, saving anything that looked promising onto a USB stick. He’d hoped that he might find plans of the floor or just something that might give some idea of where they were keeping the kids, but it seemed they were smart enough to store them somewhere else.

When he was sure that he’d gotten everything that he could, he left the room again. He was moving with a new purpose now. He’d forgotten that he should probably be keeping an eye and an ear out for the others. The only thing on his mind was getting these kids free. He tried door after door, finding dead end after dead end, and a disturbing lack of security.

He was beginning to wonder if they were being held in a different facility altogether when he opened a door, and immediately received a torrent of abuse. The abuse abruptly cut off, and the occupant of the room and Lucian stared at each other. It was a teenage girl, one of the ones Lucian had seen on the screen. Her red hair was loose and messy, but there was a defiance and an anger in her that he hadn’t been able to see over the camera.

“You’re not a guard,” she said.
“I’m not,” he said, smiling a little. “I’m Maelstrom. I’m here to help. What’s your name?”
“... Charlie,” she said. “How do I know this isn’t a trick?” She asked. Lucian’s half smile became a full blown smirk at that comment.
“You’re a smart kid,” he said. He tossed one of his knives up in the air, then held it there with his powers. “I’m like you,” he said, snatching it from the air again. He could see some of the tension easing out of her shoulders at his demonstration. To further prove his point, he reached out, and the shackles on her feet and ankles broke. She looked down at her hands, before getting to her feet.
“I’ve heard of you,” she said, glancing away for a second. “I used to think the villains were the bad guys,” she said. “Then… I learned you guys aren’t the worst evil out there.” He sighed.
“Yeah. I used to also think we were the bad guys but… somebody had to outdo us,” he said with a shrug. He stepped aside to let her out first. “Are there others here?” He asked.
“I think so,” she said. “I think I’ve seen others but… they keep us separate.” He nodded.
“Okay. I’m going to go look for the others. Go straight back down that way, keep going. If you see a man with short, dark hair or a woman with long dark hair who also don’t look like guards, tell them that I’m looking for the others and send them back down here. But mostly, just get the hell out, okay?” He ordered. She looked a little bewildered, but nodded, breaking into a run as she went down the hall. Lucian turned and continued down into the hall, the relief of having helped at least one person keeping him going.
