a character in “Marked 2”, as played by nightwolf

Description

My Name is: Duncan Reidon (pronounced Ray-Don)

I am the: Beta

I am age: 26

My mate is/I hope my Mate is: He has not really decided who he would like his mate to be but he is leaving it all down to fate. He appreciates all the females in the pack even if some find his soft spot quicker than others.

In human form I look like: Image

As a wolf i look like:

Personality: Duncan is caring and protective over everyone, especially if he is close to a person. He can have a very soft spot for people who manage to make him smile. Of course being the Beta he can be very serious and assertive in situations where he needs to be.

Likes: being outside, hanging around with the other pack members, he although enjoys teaching the Omegas how to defend themselves against other wolves in case the situation calls for it. But he goes easy on them since they are only young. ( will develop more as the thread develops)

Dislikes: People who are aggressive for no reason, he doesn’t really like the smell of fragrant soaps as they mess up his nose of course he will wash with them but it is usually non fragrance soap. (again will add more i like to develop characters)
How you feel about the pack: Duncan cares deeply about the pack and would defend them at a drop of a hat,

Other: Duncan is good friends with the Alpha since they more or less grew up together and so formed a trusting friendship. He often jokes with the Alpha and spars with him if he can manage to jump on him alone.

So begins...

Duncan looked at Anya as she hugged him, although he felt he couldn't move at all. He slowly wrapped his arms around Anya. His chest shuddered as he softly cried into Anya's shoulder he was thankful for the embrace in his time of need.

Ava continued to brush Gray hair with her fingers affectionaltley, she had always loved his hair the way it always remained the same shape regardless it a wind blew threw it, it would naturally return to its natural shape. She looked to Adrian and spoke putting her hand on his shoulder. " I would really apreciate seeing your parents at this time, well let him lie for the moon then arrange the burial for a day after" she explained simply wiping her tears away with her hand. She looked to Duncan as he hugged Anya. She wondered if something was going on between them, they did seem close. She was never one to ask she was always one to be told.

Ava hugged Adiran tightly giving a deep sigh" can you keep an eye on Duncan for me Adrian he was very close to Gray and I don't know how he will take this."

Anya didn't speak as Duncan turned and wrapped his arms around her, nor when he began to gently sob on her shoulder. She simply rubbed his back, holding onto him tightly with her other arm. A tear rolled down her cheek, her heart torn by his sadness. Every bit of his pain was her own. Biting her bottom lip hard, she had to stop herself from whispering those words. Not now. It wasn't appropriate and as much as she wanted to shout it from the rooftops, she would would not allow herself to do so. There was still time to tell him. Still time...And if not, well then she would deal with that when it came. For now, her only concern was Duncan's well-being and for that reason, she helped him slowly to his feet, keeping one arm around his waist.

"C'mon," She whispered, looking up into his eyes and giving him a half smile even though her face was streak with tears. "How about we go and make a nice cup of tea?" She glanced at Adrian and Ava and then Gray. He looked peaceful, unlike when they had first entered the room. His suffering had come to an end. She had known him of course, perhaps not as well as many others, but she'd always been awed by the man. He was someone who would certainly be missed among the pack and especially his mate Ava. How it must feel to have your soulmate pass away before your very eyes, well Anya simply could not imagine the pain that she must have been in.

Duncan slowly stood mainly with the assistance of Anya, he still kept his gaze on the floor. His arm still around Anya mainly for her physical support so that Duncan wouldn't fall over. Duncan looked over to Adrian as he spoke firstly to his mother who it seemed was playing to stay with Adrian's parents, then Duncan saying that a room was always open to him.

Looking over to his father then to Adrain he nodde" I'd like that....thanks" he mumbled groggily his throat feeling as rough as sandpaper. He tried to smile but couldn't feel the strength to at all. Looking down at Anya he rubbed her arm softly.

Anya wrapped an arm around Duncan as they stood together. He would be returning to the Pack House where he would stay the night. And his mother would be staying with Adrian's parents. Clearing her throat, she nodded in response to what was happening. Linking her fingers through Duncan's, she slowly turned him away from the bed and towards the door. Supporting him all of the way, she offered a brief smile, before she attempted the stairs, leading him behind her. Leaving Duncan at the bottom, she headed towards the kitchen remembering where it was. Filling a couple of glasses with water she returned to the foot of the stairs and handed one to him and the other to his mother.

"My mum always used to give me a glass of water when I was sad," She whispered, looking at the floor. "I guess it doesn't truly help, but I know that crying makes me thirsty." Leaning against the wall, she waited for everyone's next intentions.

Duncan heard half of what Adrian said, he held onto the glass that Anya had pushed into his hand. He had no intent to actually drink the water since at the moment he felt like the slightest bit of food or water would make him throw up violently.

He looked at Anya and gave a soft smile, he took a small sip of water and placed it on the small table, he linked his fingers through hers giving them a soft squeeze. " thank you for coming Anya" he said quietly.

"I'm only glad I can offer some comfort Duncan" Anya whispered, rubbing the back of his hand with her thumb. She looked up into his eyes and gave a small smile before reaching up and placing her free hand against his cheek. "If you need anything at all, please don't hesitate to ask. Even if it's something as simple as company tonight then I shall not leave your side." She brushed her fingertips across his cheekbone, keeping her eyes locked onto his. Without another word, she took her hand from his and gave him a tight hug, placing her chin against his shoulder.

"I am truly sorry." It was barely audible, but definitely there. "Now, let's see where Adrian has gotten to. We can wait outside if you wish." She cast a glance at the stairs, as she released him. In honesty, the thought of a dead body only one floor above them was somewhat scaring the young woman. Although Anya did not fear death itself, the concept still gave her the creeps.

When Lyra mentioned Kiyoshi's name, it was like a gear shifted in Calvin's mind. Right up until that point he'd been robing himself ready to accept the role of Lyra's mate, but when it became apparent that wasn't going to be the case, the revelation was a surprisingly...understated one. It was as though he'd really known it was going to be that way all along.

And strangest of all...it didn't feel like a problem. The robes he'd robed himself with did not fall off...

"Awesome." he said, simply and casually. "That should work out nicely for ya."

He smiled faintly and looked towards the stairs. He had other things to say, but the new information meant that he'd have to give a little more thought as to how to present it all. He flexed his shoulders in a tired stretch.

"Hell of a night it seems." He grinned, "I got a feeling this moon will be even crazier though. Hopefully I'll catch you before then. You know, just coz you got your mate doesn't mean you gotta disappear into a black hole of...mate-...hood or whatever. I met some interesting folks tonight; had some interesting insights on some stuff we were talking about earlier."

He leaned back and yawned, tilting his neck with a soft click. "But anyway I'll catch you about that tomorrow. I'll just jumble it all up if I try to explain it now."

He turned to move away, but as soon as he was facing away from her a slight scowl broke onto his face. Everyone was going to bed soon. Lyra would be with Kiyoshi...no doubt the natural progression of things would take it's course. With a long breath he blew out the frustration. Just gotta think of it like another sport...it's not about who scores the first point, it's about who walks away with the trophy.

Adrian returned after about a quarter of an hour, and unlocked the front door with the key Ava had given him. He found Anya and Duncan much as he had left them. With a faint smile he stood in the doorway.

"Hey champ," he said, using a name he normally reserved for younger wolves, certainly not someone with position of beta, but somehow it seemed fitting under the circumstances, "your mother's in good hands, my dad was still up and about so she's being looked after. I've made a call, arrangements are gonna be made for your dad. So I think all that's left is to get you back to the house for some rest."

He glanced towards the room where Gray was laid and took a deep breath. He also did a mental count of the rooms they had up at the house...he had already accounted for Duncan staying, right? Yes, he was sure he had. Besides, with some people having found their mates, rooms were about to start freeing up anyway...

Tabby shrugged and looked off. "We've been fine really. Still in the same house. Mom hasn't really changed, still does the same things, keeps to herself. I've been involved in the talent camp a lot...just...normal life really."

Returning to the even keel of small conversation was comfortable. Yeah, there were more interesting things she could have said, but nothing that quite topped the claim of being a werewolf. If anything, giving a more mundane answer made a solid point about how 'normal' Tabby believed she was. Not that she'd ever felt particularly normal in her home town, what with the way her mom always discouraged her from mixing or meeting with anyone else. But she wasn't going to talk about that right now.

Accepting a token hug she closed her eyes and tried to forget almost everything that Gavin had said, instead picturing in her mind the face of the mischievous young boy who had gone camping and never came back. Her eyes threatened to well at the memory, but she fought them back...she wasn't quite ready to trust these people with her emotions just yet.

She followed them back into the house, not knowing where else to go. Lance hadn't shown up at all, so she didn't have any of her things, but it didn't matter. She was more than prepared to sleep a little rough tonight...after all anything was better than sleeping in Lance's stupid car. And at least here she had the offer of a bed.

Inside she followed the only remaining voices into the kitchen.

Duncan looked down at Anya as she spoke saying that she would give him company if he wanted it, he closed his eyes slightly when she touched his face, the feeling was so gentle but meant so much. He gave a soft sigh and spoke " thank you Anya...I may just try to sleep tonight..although I probably won't sleep... I don't want to keep you up with my pining especially with the new moon coming along. " Duncan explained although inside he felt physically tired but his mind was still active, even his wolf was trying to console him and give advice but he wasn't listening that much.

Duncan turned to looked at the door as Adrian spoke saying that his mother was at his parents house, it was the best place for her really with friends. Duncan nodded to Adrian and took Anya's hand as they walked out of the house. Locking the door he walked down the steps and climbed into Adrian's car.

"I wouldn't mind," Anya whispered, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. She didn't get a chance to say anymore, for Adrian returned and joined them. Giving him a brief smile, she followed Duncan out of the door, waiting for him to close and lock it. Climbing into the backseat of the car, she sat in silence. A sick feeling churned her stomach as she bowed her head slightly and clasped her hands together. She would never know this feeling, the loss of a parent. Because as she far as she was concerned she had no parents. They'd deserted her and left her without knowing what she was.

Staring out of the window, she watched the town whiz by. Pressing her forehead against the cold windowpane she chewed her bottom lip quite hard. For a moment, she felt lonely. But would she be able to withstand that pain. The thought of losing anyone close to her. But there wasn't anyone close to her. Her eyes flickered to Duncan for a moment. Well there was someone. But now was not the time, nor the place to tell him. She was struggling to contain it, but she had to. Just for now. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes.

It was as though Lyra's words pulled the curtain back on the reality that Tabby was indeed exhausted. The strangeness of the events that night had been enough to keep her mind on it's toes, but the invitation to let all of that go and embrace sleep was far too inviting.

"Thank you." she said to Lyra, lifting a hand gently to the other in the kitchen before following Lyra out. The room she was shown was certainly not as modest as Tai had led her to expect; for a downstairs guest room it was very well laid out, with a sofa-bed that had been dressed so as to look to all intents like an actual bed and a softened bedside lamplight.

"I'm sure Lance holed himself up somewhere." she chuckled halfheartedly. "He's not the best at organisation."

She listened as Lyra went on, and realised for the first time that people had probably been well aware of the discomfort between her and Gavin that evening. What had they made of it? Well, that probably had a lot to do with what they made of themselves. But she had already resolved not to dwell on that. Lyra was being good to her, even to the extent of trying to reassure her about her own brother. For now, it would be enough to be grateful for that.

"Thanks Lyra," she said, "I'll see you in the morning. G'night!"

When Lyra was gone, Tabby rolled onto the bed. Sinking into the soft foam surface felt like a welcome immersion into comfort, and was luxury compared to anything she'd experienced the last few days! All there was to do was to lay there. She had nothing to change into. Before sleep took over, she checked her phone one last time, but the battery had died. And, of course, the charger was one of the things in her bag that Lance had been supposed to bring up. She shook her head and bit her lip. True enough, she'd landed on her feet being invited to this house. It took the edge of an otherwise thoroughly miserable experience. But for everything that had happened, she wished more than anything she could just go home. Apologising to mom for disappearing without an explanation suddenly seemed to have lost it's sting in comparision with the longing to be back with her.

Having remained fairly quiet while Lyra had tactfully removed Calvin from the room, Tai nodded at Kiyoshi when he excused himself.

"Of course Kiyoshi," she said, "sleep well. And thanks for all your help today."

She lingered in the kitchen a little while after the others had left, pretending to find something else to put back in place. James had all but disappeared, but then she hadn't seen much of Dante either. Perhaps he was looking after her. Tai had forgotten about the new girl...there had been so much else to think about. She blew out a long, slow breath. It had been quite a day all round. And tomorrow would bring the challenge of trying to consolidate and make sense of it all.

Stepping out of the kitchen she grabbed a few extra towels out of the utility cupboard nearby and turned back into the main hall.

As he made the short drive back up to the house with his two silent passengers, Adrian wasn't sure where his mind was meant to be. Essentially there was nothing so sinister and troubling that had happened as to wrench his mind away from the passing of an elder packmate. Not a 'tragic' passing in the true sense; Gray had been of a good age and had come to a peaceful end following an exemplary life. It was, in many ways, precisely what every wolf should aspire to have at the end of their journey. Factor in the aspect of having your offspring at your side at the final moment...well, that certainly made it something Adrian hoped to achieve when his time came.

In no time at all they were pulling into the driveway. Adrian didn't bother opening the garage; the car could sit out tonight. He glanced back at Duncan and Anya, but a mixture of tiredness and emotion rendered words inappropriate. What everyone needed right now was rest. Not many lights remained on in the house, and certainly it was evident that all the guests had gone home. Little surprise; it was well after midnight.

He got out of the car and made straight for the front door. Once inside, he saw Tai in the hallway holding several towels. The pair made immediate eye contact, and Adrian shook his head solemnly.

"I see." Tai said with a nod. "Is Duncan alright?"

"He's staying here tonight." Adrian replied softly.

"I thought he would." said Tai, "The room is ready. I'm just putting out some extra towels for the morning and then I'll turn in myself."

"Good call." Adrian hung up his jacket and waited for Duncan and Anya to make their way in also, turning to the Beta and squeezing his should with his hand. "Head straight on up pal. We'll see you in the morning. Remember, in the wake of the grief comes the pride, but the grief will have it's rightful time."

Duncan slowly got out of the car his feet still not feeling coordinated, like he could feel the floor about to cave in from underneath his body. Chance would be a fine thing of course, without the need to feel anything his mind wouldn't be in such pain. He stumbled up the front steps pausing to clumsily take off his jacket and hang it with the others.

Adrian's supportive hand on his shoulder sent an odd shock through his body that was numb. He looked to Adrian slowly and nodded slowly wallking to the stairs gripped onto the banister tightly his knuckles cracking loudly but it didn't bother him as he literally pulled himself up the stairs. His feet dragged slightly as he lifted them sluggishly. He composed himself pretty well as he walked but as he came to the room he was staying in, tears rolled down his face slowly pushing open the door he closed it with one hand. He flopped down on the bed curling up into a ball he sobbed softly his arms wrapping around the duvet his head burying deeply into it as he tried to relax. His mind wandered over to Anya she had said she would spend time with him if he needed her too, he should have said yes he would enjoy the company tonight through this misery.

Anya waited for a moment in the car, letting Duncan get inside before she did. Slowly she slid her legs out of the car and followed, her legs feeling almost like jelly and her heels doing little to support her. The house looked pretty quiet and deserted now, the party long over. She was glad. She didn't really feel like facing any of the others and explaining over and over again what had happened. Once she was up the stairs and inside, she gave Tai and Adrian a sad smile and a shake of her head. Duncan had already disappeared upstairs and without a word, she followed him after slipping her heels off so they didn't make a sound.

Hovering outside of her own door, she hesitated with her hand on the door handle. Chewing her bottom lip, Anya turned and headed further upstairs into the house. She knew where the spare room was and without knocking she slipped inside, silently closing the door behind her. Duncan was curled in a tight ball, his body shaking with sobs. Quietly, she went to the bed, lying behind him and wrapping her slender arms around his muscled frame. Burying her face against his neck, she closed her eyes and remained silent. She was happy to remain like this for the rest of the night. She knew how much he must be hurting and she intended to support him.

Duncan's body tightened slightly since he didn't noticed the door open, the soft hands that wrapped around his chest as well as the beautiful smell that came with it confirmed it was Anya. He placed his hand over hers lifting it slowly so he could kiss it lightly. He held onto her hand lightly his hand trembling, " thanks for coming" he spoke his voice thick with tears as he rested his head on the duvet. Not caring if tears flowed down his face as he slowly began to drift off to sleep.

He was terrified of going to sleep thinking that dreams of his father would haunt him over and over again but he was so tired.

Anya's body was stiff and every muscle screamed in protest as she shifted on the bed beside Duncan. Fluttering, her icy blue eyes opened accompanied with a silent yawn. She found herself in the same position in which they had fallen asleep in. She was curled against Duncan, her face buried in his neck and her arms tightly around his body. Her red dress had not been uncomfortable to sleep in, but the young woman certainly wouldn't be doing it again. Gently she slid away from Duncan's sleeping form, attempting to do so without waking him. He looked peaceful in his slumber, even though she knew what must be going on in his head and the nightmares that haunted his sleep. Leaning forwards she placed a delicate kiss on his forehead, touching his cheek with her fingertips.

Anya had to leave. Before she did something she would regret.

Quickly, she exited the spare room, careful to close the door silently behind her. Padding down to her room, she encountered no-one on the few flights of stairs. Once in relative quiet, she sat on the edge of the bed, chewing her bottom lip, her body shaking from head to toe. Placing her head in her hands, she allowed her tangled mess of hair to fall around her shoulders. It was a few moments before she felt she was able to move again, when the shaking had halted. Taking a deep breath, she snatched up a towel and some clothes and headed towards the bathroom. It had to happen today. If not, well then she was in trouble. Big trouble.

After a brief shower, Anya pulled on the clothes she had grabbed without looking. At least they matched. Tight denim shorts, with a ribbed vest top and a checked thin shirt to throw over the top. She wanted nothing more than to return to Duncan's room, but her head told her that he needed time alone, even though her heart screamed differently. Slowly, she made her way downstairs, unaware of practically everything. Walking into the kitchen, she glanced around long enough to recognise Tai was present. Giving her a quick smile, she ran her hand through her damp straight hair.

"Good morning," Her voice sounded odd, even to her. Clearing her throat, she tried again. "Anything I can do to help Tai?" Slightly better, but still a little wobbly. She needed something to take her mind off everything, a task to focus on so that she could think clearly and decide what to do.

Duncan gasped for air as he sat up, he looked around the room quickly realising where he was and what had happened. He sat up and rubbed his head, reaching over to the empty spot where Anya was he sighed heavily, he wished she had stayed longer but he didn't want rumours to spread, but he did feel better when he was around her even if times were hard at the moment.

He stood up slowly and ran his fingers through his hair, he felt so tired but could sleep again he hardly slept last night even with Anya's warm embrace around him he drifted off every now and then but kept being reminded of his fathers final words to him. Rubbing his eyes he quickly stepped into the shower allowing the cold water to freshen him up a bit he changed his clothes leaving them scattered on the guest room floor. Duncan walked down the stairs slowly not wanting to go the kitchen just yet he wanting to find one of his fathers old books that he had left in the library unless he came in earlier when he was well to take it back to the house, he could use the silence perhaps on a walk later before dinner if he felt like it of course, the moon was soon though it was a shame his father missed it.

Stepping in the library he saw Anya sitting in a chair, he placed his hand on her shoulder giving it a comforting squeeze " thanks Anya, I appreciate you staying with me last night" he mumbled taking a seat opposite her.

Anya didn't hear Duncan enter the library. And so it startled her when he placed a hand on her slender shoulder and squeezed gently. Wrenching her eyes open, she looked up with a gentle gasp, blinking rapidly as she took in his image and unclenched her hands on the arms of the leather chair. A lump formed in her throat as she blindly nodded her head, watching him take a seat opposite her.

"It was the least I could do..." She whispered, leaning forwards slightly. His bloodshot eyes and pale face caused her heart to skip a beat and she gulped, trying and failing to tear her eyes away. Behind all that pain was the Duncan she knew and loved. And if she didn't find him again soon then she might lose him for good. Making a quick decision, she reached for his hand and linked her fingers through his. Keeping her eyes locked onto his, she searched his face for any sign of a reaction. After a few seconds, she opened her mouth to speak.

"I know you're hurting...But I need to speak with you." Clearing her throat, she launched herself into the speech she had been rehearsing in her head ever since she had woken up. "Do you remember when I first arrived? I walked through that door at fourteen and I was a complete state, both physically and emotionally. I was unstable, frightened and most of all angry. But the moment I stepped into this house you were stood there waiting for me on Adrian's orders. You told me everything would be alright and that I was safe. You gave me a tour and helped me settle in. I didn't speak to anyone apart from you at first. I only trusted you, not even Adrian or Tai. You were always there for me whenever I needed you most. And now...now isn't the right time to tell you this because you're hurting so badly inside, but I want to make it better. I need to make you better because it makes my heart ache watching you struggle. I feel like I'm suffering just as much as you are..." Stroking his cheek with her fingertips she shook her head.

"I'm being selfish, I'm sorry..."

Anya made to leave, looking regretful. She couldn't bring herself to say it. He was in pain and perhaps this would not help him. No, she would have to face the full moon alone, even if the thought cast shadows on her soul.

Duncan smiled as Anya spoke about the first time she entered the pack house, he was a young man himself then. Just starting to learn his role as a beta from both Adrian and his father. He watched most of his friends grow up and new pack members come and go.

He closed his eyes at Anya's warm touch and he appreciated it. It was when she came to the end of her speech his head finnaly clicked into what she was telling him. Had she just told him that she had chosen him as her mate? Had he been really ignoring the little hints his wolf had been giving him, although with the death of his father he had been pushing it back.

He stood up as Anya went to leave "wait" he said taking Anya's hand he pulled her closer to him. " Anya...I've watched over you since you came here, it's part of...my job as Beta. But if my thinking is correct are you trying to tell me that...that erm.." he paused to laugh nervously he didn't know how to react, he was overjoyed but he wanted to make sure he wasn't pulling at loose threads.

Anya turned when Duncan took her head and practically fell into his arms. Her cheeks were glistening with tears and her heart thumped madly. A soft laugh escaped her lips as she drew back to look at him, slowly nodding her head. She hadn't needed to say it, because he'd worked it out himself. A satisfied feeling settled over her and she could have sworn something in her head growled happily.

"Yes, you are my mate," She whispered, linking her fingers through his and squeezing gently. "I can't believe I've been so blind. All these years of waiting and you were right there, staring me straight in the face." Shaking her head, she looked up into his eyes blinking away her tears. "I wanted to tell you last night, but you were so damn upset and I was struggling this morning to hold it in any longer." A smile lit up her face for a moment. Nothing else in the world mattered. No-one else in the world mattered in that moment, because she'd found her mate. And her heart told her that she couldn't have been happier. It was practically bursting with joy.

"At last. I thought we'd never get there." A voice growled inside of her head. For a second it startled Anya, frightened her even. But one look at Duncan and she felt safe again. After all, she knew about the voice that came with finding her mate.

Placing her free hand on the back of Duncan's neck, Anya reached up and placed her lips against his.

Duncan smiled down at Anya as she spoke to him explaining how strange the mating game was, people who had been lifelong friends in the pack would not always end up being mates and others who might have had a very strong dislike could be mates. But now Duncan had Anya and now there was no more worry or to be straight bitterness of not having a mate, Duncan had to admit he was over the moon. To have someone who was a close friend of his and knew him so well was such a great feeling.

Anya's gentle kiss closed that feeling and made it bigger, he wrapped his arms slowly around her pulling her closer to him. Now he had an even better reason to keep her safe, they were joined now and the moon would bring Anya into the pack.

Anya found enough strength to pull gently away, though she would have given anything to continue kissing him for the rest of the morning. Running her hand down Duncan's arm, she linked her fingers back through his as they'd moved to tug him closer to her. They were pressed so close together she had to crane her neck to look up at him. It seemed like an age had passed as she stared into his eyes, a smile on her pink lips. Eventually they were going to have to leave the dusty library and a knock at the front door caused Anya to come back to her senses.

"Let's get you some breakfast. I'd imagine it will still be fairly quiet in the kitchen." Anya whispered, using her spare hand to adjust her shorts and vest top back into place and then grab her almost untouched mug of coffee. Raising their joined hands to her lips, she kissed his briefly and then turned.

Leading Duncan out of the library, she glanced about the Hall, not at all surprised to see Gavin and his mother there. She checked on him regularly, even though it was necessary to do so. He was perfectly safe in the Pack House, but she assumed Evon meant well. Gavin was her son after all and she was only doing her best by him. Again, another reason she was glad that she was estranged from her parents. It meant no interfering in her life. It was a few seconds later than Calvin joined, looking more than slightly bleary-eyed, but still managing a witty comment. Holding up her coffee, she grinned slightly arching her eyebrow and keeping Duncan's hand in her own, squeezing it softly.

"Hmm, coffee. I do believe I stole the last mug. Poor Calvin, should have been quicker out of bed." She teased, her gaze flickering to Gavin and his mother. "Good morning, it's lovely to see you again Evon." Leaning against Duncan, she gave him a quick secret smile, brushing her hair over her shoulder. She gave Gavin a questioning look, frowning slightly.

Duncan looked down at Anya and returned her soft smile with his own, then everything seemed to happen at once Sid entred the house, he hadn't seen him for a while although Duncan had been all over the place with worrying about patrols and his father that he might not have noticed, then Aziel also appeared had he been in the house too?

Shaking his head lightly he looked at the crowded room, he wasn't sure wether it was the upcoming moon or if everyone suddenly filled into one room. Usually people would slowly crawl out of bed especially after a party, possibly eat some leftovers then crawl back into bed. But now everyone was awake, it was so strange.

Duncan wrapped one of his arms around Anya's waist as he looked around the crowd. " I'm not really in the mood for breakfast this morning, I don't know what to do with myself" he looked down at the floor in deep thought.

Anya, who had lead Duncan into the kitchen after Calvin, merely stood at the edge and observed the scene. It was quite something. James and Aziel were fronting up to one another, with the threat of taking it outside hanging in the air. Her gaze flickered towards Tabby to see her response. Uncomfortable. That's exactly how she looked. Not frightened or disturbed, which meant that someone had explained everything to her. Anya was glad. It was better that she understood what she was if she was going to remain here with the Pack. It was only a matter of time before she found out anyway. The full moon was only one night away now and there would be wolves running around everywhere. Including herself now. Which was a scary thought...

As Calvin gestured for Aziel to follow him, she felt Duncan wrap one of his arms around his waist. The tiny gesture sent warmth spending throughout her body. Turning to him, she gave a bright smile, nodding her head. "That's ok, you don't have to eat. But I probably should...I'm going to need all the energy I can get right?" Worry crossed her eyes for a brief second, before it disappeared. Reaching up, she kissed him lightly on the lips, before turning to everyone else. She was still worried about how he was feeling over his father's death. After all, it had only happened the night before.

"Well, good morning," She said as cheerily as she could manage. There was a distinct tension that hung over the room from Aziel and James' little fight. "I see you stayed the night Tabby. I'm sure that Ray is looking after you." Turning to the young girl, she smiled comfortingly moving her hair behind her ear. Glancing at Duncan, she took his hand and pulled him towards the breakfast table, the smell of toast too inviting.

#, as written by Wild1
For a few seconds Ray was quite after Anya and Duncan entered. They kissed quickly and suddenly Ray put two and two together to realize they were mates. her first thoughts weren't those of Joy, actually they were more along the lines of, "Well that's just great. Another person who'll be changing tomorrow night." But Ray quickly pushed those thoughts out of her head. If there were two people in the entire pack house deserved to find their mates it was Anya and Duncan, they'd both waited so long to find their mates already.

Ray blanched at the thought of spending another five or ten years waiting to change. She couldn't imagine it, Ray had already knew she probably had at least two more years to go, but ten? Duncan must have been going out of his head with worry. She smiled at Anya and Duncan as Anya said, "Well, good morning I see you stayed the night Tabby. I'm sure that Ray is looking after you."

Ray nodded cheerfully, "I most definitely am. I'm being nice, I got her the phone, and I haven't pranked her once. " Ray smiled, hoping that if she acted lighthearted it might diffuse a bit of the tension.

Continuing she said to the pair, "By the way, congrats guys. You excited for the full moon?" After they'd responded Ray turned to James, "How about it, You excited for the full moon?" Ray hoped to diffuse the situation by getting a conversation started that had nothing to do with Tabby not being a wolf. Although, come to think of it, she may have botched that goal up a bit by talking about the full moon in front the girl who didn't believe she was a werewolf.

Aziel – The Kitchen

Aziel watched Tabby intently as he waited for her reply, of all the things to have come about in the past few days he had never expected to meet a werewolf who didn’t know what they were. It was a strange theory, but he knew it was also highly dangerous for the girl. If she mated with a human, (whom knows if it could happen) she would have no clue what would be happening to her the following full moon when she shifts. The panic alone would probably kill her at the start of her shift before she even got to the difficult part.

It was for her own good that she learns what she is and fast, for all he knew she could be mated already without realising it, all it took was one little interaction with a male and her death would be sentenced. Knowing all this Aziel was not prepared to stand by and allow an innocent girl die just because of her own stupid naivety.

He may be an ass most of the time, hell it him amused how the slightest thing could upset people, it was as though they had no tolerance with their wolfs bantering on in each of their heads. It was the same for him after all, probably worse than most of the others with his wolves dominance problems. However Aziel understood the things that had to be done, most people like to tiptoe around difficult situations, but Aziel just liked to get things over with.
Tabby had to learn of her true-self as soon as possible so she could have enough time to cope with it, he knew it wasn’t going to be easy to face and like most people needed visual confirmation in order to believe the truth.

So he was going to do what had to be done.

However, as expected not everyone had the sharp mind that Aziel had nor the intuition to put small matters aside and just do what is needed even if it means hurting someone and sacrificing their own problems. James seemed adamant that Aziel wasn’t going to solve this problem with Tabby, as he shouted "Oh, yes you are, You are taking a No for an answer, and here it is, No." James said again, "You can make an ass of yourself after she has called this lance guy, and after Ray and I leave." The grinding of Aziel’s anger began to settle in as he tightened his fists, James giving him orders? He wasn’t Alpha yet, and he doubted he would be since Lyra was a lot calmer in such situations when she wanted to be. The idea of taking orders from James only left him amusement and adamant it wouldn’t happen. The only possibility of it happening would be if James somehow impressed him, which he highly doubted.

Aziel was going to ignore his comment but James just had to open his mouth again, "So keep your mouth shut for the next five minutes then feel free to go back to being an ass." James said harshly, "If you do not the people going outside are you and me, and I swear, I will knock your damn teeth in."

“Knock my teeth in?” he repeated his last words with an un-nerving glare “Coming from a pipsqueak like you that’s fancy talk, last time I checked you didn’t give me ‘orders’ James, you’re not Adrian so don’t go getting all high and mighty brat” a growl slithered from his lips in a threatening tone “so unless you want to be humiliated I suggest you shut your own mouth and go scuttle off somewhere if you want to leave with Ray. I don’t need her with Tabby if you want her that badly”
In reality he knew having Ray around would probably help Tabby cope, but, if that couldn’t happen she would just have to deal with it on her own unless someone else came along. He’d try to change back to human as soon as possible if need be to help talk her through it, even though she may not want to see him after. Maybe that other new girl could come with her, didn’t seem like the blonde had anything interesting to do.

The smell of coffee filtered through Aziel’s nose as he tensed his body ready for fight, "Ow, dammit!" Calvin suddenly cursed, "For fucksake guys will you both just sort it out? I've got a hangover and I will personally shove your heads up each others asses and turn you into a wolf ying-yang if you don't turn the noise down. Az, come outside with me, I got something I wanna tell you."

At the sound of Calvin’s interruption it was as though the room suddenly zoomed back to reality, in his attempt to calm his rage Aziel had only focused on James for a time forgetting of the others presence. Whipping his head around to face Calvin he raised an eyebrow, “wolf ying-yang?” he said it with a questioning tone with slight mockery, what kind of threat was that? It just made him want to snicker at the comedic aspect of it. Not expecting a reply to his mockery he continued “we can sort out it easily, Tabby just needs to come outside for a moment and James can go prattle somewhere with Ray”

Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Anya and Duncan, they were being all cuddly which could only mean another pair had mated. Aziel felt slightly glad for Duncan considering how long he had waited before pushing it out of his mind to return to Calvin.

“You can tell me whatever it is after i’ve shown Tabby what she needs to see” he wasn’t shouting but his tone was beginning to grow frustrated, Ray had handed Tabby the phone as they had been talking, and Tabby had managed to leave the room with all of the distractions about.

“God damn it” Aziel growled frustrated as he turned to the direction she had disappeared too, he wasn’t going to wait around to sort out this mess, that wasn’t his nature. “Calvin come with me outside you can tell me as I again have to sort out everyone’s bluddy’ mistakes. Can’t any of you do things yourself for once!”

His temper had reached maximum, could they not see the immediate attention that was needed here? They all only prattled about their own lives not thinking about the small consequences of each of their actions. Holding back from convincing Tabby for their own guilt at hurting or scaring her was just going to cause her more harm than good if they weren’t careful. The faster she knows the better.

Not wasting time Aziel stormed into the hallway following Tabby’s scent, he quickly found her after looking around, walking up to her with a determined glare he took liberty in locking his hand around her upper arm not caring that she was looking at the phone in thought. “Your coming with me now, no objections” he said not waiting for a reply as he continued to drag her along with him, he paid attention not to hurt her however, his grip just tight enough that she couldn’t pull free. It wasn’t in Aziel’s arbitrary to harm females despite his anger problems.

Taking her through the hall and towards the doorway, he made sure to avoid Adrian has his scent drifted around nearby. He didn’t want to have deal with him right now.

Light shined through the glass windows as he pushed open the door leading outside and walked out into the open still gripping onto Tabby’s arm, taking her over to the patio area he turned and placed his other hand on her upper arm saying “Now sit, and watch” as he lightly pushed her down onto one of the wooden chairs that were mildly comfortable. If Calvin came he could act as a comfort to her distress if Ray was opting out due to James. He didn’t care; she had to learn the truth.

Anya opened her mouth to respond to Ray, halfway through buttering her toast, when Aziel marched back into the room. Freezing for a second, all thoughts of the coming moon disappeared as she watched him grab Tabby's arm, before tugging her up and out of the room. The look on his face was enough to send shivers down her spine. He meant business. Though she had seemingly missed what was going on, she suspected that it had something to do with Tabby being a werewolf and knowing Aziel as she did, he was probably going to do something compulsive and drastic. Glancing at Ray and James, she shook her head as she dropped her buttering knife onto her plate.

"Sometimes he can be a real..." Her words stopped dead in her throat when both Calvin and Gavin entered the kitchen. Gavin looked positively murderous as Calvin explained and then lunged for the door, only to be held back. Glancing out of the window, she watched as Lyra tried to calm Aziel. Well it what was she assumed the young woman was doing and if she wasn't, well who knew what she was doing out there. And besides, in the kitchen everyone was watching and ready to spring. Kiyoshi was also a little way off, watching events unfold as well.

"Lyra will sort it," She whispered softly, looking over at Gavin for a second before her gaze returned to the window. An impatient growl echoed around her head. That was still weird, hearing her wolf.

"You should take action. Go out there and have some fun."

"Without the use of violence or anything else." She added in a quiet voice. Secretly she didn't think James' threat to Aziel had been very helpful, but she would never tell him so. He could be somewhat unpredictable at times. Her eyes fell on Duncan again, as she silently asked him if he was ok and whether or not he wanted to leave.
