Nuraki

"Many things change in life, only a few are stationary. Some would define life as change. Others find comfort at having the same routine over and over. Which are you?"

0 · 397 views · located in Hainius

a character in “Marked: For Better or for Worse”, as played by Furry Dragon

Description

Name: Nuraki Kethet

Breed: Pocket dragon

Gender: Female

Marking: Nuraki's face mark covers her lower jaw and follows the jaw line behind the ears. It curls over the ears in a thick line that circles the ears (although the ears themselves are not black). A line from there extends out to between the nostrils and the eyes and connects to a stripe going from the base of the head to the chin.

Personality: Nuraki likes to learn new things, whether it be by book, story, or rumor. She is especially fascinated by storytellers, whether they tell tall tales or real life experiences. She doesn't like to fight very much (partly due to her size) and much rather do other work such as spying or research. She likes to ask questions and is very blunt with her words. She is a bit awkward with conversation sometimes and shy. Despite this she enjoys talking with friends and likes to make people happy. When faced with trouble she will try to face it head on, usually by herself (unless it involves fighting). When things get out of control (i.e. she too gets sad, depressed, people put too much work on her) she will sometimes try to distract herself from the problem, mainly through sleeping. She dislikes anger for it turns her into a creature who tries to bring down everyone around her who is happy. There are certain things she doesn't like such as whistling and clicking noises, especially when she is trying to concentrate.

Egg Appearance: Nuraki's egg's color is a mixture of various shades of green ranging from a rich forest green to a muted, muddy color. It also has spots of stone grey. It is sort of like the reverse of a mossy rock: instead of being grey and covered with patches of green it is green covered with a few spots of grey. On one side it is covered by a splotchy mark where in a few cases the original color shows. The egg is about five inches long.

Hatchling Appearance:
Image
As a hatchling Nuraki is only two inches in length.

Adult Appearance: Same look except five and a half inches in length.

Breath Weapon: Sleep gas

Bonded: This will be filled in later...

So begins...

Nuraki floated in the clear egg liquid that surrounded her. She wanted to get out but instinctively knew now was not the time. Through the shell she could hear voices and sounds of other egg bound dragons. At one point her egg had seemed a complete world on its own. She didn't get hungry or thirsty and she could sleep whenever she wanted. Life was full of dreams of a tantalizing but somewhat uninteresting outside world. At least at the time the outside world didn't hold much power in Nuraki's mind. Now it called to her and she wanted out. Her lungs were ready to breathe air and her wings were ready to feel the wind. When were the two-legs going to arrive? It sure seemed they were taking long enough!

The muted voice of the Great Dragon came through the eggshell. "The last Marked have arrived. It is time for the hatching!" Nuraki squirmed inside the egg, trying to find a weak spot in the shell. Eventually she gave up at that and simply began butting part of the egg with her head. I will choose my Bonded! I will be free from this egg! She was ready to face her destiny as a dragon, not some egg bound weakling.

There! A crack! Nuraki shoved her head through the opening. It was bright out! Light flooded into her eyes, blinding her momentarily. Snorting egg gloop out of her nostrils, she worked on enlargening the hole.

Nuraki wriggled out of the opening in the egg. She licked the last of the egg liquid off of her before looking around. So that's what a two leg looks like, she thought as she set her eyes on a biped creature nearby. It was huge! The two leg had fur on the top of its head and was partly encased by an odd membrane. What is that for? Are they not totally free from their eggs yet?

Her gaze fell on the Great Dragon. His size put that of the two legs to shame. He had to be over a 300 times her body length! She chirped to let everyone know she was out of the egg.

Which two leg would be hers? It was exciting, much more so than it ever had been in the egg. None of her dreams had been as magnificent as the world around her. She fanned her wings to dry them out and hopped down off the rock her egg was on. She walked over to one of the two legs, keeping her head held high and taking in as much as she could. The two leg she approached had silver head fur and looked happy. Sitting in front of the two leg Nuraki asked, "What your name, pretty head fur? What you think?"

Larrissa stood back as the dragons began breaking out of their eggs. They seemed to be quiet intelligent beings- most of them knew exactly who they wanted. A very small, yet adorable dragon made it's was toward her, and she kneeled down in front of it. The little dragon had said the pretty furred. She hoped that meant her. "I'm Larissa. A siren/angel half-blood. Do you know your name?" Her voice was gentle and soothing, and a bright smile played on her lips. is this my dragon? she wondered, watching the dragon with her enamoring ocean blue eyes. She had been told that dragons had a limited vocabulary when they first hatched, but they did know their name.
She held out her hand, just short of touching the small dragon. She wasn't sure if the little thing wanted to be touched. "You seem like you will be a very brave dragon." Larissa told her honestly. One second she had been in her shell, the next she had been proudly walking over to her, with her head held high. She even knew how to talking already. Other dragons broke from their confined world to meet them. It was all very exiting, but she kept her kind eyes on the little dragon that had approached her.

The two-leg knelt down in front of Nuraki but still towered above her. "I'm Larissa. A siren/angel half-blood. Do you know your name?" the two-leg said in a soft, chiming voice. A siren angel half-blood? What did that mean? Nuraki began to try to puzzle it out. It seemed to mean half of her blood was that of an angel's and the other half was siren. Was one half of her body powered by one and the opposite half by the other? It didn't seem so. The blood seemed to be mixed as there was no extreme differences between one side of the body and the other.

"My name Nuraki. Nuraki Kethet." the little dragon stated. When she said her name her tail waved like a dog's when it was happy. Nuraki was proud of her name. Glancing at the tentative hand the two leg, Larissa, held out to her, she rubbed her head against the warm skin. The feeling of it reminded her of the membrane of her wings. Membranes! That reminded her! "Why you have membrane stuck to you? You not leave all egg part behind?" Nuraki inquired curiously, looking at the colorful membrane that obviously wasn't skin. From her vantage point she could see it definitely wasn't skin but rather was something that rested on it. What was it for? Would she be allowed to touch it?

Larissa smiled as he tiny dragon stated her name and rubbed her head against her hand. "It's wonderful to meet you, Nuraki." She she asked her why she still had the membrane on her, she tilted her head back slightly and let out a sweet, bell-like laugh. "That isn't a membrane. It's my clothes. They keep me warm, and protect my skin." Slowly she scooped up the little dragon and rested her against her soft cloth shirt.
Her silky white hair tickled Nuaki's nose gently as she allowed the dragon to rest in her lap. Larissa smiled gently, keeping her palm against her tiny cheek. She hoped this meant that Nuraki had chosen her. Her ocean blue eyes overlooked her with great wonder. How long could she have been in her shell to have picked up so many words in phrases? She had expected they would come out gurgling and trying to understand what words meant, but these dragons had it (mostly) figured out. They knew who they wanted- and they knew just how to get them.

Nuraki uncomfortably squirmed a little when Larissa picked her up. She thought something along the lines of, those hands could crush me easily! Not in those exact words, but in feelings and images. She didn't think the two leg would do that as Larissa seemed pretty kind, but an accident could always happen. Nuraki calmed down when Larissa set her on her lap.

"That isn't a membrane. It's my clothes. They keep me warm, and protect my skin." Larissa said in response to Nuraki's question with a laugh. Nuraki put a taloned paw on the cloth, feeling it and testing its strength. She swiped at the cloth, wondering if it could withstand an attack. To her delight a tiny rip appeared. With a satified chirp she looked up into Larissa's face. Was this two leg really her bonded? Nuraki wasn't fully sure yet. Larissa was the first and only two leg Nuraki had talked to. It would be hasty not to talk to another first before I choose, she thought. Again, she didn't think fully in words (she hadn't learned them all yet) but rather thoughts in the same meaning that just weren't words.

"You nice. Maybe I come back. Need invetigate [Nuraki is trying to say investigate] more." Nuraki said, holding eye contact with Larissa. What would the two leg's reaction be? Nuraki waited a moment before wandering off.

It seemed like most of the dragons had already found their Bondeds. There were two who seemed to be fighting over a two leg. Nuraki decided to steer clear of them. A eight legged, wingless dragon stood by a winged two leg. A two legs with wings! With him I wouldn't have to worry about him being disapointed I couldn't carry him! Nuraki shyly approached the two leg, not wanting to intrude on the Serpent's interactions with the winged one but at the same time wanting to announce her presence. In the end she decided on chirping, "Hello! What your names?" to both the dragon and two leg. Might as well start being friendly to other dragons now then later.

Almost immediatly after his question for the hatchling's name left his lips, another, smaller chirp announcing "Hello! What your names?" came from nearby. From his spot on the floor, Faquel didn't have to look very hard before his eyes spotted what produced the greeting. And what a surprise Faquel was in for! This second dragon was even smaller than the serpent, maybe only two inches in height! Fron it's voice, it was a female, but her size? The only dragon that small is a pocket dragon! Faquel had often played with the few pocket dragons that lived outside of the village, so seeing one here was a welcome surprise.

Smiling brightly, Faquel lowered his hand, offering a place for the tiny dragon to perch,"Hello, I'm Faquel. He was just about to tell me his name." He waved his other hand at the serpent dragon next to him.

Larissa glanced down at her shirt when Nuraki made a tiny rip. She really didn't care. The tiny dragon looked up at her, seeming proud, and Larissa smiled at her gently. Nuraki had a rather adorable expression. Slowly she told her she needed to investigate more, but she might come back. She smiled and nodded. "I understand. Bonding is a serious thing, not to be done hastily." she watched the dragon make his way towards the angel. She reminded herself to talk to the angel once the bonding was done.
Her ocean blue eyes fell open the other half blood again. He wasn't with a dragon, either. Quietly, she walked over to him and sat down next to him with a welcoming smile. She didn't say anything, just folded her legs undernieth herself and glanced up at him.

Inanna sulked lightly at Aquaea's comment "Don't rush yourself," The hatchling shrugged and turned her head to watch Najade as the twoleg continued. "As for my power over water, I don't really see why not, I suppose..." Inanna glanced up at the shimmer of liquid. The glittery liquid reflected in the dim lighting and the way it moved way so fluid. Inanna stirred, light green eyes fixed on the water but the moment disappeared as the liquid faded into thin air. The hatchling continued to stare at the same spot with her wide, now dark blue, eyes. How exactly had she had the capacity to do such a thing? Inanna knew that she had powers of her own but yet for the twoleg to have them was strange. Unusual. Then again, this world was as unusual to the her as her shell would have been to the twolegs. "That was cool!" She chirped happily. Her awe for the trick was more than her confusion over it turning her eyes back to light green.

"It has many more uses than controlling a bunch of water, but, I digress. I'm not exactly one to brag about my own abilities." Inanna rolled her eyes as they gradually eased back into blue and raised up on her back haunches to touch her nose to Aquaea's hand. "You should brag. You have skill! I wouldn't choose you if you didn't." She plopped back down onto her front paws, looking up to Aquaea with warmth. Now that she had satisfied herself with the fact that her bonded was a good choice, it was time to express the rather large need to play and get out some steam from sitting in the egg for so long. Also, to meet the other bonded.

She raised her head and proudly turned to the winged twoleg while her gaze rested on the small dragon who stood lower than her. She was a small dragon but this one was even smaller which made Inanna give a toothy grin. She slowly approached, long legs toned and slender. "Hello." She glanced to Najade to give her acknowledgment but her curiosity was in the smaller dragon. Inanna looked up at Faquel and murmured softly, almost regally "Excuse me. I hope I didn't cut in here." The hatchling folded her wings in tighter so that she could stand at her full height and her carefully puffed out her chest. "I'm Inanna. Nice to meet you." The dragon sent Aquaea a proud look, eyes glittering golden for a second before turning back to there regular blue.

"Hello." Again, another quiet murmur came from ANOTHER dragon that had decided to approuch Faquel, though his hatchling stood with a sense of pride and a puffed out chest, trying to make herself as large as possible. "Excuse me. I hope I didn't cut in here."

"U-Um...no, your fine. Nice to m-meet you. I'm Faquel." Faquel rubbed the back of his head shyly, becoming slightly unsettled by all the eyes on him. Only a few minutes ago, he had been worried if he would be noticed!

"I'm Inanna. Nice to meet you." Inanna, as her name was, looked incredibly proud of itself, standing as tall as her little body would allow, her feathered and fluffy wings compressed against her body to give off the impression that she was much larger than Inanna actually was.

Though Faquel couldn't help admiring Inanna's pride in herself, Nuraki didn't get the same impress from how she had tensed up and let her ears flatten against her skull. She did reply in a similar manner,"Nice to meet you too. I Nuraki." Inanna's grasp of language was also slightly more developed as well.

Sensing the tension, Faquel scooped up Nuraki in his hands and quickly set her on his left shoulder, patting her head lightly with his finger. "The cave floor is pretty cold, hu? My shoulder is much better to sit on." He gave her a reassuring smile.

"I am Najade!" The Serpent chirped to both the Angel and the little dragon who had approached them. "Najade is a Serpent." After saying this, he paused. Was it good to say he was a Serpent? It was obvious, really.... Wingless, eight legs, snakelike body... All of these were features unique to his breed. What if he offended the feathery two leg and tiny dragon?

After these thoughts ran through his mind, he quickly added, "You can see," to his previous statement, the blue skin on his face turning a slightly deeper shade of blue. His equivalent of blushing. Unlike most dragons, his scales did not hide his skin completely, only made it harder to see clearly. In any case, it was not a very obvious darkening of color, and most people would miss it completely.

When another dragon came over to the group, Najade eyed her with blatant curiosity. "Innana. Nice to meet you, too." Oooh... A feathery dragon.... Without really thinking about what he was doing, the little green hatchling reached out a curious paw to touch the Scaled Horse's wing, curious about how the oddly shaped scales felt.

Faquel lifted Nuraki up and put her on his shoulder. The little dragon felt no alarm in being held in his hands as he transported her to the new perch. She wasn't sure why, it just seemed more right than the other two leg holding her. She looked about from her new vantage point. It was so high up! It was exciting. No wonder Inanna wanted to stand tall! Nuraki saw a blue dragon talking to Larissa. It seemed the first two leg she had talked to was claimed. It seemed like most of the dragons were being quick about choosing. Was she the odd one out? Then again, it seemed like the Serpent hadn't chosen yet either.

"I am Najade!" the serpent said. "Najade is a Serpent." Nuraki bobbed her head in agreement at this. It puzzled her a little why Najade had announced his breed, as it was quite recognizable he was a Serpent. It wasn't like she went around declaring she was a pocket dragon. It seemed obvious to her what breed she was since she was so small. "You can see," the Serpent added after a thought.

Nuraki turned her attention back to Faquel. She crawled onto one of his wings and felt the softness of the feathers. It was nice. She contemplated pulling one out, but decided against this, thinking it would hurt the angel. Instead she climbed back to his shoulder next to his neck. What would a two leg taste like? Curious, she licked his neck. It was warm and a little salty, probably from sweat. She rubbed his skin with her head, deciding he liked how this young two leg smelled. He was kind too. After some consideration she said to the angel, "I am Nuraki. You are Faquel. We are one and you are my bonded." She chirped, birdlike, at the end of her sentence for emphasis.

Inanna watched the reactions of the other dragons, quite chipper about making new friends. However the first reaction she got was a sour expression. The hatchling resisted seeming shocked and lowered her head realizing that her elegance was scaring the little dragon. The angel, Faquel lifted the small one off the ground and onto his shoulder and Inanna frowned.

The other dragon seemed to cheer up once Faquel had her on his shoulder so Inanna perked up. She responded with a grin and a tiny wiggle of joy feeling more secure now that the other little one was satisfied. "Nuraki." She nodded politely. Her gaze flowed This was what a serpent looked like? She scanned over his legs seeing that he had more than she had and also that he had no wings. A pang of guilt pierced her chest and she lowered her head but at his cheeks turning blue she glanced away shyly. "Sorry. I see." Her eyes turned gray, as her emotion of nervous guilt poked at her mind. She could only anticipate flying and hated to wait to try but he had no wings. How would he fly? Inanna shook her head and focused back on the conversation at hand. That is, until Najade touched her wings.

Inanna let out a squeak and danced away, eyes glittering playfully. "Bet you can't again." She ruffled her feathers and smiled.
