My Name is: Aziel Nuroy

I am the: Omega

I am age: 19

My mate is/I hope my Mate is: Yet to be decided

Personality

Image

Personality:
Aziel has a laid back attitude to most things in his life; he comes across as serious and uncaring however he is incredibly smart his mind working with logic more than feeling making him well known for his incredible skill of puzzle solving.
He also always ends up taking the initiative for problems. Including dealing with others problems especially that of his pack members since he can be over protective of them, however, he has never had the intention to lead nor the ambition too. He is far too laid back and can often get into trouble; this is because recently he has developed a rebellious attitude. He got fed up of people coming to him to solve everything and felt used most of the time, so at a young age, 13, he decided he couldn’t take it anymore and grew secluded to himself.
He has a rough manner to people now and is considered rude most of the time trusting no-one not even his pack though he still stays with them not wanting to go rogue as he feels it requires too much effort. He’s a bit of a bad boy now, he smokes and the moment he turned 18 he began to drink alcohol enjoying the slight buzz it gave, though getting drunk is difficult with a werewolves metabolism. He disobeys orders most of the time doing what he prefers.
He likes things done the right way or not at all, if someone messes up he tends to have a rough temper as he can be quite hot headed. Getting him angry can be quite easy even if it means someone fell over since he thinks its stupid; however that doesn’t mean he wouldn't help the person up while muttering annoyance, really he hates seeing other people hurt especially those he grows a slight affection for. For those few he can be overly protective, jealous and shockingly kind even if it is awkwardly.
When his temper does go out of control though he can be rash with objects throwing them with little patience and even lacing deep threats to others, it gets worse if anyone threatens to hurt his pack since his anger can be induced with protectiveness. When this happens he can become quite sarcastic.

Likes: Puzzles, Sleeping in the sun, Gardening, Dark chocolate, Cigarettes, Alcohol, Snow falling, Sunsets.

Dislikes: Being told what to do, Being taken advantage of, Spicy food, Bugs(hates them), Sweet food.

How you feel about the pack:

He doesn’t know much about them anymore, he lived with the pack until he was 13, something happened one day and he snapped at how his kindness of solving things for people was being abused. He had also recently lost his parents so felt like he didn’t belong, he wanted to explore who he was and what he wanted. So, he got permission from the alpha to travel with a guardian leaving the pack for five years. However, since he has recently turned 19 he has returned to the pack, and finds himself entering a house though he doesn’t care for it much. He believes he wont be able to find a mate, no woman has ever struck him enough and none have managed to get through his walls.

"You know, I did buy you a present, but now I am not going to give it to you." James stuck his tongue out at ray. She smiled and stuck her tongue out in return before begging, "Awwww, come on James! I promise not to break into you're room and set up a trap! Can I pretty pleasehave my present I'm really sorry!" Ray did her best to look innocent as she pouted her lips and clasped her hands in a begging position.

However, as soon as James burned the potatoes her innocent facade disappeared and she erupted into a fit of giggles, "Nice one James." remembering that she was trying to wheedle her present out of him Ray tried to stop her giggles. After a few seconds she gave up and continued to chuckle.

It was at that moment that Gavin walked in, "'Mornin', guys." Ray smiled, "Good morning Gavin!"

"So, Ray, how's that lock pick treating you?" Ray smiled and gave Gavin a thumbs up, "Great, thanks again by the way." The doorbell rang and Gavin moved off to get it. Ray munched on her food for a few seconds, listening closely to hear who it was.

She almost winced as she heard the voice of Evon. That woman gave her the creeps, plus she always seemed to be checking up Gavin. Ray felt bad for the poor guy, she didn't see a lot of mother and son love between the two. It made her almost glad not to remember her mom. As Aziel moved into the kitchen Ray's thoughts turned to the upcoming full moon. She counted off in her head the females who wouldn't be shifting...

For starters there was herself, Kathy, and Tabby of course... Ray frowned, she couldn't think of anyone else who wouldn't be shifting, it was strange seeing everyone growing up all the sudden. Perhaps she could get a girls movie night together with Kathy and Tabby. They could watch a cheesy werewolf film some well meaning humans had made. She'd probably get bonus points from Tai for keeping Tabby out of the way, and chances were after the pranks she had planned she would need them.

As he munched on a ridiculously large sandwich Aziel asked, "so, who's then new girl" Ray smiled and gestured to Tabby, "This is Tabby" then, still smiling, she gestured to Aziel, "Tabby this is Aziel."

Ray ate another bite of food before continuing, "Tabby is Gavin's long lost little sister. " Ray smiled, there were several other things Aziel needed to know about Tabby, like the fact that she didn't know she was a werewolf. But hey, if Ray accidentally forgot to tell Aziel that important piece of info, and Aziel happened to bring up something werewolf related, well, no one could blame Ray!

Breakfast stuff? His mother sure had a way with words. She must have been tired... or rusty, but he caught on well enough, it was her way of saying 'knock it off!', but it wasn't all his fault... James was not sure how, but dammit, Ray provoked him! In some manner, or some form, she had started it, but he was glad that cleaning the potatoes had his back towards Ray as that 'innocent' voice, as fake as it was, was no doubt accompanied by a heart melting smile, and he refused to give in now. James did not work so hard to fall like a wilting flower every time a midget smiled at him, it was... insulting towards his pride even if her laughter was like music to his ears... he really needed to talk to a therapist. This was not natural in the least.

"Eh." James said with a shrug to both of Azrel's questions. In truth, his day was wonderful already. It was the first time in a long while he was able to say a few sentences to Ray without completely brushing her off, honestly, he had to fight to keep his heart from tap-dancing, but the new girl? He felt he knew this like an answer that was just out of his reach, but he was not sure he really cared. He was tempted for a moment to pretend he cared to earn some points with Ray, but that was not who he was.

But in news that did not revolve a tap-dancing heart, Gavin had earned his way on James Blacklist. Why in the hell did he get her a lockpicking set? Where did you even buy one of those? Wal*Mart lane 3? Right next to the lye salt, shovels, ropes, and poison? Oh, he would have his vengeance, and it would be sweet, his ears picked up the girls name, Tabby? Well, he probably wouldn't remember, but at least they couldn't say he didn't listen. Another person joined the group... not counting Gavins dear mother with her accent that assaulted ones ears and made him want to smash his head into a counter, it was Calvin! He only knew their names because they rhymed, and some childish part of him found it adorably amusing... like a really ugly kitten stuck in a tree.

But he did not like how many people they were in this kitchen, and some of them may try and snag some bacon! James moved quickly tearing the bacon to bits and dropping them on the egg as well as taking large... handfuls of cheese and sprinkling it on the omelet before flipping it closed and dropping more cheese on the top. Perfection... well, almost... those damn potatoes. If it wasn't for Ray..

"Hey Ray." James said trying to appear as if he was indifferent to the whole thing, "Come with me later today." He said simply. Of course, she may have other plans, but he was better then those plans. He was by far prettier than whatever lay ahead, but she could say no, so he offered up a bribe, "We can go pick up your present."

James turned away from her to find a place to sit, and of course, to get a good view of the drama that may unfold. He may not know all the players in the drama, but it was like watching Mexican Wrestling. You have no idea what is going on, why you should care, or what is being said, but you still find it highly amusing. It would distract him from his thundering heart as he awaited his answer.

"I know." James said softly. Of course he knew she was doing this just for the presents. He hadn't been exactly... 'nice' to her, and he was sure despite the teasing that if there was no present involved, she would not be coming. Probably say she had other plans, while usually that wouldn't matter, knowing Ray had better plans then him was irritating. He hid the disappointment with a wave of his fork, "No worries, I assure you, the present is worth it."

Well, it had better be. The cutting had cost a couple hundred dollars then there was the white gold chain which caused a couple thousand dollars then he had decorated the Cave which took a few days and thankfully were still up, so it had all better be worth it. James had not worked harder and spent more on anything before. Chewing on a piece of bacon, he raised his finger to say 'one moment' to Ray to finish chewing.

Taking a gulp, he shook his head before answering, "We are going to a place of magic and mystery." James said waving his fork like a wand, "And all your dreams shall come true!" He said with a flourish, before stopping and flashing a smile, "Just kidding. We are going cave spelunking." He would leave it at that.

Taking another mouthful of omelet, he watched in a somewhat bemused mood at Aziel pestering of, was it Tabitha? Yea, Tabitha. That sounded right, and so he would go with it. He did not really care about her past, her half-brother... brother... step-mother... or whatever it was that was going on, but he had nothing better to do as he ate. Sadly, watching Aziel run through his slow brain process was just... terrible. Like the little mouse in his head was having a seizure as it tried to run on its wheel. Not to mention he kept getting louder as he came near the conclusion... like those slow people who yell when talking to someone who speaks different language like it would help. The only reasons he could be doing this was he was slow and his mouse truly was having a seizure, or he was just doing it to get attention from people... maybe both? Yea, both sounded good.

James scooped another piece of omelet in his mouth savoring the cheese and bacon flavor. Shifting tonight? While James knew there were some girls going on the first, including his dear, sweet sister, wasn't there someone who didn't know about the whole going furry thing? James pondered this for once wishing he had paid a little attention when they told him, but for the life of him, he just couldn't remember. Was it Tabitha? She was new...ish. Luckily, the guy didn't say werewolves, so James figured it would be fine. As long as she didn't ask Ray, she was terrible at lying. James considered what he had seen of Aziel, he purposely made others feel awkward and like crap, he was a 'rebel', he smoked and showed a little 'defiance' when told to not smoke inside... Aziel placed a 8 on James' Asshole scale. If he rode a motorcycle he would instantly become a 9. If a loud motorcycle like a Harley, he would break the scale.

On that thought was He higher on that scale then Aziel? James just did not care and lacked interest in other people, their feelings, and what happened in their lives, but this guy seemed to take pleasure in their misfortunes, probably because his own life sucked so bad he had to drag others down with him... Nah, James was far better then him. At least he would look good standing next to him. Looking down, he felt a tang of sorrow as he saw he only had one bite left, it was so good, and he was still kind of hungry. Not hungry enough to eat another omelet, but hungry enough to eat a bowl of cereal, but Aziel had worn out his amusement factor awhile ago. James looked up at Ray curious to see if she would snap at Aziel or what, but he might get the ball rolling, as it were, "So, when are you ready to go?"

“Or she could stay with me, I know how boys need their privacy.” Jac offered with a shrug. Gavin gawked at her with abashed appreciation, then gave her a shoulder-hug and planted a kiss on her temple. "Thank you, Jac," He laughed, "But I'm going to stay with you." It was his job, a job he would happily do forever, besides, if she was sharing a room with his mom, how would he get away with... Well, he didn't want to drag her out to the middle of the woods every time he had an urge. That was insanity.

Gavin barely caught the gesture of peace Dante offered Jac with the simple cup of coffee. He smiled and squeezed her hand lightly, happy that the two sisters managed to work things out at least that much.

He listened with only partial interest as Aziel bantered and inquired details about their lives to poor Tabs. He wanted to step in, but Tai started getting frustrated; things were getting chaotic and he decided not to add to it, lest he make her more frantic. But then Aziel had to open his mouth wider. Before Gavin could interject, Tabs responded: "No... she's not my mum. I guess you're Gavin's...step-mother?"

Evon's gaze met Gavin's, offering him the chance to explain their relationship. He thought it was polite of her, but again, before he could say anything, Tai finally got a grip on the growing chaos: "Alright guys: Aziel, please finish your cigarette outside. Evon, come with me and we'll get some breakfast put on and see which room you'll be staying in."

As Gavin, Evon and Jac went to follow Tai, he did catch Aziel's last statement: "Guess that means you're his foster mum Evon...not done bad have you? Good luck meeting his real parents, bound too happen now that Tabby here has found Gavin."

Gavin was about to spin around and set Aziel straight, when to his shock, Evon seemed to beat him to it.

The French woman, though not Gavin's biological mother but looking almost identical to him, spun around on her heel and in a few steps managed to close the distance, gripping the table with her strong fingernail and glared hatefully at Aziel.

"I saved his life when his own father left him to die on the night of his first shift. If I should meet his real parents right now, and believe me I hope I do, I'd only tell them how horribly disgusted they make me and what a disgrace they are to our kind! So, yes, I am his mum." She gestured with her eyes at Tabs, sitting next to where she stood. "And this one, I know nothing about. Gavin never talked about her."

A cold, dark shiver crept up Gavin's spine. Evon appeared rather... well, wolfishly rabid, just then. But mostly his insides didn't like her talking about Tabs.

Evon turned, her peace was said on the matter, and she hoped the matter was thus cleared from further debate. She straightened her shirt with her hands, then continued to follow Tai, Gavin and Jac into the next room as though nothing happened.

Ray smiled as James replied, "We are going to a place of magic and mystery." James said waving his fork like a wand, "And all your dreams shall come true!"

Rays eyes widened and she said in mock awe, “We’re going to candy land aren’t we?”

James smiled "Just kidding. We are going cave spelunking." Ray stuck out her lip and pretended to think deeply before replying, “Well, I suppose it’s almost as good as candy land…”

Sticking her now completely washed bowl in the cupboard Ray added more seriously, “Cave spelunking sounds awesome.”

Ray was Just about to ask what she needed to bring for cave spelunking whe she realized that Tai hadn’t managed to get Aziel out of the house. Ray’s fists tightened as Aziel walked up to Tabby, "Gavin's not your half brother right?" he was stating more than asking "So what, his parents are yours and they gave you up or something, wait, you don't know Evon do-you? Infact you just asked if Evon was Gavin's Step-mother, so that means your parents, back from where ever you come from, left him somewhere? Or somehow someone somewhere messed up greatly when it came to parenting guess that means your his foster mum Evon"

Ray was going to punch him. Well, maybe not punch him he was way taller than her, maybe she would just set up a really nasty trap later. A really, really, really nasty trap.

"So, when are you ready to go?" James asked. Ray’s nail were leaving mark in her skin she was clenching her fist so hard. She replied to James slowly, “I’ll be ready to go in a few second-“

Ray was cut short by the arrival of Evon, "I saved his life when his own father left him to die on the night of his first shift.

For just a second Ray liked Evon. Mainly because she hoped that would knock Aziel down a peg or two. Then she concentrated on her last words ”this one” Now she didn’t like Evon once again. Ray was angry, something that for her didn’t happen a lot. She couldn’t yell at Evon, as she had left and was an adult werewolf.

Instead she took her anger out on the next available target, “Could you stop being an such an ass Aziel, for just a moment of your life and give the girl a break.” Ray almost grinned, that had felt better then she’d expected. Then she remembered that Aziel towered over her, was kind of ripped, and could transform into a wolf and rip out her larynx.

She turned to James, “All right, I’m ready to go.”

“Don’t worry Tab, it’s not always this crazy around the house, especially not in the morning.”

Tabby smiled appreciatively at Ray, and hoped that it would be as easy as laughing it off. The atmosphere in the house was very different to that which it had been the night before. She couldn't even remember seeing some of these guys the previous night...if she had, she'd probably have had a much easier time believing that it really was a den of wild animals! Even Tai - seemingly the 'den mother' - appeared to have a difficult time keeping them in check.

But things only got worse as suddenly the onslaught was coming from both sides. Firstly Aziel continued his tactless enquiries from across the breakfast bar, taking the place Tai had vacated only moments previous. Tabby looked his in the eye intently, her lips thinning as the boy filled in the blanks for himself with infuriating presumption.

She began to reply to him, her voice thin, weak and wavering with rage, "You don't know anything..."

She stopped when the overstated French woman slammed her hand down on the breakfast bar, and was practically leaning over Tabby to address Aziel. Tabby hunched slightly and looked down, riding out the moment of awkward and intimidating proximity. But she could not remain passive at the shocking tirade which flowed from the obnoxious woman's mouth about her own parents.

She pushed her way off the stool and drew herself to full (if rather underwhelming) height, glowering at Evon as she turned to leave again.

"Who the hell are you anyway?" she growled, "My dad's dead, I though Gavin was dead...my mom's back home still thinking they're both dead! I don't know what happened back then, but it sounds to me like you took Gavin away from us and brainwashed him with this werewolf rubbish."

She felt a pang of discomfort in her chest as she heard her own words escape her lips, and realised she may have insulted or angered any number of people. After all, she didn't know how far this werewolf cult thing spread, but the one thing she was sure of was that she was right in the middle of it's headquarters. Aziel had talked about shifts. Evon had talked about shifts. Nobody had taken them to task on it. She had no reason to doubt that everything Gavin had said to her last night was held true to some degree by everyone in the house. That was the only reason she didn't follow after Evon when she left, not knowing if the woman had even taken any notice of anything she'd said. And for a moment she couldn't look anyone in the eye, until Ray spoke up in her defence.

"Look it's OK." she mumbled, "I didn't mean to cause a stir here. I should probably get going...I just, could I use the phone to call Lance?"

Tai's panic spiralled to new heights when Evon bit back as Aziel. The words she spoke were nothing Tai hadn't heard before, but the way she spoke them...that was enlightning. Evon had such indignation for the father who'd supposedly abandoned Gavin to his death, and yet had been keen to remain aloof from him from quite an early age and for most of the time except when she felt like interfering. There was most certainly more to all of this than she had supposed, especially considering Tabby had a version of events which raised questions to say the least.

"Evon..." she implored, "...come on. We're all getting crossed wires here, let's get a drink and calm down. James, show Tabby where the phone is would you please?"

Adrian was alerted by the raised voices downstairs, and finished buttoning up his shirt before hurrying out onto the landing. At the top of the stairs he ran into Kathy and Sid.

"Mornin' guys," he said, peering discreetly down the stairs to see what was going on. "Sid, how's the old man? Not coming in for a catch up today? Shame he couldn't have come last night, Jeff was there in a panda suit. It was priceless. Anyway, uh...I think I'd better check out what's going on downstairs."

He heard the voice that made his skin crawl...Evon Argentum. 'Knives on a plate' didn't even tell the half of it.

Calvin was having a hard time not laughing at the scene which was unfolding. Yeah, it was tragic, but in a pathetic kind of way. Aziel was being an ass of course, but hell there had been enough mystery about this situation already. He liked Aziel's way of dragging the facts out kicking and screaming. And there was very nearly some literal screaming going on too.

Things got a little uncomfortable after Tabby got visibly upset by what was being said, and Calvin decided to wade in as a distraction, but couldn't resist pouring just a little fuel on the smouldering coals.

"Hey Az," he said, "so far as I understand it there's gonna be two first timers with us tomorrow night. Seems Gavin and Jac 'took care of business' in the woods last night y'know what I'm sayin', and Lyra and Kiyoshi..."

The words caught in his throat as he almost broached a topic he didn't really want to think about...Lyra and Kiyoshi together.

"...well none of my business, but yeah, Jac and Lyra, they'll both be running with us. Got a feeling it's gonna be a wild one."

He looked across at James and gave him a 'here's lookin' at you' gesture, "Hey James I guess that puts you on the back-foot huh? Not gonna look good if the future alpha doesn't have his first lady."

Jac felt her irritation rise at Aziel’s comments and she felt Gavin’s anger as well, but neither of them really had time to speak up before Evon stated her opinion quite forcefully. Jac grinned. She couldn’t help it. She now had a healthy respect for the older she-wolf.

“Well, Hot damn, so that’s where all your fire comes from” Jac whispered to Gavin as she squeezed his hand trying to comfort him a little.

Dante watched the scene with interest until Evon practically jumped on Aziel for his comments. She partially understood the older wolfs anger but then, it wasn’t as if he had done anything too bad….simply stated his opinion. Then again her view of what happened could be biases as she did find him slightly attractive. She shook her head at the thought. She didn’t have a snowballs chance in hell with a guy like him, but she sure as hell could use a breath of fresh air. The kitchen was getting to heated for her taste. She walked out the door and onto the porch and sat on the railing as she watched the clouds float across the sky.

James laid his chin on his hand watching as Ray gave Aziel a piece of her mind. It wasn't too harsh, but enough to let him know she was agitated. She was... adorable, he wasn't sure she could scare or immediate anyone. James quickly looked away pretending to find something on the wall that was fascinating when she turned to him. He did not want to be caught staring at her. James turned back to her smiling, "Alright, lets." Before he could finish his mom told him to help Tabitha find the phone. Really, she had great timing, he was trying to do this before he chickened out again like last time, and she really wasn't helping.

"Alright then." James said trying to hide his annoyance. Why did he have to show her? He barely knew her! "Ray, I'll meet you outside." James said flashing a bright smile, "Lets go.. call this lance guy, who I am way better looking then." He said pointing at Tabitha. Standing from the table, James stretched as it was going to be a long, and hopefully, good day, but again before he could move any further yet another obstacle jumped in his path in the way of Calvin, really? Why did everyone decide this would be the best time to talk to him? It did agitate him further as he brought up his sister with Mr. Stereotype. James returned with a 'what can you do' shrug, "I pick who I am going to love and be together with, and I am not going to be rushed." Or conversely, he was going to pick who he was going to love not some hairy mutt.

James moved around the table and offered Tabitha his hand just to make a joke to amuse himself. If he was going to have to do this and waste time he could be spending with Ray, he would be damned if he could not enjoy it, "Take my hand if you want to..." He paused before deepening his voice to dramatize it, "call this Lance." Seriously though, as soon as he was done with this it was straight to the cave, no more stopping or interruptions. He had to get through this. He had to take the next step before someone else tried to snatch her, or she realized who her mate was and left to find him. He was not going to lose, to anyone.

"Oh, yes you are." James said simply, his smile long gone. He was tired of this, Tabitha was going to call this lance guy, and he was leaving. He was not going to wait for Aziel to make more of an ass of himself because James could hazard a guess what he was going to do. Ray would go with because she would be worried about leaving her friend with a guy like Aziel then she would spend all day helping Tabitha get over the fact that they could go furry. "You are taking a No for an answer, and here it is, No." James said again, "You can make an ass of yourself after she has called this lance guy, and after Ray and I leave." James had enough of Aziel and people trying to ruin his day and plans. Dammit, he worked hard for this, and he had no problem fighting Aziel over this, they were the same age and almost exactly the same height, and he did not even like the guy. He did not care about Tabitha's feelings or how she would take it, he did not care, but dammit, this man was trying to ruin his day!

He was going to the cave with Ray, he was going to impress her with all the work he put in for her. James was finally going to express himself to her and either be rewarded or completely shut down, and people would stop getting in the way. Of course, a small part of himself just wanted to fight him, so he could avoid showing Ray the cave, but he preferred the former reason, so he was going with it. This self-loathing, pathetic man was either going to let her have her damn phone call, or they were going to have problems.

"So keep your mouth shut for the next five minutes then feel free to go back to being an ass." James said harshly, "If you do not the people going outside are you and me, and I swear, I will knock your damn teeth in." He had not spent weeks decorating the cave and spending thousands on the amulet to have his dreams sidetracked again this time by some jerk whose life sucked and finally realized nobody cared about him or his problems so had to make other people miserable just so he could look himself in the damn mirror. James could feel the adrenaline already starting to rush through his veins making everything clearer and his body felt electrified, he was ready to go, and he was sure he was going to enjoy it. Immensely.

“Werewolf rubbish? Werewolf rubbish! Before you call this Lance fellow, mind if I show you something? Won't take long I promise, Ray over there can come with you if you want, since she seems to be 'glued' to you. Just so you know, I’m not taking no for an answer"

So much for knocking Aziel down a peg or two. Not only was he still being an ass, but he was being an ass and freaking Tabby out. Ray wanted to introduce Tabby to werewolves, but not like this. She wanted to describe to Tabby how she imagined it would feel to be a werewolf, she wanted to show her the unity of the pack, get the boys to tell her about having heightened senses when they had wolves, she wanted to get Lyra and Kyoshi to explain what it felt like to be mated, she wanted to show Tabby how amazing it was to be a werewolf!

But Aziel was doing his best to kill that dream. “Pack unity?” That wasn’t really shining through in the current situation. Tabby probably thought they were all insane, and that this pack was about as functional as a radioactive submarine.

"Oh, yes you are, You are taking a No for an answer, and here it is, No." James said again, "You can make an ass of yourself after she has called this lance guy, and after Ray and I leave."

Ray smiled, and in that moment officially crossed James off her list of people she disliked. Sure he had his bad moments, but right no Ray knew he was a good person. And if he could stick up for Tabby so fiercely, he might even make a good Alpha sometime in the (very distant) future.

She couldn’t do much about Aziel, she doubted he’d back off because of the threat of a prank sometime in the future. Instead she decided to do something about Tabby. She raced out of the room quickly; she didn’t want to miss anything. She grabbed the first phone she spotted off it’s charged and dashed back to the kitchen.

Without coming between the boys she headed over to where Gabby was standing. Before she handed the over she said, “The werewolf stuff is real, we’re not crazy, I promise. I get that it seems pretty insane to you, but to the rest of us it’s our life.” She handed the phone to Tabby, and stood to the side, ready to fetch Adrian if things got to out of hand with Aziel and James.

Raising an eyebrow at James as he offered his hand, Tabby cocked her head and grimaced a little.

"Actually, I'm good thanks..." she declined, wondering who on earth James thought she was calling if he'd felt the need to suggest that he was 'better looking'...clearly he didn't realise that Lance was a guy twice her age who could quite plausibly be her uncle, as she had told Lyra and Tai he was even though that was't true.

But when Aziel began to laugh at her Tabby could scarcely get a word in edgeways with everyone seeming to pull her from pillar to post. She certainly had something to say to Aziel's insisting that she go with him to be shown something, except the trepidationg this time was far greater than last night when Gavin had told her he was going to prove his point. She could see there was a door in the kitchen which seemed to lead out of the house, and the idea of bolting was coming to the fore as the most attractive option...in which case Lance would probably have done her a favour by failing to turn up with her things, because she'd have nothing to leave behind! What was going on in this house, and how on earth had she become the centre of attention of it all?!

Then James came to the rescue, but his mannerism suggested a something less than altruistic motive. Even so, she was willing to use the guy as a buffer zone between herself and Aziel, and then Ray ran out of the room...perhaps to get Tai to come back and restore the peace? Actually perhaps not...Tai had already done her part by removing that French woman and was probably wrapped up in that.

Oh god... Tabby thought to herself, ...is this the sort of thing mom was trying to protect me from by keeping us seperate from the rest of town all those years?

Calvin's mood was taking a dip in proportion to the raising of voices, which were not doing his headache any favours. James' challenge to take Aziel outside was the last straw, and Calvin set his mug of coffee down on the side counter with enough force to make a loud bang...as well as spilling a little bit of the piping hot coffee onto his hand.

"Ow, dammit!" Calvin cursed, "For fucksake guys will you both just sort it out? I've got a hangover and I will personally shove your heads up each others asses and turn you into a wolf ying-yang if you don't turn the noise down. Az, come outside with me, I got something I wanna tell you."

The scene was quite something to behold, and even within his throbbing brain he was relating everyting that unfolded to what Jason had told him in the bar the night before. It compounded everything. Chaos. That was the inevitable outcome of trying to create a static type or order in a pack just stagnated and festered in a human-like existence. Which all sounded reakin' philosophical for a guy who was still half-cut from the night before, but the words had made such an impression on him that the confirmation bias took hold over his hangover and sent his mind into overdrive.

If it was to Calvin's advantage to sow seeds of discontent...well, Aziel was a grow-bag full of rich compost. He picked up his coffee again and walked over to the back door to the patio, and looked at Aziel to see if he could come.

Tabby looked at the ground, hoping that Aziel would follow the other guy outside and the gorilla chest-beating in the kitchen would burn itself out, when Ray reappeared with a phone. Thank god. Tabby held out a hand to take it with a grateful smile, but the smile dropped slightly when Ray did not immediately hand it over, but instead unexpectely implored her to believe that there was truth to the werewolf business. But coming from Ray it was different. There wasn't a hint of malice, mischief or bravado...or even pretence. Tabby didn't doubt that Ray believed what she said, and that she didn't want her to be frightened by it. She was also the first person to intimate the slightest hint of sympathy that such a claim would be hard for Tabby to accept.

So Tabby took a deep breath in and nodded, took the phone and hesitated before dialing, looking across at Ray and wondering how to respond. It didn't matter how genuine she seemed. Tabby didn't believe in werewolves. Or ghosts. Or fairies. And no amount of sincerity was going to overcome that. Even so, it was obviously important to these people. Hell, Ray had said 'it's our life'...Tabby had no interest in trying to challenge or rock the foundations of that if it was such a big deal to them.

"That's cool." was all she could think of to say, "I get that. Who am I to say it isn't real...thanks."

She gave a weak smile and stepped out into the hall with the phone, struggling to remember Lance's number. She couldn't even check it on her cell phone because the battery was dead...damn...what was it again...?

"Too bad." Adrian said to Sid with a nod. No worries though, I'm sure I'll catch up with him soon enough. And yeah when you see Mr Dean on Monday be sure to make a Panda joke, it was a classic moment. And make sure you tell your dad about it, he'll get a huge kick out of it!"

He chuckled to himself as he began to make his way down the stairs. Of everyone in the entire Khöller pack, Sid was the pup who'd turned out most like his father. It was sometimes like having Tyler back in the house all over again. Which for the most part was an awesome thought...but that said, Adrian and Tyler had been through some pretty rough stuff together. The fact that there was one bedroom with a much newer window and decor than the others was testimony to that...

Anya, who had lead Duncan into the kitchen after Calvin, merely stood at the edge and observed the scene. It was quite something. James and Aziel were fronting up to one another, with the threat of taking it outside hanging in the air. Her gaze flickered towards Tabby to see her response. Uncomfortable. That's exactly how she looked. Not frightened or disturbed, which meant that someone had explained everything to her. Anya was glad. It was better that she understood what she was if she was going to remain here with the Pack. It was only a matter of time before she found out anyway. The full moon was only one night away now and there would be wolves running around everywhere. Including herself now. Which was a scary thought...

As Calvin gestured for Aziel to follow him, she felt Duncan wrap one of his arms around his waist. The tiny gesture sent warmth spending throughout her body. Turning to him, she gave a bright smile, nodding her head. "That's ok, you don't have to eat. But I probably should...I'm going to need all the energy I can get right?" Worry crossed her eyes for a brief second, before it disappeared. Reaching up, she kissed him lightly on the lips, before turning to everyone else. She was still worried about how he was feeling over his father's death. After all, it had only happened the night before.

"Well, good morning," She said as cheerily as she could manage. There was a distinct tension that hung over the room from Aziel and James' little fight. "I see you stayed the night Tabby. I'm sure that Ray is looking after you." Turning to the young girl, she smiled comfortingly moving her hair behind her ear. Glancing at Duncan, she took his hand and pulled him towards the breakfast table, the smell of toast too inviting.

For a few seconds Ray was quite after Anya and Duncan entered. They kissed quickly and suddenly Ray put two and two together to realize they were mates. her first thoughts weren't those of Joy, actually they were more along the lines of, "Well that's just great. Another person who'll be changing tomorrow night." But Ray quickly pushed those thoughts out of her head. If there were two people in the entire pack house deserved to find their mates it was Anya and Duncan, they'd both waited so long to find their mates already.

Ray blanched at the thought of spending another five or ten years waiting to change. She couldn't imagine it, Ray had already knew she probably had at least two more years to go, but ten? Duncan must have been going out of his head with worry. She smiled at Anya and Duncan as Anya said, "Well, good morning I see you stayed the night Tabby. I'm sure that Ray is looking after you."

Ray nodded cheerfully, "I most definitely am. I'm being nice, I got her the phone, and I haven't pranked her once. " Ray smiled, hoping that if she acted lighthearted it might diffuse a bit of the tension.

Continuing she said to the pair, "By the way, congrats guys. You excited for the full moon?" After they'd responded Ray turned to James, "How about it, You excited for the full moon?" Ray hoped to diffuse the situation by getting a conversation started that had nothing to do with Tabby not being a wolf. Although, come to think of it, she may have botched that goal up a bit by talking about the full moon in front the girl who didn't believe she was a werewolf.

Aziel – The Kitchen

Aziel watched Tabby intently as he waited for her reply, of all the things to have come about in the past few days he had never expected to meet a werewolf who didn’t know what they were. It was a strange theory, but he knew it was also highly dangerous for the girl. If she mated with a human, (whom knows if it could happen) she would have no clue what would be happening to her the following full moon when she shifts. The panic alone would probably kill her at the start of her shift before she even got to the difficult part.

It was for her own good that she learns what she is and fast, for all he knew she could be mated already without realising it, all it took was one little interaction with a male and her death would be sentenced. Knowing all this Aziel was not prepared to stand by and allow an innocent girl die just because of her own stupid naivety.

He may be an ass most of the time, hell it him amused how the slightest thing could upset people, it was as though they had no tolerance with their wolfs bantering on in each of their heads. It was the same for him after all, probably worse than most of the others with his wolves dominance problems. However Aziel understood the things that had to be done, most people like to tiptoe around difficult situations, but Aziel just liked to get things over with.
Tabby had to learn of her true-self as soon as possible so she could have enough time to cope with it, he knew it wasn’t going to be easy to face and like most people needed visual confirmation in order to believe the truth.

So he was going to do what had to be done.

However, as expected not everyone had the sharp mind that Aziel had nor the intuition to put small matters aside and just do what is needed even if it means hurting someone and sacrificing their own problems. James seemed adamant that Aziel wasn’t going to solve this problem with Tabby, as he shouted "Oh, yes you are, You are taking a No for an answer, and here it is, No." James said again, "You can make an ass of yourself after she has called this lance guy, and after Ray and I leave." The grinding of Aziel’s anger began to settle in as he tightened his fists, James giving him orders? He wasn’t Alpha yet, and he doubted he would be since Lyra was a lot calmer in such situations when she wanted to be. The idea of taking orders from James only left him amusement and adamant it wouldn’t happen. The only possibility of it happening would be if James somehow impressed him, which he highly doubted.

Aziel was going to ignore his comment but James just had to open his mouth again, "So keep your mouth shut for the next five minutes then feel free to go back to being an ass." James said harshly, "If you do not the people going outside are you and me, and I swear, I will knock your damn teeth in."

“Knock my teeth in?” he repeated his last words with an un-nerving glare “Coming from a pipsqueak like you that’s fancy talk, last time I checked you didn’t give me ‘orders’ James, you’re not Adrian so don’t go getting all high and mighty brat” a growl slithered from his lips in a threatening tone “so unless you want to be humiliated I suggest you shut your own mouth and go scuttle off somewhere if you want to leave with Ray. I don’t need her with Tabby if you want her that badly”
In reality he knew having Ray around would probably help Tabby cope, but, if that couldn’t happen she would just have to deal with it on her own unless someone else came along. He’d try to change back to human as soon as possible if need be to help talk her through it, even though she may not want to see him after. Maybe that other new girl could come with her, didn’t seem like the blonde had anything interesting to do.

The smell of coffee filtered through Aziel’s nose as he tensed his body ready for fight, "Ow, dammit!" Calvin suddenly cursed, "For fucksake guys will you both just sort it out? I've got a hangover and I will personally shove your heads up each others asses and turn you into a wolf ying-yang if you don't turn the noise down. Az, come outside with me, I got something I wanna tell you."

At the sound of Calvin’s interruption it was as though the room suddenly zoomed back to reality, in his attempt to calm his rage Aziel had only focused on James for a time forgetting of the others presence. Whipping his head around to face Calvin he raised an eyebrow, “wolf ying-yang?” he said it with a questioning tone with slight mockery, what kind of threat was that? It just made him want to snicker at the comedic aspect of it. Not expecting a reply to his mockery he continued “we can sort out it easily, Tabby just needs to come outside for a moment and James can go prattle somewhere with Ray”

Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Anya and Duncan, they were being all cuddly which could only mean another pair had mated. Aziel felt slightly glad for Duncan considering how long he had waited before pushing it out of his mind to return to Calvin.

“You can tell me whatever it is after i’ve shown Tabby what she needs to see” he wasn’t shouting but his tone was beginning to grow frustrated, Ray had handed Tabby the phone as they had been talking, and Tabby had managed to leave the room with all of the distractions about.

“God damn it” Aziel growled frustrated as he turned to the direction she had disappeared too, he wasn’t going to wait around to sort out this mess, that wasn’t his nature. “Calvin come with me outside you can tell me as I again have to sort out everyone’s bluddy’ mistakes. Can’t any of you do things yourself for once!”

His temper had reached maximum, could they not see the immediate attention that was needed here? They all only prattled about their own lives not thinking about the small consequences of each of their actions. Holding back from convincing Tabby for their own guilt at hurting or scaring her was just going to cause her more harm than good if they weren’t careful. The faster she knows the better.

Not wasting time Aziel stormed into the hallway following Tabby’s scent, he quickly found her after looking around, walking up to her with a determined glare he took liberty in locking his hand around her upper arm not caring that she was looking at the phone in thought. “Your coming with me now, no objections” he said not waiting for a reply as he continued to drag her along with him, he paid attention not to hurt her however, his grip just tight enough that she couldn’t pull free. It wasn’t in Aziel’s arbitrary to harm females despite his anger problems.

Taking her through the hall and towards the doorway, he made sure to avoid Adrian has his scent drifted around nearby. He didn’t want to have deal with him right now.

Light shined through the glass windows as he pushed open the door leading outside and walked out into the open still gripping onto Tabby’s arm, taking her over to the patio area he turned and placed his other hand on her upper arm saying “Now sit, and watch” as he lightly pushed her down onto one of the wooden chairs that were mildly comfortable. If Calvin came he could act as a comfort to her distress if Ray was opting out due to James. He didn’t care; she had to learn the truth.

Lyra allowed her mind to wander as they returned to the pack house. She did not mind the silence that seemed to creep endlessly between them in their moments of escape. Lyra knew that they did not need words to express what they felt for one another. She could feel his compassion from the way he held her hand and how he slowed his pace to keep in time with her shorter legs. In some, Lyra felt their silence was louder than any words could be. They could understand each other without speaking. When the time came for Lyra's first shift, she recognized this ability as the most useful of all.

Lyra smiled, admiring the nature they passed as they neared the house. They had walked through the forest part of the way so that they faced the porch. They were still hidden by distance and foliage, but Lyra could all ready see the shuffling of morning chaos. Yes, she would treasure these last few moments with Kiyoshi. “Lyra,” he murmured. Lyra looked to him, smiling and wondering what he could have to say. Despite their connection, she would always have trouble reading the thoughts he wanted to keep hidden from her. “Have you ever considered what you will do if James wins?”

Lyra blinked, her golden eyes flashing with confusion and rage before slipping into hurt. She stopped dead in her tracks and broke their gaze as she suddenly found the ground more interesting than Kiyoshi. At this moment, perhaps anything could be more interesting than Kiyoshi. The only thing that kept her calm and resisting rage was the fact that their fingers were still entwined. "I.. I don't know," she muttered, somewhere between a sigh and a growl. "I... figure.... "

Lyra groaned, her brain flickering with a million thought waves at once. What would she do? Did Kiyoshi have so little faith in her, his own mate, that he felt the need to bring this up now? What the hell had they been training for all these years if he thought she would fall before James?

Stop this, Lyra. He has a valid point. You have everything against you, Lyra. Do not take this out on Kiyoshi. Lyra moaned softly, her hand drifting from Kiyoshi's grasp to hold her own head as she turned away from him. The voice. It was like an earthquake shuddering in her mind. Painful, loud, and deadly. And it was also her wolf as it edged nearer to the full moon. Lyra closed her eyes for a moment, trying to hide the shattering migraine from Kiyoshi. In her mind's eye, she could feel the wolf's lips curling into a malicious smile. Take it out against James.

Lyra opened her eyes slowly and was instantly blinded by the sunlight. She blinked slowly, dizzy, and desperately wanted Kiyoshi near. However, she remained on her own feet. He did not need to feel her slight tremble from only the wolf's voice. He did not need the extra worry that Lyra had felt since her wolf began to enter her mind. He did not need to know that, somehow, it was getting stronger. "I haven't thought that far ahead," she admitted slowly, her buzz ebbing away as the wolf retreated. "Until now, I thought I would have longer to wait before receiving my wolf. If I fail... I'll lose everything," Lyra said. Her eyes drifted longingly over the pack house, the house that belonged to the alpha. "I suppose I would not be able to continue living here. If I do fail, I don't know what I would do. That's why I can't fail." Lyra looked up to him, determination settling in. "if I go through with this, what else could I do if I fail?"

"Now sit, and watch."

Lyra looked up to the voice of Aziel. She did not expect someone to come out now. What was he doing? Lyra squinted in the sunlight as he dragged someone after him, someone that it took Lyra a moment to place. Tabby?! What did he want with her? She watched the pair and saw the girl's resistance. What was he-

Lyra knew that face. She recognized what he was going to do. She would never be able to become alpha if she did not recognize her packmate's patters. And now it could save a life, or at least the mentality of one. "Kiyo, I don't know," she admitted. "But I do know that if I want to become alpha, I have to stop this. Now," she said, sprinting forward and running to the porch. Lyra was thankful that she was in her running sneakers as she came up on the two. She could not know what to do if she lost, but she knew what to do here. Her mind ran through the different steps she could take. Aziel. Temper. Keep him calm. Reason with him. As she ran, Lyra flicked her wrist to alert her presence, the chimes of bells floating from her bracelets.

"Aziel," Lyra mummered as she approached the two. Carefully, Lyra put her hand on his shoulder. Arguing with him would not help. She leaned forward and whispered into his ear, "Not now. Please." With a smile, Lyra looked to Tabby. "I hope Aziel hasn't been too much of a trouble to you. He is just a bit headstrong at times." Her smile faded as she turned back to the boy and shook her head sharply. She did not raise her voice or question him, but her eyes glittered with the determination that only Lyra could hold. "You are not her brother; this is not your responsibility," Lyra said softly for his wolf hears only. "I know what you are trying to do, but this is not the way. Please," she said, gazing into his eyes and pleading him to understand.

Tabby couldn't respond to Anya and Ray with anything more than a forced smile as she struggled to try to remember Lance's number...which was a hopeless task because she couldn't even remember a time she'd dialled it! One of the drawbacks of phones with internal address books...

She wasn't much closer to a result either when Aziel strode out of the kitchen purposefully. She flinched at the very sight of him - the boy perhaps having established himself as the one person she was most wary of in the entire house - and a cold punch of adrenaline released within her as he grabbed hold of her arm. Her eyes widened and she surprised herself with her first instinct...

"Gavin!?" she called out, not knowing whether her brother had gone to a completely different area of the house, and there was so much ruccus that she could only hope her voice would stand out among the others for the genuine distress it contained.

She certainly didn't go willingly with Aziel, but neither did she struggle hard, instead examining the eyes of all they passed on the way. Surely they wouldn't let her come to harm, would they? Besides, he was taking her outside. It would have been felt entirely more sinister if he'd led her into another room or something. Some dungeon where people were kept if they refused to play along with the little werewolf game...

Tai, Evon and Gavin were in the dining room. Gavin had his face buried in his hands, wondering what madness-gas had seeped into the Khöller pack-house to trigger all of this. And more to the point, how on earth had his mother found out about him and Jac? Who was this 'little birdie'?

Tai and Evon were having an indistinct conversation which seemed to consist most of small-talk and the alpha female trying to distract Gavin's mother from the burst of outrage in the kitchen. But then, things got a bit more serious. Gavin heard Tabby calling from the hallway, and a significant kerfuffle as a portion of the noise moved away to the other end of the house, through the kitchen. A visceral impulse propelled his body out of the room and in the direction of the sound.

Tai heard Tabby's yelp, saw Gavin bolt out of the room and panicked. She lunged towards the door as well, and leaned out just in time to see Gavin and Adrian colliding at the bottom of the stairs.

"What's happening?" she heard Adrian say to Gavin.

"Things are getting out of hand..." Gavin, making his way into the kitchen. Adrian looked confused, but spotte Tai in the dining room doorway. He narrowed his lips and nodded resolutely, before making chase after Gaving. Tai shook her head, her thrumming away in her chest as she turned back to Evon.

"Sorry Evon..." she said, "...I don't know how to explain really, but things seem to all be happening at once here. Not that I'm saying you're not welcome, not at all. It's just that, well, I'm sure you can appreciate that this close to the full moon things are in a delicate balance, especially with some of the young folk finding their mates...there's going to be first shifts and..."

"I know exactly what you mean." Evon snapped, "As you just heard me say, I was there for Gavroche's first shift, and if I hadn't been, I would have died. I wish to make sure that his new mate is put in no such danger."

Tabby stared at Aziel from her place in the wooden chair. They were outside, it was broad daylight, the weather was even quite nice, and it diluted the threat which she percieved in the bolshy guy who'd just dragged her outside and forced her to sit. But her heart was still going like a jackhammer. This was just the same was what Gavin had almost done the previous night, except that Aziel was clearly determined to follow through with it. She said nothing. It was apparent that her opinion was not being asked of all of this.

Her lungs emptied in a gasp of relief when Lyra and Kiyoshi appeared. She stared at the girl's face intently, reading her lips as best as she could when she approached Aziel. Tabby's emotions wered mixed. On the one hand, Lyra seemed to be trying to calm Aziel down and get him to relent. On the other hand, it was apparent Lyra believed that there was actually something Aziel had to show. So...Lyra believes it too...

She jumped slightly at the hand on her shoulder, snapping her head up but calming again when she realised it was Kiyoshi. What was it that made him and Lyra so different from the others? In any case, at least she wasn't facing Aziel alone now. And in some ways, having the comfort of two other people in her corner almost made her curious to see what it was Aziel was going to do, now that the danger didn't seem so great.

Gavin stormed into the kitchen, where Calvin was stood with his hand over his eyes and an exhasperated look on his face.

"What the hell...?" Gavin demanded to know what was happening.

"I think Aziel's going to shift for Tabby." Calvin said in a tedious, matter-of-fact sort of voice.

"Idiot!!" Gavin growled, "I'm going to fucking kill him..."

Gavin lunged in the direction of the door out onto the patio, but felt a jolt as Calvin's hand landed on his shoulder and held him back. Gavin turned, ready to throw a fist at Calvin if that was what it took, but he saw that Calvin had his other hand pointed out of the window, and so looked in the direction he was pointing. He saw that Lyra and Kiyoshi were out there as well, but Tabby was clearly shaken up.

"Give it a minute." Calvin said calmly, "I think there might be an important point about to be proven here."

"No!" Gavin protested, "She should hear it from me first!"

"I'm not talking about the wolf thing." Calvin said, "Just watch for a minute. You'll see what I mean..."

Anya opened her mouth to respond to Ray, halfway through buttering her toast, when Aziel marched back into the room. Freezing for a second, all thoughts of the coming moon disappeared as she watched him grab Tabby's arm, before tugging her up and out of the room. The look on his face was enough to send shivers down her spine. He meant business. Though she had seemingly missed what was going on, she suspected that it had something to do with Tabby being a werewolf and knowing Aziel as she did, he was probably going to do something compulsive and drastic. Glancing at Ray and James, she shook her head as she dropped her buttering knife onto her plate.

"Sometimes he can be a real..." Her words stopped dead in her throat when both Calvin and Gavin entered the kitchen. Gavin looked positively murderous as Calvin explained and then lunged for the door, only to be held back. Glancing out of the window, she watched as Lyra tried to calm Aziel. Well it what was she assumed the young woman was doing and if she wasn't, well who knew what she was doing out there. And besides, in the kitchen everyone was watching and ready to spring. Kiyoshi was also a little way off, watching events unfold as well.

"Lyra will sort it," She whispered softly, looking over at Gavin for a second before her gaze returned to the window. An impatient growl echoed around her head. That was still weird, hearing her wolf.

"You should take action. Go out there and have some fun."

"Without the use of violence or anything else." She added in a quiet voice. Secretly she didn't think James' threat to Aziel had been very helpful, but she would never tell him so. He could be somewhat unpredictable at times. Her eyes fell on Duncan again, as she silently asked him if he was ok and whether or not he wanted to leave.

"Oh, shut up and fight me." James said matching Aziel's glare, it did not matter if this over muscled brute lacked the brain power for complex conversation, but if they were going to fight. They were going to fight not have a ten minute pissing contest followed by pushing. Plus pipsqueak? They were virtually the same height! Unless that was a knock at his wolf form, but James doubted Aziel had the ability to count least be clever. Calvin jumped in, but James was not listening concentrated purely on Aziel ready for him to back up his talk and throw a punch, but he did not. Aziel was just as much talks as James always believed he was, "Shut up Calvin." James replied when he finished whatever it was he had been saying. He was sure it was something threatening, or comedic, but James had blood to spill.

From the corner of his eye, he spotted Tabby making a quick getaway, which worked out fine. Gave James more room to work with during the fight, but Aziel backed down and chased after Tabby. "Coward." James called after him. If Aziel was not going to shut up then he should have put up not run away with his tail between his legs. Now he was stuck, did he chase after Aziel break his nose simply because he wanted to? Or did he stay and see if Ray wanted to go now? He did not want to stay because if Ray decides to follow them, he will have a hell of a time getting them away, this was probably the best chance to get out of here before something else popped up. Aziel was a stupid man, so it would not take long for him to get something else stuck up his rear end, and James could smash his teeth in then...

Then Calvin and Gavin had some conversation about Tabby, werewolf, and Aziel... but James had little interest in that. Aziel was gone, and he was now alone, well figuratively speaking, with Ray. To top it off it seemed his sister was out there, and if she was out there her then Mr. Stereotype was there with her. She probably would be able to handle this, but more importantly, the news that she was there may convince Ray that it would be fine to leave... Clapping his hands to get Ray's attention, James flashed a smile, "Ready to go?"

Aziel was looking a little more pressurised and frustrated by the way Lyra tried to dissuade him, but the determination on his face softened a little as he looked at a point behind Tabby, towards the door. Tabby slowly turned her head to look, and saw that guy - Lyra's father, the 'group leader' as she had come to assume - standing there looking very concerned. Not angry, not mortified...just concerned.

"OK..." Adrian said, pacing calmly to stand between Tabby and Kiyoshi on the one side, and Lyra and Aziel on the other, "...I think I can see what's happening here. Let's just take a minute to look this in the eye, and see if this is really what we want to be doing."

He gave Aziel a long stare - not judgemental or reprimanding, but just a delicate shake of his head. Adrian didn't know Aziel as well as he knew some of the other omegas, but he knew him better than the boy himself thought. Aziel was a loose canon (and not the only one in the group) but he wasn't totally unscrupulous, and he certainly didn't have the sort of contempt that would be necessary for him to disregar the instruction of an alpha.

Next, Adrian turned to Tabby and smiled sympathetically. Clearly, much was already out in the open. But perhaps nobody had given sufficient consideration for how the girl was going to take it. She might be able to accept it, sure enough, but it wasn't going to happen instantly.

"Tabby," he said softly, "I'm sure you've heard a lot of things from us which are strange. But I'm sure it's not the first time you've heard someone say something which seemed odd. It's only natural that when something knows or believes something to be true, they want to introduce others to that truth as well; especially if it has a special bearing on that other person. But there's one thing more true than anything else that I really want you to believe first."

He made a sideways glance to the others arounds them, and through the window to those in the kitchen, before continuing. "I want you to know and believe that here you are among friends, and nobody's going to do you any sort of harm. Isn't that right guys and girls?"

Lyra watched her father carefully as Aziel calm down. Her father had so much strength and control over their pack. There was nothing more Lyra wanted than to be just like him. Powerful, smart, alpha. What did he think of this situation in its own? Was he angry that Lyra chose to attend it as she did? Was there a better way should could have handled it? The burning question that made her throat run dry was the consideration if he would have had James solve this matter instead of herself. Surely if it had been James, Adrian would not have felt the need to intervene.

Lyra snapped her thoughts back to the present at Adrian's last words. Of course they were friends. That was the exact point Lyra had been trying to show Tabby since she first stumbled upon the town. Lyra knew how to handle this. It was disappointing that her father did not think this also. Had she all ready lost the race for alpha before it even began?

Lyra bit her lower lip and nodded to his words. No matter how she felt about this, bitterness would not help Tabby in this situation. Whether she became alpha or...... not...... the comfort of her pack members would always come first. It was as Lyra had heard many times. With the first cup of tea you were a stranger, the second you are an honored guest, and with the third cup of tea you are family. Lyra all ready felt protection towards this girl. And as Gavin's sister, Lyra would do all she could. "He's right, Tabby," Lyra said softly, her hand slipping from Aziel's shoulder. She swept closer to Adrian, Tabby, and Kiyoshi, smiling to the young wolf. Although Lyra's eyes were several shades lighter than Adrian's own, it was obvious that she was his daughter in this moment. They held the same compassion and self confidence that Adrian had. The willingness for others to calm down and loose their state of hysteria.

She smiled to Kiyoshi, not wanting him to feel forgotten. Now was not the time for her to thank him for his work in assisting Tabby, but Lyra knew he would understand. She would be nothing without him, that she had realized many years ago. "This is new to us also Tabby. You are unique in your own way and it is difficult for us to understand or even know how we should react. But we all have the best intentions, even if some of us are more straight forward," she said, shooting a glare towards Aziel, "or think that we need to protect the ones we love from the truth by leaving them behind. You yourself commented on the closeness of this house and whether you want to be or not, you are a part of it now. We will care and protect you the best we can. We are just unsure what the best way to do this would be. Maybe, instead of trying to force you into what we want you to be, you can tell us how we should go about this." Lyra looked to the young woman and smiled calmly. "To begin with, do you have any questions? I know Gavin tried talking to you earlier, but I understand that seeing him may not be the easiest thing right now."

Lyra stepped forward and, although it was slightly childish, she held out her hand in a motion of comfort in the chance Tabby needed it. "You can trust me."

Lyra observed Adrian carefully, more interested in how he managed this situation than Tabby herself at the moment. Lyra knew that Adrian had not considered her as alpha yet. He never took the time to formally train her as he did for James. It was only in moments like this where Lyra could learn and prove that she was just as capable as her male counterpart. As a matter of fact, where was James? Frolicking about no doubt. It would be below him to actually show some effort for another human being once in awhile.

Lyra's golden eyes flickered to Tabby as Adrian subtly won his case in the argument. His tactics were far from what Aziel had been attempting to do. Even Lyra did not consider to bring in the falsely claimed relationship between Lance in Tabby to strengthen her argument. Brilliant.

Lyra smiled to Tabby as he girl returned to questioning her, her attention refocused to the situation at hand. Lyra bit on her bottom lip carefully to the question, questioning the best way to begin. The pressure was even tighter now that Adrian was watching. Potentially, this could make or break her future in the pack. Her pack.

"Yes," Lyra answered softly, her fingers floating in attempt to sooth the situation. "I can now." Her eyes drifted toward Kiyoshi as they shared a secret smile for a moment. Lyra blinked and refocused her attention. "Just like for humans, though, girls work differently than guys. Guys typically have their first when between eight or ten." Lyra waited patiently for the time connection to e made in Tabby's head before continuing. "That's when Gavin left, after his first shift. As the we age, the teenagers eventually move into the pack house like this one. Here we grow and learn together, forming bonds with our packmates despite true kinship. Due to these bonds, Gavin is as much my brother as he is yours."

Lyra bit her lip, judging how stressed Tabby was before continuing. "You and I, as females, are different. Your race has been concealed from you because it takes a very important event before a female can shift. Like wolves, we mate for life. And so, we need out mates to help us through the first shift." Lyra offered Tabby a smile and slipped beside Kiyoshi, her hand entwining with his as she leaned carefully into him. "I discovered that my mate is Kiyoshi. It is impossible to say who it will be, or even why. It's just a feeling you have suddenly. And now, I will be able to join the males of the pack for tomorrow's full moon as I shift for the first time. This is why it is so important you understand what you are. If you found your mate without realizing it, your genetic material would cause you to shift. It is a horrible process to be in alone, but now... You won't have to. You have us, if you want." Lyra offered her a smile, not knowing what to expect from the bewildered girl.

"Your old town was like this, that is why the kids in the house were so close together. In this human filled world, it is our secret that keeps us bounded. I know you need to take this all in, but I did not think having Aziel shift in front of you would solve anything. We do not want to scare you."

There was a rational part in Tabby's mind that was imploring her to close her ears and stop listening to what Lyra was saying. But it was becoming more difficult by the second to write off all these people as lying or crazy. Lyra didn't sound like she was making this up as she went along. And when she said about males first shifting at the ages of eight to ten, she was immediately reminded of what Gavin had told her the night before. The two accounts lined up. It made sense of the fact that Gavin was even alive.

Once Lyra was finished Tabby glanced towards Aziel, who was scowling but remaining silent nonetheless; no doubt humbled by the presence of Adrian who was quite obviously respected and obeyed in this 'family'. Eventually she looked down and shook her head, a gentle laugh escaping her lips.

"You know ever since Gavin left," she said, "at least once a month I've had nightmares about a pack of wolves. I always imagined it was the wolves I'd been told had killed Gavin and dad, imagining that they'd come for me too. I'm terrified of wolves!"

She took a deep breath and looked at Adrian. He was smiling at Lyra and leaning back against a wall. Tabby turned to Lyra also and gave her a good-humoured smile. "So...I guess as long as I stay single I'm pretty safe huh? Works for me."

In the kitchen Calvin watched, his hand still on Gavin's shoulder restraining him from going outside. He couldn't hear everything that was being said, particularly between Tabby and Lyra. But he could see what he needed to see. He how Lyra got involved in the situation, and acted like a leader. He saw how Adrian looked at her with approval. However, he also saw how Lyra knitted herself to Kiyoshi in her demonstration of the way things are. All the while, James was absent. It was a shame. The potential conflict that would transpire from his presence would have been quite useful.

Then came some words which Calvin did hear; about the full moon tomorrow night. His gut twitched. He'd not considered it being so soon. It didn't leave him very much time to move everything into place. He needed to get Lyra on her own, and he needed to do it soon. Which meant somehow removing Mr Chopstick...if only for ten minutes.

Tabby felt her skin practically crawl as Lyra remained on the subject of 'mates'. It sounded incredibly primitive, yet at the same time she was providing a visual example in the way of herself and Kiyoshi. And they certainly seemed happy enough. Like they'd been a couple for years. It hadn't seemed quite the same with Gavin and that 'Jac' girl the previous night, but...well, Tabby was already realising that Gavin was a rather full-on personality and that could have something to do with it.

Besides, she could see everyone around her was more relaxed now that she'd put her defences down - except perhaps Aziel who was still looking rather defeated - and it seemed like it was as well to let it go. Especially as the subject of Lance came up and she realised she'd been about to call him.

"Oh boy, yeah." she muttered, "I was just gonna call him, he never did show. He probably met some people somewhere, got talked into something stupid."

She smiled awkwardly, slightly apologetic that she'd lied to everyone about him being her uncle. That said, it wasn't as though the truth was any weirder than anything she'd had to get her head around since walking into the house! She picked up the phone which she had dropped near her chair, and without looking started dialing. The tactic worked; thinking about it less helped her memory recover Lance's cell number, and she put the handset to her ear.

Jason smoothed down his clothes and snorted in contempt, hoping that it would disguise the discomfort in his back which he always felt after shifting. It was a demeaning reminder that he would never again be fit for combat. Butchering an unarmed human was one thing...

"Calvin." he corrected, "Yeah he must be about your age, I dunno you kids all look the same to me."

Ash made her excuses to go and take a bath, and Jason huffed and spat on the ground. Even back in human form there was still the metallic taste of blood in his mouth.

"Sure thing," he said, "for now you can..."

He was interrupted by a frenetic, tinny musical tone emanating from the deceased human's jacket pocket. Jason pursed his mouth and stared at the corpse for a moment, wondering what to do. After a few moments of indecision he quickly retried the cell phone and looked at the display. The name which appeared there made him panic.

"It's her." he said, "The girl we came for."

He pressed the button to answer the call, but then immediately flipped it over, prized the back off and removed the battery, slipping it into his pocket and the phone into another pocket. It might come in useful later, but for now he would prefer Tabitha to simply think that he friend's phone had run out of charge whilst answering the call.

"Well," he went on, "for now you can take your pretty self off to do whatever you feel like. After a good morning's work why don't you head into town and treat yourself to something nice? I'm gonna go to the camp and tell Winter that the plan is back on track."

"God damn it's tight!" Nico cursed, as the four boys wriggle their way down the narrow passageway. Normally he would have the confidence to suppose that they would have turned back if the crevice didn't get wider up ahead, but unfortunately he knew that Q-Ball was in the lead, so there was no confidence at all that common sense would prevail.

"I dunno," Drake sneered, "I've had tighter."

"Sure you have hot-shot." Craig grizzled, looking back contemptuously. "Keep telling yourself that stud."

"Let the baby have his bottle." Nico chuckled, "He can say what he wants when there's probably no female within a mile to say to the contrary."

Nico and Craig laughed between themselves. Up ahead the sound of running water rose up again, confirming that they were heading towards an underwater spring. Unfortunately, it was also getting gradually darker. Nico found himself wanting to suggest shifting, but at this stage the ability to communicate orally probably outweighed the size and agility advantage of being in wolf form.

"You see anything Q?" Nico called forward.

"Yeah, yeah." Q-Ball chattered, "Looks like it opens up a little bit, maybe inclines upwa-ARGH!"

There was a squeal and a splosh, and the other three boys fell to their knees laughing as it became apparent that Q-Ball had fallen straight into a rock pool.

"Nice navigating dipshit." Craig chorlted.

"What's that?" Q-Ball spluttered.

"I said...nice navigating shit-for-brains."

"No," Q-Ball said, shushing the others. "I can hear voices...further up ahead...."

Tabby sighed resignantly and placed the phone back down on the table.

"Sounds like he's out of battery, wherever he is." she said with a weak smile and a shrug.

"Not a problem." Adrian spoke up after remaining quiet against the wall allowing Lyra and the other to deal with the situation. "I've got an idea. Mr Dean - aka Jeff - was telling me there's a fete on in the square down in town. It's a human shindig, so you know the score. But it could be fun, the weather's right for it, and it's in the middle of town so if Lance is down there we may well run into him."

He looked over at Lyra, taking a moment to give her a warm smile of approval as he took in, for the first time, the sight of her and Kiyoshi together. It wasn't difficult to see an alpha-pair in the making...but he had to refrain from the temptation to presume how things would work out. He still dearly wished the decision didn't ultimately rest on his shoulders.

"Besides," he went on, "it's a big night tomorrow. Best make sure that we're all stocked up for the celebration. So waddya'll say - penny-stalls and bouncy castles in the sun sound like a day out?"

Calvin snorted to himself. Scared of wolves is she? Well good luck with that. Maybe when 'it' happened it would be as well to leave Gavin behind to look after his car-crash of a sister. Especially now that his crazy mother had shown up and muddied the waters even more. He'd hoped he might be able to win over a few others - Gavin would have been a good candidate, Aziel too - but really the only person he needed to talk to an persuade was Lyra. Lyra was everything. And she was the most urgent too. Every second she spent getting comfortable around Kiyoshi was gonna make it harder for her to see the light when the time came.

"You hear that Gav?" he said, "I think the boss said there's a fete in town. Maybe there's be the opportunity to throw things at other things...maybe even shoot stuff with airguns if we're lucky. And if it's lame we can always bail and find something else to do."
